The double doors to the emergency room burst open with a team of paramedics meeting a team of nurses over the limp body that was being rushed in on a gurney.
"26-year-old male. One of many from the four-car pile-up on Highway 400. Blunt head trauma —shattered ribs, compound fractures in both legs. He's unconscious, showing premature signs of decline. We need to get him stabilized immediately."
"Prepare the operation room." One of the nurses orders and the chaos moves around the corner with the gurney.
A team of trauma surgeons and nurses worked frantically to stabilize him. He was quickly assessed for injuries, and diagnostic tests revealed the extent of the damage he had sustained
The man suffered from internal injuries, including a punctured lung and severe abdominal trauma. There was a point when doctors were sure he wouldn't make it but they were wrong.
After undergoing several surgeries in the first few days following the accident, including procedures to repair his fractured bones, remove damaged tissue, and stabilize his internal injuries he was beginning to show small signs of improvement.
However, it was only the beginning of a very long and hard journey for him.

"Where is she?" You stand up at the sight of your brother-in-law, Jin rushing into the waiting room of the labour and delivery wing. Face flushed and hair a bit frazzled. He'd obviously run here from the parking lot.
"Down the hall to your left. They're just running some tests and checking the baby." He pauses in his steps, letting it all sink in. Placing a hand on his chest as he tried to stabilize his breathing.
Taking the chance to place a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Everything is going to be okay, breathe." You encourage, taking tips from the Lamaze classes your sister had made the three of you take in preparation for this baby.
He smiles before making his way to his wife and out of sight.
Meanwhile, you stayed put in the waiting room as your sister made it very clear she did not want you in the room any time her vagina was out and you weren't going to argue.
Seeing that the doctors needed to check up on the baby once the two of you arrived no less than 15 minutes ago, you had already excused yourself to the hall.
Once you saw the familiar nurse you remember being assigned to your sister walk past you, you deemed it was safe enough to return to her room. Knocking first with your hand over your eyes.
There was soft laughter, "It's been put away, you can open your eyes." Eunji says, allowing you to lower your palm from your gaze to see Seokjin sitting on a chair nestled near Eunji's bedside.
"Wow, they've got you hooked up like a TV." You snort, pointing to the IV drip, pulse oximeter, and various other tubes taped to her arm.
Shaking her head at your typical Y/n-Antics but refusing to acknowledge your joke any further. "What did the nurse say?" Jin asks, almost anxiously, taking her hand in his.
"The baby is fine, she's healthy, but I'm a long way from giving birth. Apparently-" Eunji pauses, her eyes squeezing shut just as they did back at your place when the two of you discovered she'd been having contractions.
Taking deep breaths she opens her eyes and resumes speaking as if it never happened, "Apparently I'm only one centimeter dilated. I'm already tired of this place." She pouts sadly while Jin gently moves a stray hair from out of her face.
You sighed internally, hoping that one day you'd find that.
"I'm just glad you guys made it here safely. The roads are getting worse with that blizzard coming in tonight." Jin shares which prompts you to check your phone while the couple talks about what a normal couple would discuss at a time like this.
Jin was right. There in fact was a blizzard heading your way and it was nasty. Up to six feet of snow in some regions and harsh winds. It was practically impossible to see the road through all the flurries on your way here.
It was unsafe for anyone to be driving at a time like this hence why Eunji had already begged your parents to stay home until the roads were safe. No matter how much she knew your parents wanted to be present for the birth of their first grandchild it was just too dangerous.
This winter was packed with a punch this year. You can't forget the first major storm of the season about two months ago that blindsided everyone.
The severity of the storm dawns on you as you remember driving past a nasty collision on the highway on your way home from work.
You could only hope that this would be the end of the strenuous icy season and that spring would be just around the corner. You were looking forward to the blossoming season of spring but not as much as you were looking forward to holding your niece in your arms in just a few short hours.
𓆩♡𓆪
Clearly, you and your niece weren't on the same page.
It's been 4 hours and the hospital was on lockdown, any visitors in the building were forbidden from leaving due to the severity of the storm outside. Honestly, some part of you believed you would have been able to hold your niece and go home all in the last three hours, but oh how you were wrong.
"What do you mean you're only 3 centimetres along?" You say, exhausted from waiting. "Oh, I'm sorry Y/n, are you tired? How inconsiderate of me!" She exclaims, clearly annoyed with you.
You dropped your shoulders, you deserved that. Eunji had been battling her contractions restlessly for hours on end, you couldn't imagine how she felt.
"Do you want me to get you anything?" She shakes her head while Jin returns with a full cup of ice for her to chew on. Your stomach rumbles, and not quietly.
"You should go down to the cafeteria and get something to eat. I'll stay with Eunji." Jin offers and you nod, deciding it was time for a break anyway.
With your bag slung over your shoulder, you stood in the café line, unsure what to get before deciding to get a typical iced coffee and a turkey sandwich.
Once it came time to find a spot, your eyes were scanning every nook and cranny of the filled cafeteria due to the overwhelming number of people trapped in this building just as you were.
Finally, you found one available spot, at an occupied table. "Is anyone sitting here?" You ask the man who was enjoying his own coffee. "It's all yours," He smiles and you reciprocate it as you take a seat.
Paying him no mind as you bite into your meal and pull out the book you've been reading over the last few weeks.
"The String of Fate," The man across from you mumbles as he reads the title of your book causing your eyes to flicker to his. "What's it about?" You close the book almost too eagerly.
"Do you believe in soulmates?" He blinks at you.
"Y'know, like two people that are destined to be together no matter the time or place." His brow arches. "Not a chance." You frown, "Well, basically this book explains the concept of soulmates and how they're connected by this invisible string between them that will always guide them back to each other. No matter the time or place."
He sighs heavily, head now resting on his hand. "I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here and assume that you believe in soulmates?"
"What's there not to believe? It makes total sense-" You ask, about to take your first bite of your sandwich. "I wouldn't eat that if I were you," He says quickly, and you close your mouth, placing the sandwich back down.
"Why not?" He simply stares at you, "Trust me. I've been here long enough to know." You nod slowly, "You must visit a lot."
With a shrug of his shoulders, he finishes the last of his coffee, "Something like that." He mumbles.
Your stomach reminds you of the hunger you'd just permitted to exist longer all in the name of this handsome stranger you'd just met. "So what can I eat here?"
He grins and your stomach twists.
"Follow me." You pack up your stuff and stand. Unable to process your thoughts once the man moves away from the table in his wheelchair.
"Oh c'mon, don't give me that look." He sighs.
"What look?" You counter, genuinely confused.
"That look of 'oh my gosh, he's in a wheelchair. Now everything is different.'" He says in a slightly raised tone.
"First of all, I didn't think that at all. I was just shocked." He looked almost deflated until you spoke up, "So are we still getting jello or what?" He smiles, leading the way.
-
"Hey! Hey! Mister Lightning McQueen, do you mind slowing down a bit? Or at least tell me your name so I don't have to keep yelling mister." You pant, finally catching up to him at the end of the hall.
"Sorry." He flushes a light pink before a quick clearing of his throat, "I'm Jungkook." He stretches his hand and you shake it gently, "Y/n." You say, the two of you hold hands a little longer than necessary before a visitor attempts to get by and you pull your hand away first.
Fast forward to the two of you sitting on the chairs in god knows which wing of the hospital, the building was so damn big. Licking the spoons of your delicious cherry jello as you were both facing the window that looked out into the midnight sky.
"So what brings you here tonight?" He asks as he scoops around his cup for another spoonful. "My sister is giving birth. At least that's what I thought was supposed to happen but the baby doesn't want to come yet." He laughs, "That's amazing. Not the part about the baby holding your sister's womb hostage but- you know what I'm trying to say."
Unable to control your laughter at his bizarre wording, "Yeah, I get it." A silence falls between the two of you, sitting on your shoulders. You wanted to say something but you weren't sure- "It's okay, Y/n. You can ask." He speaks without even looking at you. Focused on getting his next spoon of jello.
"How did you end up here?" You ask and Jungkook begins the age-old story. He was coming home from work during that crazy storm 2 months ago. He said he didn't remember much from the actual accident, one second he's in his lane and the next there's an eighteen-wheeler sliding right into him and dragging two others in with him.
"I don't even remember being rushed in here, I just remember waking up 3 days later and the doctors telling me I was lucky to be alive. Telling me I had basically injured every bone I had. Head trauma, shattered ribs, a punctured lung, fractured both my legs- and the list goes on."
Your jaw falls open. Hand raising to cover your mouth for two reasons.
"You really are lucky to be alive."
It seems that Jungkook disagrees, "Yet I don't feel all that lucky. I wake up to the same faces, getting poked at and pricked every hour. Going to rehab every other day, my body hurts constantly. I can't even count how many painkillers and antibiotics I take every morning." You frown.
"I'm grateful to be making progress of course, but sometimes It feels like the world is passing me by while I'm standing still-- or sitting, for that matter.." You'd never connected to anything more.
"I totally understand. Under different circumstances of course, but I think I get what you mean. Ever since I was 7 I'd had this perfect vision of how my life should be by the time I was 25. A nice house, with a loving husband and maybe a baby on the way with my six-figure paying job but here I am, 26, sitting in a waiting room, single, waiting for my sister to have a baby so that I can go home to my office job that sure as hell doesn't pay enough for a nice house."
Your story provokes a soft chuckle to come rumbling from Jungkook's chest and you swat at him. "And it's like, you want to take steps forward but it's almost like you can't because everything is out of your control. The most decisive factor of a good life is controlled by everyone but you. It sucks." Jungkook expands on your thoughts further and you'd never felt so seen before.
"I-" You begin but the PA system begins to blare someone's voice as they make an announcement.
"Code Yellow. Code Yellow." Jungkook's vision darts to his wristwatch. "Shit. It's been an hour already?" You weren't following, "What's going on?" Jungkook begins to roll back, tossing away his garbage in the bin while you stand and do the same.
"Code yellow is just their dramatic way of declaring a patient is missing. Although-" His eyes fly past you and to whoever was behind you, it was a furious nurse. "Jeon Jungkook." She says and he groans, "I know- I know."
Jungkook hardly got to speak before he was being pushed away back to wherever his room was. "I hope your sister has a safe delivery." You stand still in the middle of the hall as you watch Jungkook get whisked out of sight.
Unable to stop thinking about how disappointed he looked once that nurse appeared. Clearly, he didn't want to go back. You couldn't shake what he told you, about seeing the same people every day, following the same painful routine.
You wondered if he had any family that visited him.
Speaking of which, it was time for you to return to your own.
𓆩♡𓆪
7 hours later you were finally holding the most perfect baby girl in your arms. "She's beautiful, Eunji," you say tearfully, staring at the adorable infant who was just so tiny in your arms.
"I can't believe I'm holding your baby right now." You say to no one in particular while Seokjin stands behind you looking down at the baby, he looks like he's still in awe himself.
Carefully passing her back into your sister's tired arms. You had the honour of taking their first family photo. With Seokjin's eyes full of love and your sister displaying the happiest smile you'd ever seen.
"She's perfect." You hear him whisper with a kiss to Eunji's forehead and your heart just about melts at the heartwarming sight.
𓆩♡𓆪 7 days later
The moment that you left that hospital that morning you felt almost... sad? Like you had a happiness hangover. You were truly overjoyed, you finally got to meet your niece and you met Jungkook who left an unanticipated imprint on your brain.
You tapped your nails against the desk in your cubicle, your bottom lip tucked between your teeth as your eyes glanced at the time at the bottom of the computer screen.
Your break was in 20 minutes, you had an hour to do whatever and sure, you could spend it here continuing your work so that you could go home earlier...but the hospital is nearby...
No more than a 10-minute drive.. maybe you could drop by? Just for a little?
You didn't leave yourself much time to debate it as you were already marching out of the office the moment the clock hit 12. You'd decided to pick up some flowers from the gift shop on your way up.
Following the receptionist's instructions that she gave you to locate his room with a nervous click of your heels with each step. What if he didn't want to see you? Does he even remember you?
You saw him through the glass window briefly and adjusted yourself to an angle where he couldn't see you. He was just laying there. Staring up at the ceiling, but he sat up once a nurse walked in.
It seemed that she was doing some routine checkups before pricking him with a needle of some kind. You'd always been the type to squirm with needles yet he was unfazed, it was like he couldn't even feel it.
Once she left she passed you with a small smile. Slowly you walk to the door and his gaze slowly drags towards you. His eyes smile before his lips, and he sits up.
"Y/n!" He says with such a joyful tone, you would never expect the voice to belong to someone sitting in a hospital bed. "Hi," You say, unsure of what to do with the flowers.
"Don't tell me you're still waiting for your sister to give birth." He says with a little sarcasm and you laugh with a shake of your head. "No, little miss Seol-a came fashionably late."
"As in 'snow child'? That's a perfect name." You agree. Watching him as his gaze drops to your arms. "Oh- These are for you." Bringing the small bouquet of tiger lilies to him, he accepts it gratefully.
"Thank you-- Really, you didn't have to. You visiting me is more than enough of a gift, and they're Tiger Lilies, too. Fun fact, that's actually my birth flower." It was like a lightbulb had gone off in your head but you ignored it.
Maybe that was just a coincidence, but you didn't like that word. You preferred to use something much stronger, that starts with an 'F', and ends with an 'ate'.
"Pull up a chair, please. I don't want to be the only one sitting." He insists, gesturing to the chair near the wall and you bring it a bit closer.
Letting out a soft sigh of relief once you were off your feet, "God, I hate heels." You mutter, "I'm guessing you have to wear them for that magical job of yours," Your face turns sour, "Magic isn't the word I'd use to describe it,"
Just like that the two of you fell down a rabbit hole of conversation, exchanging work experiences and even phone numbers at one point.
"So tell me, Y/n. In a perfect world, if you could just drop everything, what would you do?" You pretended to give it thought as if you hadn't known for the last decade. "I'd want to open a hair salon... Is that crazy? I don't think I've ever actually said that out loud before."
"What's stopping you?" You laugh, a little too hard, thinking of the dozens of reasons why it wasn't practical and way too impulsive but the longer you looked at his neutral expression you began to reflect on the reasons.
And they all came back to the same root, "What if I fail?" He shrugs, "You can't fail unless you give up." You couldn't believe you were actually considering this. Shaking your head dramatically, clearing your brain.
"You're such a bad influence, y'know? I can't believe you really almost made me do that." His bunny-like smile is on display when he speaks, "That wasn't me, that was your instinct. For a brief second, you just listened to your heart."
Woah.
"Wanna see something cool?" His hand raises and gestures to his lower body, and you watch as the blankets begin to stretch over the small peak that began to form under the covers as he bends his left knee slightly.
"Jungkook! That's incredible." You gasped, eyes wide and you weren't sure what came over you, but before you knew it you'd taken him in your arms.
His body was still a bit weak but his arms responded almost immediately. Holding you still for the short duration of the hug before you pulled away.
"Are you okay- I'm sorry, did I hurt you-" A small panic consumes you as Jungkook's eyes tint a faint red and well with tears. "No, no. You didn't do anything wrong. It's just been so long since someone's been so happy for me."
His words weighed down in your chest like a pile of bricks. "Does no one visit you?"
"All my friends and family came to visit right after the accident. Then it was just my best friends and my parents who came a few times a week. Soon people don't have time to visit someone who makes such little progress every day."
He continues to explain, "But I don't hold it against them. It's a time commitment. The real world is more demanding than I am and I just can't wait for the day I get to meet them out there."
Gently placing your hand on top of his, "You're gonna be out of here before you know it-" A familiar ringer goes off in your bag. You pull out your phone and stop the alarm. "Well, my break ends soon." You stand and you tell yourself that you're imagining the small frown peels over his lips.
Putting the chair back where you found it you walk to the door. "Bye Jungkook, it was good to see you again." With that, you walk away and Jungkook is left in despair. That was it? It's over?
You were just gonna walk into his room and bless him with the most revitalizing conversation he's ever had and you're leaving?
Before he gets the chance to deflate into his pillows your head pops back into the doorframe, "See you tomorrow." You wink and vanish once again. Knowing that you'd given him a little wave of sadness at first.
His shoulders shake with laughter, relieved.
𓆩♡𓆪
Staying true to your word, you in fact did go back to visit him the next day, except you went after your shift since 40 minutes simply wasn't enough time.
For the first few weeks of your daily visits, Jungkook was afraid that one day you would stop coming and he wouldn't see you again, but once three months had passed, there was no doubt in his mind he would walk out of this hospital without you by his side.
You'd even met his parents once, by accident of course. You were just leaving when they'd been walking in and of course, they had no idea who you were.
Telling them about how the two of you met was quite entertaining, Accidentally mentioning the part where Jungkook had been called a missing patient which earned him a soft pinch to his arm from his mother.
But you'll never forget the words his mother whispered in your ear as she hugged you. "Thank you for loving my son." Your cheeks flushed and you stuttered, trying to clarify things but she didn't want to hear it.
"It's okay, I know." She says with the most subtle of winks before walking off with her husband who shook your hand graciously.
Not every day was full of laughs and feasts that you'd bring him from the outside world, there were definitely down days. Days when the pain would call for a stronger dose of his medications which left him burnt out and groggy.
But there were also good days like today. You had the honour of helping Jungkook take some of his first steps for a few feet before being right behind him with the wheelchair.
You weren't able to stop your tears while Jungkook apologized to the physical therapist for your constant crying. You cried every time you saw him move on his own, but he thinks it's cute.
It's evident how much you care about him. By now your entire family knew about your blossomed friendship, and it seems he was all you could talk about. He could only hope that you knew how much he cared about you.
He would love to surprise you at work one day with lunch or take you to your favourite places. Alas, that was among the list of things he unfortunately couldn't control but promised to do once he got out.
He had a section of notes dedicated to you and all the places he would take you, it's what he always hid against his chest anytime you tried peaking.
-
"You won't believe what I just did!" Those are the first words that escape your mouth in the most dramatic of ways as you practically burst into his room.
He jolts, his book now falling forgotten from his fingers, you'd startled him and you apologized. You weren't usually here at noon. So he welcomes your explanation with a warm smile and curious eyes.
"So I went to work this morning, and they called us all in for a meeting. I was expecting another spontaneous workshop about professional behaviour or something. They drop this huge bomb on us that the company is downsizing so they're laying off a third of the company and basically cutting everyone's salary in half." It all comes out in a single breath, so you give yourself some time to breathe.
Jungkook wasn't following, "This sounds like... bad news? Am I missing something? Why do you look so happy?"
"Because I quit my job. I've been thinking about what you said for a while now, about following my heart, and I think I've always been waiting for some kind of sign or opportunity to just go for it, so today was the day." Now that you'd finally gotten the jitters out, you pulled up a chair.
"I know it's crazy, I don't know what I was thinking, but I just got off the phone with one of the property managers of those empty studios downtown and it was all so exciting and I don't even know where I'm going to get the money but I think I can-"
Jungkook finally silenced you with his lips.
He kissed you.
His lips were soft as they worked against yours. You could feel him smile as the kiss deepened. You moved out of your chair to the bed without breaking contact. Pulling away briefly for air but resuming as though you couldn't be apart for more than a second.
You weren't sure when you'd ended up on top of him with Jungkook on his back and your hips grinding down onto his softly, still a bit cautious.
"You have-" He kisses down your neck, peppering kisses between his words, "-No idea-" His lips kissing right below your ear, "-How long I've wanted to kiss you." His teeth gently nibble on the skin of your ear causing a whine to escape your lips.
Suddenly there was a fast beeping and it was only getting faster.
A nurse walks in and you just about throw yourself off of Jungkook and onto the ground. "What's going on in here? Your heart rate was way too fast, Mr. Jeon." He bites his lip nervously while you get yourself on your feet.
"Sorry, Nurse Lynn. I was just trying some new exercises and I guess I got a bit carried away." He says the last part with a lustful look in his eye when he glances towards you.
Once she left you let your hand cover your mouth in pure shock, laughing uncontrollably. "Oh my god, I can't believe that just happened." Jungkook throws his head back onto the pillows with a heavy breath.
"Those nurses can't let me have shit in here. I can't even rub one out in the shower without them barging in." Your jaw drops, "It's happened more times than I'd like to speak about." The shame that seems to swallow him up makes you laugh even harder.
-
"How's the salon going?" He's the first to ask you once you walk out of the bathroom and your shoulders drop. Taking a seat beside him on the bed, "It's a lot harder than I thought it would be. My contractor is being a total pain in the ass, but at least it's starting to come together, look-"
You swipe through the photos of the empty studio that was now painted. "I can't wait to see it." He says, and you look away from the screen. Focusing on his beautiful brown eyes. "Me too." He steals a sweet kiss from you before resuming his swipe through your phone with a cheeky grin.
For the first time, you noticed how empty his left arm was compared to his right. His right arm was covered in tattoos that the two of you had spent nearly an hour talking about once, while his left arm was blank.
"Why don't you have any tattoos on your left arm?" He places down your phone, making eye contact with you once again. "I wanna save it for something special, something meaningful, like the Batman symbol." His nerdy remark makes you snort.
𓆩♡𓆪
"Hi Jungko-Oh." This was unusual.
Of all the times you'd visited Jungkook, there was probably only one other time where you'd caught him sleeping, although that was a late night. It was only sometime around 3 in the afternoon.
You didn't want to disturb him, so you left him a little sticky note for him to read when he wakes up. You didn't want him to think that you never came.
The following day the two of you were having a bit of a hard time getting Jungkook out of bed. "I thought you wanted to do some more walking?" You offer, standing with his walker but he laid back unmotivated.
"Not today, maybe another day. I'm just a bit tired." He mumbles and you nod, "Oh. Okay." But your heart wasn't settled, something was wrong.
The week continued with his slow responses and fatigue. "Are you okay?" He hums, his eyes shutting tight as he grunts softly. "Yeah, just got a bit of a headache, that's all. I'll be better by tomorrow." He reassures you, and you insist on getting him some water.
"Nurse Lynn." You call out for the Nurse as you cross paths as you return from refilling Jungkook's water bottle. She stops and begins to approach you. "Jungkook has been acting a bit off lately. He's been really tired and he says he has a headache and I just want to know if anything is going on."
You can see that she really begins to think about anything it could be. You follow her as she goes off to check his charts. Looking through the window, Jungkook had already fallen asleep.
"His numbers seem to be fine, but we'll keep a close eye on them tonight and run some tests in the morning." Leaving you with a reassuring hand on your shoulder, but you still didn't feel any better.
You went home to your parents' house. You'd moved back home after impulsively quitting your job since there was no way you'd be able to afford your old apartment anymore. Besides, this arrangement made the most sense.
Now you were able to save your money and focus on your salon. The salon Jungkook had inspired you to open, god you couldn't stop thinking about him. Something felt off.
"Y/n?" Your dad snaps his fingers in front of you, finally catching your attention. "Sorry- What?"
"Your mom and I were wondering if you'd be joining us for dinner or if you already ate." You shake your head slowly, "It's okay, I'm not hungry."
"Is everything okay?'' Your stretches her neck from where she sat on the couch. "I don't know. Jungkook's been acting off lately and I just don't know if everything is okay." Anyone who heard you could hear the worry that wavered in your tone. You wanted nothing more than for him to be okay.
"Oh, honey." Your parents hugged you and for a moment you felt like everything was going to be okay.
Until it wasn't.
-
It was around 2 in the morning when you'd gotten a call from Jungkook's mom.
He'd gone into a coma.
You didn't find yourself to be a religious person yet you found yourself praying to any god in the sky who was listening as you drove to the hospital that he would be okay.
Running through the halls, letting out careless apologies to those you nearly bumped into as you did so. "What happened?!" You say frantically, his mother was in no state to speak, her eyes were bloodshot and her lips quivered whenever she tried to speak.
Instead, his father took on the role to tell you, "The doctors said there were unforeseen complications from his accident. There was some inflammation in his brain that went undetected and was applying pressure to his brain stem which is why he was experiencing those headaches and fatigue. They've done all they can to reduce the swelling, but there's no guarantee he'll-"
His dad struggles to finish his sentence, choking up a bit himself at the possibility of Jungkook never waking up. "C-Can I see him?" You swallow back your tears and that sore feeling in your throat as you walk in slowly.
You didn't want to cry, but the moment you saw him hooked up to all those machines, the same ones he hated so much, the way his body lay so still, it broke you.
Your cries came out more as wails than anything else, you couldn't say anything but his name. You weren't just crying, you were begging, pleading with the gods to spare him.
"Y/n-" You hear his dad's voice behind you, catching you in his arms just as you fall to your knees. He could have never anticipated a reaction quite like this one. It seems he underestimated how much Jungkook meant to you.
Now he knows.
All his friends and family knew.
As they trickled in and out of Jungkook's hospital room over the following weeks they would see you sitting by his side, the same way you did all the days before.
His mom liked to say you were there more than Jungkook was. She knew he was lucky, he'd found something special with you. A kind of love that was rare to come across these days.
You spent every waking moment beside him until visiting hours were over, and would be back the next morning the moment they begin. Your parents told you to keep yourself busy with your salon and you tried, but how could you when everything inside reminded you of him?
Today was a quiet day, with no visitors or flowers for you to find space for as his room was filled. You focused on reading to him. You'd been told that hearing familiar voices can help to stimulate brain activity and you were willing to do anything.
"As Batman ran through the dark streets of Gotham-" You chuckled to yourself, unable to take the story seriously.
According to his parents, this was his favourite comic book growing up, and you'd been reading it to him for the last few days, and yet you still weren't interested in DC.
You rummaged through the bag of books you had on the side, your fingertips grasped the familiar cover that started it all. "The String of Fate" You mumble, a soft smile as the title takes you back to the night you met.
Back then he was nothing more than an opinionated patient on the loose, and now, he was everything.
You opened the book, going back to the page you'd bookmarked as a favourite. Deciding to read it out loud for the sake of Jungkook hearing your voice.
"In the garden of destiny, soulmates blossom, each petal a reflection of the other's beauty, each leaf a testament to their shared growth. Together, they tend to the soil of their dreams, nurturing them with the water of their love, as they chase the sunsets of tomorrow, hand in hand, forever intertwined."
Your voice began to shake halfway through, and your tears landed on every other word. You closed the book, placing it back in the bag so that you could take Jungkook's hands in yours.
"Please," You whispered, "I love you."
It was no surprise to anyone. You had nothing but love for the man who changed your world for the better. He had no idea how much space he takes up in your head, your heart. It's his, it belongs to him.
"Can we come in?" There are soft knocks on the door and you're pleasantly surprised to see Jin and your sister, assuming the baby was with your parents.
"Thank you for coming," You hug them both, "If there's someone important enough that you went MIA during my labour, then I have to meet him." Eunji says jokingly and you smile sadly, "I just wish you got to meet under better circumstances."
The days turned to night then day once again, and the pattern continued endlessly for the following month. It just continued to repeat in this painful process of dwindling hope.
Nothing could have prepared you for the devastating conversation with the doctor this morning.
"Please understand, during this difficult time, we have carefully monitored Jungkook's minimal brain activity. Given the duration of his coma and after our intensive examination of his condition, if there were indications for a potential recovery leading to him waking up, we would have observed signs by now. I know this news is incredibly challenging to hear but-"
His mother wept.
"We're so sorry." The doctor says as if it was rehearsed, you couldn't imagine how many times he'd had to give such gut-wrenching news to other families.
You listened with a broken heart, unable to cry. You were all out of tears. You'd cried and cried your heart out all month, you couldn't bear the thought of it all being for such a tragic conclusion.
-
That was almost a week ago, you'd remained by Jungkook's side regardless. Never leaving, not moving.
"Y/n, Honey. You've been here all day, when's the last time you ate something, hm?" His mom gently tilted your chin upwards, you looked pale in colour and your eyes were dull with sorrow.
"I don't know, Tuesday maybe?"
It's Thursday night.
"Go." She orders, and you know that tone. She wasn't willing to negotiate this with you. She'd begun to care for you like a daughter of her own, and as much as she respected and adored your dedication to her son, it was just as important that you were healthy.
Still following Jungkook's advice, you avoided most of the shops in the cafeteria except for a select few that he deemed sanitary. Sitting at one of the tables by yourself, you poked at your food, not all that hungry but you took bites anyway.
Taking a long sip from your water bottle you ignored the buzzing from your phone. You're sure it's just the contractors giving you a hard time again. You were set to open in a few months from now and you'd never felt more grateful for your mom stepping in to help while you were.. away.
Your phone buzzes once more, you finally check the messages.
Ever since that night, every time Mrs. Jeon messaged you, it left you with a pit in your stomach, quite like the one in your stomach right now.
She was calling you back to Jungkook's room immediately.
Completely abandoning your half-eaten meal on the table as you rushed back up to the room you'd begun to know like the back of your hand.
There his parents were, teary-eyed as they sat outside his room, making calls and texting loved ones. Soon you saw a team of nurses walking out of his room with some medical technology that you're sure had very complicated names and--
Oh no.
Your brain was putting the pieces together. What was once a pit had evolved into a full-fledged sinkhole. Your hands were shaking as you walked into the room, eyes landing on his body, not expecting to meet his familiar brown orbs.
They blinked at you slowly. Just like the first time you'd visited, they smiled before his lips did. "There she is," His voice was weak, understandably but it still had that softness to it.
Your body was overwhelmed and unable to make any coherent sounds. You were standing still as a statue. You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth to stop your lips from quivering but you couldn't stop it.
Your breathing became shallow and the sound of your heart drumming in your ears seemed much louder than it did a minute ago. You felt like your eyes were playing tricks on you.
"Is it-" Your voice airy and broken, not wanting this to be a dream. You so desperately needed this to be real. He nods slowly with a grin, "It's me." Just when you thought you had no more tears left, there were more spilling down your cheeks.
Finally picking up your feet and walking over to him with broken sobs, meeting him at the side of the bed. On your knees with his arms around you while you held him in yours. "I thought I lost you." You swat him with teary eyes and a small laugh.
"You can never lose me, Y/n, and I want to make sure of that." He says, and your head tilts instinctively. "What do you mean?"
"Marry me."
Eyes wide and your mouth nearly kissing the floor.
"You can't be serious," Oh how you hoped he was serious.
"You've been by my side every step of the way. When I walk through those hospital doors one last time, I want to be beside the woman I love. Let me spend the rest of my life making you as happy as you've made me." Now he was the one getting misty eyes.
Your mouth struggled to keep up with the eager nodding of your head. "Yes." Holding his face in your hands and kissing him like you'd longed to do for weeks.
Finally.
"Wait- You don't have a ring," Jungkook leans slightly for the box of band-aids on the side table. "Jungkook, I don't need-'' Your efforts go in vain as he shushes you kindly, taping the band-aid around your ring finer.
"It's symbolic for now until I can get you the real thing."
-
Nothing could have prepared you for the busy year ahead of you. Between visiting Jungkook, opening a salon and planning a wedding things were beginning to get chaotic but it all seemed to fade in importance once Jungkook finally got to go home.
And you were right, he was home just in time for Thanksgiving, and he had a lot to be thankful for. He made that clear during his speech at your parents' annual Thanksgiving dinner.
The fact he was able to stand for it was reason enough. Although he wasn't able to walk far distances, he was improving every day, and it just warmed your heart.
Your speech wasn't nearly as tear-jerking as Jungkook's was, but you still had a lot to be grateful for. Just looking around the table from where you stood, smiling at your parents, your sister with Jin and Seol-a, Jungkook's parents, and Jungkook, of course.
Everything you ever wanted was right in front of you.
Keeping your speech short and sweet, "And I know she's grateful for that huge rock on her finger." Eunji whispers loudly causing the table to erupt in a fit of giggles, the tips of your ears turn red as you smile shyly.
From Thanksgiving to the opening day of your Salon. Staring up to look at your name written out in a cursive font across the top of the building you were in awe. "Pinch me," you mutter sarcastically, not expecting Jungkook to actually pinch you.
With a pout you rubbed the pink mark he left on your arm as the two of you walked into the moderately busy salon. Your mom had sent out flyers and emails about the opening day all season.
You wouldn't have been able to do it without her.
"I'm so proud of you," Jungkook whispers and you turn to face him with the look of a puppy. "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you," He shakes his head, "I didn't do anything. This was all you, all you had to do was listen to your heart." Giving him one of those upside-down smiles you wrap your arms around him, talking into his chest.
"I can't wait to marry you."
Before you knew it, the wait was over.
Today is the day.
You could only stress about one day so much, you'd gone over every last detail down to the very inch and you were sure it was going to be perfect, after all, you'd had it all planned out in your head since you were 7 and Jungkook was more than happy oblige, 'as long as I get to marry you', he would say.
Your wedding was beautiful, it left your guests breathless the moment they entered the venue and the ceremony hadn't even begun yet.
Your wedding had its own special and heartfelt twist to it. Instead of Jungkook standing ready at the altar, he had the honour of picking a heartfelt song to walk down the aisle to with no arm crutches or wheelchair to support him. Nothing but his parents on either side holding one of his arms.
Some of the audience cheered while some let their tears fall quietly, knowing how far Jungkook had come to get to this point. Once he made it to the front, his best man, Jimin, handed him his arm crutches once again.
Soon the rest of the bridal party had made their way down the aisle, prompting the audience to stand. All heads turned to the grand double doors that soon opened as a romantic instrumental of "Look After You" began to play.
Jungkook could hardly see you from the distance he was standing but just knowing that you were walking towards him had him choking up already.
By the time he really could see you, he couldn't. His eyes are cloudy with tears until Jimin hands him his pocket square to wipe his eyes. Blinking the rest of his tears away, he smiles at you.
You looked beautiful.
Like God's most perfect creation sent down from heaven. There you were, smiling back at him with those angel eyes of yours. It would be a lie to say you didn't want to cry but the last thing you wanted was to ruin your makeup.
However, you weren't so strong when it came time to listen to Jungkook's vows after just finishing yours.
"You once asked me if I believed in soulmates, and I remember saying it was a load of crap. I had no idea they were sitting right in front of me. Your unconditional and unchanging demonstration of love has completely changed me from the inside out. Through you, I breathe again, and for you, my heart beats. Today, I give you more than just my word. I give you mind, I give you my soul, my everything. I pray from this day forward we will chase the sunsets of tomorrow, hand in hand, forever."
The last part he recites from the passage of your book you'd read to him while he was still unconscious. Your makeup is now a victim to the stream of hot, salty tears that flowed from your eyes, "You heard me." You say just loud enough for only him to hear you. He smiles. "I heard you."
With no more tears and the unravelling of a touching ceremony,
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
This was it. The moment Jungkook had been anticipating for months. Unclipping himself from the crutches around his arms, he hands them to Jimin.
He stretches out his arms dramatically, pretending to crack his neck.
Carefully taking your face in his hands, knowing how important it was to you that he didn't smudge anything, but your lipstick was going to need some reapplication after the way he pivoted and swooped you down for the most passionate of kisses.
The kind where your leg raises in the air while the photographer gets the money shot, capturing the bright smiles all around.
As if it was possible, the reception was even better than the ceremony. The toasts were both funny and touching. All eyes were on the happy couple who sat at their special table on the elevated platform for all to see.
Unable to hear what was being said but they could only assume it was something heartfelt based on the way your hands had clasped over your mouth.
Jungkook had just rolled up the sleeve of his left arm, showing you a new tattoo that you'd never seen. It was a delicate dark vine that wrapped around his forearm, with blossoming flowers, encircling the words 'Garden of Destiny', just like from your book.
"Are those-" You point to the types of flowers, "Tiger Lilies and Cosmos, your birth flower? Yeah." You pout, "Please don't cry, you'll be so upset if you ruin your makeup." He gently moves a loose strand of your hair from your face with the same hand you'd just been examining, and that's when it hits you.
"It's on your left arm." He grins,
"Of course it is."

Never Grow Up

Cruel Summer Masterlist
Lyanna's pregnancy & Julia's birth
Don’t you ever grow up, just stay this little
Lyanna’s pregnancy had to be carefully monitored considering her medical background, something Charles was stressing out about. Whenever he was not around (and feeling guilty about that) he was making sure Lyanna was never alone. And when he was there, he was not leaving her side. Whenever he could, he attended the medical appointments and asking questions after questions to the point that, fed up about Charles, Lyanna’s doctor ended up giving him a list of books that could help him understand everything a bit better.
That’s how, one day of February, as Lyanna was laying on the couch, her laptop on her lap, looking at furniture for the baby room, she heard Charles coming back from running errands, a huge shopping bag with him.
“What are you up to?” she asked him suspiciously.
“I went to the bookstore. I bought the books the doc recommended us. Twice, one for you and one for me.”
Lyanna closed her laptop, stood up and went to him to see how crazy Charles had become. She took a book, flipped the pages before reading the back cover. She did the same, silently, with a few of them before turning to her fiancé.
“You know that most of these say more or less the same thing, you didn’t have to buy all the books from the list.”
“I just want to be prepared.”
“You are Charles. But it’s very thoughtful and cute to see you so invested.”
“I feel guilty to know that the season starts just when you are going to need me the most.”
“Hey, I’m coming with you. At least for the first races, the doc said it was fine for me to take the plane and be with you until the eighth month. You still have three months to enjoy me, all to yourself.”
“Still, I’m not 100% sure it’s a good idea…”
“I’ll be okay. And we have the medical team on tracks so if something happens, I’ll be well taken care of.” she stood on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek as Charles’ hand found its way to her growing belly.
“It’s tomorrow.”
“Excited?”
“I can’t wait to know. I made a bet with Pierre about the gender. He thinks it’s a girl and I told him I was sure it was a boy.”
“Charles Leclerc, how dare you betting on our baby?”
“It’s just… I feel it you know. It’s a baby boy.” he whispered, looking at her in the eyes.
The next morning they were sitting comfortably in the doctor’s waiting room. Charles’s right leg was bouncing as his hands gripped firmly on Lyanna’s. When finally it was time for them, Charles was the first to enter the room to greet the doctor and asked her a few questions about things he had read and needed a few explanations. Lyanna playfully rolled her eyes as she forced Charles to sit down.
“Don’t worry, I’ve seen my fair share of stressed future dads. He is not the first and won’t be the last. How are you feeling, Lyanna.”
“She feels tired but I make sure she eats all the vitamins and take her complements. I bought some that were recommended in your books.”
“Charles, baby, I’m perfectly capable to answer the questions on my own. But yeah, tired but my legs are starting to hurt from time to time. My back too.”
“That’s classic symptoms, nothing weird or that we need to worry about.”
“I heard that the fifth month was critical and most doctors were scared of a premature delivery. How worried should we be?” asked Charles.
“There is no risk zero, obviously, but that’s part of the reason why Lyanna’s pregnancy is so carefully monitored and why I see her more than my usual patients. But for now, she has never given a reason for us to be worried more than necessary.”
“Do you hear the doc, Charles? I’m okay.”
A few minutes later, as the doctor was examining Lyanna, the future parents had their eyes on the small screen of the monitor, trying to guess the gender.
“So, ready?” asked the doctor.
“More than ready.”
“Well, congratulations, you are going to have a little girl!”
Lyanna turned immediately her head to Charles, waiting for his reaction. His eyes were fixed on the screen, trying to process the information.
“A baby girl? We are having a baby girl.”he finally looked at Lyanna with tears in his eyes.
“I hope you are not disappointed, I know how much you wanted a boy.”
“I don’t care Lya, I just want a healthy baby that’s all. I’m happy. Thank you.” he kissed her forehead.
“I didn’t do all the job, alone. You’re 50% responsible.”
“I guess I owe Pierre 150€ now.”
Lyanna’s last months of her pregnancy went relatively well. Charles was away a lot but always tried to FaceTime her whenever he could. He felt guilty to prioritise his career over her but Lyanna insisted it was fine, that she understood and that she was surrounded by people she trusted and loved. She talked a lot to Kat, Max’s girlfriend who gave birth to a boy named Ethan a little over two months ago. Her advice helped Lyanna a lot and she was probably the only person that could understand exactly what Lyanna and Charles were going through.
May and the Monaco Grand Prix arrived quickly and with it a lot of pressure from the outside. Finishing in P2 last year, Charles really wanted to win this time. Lyanna could not attend but promised him to watch him on the balcony’s of his friends flat and it warmed Charles’ heart. As they were eating lunch, the Thursday before Charles had to go on press duties, Lyanna started to pull out a list from the pocket of her midi dress.
“I started to scribble down a few name ideas for the baby.”
Charles took it from her hands and started to look through it.
“I’m not naming my daughter Guinevere. That’s ridiculous.”
“You have Perceval as a middle name, you’re one to talk.”
“Yeah, as a middle name.Neither am I naming her Monza. Where did you get those ideas?”
“You don’t have to sound so condescending! I was trying to find a name with a meaning to us and you, you are just making fun of me!”
She stood up, tears in her eyes. Charles felt immediately guilty. he knew that lately, Lyanna had the tendency to cry about just anything. A cat on the street? Cries. A praise from Charles? cries. Her favourite food out of stock in the supermarket? Cries. Charles knew and was usually careful about what he was saying around her.
“Love, I’m sorrry, I didn’t mean to sound like that and make you sad. You have wonderful ideas but admit it, these names are not it.”
“I’m just scared we won’t find something that fits her, you know. I want her to be proud of her name.”
“I promise you, we will find the perfect name.”
“Pinky promise?”
“Pinky promise.”
The last few weeks that started to take a toll on her as she couldn’t do anything and was forced to rely on people, which she hated. We were almost mid-June and she was supposed to give birth anytime now. Charles was supposed to leave for the Canadian Grand Prix and wasn’t comfortable with letting Lya alone. She could go into labour at any time now. She refused to admit it but Lya was also scared to see him leave. but he was ahead in the championship leader board and she didn’t want to ask him to stay with her. A day before leaving, Charles spent hours on the phone with his team and ended up making the decision to not race.
And it was the right decision as the late Saturday evening, Lyanna’s water broke. Charles never drove that fast in his life (and that meant something). Lyanna’s delivery were not as smooth as her pregnancy. Nothing had ever hurt as much in her life, to the point that nothing seemed to make the pain go away. She was crying from the pain and it hurt Charles to know that there was nothing he could do. He refused to leave her side, trying to do what he could to distract her but it was pointless.
When the doctor finally arrived, to check how the baby was presenting herself, Charles’ felt like his wolrd was about to collapse.
“A natural delivery is too risky for Lyanna. I would recommend a c-section.”
“What are the risks if I refuse?”
“Lyanna..”
“I want to know, Charles.”
“Life threatening for you and the baby.” told her the doctor.
“That’s it. We are doing it. I’m not arguing with you about that Lya.”
Charles looked at her with pleading eyes and exhausted, Lyanna agreed. A few hours later, baby cries could be heard inside the delivery room. Both Lyanna and Charles were crying from joy and exhaustion.
“A perfectly healthy and beautiful baby girl. I’m giving you privacy.” announced the nurse, giving the newborn to Lyanna.
“Julia.” Whispered Lyanna.
“Julia?” repeated Charles.
“What do you think? As a name? We wanted something meaningful.”
“You want to name her after Jules? Are you sure?”
“Entirely. It fits her, don’t you think?”
Charles looked at his daughter a soft smile playing on his lips.
“Welcome in our family, my Julia. I’m your daddy and I promise that I will do my best to never fail you.”
Charles came out from the delivery room, tears falling of his cheeks. His family was waiting impatiently as Pascale was on the phone with Lyanna’s mom. Everyone stopped when they saw Charles standing in front of the door, exhausted but happy.
“I’m so happy to announce you that Lyanna and I are the parents of a little Julia Rose Renée Pascale Leclerc, born the 16th of June 2025.”

Hi! You think arthur wasn't premature? Do you think he was planned ?
Hi! Sorry for taking so long to reply! Honestly, I'm unsure whether Arthur was carried to term or genuinely premature. I've been meaning to make a poll about it because imo this is such an interesting speculation. The arguments in favour and against Arthur being premature would be, in general lines:
Arguments in favour:
Elizabeth of York seems to have been sick during her pregnancy. Preparations had been made for her arrival at York for the king's northern progress but she did not go. After her labour, she definitely became sick (she had an 'ague', as the herald recorded). Hyperemesis gravidarum could explain Elizabeth's sickness and possible preterm delivery.
The Earl of Oxford, one of Arthur's godparents, arrived late for Arthur's christening ceremony, delaying for a couple of days. If Arthur was born premature it could explain why Oxford had not made his way yet to Winchester by the time of his godchild's birth.
Henry VII was famously prudent, which was also talked about during his lifetime, and that might have hindered any premarital relations. He went to great lengths to have all the necessary marriage dispensations and to have his marriage formally recognised by parliament as a state necessity. Given the whole context of past accusations of illegitimacy against royal heirs, it would be out of character for him to risk having his heir born before they could get a papal dispensation and undergo a formal public wedding ceremony. Henry himself declared to the papal legate that 'he cannot fulfil such desire [marriage] without obtaining canonical dispensation'.
Arguments against:
Arthur was described as a 'fair prince and large of bones' at his birth. Being described as a big baby does not sound like someone who was born before his term. His parents waited a few days for his baptism thanks to Oxford's late arrival so they definitely thought him healthy enough to risk the possibility of him dying before getting him the sacrament. At that time, babies who died before baptism were considered unable to go to Heaven, and many hasty baptisms were performed by midwives soon after the child's delivery if their health was considered to be in danger. The herald who registered the proceedings of Arthur's birth and christening never once did mention that Arthur arrived early or that Elizabeth of York 'was delivered suddenly', like she was said to have the last time she gave birth (1503).
In medieval England, betrothals could be as binding as an actual marriage. Elizabeth of York was described as Henry VII's 'wife' since December 1485 and seems to have moved into the Palace of Westminster around that time, that is, they started cohabitating from then on. It's possible they became husband and wife in practical terms after a declaration of intention to marry followed by consummation (marriage per verba de praesenti).
Although Henry VII made sure to get all the necessary papal dispensations (3), the fact is that he did not wait for the arrival of all three dispensations and quickly married Elizabeth after the arrival of the first one — only two days later, in fact. Did they rush to get a public wedding because they had already been living as husband and wife? Did they do it because they feared Elizabeth could already have been pregnant at that time? Why couldn't they wait until March/April when the other dispensation, signed by the Pope himself this time, arrived?
The papal representative that gave them their first dispensation arrived in England in January. It's possible they already knew about his arrival back in December and knew that they could quickly get their first dispensation through him (they certainly did prepare for his audience), so cohabitating (and everything else it entailed) would not be as risky and imprudent of them as we might think nowadays. Alternatively, the papal legate might have already been in England by December but could only hold an audience in January once Advent/Christmastide was over.
Henry VII's prudence aside, they might have simply had the hots for each other. Thomas Stanley declared at the papal audience that he often heard Elizabeth and Henry talking together about their marriage ('often and at divers times treating and communing of and about a marriage to be contracted between them') and that Elizabeth had 'great and intimate love and cordial affection' for Henry. Stanley was the only witness to cite Elizabeth's love and affection when questioned, so it does not read as an argument line that was agreed upon between all the witnesses before the audience. Interestingly, in the ballad The Most Pleasant Song of the Lady Bessy, Thomas Stanley is portrayed as Elizabeth's trusted friend. Similarly, the Earl of Nottingham, who claimed to have known Henry for twenty years, was the only one to cite Henry's 'singular love which he bears to her'. The pregnancy calculator sets Arthur's full-term conception as 29 December-4 January, so could Arthur have been a Christmas/New Year's celebration baby, conceived during a time when court etiquette was particularly lax and the mood particularly festive?
This is all I can think now but there might be other arguments either in favour or against the theory. I've been meaning to read a new biography of Arthur Tudor recently published whose author seems to think Arthur truly was premature, so I'm curious to know why he thinks that. Of course, the theory that Arthur was premature does carry a certain weight. Every argument against it can be refuted, including for example, the idea that Arthur would have looked small on the day of his birth (20 September 1486) if he was conceived exactly on their parents' wedding night — he would only be a week short of his full time, then. If he was conceived later, though, he would have been even more premature. It's difficult to say.

Okay but now we need to see a story of Dimitri and his boys all fretting over the newest addition to the family 😂 i love picturing them all protective over this tiny baby girl who sticks by her mama most of the time
(I am always a supporter of the Fodlan husbands having big families... first Sylvain and now Dima with his little trio!!! ; A ; )
When his firstborn son was brought into the world, he had initially fretted over hurting the baby by accident. Upon holding him the first time when you insisted he try it…he realized all those fears were for nothing.
The first prince was a strong boy, robust even as a newborn baby. His fears were quickly assuaged.
His second son, born a few years alter, was far softer and quieter than his brother, but was still a healthy and happy baby. Dimitri held even less concern over his secondborn, because he had the experience of being a father and knowing how to handle and raise a son, now.
But then came the third baby. A surprise pregnancy, and one that seemed to be different from your first two. It was a harder pregnancy,  and an even more difficult birth. The reason for this became clear in an instant; you had given birth to the first Blaiddyd princess in generations
Dimitri didn’t know what the hells he was supposed to do with this information.
He’d been stationed outside the delivery room, tending to his two young sons while waiting anxiously for news about his wife and third child.
He never anticipated Mercedes telling him that you gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
And when he was allowed into the room to see you and the baby?
He was just utterly flummozxed.
“B-Byleth…” he stuttered despite himself, nearly stumbling on his way to see you.
You cradled a bundle to your chest; a familiar sight he’d seen twice before.
But this time, there was an even warmer and softer smile on your lips. This time, you were cooing over a little girl.
The Princess of Fodlan.
The fact that those words had even crossed through his mind had made his heart erupt into thundering palpitations.
“Come, Dima…come meet your daughter.”
“I-I…” He trailed off when he finally made it to your side, drawing up a chair to the bedside so that he could sit beside you. “I cvan’t believe it. IMercedes…she said it was a girl. Is it truly…..do we have a daughter?”
‘See for yourself,’ You smiled at him, dawing the blankets back from the newborn’s round little face. “This is indeed your daughter. And she’s the most beautiful baby I’ve ever seen.”
Dimitri was at a loss for words. She was so very tiny- were her brothers that size when they were born? He recalled them being pudgier, and still wailing even after their mother held them.
This one…she was snoozing happily, nuzzled into your chest, and she was the cutest, tiniest creature he’d ever laid his eyes on.
“Oh…oh, Beloved…she is so very beautiful…” He gasped, on instinct his hand extended to brush the baby’ scheek.
But quickly he remembered himself and withdrew, a great fear coming over his face.
“Is she too beautiful to touch, my love?” You joked, but he shook his head, expression quite grave.
“I fear…she is far too small, Byleth. What if I harm her by accident?”
“You sound like you did when our firstborn was introduced to you.”
He nodded, the wariness growing. “T-that is because she is so small! Look at her, Byleth! She’s….she’s so much more petite than her brothers were. I-is she not premature/”
“Mercedes told me she’s just a little bit smaller. But both the boys were closed to this size when they were born. Maybe they were a little bit bigger, but-”
“There! You see? She’s far more delicate than them- we must set up her room and update the nursery to be more safe than we ever prepared it previously. We cannot risk her falling to harm with such a tiny frame!”
“Dima, darling, she’s a newborn. She’s going to be fragile no matter what. There’s no reason to treat her any different than the boys; well, aside from her personality. Hopefully she’ll be an easy baby since the delivery was…difficult.”
“Yes…yes, of course.” He nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat. He brought his arm around your shoulders, drawing you to his chest and pressing a kiss to your temple. “I-I was so stunned by the revelation that we have a daughter, I forgot to extend my deepest congratulations to you. You’ve done well, once again. And I am eternally grateful that you came through another delivery.”
“Heh, thank you.” You giggled softly, always amused by his sincerity. He spoke as if you’d completed a mission you could’ve trained for, rather than suffering through a long and hard birth.
“I am so proud of you. Thank you for giving us another beautiful child…and a daughter, no less.” He beamed at you, stroking your hair tenderly. “You never fail to surprise me, even after all these years.”
“Maybe next time I’ll switch it up with twins.”
“Beloved, please,” He laughed nervously, “I do not believe that’s something either of us have control over…nor is it something we should be worrying about when we have a newborn to take care of.”
“Fair enough.” You settled back into the pillows, offering the girl for him to hold. “Do you want to greet your daughter properly?”
“If…if you think it’s all right.” He replied carefully, going rigid when the little bundle was passed into his hands.
She was so tiny, she didn’t even fit in space from the crook of his arm to his wrist.
And his heart was filled with love, overwhelmed with the thought that this delicate, beautiful little girl was his daughter. Her tiny breaths were so sweet, cradled close to her father’s chest.
Dimitri was fighting the desire to cry right there- now was no time to cry. Certainly not while he had two young princes waiting to see their mother.
“Should I fetch the boys? I know they were waiting to see their mother. But if you’d rather enjoy the peace and quiet a little while longer, we don’t have to.”
“No, I think that’s a great idea. I’m sure they’ll be just as surprised to meet their new sister.”
Dimitri nodded, carefully returning the newborn to your arms.
He wasted no tie getting to the doors, informing the nursemaids that the young princes could join them. They needed to meet their new little sibling, after all.
The pair scampered in, eyes sparkling with excitement. Dimitri watched after them when they hurried past, all but racing to their mother’s bedside.
“Mama! You did it!”
“Can we see him? Can I hold him?”
“Certainly, “You chuckled, shifting so that the boys could see the bundle in your ahnds. “MikhaelMikhail, Eisner…meet your new baby sister.”
The boys gasped, eyes wide in shock when they realized that pudgy, pink little thing you were holding wasn’t a new brother at all- but it was their sister.
“Mama…Mama!!!”
“Yes, Eisner?”
Your youngest son gulped, jabbing a finger at his sister’s round face. “She’s a girl!!!”
Dimitri and you both laughed.
“Yes, she is, my love.” You tousled his hair, “Isn’t she cute?”
“She’s real pink,” Mikhail observed, “Is she supposed to be that pink?”
“You and your little brother looked the very same when you were born, you know. Perhaps even rosier.” Dimitri replied, beaming at his adorable sons who were currently obsessing over their sister.
“Were we that tiny, too?” Eisner piped up again, putting a testing hand on the blankets she snoozed in.
“She’s actually a little bit smaller than you two were. She’s the littlest of the three of you, from what I recall.”
“Which means you’ll need to take special care of your sister to make sure she grows up big and strong, like you two.”
“How do we do that, Papa?” Mikhail asked, wriggling his way onto the bed so he could also put a curious hand on the little girl.
“Well, for starters, you can help your mother by holding the baby when she needs to rest. You can play with her, and read to her…and when she’s ready for a bottle, you can also make sure she gets fed.”
“Ooh- if we can play with her, does that mean we get to fight with her too? If we start training her now, she’ll be super strong when she’s our age, right?”
“I’m afraid she won’t be able to pick up a blade for a while, son, let alone a toy dagger. The most she’ll be able to hold is your finger, perhaps.” Dimitri mused, motioning for Mikhail to give it a try.
Carefully, your eldest reached forward, finding the teeny tiny hand that wasn’t bundled away, and pressed his fingers into her palm. Almost instantly hers wrapped around them, eliciting an excited gasp from her big brother.
“Oh!! She did! She’s holding my hand, Papa!!”
“Good job.” You said with a smile that suggested all the happiness in the world was filling your heart right then and there.
After a little more time passed, the visit had to come to an end. The queen and princess did need their rest, and you were in need of a change of dress while the bedsheets and blankets were cleaned and refreshed.
Dimitri took his sons out for a delightful dinner and their favorite desserts, as a treat for being such sweet big brothers.
Of course, in the brief time they were apart from you, they formed a pact, vowing to protect the little princess from any and all harm.
And said pact was extremely effective, until her Crest of Blaiddyd activated and her strength rivaled that of her adult father…at the age of five.
Needless to say, the addition of your little girl was a welcome and ever-exciting surprise for your growing family.

If you don't mind can i request an angst to fluff scenario with shirabu where his newborn baby is very sick and still hasn't able to leave the nicu as a doctor shirabu feels utterly useless and couldn't even bear to look at his baby but seeing his wife visiting their baby everyday and hearing her assurance that it's not his fault and that their baby will be ok he finally decide to visit with his wife as much as possible and apologize to his baby for not being there then gradually their baby show enough signs of improvements to go home and the parents just cry tears of joy 😭
I know this isn't what i usually request and it's a pretty heavy scenario but i just couldn't get it out of my head and shirabu is like perfect for it 😔 you don't have to write it if you don't want to or if it makes you uncomfortable of course!
Bestie I’ll be honest I wasn’t sure if I wanted to write this because I don’t have much experience with the nicu and premie babies and I don’t want to be insensitive because that’s a very touchy subject for lots of people, but I’m hoping this doesn’t come out insensitive (if anyone finds this insensitive pls let me know so I can fix it!!)
Part two here!
Tumblr media
Tw: premature birth, nicu stays, premature baby, angst to fluff, guilt, crying, possibly a breach in hippa guide lines(the doctors talk about declining healths of patients), baby comes home for the first time, cursing
Tumblr media
He could feel the guilt eating at him everyday. Everyday he’d come home from the hospital to you crying because your precious little girl had been born premature, this meant she would have to stay in the nicu for a while before she could come home to ensure she’d be healthy.
He couldn’t help his own daughter because he’d be a conflict of interest and it only made him feel worse, how was he supposed to trust his colleges with her? He’s heard how they gather around the coffee machine whispering under their breaths about how certain patients were declining in health. Could he ever recover if the subject of their gossip were to become his daughter?
Seeing you come from the nicu everyday a sad smile on your face knowing you’d have to wait until tomorrow to see her again. He couldn’t even bring himself to see her after she was born and he felt like shit because of it, he’d seen her from across the room after you went into labor but that was really it.
Slowly say by day, your crying died down which Shirabu was thankful for, assuming it meant she was doing better. Any free time you’d had was spent telling him about all the little things she’d done during your visit and how they were preparing for her to go home soon!
“Shirabu?” He hears you call tiredly as he sits in the living room quickly wiping at his face, “what’s wrong?” You ask seeing him wipe at his face.
“I just feel like it’s my fault” he breaks down at the question, you quickly move over wrapping your arms around him as he cries into your shoulder.
“Listen, Kenjiro I felt like that at first too, but I talked with the nurse and she said it’s normal to feel that way when this happens but it’s important to know that there wasn’t a thing either of us could have done to prevent it.” He looks up at you with watery eyes as he nods.
“Besides, she’s ok now, they told me she’s going to come home soon as well.”
And you were right, after a few more days, the two of you were leaving the hospital with your little girl, Shirabu didn’t really know how to react, when he’d seen the nurse holding her he wanted to sob, she looked so much different from when he’d seen her in the delivery room, she looked healthier. Maybe that’s what he was scared of seeing her and she’d been worse than before.
After getting through all the paperwork and getting home he was hurrying to set her car seat down asking you if he could hold her.
“She’s your baby to you know” you tell him looking up as you unbuckle her lifting her gently before handing her over.
“Yea…of course I knew that” he replies but it doesn’t have his usual bitter bite to it, it’s softer almost a whisper full of emotions.
Tumblr media
If anyone has more experience with the nicu and knows that something is particular wrong(I tried not to be too detailed to avoid this!) pls let me know so I can fix it!!
Anyways let me know if you guys want me to write anything else because I love writing requests!

First of all I really enjoy your work, its amazing:) So I wonder if you would be interested in an switch gift AU especially with the triplets. What I mean with that is, what would had happened if Julieta was the one with the vision gift. And she would had that vision of Mirabel. Do you think she would pull an Bruno? Of tried the negotiat with Alma? ( Sorry if there are riding mistakes)
Oh hello, thank you! ♥
Well, I wouldn't be interested in writing it, at least not at the moment because I have far too many WIPs and I feel like one more WIP would overwhelm me. Buuuut...
Back in March? Or February? Someone asked me about the AUs I was thinking about and one of them was the gift switch where Pepa was still Pepa but Bruno's and Julieta's gifts were switched. So you got a healer Bruno and a seer Julieta.
How things are in that AU?
Well, Pepa is still Pepa...
Bruno is still Bruno, meaning he still has OCD and loves his rats (which enrages everyone, especially Alma, because rats in the kitchen?!) and he's still that awkward man, though he's not seen as a black sheep now, just as a weirdo. Since he's very socially awkward, often Julieta (who has fewer duties than Pepa or him) helps him with food deliveries, and shopping and usually she's the one to be on his food stand and give people healing food.
That and her kind, shy, quiet nature make people more tolerant toward her gift than they were to Bruno in canon. She's forgiven more easily and if some villager is mean to her or threatens her, many people jump to her help because 1) she's Julieta, it's her charm and 2) she's a woman and if a man tries to let out his fury for a bad vision on her, there are other people that would always jump to her rescue.
Julieta is still a lot like in canon. Caring, kind, very family-oriented. She's less distant from her family, and because she found her place in the community by getting married and having kids, her room looks different as well and her stairs aren't that high. They barely changed over the years. Her room is just... more family-friendly and actually looks like a room, not some dessert cave lol
How did she meet Agustin, you may ask. Well, as I said, she often helped Bruno and stood on his stand and that's how one day that awkward boy met her, thinking she was a healer. It turned out she was a seer who thanks to her random quick vision, was able to see most of Agustin's injuries just in time to stop him from being hurt.
They bonded, they fell in love, they married, they had kids.
Now, Julieta always had known she'd have three children. That's why in this AU she was prepared for a miscarriage she would one day experience (my hc, don't mind it; also, it didn't mean she was ready for that when it happened, it still hurt) but she had no idea her youngest child would be born prematurely, her vision didn't tell her that until one day when a sharp pain she felt suddenly triggered a sudden vision that told her that her baby girl would come into this world soon, weeks earlier than she should. A lovely gift, isn't it? XD
So, in this scenario, Julieta would never leave her husband and children. When Mirabel didn't get a gift (which Julieta didn't see as well because she never looked into the kids' gifts), she had a vision, just like Alma asked but then... She consulted it with her husband. And they decided that they'd hide it. Julieta forced herself to have another vision and decided to give her mother this one while she hid the original one somewhere nobody but her would find her (or so she hoped).
(I also think that if Bruno had his own family, he would never leave as well but that's a side note of sorts XD)
Julieta and Agustin also decided that if Alma ever found out about the vision, they would probably move out because they knew her reaction about Mirabel being a possible danger to their house and the Miracle might make things worse.
But this Julieta is still a loving and very protective mother, so she stays. She keeps her daughters close. She bonds with Mirabel over being seen as the weirdest ones in the family (because even if this Julieta is rather liked by the villagers, she's still considered a freak because of her seeing abilities).
Would Bruno have his own family in this AU? I don't think so. I kinda like the aro-ace hc for him.
Would Luisa's and Isabela's gifts be different because Julieta's gift is different as well? Maybe, though I kinda like original ones... Like... Isabela gets a flower power to make her parents' room more livable and because she had always loved nature. Luisa gets her strength because this Julieta had also been an older sister, the responsible and caring one, so Luisa is the caring one as well.
So yeah... If any of you have some theories or hcs about this AY, you can drop it.

It was only when Peter pushed his chair away from the mix board and stretched that he realized that his crew had fallen asleep. Tommy sprawled on the rug and snoring up a storm, Tarsha and Adel tangled up on the couch, Mike stretched out in the other desk chair, with his arms crossed and chin tucked into his chest.
Damn, they need to stop slipping into these all-nighters.
But it couldn't be helped, could it? Not when there's a deadline on the horizon and albums to be made and collaborations to be had. As the only one still awake, it was up to Peter to make the preparations. He went into the kitchen and set up the coffeemakers, setting the timers to start brewing in an hour. Then a quick search of the nearest late-hour or 24-hour restaurants that delivered; of the three that popped up, he scheduled a catering delivery from the African one (he had been craving Efo Riro for weeks, let the others complain). Finally, to the closet, where he took out the blankets to carry back to the studio.
Careful as to not wake them, Peter spread and draped the blankets on each member, tucking the couch's pillow under Adel's head and taking the other to put under Tommy's. After covering a blanket over Mike in a way that it wouldn't slide off, Peter rolled up the throw blanket for a cushion. He gently lifted Mike's head to tuck the blanket around his shoulder. And then he saw it.
Mike's hair had grown, locks framing his face. Of course, it would have been easy to miss. Peter brushed those locks back to be sure, and his breath caught in his throat.
Gray hairs. A sprinkling of gray along his temples, grays that Mike was too young to have. Of course, premature graying was a thing that Peter knew existed, and with Mike being an ass and constantly trying to be the leader, and taking care of his kid, his body would take some hits. Still...
"...Fuck," Peter sighed, letting the hair fall back over Mike's face. He tucked the rolled-up blanket under the man's head and picked up another blanket for himself, but stopped to look around at the rest of his crew, his mortal, and thus brief, family.

So you’ve established that faerie pregnancies are two years long, and that faerie genetics are dominant traits when they mate with humans so mixed species children are far more faerie than human. This works out fine with riona and bones, because riona is full faerie and has the capacity to carry that type of pregnancy. But what about the reverse with a female human and a male faerie? Human bodies weren’t designed for 2 year pregnancies, and giving birth barely a third into your pregnancy certainly isn’t compatible with life for human babies and I can’t imagine faeries either. So is it a thing where male faeries with a female human partner know they have to use contraceptives because any fetus with a faerie dad and a human mom will die upon it’s very premature delivery, and the only faerie human hybrids are from faerie mothers?
So, part of this is due to wing development. I took some inspiration from bats, as the only winged mammal, for the length of the pregnancy.
The total pregnancy is 96 weeks, so that comes out closer to 22 months vs 24 months. This is what I have written for pregnancy:
"The pregnancy lasts for 96 weeks, as this gives the faeries time to develop in the womb, especially their wings. Their wings take a lot of development, as there are extra bones, muscles, and ligaments that need to be formed, mostly in the attachments in their shoulder blades. The wings need the most time to develop, and the development of the wings takes up most of the later portion of the pregnancy.
A faerie can safely give birth anywhere after 55 weeks. The child, though very premature, will still survive. However, the wings will never fully develop in any child that is born before 89 weeks. They may have partial development of the wings depending on how long into the pregnancy that they are born, but they will never be able to fly or have full wing function.
The faerie pregnancy cannot be observed the way a human pregnancy is in modern days with technology. Faeries sort of mark different sections of pregnancy by seasons. Their pregnancy is just under two years, which makes them go through every season except for one fully, allowing them to easily keep track. Faeries can generally tell that they are pregnant within the first 4-8 weeks, and this gives them ample time to prepare their homes and lives for the change. While miscarriages can happen to faeries if they are under an inordinate amount of stress, they are rare, and faeries in the womb generally always make it to the point of viability. If a faerie miscarries before they find out they are pregnant, then they generally haven’t realized that they have miscarried."
So, a human with a uterus could theoretically give birth to a half-faerie child; their wings would just not be developed. While rare, there have been pregnancies that are longer than a year, though 375 days is the longest, and that is not nearly as long as 55 weeks. (Hence the theoretically.)
In most cases, the uterus-having partner for cross-species relationships would have to be the faerie, yes. It is the only chance for a completely healthy baby.
Faeries, though, generally a.) use some form of contraception at all times and b.) while fertile, do not get pregnant often. They live forever, and they would quickly overpopulate if they got pregnant as easily as humans can. Uterus-having faeries do not menstruate, so there is no "cycle". Generally, faeries get pregnant by increasing the amount of sex they are having. (Hence why Riona gets pregnant quickly during the honeymoon on Yorktown; I imagine that they are there for about six months, and she finds out in the 4-8 week window when they return to the Enterprise. Lots of sex was a good distraction for perpetually anxious Len, who felt super uncomfortable on the Yorktown base.)

Game Change Chitosan
The world of drug delivery is on the brink of a revolution, with innovative solutions like the Oral Colon-Specific Drug Delivery System (OCDDS) taking center stage. This system aims to precisely target drug release to the colon, avoiding premature release in the stomach and small intestine. The benefits are twofold: increasing drug concentration at the site of action while minimizing systemic side effects. Two key players in this revolution are molecular imprinting and chitosan, which are being harnessed to create intelligent polymer materials and improve treatment outcomes. This article will delve deeper into the science behind molecular imprinting, chitosan, and their applications in drug delivery, particularly for colorectal cancer treatment.
Molecular Imprinting: A Game-Changer in Drug Delivery
Molecular imprinting is a cutting-edge technology that has gained significant attention for its ability to create intelligent polymer materials with specific recognition capabilities for target molecules. These materials, known as molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), are synthesized by polymerizing functional monomers around a template molecule, which is then removed, leaving behind cavities that are complementary in shape, size, and chemical functionality to the template. This process endows MIPs with predetermined recognition ability, making them highly selective for the target molecule.
MIPs offer numerous advantages over traditional drug delivery systems. They are highly stable, both thermally and chemically, and can withstand harsh conditions that would degrade other materials. Additionally, MIPs are cost-effective, as they can be easily synthesized and are reusable. Their high selectivity and affinity for the target molecule enable them to effectively control drug release, making them ideal for creating high-performance drug delivery systems.
Harnessing the Power of Chitosan
Chitosan, derived from chitin, is a versatile amino-polysaccharide that has gained considerable attention in the field of drug delivery due to its biocompatibility and biodegradability. Chitosan is a linear polysaccharide composed of randomly distributed β-(1-4)-linked D-glucosamine and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine units. Its functional groups, such as amino and hydroxyl groups, allow for structural modifications, making it a valuable resource for preparing MIPs.
Chitosan-based MIPs offer several advantages over traditional MIPs. They are more biocompatible and biodegradable, reducing the risk of adverse reactions and long-term accumulation in the body. Additionally, chitosan's cationic nature enables it to interact with negatively charged molecules, expanding its applications in drug delivery.
Chemical modifications of chitosan, such as carboxymethylation, hydroxypropylation, and quaternization, can enhance its solubility and properties, further expanding its applications in various fields, including medicine. For instance, carboxymethyl chitosan has improved water solubility and mucoadhesive properties, making it an ideal candidate for colon-specific drug delivery.
Targeting Colorectal Cancer with 5-Fluorouracil
5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is a potent chemotherapy drug for colorectal cancer, but its limitations include rapid metabolism and low bioavailability. To address these challenges, researchers are focusing on developing oral colon-specific delivery systems for 5-FU. By combining molecular surface imprinting with pH-sensitive and time-delayed release mechanisms, a novel delivery system is being designed to enhance the efficacy and safety of colorectal cancer treatment.
The OCDDS for 5-FU is based on the concept of exploiting the unique physiological conditions of the colon, such as its lower pH and the presence of specific enzymes, to achieve site-specific drug release. This system typically consists of an enteric coating that protects the drug from premature release in the stomach and small intestine, and a chitosan-based MIP core that selectively releases the drug in the colon.
The integration of molecular imprinting and chitosan in the OCDDS offers several advantages. The MIP core provides high selectivity and affinity for 5-FU, ensuring that the drug is released only in the colon. The chitosan matrix enhances the stability and biocompatibility of the system, while its pH-sensitive properties enable site-specific drug release. Additionally, the time-delayed release mechanism ensures that the drug is released over an extended period, maximizing its therapeutic effect while minimizing side effects.
Future Prospects: Integrating Molecular Imprinting, Chitosan, and Advanced Drug Delivery Systems
The integration of molecular imprinting, chitosan, and advanced drug delivery systems holds immense promise for revolutionizing targeted drug delivery. By leveraging these technologies, researchers aim to improve treatment outcomes, reduce side effects, and enhance patient care in the field of medicine.
Stay tuned for more updates on the groundbreaking advancements in drug delivery and personalized medicine! In the coming years, we can expect to see more innovative solutions that harness the power of molecular imprinting and chitosan to create intelligent, high-performance drug delivery systems. These developments will not only transform the way we treat diseases like colorectal cancer but also pave the way for a new era of personalized medicine.
The fusion of molecular imprinting and chitosan in drug delivery systems represents a significant leap forward in the field of medicine. By creating intelligent polymer materials that can recognize and control the release of specific drugs, researchers are developing targeted therapies that maximize efficacy while minimizing side effects. As these technologies continue to evolve, we can look forward to a future where personalized, effective treatments become the norm, ultimately improving patient care and outcomes.
In this future, the integration of molecular imprinting, chitosan, and advanced drug delivery systems will play a crucial role in transforming the way we approach disease treatment. By harnessing the power of these technologies, we can create intelligent, high-performance drug delivery systems that are tailored to the specific needs of individual patients. This will not only improve treatment outcomes but also pave the way for a

Preeclampsia: Signs, Causes, Risk Factors, Complications, Diagnosis & Treatment
Pre-eclampsia :-
Pre-eclampsia is a condition that happens during pregnancy. Often in this condition , mothers suffering from high blood pressure called hypertension or protein are thrown out from the urine.
It might affect different organs and can be harmful to mother and foetus as well.
The seriousness of disease is declared by high blood pressure and it usually happens after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
The cause of this condition are not fully understood, but genetic factors and placenta seem to play an important role.
Effects of Pre-eclampsia on unborn baby-
Usually baby is connected to mother by a special organ called as placenta.Through placenta baby receives oxygen, proteins and everything through mothers blood and waste is thrown out into mothers blood which is thrown out of the mothers body as well.If there is very high blood pressure, the RBCs will not be able to transport oxygen to the baby due to which the baby might get oxygen deprived and might get suffocated.
Another serious condition is placental abruption where the placental abruption here the baby might separate from placenta and mother might face vaginal bleeding.
Causes
The exact cause for Pre-eclampsia is not known but it is believed that it develops due to the problem with placenta. There might be drcrease of blood supply to placenta because the blood vessel might not have been well developed and this can lead to problems with both you and fetus.
Symptoms
High blood pressure and protein in urine is one of the common symptoms in Pre-eclampsia but this might not be noticeable in early stages.
Other signs and symptoms may include
Level of platelets decreased in blood
increased enzymes production indicating liver damage
Severe headache
Shortness of breath
Pain in upper belly usually under ribs
Nausea or vomiting
Blurred vision
Sudden weight gain or swellinf particularly in hands and pain may also be a sign of Pre-eclampsia .
Risk factors
Studies have shown that black women has a higher chance of having Pre-eclampsia than white women. This difference might not be dye to biology but the accesss to prenatal care and health care in general .
Lower income is also related as access to Healthcare. Other risk factors may include:-
First pregnancy- chance of Pre-eclampsia is tend to happen more in first pregnancy
Family history
Other condition- people with diabetes,  high bp, kidney disease are more likely to develop Pre-eclampsia
Multiple pregnancy-if a person is expecting 2 or more babies then chances are more.
Treatment
The healthcare provider might tell you to do some physical exams as well as blood or urine test as well and the resulrs will decide what kind of treatment should be given. Pre-eclampsia is not cured until baby is delivered. Until tge persons blood pressure reduces they have high risk of placental abruption ,bleeding or organ failure. So the doctor may recommend
Antihypertensive- they help to lower blood pressure
Anticonvulsant- they might use these drug to prevent first seizure.
Corticosteroids- they induce fetal lung maturity to prepare for premature delivery.
REST- if the person is far from delivery date and have mild symptoms doctor might advice bed rest.Resting bring down bp, increase blod flow to placenta .
INDUCING LABOR - if person is end to Pre-eclampsia then the doctor might advice for early delivery by inducing labor or petform a ceaserean delivery as soon as possible. Symptoms of Pre-eclampsia might go away within few weeks of delivery.
PREVENTION:-
It is not fully preventable but several steps can reduce the risk
Drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water
Ecxluding salt
Avoid alcohol or caffeine
Regular exercise
Resting
Eat healthy food
Summary
Pre-eclampsia is a disease where there is sudden high blood pressure and protein in urine. It is not preventable but taking few steps might reduce the risk like drinking water, doing exercise daily and including healthy food in diet.Every pregnant women should discuss about preeclampsia with the doctor to know more information.

Could you please tell more about why Elizabeth went to the Tower of London in 1503 but unexpectedly gave birth to her child? And why did Henry VII go to the Tower at that time? Thank you very much!
Hi! We don't exactly know why went to the Tower in February 1503, but presumably they were there to commemorate the feast of Candlemas, the day of the Virgin Mary's purification after the birth of Jesus Christ (a ritual which medieval women replicated in their own personal churchings). It was an important holyday in the Christian liturgical year and as such the king and queen would publicly attend mass along with the rest of the court. It was a day of special solemnity because Candlemas was considered a 'major double feast' and a 'day of estate', meaning that during the ceremony the king would wear 'his sircot, his kirtille and his … ermyne' and was to have on his head 'a hat of estate and his swerd before hym'. At the beginning of the mass a courtier would carry a candle (taper) before the king and queen which would be deposited at the altar. In the evening a 'void' occurred where nobles gathered in the great chamber to take refreshments with the king (and presumably the same happened in the queen's chambers).
Although Henry and Elizabeth were not frequent residents of the Tower in the first fifteen years of his reign, they used the place for ceremonial occasions such as coronations (1485 & 1487), diplomatic visits (1496 & 1501), openings of parliament (1497), St George's feast day (1500) and tournaments (1500). Henry ordered a new tower to be built there in 1501-1502 which might indicate a growing interest in expanding their use of the Tower. Accordingly, we see Henry and Elizabeth residing there from about 13 December until 22 December 1502. At some point they left the Tower to spend Christmas at Richmond where Henry paid for Elizabeth's furs. On January 26 Elizabeth went back from Richmond to London but I don't know exactly where she stayed from 26 January to 1 February. Her expenses suggest that first she went to Westminster and then to the Tower. All we know is that she was at the Tower on the 2nd of February (Candlemas) according to two contemporary sources:
Upon Candlemas Day in the night following the day, the King and the Queen then being lodged in the Tower of London, the Queen that night was delivered of a daughter, where she intended to have been delivered at Richmond. (Vitellius A XVI manuscript)
Candlemas Day in the night, the King and Queen being then at the Tower, the Queen travailed of child suddenly and was delivered of a daughter, the which was christened in the parish church of the said Tower & named Katherine. (The Great Chronicle of London)
Besides those two reports, that Henry was also at the Tower on that day is suggested by his offering at All Hallows Barking, a church located next to the Tower. My opinion is that they meant to spend Candlemas there but not to stay too long: the chroniclers as well as Elizabeth's payments suggest not only that she had a premature birth ('travailed of child suddenly') but that her confinement had been prepared at Richmond, so I doubt Elizabeth travelled to the Tower to have her child there. Another indication is that Henry usually lodged in the same residence Elizabeth had her deliveries and his household stuff only arrived at the Tower on 3 February, the day after her delivery. He stayed there until Elizabeth passed away by which point he departed to Richmond to ‘pass his sorrows’.
[He] took with him certain of his secretest, and privately departed to a solitary place to pass his sorrows and would no man should resort to him but such his Grace appointed.
We know Elizabeth had been ill at several moments during her last pregnancy. On 18 September 1502 she authorised payment of an apothecary’s bill and on the following days Henry sent for her surgeon. In November she had been visited by two nurses: Mistress Harcourt at Westminster on the 14th and 'a French woman' at Baynard’s Castle on the 26th. In January, Henry rewarded and sent for her surgeon once more on the 20th when he was at Richmond (and according to her expenses, Elizabeth was there too). Henry would send for a physician for Elizabeth for the last time on the first days of February but the doctor arrived too late.
I wonder if the ceremonies involved with a 'day of estate' such as Candlemas proved too tiresome for Elizabeth? It might have seemed symbolic for those around Elizabeth to see the queen going into labour on Candlemas, the day of the purification of the Virgin. If they interpreted that as the sign of a blessing, her passing a few days afterwards (on her own birthday no less) might have changed their opinion.
That's all I have but I hope my answer was helpful to you! 🌹x

Lessons from Failures in Product Diffusion
This week's topic on product diffusion brought to my mind Juicero, a startup that launched in 2016 with a $400 Wi-Fi-connected juicing machine. We used this in the Product Management class I took last semester as a classic case study of a new-to-market product that failed due to misaligned market perceptions and consumer value propositions. Initially marketed as a revolutionary device, it allowed users to make fresh juice at home by pressing proprietary, pre-packed fruit and vegetable pouches. However, the product's downfall was swift after some consumers found out that these pouches could easily be squeezed by hand, rendering the expensive machine unnecessary. This revelation not only became a big laugh among consumers but also served as a tipping point for Juicero, drastically undermining its value proposition. It seems to me that the failure of Juicero was primarily due to its utility being significantly out of touch with market realities. The market generally accepts products that either offer affordability to attract the masses or embody exclusivity to appeal to an elite or niche segment. Juicero did neither, failing to meet the practical needs or financial expectations of any specific consumer group.
Nevertheless, even when a product can successfully convey its value propositions in alignment with market and consumer perceptions, market entry can still face challenges and potentially lead to product diffusion failure. This reminds me of Webvan, an online grocery delivery service launched during the dot-com boom. At that time, a significant portion of the consumer base was not prepared to transition from traditional in-store grocery shopping to an online model. Today, however, the reluctance to order groceries online has significantly diminished, indicating that the demand for such services wasn't as misguided as in the case of Juicero, where the perceived utility could be fundamentally flawed. However, Webvan's strategy of targeting price-sensitive mass-market consumers rather than more profitable upmarket consumers made it extremely difficult to deliver what it promised, leading to a premature collapse of its value proposition. Had Webvan targeted the right beachhead market, it could have provided the necessary revenue and feedback to refine the service, improve operational efficiency, and iron out logistical challenges without as much cost sensitivity. The initial success could have then been leveraged to gradually expand into the broader, more price-sensitive market with a more polished and reliable service.
These two failures highlight for me the essential need for a value proposition that aligns with genuine consumer needs and the importance of selecting the right market segment for market entry. In all, successful product diffusion depends on addressing a clear customer problem and identifying eager early adopters who can validate and spread the product effectively.

How i meet your mother and the story of how Arya Maxson was concieved - Chapter 18
Im not doing fine, like 0 fine, absolutly horrible, I hate it, this days has been horrible
If you are very very very delighted with one fic and want a continuation I didn’t write or post you can donate me at least $5 bucks, most of this fics have next chapters I don’t finish because lack of motivation but hey a $5 is a $5, I see a few reviews and comments that fics that are abandoned months laters receive comments of wanting to know what happens next. Here it is, I finished my handling with you all, enjoy the fic
This time he wasn’t as defeated as the last time, he was confident, happy to tell everybody he was going to be the best dad ever with the most amazing woman he ever met
He was still late tho, intentional, to see if they fucking go home to mind their own business but they didn’t retire from the conference room at all.
Still, today he had the conversation prepared, in total control, nobody was going to mock at him, specially with the proof he now had…
He open the gate and enter like anything happened.
-Welcome to the quarterly meeting renamed into how Arthur Maxson knocked up his only sentinel? –said our dearly maester Maxson to everybody in the room with a shiny smile.
Silence.
Of course, nobody liked that
-Very funny Maxson –said one of the elders reunited, already prepared for his unnecessary sarcasm.
-We wanted to congratulate you personally on your pregnancy –said a second elder.
-Even tho we are a little late on dates…
-Don’t worry, I'm sure you alll wanted to make sure we made it through the first trimester without an abortion –said Arthur more spicy than he ever was in this room.
-Well yeah –said a third elder- basically –the first elder looked at him bad- why should we lie? –a fourth elder covered his face with his hands out of shame.
-We are glad the medical supplies you asked us arrived to the citadel safely –said the first elder- I was surprised when you asked
-I had plenty of confidence we would reach to the point were knowing the sex its necessary –reply Maxson
-A healthy girl, im excited to see her first blood samples to check on the mix of Noras blood and yours, maybe there’s no much difference and she inherits the good genes of her mother.
Gosh hopefully that’s the case.
-With the information you gave us the mother is in good state too –said a fifth elder- it’s a shame you retired her from the brotherhood so early, so much potential wasted, she had a good trajectory of service.
-On the contrary, we are planning on having kids until the last of her fertile years
Then everybody in the room busted in laughs
Wa-What did he say? What was so funny?
-Oh he is on that fase right now –said the second elder
-We all have been there
-Kiddo when the first son arrives its all stars and flowers
-But you want me to have more kids –repeated Arthur, more Maxson offspring
-More heirs to your last names if something happens to you or the first one, replacements–the fourth elder laugh. Ok that was just fucked up.
-You know how difficult it was to keep you alive as a kid? And you were the only one! You are alive and breathing by miracle practically
-So what’s the problem…-Arthur didn’t stand this people, they were pretty unpleasant.
-Eventually you will overpass the blooming fase of the first pregnancy –said another- but yeah I agree is a good idea to use until the last of her fertile years, she gave as much needed to the brotherhood service since the beginning, now she can serve…in some other fields…-not exactly as a woman since she didn’t have much future bearing children but yes as a clean adn genetic bank…while bearing children
Arthur didn’t like at all that comment it was disdainful and very disgusting about her.
-Please be extra careful with the radiation around, for pregnant woman its not just dosis of rad-x and that’s all, it can cause abortions or premature deliverys –the third elder spoke- I have a bad experience with that
-We heard she doesn’t exactly lives here in the citadel
-No, since she is retired having an outsider living in our barracks will be a mistake, right now its an exception because she is under medical treatment after…
-After her settlement was attacked –damn Maxson had to shut when they said that- we heard
-You should probably want to fix that Maxson –said the fourth elder- we appreciate her efforts after retirement to make the wastelands a safer place and even giving the brotherhood a space in Tenpenny Tower to rest and recharge energy’s but intervene so she doesn't get in trouble especially now, and for the next few years if she is really the woman you chose to have your offspring.
-Which we really encourage because she is a really good match for you in all senses–said the fifth sighting- she could at least keep the title for the records tho
-I was about to offer myself to court her in the last meeting if Maxson refused-oh boy if he rejected her Nora would accept this old gag? It wasn’t on the contrary on her intentions exactly, it could still serve her purposes of having resources to keep their child safe
-Oh please air comes when you jack off surely –the two elders were joking between them.
The fourth elder speak again- I just wanna say this because I think is important: the fact she ask to not be a sentinel anymore removes her obligations to the brotherhood and the codex, which is concerning for you Maxson - our dearly maester Maxson look at him- Her own place with her own obligations and problems seems like a good excuse to walk away and leave the father figure aside, we ask you to please be present so that does not happen, your children, your legacy, are more your responsibility than hers. Be careful with them.
It was obvious for everyone that they weren’t together romantically as a couple that’s for sure, but nobody was saying anything about it, maybe they see it as a benefit. Mother and father agree to be together and have the Maxson offspring until she cant bear more children. Both strong names with big inheritances and properties
That hit like a rock the bottom of his head: Then what? She will leave? Stop talking or asking help? No way, theyll have to raise them together, raising children takes a lot of time and if they plan to have many…
Its true anyway, he accepted losing her as a capable and excellent soldier and having her as a mother, and he expected her to be a good mother.
What happens after her 60s? sure she can go around to do works and missions surely because he knows her capacities but she will also have to take care of small children and teenagers with him…truth is he preferred his kids to have a complete family, he didn’t have the chance, he wanted to experience what a true complete family is, and be the protagonist if he could, be the father along with a mother, she has that experience, at least for a brief period of time, that’s why she looked for him.
-Like we said before –spoke the first elder at seeing Maxson disturbed- we are glad to have pictures of a future member of the family at this point, hope the next reunion is between crys and dirty diapers
Family? They aint his family
Arya is.
Nora stay in the citadel for three weeks until the bumps and scars on her scalp disappeared and her exams were much better. For Arthur it was like a dream, they did it like rabbits all days even if it wasn’t necessary because she was already pregnant, very pregnant, even the following transvaginal echography was perfect, there it was his princess, moving and eating, he was waiting eager and crazy for her first kicks!
Arya was a little behind in that regard, kicks starts at 4 or 5 months and she was nearly 6 now…but Arthur was happy that he was in good terms with her mom, he can enjoy this moments, the pregnancy was a thing of both parents after all
And gosh her tits were getting filled so quickly, the growing was so fun to see and play with in bed. Nora liked it a lot too
She even has leaks of…she says its more oils and water than milk but it fulfilled all his pregnancy kinks so bad, it tasted so good, poor Nora was pretty ashamed when her clothes get wet, she started wearing hoodies on top of her dresses to not be ridiculized. He said its fine no one would mock at the elders woman but understood what she mean and why she was emotional sometimes, he understand and did his best to cope with her raising hormones, its fine, he was happy to have her there at his side and she seems happy with the company too.
-Hey I have to tell you something -she told him in a moment of peace while sewing small holes in some stockings- I have to leave to Pittsburg for a week at least.
Wa Whyyyyy? Arthur looked at her very very disturbed.
-No way –he said sitting at her side trying to be as clear as possible- what in the world do you have to do there? –that nasty horrible place full of trogs and illness in the air…
-I have some errands to do in the forge –she said calmly- you don’t think my money machine is automatic don’t you?
-You are far too pregnant to risk yourself like that -said the man in denial.
-Well some issues in the forge requires my attention and presence
-That place is full of radiation everywhere, people gets sick just staying around
-Im aware –he raised his eyebrows and shoulders like asking-I now is a risk but I have to…
-No you don’t –Arthur was perplex- you don’t have to
-Im having a problem with my providers how do you expect…?
-I don’t know, send me, I can…-he truly was lost and didn’t know but the way she laughed at him was nasty-what’s so funny?
Cunt.
-What makes you think you know anything about my business? –she said with an innocent smile, appreciating his gesture- what I have to do at Pittsburg? –it was pure innocence from him, he really was nice
Its true, even if they expend a lot of time together he didn’t know her, he didn’t know her enough or even that much, they were almost strangers. Its like they agree to be parents and that’s all, its all what she wanted from him since the beginning.
She offer everything of herself for the opportunity to have his seed and he never asked anything.
-Well you can tell me or give me-he was interrupted
-Orders?
The word was instructions but…
-I don’t want you getting sick because of radiation.
- I'm also afraid of losing our baby if I go there-a hand of her pose on top of his, making him jump in his place- but I have to go for things to not fall apart.
-Please let me help you –their baby was too valuable to loose-im sure I can pay in caps whatever amount you are going to lose with that provider…-she laughed painfuly now.
-You don’t know anything at all –the hand over his pressed with her fingers- There are many problems that I decided to ignore since I became pregnant and that are now accumulating like a snowball falling down the slope, I have to go to solve them, to put my face and my presence, the image that I am still very alive and that no one can keep the forge
Arthur sucked air into his lungs to the stomach and breath out. Then look at the ceiling. Sometimes she was too far from him.
-Please be careful, you are not immune to radiation as you may think –she was strong, many levels above people, with perks and qualities most doesn’t have but that doesn’t make her inmortal, less Arya.
-I know, I still have to figure out a plan to avoid radiation to make me feel bad–much more affecting Arya, he crossed his eyebrows and use all his brain capacity to think.
-I suppose I can ask a team of scribes to modify an exoskeleton of a power armor to make the torso more bigger, it’s the only thing you grow, you are still thinn
-My feets doesn’t agree with that –the hand she was pressing was raised and moved to his lips where he leave a soft kiss- I have two sizes down before my first pregnancy, once your feets grow they stay like that, that’s why I don’t have a big collection of shoes
She was trying to diffuse the subject –Nora –he called, wanting her to pay attention-I really don’t want you to go there
He was thinking in all the horrible scenarios were something can happened to Arya.
-But I have to, theres also problems I promised to fix months ago…
-Please think in our daughter, I don’t want anything happening to her –does he really need to beg for her to not put in risk their baby?
-Obviously I don’t want neither –she didn’t like what he was implying- Im sorry
-Can I go with you? –she instantly denied with the head, like she knew that at any point he was going to ask that.
-Do you want to?
-Absolutely not but I want to protect Arya and…-that’s right, the only real connection they had together is their daughter, and if he protected their baby, he protected her.
-Im not a sentinel anymore I cant have brotherhood influence-Arthur interrupted her.
-Please that’s bullshit you have been sentinel and owner of the forge for 6 years now it doesn’t matter if there’s brotherhood presence…
-I cant –she simply said- I will not, you are an elder, I cant hide that from nobody
He almost wanted to cry, it seems like she planned this for a long time, she wasn’t backing up with anything.
-How can I prevent you from going? -what did I have to do? Lock her in a room at least until she gave birth to their daughter? That aint right.
-You can’t –she simply said, moving her hand to his cheek to caress it- I have to go and solve a lot of management and logistics problems
He stay in silence, his chest was trembling, he feared.
-Its going to be a long week –he knew she was lying, it was going to be more than a week, her missions never were short, she takes her time.
-Let me promise you something -for the first time he saw her falter in something, give in, was it due to something hormonal? Nora had never felt sorry for him nor had she felt sorry for him, she was not that type of person-in case of anything happens im sending a radio signal –he shaked his head amazed
-Of course if something happens you are going to radio for help you moron–now she place a finger in his lips, he didn’t like that, you just don’t shhhhhh the elder.
-Let me finish, once I feel Arya first kicks im sending a signal asking for elder Maxson to come immediately to Pittsburg
Well with that he can negotiate.
She hugged his head and Arthur lay his forehead on her chest, breathing, taking big breaths
-I wouldn’t want to miss that for anything in the world
-Ill be extra careful okay? –it didn’t matter, nothing matters.
-I cant stop you from going anyway.
He could choose to use violence, his power, there was nothing stopping him, she wasn’t a sentinel anymore, there wasn’t a rank subject and they weren’t married, if he retained her in a room or captured her it would be just the elder keeping hostage a civilian, big thing, he wished from the deepest darkness of his heart to do the impossible to stop her and…he woundt…for some reason he couldn’t understand, something was stopping him.
It wasn’t exactly his daughter, in fact the baby was consuming him into a void of darkness difficult to get out, making him wish for her mother to get hurt and impossible to move away from his side where she was safe. The other side of his mind was praying for her safety out there in the wastelands, it was inconvenient, even dangerous for his baby to trust in this woman, but the other side of his mind cared.
He cared.
Knew all the negative things she had and still cared. And if by some reason, crazy reason, she asked for help, he was ready for it.
Arthur only hoped this didn’t hurt much to any of them
