She squeezes his hand as if her life depended on it. He continues to whisper words of encouragement to her, stroking her hair, damp from all the sweat.
''You're doing so great !'' His hand is white from how she squeezed it, her voice broken from her cries of pain.
''One final push!'' Tell the nurse, encouraging her to continue. Y/n begins to despair. She no longer has any strength and her whole body hurts. She shakes her head.
''I can't! I can't.'' She cries, as she tries to keep pushing her daughter out of her.
''No! Don't say that y/n! She's almost there! Keep pushing my love! You're so strong!'' She squeezes Oscar's hand one last time with all her strength and pushes like she never thought she would have to do.
Then after that, everything becomes blurry. She vaguely hears her daughter's first cries, Oscar speaking to her once again.
Her whole body hurts and she has trouble thinking clearly, tears ravaging her face. She hears her daughter's cries getting closer, she sees the nurse place her on her breasts, the little hands of the newborn clinging to her skin.
Instinctively, she rocked her gently in her arms, feeling Oscar place a kiss on her forehead. She hears Oscar crying next to her while he touches his daughter, who has stopped crying and looks at them with wide eyes. The same hazelnut eyes like her father. Those hazel eyes that made y/n fall in love with Oscar.
He kisses her cheek again, the same nurse who helped her give birth to her daughter asking her name.
''Oliva.'' Is the only thing she managed to say, too full of emotions. She is so happy that she forgets about the pain throughout her body.
After a few minutes of admiring Olivia and releasing all the stress they had accumulated, Oscar is forced to take Olivia in his arms to give her her first bath.
Meanwhile, the nurse comes back to prescribe a little more painkillers and check that everything is in order.
🏎️_ _ _ _ _
After less than a week in the maternity ward, Olivia is finally able to return home with her parents. Oscar drives his two princesses home, watching over Olivia through the rearview mirror every minute. Y/n is next to him, half asleep. Even though the nurses were there to help and support her after Olivia's birth, she was still terribly exhausted.
Once home, Olivia is hypnotized by all the new stuff she discovers. She quickly cried, the thing she has done the past few days. Her mother takes her in her arms, rocking her tenderly. Both new parents go to Olivia's news bedroom.
''Do you think she's hungry?'' Oscar asked her, not knowing what to do. ''You want me to prepare her a bottle of milk?'' He does his best to be there for his princess.
Y/n sit on the rock chair that Nicole gave her. ''I'll try to breastfeed her.'' Oscar looked at her, a bit stunned. She had already told him that she was afraid of doing that. And when they were in the maternity ward, she only did it two or maybe three times. But he let her do it. She does what she wants.
''You want me to leave? For more privacy?'' Maybe she's ashamed to do it? Oscar is afraid of making her uncomfortable. ''No it's ok. You can stay. It's not like you've never seen my breasts.''She chuckles, but baby Olivia doesn't have the same opinion and starts crying again, demanding something to eat.
Oscar sits on one of the many chairs available in the room and watches y/n do it. Her large t-shirt allows her to easily take her breast out through the collar and Olivia doesn't wait any longer to nibble her mother's nipple. At first, Y/n makes a bit of a strange face. It's normal actually, she's in a little pain because she's not used to it. And the feeling is horribly weird.
Oscar admires them, stars in his eyes. How beautiful are his two princesses.
Olivia finishes drinking and quickly finds herself asleep in her mother's arms. Oscar gets up and picks Olivia up, placing her in her crib. Y/n gives him a hug, placing her head on his shoulder. They both watch their little baby sleep peacefully for the first time in her crib.
After a few minutes, Y/n goes away. Oscar follows her, his hand rests on her lower back. He slowly closed the door behind him, already watching his daughter sleep through the baby monitor.
''I'm going to take a shower.'' She kisses the corner of his lips, already heading towards their room. ''Can I join you?'' She looks at him, hesitant. ''Uhm.. what if Olivia cry?'' Oscar doesn't insist, finding her explanation logical.
He goes back downstairs while she is already starting to undress in the bathroom. She doesn't take the time to look in the mirror, not wanting to see horror right away.
In the shower, she soaps herself without looking where she puts her hands, too afraid. She prefers to keep her eyes closed.
She wraps the towel around her chest and gets out of the tub. Once in front of the mirror, she can no longer avoid herself. She has to face it. She takes a deep breath and unties the knot holding the towel, placing it on the sink.
She wants to cry.
How did she go from a woman worthy of a Victoria Secret fashion show to such a...fat woman? Well.. fat is a big word. That's how she sees herself. But actually, it's just the beauty of a pregnant woman. Her breasts are no longer firm, they are sagging. She kept some of the belly that she had accumulated when Olivia was still inside her. She has stretch marks all over her hips, on her stomach and her thighs.
She can't hold it back and cry softly, disgust with herself.
She's so busy crying that she can't hide her tears when Oscar comes into the room. He always had the habit of entering the bathroom without warning her. She does it too. It's not like they've never seen each other naked. But this time, she wished they had gotten into the habit of knocking before entering the bathroom.
He comes in without saying anything, gets closer to her. She doesn't move away, looking at him through the mirror. He places his hands on her hips, caressing them tenderly. His head rests on hers and he watches her body through the mirror.
''It's hard, isn't it?'' She cries even more, hiding her face with her hand. He takes her in his arms and she crying against his shoulder.
''I hate myself. I was so beautiful before, so stunning.. and here I am now. Fat with scars everywhere on my body.''
''Listen to me, Y/n. This is a very difficult period for you, your body is still adapting to your pregnancy.'' He kisses your head. ''You're still the sexiest and hottest woman for me.'' He makes her chuckle against his shoulder.
''Now get dressed while I take a shower and wait for me in bed, ok?''
She nodded, putting on her pyjama and heading outside the room.
She wrapped herself in the bed, her eyes already heavy. She barely remembers Oscar joining her and warping his arms around her before she falls asleep.

Launch of Space Shuttle Discovery during STS-128. August 29, 2009.
STS-128, also know as ISS assembly flight 17A, carried the Italian-built Multi-Purpose Logistics Module Leonardo as its primary payload. This was the sixth flight of the logistics module to the International Space Station, and the penultimate flight of the module before it became permanently berthed to the station. Leonardo's payload during STS-128 consisted of extra supplies and equipment to support a six-person crew aboard the ISS, the TVIS2 treadmill, and an Air Revitalization System.

Three extra-vehicular activities took place during STS-128. The first, performed on September 1, was to prepare an empty ammonia tank for retrieval, and the collection of two materials experiments attached to the outside of the Columbus laboratory. The second on September 3 retrieved and replaced the ammonia tank. The third and final EVA was performed on September 3 and prepared the Unity node for the arrival of the Tranquility node, which would be delivered by STS-130 in 2010.

Just finished rewatching The White Lotus, Season 1...
God, what a show. Here are some of my outstanding thoughts and questions!!
Do you think Oliva had a romantic crush on Paula, or was she just an overcontrolling friend?
Why why WHY does Rachel go back with Shane at the end??? I think the idea is she's not strong enough to leave. Yet still I feel so bad for her!!! I totally foresee her and Shane having kids, hoping to make her happy and have some meaning in her life but instead, she's still unhappy and the cycle continues!!!
Did Greg intentionally seek out Tonya? It's not totally clear, but considering his scheming in season 2, is it possible he actually had some intel on Tonya, purposefully staged the "meet-cute" outside her room, and pursued her knowing who she was? Either way, fuck you Greg.
Paula encourages Kai to steal from the rich white people and this blows up in their faces. Is this a cautionary tale saying that trying to do a just action in the wrong way is wrong, or is it a commentary that justice will always work out for only the privileged class?
The cycle repeating it's self at the end GAWD. And endless cycle of exploitation, death and destruction. It can only end when someone removes themselves like Quinn at the end!!
Speaking of, I SO want to see Mark and Nicole's reaction when they realize Quinn didn't get on the plane hahaha.
Armond shitting in the suitcase hahahaah I forgot about that. God damnit Armond, you'll always be famous.

WOS

This rpg sounds really fun but I wouldn’t know where to start with a biography. Was there any connections wanted for more Comics Emporium Attendant employees? Is there any advice on where to start on writing a backstory? Did you have any in demand connections that the members desperately want filled?
Hi there! Thank you so much! We have amazing writers here with amazing characters, we're truly nothing without our muns!
Absolutely! There's one more spot left in the comics emporium for employees, but the muns who pay Paxton and Ziggy have said they would love to plot with you since they work in the comics emporium as well!
As far as wanted connections go, we have so many! Some connections are also listed in character's bios as well, so there's really something for everyone! I know some that have our muns dying to be filled are the following:
Arkin O'Connell (Jamie Campbell Bower)'s twin sister
Noelle Driscoll (Emily Blunt)'s ex-husband
Nicole Keaton (Oliva Holt)'s Older siblings
Nelson Quinn (Dan Steven)'s younger brother
Rhett Harris (Lewis Pullman) and Carter Harris (Tom Holland)'s sister
Sterling Levin (Madelyn Cline)'s baby daddy
Erica Manning (Katheryn Winnick)'s wife (on the rocks)
Gavin Carrigan (Sam Claflin)'s best friend/love interest
Lalita Dandekar (Ritu Arya)'s fake husband
Any relative/half relative for Imani Lihn
Any relative/half relative for Stevie Sharp
If you need any help reaching out to muns, please message the main!
And if any muns have more connections they would like to list, please reply to this post!

30/4 Solardo fanno ballare Circus beatclub - Brescia, Happy 25th birthday Circus!
Tumblr media

Lo slogan mette energia: : "future is now", il futuro è adesso.

Students pitch transformative ideas in generative AI at MIT Ignite competition

Students pitch transformative ideas in generative AI at MIT Ignite competition
This semester, students and postdocs across MIT were invited to submit ideas for the first-ever MIT Ignite: Generative AI Entrepreneurship Competition. Over 100 teams submitted proposals for startups that utilize generative artificial intelligence technologies to develop solutions across a diverse range of disciplines including human health, climate change, education, and workforce dynamics.
On Oct. 30, 12 finalists pitched their ideas in front of a panel of expert judges and a packed room in Samberg Conference Center.
“MIT has a responsibility to help shape a future of AI innovation that is broadly beneficial — and to do that, we need a lot of great ideas. So, we turned to a pretty reliable source of great ideas: MIT’s highly entrepreneurial students and postdocs,” said MIT President Sally Kornbluth in her opening remarks at the event.
The MIT Ignite event is part of a broader focus on generative AI at MIT put forth by Kornbluth. This fall, across the Institute, researchers and students are exploring opportunities to contribute their knowledge on generative AI, identifying new applications, minimizing risks, and employing it for the benefit of society. This event — co-organized by the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab and the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, and supported by MIT’s School of Engineering and the MIT Sloan School of Management — inspired young researchers to contribute to the dialogue and innovate in generative AI.

MIT students pitch transformative ideas in generative AI Video: MIT School of Engineering
Serving as co-chairs for the event were Aude Oliva, MIT director of the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab and a principal investigator in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL); Bill Aulet, the Ethernet Inventors Professor of the Practice at the MIT Sloan School of Management and director of the Martin Trust Center; and Dina Katabi, the Thuan (1990) and Nicole Pham Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, director of the Center for Wireless Networks and Mobile Computing, and a CSAIL principal investigator.
Twelve teams of students and postdocs were competing for a number of prizes, including five MIT Ignite Flagship Prizes of $15,000 each, a special first-year undergraduate student team Flagship Prize, and runner-up prizes. All prizes were provided by the MIT-IBM AI Watson Lab. Teams were judged on their project’s innovative applications of generative AI, feasibility, potential for real-world impact, and the quality of presentation.
After the 12 teams showcased their technology, its potential to address an issue, and the team’s ability to execute the plan, a panel of judges deliberated. As the audience waited for the results, remarks were made by Mark Gorenberg ’76, chair of the MIT Corporation; Anantha Chandrakasan, dean of the MIT School of Engineering and the Vannevar Bush Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; and David Schmittlein, the John C. Head III Dean and professor of marketing at the MIT Sloan School of Management. The student winners included:
MIT Ignite Flagship Prizes
eMote (Philip Cherner, Julia Sebastien, Caroline Lige Zhang, Daeun Yoo, and Jingwen Shan): Sometimes identifying and expressing emotions is difficult, particularly for those on the alexithymia spectrum; further, therapy can be expensive. eMote’s app allows users to identify their emotions, visualize them as art using the co-creative process of generative AI, and reflect on them through journaling, thereby assisting school counselors and therapists.
LeGT.ai (Julie Shi, Jessica Yuan, and Yubing Cui): Legal processes around immigration can be complicated and costly. LeGT.ai aims to democratize legal knowledge. Using a platform with a large language model, prompt engineering, and semantic search, the team will streamline a chatbot for completion, research, and drafting of documents for firms, as well as improve pre-screening and initial consultations.
Sunona (Emmi Mills, Selin Kocalar, Srihitha Dasari, and Karun Kaushik): About half of a doctor’s day is consumed by medical documentation and clinical notes. To address this, Sunona harnesses audio transcription and a large language model to transform audio from a doctor’s visit into notes and feature extraction, affording providers more time in their day.
UltraNeuro (Mahdi Ramadan, Adam Gosztolai, Alaa Khaddaj, and Samara Khater): For about one in seven adults, spinal cord injury, stroke, or disease will induce motor impairment and/or paralysis. UltraNeuro’s neuroprosthetics will help patients to regain some of their daily abilities without invasive brain implants. Their technology leverages an electroencephalogram, smart sensors, and a multimodal AI system (muscle EMG, computer vision, eye movements) trained on thousands of movements to plan precise limb movements.
UrsaTech (Rui Zhou, Jerry Shan, Kate Wang, Alan He, and Rita Zhang): Education today is marked by disparities and overburdened educators. UrsaTech’s platform uses a multimodal large language model and diffusion models to create lessons, dynamic content, and assessments to assist teachers and learners. The system also has immersive learning with AI agents for active learning for online and offline use.
First-Year Undergraduate Student Team MIT Ignite Flagship Prize
Alikorn (April Ren and Ayush Nayak): Drug discovery accounts for significant biotech costs. Alikorn’s large language model-powered platform aims to streamline the process of creating and simulating new molecules, using a generative adversarial network, a Monte-Carlo algorithm to vet the most promising candidates, and a physics simulation to determine the chemical properties.
Runner-up Prizes
Autonomous Cyber (James “Patrick” O’Brien, Madeline Linde, Rafael Turner, and Bohdan Volyanyuk): Code security audits require expertise and are expensive. “Fuzzing” code — injecting invalid or unexpected inputs to reveal software vulnerabilities — can make software significantly safer. Autonomous Cyber’s system leverages large language models to automatically integrate “fuzzers” into databases.
Gen EGM (Noah Bagazinski and Kristen Edwards): Making informed socioeconomic development policies requires evidence and data. Gen EGM’s large language model system expedites the process by examining and analyzing literature, and then produces an evidence gap map (EGM), suggesting potential impact areas.
Mattr AI (Leandra Tejedor, Katie Chen, and Eden Adler): Datasets that are used to train AI models often have issues of diversity, equity, and completeness. Mattr AI addresses this with generative AI with a large language model and stable diffusion models to augment datasets.
Neuroscreen (Andrew Lu, Chonghua Xue, and Grant Robinson): Screening patients to potentially join a dementia clinical trial is costly, often takes years, and mostly results in an ineligibility. Neuroscreen employs AI to more quickly assess patients’ dementia causes, leading to more successful enrollment in clinical trials and treatment of conditions.
The Data Provenance Initiative (Naana Obeng-Marnu, Jad Kabbara, Shayne Longpre, William Brannon, and Robert Mahari): Datasets that are used to train AI models, particularly large language models, often have missing or incorrect metadata, causing concern for legal and ethical issues. The Data Provenance Initiative uses AI-assisted annotation to audit datasets, tracking the lineage and legal status of data, improving data transparency, legality, and ethical concerns around data.
Theia (Jenny Yao, Hongze Bo, Jin Li, Ao Qu, and Hugo Huang): Scientific research, and online dialogue around it, often occurs in silos. Theia’s platform aims to bring these walls down. Generative AI technology will summarize papers and help to guide research directions, providing a service for scholars as well as the broader scientific community.
After the MIT Ignite competition, all 12 teams selected to present were invited to a networking event as an immediate first step to making their ideas and prototypes a reality. Additionally, they were invited to further develop their ideas with the support of the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship through StartMIT or MIT Fuse and the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab.
“In the months since I’ve arrived [at MIT], I’ve learned a lot about how MIT folks think about entrepreneurship and how it’s really built into everything that everyone at the Institute does, from first-year students to faculty to alumni — they are really motivated to get their ideas out into the world,” said President Kornbluth. “Entrepreneurship is an essential element for our goal of organizing for positive impact.”
