I made a script for special #23. It's not a scanlation, just a script you can match up if you have the Japanese raws but you're struggling with the translation.

I fudged the translation a bit so it would flow more naturally, but I promise it's nothing important. Just things like using natural English or removing the 3 million "apparently"s that Japanese requires because otherwise they think you sound psychic.

A couple of translation notes: I kept "Japanese confectionary" as "wagashi shop" because I thought it sounded too unnatural translated (and wagashi is sometimes used in English). Wagashi are traditional Japanese sweets including anything from those fancy flower things (nerikiri) to simpler dango. Wagashi are often served with green tea, which I think fits Tanuma's kind of traditional vibe. Manjuu is also wagashi.

I translated shinyuu (親友) as "close friend" because it flowed best and is pretty close to the literal translation. But if you ask a Japanese person to tell you what they would call their best friend, it's shinyuu. Shinyuu literally means "intimate friend" and refers to a friend you are particularly close to, who understands you deeply, and who you can count on in hard times (and vice versa). Japanese does not have a word that literally means "best friend," so you can technically have more than one shinyuu. But Japanese people don't tend to throw these words around lightly, so for a lot of people shinyuu refers to one's singular closest friend. It varies. You can specifically say "close friend above all others" or muni no shinyuu but you'd generally have some kind of reason for that.

There is also a term "daishinyuu" which is more clearly "very (most) close friend," but I don't think it fits the tone or characterization as it's more modern and informal. Also, part of the reason I was specifically waiting for shinyuu is because Natsume is so stubborn about using yuujin for literally everyone that almost anything would be a milestone, but shinyuu is the classic.

Tanuma: ….

[Tanuma's dad is a Buddhist priest. Ever since he was little, Tanuma has drawn a lot of concern, one way or another falling ill often, so his dad is always worrying and looking after him.]

Sensei: Alright, to the wagashi shop, then!

Tanuma: Can we take a little detour first?

Sensei: WHAT!?

Natsume: Of course, I don't mind. [What for? ]

Tanuma: Just some mail.

Natsume: Mail?

Tanuma: I want to send this—

Tanuma?: Ah

Tanuma: When she was hospitalized, she started to get better little by little but when dad happily went to visit her—

Tanuma: The doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong, so they though maybe my father's visits were causing her some kind of stress.

Tanuma: So there was trouble with my mother's side of the family for a while, but…

Tanuma: Mom hated it and begged and made a huge fuss.

Tanuma: Mom is still in convalescence but she's a lot better now so sometimes I go visit her.

Natsume: —…

Tanuma: Sometimes writes letters like this.

Sensei: Hmph. Don't you write?

Natsume: …Photo…? What did you write carelessly?

Tanuma: —…

Tanuma: …—I made a close friend here.

A final note: Japanese frequently drops pronouns so you have to use context to determine who is doing what. The "because she is dear" bit has zero pronouns. That is, a more literal translation is something like "because dear, unable to meet, because unable to meet, pour heart into." You see the issue. At first I thought, given it follows "just [like] a love letter," that it was a more general description of love letters, but "unable to meet because one is dear" seemed too specific so I chose to translate as being about Tanuma's parents in particular.

(1) citron's mistake is the same he makes in the main story, where he uses コケコッコー (kokekokko, cock-a-doodle-doo) instead of the 割拠 (kakkyo) in 群雄割拠 (gunyuu-kakkyo, rivalry of local warlords)

(2) the evil eye-type kumon mentions is one of the three chuunibyou types as categorized in saegami hyouya's chuunibyou user manual; they're the portrayal of chuunibyou most people think of when they see the word, where the person thinks they have magic powers and a cursed eye or arm that they often cover and twitches in supposed pain (eg owain from fire emblem awakening claiming his sword arm is twitching); they also often come up with aliases for themselves (eg okabe from steins gate calling himself hououin kyoma)

Keith Howell Sequel 07 - Fan Translation

If you trust me to know what I'm doing, then we have both made a huge mistake. I cannot guarantee accuracy for this fan translation, or even grammatical correctness.

In the grand hall we were guided to, a black-painted table and chairs were neatly arranged, and a man was seated at one of them.

(This person is Kagari's brother, the first prince of Kougyoku, Shiou...)

With emerald green eyes and dark crimson hair almost black, reaching down to his waist, his hair was tied back in a single ponytail.

As I took my seat upon encouragement, Shiou, sitting across the table, wore an elegant smile.

Shiou: “I sincerely thank you for accepting the invitation.”

Shiou: “It’s been a while, hasn’t it, Keith?”

Alter!Keith: “It has been a while, Shiou. I’m glad to see you well.”

His golden eyes turned toward me, and he gently lowered his head.

Emma: “I’m Emma, Keith's fiancée. It’s an honor to meet you.”

Shiou: “Nice to meet you, Emma. I’m happy to meet you too.”

Shiou: “Now, here’s a question.”

Emma & Alter!Keith: “? Yes?” “................”

Shiou: “What do you think is the most popular confection for tourists in Kougyoku?”

Caught off guard by the sudden quiz, I pondered.

(I might end up answering dorayaki...)

Emma: “...Is it nerikiri?”

Shiou: “Correct. It’s an artistic creation that represents the seasonal motifs and nature, the pinnacle of form.”

Shiou: “And with its gentle sweetness and smooth melting texture, it pairs excellently with matcha or sencha.”

Shiou: “It’s not only enjoyable to eat; it’s also pleasing to the eyes. That’s the charm of nerikiri, in my opinion.”

Emma: “I believe you’re right.”

(Kagari loves dorayaki, but I wonder if Shiou prefers nerikiri...)

Though I was overwhelmed by his eloquent manner of speaking, it helped to dispel the tension I felt from meeting him for the first time.

Shiou: “—So, I had my favorite nerikiri prepared for you.”

Without a sound, a servant appeared, setting down a plate decorated with vibrant green matcha, along with nerikiri, monaka, and easy-to-eat dango.

(So beautiful... Truly a work of art.)

Shiou: “Matcha becomes unpleasant once it cools down.”

Shiou: “You probably have questions, but let’s first have our tea party.”

Alter!Keith: “That sounds good; we can talk later.”

Alter!Keith: “Since most of the sweets in Kougyoku are dorayaki, I’m looking forward to tasting your favorite, Shiou.”

Shiou: “...Ah, is Kagari still fond of dorayaki?”

Shiou: “Did he also take over the desserts at the goodwill meeting?”

Alter!Keith: “Yes, he made a tower of them.”

Shiou: “Haha, he’s a child who really gets into what he likes.”

Seeing Shiou with his emerald eyes downcast, I felt more sadness than nostalgia.

I hurriedly shook off the thoughts that started to spiral from his casual gestures.

After that, Alter!Keith and I indulged in matcha and sweets that could only be enjoyed in Kougyoku—

Shiou: “I heard from a merchant that he saw you disembarking from the ship at the Kuga faction's port.”

Shiou: “Since I knew about the goodwill meeting, I personally thought about whether you would participate or not, but...”

Shiou: “The head of the Amagase family... King Iguna has a rather difficult and complicated personality.”

Shiou: “If he learned that Jade's royal family would attend the goodwill meeting of another faction, he would likely have doubts.”

(Something like ‘Jade wouldn’t engage in acts that betray the Amagase, right...?’ )

Since we participated in the goodwill meeting of a faction, I felt no discomfort with that intention.

At that moment, our gazes met.

With a friendly smile that hadn’t changed since entering the hall and eyes that revealed nothing.

As I was gazing back, almost about to look away, I heard a small cough from beside me.

Alter!Keith: “Perhaps it would have been better for me to attend the tea party alone.”

Shiou: “I may have been looking too closely. I tend to stare at beautiful things.”

Alter!Keith: “You know quite well.”

Shiou: “I would like to avoid that for Kougyoku.”

Shiou: “...However, King Iguna seems to be concerned about the deepening of friendships with other factions.”

From his heavy sigh, his true feelings seemed to seep out.

As my hand on my lap was held tightly, the anxiety that had been affixed to my back began to dissolve.

Shiou looked as if he wanted to say that it was as expected and shrugged his shoulders.

Shiou: “Your sincere nature hasn’t changed since time immemorial. I knew you would hold back.”

Shiou: “Well then, I need to think of an excuse for not being able to retain Keith.”

Shiou: “An excuse that will also satisfy the troublesome King Iguna... Will you accompany me?”

Alter!Keith: “Sure, if it’s fine with me.”

After that, the tea party with Shiou flowed smoothly with a peaceful atmosphere—

We headed toward the port to return to the Kuga royal territory.

Alter!Keith: “............”

Emma: “............”

Shiou: “What’s wrong? Are you nervous because I’m riding with you?”

Seeing Shiou smile while hiding his mouth with the fan made me smile as well.

I glanced out the window.

(Is that...?)

As I recognized what came into my view, I unknowingly grasped Alter!Keith's arm.

Alter!Keith: “What’s wrong?”

Emma: “There’s someone sitting at the entrance to the forest who can’t move.”

Emma: “From a distance, they seem to be injured.”

Alter!Keith and Shiou looked outside, following the direction I was pointing.

Alter!Keith: “Shiou, is it okay?”

Shiou: “Of course. Thank you for noticing, Emma.”

Shiou: “A few days ago, there was a territorial dispute in a small town. He might have escaped from there.”

The driver stopped the carriage at the entrance of the forest following Shiou’s instructions.

(There seem to be multiple injuries, but the medicine I have should be sufficient.)

As I hurriedly reached for the carriage door, for some reason, my wrist was suddenly grasped from the side.

Alter!Keith: “.....”

Emma: “Keith?”

Alter!Keith: “...It’s nothing.”

Alter!Keith: “You can down after me.”

Emma: “...Yes.”

Alter!Keith slightly frowned.

From his profile, it felt as if he didn’t think too highly of going outside.

(But right now, I’m the only one here with the necessary items for treatment.)

Shaking off the hesitation that hung in my chest, I followed Alter!Keith and descended from the carriage.

Following Shiou, I stepped out of the carriage.

The man sitting on the ground had skin peeking through his torn clothes, and on his face, and there were several marks that resembled bruises rather than cuts.

(What is this sense of discomfort? It seems, as Shiou said, that he escaped from a battle...)

Emma: “Please let me treat your injuries. Is it okay if I touch you?”

Man: “Ugh... Yeah.”

Emma: “Excuse me. Please tell me if it hurts.”

With Alter!Keith standing nearby to protect me, I reached out to touch the man’s arm to treat his injuries.

(Huh... the blood is this thin?)

(And this wound...……)

A terrible premonition crawled across my skin at that moment—

Alter!Keith: “Emma, get back!”

Suddenly, Alter!Keith grabbed my arm, pulling me away and making me stand up.

Emma: “Alter!Keith, that wound...”

Alter!Keith: “It’s fake. At least it seems there’s still a human heart in there since it’s not real blood.”

Right after he spat those words, people cloaked in black appeared.

Apothecary Muffet & Lust Design

Some more characters for the Apothecary AU. Here's not only Muffet's design but also Lust's design. Muffet is from undertale. While Lust Sans was made by NSFWShamecave. Though Skele-cakes was given permission to continue the AU. If I've put the wrong people for who created Lust sans let me know so I can fix that. Also I've got two other lust variants that I'm working on that I've nicknamed Sin (Lustfell swap Sans) and Hearts (Lustfell Sans).

Yes I'm putting the these two character together mostly cause I was working on them at the same time. Plus they work in the same place.

Here is Apothecary Muffet's design. I took some Giant Golden orb weaver spider insperation. Not with the colors but with some things like the strips. I also did take away one set of arms and gave her spider legs on her back instead.

Muffet is the owner of the Demon's temptations Brothel. She is 50 years of age. Her little mochi spiders hide among the snacks that are served to make sure that those visiting the brothel aren't going against the rules or hurting anyone that works & lives in the brothel. Her giant pet muffin spider. I turned into a nerikiri spider.

She has those that are unable to pay work for her. And if they try to get out of paying. Kiri (the Nerikiri spider pet) gets a little treat. She and many of the workers in the brother raise Nightmare as if he was their own child. Getting the title Step Mother Muffet, or SMM for short. She does not allow any of the customers to try anything to Nightmare as he was growing up.

I tried giving Muffet some interesting features to her design. Like how her feet look, and the little.. mandibles? I think that's what their called on the sides of her face.

Here is Apothecary Lust's design!

Lust works under Muffet as a Brothel monster. He is 38 years of age and has been working at the Brothel for 22 years. When he was 16 years of age he was not only very sick but he and some others were taken from their home and were being sold off to others as servants. Muffet had managed to find the carriage that was carrying him and all the others and used Kiri to free them from their captive. Many that were freed left to try and return home, some staid behind and got jobs, while 4 staid with Muffet as she took Lust to heal.

Once Lust was well enough he promised to work for Muffet to not only pay off for all the medicine and care that was used on him, but to also start saving up to live a comfortable life.

He works with Sin, Hearts, Blitz, and Flame (I'm working on their designs at the moment). The 4 that staid behind and went with Muffet. He and Flame (underlust Grillby) are both in a relationship but they also work at the brothel together. Hearts and Blitz are together as well. The group started off by not doing much aside from serving tea and snacks to the guests. As they got older Muffet and the other Brothel residents helped teach them everything else they needed to know for the job. Though Hearts isn't a big fan of that part of the job and mostly serves snacks, tea, and plays games with others.

Lust sees Nightmare as a child of his own. Same with every other Brothel member. Helping him learn how to read and write.

Hopefully I'll have a draft to the first page of the mini comic stories I'm working on. So enjoy the story drafts for those mini comics, and these character designs!
