I know there's a lot of people out there that think Dark and Light should have a romantic relationship, but, hear me out...
Twin siblings. Make 'em twin brothers. Yin and yang, what have you, but they're basically total opposites in some very key ways. One example, Dark is easily flustered and takes things to heart a lot. Light is more unflappable and clearly settled into his own skin. Makes arguments the most frustrating things ever for Dark given that he'll be all ready to bleed off the resentment he has from being thought of as 'the bad one' and Light just, doesn't match his energy. Doesn't get mad. Absolutely sees the projection for what it is, and Dark is just no no no no I wanna be pissed off at something LET ME BE PISSED OFF!
And meanwhile Light's like sure, man, you can be pissed, but not at me because my existence isn't what's wrong here. We both know you're not mad because of ME specifically.
And Dark gets huffy because he's not gonna be able to correct all instances of nyctophobia on planet Earth. Though Light lets him rant a bit anyway because, hey, better than the guy stewing in private.
But yeah, sibling snarkiness and in-jokes. Silliness. 'Oh remember that time when you-' quickly followed by 'WE SAID WE WERE NEVER SPEAKING OF THIS AGAIN AND HERE YOU ARE SPEAKING OF IT'. Occasional moments of Twins being Twins.
Also moments like:
Some Random Entity: So, who's older?
Dark: We're twins, it doesn't matter.
Light: Me.
Dark: BY ONE SECOND---Also, yeah, doesn't matter. Still twins.
Light: [picture of nonchalant innocence here]

Chapter 1: Freshwater and Giant Spider
He hate this island - no, hate is too soft of a word. He loath this island.
Every nook and cranny seems to harbor a new threat. How many times has he told Blaster not to touch anything? How many times has he heard the boy complain after injuring himself handling the treacherous vegetation? Honestly, Nemo has stopped counting.
His bare feet are clogged with mud, and  itchy leaves cling to them, loosening their grip only for a few moments of peace. As for the nettles, they seem to have taken a particular liking to him, their incessant stings burning his ankles for hours. They're not about to leave this cursed spot, let alone find drinking water. A lake, a pond, something! How can an island be so arid?
Humility walks beside them, watching over the child with almost maternal vigilance, which deeply annoys both men. She goes on and on about her passion for discovering new species and her desire to be, once again, superior to the others. But neither Nemo nor Blaster find the energy to ask her to keep quiet. It's not them, but fate that finally silences her, as she suddenly rolls down a hill that's a little too steep. But what comes next is not the expected sound of falling on hard ground, no, it's the sound of splashing water, mingling with the song of cicadas and the murmur of wind-blown branches.
Water. And too far from the sea to be salty - it has to be fresh water.
The next moment, Blaster, having glanced back to where Humility had fallen, almost exclaims with joy. Without hesitation, he launches himself after her, skillfully avoiding both ground and plants to plunge straight into the lake. The depth of the water is revealed when it takes him several seconds to surface. “Nemo! Fresh water! We can take it back to the Nautilus!” The interested party nods. Of course, he's delighted by this discovery, but he has to remain realistic: they'll still have to find the time and strength to carry enough water to last a month, maybe two, at most.
The lake is isolated, far from the beach, but Nemo knows that with careful organization, he can mobilize his crew to form an effective human chain. By optimizing everyone's efforts, he's almost convinced they can get enough fresh water to the submarine and ration the Nautilus in less than a day.
He continues walking, plotting the most direct route to the lake on foot. Once there, he's sure that with twelve men, the human chain to transport the water will be both competent and fast, provided everyone pitches in. By placing the company's traitor between Kai and Jiacomo, he hopes their presence will be enough to dissuade him from any sabotage attempts. With any luck, this strategy will secure the water supply without incident and-
“What are you pondering about?” Humility interrupts him in his musings, and Nemo shakes his head to refocus.
“To efficiently organize the rationing of the Nautilus. With twelve men, we should be able to supply ourselves with water in a day.”
“Provided we don't start now, right?”
Nemo is well aware of reality, and he doesn't need to be reminded. The sun is already beginning to set, and by the time they return to the beach, it may be dark. He sits down against a fallen tree to clean his feet, trying not to scratch the hives covering his ankles from the nettles.

Day 6 was Symbol! I wasn't... really sure what to do for this........ I realized later there was an easy thing I coulda drawn, but I'd already drawn this.
Paintings are a recurring motif in my original work, so I thought I'd bang some out with some imagery relating to my four harbingers as well.

To say the new teacher wasn’t quite what Hugo expected would be an understatement.
He looked like he’d crawled out of bed five minutes ago and would give anything to crawl back.  He was a lot younger than he’d expected, a buff guy, hair combed, in a suit and tie, and carrying a clipboard under his arm.
He promptly ignored the ten teenagers staring at him while he walked over to his desk. When he got there, he shrugged off his jacket, took off his tie, and unbuttoned his dress shirt revealing a t-shirt underneath that said ‘the book was better.’
Hugo turned to Xander, who was silently — yet uncontrollably — laughing into his hands.
The girl in front of Hugo raised her hand. “Uh, Mr. uh-” she tried.
Their teacher raised a single finger as he opened a drawer and took out a mug and a thermos. He poured the contents of the thermos, probably coffee, into his mug and chugged it back in one long gulp. He set his mug down on his desk with a resounding thud.
The bell rang.
“Alright, you little gremlins! Here’s what’s up! My name is Mr. Nemo, and you have a choice. I can be a mentor and help you have a wonderful life, I can be a tormentor and make your life miserable, or I can be a dementor and suck the life out of you. Your choice. Any questions?”
I choose this part. Can you say what you were thinking about it and stuff?
Thanks for the ask! It was a while ago, so some of this is going to be my thoughts on the writing now.
The 'mentor, tormentor, dementor,' bit was actually something my 10th grade english teacher would say to her students. I don't actually think she said it to me, but my best friend told me about it. That teacher was a really influencal mentor to me during highschool. She was sassy and salty as heck and I still consider her to be one of the wisest women I've had the blessing to know.
I think the main thing I was to show the student's first impression of Jacob Nemo. I'm not sure when or why I chose a student pov but I think it was the right choice. Through their eyes it gives the reader a fresh perspective on Jason's teacher persona. In a way, I'm reintroducing Jason. Jacob Nemo, while an alias, is very much a part of Jason. It's tapping into his 15 year old passionate self who wanted to become an english professor, while keeping his personallity.
While I was typing this answer I tried to think of a major difference in character between Jason and Jacob, and there really isn't one. If you look back at the snippet (I think it's at the end of the last chapter of the prologue) you see Jacob's interview and it lists the details Jason added to Jacob's fake backstory. Jason purposfully made someone very similar to him because he didn't want to be someone else or act in front of these kids. He even included that he was in the military and has ptsd to offer an excuse in case he ever breaks down while as Jacob.
This is Jason's dream job, what he would have been if he hadn't died, but even more than that, this goes back to his resove at the end of chapter 9 where he is trying to make the most of being in this timeline. Jason realizes he would not be who he is without the people who have poured into his life. People like his family and, I think, his english teacher as a kid. He knows what a trusted adult routing for you can do for a kid and wants to pay it forward.
I'm pretty sure I wanted to show Jason being tired, becuase he does patrol pretty much all night and then have to show up at school. Pretty sure I purposfully made Jason only have one class always at the end of the day. It's Gotham's private school so I immagine they would/could have their own special exclusive rules about their AP classes. So Jason would be able to sleep through the morning and show up at class in the afternoon. He looks like he rolled out of bed because he probably just did.
I made a lot of the english students and Mischief members way before introducing them. I sat down and just whipped up a bunch of oc kids and then later decided who would be in what group. Hugo was one of my favorites from the english kids so I decided to do his pov.
My beta made a comment about how Jason would totally be buffer than the PE teacher and that made me laugh.
Thanks for the ask and letting me ramble a bit. I realize this is pretty long, but I really enjoyed it! Honestly this helped me make connections about my writing. This reminded me of things I planned I totally forgot about, and made me realize I did things that looked planned but were totally not.
