Tumblr media
The strong wind whirls up the desert sand, sending it flying through the air and limiting your view to just a few meters in front of you. You squint through the desert planet’s barren landscape, your face completely wrapped in fabric except for a small slit for your eyes, shielding you from the swirling sand. With your robes in shades of brown, you become one with the desert.
Of course nobody on Tatooine is stupid enough to venture outside the protective walls of the cities, despite the desert storm warning – nobody but you. Most of the residents who saw you leave, wanted to stop you, and warned you, but you shook them off, asking them not to worry and that you know what you are doing. You have a mission and not even the strongest storm will thwart it.
However, you may have miscalculated a bit and the storm hit you earlier than you expected, surprising you on your way to your intended destination. Because you can hardly see anything and at the same time have lost sight of the horizon, you are slowly losing your sense of orientation. Due to the heavy sandstorm, your map reader does not work, - it did not show you much anyway since you cannot even enter your destination – which makes it almost impossible for you to survive this night in the desolated desert. Nevertheless, you have survived so much worse. Years ago, just like today, every day is a pure struggle for survival.
And if you had not suddenly arrived in front of a massive stone wall at that moment, then maybe one of the moisture farmers would have found you out here after several days, lifeless, but finally one with the Force. Breathing out in relief against the fabric that covers both your mouth and the rest of your body, you touch the wall with your gloved hands and immediately lean against it, in exhaustion as well as in utter relief. For as soon as your fingertips slid over it, a familiar impulse shot through you, caused by the Force, telling you that you had indeed reached your final destination at that moment.
Giving yourself one last pull, pushing yourself off the wall, your legs aching and your body activating its last reserves, you orientate yourself along the stone wall of the mountain. It does not take long for you to start climbing a steep gradient, but at least the visibility is clearer near the mountain, so you do not immediately fall to your certain death. You will not fail on the last few meters.
With your last remaining strength, you heave yourself up a border before realizing you are at a hidden cave entrance. The entrance you have only seen once before, all those years ago when the twin suns, stand at the zenith high above you. Now, eerie sounds caused by the strong wind howl from inside the cave that lies before you in total darkness.
However, you do not let that stop you and carefully step into the darkness, to which your already irritated eyes first have to get used to. Every step you take, no matter how careful you place your foot down on the stoned floor, reverberates in the narrow corridor. Eventually you reach the cave itself, which rises a few meters above you and ends in an opening at the top that allows light to banish the darkness inside during the day. By now your eyes have adjusted and you can clearly make out the outlines of some objects in the cave when you suddenly hear a cracking sound, right next to your ear. Then, you feel the barrel of a blaster pressing against the back of your head.
Holding your breath, you freeze on the spot.
“What do you want?!”, a voice, loud and angry, yells, but it triggers so much more inside of you than you could have ever imagined. He is alive.
“Don’t shoot! It’s me”, you choke out in a hoarse voice. “Y/N.”
You sense the brief hesitation, but the next moment the deadly weapon moves away from you while you are turned around your own axis all of a sudden, getting caught in a pair of strong arms that wrap around your body. You return the hug like your life depends on it while he hugs you like it is the first and last time in his life.
“I can’t believe it”, he whispers softly against your neck, his breath penetrating even through the layered fabrics to your skin. His hands dig into the fabric of your robe as if he never wants to let go of you again, as if all your problems could vanish at once. His words, his voice, bring tears to your own eyes.
It has been so long since you last heard it, let alone saw him. All contact is prohibited, even now, for good reasons. It is far too risky, far too dangerous. Until now, you have always been able to stick to the rules, not wanting to risk anything, but at some point even your strong will gets broken.
“What- What are you doing here, Y/N?”, he asks you now, his voice just as calm and decisive as you remember it. Now, however, doubt resonates with his words. Although you can barely see him, you know how he is looking at you in that moment. Worried, but also upset.
“Obi-Wan, I was so scared”, you admit, brushing away a tear rolling down your cheek with your sleeve before it can be soaked up by the material covering your face. “There were.. rumours. The Empire executed a Jedi, here on Tatooine. I am- I thought maybe-”
“I am fine, Y/N”, he soothes your worries and helps you free your face from the layers of fabric, his hand lovingly cupping your cheek for a brief moment, his thumb tenderly caressing your skin.
“You shouldn’t be here”, he suddenly says, cold and emotionless, letting go of you as he goes to the back corner of the cave, where it seems he has set up his camp for every night. You follow him in silence and watch as he lights a small fire on the ground.
“They found one of us, Obi-Wan. How can you-”
“Please don’t call me that”, Obi-Wan interrupts quietly, his face now lit by the small flame. For the first time you can see him more closely and how he has changed over the years, yet still looks the same. Small wrinkles have formed on his face that were not there before, his beard and hair are longer, outgrown, but most of all his eyes radiate an incredible sadness. “The name only brings up bad memories.”
“For many it is a sign of hope, the name of a true warrior”, you reply reluctantly, even though you know exactly how much pain and suffering the broken man in front of you has already endured in his short life span. He has lost everything and yet he is still sitting here in front of you, alive.
“That was a long time ago. Obi-Wan Kenobi is just a legend, the new generation will not remember him. Ben, however, is an old hermit hiding in a cave in the mountains of Tatooine who has almost given up his life”, he murmurs in a strained voce, not wanting to believe his own words coming from his mouth.
“That is not true”, you answer, sitting down next to him on the makeshift bed, gently stroking your hand over his shoulder. “Ben Kenobi has a much more important mission than Obi-Wan ever had.”
The cracking of the meanwhile larger fire fills the cold cave, otherwise there is silence. The sandstorm raging outside can only be heard faintly, the thick rock walls insulating the noise from outside very well. Realizing he will not answer you anymore and is now busy cooking something over the fire, you let your eyes wander around his new home for the first time.
Objects, some of which you recognize, some of which are completely unknown, lie on several boxes scattered around the whole cave. On a box you can see two smaller, long caskets and you know what is inside right away, which is why you suddenly become very aware of the lightsaber that is attached to you beneath your robe. Next to one of these boxes, white armor peeks out from under a dark sheet, a special armor from ancient times long past.
“How is she?”, Ben finally breaks the silence, probably noticing what your gaze stopped on. His question makes you smile slightly as you focus your attention back on the fire in front of you.
“She is doing very good. Yesterday she found out about the three challenges of the body, mind, and heart, in order for her to be able to take her mother’s place as queen one day”, you say happily, seeing the image of her smiling in your head, how interested and curious she has become over the last few months. “She is a curious little girl, but also very strong-willed. She will be a good future leader for Alderaan.”
“I am relived to hear that”, Ben nods absently, still watching the flames. As you narrated, you caught a glimpse of the corners of his mouth lifting out of the corner of your eye. But sadness quickly overtook his face again.
“And how is he? What is he doing?”, you ask, also interested in the fate of the little boy.
“You will not believe it, but just this morning I happened to see him pretending to drive a Podracer”, he replies, somewhat amused, eliciting a small chuckle from you. You both perfectly know who he reminds you of, but you keep quiet about it, for your own sake.
“He is a kind boy, always willing to help. But he also has big dreams”, Ben laughs out humorlessly, shaking his head as he thinks about it, handing you a plate with the finished meal. “After they executed the Jedi in front of the residents of Mos Eisley, there was a lot of turmoil. Owen made it clear again that I am not wanted here.”
His words leave you speechless for a moment. While you are close friends with the royal family of Alderaan, the most neutral and peaceful planet in the galaxy, making your mission a whole lot easier, you cannot imagine how he must be feeling. Stranded on the most isolated, desolate planet, with little contact to anyone, and when he does contact with someone, he gets looks. He is only allowed to watch his protégé from afar as he grows up. He is always there for him as his protector, his saviour, although the boy does not even know about him being here.
He could have been the Jedi that was executed, and this realization hits you twice as hard, making your heart ache.
“Everything you ever did was to protect your loved ones, Ben. It is not your fault”, you assure him, knowing full well that he has always blamed himself for the terrible suffering of the galaxy, the sound of his name feeling intimate on your tongue. “Believe me, Owen knows that. He is just trying to protect his family, like you do.”
“You are probably right..”, he finally agrees, his eyes sparkling for a brief moment as he looks at you. “The fight is done. We lost.”
“The fight is never done, Ben. As long as we live, we will continue to fight, to strive for peace in the galaxy. We have a task, and I will not give up until I have fulfilled it”, you encourage him, smiling a little, which makes him seem happier as well.
“Between darkness and defeat, hope survives.”

Across Our Great Divide, There is a Glorious Sunrise
Tumblr media
Words: 1580 Cast of Characters: Obi-Wan x Reader Summary: Reader was a Knight at the Jedi Temple who managed to survive order 66. After years in hiding they’ve decided they are tired of hiding. Reader sets out to find more Jedi and stumbles across someone they’d never thought they’d see again.
Tumblr media
This has to end. You hissed as you pulled on the yoke of your X-wing. Ever since the Clone Wars had ended, you’d been hopping from outer rim planet to outer rim planet trying to keep the Empire and Anakin…Darth Vader at bay. There were rumors, whispers only, that other Jedi had survived what was being called Order 66. An order given by the Emperor himself. With the majority of Jedi cut down in cold blood, all you could do was keep alive the hope that the rumors were true. Surely someone from the high council should have survived at least.
Your next destination, according to the force, was Dagobah. To the untrained eye, Dagobah wasn’t much of a place to call home. It was essentially an overgrown swampy planet covered almost entirely in lakes and lagoons. The planet also had it’s fill of dragon snakes, butcherbugs and a whole host of undesirable creatures. To your knowledge, Dagobah was also a planet with no civilized life forms. Though as Master Windu often reminded you, civilized was a relative term.
So to Dagobah you went and it was there that you found Master Yoda. While no one’s quarters at the temple had been the peak of luxury they were at the very least comfortable. It saddened you to see Master Yoda living in what was almost literally a hole in the ground. A small mud hut nestled between the gnarled roots of a tree, whose species you didn’t know.
“Surprised you found me I am not.” Yoda said as he tutted about preparing dinner for the two of you. “Attune to the living force you always have been.”
“I knew I couldn’t be the only one left.” You told him. “I was hiding for a long time, longer than I’m proud to admit. I’m tired of waiting. It’s been ten years, Master Yoda. Someone has to stand up to the Empire.”
“More time is needed [Y/N].” Yoda disagreed. “Underestimated the Emperor before the jedi did. Make the same mistake again, we must not.”
“I’m sorry, Master Yoda, I don’t mean to be impatient but…”
“For meditation and reflection, I came to Dagobah.” Yoda interrupted you. “If something more you seek, to Tatooine you should go.”
“Tatooine?” You repeated. “I’ve never been but it’s not far from here.” You mapped out a crude course in your mind. Tatooine was an outer rim planet much like Dagobah and in nearly the same sector of space. You could easily make a trip to Tatooine in a day or two. “What’s on Tatooine?” You asked as Yoda placed a bowl of stew in front of you.
“Not what,” Yoda shook his head. “But who.”
“You know of another Jedi that survived?” a feeling of guilt began to take hold of you. All this time you’d been hiding and waiting for someone else to find you and tell you what to do. You couldn’t help feeling you should have been doing more from the start.
“Sense your guilt I can.” Yoda said, pulling you from your thoughts. “Go to Tatooine you must.”
You and Yoda ate your diner in mostly silence. When you were finished, he offered you a warm dry place to rest your head. When the sun rose again on Dagobah you packed your things and thanked Master Yoda for his hospitality.
“See each other again I believe we will.” Yoda told you with confidence.
“I hope that you’re right.” You told him with a sad smile. “Are you going to at least tell me who survives on Tatooine?”
“Tell you I will not.” He answered firmly. “Risk others finding out we cannot.”
Even on a backwater planet like Tatooine a flashy fighter like an X-wing might garner some attention. Slightly out of your way, you overpaid to store your ship at a dock on a more inhabited planet. This gave you the freedom to board a commercial vessel under one of your many aliases. With no leads and hardly any information you walked the dusty streets of Mos Eisley, the major spaceport of Tatooine.
The only positive thing about traveling to a place like Tatooine, people often avoided asking questions. The scavengers, smugglers and various ne’er-do-wells that occupied the spaceport were more concerned with their own illegal activities to worry about the others around them. You drew your cloak over your face as dust swirled up the alley you were standing in. You studied the weathered clothing of the beings that passed you by. One thing was certain, you were farther from Coruscant than you’d ever been before.
You closed your eyes and tried to feel with The Force. A typical pupil of the Jedi Temple may be surprised to discover an outer rim dessert planet could have such life thriving within it. You were not the typical temple student. Your praise from Master Yoda had been heard earned. You’d built a strong relationship with the living Force during your studies. Just as every being had their own voice, tone, and dialect their signature in the Force was similarly identifiable.
You could say with certainty there was no Jedi signature at the Mos Eisley spaceport. Your search would have to continue elsewhere. You hadn’t expected your mission to be easy. If who you were seeking was another skilled Master like Yoda, they would have taken great care to conceal themselves. You rented a landspeeder at a price you knew to be a significant mark up. The credits were of no consequence to you.
A large span of dunes separated Mos Eisley from the next closest settlement, Anchorhead. But even as you intended to head for that settlement you felt yourself being pulled in another direction. So with the Force as your guide, you drove the speeder through uncharted dessert passing moisture farms and small settlements as you went. Again your human instincts were telling you to turn back. That there was nothing but danger ahead. The force continued to guide you forward to an area known by the Tatooinians as the Jundland Wastes.
The Jundland Wastes were a series of valleys buried under tall stone cliffsides. It was unbearably hot and dry. Hardly a living being in sight, none if you excluded the womp rats that scurried away with the first sound of the landspeeder’s repulsors nearing. You worried that for the first time you may not have heard the true will of the Force.
Until you saw it. The small stone hut with the dome roof had been built on a flat solid patch of rock. This was the place; you knew it on sight. This hut felt like home. It didn’t remind you of Coruscant where you lived most of your life. The temple on Coruscant brought up feelings of education, restraint, responsibility. This residence gave you more the feeling of home the way you imagined a family would come to think of one; Safe. Cozy. Familiar.
You knew just who was hiding on Tatooine and you’d never be able to thank the Force enough for bringing him back to you. It was an agonizing the speeder ride from the time you could visualize the hut in the distance to the point in the sand where it would be close enough to walk to the front door. You didn’t even need to make it to the door.
He was standing outside. The years away, or at least the reason behind them, had aged him harsher than you’d expected. His face was already showing worry lines and signs of wrinkles. His beard and mustache were streaked with grey hairs. The hair atop his head was longer than you’d seen it in some time, nearly shoulder length now. But his eyes, His blue eye sparked brighter than any of city lights of Coruscant.
“It’s about time, I was beginning to worry that you’d never come.” He remarked. You couldn’t speak. In all your time apart, all the time you’d spent hiding yourself or searching for other Jedi you hadn’t once even dared to hope that Obi-Wan might be among the surviving Jedi. He’d meant too much to you that the loss would have been too much to bear. Jedi weren’t meant to form attachments, but hell, you were breaking all the rules now anyway.
You jumped from the landspeeder not even bothering to power it down. You let your cloak fall to the sand as you ran. There was no need for formalities or pretense with Obi-Wan. You tossed yourself at him, which took him completely by surprise. Obi-Wan wrapped his arms around you and held you close as you hit the sand. He cradled you, softening the blow to the ground.
“Do you have any idea,” You panted when you’d finished tumbling. “How hard it was to find you?”
“No.” He confessed. “But I’m very glad you did.”
His arms were still wrapped around you, as if he weren’t quite sure you were real. It was possible you could be a mirage or some phantom of the force. He banished both ideas because he couldn’t just see you, he could feel you. He brushed a piece of wind-swept hair out of your face. Your cheeks flushed at the touch.
“Master Yoda said someone was coming and to be ready. I wanted it so badly to be you.” He confessed. Before you could ask how Obi-Wan had communicated with Yoda, who was lightyears away, you found yourself breathless again as Obi-Wan kissed you.

Miss Kit as mistress of bikin aus how funny would it be if canon ahsoka tried to change events and ended up in a time period where obikin are adults and she's behind their first meeting only to discover they just immediately are Like That and want to bang. All your aus where they meet as adults and are Like That inspired me but I couldn't help thinking what poor canon ahsoka would make of her master and grandmaster being such openly horny messes around each other
ok lol BUT what if it’s like. Time traveler Ahsoka who like…..has an instant reset button a la Michael in the Good Place, and has gotten it in her head that the galaxy is really better off if Anakin and Obi-Wan never meet because even in the canon timeline and with a wife, anakin was weird about obi-wan & even with a whole Jedi order that he adored, obi-wan was weird about anakin
so it’s really for the best if they never ever even meet and Ahsoka is going to make that happen!! In her first attempt, she decides to save qui-gon so that he raises anakin as his padawan instead but that just makes obi-wan and anakin even WEIRDER about each other for some reason??? Anakin grows up wanting obi-wan’s approval more than anything else in the entire galaxy and obi-wan takes 2 different padawans just so he never has to go on missions with his old master and anakin, and the galaxy STILL falls apart
Reset button, ok. So. Ahsoka buys baby anakin and Shmi from slavery and frees them. Years later, she’s aghast as she watches smuggler Anakin cozy up to promiscuous slut Jedi Master Obi-Wan even though his padawan, a baby Ahsoka, is RIGHT THERE. After one night together in some backwater cantina, they become weird about each other AGAIN. Sidious finds Anakin because Obi-Wan “””reforms””” him and gets him a job in the Senate (so they can more easily carry on their stupid affair) and Sidious convinces Anakin that Obi-Wan could never really love him because he loves the Jedi Order too much….Anakin Falls, galaxy destroyed—RESET BUTTON
Ok. Ahsoka manipulates it so that Obi-Wan is sent to the Agricorps and not kidnapped and enslaved so he just becomes a farmer instead. Good. Safe. He’s happy or he will be — ok. Oh shit anakin gets sent to the AgriCorps because he’s too angry and untrainable and now he’s meeting Obi-Wan who recognizes himself in this angry teenager and takes him under his wing and shit, now they’re being weird about each other — RESET BUTTON
ok!!!! Ahsoka convinces obi-wan’s parents to not give him to the Jedi Order. Instead, he’s raised as…huh. Prince of Stewjon? Ahsoka didn’t know that but that explains so much about obi-wan’s innate bitchiness and haughty eyebrow movements. Fine, that’s ok. Anakin doesn’t like royalty—no never mind, anakin LOVES royalty how could she forget that anakin married a former queen??? It takes one Jedi mission for padawan anakin to be head over heels for prince obi-wan and then suddenly he’s taking every possible mission to Stewjon he can to convince obi-wan to sleep with him oh NO obi-wan keeps rejecting him but Ahsoka recognizes that fond twinkle in his eyes as being the same way he looked at anakin in the original timeline they’re being WEIRD ABOUT EACH OTHER AGAIN. RESET BUTTON.
ok. Ahsoka KIDNAPS baby anakin to raise by herself in the corner of the galaxy where obi-wan and fate will never find them. baby anakin’s first word is inexplicably “obi”. Ahsoka knows how this is going to go. RESET BUTTON.

hilarious to think about how furious Vader will be for the next 10 years when he'll think about how no matter how strong he gets, how many ships he can wreck with just one hand and how many people he can kill with zero effort, he still doesn't stand a chance against old and tired Obi-Wan Kenobi who hasn't slept in 72 hours and cries after winning

I’ve mentioned this before, but it bares repeating because it really bothers me…
Why can’t Obi-Wan and Ahsoka see Anakin and Vader as one person? Like, the cognitive dissonance of it all… and they do see Anakin and Vader as two separate people… somehow.
I THOUGHT Ahsoka got it. I thought she’d finally accepted that, but no… she’s still on her bullshit.
Your master was an asshole. A harbinger of doom. He damned the Galaxy. He performed multiple genocides, and personally slaughtered children. He did stand by you for a minute, yes, but ultimately, he attempted to murder you and would have if you didn’t have a god-bird that coaxed force sensitive teenagers into a space/ time portal to bail your ass out.
Maybe we need to stage an intervention between Ahsoka, Obi-Wan and the Tuskin Raiders so that they can tell their story. Oh. Right, they’re still dead.

Kiss Me (Obitine drabble)
requested by anon
Obi-Wan wondered if Satine could sense the tension in the balcony air as much as he did.
"The order's reassigning us." Obi-Wan said.
"I know." Satine said. "There's no reason for you to stick around anyways"
But she would've been reason enough.
"Master Jinn told me to say my farewells now."
"Then say them."
But instead of speaking, he let himself act out of impulse- for the only time in his life- responding by giving Satine a hug.
She returned his embrace and whispered. "I'll never forget you."
And with a gentle kiss on the forehead, he let her go.
(a/n and tags under cut)
a/n: This fic is based on this song! I hope this was as fun for you guys to read as it was for me to write!
tagging uhhhhhh @accidental-spice @kanerallels @silverpaintedstars sure i think you guys like obitine

Thinking about how so much of Obi-Wan’s regret stemmed from believing he failed the younglings of the Jedi Temple-younglings like Reva. That one of the heaviest losses he felt from Order 66 was the loss of children. It is the bodies of children that forces Obi-Wan to consider killing Anakin.
And how in his time in exile he got to see and teach Luke, Leia, and Ezra—the new children of the Jedi Order. That he gets to see the legacy the future of his Order and his family in safe hands.
And though he couldn’t save those children. He can protect these.

I pivoted -- I saw this promo photo of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen from Revenge of the Sith and decided to use it as a reference for my cover image for Don't Dream It's Over. (I'm still working on the original idea, but I want to take my time with it.) Really pleased with how this one came out, especially the blue highlights from the lightsaber and the greys in Obi-Wan's hair and beard.
I'm also reviving my Ko-fi account for the podfic version of this story and all my future writing, so if you're able to then feel free to buy me a coffee :)

Hi love! Could I request an obi Wan X reader where it’s late at night and he finds her reading in a library and he joins her?
peaceful | obi-wan kenobi
pairing: obi-wan x jedi!reader
word count: 0,6k
summary: where obi-wan joins y/n in the library
a/n: enjoy <3
warnings: mentions of war
universe: star wars
Tumblr media
With your face bathed in a soft bluish glow, you scroll through the pages of the holobook that sits on your lap, only reading the titles of each chapter to see if there is anything relevant to you. Sitting with your legs crossed, you lean against the back of the armchair, which is located right by a large round window and has recently become your new favorite spot. It is only here that you can finally rest, letting your mind wander, and enjoy the rain gently pattering against the window, hiding the dark and busy city beyond.
Coruscant never sleeps and, apparently, neither do you. Especially not these last few days, considering you only have one day left until you embark on one of your longest and probably most dangerous missions so far. For this reason, you try to acquire as much knowledge about the planet and its habitat and inhabitants as you can in the short time since the Jedi Council gave you the instructions.
It is always hard to keep your cool in times of war, but it is moments like these when you can just sit here in the Jedi archives, alone, thinking about everything and nothing. For some inexplicable reason, it gives you a sense of security. The mission will probably cost you the last of your strength, but the end of the Clone Wars is in sight, and if this single mission can bring you a little closer to the end, then you will do just that. Giving your all and fighting for your values, for what is right.
Your eyes get caught on a chapter you find useful, and it is only when you change your sitting position that you suddenly feel a change in your surroundings. You do not even have to look up to know he is here.
"Still out and about at this hour?", you tease him, carefully putting the book aside before looking at him because let's face the truth, you can't take your eyes off of him for more than a few seconds. As soon as you do look at him, however, your heart aches in your chest.
The man in front of you has seen a lot of terrible things in this war and it only makes you want to end it even quicker. His hair is disheveled, probably from tossing and turning back and forth for hours to get his well-deserved sleep, which was obviously not granted to him in the end. Obi-Wan only returned to Coruscant today after being sent out to Kamino for several days, and has to leave again tomorrow, with you. Which is why you made it your task to spare him as many difficulties as possible, dealing with the necessary information intensely.
"I knew I would find you here", is his answer as he sits down on the armchair next to you, a small smile on his lips as he can't help himself but to softly run his hand over your head. "And before you tell me to leave and get some sleep: I can't."
"I know", you respond sadly, only knowing too well how it feels to run on low fuel and still not being able to fall asleep, letting the misery of this galaxy behind. Grabbing his hand, you push your palm against his before closing your fingers around it, squeezing lightly.
Reaching over you with his other hand, Obi-Wan grabs another holobook that you have carefully searched out a few hours ago, leaning back in his seat. But not before placing a soft kiss on your hair, whispering 'I'm proud of you' along the way.
Your heart painfully beats for this man. You know that all of this, everything you have build up, can be over tomorrow, and yet he does not disturb the peace you have built around here. He fades in perfectly and, with your hands intertwined, reads on, the soft glow illuminating his beautiful face.
You can't wait for all of this to be over. Because once it is, you will finally make him yours. And he will finally make you his.

Fighting Dragons With You (Pt 1)
Tumblr media
Part Two /   Words: 1972 Cast of Characters: Young!Leia, Obi Wan Kenobi Summary: Reader is a former Jedi and friend to both Padmé Amidala & Anakin Skywalker. Following the death of Padmé, when it’s decided that twins Luke and Leia must be separated for their own safety, Obi Wan accompanies Like to Tatooine while Reader accompanied Leia to Alderaan. For the past decade Reader has been watching over the young princess disguised as a governess. Until something happens to put the two Jedi on a collision course with each other once again.
Tumblr media
“Princess, don’t you think it’s time to come down from there?” You asked the ten-year-old who had effortlessly perched herself high in one of the trees near the edge of the palace grounds.
You didn’t ask how the princess managed to climb so high so quickly. You didn’t ask how she always seemed to know when to give into the whims of the adults around her and when press her luck.  You didn’t ask because you knew the answer. Leia Organa was not just the crown princess of Alderaan. Someday, force willing, she would grow to be a great Jedi and a respected diplomat.
“Wouldn’t you much rather come up here?” Leia suggested. A playful whirl escaped the small droid hovered next to the princess’ head. LO-LA59, or Lola as she’d been nicknamed, was the closest companion the young girl had. A simple toy compared to complex inner workings of something like a pilot droid, but Lola would play games with Leia or could help perform simple tasks. She was good to have around.
Lola flapped the two panels on the back of her disk-shaped enclosure, waiting patiently for you to join the two of them in the tree. It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for you to clamber up there and occupy a branch of your own. You’d been found up a tree on more than one occasion by each of Leia’s parents as it was usually the best way to get what you wanted in return from the princess. A little tit-for-tat exchange in hopes that some of your lessons may be taken in by your spirited young charge.
You’d become the governess of the Organa household a decade ago, on the exact day that Leia had been born. It was hard to believe ten years had passed already, everything had happened so quickly at first. Documents were forged. Transport ships and royal escorts were rushed from Coruscant to bring you both to your new home, Alderaan. Given the choice of planets for your exile, and you certainly hadn’t been given one, Alderaan truly wasn’t a bad one to end up on.
Free of any major or organized crime, the planet was practically Utopian. Off worlders were asked to check their weapons at the spaceport and despite the very recent ending of the Clone Wars, Alderaan was prosperous, thriving. Perhaps that was why no one had questioned where or how the Organas had been able to adopt a baby so quickly. Why no one had prodded too much into the paperwork claiming you to be a highly valued educator from Coruscant.
Settling into your new life hadn’t been easy. You hardly slept that first month, and even now you awoke with a start at the smallest creak of a floor panel. Long gone were the nights of deep meditative sleep you’d grown accustomed to at the temple. Alderaan may have been where you lived but it wasn’t your home. You’d leave, someday, when the time was right. For now, you had to do your part. So you squared your shoulders, inhaled a deep breath, and looked up at the princess and her hovering pet.
“Of course.” You agreed with her. “I’d like nothing more than to swing about from the trees with you Princess, but your parents are expecting us.”
“Just one more [Y/N], please?” Leia cast her eyes to the sky. She was watching the ships as they entered or exited the planet’s atmosphere. The expression on her face was too familiar for you to protest. It sent a pang of nostalgia right through you. While Bail had always been polite enough to feign a shared interest in ships for his daughter’s sake, she’d never know that her birth father had been one of the greatest pilots the galaxy had ever seen.
“A Tri-wing!” Leia remarked with excitement, pulling you out of your thoughts. “That’s a new one.” She looked down, hoping to steal more time away, but she knew her time was up. Sighing greatly, the princess working her way down from her perch. “It’s not like anyone would miss me if I wasn’t there.”
Despite her protests, Leia tried to behave the rest of the afternoon. You barely managed to get her changed and dressed properly before her mother’s family arrived from off world. Leia skidded to a halt alongside Bail and Breha just as the visiting transport arrived. She smiled her broadest smile and greeted her older cousin, Niano politely. He snubbed her, acting as if she weren’t there. To her credit, the future politician lifted her chin high appearing unbothered.
As always, you accompanied the royal family throughout their day. Most of which progressed without incident. Leia had been particularly impressive having made it several hours without even an attempt to sneak off. There was a reception celebrating the arrival of the foreign guests. At the reception, you and Leia once again found yourselves standing near her cousin. Things came to a head when Leia thanked a droid for bringing her a drink.
“You don’t need manners when you’re talking to a lower life form.” Niano balked at her.
“Then I guess I don’t need manners when I’m taking to you.” Leia commented back. You thanked the force that you hadn’t started to sip form your own drink yet, as you bit down on your lower lip, holding back a smile. Her tone had been so matter-of-fact and unbothered as if there were no other response to what her cousin had just said. Then again it hit you. For just a moment she wasn’t ten-year-old Leia Organa, but fourteen-year-old Queen Amidala.
“You know what the difference is between you and me, cousin?” Niano questioned, already a bite to his tone. “I know things. You know my father says they never let you leave this planet. They don’t want anybody to know about you because you’re not one of us. You’re not even a real Organa.”
The word “real” had struck a nerve with you. What did this little son of a bantha know? His parents were egotistical, classist…You had to stop yourself mid-mental insult because Bail was staring you down across the room in a way you’d come to recognize as “Do something about her.” You hadn’t been listening to whatever insults Leia had thrown back at Niano, only catching her last words.
“I may not have seen much, cousin, but I can see that.” She turned away from him, reaching for her cup.
“Princess, perhaps we should get some fresh air?” You suggested firmly.
“I’m not sure why I’m in trouble.” Leia pouted once the two of you were alone together walking outside. “You heard him, [Y/N]. He was being horrible!”
“Leia,” You sighed. Perhaps this is why you hadn’t been granted a Padawan learner of your own before. You’d never been one for grand speeches or following the rules. It was why you’d gotten along with her parents so well. You missed them both terribly. Rather than searching for words of wisdom from a Jedi Master, you tried to think of what Anakin or Padma might say to their daughter if they were there instead of you.
“You’re not going to like everyone you meet. Most days you don’t like me very much.” You said. “But we always find a way to work things out together.”
“That’s different.” She insisted. “You’re my teacher. You’re trying to teach me stuff.”
“Well, maybe this is just a different kind of lesson.” You suggested. “I’m not always going to be here to teach you things Leia. And there are a lot more people in the Galaxy like your cousin than there are people like me.”
“Is this the part where you tell me I have to apologize to him?” Leia asked.
“I think this is the part where I remind you that someday you’re going to rule this planet.” You turned to look at the city of Aldera, Alderaan’s capital, which was visible from the Royal Palace of Alderaan. “And although your mother, your father, and I can try to guide you, only you can decide what kind of leader you want to be.”
“I’ll apologize.” She mumbled. “But do we have to go back right away?” Leia’s eyes looked away from Aldera to the tree line just a few yards away. You smiled.
“Alright. Ten minutes. But in that time, you’d better draft the best apology Alderaan’s heard in a hundred years.” Leia had taken off towards the woods the second you’d give her permission. Not one to waste time, she’d darted off before you could follow. “You forgot rule number one!” You called after her, stepping into the woods. “Always stay where I can…”
Your blood turned to ice in your veins. You didn’t recognize the faces of the three beings before you, but from their attire and equipment you knew what their occupation was. Bounty Hunters. Someone had sent them to kidnap the Princess. Bounty Hunters wasn’t great news, but it did mean they weren’t here for you. They didn’t know about the potential power that Leia possessed or that you yourself were a fully trained Jedi Knight.
On reflex your dominant hand reached for a lightsaber that wasn’t there. You hadn’t worn the saber in a decade. You didn’t even know where it was. It had been given to Bail for safe keeping and was buried somewhere off the record. Still, Bounty Hunters could be reasoned with, paid off. While Leia squirmed in the arms of the green skinned Bounty Hunter, you tried to discern which of the remaining two was the leader.
“It’s been some time since we’ve had members of the guild on Alderaan.” You remarked. Trying to keep the conversation casual. “I’m not sure who’s sent you, but I can assure you taking this child would be a mistake. Why don’t you let her go and…”
“This doesn’t need to concern you.” One Bounty Hunter interrupted. He was wearing an orange and red dyed tuning with black trousers and a long black coat. He pointed his oversized blaster at you.  You absently wondered how he managed to smuggle that on world. “I’m guessing you work up at the palace. Big place like that might not notice one less employee.”
“No need to be so hostile.” You assured the leader, holding your hands up to show them you were unarmed. “I was merely suggesting you allow me to escort you inside to the palace where I’m sure my employers would happily pay you double what you’ve been offered. Maybe even triple.”
“Why should we believe you?” The third Bounty Hunter asked. “You think we’re just gonna walk into a trap?”
“I understand your hesitation. I suppose if I were you it would seem like a trap. How about this then, if it’s a ransom you’re after, take me instead.” You offered. “I’ve been under the Organa’s employ for years. I’m a member of the inner circle. They would pay heavily for my safe return.”
The three Bounty Hunters exchanged glances. You were genuine in your offer; you’d allow them to take you if it meant Leia got away freely. You’d deal with the minor detail of escaping afterwards. What you said had been true enough, you were a member of the Organa’s close household, but you doubted Breha or Bail would pay any sort of ransom for your safe return. Especially after you’d failed your one and only task, keep Leia safe.
“Alright.” The Lead hunter nodded at the third who stepped forward to bind your wrist. As you heard the click of the binders locking your wrist together, the Leader continued. “We’ll take you both.” You didn’t have time to argue as the stock end of his blaster connected with the back of your head, rendering you unconscious.

Remember that even when he's killing younglings and snapping the necks of children, it's Anakin.
It's still Anakin, our hero turned living nightmare.
There is no Vader, it's all Anakin — and that's what hurts.
