I rlly struggle so hard to write ler Hajime im so sorry 😭 So I went with ler Upa instead cause I just LOVE his dynamic with Nico 💖💖💖💖💖

“You’ll have to catch me first!” were Nico’s last words before dashing on out of the room. Was Upa really about to indulge in this childish display, yes, yes he was.

Prior to that, Nico had been up to his usual shenanigans, trying to get his “master” to teach him his sick moves. Of course, Upa couldn’t do that with the potential harm it could cause, but nothing he said could deteer away the stubborn greenette. When all hope felt lost, he remembered something that Nico’s cellmates shared with him. Something that would surely tire out this bundle of joy. It was a silly plan, but Upa had no other choice.

“Nico” spoke up the blue haired male sternly. But that didn’t last long as his voice started to waver. “This is so stupid…” he muttered under his breath before speaking up once more. “If you don’t stop, I’ll uhh… t-tickle you…”. His cheeks slowly went up in flames, although the talisman smacked dead center in his forehead did a good job of hiding his evergrowing blush.

Nico felt taken aback at the sudden threat, but it didn’t last long as his face lit up with excitement “Haha! You’ll have to catch me first~”.

And thus we go back to their current predicament. I mean, Upa kinda brought this upon himself. With no other choice, he chased after Nico down the halls of Nanba prison (surely they’ll get scolded later but whatever).

Nico’s cheerful laugh echoed all over the place, while Upa had the most determined look on his face. Nico might’ve been fast, but Upa had a plan. Taking a detour, he managed to catch up to Nico. Ungraciously tackling him, causing botj of them to roll across the ground, until Upa managed to straddle Nico’s hips.

“Hyahaha! You’re too good at this game, master. You’ll have to teach me your strategy later~”.

“We’ll see about that” Upa’s hands quickly latched onto Nico’s sides. Albeit, he wasn’t sure what he was doing, something as silly as tickling wasn’t something he was used to. Seeing his uncertainty, Nico decided to help him out. He softly grabbed Upa’s hands and guided them towards his tummy.

“Try here instead!” spoke out the greenette with a bright smile.

“Erm… like this?” Upa started to slowly wiggle his fingers along the spot, a bit clumsily at that.

“Ehehehe! Yeheah just like thahat!” Nico playfully kicked his legs out from bejinf like a puppy.

Seeing the cute reactions from his friend underneath him, Upa started to gain s bit more confidence and sped up his fingers. Enjoying watching Nico wriggling all over the place.

“What about here? This tickle too?~” he’s not sure where this teasing came from, but I guess we’re rolling with it. Upa moved his hands up to Nico’s ribs, gently massaging between each bone.

“aCK! AHAHAHA! YEHEHES! IT REHEHEALLY TICKLES!!!” Nico squealed and threw his head back in boisterous laughter. Upa couldn’t help but giggle along, his laugh was so happy and carefree, so contagious.

“Let’s see… maybe here??~” the blue haired male gave a soft squeeze to Nico’s hips, almost getting bucked off in the process. “Oh? Bad spot?~” Upa started rubbing his thumbs along the sensitive hipbones, causing Nico to shriek in ticklish glee.

“WAHH! HYAHAHAHA! I-I CAHAHAN’T! I GIHIHIVE!!!” Nico shrieked out as he wheezed in laughter. His long, green hair having become a complete mess with all his squirming.

Seeing how Nico’s body stopped reacting so vividly, Upa decided to cut him some slack and got off of him. He looked down at the panting inmate, feeling a sense of pride in being able to wear him out. He’d never admit it out loud, but Upa had the time of his life playing this silly game with Nico. Perhaps it wasn’t so bad having him around.

° My Top Ten Favorite Anime:

10. Ride your wave

This one was from when I first got into anime and just added every anime edits into my ``watch later`` list, way back in 2019 If I'm not mistaken. But I only watched it at the start of 2022.

I went into it completely blind, knowing nothing.

This movie was so enjoyable and cute, it just made me want to rip my heart out in the end. The characters are so precious omg.

I don't recommend it, bc it's so sad. So so incredibly sad. I sobbed fr.

9. Kaichou wa Maid-sama.

I feel like this one is a classic in romance anime, I can't be sure tho.

My first everromance gerne anime that set my expectations high. I fell in love with Misa and I fell in love with Usui. I just liked that ``Tsundere`` type of character.

I was introduced to this anime with the help of crappy youtube videos that are split into 204 parts😬 I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT ANIME WAS but I remember rewatching it ALL THE TIME.

I know some things aren't exactly right in the anime and I haven't watched it in so long but I was used to it- I watched uhm, indian serials that were often on the TV, and one of them, was ` ` Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? ` ` It's about this poor clumsy girl who embarrasses herself always and a serious strict business type of rich guy falling in love.

Now that I look at it tho, the "romantic" moments were so cringe omfg.

8. To Your Eternity.

I like the pain. I admit it. In the first episode, I bawled my eyes out.

Every couple of episodes were sad. And it made me cry again and again and again. I'm on season 2 now. Did I cry? Yes.

Will I sell my soul to revive the first (every) character that died? Absolutely? Does it hurt thinking about the first person we ever met? Yes. Yes, it does.

If you are looking to cry your heart out I recommend this.

7. Nanbaka.

Honestly can't get enough, I love this mystery plot of putting the main character in completely unbreakable cuffs and forcing him to use the power they grant.

I love the guards and the cell-mates, they are the best.

definitely, underrated anime that won't come back😢 I will love it till the day I die.

6. Mob Psycho 100.

I don't have much to say about this anime, I just love it.

It's just wholesome. I love the characters and just ONE's works in general, like One Punch man.

But I think it's just Mob that did it for me. He is so simple and he touches very relatable problems. It's different from shounen animes.

Also Reigan. Just Reigan.

5. Devilman: Crybaby

Another pain injection that I took, my god I also went into this blind and... Yeah I wasn't ready.

Putting aside all the... Explicit parts... It's pretty sad, I wish Akira had a happy end but the reality isn't like that and this anime shoved it down my throat.

Ugh, the pain was so good tho. Completely shattered my expectations.

Bonus points for the soundtracks.

4. Death Note

One of the best, it ended perfectly for me. The deaths were so... Peaceful. It almost disturbed me.

But the reason why I watched it and loved it was Law and Light ofc. The epic 2 geniuses competing against each other. I have no words.

3. JoJo part 3: Stardust Crusaders.

Because yes. It entertained me, Joseph is one big fat reason why I watched it tho. Absolutely bonkers how he had another son in part 4.

The adventure genre is one of my favorite genres and this sure checks that. It's also kind of nostalgic for me??? Cause I remember I made those kinds of imaginary power holder humanoid/creatures (Stands) in my childhood mind and this was my dream come true lol. I couldn't be happier with this type of anime's and I can watch it over and over.

I laughed so much throughout the series, even when DIO came in! (after I accepted that avdol and iggy weren't coming back.)

2. Attack on Titan

Deserved second place. I love politics and this type of complicated world-building where you can't distinguish right from wrong. Even with basic things.

Do I love Eren? Absolutely.

Is he in the right to commit genocide? I don't know...

Watching and growing up with these characters really had an impact on me, I MEAN I CAN'T EVEN REWATCH THE SHOW BC I KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THEM IN THE FUTURE.

I hold them so very close to my heart.

1. One Piece.

World-building. One Piece can be only about world-building and I would still love it.

And ofc the characters, their backstories, and their relationships are the sprinkles.

Politics (for me) are cherries on top.

I want to analyze every single thing in this. From characters to literally just geography, etc. I won't get tired of this show. It's full of so many mysteries.

I like Mogami Arc in general buttt, the scene where Mob is just a human...

It's so unsettling... How Mogami just watches and observes Mob.

“For the last game! Is of course, the sake barrel tournament!” Mitsuru claimed, while floating over the roaring audience. After explaining what the objective was, the game soon began.

Samon immediately charged after Kiji, while Honey and Trois quickly ran towards the large wooden barrel, with cell 8 on their tail.

I feel myself getting worried, knowing that Trois and Honey weren’t really much of a fighter. So cell 8 beating them wouldn't really be much of a surprise.

“Quit it Monkey! Don’t you dare ruin my makeup! Do you know how much time I spent on this!” Kiji cried out, using his dual weapons to dodge Samon’s swinging staff.

“Shut up, Pheasant!” Samon shouted, trying to at least hit one of the pressure spots on Kiji’s body.

Suddenly Trois grabs Honey’s leg before swinging him around, and tossing him towards the wooden sake barrel, Honey landing perfectly in the middle, breaking the wooden seal over the wooden sake barrel, before falling in, and getting soaked by the sake.

The audience being completely silent, clearly shocked by what Trois had done, before roaring out cheers of excitement.

“And there ya have it folks! Seems like Building 3 finally won the new year's tournament, for once!” Mitsuru announced over the mic, clearly pumped up.

Suddenly Kiji brings one of his hands, and places it on his hip, striking a victorious pose. “Hmp, and that’s what you all get for doubting me.” Kiji purred out, his confidence showing.

Honey soon rises from the wooden sake barrel about to shout at Trois for what he just did, before trying to process everything that had happened staring back at the said frenchie.

Once he realizes what had happened he gets out of the barrel before cheering himself. Trois on the other hand stares at me, before flashing a charming, but gentle smile.

I felt my cheeks getting warm, before smiling back. Giving him a thumbs up. “Aren’t you going to give him a victory kiss, inmate 6?” Ahato asked, giving me a closed-eyed smile.

“I suppose so.” I replied, leaning against the red railings, desperately trying to calm down my raging blush. Soon enough Cell 6 returned back to their seats. Each boy being seated on my side.

“I, Ahato, is always and very impressed with what you do! You did great, Kiji Onee-sama! We’ll finally get a raise!~” Ahato fanboyed, high-fiving Kiji with both of his arms.

“Aren’t you forgetting something, Mon Amour~” Trois asked, tapping his cheek with his pointer finger. I rolled my (E/C) coloured eyes at him, before giving in, and giving him a victory kiss on his cheek.

While Honey sat on the other side of me, completely ignoring the both of us. The warden soon started her speech congratulating the winning building.

During said speech I had managed to nudge Honey’s arm using my elbow, catching his attention. I pointed to a different building, building 13.

While pointing to the said different building, I was also directly pointing at a certain pink haired shinobi. This action made Honey blush, turning his gaze away from me, and staring at the shinobi.

‘He totally has the hots for him.’ I thought to myself smugly, while smirking. From the corner of my eye, I saw the said shinobi waving at Honey, which Honey waved back. A little smile grazing his face.

‘I didn’t know he could make that face.’ I thought to myself, finally ignoring the two of them, and focusing on the speech.

Soon enough, the speech was over, and the feast took place! After the feast we got escorted back to our cell. “Goodnight you three!~” Kiji announced, doing his final rounds before going home.

Suddenly Honey raises himself using his elbows. Trois doing the same shortly after. While I just turned at them, laying down, too lazy to sit up.

“This year was nice.” Trois commented, smiling softly. “Another year, where I get to see your hideous face, once again, Trois.” Honey teased, a smirk planted on his face. Trois ignored his comment, paying attention to me.

“What did you two want, exactly?” I asked, my curiosity getting the best of me. “A lingerie viewing exhibit~” Both of them purred out, clearly excited. A little blush could be seen on their cheeks. While their eyes sparkled.

I just shivered, not knowing why they’re so fascinated with women’s underwear. “Lights out!” Ahato announced, before shortly shutting off the lights after. “What about you, (Y/N)?” Trois asked, while Honey didn’t say anything. Although, clearly listening in.

“A phone that stores all genres of Manga, Manhua, Manhwas, and Anime!” I announced, excited. My (E/C) eyes sparkling. “That sounds nice.” Trois commented, a small smile grazing his features.

Soon enough Honey slowly went to sleep, snuggling deeper inside his dark purple futon, the both of us following shortly after. Trois slowly gets up from his mint green futon, and slips in my (Y/F/C) futon.

Trois held me protectively, yet softly, his legs tangled with mine. He raises a few of my (H/C) coloured hair out of my forehead, before planting a soft kiss. Giving my lips a small peck as well. I placed my hand on his cheek, caressing it. He softly grabs my wrist, before planting another kiss directly on it.

Giving me yet another gentle loving smile. Me, softly smiling back.

“Ugh, get a room.” Honey groaned out, annoyed. “Says the one who has a crush on that ninja from building 13.” I replied, annoyed as well, clearly just trying to enjoy peace, and quiet with my lover.

“What!?”

The next day soon came, as well as our prizes. After eating breakfast in the cafeteria. Feeling absolute euphoria eating (Y/F/F), my favorite!~

While Trois ate some Cream stew, and Honey a clam chowder. We quickly got escorted to Kazari’s lab by Kiji. “Oh, hello there number 6. Just wait here, while I grab your prize.” Kazari explained, hurrying to go get the prize from another room.

I sat on a chair, patiently waiting for Kazari to come back. Soon after she comes back with a (Y/F/C) coloured phone, which she hands to me.

“It has all the latest Mangas and Animes, along with some of the oldest ones, and ones in between.” Kazari added, petting my head.

“Thank you so much Kazari!~” I cheered, quickly opening the phone. Hopping on a Manga I’ve always wanted to read. Soon enough we got to the boy’s prize.

Trois inviting Uno, thinking he might want to see it as well, much to Honey’s dismay. Kiji soon comes back, fetching us, before taking us to another separate room. The boys quickly head inside, clearly excited.

“Oh my~” Both boys mutter out, surprised. Once they settle down from their excitement, they scatter looking at the different lingeries, bras, and panties.

“Oh my god! This is pure heaven!~” Honey cheered, looking at the different selections of panties. “They even have white lace~” He mutters out, reading the sign on the bottom. His emerald eyes sparkling with endearment.

Uno soon joins in, entering through the door, before looking at a certain baby blue lingerie two piece set. His ocean coloured eyes sparkling with excitement.

I just stare at the unnecessary commotion their making, my (E/C) orbs judging them ever so slightly. As much as I loved my perverted boyfriend, Trois, sometimes his pervertedness can get out of hand.

I quickly go back to reading (F/M) on my(Y/F/C) phone, ignoring them, and leaning against the wall. That focus slowly breaking from the commotion the boys were making.

I walk around, looking at the different things as well. Before stumbling on a plain (Y/F/C) corset vest. ‘I have been wanting to try a corset for the last few days.’ I wondered to myself, not knowing that I was actually muttering it out. All of a sudden I felt someone hugging me from behind, making me jump, since I was surprised.

I looked behind me only to instantly calm down, seeing that it was only Trois. He places a few strands of my (H/L) (H/C) behind my ear, before trailing a few light, fluttery kisses down my neck. I chuckle, the sensation making me feel slightly ticklish. Making me blush lightly.

“Did that one catch your eye, mon chéri~” Trois asks, his deep rose coloured eyes showing nothing but mischief. “And what if I say yes?” I asked him back, wondering what he had stored.

“Ugh! I told you before, get a fucking room!”

“Damn pretty boy!”

“Apparently Honey was allowed to stay at cell 11, building 13 for the night.” Trois explained, using his towel to dry his hair, before brushing it. I nod, to show that I was listening.

“Lights out!” Kiji announces, before doing another round. Soon after the lights shut off, covering us in total darkness. The only light coming from the moon in the starry sky.

“I got you a little of something (Y/N).”

“And what might that be?”

I sat up from my (Y/F/C) futon, curious for what he got me. He quickly goes towards one of the white fancy wardrobes, pulling on one of the bottom drawers, before fetching a medium sized (Y/F/C) wrapped box.

He hands me the box, excited for me to open it. Once I opened it, I realized that it was the corset vest I took a liking to. “How did you even get this?” I asked him, generally surprised, before excitement took place.

He ignored my question, quickly pecking my lips. “You’re too cute for your own good, Mon Amour.” Trois purred out, taking my hand, and kissing it.

“Such a gentleman~” I praised him, feeding his ever growing ego. “Do you mind if you put it on me?” I ask him, turning away in order to hide my red face. “Whatever you need sweetheart~”

Trois sits beside me, before grabbing my wrist, which makes me fall directly on his lap, facing him. He quickly fetches the corset, placing it on me.

I hook the pieces on the front. I feel Trois’ hands on each side of my hips, guiding them up and down, before getting the two strings from the back of the corset, wrapping it around his hands, and pulling.

I slightly jumped, getting startled, before relaxing once again. Once he had completely pulled them he quickly tied them. “You look like an absolute God/Goddess in that (Y/N).” Trois whispers into my ear, before placing his head on my shoulder, cuddling me.

He soon raises his head, capturing my lips against his. Our tongues moved smoothly against each other. We quickly pulled apart, since the need for air was growing stronger. A string of saliva connecting to each other’s lips.

We both panted, clearly out of breath. He headed over to my neck, covering it with noticeable hickeys, and love bites. Before I could moan, I covered my mouth with my hand, so that I wouldn’t make any embarrassing noises.

“People can see them.” I panted out, blush covering my cheeks, from what had earlier happened. “Good~ People can see that you're mine.” Trois replied, smirking to himself.

“Oh my God! Trois what are you doing!” Kiji shrieked out, shining his flashlight on us. “Wait, is that the corset from the exhibit?!” Honey questions, a mixture of surprise and disgust hinted in his voice. “Honey weren’t you supposed to be with your ninja boyfriend!” I questioned back, panicking.

Oc Creation: Names

the writing took longer than I expected but I’m done with the first part all thanks goes to ayalaatreides for proofreading and editing.

When naming, its very self explanatory, they have to have at least a number in their name. Since numbers are the central themes, it's no surprise that's what all the characters are named after. There's a heavy use of Japanese mythology and folklore in the series. They have a pattern, it’s fun and easy once you get the hang of it. Let’s begin with the inmate side of naming: the inmates go by aliases instead of their real names, for instance in flashbacks no one referred the characters by their current names. In a post I explained cell 13’s Jyugo,Uno Nico and Rock’s names; as I said before, naming can be fairly easy once you get the hang of it.

Inmates

The inmates’ names are from their id number, but it could also be something deeper. With Jyugo, “Jyugo” is the Japanese number for “15”,  his cell number. Uno is Spanish for “one” from the card game, citing his gambling habits and part of his id number “11”. Rock, when pronounced in Japanese, is “Rokku”, “ro” meaning “6”, “kuu” meaning “nine”, together mean “69”. Rock could mean as “strong as a rock”, like his inhuman strength would suggest. In Nico’s name, “ni” means “2” in the Japanese language, and “ko” is the phonetic symbol for “go” meaning “5”. Nico’s name means “second child”, his status being the youngest and most childlike out of all of his cell mates as well as his second personality that comes out later in the series. His name has different meanings attached, which are “smile” and “sunlight”, like his bright and energetic personality.

You have to remember. you can count numbers many ways in Japanese, for example Tsukumo’s name means “99” in Japanese. In naming, take apart what's in the name, Rock’s  “rokku”, “ro” being “six”, “ku” being “nine”. When it comes to a character’s kanji look at Kusatsu and Fujisan’s names. Kusatsu’s name in kanji is taken from Kusatsu, a town known for its hot springs. “Ku” means “9”, “Sa” means “3”, “Tsu” could mean “2”. Don’t believe me? Look at the kanji. As for Fujisan, it's a play on the term “Fujisan”, another notable hot spring, “fu” comes from “futa” meaning “2”, and “ji” like Nico, “ji” is the phonetic symbol for “shi” meaning “4” and “sa” = “san” meaning “3”, fitting since they both love hot springs so much.  

Now time for the inmates from the other buildings. I’ll start with building 3, inmates Trois and Honey., “Trois” is french for “3”, his nationality being french. For Honey, the Japanese pronunciation is “hani”, “ha” from “hachi” meaning “eight”, “ni” being “two” like his cell number. Another american, like Rock whose name is in Japanese pronunciation.

In naming, look at their nationality when naming your inmates. If that's the case, then why is Musashi given a Japanese name instead of  a German name? Easy: it's to represent the building he resides in. Building 4’s theme is culture, since it has Japanese culture it’s made to reflect the theme of the building. Musashi's name is broken up into “mu” from “muttsu” meaning “6”, “sa” being “san” meaning “3”, “shi” being “4”, like his inmate id number 634. His name comes from Miyamoto Musashi, the author of the Five Rings, a renowned Japanese swordsmen.

Last but not least: building 5 inmates Upa, Liang and Qi. Their names are reflected in their nationality being Chinese. Liang’s name is Mandarin Chinese for “2”, his cell number. For Qi it’s  “seven” like part of his cell number “7” in 71. As for Upa, “pa” is read as “eight” in Chinese. Like Nico, Musashi, and Uno, he has other meanings in his name as well., Upa’s name came from isha upa yoga (a form of yoga) referring to how he first appeared meditating, and also a buddhist monk, Upagupta. Qi’s name came from “Qi”, or “the central underlying principle in Chinese traditional medicine and in Chinese martial arts. The practice of cultivating and balancing qi is called qigong.” This links Liang, Upa and Qi together due to them having martial arts,qigong and medicine in their characters.

Now I’m done with the inmate side of naming; time to move on with the guards. They take another step but it’s lot of fun.

Guards

Let’s start off with the guards of building 13, Hajime Sugoroku. Hajime means “begin”, which is used in traditional martial arts such as karate,judo,aikido and kendo, matching Hajimes speciality in combat where he uses his fists for fighting. The kanji in his name means “one”, him being the number one man in Nanba prison. Sugoroku is a traditional Japanese new year’s board game. For his family, his brother Hitoshi’s name means “benevolence”, showing contrast to Hajime’s short tempered and violent temperament. Hitoshi can be spelled as “hitotsu” in different kanji meaning “one”, showing a connection to Hajime being his family.

Next is Seitarou Tanabata. His surname comes from the tanabata legend, and Tanabata’s a star festival held in japan. “Sei” means “star”, “tarou” is used for boys in japan and could also mean “eldest son”., Iif you look closely, his name could have a number if you look at “tarou”. Yamato’s name is from a Japanese battleship, and Yamato is an ancient alternative spelling of japan. The kanji of his name Godai means “five great”, named after the japanese elements from Japanese philosophy.

The guards of Nanbaka are named from characters in Japanese folklore and legend, like Momoko Hyakushiki, Samon Goku, Kenshirou Yozakura, Kiji Mitsuba, Mitsuru Hitokoe. Momoko, Samon, Kenshirou and Kiji are an allusion to the legend of Momotaro. Momoko being Momotarou, Samon the monkey, Kenshirou the dog, Kiji the pheasant. For their names, “momo” in her name is another way of saying “a hundred” in Japanese, and “ko” is used for girls in Japan. “Hyaku” means “a thousand”, “shiki” means “command”. As her name suggests she's a commanding presence in Nanba prison and warden of Nanba prison.

Samon is named after a character from the Chinese novel,  Journey of the West, the Monkey. “Go” means “5” citing building 5 the building he is supervising.

In Kenshirou, “ken” means “dog”, which is his motif in his design, “shi” means “scholarly officer” referring to his intelligent and informed personality, “rou” is a last name usually given to boys in Japan. Yozakura means “four cherry blossoms”. Taken from “yozakura”, an event that takes place after hanami, cherry blossom viewing at night, and “yo” in his surname means “4” referring the building he is supervising.

Kenshirou’s guard dogs of building 4 are named after flowers with numbers., In Japan people use flower language to convey emotions to each other. Since building 4’s theme is culture, it talks about japanese culture which uses hanakotoba (the language of flowers) which is proxy used in japanese culture. The guards are dogs that are different breeds, and they have flowers in their names I = one Ni = two Shi = four “no” is a naming particle using “of” when writing Japanese. Their last name “hana” means “flower” in Japanese. For tThe head guard dog Genrou Byakuya, Genrou’s full name means “mysterious wolf” and “Byakuya” means a “hundred nights”.

Next is Kiji Mitsuba. “Kiji” is Japanese for “pheasant”, “mitsu” is Japanese for “three”, “ba”  meaning “leaf”, his surname together means “three leaves”, a japanese parsley which is a vegetable in Asian cultures. “mitsu” means “3”, which refers to his building that he supervises.

The guards of building 5 are named after characters from the Journey of the West novel. Inori’s name means “wild boar”, “nori” meaning “hicklish”, his surname means “eight commandments”,  taken from zhu bajie a character from Journey of the West who shares the same personality traits as Inori. Part of Houzuki’s name means “law or buddhist”, referencing his outfit, “zuki” means “moon” and “Hou” is another way of saying “Hōshi” , “gen sanzou”. “Sanzou” is taken from “genjou sanzou”, a Chinese buddhist and the monk from Journey of the West, the wandering priest. For the Daisen brothers’ names, “dai” means “great”, “sen” means “sage”. The brothers are named after some of the characters from the Journey of the West. “Roku” means “6”, “koko” means “9”,  “you” means “8”, “riki” at the end means “power”. Rokuriki is named after the immortal of elk power, Youriki after the immortal of antelope power, and Kokoriki the immortal of tiger power, as seen again with their weapons. Ruka’s name means “flow of the river”. “Go” means “5” and “jo” means “pure clean unspoiled”. Ruka’s surname is taken from Sha Wujing, a river ogre from Journey of the West that accompanied Sanzou on his journey. Hachiman is an inmate whose name means “eight thousand”, he's named after a synthetic divinity of archery, and his power hungry nature references this. Also named after Zhu Bajie, the pig, encompassing his violent traits.

For the supervisors of other buildings: for the supervisor from building 1 Tomato Ichijou, “to” means “rabbit”, and in his kanji “ma” means “ten thousand”; “ichi” means “one” and “jou” means “streak”. “Ichi” in his name references the building he supervises. Nijimasu Nanairo means “seven colors”, his whole name together means “7 colored rainbow”. “Nana” meaning “7”, the building  he’s supervising. For Mao, a deputy supervisor, his name “mao” literally means “cat” in Chinese; his surname “ni” means “2”, “ji” means “dance”, “ma” means “under”, and “2” in his surname references the building he is working in. Mao is based on the nekomata, a cat demon with 2 tails for being from building 2. Also a reference to it his love for money, a  reference to another legend, the legend of maneki neko which is seen holding a coin.

To the staff: for Mitsuru Hitokoe, “mitsu” means “3”, “tsuru” means “crane”, “hito” means “one”, “koe” means “voice”. Mitsuru is taken from the folklore “Tsusru no Ongaeshi, the crane returns the favor”. The doctor’s name “okina” means “old man”, “o” means “drive or manage”, “to” means “ten”, “gi” means “justice, righteous”. His name’s taken from “Taketori no Okina”, the adoptive father of Kaguya Hime from The Tale of Princess Kaguya.

Kazari means “to decorate”, and Kagu 8 is an allusion to Princess Kaguya who was adopted by okina, and had many suitors wooed by her beauty. “Kagu” means “god,diety”, and “8” is another way of saying “ya”, the number 8 in Japanese.

So when naming your characters, look at the pattern from their names and how they are arranged closely: they have numbers like the title suggests.

I can just picture Hajime shouting, “Do you speak words?” (the way he says that line in the dubbed anime is just 👌) at her and then explaining how awful and stupid she was for not giving her puppy the eye surgery she needed. I feel like he’d call her out on all her selfish shit, then toss her ass in an empty cell for as long as he could get away with it. I want to see that now.

(that escalated quickly)* Jaehee and Seitarou: both hard workers who try their best and give their all, but Seitarou is much more easily frazzled and upset than she is. I think she’d share her coping mechanisms with him. “… and then you just let all the screams out at the end of the day when you go home.”

2017.09.19 Nanbaka Review!

I got to see JP again ^_^ *peace sign* And I’d always wanted to watch Nanbaka but after a friend told me they gave up after the first episode, I was a little cautious but the fact it got a stage meant that it was good and popular right?...right?! So I watched the anime about 2 weeks before I saw the stage and I loved the anime immediately! It’s so much fun yet still has really dark moments in it! Give me season 3 now!! Anyway, so because of that, I was super excited for the stage even more! And also with the visuals and it having such a great cast: I always enjoy Tomorun’s performance, I love JP, I really like Ire and want to support him whenever I can (without going out of my way), it has NAOYA in it as probably my (most/second) favourite character -- it was looking promising!

NON-SPOILER REVIEW Overall: Guys!! This was absolutely hilarious and so much fun! They were joking when Tomourun said in the dress rehearsals that it's basically idiots running around for 2 hours, because that's literally what happens! It's complete comical madness and it's SO MUCH FUN! I enjoyed this so damn much!! I don't even know where to start with this! It's entertaining, purposely and accidentally funny (parts that are scripted and parts that are adlibbed), there's a lot of audience participation (even teasing one of the characters xD), the songs are very well done, the characters are enjoyable, the story is simple with a lot of madness thrown in, the staging is great and how it's used, lots of running around the theatre so everyone can get close to them, even though it's hilarious I actually ended up crying at one part towards the end, Tomorun's acting was on point as usual, the costume are great, it's just... just go and watch this god dammit! I preordered the DVD at the venue because it's that good! I am trash... Seriously, everyone needs to watch this if they want a good time! I also highly recommend the anime/manga to get a little taste of the show before you start this stage. I need the dvd for this NOW! I need a second stage NOW! Rating: 9/10  - one of the best I've seen this year.

SPOILER REVIEW

PRESHOW

I knew my seat was row 1, but I really didn’t know just how damn close my seat would really be! Also that I'd be right next to the DAMN stairs! I freaked straight away! And then I freaked out even more when I had the ENTIRE row to myself until about 2 minutes before the show started, until eventually one person either side of me finally showed up. There were on 3 of us, in the first row, on the right hand side, right next to the stage! It was ridiculous! I was so happy!! 

I've always had good luck with seating for both JP's and Tomorun's stages. Usually for JP I get within the first 2 or 3 rows for a seat and then with Tomorun, he was right next to me and fighting right in front of me and (this is where I get creepy) his clothing brushed against me when I saw Messiah (here). Also it’s thanks to Tomorun (and my friend recommending I see Binan Koukou because he’s a good actor) that I discovered MakiChan -> we all know my love for MakiChan <3 anyway, so in Nanbaka, Tomorun was literally running past me or stood on the steps or crouched down on the right side of the stage. I think he noticed me pretty much straight away too (I don't know what his eyesight is like) because he seemed to flick his eyes over to me when he could get away with it. When he first went onto the stairs next to me I could see him turn and look right at me a moment before going back into his character. I got all dokidoki <3 

Before the stage started they were playing hard rock like Metallica, which is a wonderful starter to set the mood for this stage! I absolutely loved the songs they were playing so it got me even more excited! And then the music itself in the stage is so good! But I've jumped ahead.

OH! Before I forget, there was one girl who had very obviously come to match Hoshino Yuta; she had this red Chinese-like dress/top on and her hair was platted. I love when fans indirectly cosplay to match the characters -- even though I've heard you shouldn’ do it. I know at places such a Tenimyu and TouMyu there's a strict rule about cosplaying and that it's not allowed so I always assumed it was for all the stages too. But sometimes fans do it where they're still wearing normal clothing and such (I've seen quite a few 'not' MakiChan cosplayers at his stages), it just so happens to be very similar to what one character is wearing xD

Anyway, lets get onto the rest of the stage.

THE STORY

This is very faithful to the anime/manga and we do the main introductions then we go into a new guy joining, next the Taikai is announced and so they do three of the competitions: the Daruma knock out; the Karuta; fighting competition. All the while, someone very suspicious with cuts on their neck and running around the prison and naturally this makes 15 go insane but the others take care of it. However, Musashi provokes him and his duel swords come out and Hajime has to fight him. Finally we get the prison scene where Musashi explains his past and asks 15 to find the guy for both their sakes. Hajime tells him because cell 15 won Jyuugo still has time to say what he wants and he says 'Chance wo Kure / give me a chance' and he returns to the cell and story ends. 

So it's a complete story in a way BUT because of that final scene and the mystery of Jyuugos imprisoner (which is still a mystery in the anime too) they could very easily make a second stage. WHICH I want! Right now! Like tomorrow!

I recommend you watch or read the anime/manga before seeing this stage if you want to know the story and get an idea of what could very well pop up in it.

THE STAGE

This stage was so freaking good! I cannot flail enough about how much I enjoyed this stage! Everything was amazing! I loved how faithful to the story it was but they still left a lot of room for extras and higawaris and improvised comedy and such. I love which parts of the anime/manga story they decided to use for this stage. The pacing was great too! Also, there was never a dull moment in this because of how they paced the story and how ot developed and because of how much comedy there was. BUT that's not to say it was just purely comedy; it hard it's dark moments too! I was a little confused during the '5 minutes before show time' part when they said 'oh another extra rule; please laugh a lot! Also, at the end, please cry!' but seriusly, they didn't need to tell us that. I naturally cried. Both at the sad and dark part at the end - also because Tomorun's acting is so freaking enticing and amazing -, and because I enjoyed myself so much I cried through happiness at feeling so satisfied and so entertained for 2 hours, as well as sadness that it was finishing.

I left the theatre and I was literally like this inside:

It was just so amazing,hilarious, fun, heartwarming, such a good production!

I loved the set and who they moved that around and used it. I loved the costumes and how freaking faithful and perfect they looked and acted as the characters. The music and the musical numbers were so great! I enjoyed pretty much all of them and I defintitely want to rip them into MP4s when I get my hands on the DVD - which I preordered without evening thinking about it. I was straight in line to preorder that baby and didn't care how much it was going to cost me -- especially because Nelke are known for not really putting backstages on their DVDs (I kind of do hope we get a backstage for this one because the cast talked about how idiotic their rehearsals were and how fun they were; I want to see that!), but the stage itself, even if I get just that, is so freaking worth the money for this dvd. I loved how they used the projection mapping; I loved the physical props they did; I loved the ridiculousness of this stage. It's just all good right! I actually cannot think of one thing I was disappointed at in this stage << and that's rare as pigs flying for me isn't it!

Did I already mention the comedy was gold? BECAUSE IT WAS! I loved it all! Some scenes/moments I want to mention:

☆ There was a LOT of running around the theatre both on stage and in the seating area which was really nice for all the audience; everyone kind of got chance of being near the actors xD

☆ During the initial introductions scene; Naoya's character Hajime is supposed to be this serious and no messing around character, but during this part, Naoya/Hajime was tapping his fingers against one of the rails along to the beat while Seitarou lipsynced along with this huge smile on his face - immediately this set the mood for 'this is going to be ridiuclous and hilarious!' 

☆ I really loved the scene where Uno won and would sang during the Karuta Competition and the other three (Niko, 15 and Rock) were to the side on an upper level dancing as stupidly as they could! 

☆ AND!!! They did the famous BLEEP scene (it's in the anime too) during the Sports Day Event! I cannot believe it made it into the stage - I loved it! Tomorun was in charge of the bleeping with this massive bleep machine around his neck. It was hilarious! Even during Rock's solo song moment, Tomorun still had it wrapped around his neck so Tomorun 'played' the deck like it was a keyboard or something xD he was seriously rocking out to each.

☆ NONE of these boys gave anything less than 120% energy and performance in this stage. They were all beautiful covered in sweat and using so much freaking energy - it was so much fun to watch! I don't even know why Ire bothered to have his shirt somewhat zipped up because it was pretty much all undone anyway and the sweat coming off him was a spectacle. Tomorun sweated like a beast too and he was hardly wearing anything -- although those 'chains' around his feet and neck would've caused a lot of that sweat.

☆ I loved when Yozakura Kenshiro did his solo song, Hajime and Jyuugo were sat on the floor looking bored, and the moment the song finished, they both yelled 'kimoi!! / that's disgusting!' it was such perfect timing and of course everyone laughed.

☆ Poor Tsukumo! He was just bullied non-stop the entire stage! I was hilarious, pitiful and adorable at the same time! As soon as he appears, Rock, Uno and Niko are like 'you're a ninja!' and Jyuugo is like 'who's this poser? Why you here?' so Tsukumo immediately go shot down. Then (either the same scene or the next) the Cell 13 (Jyuugo, Niko, Rock, Un) guys  start chanting a mean name at him and I remember JP/Niko and Jyuugo turning to the audience to signal them to join in so Tsukumo had like 500 people calling him a mean name for ages xD it was so funny! One other moment that stuff with me was when he went to go off stage one time, and he suddenly yelled 'ouch/itai' as if he's stuck on one of his shurikens or a nail, but then he immediately went '.... nani mo nai/there's nothing there' -- can you HEAR the laughter coming from me?! No? Well, my descriptions are making the hilarious scenes less funny. But just you wait til the DVD comes and you can see it for yourself! Tsukumo just had the worst luck and was treated like crap throughout the entire play, but it was just so hilarious.

☆ Speaking of pitiful people, we have Mitsuru who just before he commentates the Sports Event, he's in the seating area and said: 'How many people bought bromides?! *most of the room* How many people bought MINE?! *3 people put their hands up* well now you've done it, I don't care anymore.' and moped up the stairs xD

☆ The show I saw, Naoya messed up his very first line and everyone died laughing, but he acted like he hadn't messed up and was so professional and just owned the mistake and acted like it wasn't one. Naoya is so good at everything he does. He's so good! Even when he had no lines he was still pulling the best faces ever and interacting with people ec.

☆ At scene towards the end of the stage: Mitsuru put his mic against Kimeru's chest to hear his inner thoughts, and then did it to himself and then tried it again on Kimeru but didn't work the second time around, so he poked the mic into Kimeru's butt and Kimeru tried to get off stage as quickly as possible. AND THEN Mitsuru put the mic right against Naoya's face so he couldn't talk!

I need a second stage like... already. I need, need, need a second stage, especially with this cast and staff! 

Seriously, who was the director and script writer *googles* Kawajiri Keita - huge freaking kudos for you! I'm pretty sure this guy was the one who did Hatsukoi Monster too... thanks for making such a great script and adaptation!

Now for some things about the actors or the characters I want to touch on...

ACTOR COMMENTS

Akazawa Tomoru as 15/Jyuugo:

I'm always ALWAYS super impressed with Tomorun but I never make a mental note of placing him being one of 'the top 2.5 actors'. But after this show, my brain has very much definitely implanted this memo into my brain. He always does amazing.

To be honest, I wasn't sure if he could do Jyuugo because Jyuugo is this weird happy but dark character with lots of internal turmoil and secrets but why was I worrying?! It was stupid of me to worry about Tomorun as Jyuugo because he was 

Which reminds me; is he popular? I always thought he was pretty damn popular but no one really wanted his random badges; I didn't see anyone buy his bromides; me getting a Row 1 seat is weird because I would've thought it would've been more difficult to get such a seat because I assumed he was super popular. Is he like UeChan in that Tomorun IS popular, just many people don't go out of their way FOR him and his shows? I love Tomorun, he should be popular, he should have more love... he should have al the love... more than what just Izawa gives him... which is a lot to begin with... anyway................

I really, really loved Tomorun's eye contacts! They were so vivid and amazing! You couldn't not look! It also helps that Tomorun has this wide round eyes that catch people's attention anyway. But when he's literally next to your foot and looking out in thought or shock, you can't not be attatched to his eyeline and eyes.

I also really loved Tomorun's little ballad where he talks about his cell mates about 20 minutes into the stage, as well as I loved his final song where he talks about them again and wants to be with them. Both of them are completely different tones but the songs are beautiful and Tomorun sang them so well(!) in fact, I don't think there was one bad singer - which surprised me. I expected Tomorun, or JP or even Naoya to be bad but.... nah. Everyone was either decent or really good!

Talking about Tomorun's sweat above remained me to mention something else about him. He is so freaking tiny! He's just bones and energy! He's so damn small! And due to the very few and thin clothing he wears in this, it was so much easier to see his collar bone and his tiny legs and stuff! I hope he eats -- he must do because he's never out of energy but it was so surprising to see this tiny boy give off such a huge and great performance. I've always liked Tomorun's acting <3

ANYWAY...

Kitazono Ryo as 1/Uno:

Surpringly either he, his character, or both, were the most popular for this stage; everyone was buying his goods, everyone wanted his trading badge, and you could just feel the air and tension rise when he had solo songs or if there was a moment you could cheer and 'woooh' for him. He got a bigger applause and wooing in those moment we were allowed to interact than Kimeru which really shocked me. He did great as Uno though; he was perfect. They were ALL perfectly casted xD

Yasukawa Junpei as 25/Niko:

JP was just adorable, as I predicted, in this!!! It was nice seeing him do something light and fluffy and fun and happy again! Yet it was a different type of happy to his Konchuuger character. This character is very much a child and very innocent and JP really pulled off the innocent and cuteness of Niko <3 I feel like the character really suited him and I hope they do a second stage and he's back for him.

I want him to do more cute roles! He’s an awkward but really nice guy in real life yet he always does these sexy and/or dark roles, and I super want to see him being more like this:

But JP too and is freaking skinny looking in this stage because, just like the others, there wasn't really much fabric on him! He isn't as tiny as Tomorun but he's close enough! His tiny little legs and cute little butt. But anyway...

KIMERU as Mitsuba Kiji:

Kimeru never ceases to amaze me. He's always so freaking fabulous and owns his characters! The two girls either side of me were clearly his fans because they clapped and cheered so hard for him. He got to do this ridiculous, flamboyant performance and made to audience clap along every time and properly woooooo and cheering for him.

In one scene, Naoya turned to him and said 'by the way... why you so small?' And he's like 'I am NOT small!'.

He was so good and was perfect for this character! I want to see him do this role again! He was so much fun and he looked damn good in those heeled boots! I think I vagueley remember some thrusting dance moves from those hips of his at one point too... *coughs*

Utsumi Daisuke as Yozakura Kenshiro: 

I feel Utsumi did a great job at bringing this character to life. I didn't really know him in the anime, but in the stage Utsumi really fleshed him out and was much more memorable in the stage compared to the anime. His singing was so good too! Maybe he was the strongest singer...

Hashimoto Taito as Goku Samon: 

Taito got to use some of his breakdancing/acrobat moves in this stage which was great! But unfortunately, while I love him in the anime, his character stage time and development was very small in this one. He was a very minute character and role. Which is a shame because Goku is a character I like and I wanted to see him get more stage time. Hopefully in the second one *fingers crossed*

Hoshino Yuta as Rian: 

Hoshino made me giggle during the fight scene; he's clearly not flexible because he couldn't kick that high and he was barely able to go a cartwheel. This is a type of character we've seen Hoshino do before so of course he nailed his role and did well; Rian is the type of character he's used to and is a pro at.

Momiyama Kenta as Sugoroku Hitoshi: I really loved how in the stage, even though they find out she's a he, people like Niko and Rock still treated Hitoshi as a girl and were still like googly-eyed over him xD

Gomoto Naoya as Sugoroku Hajime: 

This character was perfect for him! He got to yell and insult people for two hours which is something we all know he's a master at! I love, love, love Hajime and Naoya was just PERFECT. He gave me the Hajime I wanted AND more because he's a pro at acting and knows how to take characters, give the performance the audience wants and adds to it so we get even more enjoyment from his character! He was the perfect Hajime <3

AND Naoya can actually sing! I was so shocked! They ALL can legit, properly sing!! They sounded soooooo good!

AFTERSHOW - MIOKURI (Actor Send Off)

I was super excited about the Miokuri even BEFORE the show started! I knew Naoya was going to be there as I had checked the night before. But when I rechecked the information they had pinned up, it had Kimeru for this day too! And after seeing his ridiculously, entertaining, amazing performance in this, I was nervous to see him too! 

The line went: Kitazono Ryo (I do NOT remember him being in that line), Kimeru, Takagi Shun, and lastly Naoya.

KIMERU was super duper genki and just had so much energy with everyone. He was like ‘ara! Arigatou! Kawaii!!’. And then we had Naoya who was at the end of line with his hands together in front of (or behind him, I don't quite remember) him and he bowed to everyone just like the gentlemen he is, and he was so professional and calm and just so.... ‘manly’ is a good word to describe him.

GOODS

The pamphlet's pictures are so good! I have to show you some!! My thought process is basically 'So cute!!! So cool! DAMN THIS PIC IS NICE!!':

I looked at the pamphlet before show and it was adding to the already crazy excitement that I had. After the show ended I just HAD to get my hands on Tomorun’s bromides also because he was so amazing seriously -- did I already say that?

Nanbaka Week Day 6 - headcanons/theories

Here i’ll share a little bit of something regarding headcannons towards my favourite character: Samon~ -He used to be closer to Hajime before the Enki-Incident happened, maybe even really good friends

-His behaviour of giving his inmates second chances come from the desire to have a second chance at redemption himself, regarding that night.

-Samon feels safe and not judged amongst his inmates, who see him as a mentor, which is why he is far less angry when seen in his own building or amongst the guys from cell 8

-He has broken down in front of liang before and talked to him about how all these situations affected him, resulting in Liang being fairly protective.

-He gets along pretty well with mitsuru when he’s not stressed and has gone out with him to do karaoke before, which is why he doesn’t get upset over tsuru calling him “sassy little monkey” later on in the anime.

Nana and Feebas

Feebas: The Fish Pokémon. It has a shabby and ragged appearance but is very hardy and can survive in very little water due to its tenacity. Its ability is “Oblivious” and hidden ability is “Competitive”.

Yes, yes Nana does have the upper body strength to carry around 16.4 lbs of Feebas easily.

I really liked Futamata Shou’s pictures of Nanbaka characters with Pokémon, so I decided to draw Nana with the one I thought fit him the most.

I couldn’t decide if I wanted to keep it as a sketch, since I feel like that has more visual clarity, or color it as Feebas’ color palette is part of why I chose it for Nana. So I posted both!

Now though I have a bunch of questions about how prisons work in the Pokémon universe. Do inmates get to keep their Pokémon or are they assigned new ones to rehabilitate them? Are the guards required to have a certain Pokémon type to intimidate their inmates, or do their Pokémon just have to be high level, so an inmate could get their ass kicked by a Lv 100 FrouFrou? If an inmate beats a guard in a Pokémon battle do they get to go free??

Basically how would a Pokémon AU in Nanbaka work is what I’m asking.
