Do the antisemites that invaded the pro-palestinian movement know the origin of the word Palestine is from the Hebrew root פ.ל.ש, the root for the word invaders? Do they know it's based on Philistia, the name given to the region that's based after the Philistines? Do they know we don't actually know the actual name the Philistines called themselves, and that we called them that as an insult, because it's from the same root as invaders?

Like do you realise all this time the name of this land was "invaded" while we weren't here? When you try to claim Jews have no connection to the Levant do you realise what you're claiming? This is driving me insane.

I just hate the social media trend of cramming literalism into everything.

From mythology, to poetry, to fiction etc. People will just flat out refuse to engage with metaphors, hyperbole, figurative language, allegory etc.

I am just so so sick of it. Some of the greatest art and greatest aspect of art is being left on the floor because people refuse to tolerate polysemy.

Worst of all, they won’t even own up to the fact that it’s an aberrant personal decision to be literalist. They will flat out insist that, for example, mythology has always been interpreted literally, or alternatives to ‘said’ (like hissed, growled, sneered) are objectively confusing and bad, or they will say that themes superfluous to plot, or that visual metaphors in film are pure aesthetic filler, or they will say that good poetry can only be relatable and straightforward…

Like at what point do we get to call this thing what it is: philistinism, anti-artist consumerism, anti-intellectualism, a proud incuriosity and a reactionary distrust of ambiguity and the need to empathise.

Just so sick of this.

Of all the people to use the Darksaber she’s the only one we know of besides Tarre Vizsla himself to have training from a Jedi Knight. She spray-painted the main villain’s personal assassin while he was unconscious just to humiliate him. She’s the reason Wedge Antilles joined the rebellion. She defeated the Imperial governor of Mandalore. BOTH of them. Darth Vader deflected a blaster bolt into her face and she lived to tell the tale. She told an art historian she was smarter than him to his face and she was right. She literally created the symbol of the fucking Rebel Alliance. She’s gay, she’s asian, and she’s popular. She is truly one of the characters of all time.
