I made a children's book!

Happy to announce that I've published my third book (and second children's book)! 'I Can Do Anything!' is a brief 20+ page story that follows Jaden as he wonders what he wants to be when he grows up. The book ends with a few coloring pages as well!

you know what really bothers me is that macmillian audio chose two white narrators to narrate nova and adrian in the renegade trilogy, two people of color. both rebecca soler and dan bittner are white. while i get that marissa meyer has probably a personal connection with soler (and soler does an amazing job with every book that she reads), but it’s really not that hard to pick two people of color narrators. like anne yatco, has narrated anime characters and is an actress or rebecca wang who is a voice actors. both are filipino-american voice actors. and then for adrian, brandon rubin who is jesper fahey’s voice in six of crows, and does an amazing job. or they could have had multiple narrators for the lunar chronicles including natalie naudus as cinder, ewan chung as kai, kamran r. khan for wolf, or gabrielle union for winter.

My new sci-fi, romance book series is about neurodivergent-coded characters with tails, animal ears and biology degrees exploring a wild, post-apocalyptic world. It has sex scenes that are tailor-made for each couple in each specific stage of their lives and the romances are feet-kicking adorable… and frustrating. The characters were designed to be OC fuel, a cosplayer’s dream and absolutely everyone is queer and/or POC because I’m not boring. Each chapter will have artwork drawn by the characters themselves and it also has a decodable secret alphabet.

You see my point, right? I’m marketing on Tumblr for a reason, I literally wrote this book for you.

Because I’m creatively stubborn, I’m self publishing and the first addition won’t be released until the second half of the year (because it’s being fully, professionally edited), so since you’re already EXCITED, you have to go follow my OFFICIAL series account so you can stay up-to-date and see all the artwork as it gets better and better!

Why the fuck can mlp fanfics give me chills these mfs write about colorful ponies in such dark and dramatic situations in a way that feels like it could be a real ass book that people praise or something

It's why some in some academic circles (and the books, films and documentaries made by them or by those that reference them for research) there is this push to speak about indigenous people as "gone" and frame everything about them as some bygone, missing, mystical, destroyed culture that they are working *oh so hard* to catalogue. Indigenous people are still very much here but if you acknowledge that you have to actually work on reconciliation, ask permission, go out and talk to people, apologize, return things, revise theories you made. For some academics (as well as anyone who loves to abuse history for their own political needs) it's a lot more handy for a culture to be dead so they can do what they want with it and frame it however they like and not have anyone contradict them.
