Okay so this ask resonated within my soul. I've wanted to write about just how willing Pure Vanilla and Shadow Milk are willing to share the one that holds their affections, across many different dynamics (yandere suitors sharing vs. normal poly relationship between three mostly stable individuals, etc.)

But I really, really like the thought of the two of them just closing the relationship after they include you in it. Because I love to see Shadow Milk when he's a snarling, spitting animal and PV needs to be possessive over his belongings friends and family more because I said so and it brings me joy.

I think they both would handle it quite differently, their jealousy. Shadow Milk Cookie is all external force, his hackles raise when he sees another cookie rub their hands over your back when they hug you. Shadow Milk Cookie is insecure desperate and clingy enough to shoot first ask questions later if he feels you're drifting away from him.

You're not, you tell him that when he's curled around you like some type of hissing weasel.

He believes you, but he just wouldn't feel better if he didn't teach that other cookie a little lesson! One should know better than to enroach on his territory.

Shadow Milk Cookie feels nonthreatened only when it's Pure Vanilla Cookie (and his other Beast friends, as he has expressed to the two of you eagerly). He doesn't mind it, loves it even when he finds their scent on you as he wraps himself around you. It's quite comforting.

But a stranger's touch on you feels wrong, like a sin. Shadow Milk Cookie actually gets very antsy until he's at least sniffed out this foolish doughbrain and assure himself that this won't happen twice.

You and Pure Vanilla Cookie have helped a lot on this regard; Shadow Milk's wrath used to mean something serious. Well, relentlessly stalking a cookie and pulling meanspirited "pranks" on them still is quite serious. Baby steps, everyone!

Needless to say, but I'll say it anyway, Pure Vanilla Cookie is not nearly as unhinged and unstable as his Beast partner is. In fact, I think it would take a much bigger push to feel like Pure Vanilla had to step in. He's patient, kind, and understanding.

But Pure Vanilla also feels jealousy, like any other cookie.

Pure Vanilla Cookie doesn't puff out his chest and start strutting around like a peacock when someone flirts with you. Actually, he thinks it's quite flattering that his partner is attractive enough for such a positive response!

(But if I just left it at that and didn't find some way to make Pure Vanilla Cookie's hackles rise then we wouldn't be here right now.)

I think the thing that gets Pure Vanilla's eyes to snap open is when someone persists with you. Fair enough, anyone with a partner would feel the need to smile a bit more tightly and wander over to put a comforting hand on yltheir shoulder while making subtle eye contact with the pursuer, it's totally normal!

Just a little sign, y'know? A quick nuzzle to your cheek will do the trick.

Unbeknownst to you - there's the faintest reflection of alitted pupils in Pure Vanilla's eyes when his gaze flits towards your increasingly unwelcome guest. Shadow Milk Cookie has been a really good influence, huh?

I think PV would process this internally, more than anything else. You notice he kind of anxiously prowls around you a little bit more, but he goes back to acting like his merry self a day or two later.

Although, his insecurities ring like a bell through his souljam, which Shadow Milk Cookie can feel. They're both watching you much more often than you would think.

And isn't that so sweet? So romantic? You have not one, but two ultra powerful cookies with stable emotions watching your every move, making extra sure that you're safe and sound in their arms, and their arms only! You're in good hands, here.

The preludes to telos

Sand drips down like heavy rain, a never ending cascade in the hourglass of her realm. Athena sighs as she steps down onto the platform, a tapestry weaving together before her very eyes.

“Old friend…” She says, her brow furrowed. “You’ve changed drastically since last I saw you…”

“Remember me…” The tapestry sang, detailing Odysseus’s mistake as he glared towards the blinded cyclops. “I am the infamous… ODYSSEUS!!”

That was the last she saw of her champion after their… fight. Yet in her absence something changed. Something unnatural, mythical yet dangerous. It forced her to stay back by orders of her own father, even Hera has become wary… Yet her concern doesn’t waver, her thirst to know what happened to her champion— her friend… It needs to be quenched. Though she made sure to be extra careful, only viewing the bare minimum. If Odysseus had truly somehow caught the attention of K- him, then she must tread with upmost caution.

“Let’s see where you’ve been..” Athena says, taking a deep breath as she let the tapestry weave forth, surrounding her as strings of yarn shape forth the events.

“Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” Aeolus singsongs, the goddess took note that the man before her was still mortal, still alright.

That all changed in the next scene as the storm roars and the seas crash, her champion holding her uncle’s trident, it’s prongs buried deep into the god’s throat. Silver cracks dance around his skin, like thorns wrapping around the man, digging in and prying him open. He snarled, his voice taunting and his mouth curled up to a sinister grin, yet his eyes once full of life have nothing behind them; not boredom, not malice, nothing. “Didn’t you say that ruthlessness is mercy upon our-“

She leaps back to when the bag was opened, maybe it had something to do with that? No, Aeolus may be mischievous but even they wouldn’t dare to play around with forces beyond their control. All the goddess of wisdom could fathom was that Odysseus changed after he woke up when the bag was opened. Did he struck out and reach for him while he slumbered, weakened from 9 restless, sleepless days? Athena barely registers the ichor seeping from her fist.

“Protecting them is all you want to do.” Odysseus said in the next scene, tossing in herbs and leaves as Circe stares in bafflement behind him, dagger in hand yet she makes no move to attack. Maybe she couldn’t, not when there’s the abyss of the unknown seeping out of the man before her. She lets him turn his men back from pigs and leaves.

In the next, her champion is in a cave, his eyes so empty now have the smallest spark of sympathy and bittersweet sorrow, extending his hand to the beast before him, “Why not come along with me, fellow monster and perhaps comrade?”

Wait- that didn’t happen. That couldn’t have happened. She leaps back to when they were on Circe’s island, staring towards the ocean where the ships have departed, they all went back around the direction of where the cyclops reside, nowhere near the way to Scylla’s lair. So why did she see a scene that should not exist?

The tapestry shifts and Athena found herself leaping through memories of memories through her friend’s eyes. Some were similar, most were inconsistent, a few were things she wished she’d never seen yet none of these happen. None of these ever took place so why does it feel like it did?!

“I’m so glad we see eye to eye—“

“There are other ways of persuasion-“

“Die-“

“Where is my brother? Why do you wear his skin?”

“Odysseus king of Ithaca is the name, and do remember me as I engulf your island in flames-“

“You and me are the same-“

“I cannot tell if you are mortal or something more-“

“You lost yourself-“

“Greet the world with open arms-“

“Waiting, waiting for you-“

“How can luck run out if I know what will play out—“

“Good night…”

in the walls of Odysseus’s home, flower petals drifting around as her friend laid on the bed, exhaustion painting his face from the deep eyebags he had. His eyes were to her relief, not empty, yet the life in them was flickering, struggling not to be consumed by the pools of sorrow and resignation. Beside him was his wife Penelope, smiling gently through tears as she rests her husband on her lap but what shocked the goddess the most was seeing her father on the other side of the bed, his hand cradling the back of Odysseus’s head. Never had Athena seen such warmth, guilt, love, anger, sadness and more swirl around her father before, not even with Hera did Zeus display such a side so viscerally.

“I don’t want to sleep…” Odysseus begged, his cheeks dried from tears he could no longer shed. “If I close my eyes, I’ll have to say goodbye….”

“My heart, you must rest. Do not see it as a goodbye.” Penelope reassures, kissing his forehead. “Rather, view it as a good night. Perhaps we might not see another day with you, but let us spend it together now… One day you will be free, and Helios’s light will greet you.”

“I’ll make sure you will see the next morning sun.” Zeus promised, his eyes narrowing as his hair turns dark and clouds start to gather outside. His body simmers with righteous fury akin to a massive storm approaching in the horizon. “I think I know who is responsible for your endless plight.”

“It won’t matter, you’ll forget…” Odysseus choked out a defeated sob and Athena barely held herself back from rushing towards the memory. The thunder fades and Zeus can only give an apologetic smile, patting his head, “Perhaps, but eventually I will succeed in saving you. We will succeed in saving you. So until then, wait little king.”

“Wait my heart.” Penelope says as the two give their kiss to the man about to enter Hypnos’s realm. “Soon, you will see the next morning sun.”

“… I wish I could believe that…” Odysseus muttered, yet despite his lack of hope he gives a small smile as his body slumps and his eyes close, “Good night…”

Athena blinks away the tears, finally noticing her body trembling. So…. That was why Odysseus suddenly became a demigod with his powers slithering around him.

“Several years…” She exhaled, her voice threatening to break, “He’s kept you trapped in an endless role… Such torture would take a heavy toll…”

“And that’s quite enough, little girl…” A voice echos from behind, plunging the goddess’s heart straight to Hyperborea. She swallows, not daring to turn around because she knows exactly who it was. Who had made the sands of her hourglass stop, who had started to shatter her realm slowly like it was nothing but glass. The titan who had tormented Odysseus, slowly poisoning him to be his champion…

“Kronos…” The titan hummed upon hearing his name, even when he’s not there physically, the goddess can sense her realm being destroyed with each step he took. He stopped, and Athena doesn’t need to turn around to see his smile, “You are quite impressive little girl, but I’m afraid you cannot dig deeper anymore. Soon my champion will slumber, and you will forget, and the cycle will continue again and again…”

The sound of a tug snapped across the area like a whip and Athena’s eyes widened in horror as she finally realised what he was doing. “NO—“

“Goodbye.”

The tapestry unravels, flames licking and following the interwoven yarn. Athena rushes forward to save whatever she could, but her spear and weapons rust upon her touch. She can’t forget, she cannot afford to let her friend suffer even more! It’s all decaying too fast... She must not forget, she has to do something! Her friend needs her! Odysseus needs her! She refused to bow down to time’s whims!

She refuse, she refuse, she refuse she refuse she REFUSE—

Sand drips down like heavy rain, a never ending cascade in the hourglass of her realm. Athena sits quietly as she weaves her newest tapestry in an effort to stop thinking about her former champion.

She was so focused on her goal, it took her standing up after completing her project to finally took note of the piece of cloth falling from her lap. Curious and confused, she picks it up, examining the burnt edges, hasty weaving, warp threads and decaying yarn. Strange, this seems to be her handiwork but she doesn’t remember having it on her lap. However, when she turns around to get a better picture of what it was, she found herself frozen in place.

Her former champion, the one she had been avoiding dwelling on stood in the center of the tapestry, arms above his head as multiple chains wrap around his body, and shackles rest tightly on his wrists and ankles. His expression was empty, something that shouldn’t- didn’t belong to a man such as he. Behind him depicts a figure of no appearance with the exception of a clock on it’s face. With one hand, it held Odysseus’s wrists, almost possessively while the other holds a sickle, the tip of it pointing directly at where his heart is. And at the bottom were simply two words unevenly weaved yet they conveyed their message clearly;

SAVE HIM

DIES.

spoilers for chapter 5 part 2 (and maybe part 1)!

Shiro comes back after his contract with his demon is finally made and settled. fun fact; compared to the rest of the butlers (who took 4-6 months to make their contracts), Shiro only took 2 months.

he makes a contract with a demon called Gaap. Gaap’s special ability is to block certain parts of someone’s memory. Berrien believes he could use this ability to awaken Bellen from the state he is in now;

[as Bellen fell under the control of his demon after experiencing great despair, by blocking those memories he would come back to normal after Berrien removes his power keeping him in a dormant state.]

Berrien decides to talk to the “person” he and Aruji spoke to in Bellen’s “heart” (in his inner mind). the person as Berrien suspected was Belial, the demon he has a contract with.

Berrien, Shiro and Aruji go into Bellen’s “heart”. they meet Belial again who knew what prompted them to visit soon and which demon Shiro had a contract with. he affirms that this time the chance of Bellen coming back to normal was high.

[when Bellen would awaken, he would be under full control of Byleth (his demon) who would go on a rampage, taking out his 2000+ years of anger out. (Byleth is a demon that’s wrathful and evil by nature.).]

Belial gives Berrien an offer: to lend his power to Berrien to fight Bellen (in his “demonised” state.) in return however Berrien would forever lose his demonic ability of preventing the progression of one’s fall to their demon, i.e. the “demonisation” (as he stops “time” for them.)

with this, Belial tells Berrien to think it over. Berrien, goes back with Aruji and Shiro. they have a huge discussion with all the butlers over whether to take this offer as Berrien would forever lose his very important ability. in the end they all decide to go for it. the other butlers wanted to wait for Shiro since he had just made the contract with his demon so using his ability this soon could prove dangerous but Belial had confirmed that that only happens when the demon resents the person they are bound to; in case of Shiro, Gaap had accepted him.

they visit the training site (the one where the new devil butlers go for their initial training). they bring Bellen with them. (after a cute scene where Aruji comforts Berrien who was feeling nervous about what could possibly happen if they go through with their plan), they proceed with their plan.

Belial lends his power to Berrien (and unlike the usual cases we’ve had so far, Berrien is conscious of what he’s doing.). he removes the power on Bellen causing Bellen (under the control of Byleth) to awaken. Byleth is super pissed off, they engage in a fight but since Berrien is used to the fighting style of Bellen, the battle ends pretty quickly.

Aruji summons Gaap for Shiro and his ability is used to block the memory (which put Bellen in despair) for Bellen.

now, the next morning, while they’re still at the training site but in the lodge there, Bellen wakes up. he has a reunion with Berrien who cries his heart out 😭 a bit later, Aruji finally gets acquainted with Bellen.

Bellen is revealed to have fuzzy memories of his past and absolutely no idea of what caused him to fall under the control of his demon.

Bellen and Shiro stay at the training site for the training the butlers do when they newly join. Aruji and some of the other butlers leave.

2 weeks later they arrive back and settle into the second floor of the villa which has been made beautifully, courtesy of our interior designer, Boschi ✨

afterwards, upon Bellen’s request, with Aruji, Berrien and Shiro accompanying him, they visit the orphanage where they were raised. and he sees that almost nothing is left after the angel attack years ago. then he visits Espoir where he remarks that almost everything has changed.

the statue of Goetia also did not look like him at all. Berrien explains that after being damaged in the numerous attacks of angels and being rebuilt as a result, it no longer resembled Goetia anymore.

while they’re going down memory lane and nostalgia, the signature alarm rings, signaling the presence of angels. Shiro takes them down swiftly, despite having no prior battle experience with angels.

a little later, back at the mansion, Bellen is shown the key that is believed to have been owned by Goetia in the past. Bellen is revealed to not remember anything about it besides the fact that Goetia did own it. so their goal of finding what the key unlocked hits a dead end.

they also bring up the fact that they still don’t know anything about the basement floor of the facility owned by the Sardis (the “Prison of Calamity” where Lato was kept) and the mysterious door in it that’s made from the same material as the ancient towers.

Miyaji suggests that instead of focusing on that, they should instead find out more about the “traitor”. this is in regards to what Finlay suspects; that there may be someone leaking information (of the devil butlers to the angels. if you need more context about this, send me an ask! this is a bit of a long one since it’s not explained in this part but in the previous chapter.).

afterwards, they share light-hearted talk. Bellen decides that Berrien should keep his old spear (Bellen’s spear had been used by Berrien for the past 2000+ years as a way to remember him. when Berrien tried to return it, Bellen instead wanted Berrien to keep it with himself.). Bellen attempts to make Shiro closer to them as Shiro reiterated that he was only here to recover his compatriots from the angels—so to say he was using the butlers. Bellen responds brightly to this, saying that he should also do favours for the butlers in order to get their cooperation for this mission of his (Shiro’s). and then he invites him for a drink which Shiro does not respond to. after suggesting tea instead, Shiro says that he’ll think about it.

Boschi tells Aruji not to tell the rest of the butlers about the deal he made with Zaebos. Boschi’s fighting ability with his new prosthetic arm is back to his usual one!

Berrien questioned Belial about what his purpose was as he was kind of helping them in the case of Bellen; Belial also was not malevolent like the other demons. (he also had told them not to lump him with the rest of the demons as he wasn’t like them; he did not desire harm upon Berrien or Bellen.). in response, while he does affirm that he has another purpose, he refuses to reveal it.

Shiro tells Aruji (once again 😭) that he will only serve them if they’re worthy of it. he still speaks in that arrogant fashion of his.

there was this scene where Bellen finally meets Muu and he stares at Muu intently. Bellen remarks thoughtfully that it’s amazing cats had somehow evolved to be able to talk in the 2000+ years he’s been asleep 😭. when Aruji explains Muu is an exception, he admits that he doesn’t want to seem to surprised by everything as he would then seem to be unable to adapt to the current times and norms 😭😂

Gaap, Shiro’s demon, is a big white tiger. when summoned for the first time, he bowed to Shiro (probably out of respect). but of course, from what we’ve seen, none of the other demons ever did this. Shiro is also noted to have commanded him (authoritatively) and the demon obeyed.

Bellen’s cat ears only appear when he uses his demonic ability! (i predicted this in an ask almost a month ago, right at the time part 1 was updated lol ✨) i was spot on! he makes peace with the cat ears pretty quickly.

the prophecy said that there would be 20 butlers and 4 angels—meaning 2 new butlers and 1 intelligent angel have yet to appear.

I can’t find my post from a few years back about the crk fandom’s reaction to Affogato, but anyway, Peach Blossom just released and I’m here to make my Why Can’t the Cis CRK Fans be Normal About Gender Nonconforming Characters Part 2 post.

Seriously, what the fuck? I don’t think the reaction is as bad as with Affogato, but maybe it just looks that way to me because I’m not nearly as active in the fandom as I used to be.

Of course people are sexualizing him, disappointing but not surprising. Before he released, everyone seemed very insistent that he was evil/would pretend to be helpful but later be revealed to be working for Mystic Flour (which is funny in hindsight considering he turned out to be literally just some guy with 2 minutes of screentime). But their justification for why he was so obviously going to be evil was his feminine appearance, which like way to reveal your biases I guess.

I straight up saw one person say they knew he was going to be a trickster type character because of his “deceptive appearance.” What an absolutely unhinged thing to say. Please tell me y’all don’t say shit like this to real people. Imagine seeing a gnc person and going “you don’t look like what I think a person of your gender should look like, therefore you’re manipulative and a liar.”

There’s been a lot of trap jokes as well. Most of them seem to be ironic/self-aware so the people doing them don’t think there’s any harm. But it really doesn’t matter if you’re genuine or not, it still perpetuates a harmful mindset if the joke is the mere existence of gnc people, especially gnc men, being inherently deceptive/outrageous/confusing.
