Who came up with the idea to put Elvis Presley - Love Me Tender as OST to this drama? Please tell me. I’d love to send them some flowers to express my gratitude.

I noticed some time ago that new jdramas have American pop songs in their OST. Here with Love Me Tender, and in Bokutachi ga yarimashita with Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You (pssst, Bokutachi was another big gold mine for me when it comes to “the best drama ost” playlist). At the beginning I was kinda confused hearing Elvis, but right after that first shock I loved it, and I would fill a complaint if they didn’t include it in every episode.

Pooh may not be the prettiest man out there, but definitely is the kindest, I can fight you on that, try me. He’s hard-working and simple-minded, yet intelligent, understanding and gentle, do you need more? He used to take care of his sick mother, who gave him a lot of solid advices on life, and I don’t know how much of it was really his mother’s saying, and how much did he figure out by himself, but it was impressive hearing him say all those wise things with such sincerity. Moreover, his mother was one of a kind, and I really enjoyed those bits where she was explaining to Pooh how life works. And how it comes that she was always right? Those damn old ladies, they’ve seen everything.

Another year, another great performance by Ishihara Satomi. We’ve been seeing each other quite frequently this year, she has so many projects. Momo portrayed by Ishihara Satomi is a girl with an exquisite elegance often hidden behind an extravagant behaviour. She was joking at every opportunity she had. Silly, yet elegant. I can’t believe I’m joining those two adjectives in one sentence, I need to rethink my life. But that’s exactly how I embraced that character. A beautiful, educated lady who is not afraid to tell anyone off when needed... and sometimes she behaves like a gangster. The most enjoyable moment was when Pooh and his friends assumed she’s a hostess in a bar, and she played along with it, going as far as actually getting a job there. She invested in that joke, and with that she gained my respect forever. A crane in a dumpster, indeed.

The strongest point of this drama is that wonderful camera work. They knew what they were doing, what this drama is about, and they used it well. I was afraid that they won’t be able to capture the art of flower arranging in a right way. However, not only did they respect it, but also figured out how to profit from all arrangements in the best way possible. As for me the best scenes were definitely in a mirror room. The hidden monster in Tsukishima residence, right? Mysterious, frightening, and cold. So many fascinating scenes... Moreover, the deal maker is that one scene in the last episode, when Momo was doing flower arrangements while explaining what Pooh taught her. Both her words and flowers were so beautiful I was close to tears, and I couldn’t shake off that feeling till I finished the episode. I still am close to tears. Every time when I return to Born to be a Flower to rewatch my favourite moments, this one is a must-see for me.

It’s still a wonder to me how all those feelings were so well-written and down-to-earth. Relationship between Momo and Pooh had that natural flow I really adored. And if you want to feel some of that joy-filled pure love that bloomed between them, this drama is just for you. 

Overall, Born to be a Flower for me was like the greatest essay on love.

His competitor was Tomine Issei, a prominent wine critic, whom his father adopted before his death.

Shoujo manga recommendations - sad(ish)/tragedy

So, some of these manga actually have a happy ending (I’m not saying which, cause spoilers) and a few of these are generally happy with some tragic events among the story, so. 

And they range from “ok, it’s sad, I guess” to “oh my god, why??”

Also, most of them touch the supernatural theme (either with vampires, ghosts etc)

1.      100% Gokuama Kareshi

2.      Babel no Tegami

Even after all these years, you’re still the only one I think of… I’ll put all of my feelings into this letter for you.

3.      Black Bird

The world is full of mysterious "things," but life keeps on going peacefully because no one can see them--except Misao. Harada Misao has the special power to see these "things," but she doesn't tell anybody and tries to continue leading a happy high school life. What’s more shocking is that she discovers that ten years later, Kakeru will no longer be with them. Future Naho asks her to watch over him closely.

Tomodomo Tours: Matsumoto, la ciudad de orange (parte 1)

Vuelve Tomodomo Tours, el apartado del blog en que la ficción se hace realidad y visitamos lugares donde se ambientan nuestras obras. Esta vez le toca el turno a nuestro título más aclamado, éxito en ventas y Premio al mejor manga shôjo en el XXII Salón del Manga de Barcelona: orange de Ichigo Takano. Una historia conmovedora y llena de bondad que recomendaríamos a todo el mundo sin dudar, y que además transcurre en un sitio con mucho encanto, Matsumoto.

Empecemos pues nuestro viaje virtual, que tal vez os pueda servir como guía para un futuro viaje de verdad, y que os transportará al mundo de Naho, Kakeru, Suwa y compañía.

Matsumoto es una ciudad situada en la prefectura de Nagano, a 220 kilómetros de Tokio y con una población de más de 200.000 habitantes. Está muy bien conectada con transporte público: autobuses, trenes, incluso hay un aeropuerto. Para los fans de orange, la opción más divertida sería montar en el tren exprés Azusa, que da nombre a uno de los personajes. No sólo el tren nos recordará a los compañeros de Naho, sino que las estaciones también nos irán sonando a medida que nos vayamos acercando a nuestro destino.

“Chino” (aparte de sonar gracioso para un español) es el apellido de Takako, la amiga seria y directa de Naho, y “Kami-Suwa” nos recuerda a Hiroto Suwa, aunque se escriba de forma distinta.

Al llegar a la estación de Matsumoto, lo primero es situarse y, aparte del mapa de Google que incluimos en la parte 2 de esta guía, podéis conseguir uno en papel en la Oficina de información. No sólo tienen mapas y panfletos turísticos corrientes, sino que también hay mapas temáticos de orange, tanto del manga como del anime. Nosotros visitamos la ciudad en agosto del 2019 y no parecía que fueran a acabarse. Si vais a Matsumoto, no dejéis de pedirlos, son muy prácticos y totalmente gratuitos.

Una vez fuera de la estación, hay que matar el gusanillo tras las 3 horas de trayecto desde la capital. Una buena opción es la panadería Murata, que sirvió de modelo a la panadería que regentan los padres de Azusa en el manga.

He aquí una pequeña muestra. El exótico bollo de nozawana es el de delante y el popular pan de curry, el de detrás. Estaban todos buenísimos y acabamos pasándonos más de una vez. Los precios no son nada caros y, si os acercáis por la tarde antes de que cierren, es posible que os llevéis algún producto rebajado.

Tras haber recuperado las fuerzas, empezamos el paseo y nos encontramos enseguida paisajes que aparecen en la "Carta 4" del tomo 1 de orange. El parque de las flores y el reloj, una apacible plaza donde es común ver pasar la tarde a estudiantes y familias, es la portadilla del capítulo. Justo delante está el centro comercial Parco, donde Naho, Azusa y Takako se compran unos shorts. Son paisajes urbanos de lo más habituales en Japón, pero si eres fan, los disfrutas como si te hubieras transportado dentro de la historia.

En un rincón de la misma plaza se encuentra la confitería Kaiundô, un establecimiento que encantará a los amantes de lo dulce. Hay pasteles de estilo occidental y también mochi y todo tipo de delicias japonesas. Pero lo que más sorprende es el robot de helado, que lo elabora y sirve sin ningún tipo de asistencia humana. Sólo hace falta comprarle una moneda a la cajera, introducirla en la máquina y disfrutar del espectáculo.

En el manga, Naho escribe en su diario, "Nos comimos un cucurucho en la confitería Kaiundô. Hoy tocaba de Calpis. Me lo pedí grande." Los cucuruchos vienen en tamaño mediano o grande por el mismo precio y, aunque el robot solamente sirva helado de un tipo, los sabores cambian según el día. ¡A nosotros nos tocó el de arándano! (y grande, por supuesto)

Siguiente parada: la calle comercial Nakadori. Se trata de una calle histórica con edificios de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX, en cuyo interior se hallan tiendas y restaurantes. El de la foto se llama "Kurassic-kan" y sale en la "Carta 17" del tomo 4 de orange. Está abierto al público y alberga exposiciones, talleres y un café. En la placita de delante hay un pozo con una palanca, ideal para los días calurosos de verano. El agua de Matsumoto es de muy buena calidad, de ahí que los fideos soba estén especialmente ricos en esta zona y sean su plato más representativo.

En japonés este tipo de construcción se llama kura, se solía usar como almacén y se caracteriza por sus paredes negras con líneas blancas entrecruzadas. Es un auténtico placer pasear por Nakadori y admirar estas casas tan elegantes.

El puente Nakanohashi nos sonará de la portadilla de la "Carta 3". En los farolillos pone “Matsumoto Bon Bon”, el nombre del festival que la pandilla visita en la "Carta 8". Ichigo Takano no sólo es una maestra narrando historias emocionantes, sino que se esmeró en compartir la cultura y los encantos de su ciudad. Nosotros llegamos unos días después del festival y no pudimos verlo, así que tenemos una excusa para volver otro año.

La vista de la panadería Sweet y el puente Saiwaibashi desde la otra orilla del río coincide exactamente con la portada del tomo 3 de la serie. El edificio se ubica en la calle Nawate, otro lugar retro y lleno de cafeterías y tiendecitas encantadoras. Muy cerca se encuentra también Furusato, la tienda de taiyaki que Takano-sensei recomienda en los "Agradecimientos" del tomo 1.

Por cierto, si os gustan las ranas, os encontraréis muchas en la calle Nawate. Desde estatuas, hasta dulces y toda clase de recuerdos en forma de este anfibio. Dice la leyenda que, hace mucho tiempo, su croar era un sonido característico que alegraba las noches en las orillas del río Metoba. Sin embargo, con la industrialización, las aguas se fueron contaminando y las ranas se acabaron marchando. Era imposible recuperar lo que se había perdido, pero los habitantes decidieron conservar su memoria como símbolo de Nawate, proteger el barrio y el río, rezar y esperar que las ranas regresaran algún día.

Orange (Mangá)

Um amigo maravilhoso me deu essa coleção de 5 volumes do mangá Orange, e eu simplesmente preciso agradecê-lo por isso. Como foi o primeiro mangá que li, no começo achei estranho, pelo fato de não ter a estrutura de um livro normal (a ordem dos quadrinhos é inversa e o lado que se lê também). Mas, essa história me tocou tanto o coração que decidi incorporá-la a uma campanha extremamente importante: o Setembro Amarelo. 

Orange é um mangá que vai contar pra nós a história de 5 adolescentes, melhores amigos, que estão no Ensino Médio e acabam vivenciando uma determinada situação que ainda reflete neles 10 anos depois. Naho Takamiya, nossa personagem principal, logo no começo recebe uma carta dela mesma de um futuro 10 anos após ao dela, com um único pedido: mudar uma parte do futuro. E, ao ler essa carta, ela descobre que irá conhecer um garoto na escola chamado Kakeru Naruse, que irá fazer uma diferença absurda em sua vida, e na vida de seus amigos. Ao longo dos 5 volumes, vemos a visão da Naho de 16 anos e a de 26, e todas as suas experiências sendo compartilhadas através daquela carta.

Com uma escrita extremamente leve, a autora nos dá o melhor dos mundos: romance, ficção científica e abordagem de um tema que precisa ser constantemente debatido: o suicídio. Sim, Kakeru tem depressão, e num primeiro momento, se suicida e deixa marcas em todos os seus amigos de escola, sobretudo em Naho, que o amava incansavelmente. E é exatamente por isso que quis refazer a resenha; muitos adolescentes morrem todos os dias de suicídio, e eles dão sinais disso para todos a volta, e quase ninguém percebe. Orange não é só aquela historinha linda de amor de colegial, mas é um aviso para todos nós sobre o peso de nossos arrependimentos, e do que poderíamos ter feito. Mesmo depois de 10 anos, os amigos sofrem uma perda que poderia ser evitada, se eles não estivessem tão preocupados com as próprias vontades, os próprios medos, as próprias inseguranças e aflições.

Que nós possamos amar mais e julgar menos; ser mais gratos ao que temos, ao invés de reclamar do que não temos. Que possamos olhar para o nosso próximo, ajudá-lo a carregar suas dores, e nos permitirmos deixar ser ajudados. Espero que Orange te sirva de exemplo, como serviu a mim, pois eu percebi que, nem sempre, um sorriso é verdadeiro e uma fala é "coisa de adolescente".

Hello lovelies! My name is Naho, a Cuban writer and reader who challenge herself to achieve a goal in less than a year. Here is the deal, some weeks back, a friend of mine send me this pdf with the "100 libros que debes leer antes de morir" (100 books that you have to read before you die), I don't really paid much attention to it, but recently I have felt like I'm up to a challenge, so a I gave my self one, read all those books before the year ends, which means I have like 8 months, and to making it more interesting (and considering a lot of the books that were in the pdf were the first ones of a series) I decided that I would read the whole series.

Also, I wanted to share it with someone, and given the fact that I'm a very enthusiastic reader, and that I like to talk about any book I'm reading on the moment, I didn't want to FINALLY annoy any of my friends (who are all stars and always have the time go hear my rumbling), so I decided to share it here, where people who would like to read me rumbling.

Just to MAKE it crystal clear, I will share my feelings and opinions after every book, or while I'm reading it. Im not gonna say if a book is good, or if is bad, I'll say if I like it, or if I don't. The rest of you don't have to agree with me, that's the wonderful thing about being individuals, each of us has their own opinion.

¡Hola corazones! Mi nombre es Nahomis, una escritora y lectora cubana que se retó a conseguir una meta en menos de un año. Hace unas semanas atrás una amiga me envió un pdf titulado "100 libros que debes leer antes de morir" al principio no le hice mucho caso, pero, queriendo que alguien me rete a algo relacionado con la lectura y fallando en el intento, me reté yo misma. En lo que queda de año me leeré cada uno de esos 100 libros y los que estén relacionados con ellos, teniendo en cuenta que muchos de los que aparecen en la lista son sólo las primeras partes de sagas completas. Así que resumiendo, tengo 8 meses para leerme un montón de libros.

Esto es algo que quise ir compartiendo con alguien, mis sentimientos tras terminar cada libro digo, y teniendo en cuenta que soy una lectora extremadamente entusiasta que me gusta estar comentado todo el tiempo lo que va leyendo (y que no quiero finalmente llenarles la Copa a las pobres almas en desgracia que me aguantan llenandolosfe toda la información que está por venir) pues me abrí está cuenta acá y lo iré compartiendo con Uds. Al menos con aquellos que les interese.

Algo que quiero que quede claro es que lo que voy a compartir son MIS sentimientos y MIS opiniones de cada libro, no voy a decir si un libro es bueno o malo, diré si me gustó o no. Y por supuesto no tienen que concordar todos conmigo. Es lo maravilloso de ser individuos, que cada uno tiene su propia opinión sobre algo.

É bem comum vermos um(a) autor(a) lançando um livro spin-off de alguma grande obra sua. Muitas das vezes sendo apenas compilados gigantes sobre o ponto de vista de algum personagem específico diante dos eventos principais. É uma tática que me divide: se amo uma obra, é quase que natural que queira saber e ver mais daquele universo, daquele mundo, seja como for; ao mesmo tempo, reconheço que esta é apenas uma tática para manter a marca em alta e arrecadar uma fortuna em cima dos tão ávidos e apaixonados fãs.

Esse mesmo conflito também vale para algumas sequências. E já que este texto se situa no campo dos mangás, apresento um exemplo do meio: Boruto. A marca Naruto é muitíssimo popular e, acima de tudo, lucrativa. Com o término da obra na edição 72, era de se esperar que houvesse um clamor (tanto de fãs quanto dos engravatados) por mais conteúdo oriundo daquela mitologia. Não tardou para lançarem light novels, mais filmes, e, claro, uma continuação do mangá (e do anime), agora estrelado pela nova geração de ninjas e tendo Boruto, filho de Naruto com Hinata, como seu protagonista.

Como fã da franquia, pensei que era um bocado desnecessário continuarem com o enredo. Por mais que tivesse achado o final um tanto apressado, até que me dei por satisfeita da experiência como um todo (continuando, o enredo se tornaria absurdamente convoluto, e sem necessidade alguma). Mas é também como fã da franquia que não pude deixar de conferir cada última notícia sobre o mangá e o anime de Boruto. Amo aquele universo, então é algo quase que natural (além disso, o guri é fruto do casal que mais shippei desde o começo de tudo, então há um certo carinho extra; eu me preocupo com o moleque, então se alguém tiver a pachorra de dar um murro na cara dele, vai se ver comig--!), mesmo que a equipe criativa não seja a mesma (Kishimoto atua como supervisor do projeto).

“Sendo assim, uma obra menor, em tese, não deve sofrer esse tipo de pressão para um spin-off ou continuação.”

Foi o que pensei até ver que Orange, mangá Shoujo que tanto amei (e comentei sobre no blog), teve uma sexta edição lançada, além de um filme que conta o futuro alternativo gerado pelo fim da história principal e apresenta o ponto de vista do personagem Hiroto Suwa (o qual ainda não assisti). Pois bem, esse sexto volume contém exatamente o que acabei de falar (embora tenha ouvido por aí que o longa tenha material extra exclusivo dele).

Foi com um misto de empolgação e ceticismo que comecei a leitura, e a terminei com o conflito interno ainda intacto. Veja bem, o enredo é interessante, até porque o futuro alternativo (com o Kakeru vivo e casado com a Naho, com quem tem um filho) é lindíssimo e emocionante para quem leu as primeiras cinco edições (e chorou horrores em todas elas), assim como é curioso ter noção do que ocorreu na linha temporal “original”, na qual o grupo de amigos não conseguiu salvar Kakeru e tomou a iniciativa de enviar as cartas para si mesmos no passado, a fim de impedir seu suicídio.

O que torna esse segundo aspecto aprazível é justamente o fato de presenciarmos essa linha temporal através de Suwa, que, aqui, foi quem casou com a Naho e teve um filho com ela. Afinal, ele sempre fora apaixonado por ela. E, claro, isso criou uma rivalidade, ainda que saudável (a ponto de não comprometer a amizade), entre ele e Kakeru, que também estava interessado na garota.

A autora, Ichigo Takano, não se acanhou e desconstruiu parte do altruísmo de Suwa, mostrando seu lado mais vulnerável. Quando você se apaixona por alguém, e esse sentimento se desenvolve em amor, você quer que a pessoa a quem almeja seja feliz. Mas, no fundo, de preferência, que seja feliz com você. Isso é humano, é normal. É preciso maturidade para aceitar que talvez não haja reciprocidade, que o amor da sua vida não o enxerga da mesma forma, que, no fim das contas, sequer havia alguma chance entre ambos. E é por esse dilema que nosso protagonista passa, chegando ao ponto de secretamente invejar o amigo e questionar a si mesmo.

Toda a edição mostra essa batalha que se passa na cabeça do personagem de forma bastante honesta, ainda que repetitiva em certos momentos. Todavia, você já sabe que o Suwa da linha temporal inicial ficou com a Naho, mesmo passando por essa peleja entre razão e emoção. Mas, claro, esse fato não me impediu de derramar algumas lágrimas durante a jornada (tem passagens que doem de tão verdadeiras).

Agora, honestamente... Essa história precisava ser contada através de outro ponto de vista? Não. Até porque as cinco primeiras edições formam um enredo amarradinho, sem furos, e de forma plenamente satisfatória. Mas entra naquele argumento lá do início dessa dissertação, não é mesmo? Se você amou essa história, é bem capaz de se interessar pela sexta edição e, pasme, uma futura sétima edição (anunciada ao término do mangá, na nota da autora). Com isso, é óbvio que teremos os pontos de vista dos personagens remanescentes.

E, bem, é óbvio que irei ler o que vier, mesmo que questione tal tática.
