What color are orcas' eyes?

In short, mostly brown. In long, it's a bit complicated as Killer whales (and for that matter, all cetaceans) have multi coloured eyes! Unlike us humans, who have a singular coloured iris and a white sclera, cetacean eyes come in more flavours. Their iris is circled by a pale ring of varying colour, and the surrounding sclera is more often than not coloured too, sometimes even bi-colored. I have actually been working on a cetacean eye-colour-chart thing so I have some neat illustrations ready.

Here you can see the components that make up a cetacean's eye. It should be noted though that when relaxed, the eyelids cover much of it, leaving almost only the iris visible. As an example: a Harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena). On the left a clear view of the eye in its totality; on the right as visible in life.

Onto the whale in question. All cetaceans have beautiful brown irises: in many it is an unbelievably rich reddish hue when sunlight hits it directly. In shadow or underwater it looks more subdued though. Then comes the pale ring which in Killer whales is quite variable: in some animals it is very pale, almost white, while others have beautiful bright blue rings. The sclera appears two-toned in blackfish as far as I've seen. Killer whales have a rather modest dark brown area of sclera around the iris-pale-ring-combo, with the surrounding "base" sclera reddish pink. For comparison, False killer whales (Pseudorca crassidens) have a bit more substantive dark brown sclera area, with the surrounding sclera a striking bright red.

Which Quirks do you think would be the best for fishing?

I'm removing "Electrification" and "Hellflame" from the list of candidates. Those both would help a lot wish fishing, but just seem so absurdly cruel and unfair to use. Same does with "Anivoice", but for less cruel reasons. Honorable Mention will go to "Mimicry" since with that, you could quite literally become one with the rod.

Spearlike Bones: Humans have been fishing with spears for as long as we have had them. Get in touch with your ancestors and teach those water breathers what for.

Gatling: Humans have been fishing with guns for as long as we have had them. Get in touch with your patriotic roots and show those communist fish what for.

Larceny: Forget the fishing line. Just grab the fish straight out of the water and put it in your collection. And if you can't do it, pull some fish from other peoples' hauls.

Vibrate This is kind of like "Electirifcation" and "Hellflame", affecting the whole of the fishing spot to increase the odds of a getting a catch, but something like this is more sporting by merely controlling whether fish are going.

Lizard Tail Splitter: Just stick your body parts into the water. No hook, no rod, just make the fish come to you. Hey, if people can catch catfish with hands full of meat, you can do the same with other parts of your body. Just try not to lose them.

Fiber Master: When you just want to have all your bases covered. Just have fifty fishing lines going at any given time and when you feel the slightest pull, fling that fish in the air. Yeah, could make a net with it, but that's not real fishing.

Orcinus: I mean, orcas are one of the greatest predators of the ocean. So you could always catch them with your greater water movement and echolocation abilities. If nothing else, it would be hilarious to see people's reaction to seeing an orca in the local fishing spot.

Fierce Wings: This might just be the best one. Between them working like blades and being able to detect vibrations, you can just place them around the water to detect any movement and destroy it with dozens of feathers. I mean it's only natural. Hawks are natural fishers.

Anyway uhhh its a bit hard for me to I guess specifically chose what I want to talk about so you guys getttttt info about my COTL oc Orcinus okay... cool. under the cut

Ok so she is the Bishop of Disaster and gained for crown at a fairly young age? I havent 100% decided yet but an older god attacked her hometown which ended with the death of her best friend/sorta lover who isnt that important as well as her family, and she found her crown when fleeing to the oceanside cliffs outside her home.

then like 1000 years or whatever happens yayyy shes a cult leader now. She outwardly presents as very generous and kind but in private shes a very bitter and tired person? She's not super happy and doesn't really.. care about the people around her? as much as she just cares about how they react to her. Her only real friends are her witness (Leviathan) and maybee one or two other bishops who she is allied with.

Then. She meets Heket. ooh boy.

The two have a weird secret-not-secret yuri nightmare thing going on. They are deeply, deeply in love, find great comfort in each other being an escape from their roles of their godhood.

Orcinus adores how bold, loving (towards her family at least) heket is and loves her for being.. selfish I guess? Orcinus is self-sacrifical not in a noble way if that makes sense and is endeered by how much heket can just. have her boundaries and is so loud and opinionated. Heket loves how Orcinus can be comforting and a voice of reason when she gets in her own head. She also just loves how 'good' she is.

Heket keeps her meetings with Orcinus secret from her siblings. I don't think they'd actually be that upset over it but she certainly internalised something that makes her want to have this one, single thing to herself.

Anyway theres a LOT more like what happens after yknow the whole lamb thing and like my idea for what a hypothetical 'dlc' would be like if she was in the actual game but yeah :]

Now I'm starting to wonder what small vessel(s) might have injured an orca in those waters around, oh, late last year or so...

Bearing in mind what we already know about the intelligence and (possible) linguistic abilities of cetaceans in general—and bearing in mind the way orcas will get together in pairs or groups to attack sharks—it wouldn't surprise me in the least if "word" had somehow started to get around...

have you seen any of the grey transient killer whales off the west coast of north america? they’re beautiful! researchers aren’t exactly sure what causes the coloration. it’s hypothesized that chediak-higashi syndrome may be to blame, as it was documented in a captive individual from a related population. beautiful animals though, so far, none of the wild grey calves have survived to adulthood

Number 6 lover here. Let's try this again. Let's say that Number 6 is in his Plasma form then Destruction Style. Do you think these forms of Number 6 have a chance of beating either the Endeavor or the rest of the Top 10 heroes?

Since this covers such a large cast of characters, I'm only going to give brief summaries of the fights. If you want anything more detailed, feel free to ask about them.

Gang Orca and Kamui Woods: These two are pretty obvious. Both of them have major weaknesses to fire and heat. Number 6 is a giant mass of plasma. This is such a bad match up for the both of them I don't really think they stand any chance. Maybe Gang Orca's sonic attacks and greater physically could help him stay in the fight if he us tried to tank through it, but it would mean very little.

Miruko: Miruko has a very similar skill set to Number 6, moving very fast and hitting just as hard, so I think that could help her at least keep up with him. His Destruction Form would be an issue with given it's size, but I think she certainly has the speed and power to keep up with his attacks and could easily get a headshot on him. It would be a hard fought fight, but she at least has a chance against him.

Edgeshot: Edgehsot is in a similar boat to Miruko given his overall speed and striking power. Only this time, I think he'd fair better because he's got much sounder tactics. Instead of throwing himself at Number 6. He could just slink around and wait for the right chance to strike for maximum damage. Again, it would be a hard fought battle, but I think he has some good odds.

Best Jeanist: This one is hard because it depends a lot on equipment. I doubt standard fibers would hold up against Number 6, meaning there isn't much else Best Jeanist can do. However, if he has any of those cables, he's golden. He could keep Number 6 at a range and keep cutting up his attacks and body with the fibers until Number 6 runs out of time or Best Jeanist takes out the main body.

Hawks: While Hawks does suffer from the same fire weakness as Kamui Woods and Gang Orca, I think that he fairs a lot better do to his immense speed and reaction time. Plus with his feathers, he has a lot of ammo he could use and can keep his main body at a distance while he observes him form a distance. He easily cut into the plasma body or get for a kill shot right off the bat by shoving one through his head.

Endeavor: I absolutely think that Endeavor could beat Number 6, even in his higher forms. Number 6 is fast, but I think that Endeavor is fast and skilled enough to at least keep up against him. With the sheer range and scope of his fire attacks, he could blast apart Number 6's body without much issue. It wouldn't be that far off to how Koichi beat him: just keep blasting his body apart and don't get hit until you win.
