The Enigma of Nine
A Metaphysical Exploration into the Significance of a Singular Number In the vast expanse of numbers and their mathematical precision, there lies a mystical depth, a metaphysical dimension that transcends their apparent functionality and dives into realms of deeper significance. During our conversation with Steve James on Guru Viking, I ventured into the enigmatic world of the number nine,…

I finished watching a playthrough of mouthwashing today and it reminded me exactly why I love psychological horror. Horror based in the supernatural and unreal is fun, but there’s nothing more chilling than when it’s so grounded in reality that you know it could happen to anyone. While the game is based in space, that kind of workplace abuse and absolutely evil people like Jimmy do exist. And playing as Jimmy just reminds you of it. I think it’s the autonomy which makes it more terrifying. With supernatural horror, you’re not in control, you’re not to blame. A character gets possessed or summons a demon, but the character doesn’t directly do anything. It’s detached. However when the horror comes from humanity, you know deep down anyone could be like Jimmy, and there’s no ghost or spirit or curse to explain it. Some people are pure fucking evil and believe they’re right. They believe they’re taking responsibility. And no amount of literal or figurative mouthwash is gonna get rid of what they’ve done.
#I don’t know how much sense that made but the game is very profound to me#I love all the symbolism and the theme of taking responsibility was so unique#there aren’t many games/ pieces of media that force the player to be a bad person but it’s such an intriguing concept#it’s a reminder of how fucking awful humanity is without any kind of supernatural intervention#mouthwashing game#mouthwashing

I don’t think the markings on a frost giant’s skin actually mean or represent anything I think they’re just randomly in place. I understand it’s cool to make them mean something. But it’s funnier if they don’t.
#like I’ll joke about it and make HCs but if we’re serious I don’t think there is any significance to them#I don’t think it’s a lineage thing at all#there is no crown symbolism there#it’s a bunch of lines#like how some people have freckles and moles and sunspots and stretchmarks#it’s a random thing they’ve got to me#and everyone wanting there to be some meaning in it is REALLY funny#like people analysing some ancient text and wondering what profound words have been transcribed#and it’s the word ‘nut’

There's a neat bit of foreshadowing/symbolism in Arcane s1 e3 that I noticed.
The first shot we see after Jayce and Viktor successfully harness hextech for the first time is of Viktor's broken cain that he was using to barricade the door.
In the moment that it happens, this represents Viktor and Jayce's discovery of Hextech being more important than Viktor's status as a Zaunite cripple. It's a follow-through of Viktor's assertion that through believing in himself he was able to climb higher than he thought possible.
That said, I think that Viktor's mobility aids can be interpreted as representing Viktor's own state of being. I say this because Viktor's crutch in S1 A2 is used as a visual indicator that his disease has progressed. Alongside that, when Viktor's transformed by the Hexcore, his crutch changes with him.

It changes from a crutch to a walking stick, showing that this form is far more able-bodied than it was previously.
It also shifts again post act 2 timeskip.
This time, it doesn't even resemble his old crutch, which is visual shorthand for how Viktor himself changed in that time. Since it doesn't resemble a mobility aid at all this time, we can assume that Viktor is now comfortable in his new form.
Perhaps it even indicates that he's losing some of his connection with humanity given how Jayce's final speech in episode 9 basically equated Viktor's disability with his humanity. I think it could also communicate some of Viktor's resentment regarding his disease since having a magic staff that looks like a crutch probably reminds him of his disability.
This tracks with the final design of his staff, which he doesn't even use like a walking stick. His act 2 staff at least has the D shape at the top that vaguely resembled his crutch but his final staff is all twisty and spirally because it's not a mobility aid, and Viktor isn't really human anymore.
Going back to the original scene where the cane broke with this interpretation means that the breaking of the cane foreshadows how Viktor will lose his humanity because of the magic he just helped discover.
#not-a-post#arcane#viktor arcane#arcane analysis#arcane? more like Viktor's cane#not that i necessarily think that correlating somebody's terminal illness with their humanity is a particularly good thing#but the cane symbolism is cool nonetheless#there's probably something really profound to say about the bit in s2e7 where Jayce needed a brace and mobility aid with this interpretation#but this post has been in my drafts for too long so imma just post it as is#also resisting the urge to tag this jayvik because in reality this post was only about viktor#but i was thinking about jayvik when i wrote it i promise

dang, I really missed an opportunity not giving Charis a carabiner with like 30 keys for different places across town. The aesthetic of having jingly jangly keys and keychains is peak 👌 and the irony of it would’ve been so funny
#roadie rambles#overmorrow tfs#overmorrow misc#charis oc#it would’ve gone so well with his og outfit I think. like the 2 belts were already there I could’ve slapped a carabiner on too#and something something deeply profound thought of him symbolically carrying the entire town on his person themes symbolism yada yada#also iirc there’s something also inherently queer about carabiners so that would’ve been a fun hint too#eph: you know I can open this for you right?#charis who’s been struggling to find the right key for 5 min: shhhHH I’ve almost got it!! it’s this one for sure!!!

Xingqiu fans are dining excellently with all the references to him and lore regarding the Guhua Clan being spotlighted via Chenyu Vale's "A Wangshan Walk to Remember." The comparisons that can be made between Xingqiu and his predecessors is also very fascinating...
The Grand Master Guhua truly did live out the life of idealized dignity and transparency just as Xingqiu desires for himself. There's something very touching and heartbreaking about the fact that Guhua's life was one deemed heroic, but he was only able to have his legacy carried on by Boxuan who cast his own name aside to exhalt the name of the deceased Guhua.
And then right after briefly recounting the life and works of Master Guhua, Wen brings up Xingqiu, reemphasizing the lofty ideal/hope that he can respark the dying flame of the Guhua (no pressure) and potentially act as a parallel to the founder of the art himself. It's made all the more poignant, considering that we could easily draw the connection that Chongyun could be considered Xingqiu's potential Boxuan equivalent, a fellow young practitioner of martial arts who acts as a peer and supporter of Xingqiu's arts (although lets hope Xingqiu doesn't die preemptively like Guhua did).
I don't have snippets of the dialogue for it or screenshots, but those books in the archive room were just so lovely to see. The fact that many of the old disciples of Guhua were just nerds like Xingqiu and enamored with wuxia novels, shelving their discussions of them among all of the records they held in their library was so sweet.
Additionally, the person who invented the Rain Cutter technique that Xingqiu uses now was the one involved with the hidden Wangshan chambers that had the really forboding message about the heavens rejecting humanity and whatnot... very mysterious stuff.
Additionally, those 5 swords scattered around Chenyu Vale, the first of which you find at the outskirts of the Wangshan Chamber....while not necessarily all individuals of the Guhua Clan, it made me oddly emotional to see how the years that went by, depicted by each sword's material- from a blade to a crude sword shaped stick- and yet they all had in common a very poetic observation of their goals and the world about them that could easily flow as a singular nature/travelling-based poem. And that spirit of poetry intertwined with swordsmanship flourishing across the ages still continues on with this one dorky rich boy. It's honestly wonderful worldbuilding, that through environmental storytelling and the mere mentions of a character who was never even present for the entirety of the world quest, all of these stories and records of Guhua disciples and swordsmen before him tell me all I need to know about Xingqiu as a character, too.
#definitely would like to do more rereading of the texts within the Guhua library + those weird inscriptions#these lore drops were so cool#currently caught up in the profound nature of multiple generations united in their love for art- poetry- swordplay- idealism of heroism etc#the joy of community but also the loss of having a space in which your passions can be taken seriously and allow you to grow into the#desired version of yourself#the fact that xingqiu is considered a light in the darkness for the current Guhua elders yet he practices his art as part of a double life#all while the wangshan chamber crumbles- very symbolic#suppression and isolation kills passion#genshin impact meta#semi incoherent most likely as I am sleepy but I had to get my thoughts out#genshin impact#genshin 4.4#genshin 4.4 spoilers#xingqiu#a wangshan walk to remember

In The Wildflowers | Hadassah B. Well
Short Story / 2022
In the wildflowers, he sat. There was no moon to illuminate the single tree in the field, no moon to cast warped shadows on the ground. Stars. Just stars. Only stars. Blooming all around him. They were not what he was looking for. Facing east, he waited. For hours he waited, eagerly searching the horizon.
He waited…
and waited…
and waited,
all for her.
Just for her.
Sometimes she never came. Other times she would be barely visible. His favorite nights are when she is full of confidence: mesmerizing. He could see her and only her– the rest of the field was not of importance anyway.
Sometimes he couldn’t contain his excitement and rose to dance with her. How he longed to dance with her throughout the night! But every time he began to rise he could not find her by the time he had reached where she had stood. So he set himself back down and he waited. Even if he ran, his feet striking and striding as fast as he could, she would be gone. It pained him to circle her almost every night. All he wanted was to reach her.
It always took him hours to cross the field. It did not matter if he ran or walked. It seemed endless; like it was forever expanding. The flowers were infinite and bright, but he never could seem to touch them, even though they were right at his feet. Sometimes when trying to reach the end he would look back and see her, waiting, a great distance away, back where he had started. But when he changed directions, she seemed to drift further.
As hopeless as it seemed, he always reminded himself of the one night they danced. For as long as he could remember, he had longed to dance with her. Under the only tall and towering tree in the field, they met each other at last. Everything around them went dark, but they were light. So light. Blinding, beautiful light. As they danced, he felt himself waning. Her beauty seemed to shift with each turn they took. As she bobbed and weaved around the field with him, her long and beautiful curls would straighten and curl, straighten and curl, her rich, dark skin becoming slightly lighter, then back to normal. Eventually, he noticed the shift was happening with him too. His skin would lose its gold, then return. His hair would shimmer and then dull. But it didn’t matter to them. On and on they danced. All around the field, like time didn’t depend on them. He never wanted to stop. Never wanted to forget the feel of her silky dress occasionally brushing his leg. Never wanted to forget his hand in hers. Never wanted to forget a single second of his one and only dream turned true.
So why couldn’t he remember the moments after this memory? He remembered dancing, and then nothing. Was his will not strong enough? Was it a dream? A strange twist of fate?
No.
He spent his days reflecting on this. Under the tree, he thought about this tantalizing memory. The tree was his shelter. It grew high above the ground, with ancient, low-hanging limbs that seemed to carry centuries on their branches. Long, healthy vines hung down and shrouded around him, creating a screen for him to hide from the emptiness around him.
One day, he saw her again. But it wasn’t right. She was closer. But she was fighting something, being pulled back by some invisible force. The flowers around her were being dragged back too. Her hand was outstretched, straining, begging. He ran towards her. And ran, and ran. He ran faster than he had ever before. His light, his life, his complement, was being torn away. His heart was burning. His lungs were straining. He breathed desperately, painfully, through large gasps. He crushed the retreating wildflowers with his feet. Five-point petals– unrecognizable. She was finally getting closer. He felt as though he was being pulled towards her, or maybe he was.
He reached her, but could not stop himself. It wasn’t momentum. He too, was being pulled. He looked down.
A large hole, a sinkhole, its insides black and churning, had formed in the ground. The flowers were being pulled into it. They circled around and around, stretching infinitely, smaller and smaller. Never had he seen anything quite like it. Nothing at all. He felt his hope being destroyed.
He was scared. He was confused. He was losing his shine.
He watched as the tree, the host, creation, was ripped brutally from the ground. Its roots groaned, leaves screamed, and branches strained. The center of everything.
He was losing her.
Creation. Hope.
Down the drain. Destroyed.
He fell in. She did too.
They found each other’s hands.
Time passed slowly, or quickly.
They couldn’t tell.
Stars spun and spiraled around them.
A tug.
She flinched.
He braced.
It was going to hurt.
A tug, sharp, urgent, beckoning them downwards.
Then, there was nothing.
He could feel her hand, but he could not see.
There was nothing.
He could not hear anything except his own pounding heart.
There was nothing.
He wished for anything
and then
something;
There was something.
He saw something.
A vortex of light, hurtling towards them. Or were they hurtling towards it?
A blinding flash:
Something.
He opened his eyes.
The first thing he saw was the dark.
He was floating in nothingness.
In front of him, behind him, above him, below him, next to him: stars.
So many stars.
He saw the tree, he watched it curl, press, shrink.
Blue and green and white swirled. The host. Creation.
Earth.
It rolled off his tongue.
Life.
From behind Earth, the Moon peered. He saw her, his heart saw her– yet he could not move.
She saw him.
He wanted to call out to her. He could not will himself too.
Sun, she called him, breaking the eternal silence.
Moon, he called her, longing for more than words.
He wanted to dance. In the Wildflowers ~ Hadassah B. Well Author's Notes
A long time ago, I was inspired by a writing prompt to write an entire story in the passive voice. So I started to write a story about a boy sitting in a field. However, as the story continues, it's obvious I gave up on that very quickly. In fact, I tried avoiding writing in passive voice by using my style of short, incomplete sentences. (Yes, my writing style breaks the rules of writing. However, I think it makes my writing all the more better). Eventually, I just changed the story to a few paragraphs about flowers, the two characters, and a lot of symbolism. It remained that way up until the due date (this story was originally for the Scholastic Writing Awards). I had little to no motivation to write as I was in a mental funk. Funnily enough, I decided to submit it, driven by the fear and embarrassment of what people would think if I didn’t submit something. I ended up writing and revising the entire story in the submission box the night it was due. When I was done, I had to copy the text in order to save it with my other writings. When I decided to add this work to my portfolio, I gave it a loving revamp. I gave the story concept its well-deserved details and care. As a result, it ended up becoming one of my favorite works of literature I’ve ever written. I tried to go for the themes of ‘creation story’ and ‘unbounded love.’

The parallels of Emmy and "Raven"
spoilers for Azran legacy and Armored Core 6
You all know who Emmy is, but let me introduce you to my pal "Raven" or the closest we have to their real name: C4 621. In Armored Core 6, you play as an "augmented human" sold to their handler to fulfill his purposes on Rubicon through mercenary work, with promises of undoing their de-humanizing surgery after the purpose has been fulfilled.
"Wake the dog up" is the first thing they hear as they descend into Rubicon's atmosphere, first order of business being to scrounge around for an inconspicuous merc license to steal. This is how you earn the name "Raven" on Rubicon; by swiping it off of some poor sap's abandoned machine.
As you progress through the game, making friends and plenty of foes, you learn more about what your handler really plans, as well as the origin of your stolen name. "Raven" is apparently a callsign that's passed down through generations of pilots, who all pride themselves on the freewill they have as independent mercenaries. Such a name doesn't seem so fitting for our pilot.. or does it?
In the last chapter, you are given a choice to either pursue your handler's original intentions, or to go directly against them. This isn't such an easy choice to make. You may just be his hound, but you were one in which he respected and stuck up for. A comradery was formed between you and him, along with his allies who helped you escape from certain death. They've done all of this to prevent what could spiral into a catastrophe for humanity that spreads even beyond this star system. "Will you really be the one to ruin all of that?"
This sentence echoes in her mind.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You See It. Leon saved her and raised her as his own daughter as described in Emmy's letter yadyadya, it was done "to gain superior knowledge and power that could change the world" n stuff. I also like to throw in that he was probably hoping for technology that could revive Rachel as an extra motive (they DID reverse the gang's death so he would've been onto something). "It was never for money or fame" She keeps throwing these excuses around in her head, hoping for the best. Hoping that it will all go to plan and that MAYBE... She could finally have her uncle back? In the end, she chose the fires of raven ending. :'[
BUT WHAT IF... She didn't! The boss I will pit her against is fought on the route you take only when you go against your handler's orders! Plunging that laser dagger into Balteus's frame will, quite ironically, mirror her preventing the dagger from ever reaching Aurora's chest.
As I try to think of a name for her mech we made, I like to keep these parallels in mind. Knowing this fight will be a victory for Emmy the moment she decides that this will be the path she takes.
#emmymechpoll#wow i think this is the most profound post i've made on this blog#did you like my first essay!?!#I've watched a video covering the names of character's mechs in ac6 and discovered#there is so. much. MEANING. behind them all. Fromsoft are geniuses!!!#This only reinforced my wanting for a meaningful name for her mech#I've been thinking about canary as a name (hi thyme o/) to parallel the bird theme of raven#but canary explicitly goes against the freedom that a raven symbolizes#so it doesn't thematically match with what this boss fight will mean for her#still open for suggestions tho. maybe this could inspire you?

Forget favourite colours and aesthetics, tell me what personal thematic motifs and symbols you love using in your life?
The beautiful thing about art, is you can find meaning in anything. What I want to know, is what you find meaning in the most.

I did not realize the boy and the heron was the new ghibli film, I thought that short story where that boy leaves his disabled younger brother to die in a thunderstorm just went viral for no reason at all
#tbh i dont remember if its a heron in that story because i read it in like 4th grade#its some large red bird and the symbolism was lost on me but that kid letting his brother die because he didnt like him was unforgettable#just like that story where everyone lives on venus and a group of kids leave the one outcast girl to die in the acid rain during recess#no context for these stories just the profound impact of the concept of premature death#i feel like for such serious messages these stories tried to teach. i did not understand them very well at all#even though we read them together as a class and discussed them. i dont think i understood any better because of it

OK FOLLOWING UP ON THE BARD THING i think eichi definitely invited wataru to perform at a noble party before. because they'd usually have musicians and so? so ok picture this. it's eichi's birthday so his parents want him to hold a ball and he usually thinks those are annoying but then he gets an idea. make it a masquerade (for the drama). invite wataru as both a performer And his partner for the ball. he's an actor! and everyone is of course impressed by wataru's performance but they're even more impressed because the always polite but unreachable tenshouin heir is expertly dancing with a masked stranger (i love the fact that eichi's specialty in his profile is ballroom dancing). and then they're annoying and overdramatic in public together but no one can figure out Who That Is
and also i know you said that shu was a tailor but i think it would be funny if he also were a noble (his family is also of high standing in canon i think) so he can be there to judge eichi. harshly. i havent figures out yet how to make him besties w wataru but ! it can work
!!!!
This got soooo long again so this is once more put under read more I am so sorry
The idea with the Masquerade comes up while Eichi complains to Wataru about his parents pretty much forcing him to throw a ball for his upcoming birthday (they already planned the whole thing and didn't reallly give him a choice in the matter) and how much of a hassle he thinks that is because of all the superficial politeness between people that everyone knows are gossipping about each other behind each others backs and how sick he is of the pretending to be well acquainted with these people he's talked to maybe once or twice and all the ladies that wish to dance with him and that want to suck up to him because of his families wealth and how really this is all just one big farce to "save face". So Wataru suggests "why not make it a masquerade ball" to spice things up a little bit maybe, take some of the stiffness out of it. And Eichi says he wants to invite Wataru because what's a public event without proper entertainment? Wataru agrees of course and they come up with all of these overly grandiose ideas and scenarios (most of them are utterly absurd. One they genuinely consider involves Wataru pretending to kidnap Eichi and causing a scandal (Eichi woud miraculously reappear the next day and they'd gaslight everyone into thinking that never even happened and all the people are just imagining things)).
Wataru mentions that he'll be gone for an evening to play at the noble's ball to the elderly inn-keeper couple over dinner and they make a really big fuss about it and tell him to dress nicely and to watch his manners because "Remember, you can't just drop from the ceiling with those high society people like we let you do it here they're very sensitive about manners you have to make sure to watch your manners!" and for a minute he wonders how it got to the point that his landlords started to treat him like they personally picked him up from the street when he was a child.
I like to think he met Shu when he was out on the street doing a little street performance to earn some extra money for himself and Shu, the way that he is, came by, looked him up and down, and then started a conversation with him about music as an art form and that somehow turned into a philosophical discussion and at the end of that they each went their own ways with the knowledge that there was a new friendship formed that day.
And maybe he's the one that sews Watarus clothes for the ball because if you spent most of your life as a traveling bard living hand to mouth from your music you won't really have the money for fancy clothes (Eichi still insists on paying for Wataru here because he wouldn't need to spend so much money on fancy ballgowns if it wasn't for him in the first place and also he just wants to treat Wataru to something nice and sees this as his chance seeing as Wataru declines most gift offers me made before). Wataru tells him about the entire thing and Shu scoffs because dislikes Eichi (still need to come up with a way to explain that disdain but I will come up with something trust me!) but his parents force him to be there too so "he might as well" (it's obvious he still puts in a lot of care "because of his pride as an artists" (because Wataru is his friend and he wants him to have something nice)).
Shu only has to be there because his family guilt trips him into going and he doesn't see the point in opening that can of worms again ("We already let you pursue your foolish dream of sewing clothes like a commoner this is the least you could do for your family.")
And then at the actual event he's in some secluded corner together with some other people who only attended as a mere formality because they also do not like the Tenshouin family but they have to be there because they're important and aristocrat politics are weird that way I suppose.
Meanwhile Wataru does his usual thing and charms everyone with his beautiful beautiful voice and his elegance and charm and oh he is so agreeable as a performer. Eichi has to handle the usual "pleasantries" (nothing pleasant about those tries) and he exchanges the one or the other suffering glance with Yuzuru when nobody pays attention that just screams "God when will it end". Yuzuru shoots him back a look that conveys the exact emotion of "my condolences" and then he goes on to look for Tori who's 1.53m figure has disappeared in the group of people and when he finds him he's talking to a gentleman that's about a head taller than him and the mask obscures his face but judging by the hair and the slight "animosity" between them he's talking to Tsukasa, so Yuzuru decides he's in good hands and leaves to do his own thing. (do they know they're talking to each other? Who knows! But they'd probably manage to start bickering either way.)
And eventually it gets to the actual Ball bit of the Birthday Ball Event where they actually dance (there's an actual orchestra there now and they play very lovely music). And almost everyone asks to dance with Eichi at least once. Eichi does not want to waste his time and energy on these people who are just interested in him for his money so he always makes up something about being preoccupied or a little tired or something that gives them no other choice but to back off. Suddenly Wataru appears behind him and does a little "boo!" and Eichi didn't expect that so he startles and almost drops his glass and tells Wataru not to do that anymore at public eventshas while Wataru has to stiffle a laugh because he thinks Eichi is cute when he pretends to try to be firm with him. After he's done with his "scolding" (you can barely call it that. he was very soft on Wataru.) Wataru asks him for a dance this time and he's very chivalrous about it - he goes all out really - he kisses his hand and offers him a rose while he does a little bow and asks if he "may have this dance with the lovely star of the evening" (and oh Eichi wants to kiss him so bad right then and there but in a room full of people that are worse than a committee of vultures that is very much not an option). Of course he agrees and they move to the dance floor and suddenly a Lot of eyes are on them because Eichi Tenshouin, whom a good chunk of pursuers have already given up on - because let us be real. It will never happen. The man hasn't shown interest in anyone at any moment in time and lives together with the Himemiya heir and his butler as far removed from the rest of the aristocracy as one would be able to - is waltzing with this masked stranger and it becomes very obvious very quickly that Eichis constant declining of dance offers was not for a lack of expertise because those two look breathtaking together.
Eichi actually dips Wataru once and some people wish they had hired an artist to paint the scene (because I'm a sap and wataei is beautiful I don't care I'm being self indulgent here)). And they talk but nobody can understand what because of the loud music and they curse the orchestra - which is still playing very lovely music (it's heavenly really) - for it.
After their dance is over Eichi goes back to declining every dance offer he gets with the excuse he's exhausted and needs to rest a little before he can dance again (the "I don't wish to dance with you" is implied and in the room but most people chose to ignore it to spare their ego and decide to take him at face value) and Wataru disappears to somewhere, nobody really knows where but somehow he's nowhere to be found. Until he sneaks up to Eichi a second time and does the whole "Boo!" thing again and Eichi almost drops his glass yet another time and as he turns around to "scold" Wataru again Wataru shushes him and takes Eichis, who is more confusedd than anything by now, hand and sneaks out of the ballroom with him.
Eichi asks where they are going and Wataru doesn't answer he just keeps walking and Eichi decides to just trust the process and suddenly they're on the Balcony again, not a cloud in the sky and the only sounds to be heard are the muffled instrumentals from the orchestra that started playing their next piece. The only lightsource being the moonlight reflected by the new years snow. And Wataru turns around, he's not wearing a mask anymore, and he does his little bow and kisses Eichis hand, hands him a rose he had appear from nowhere - a white one this time - and does his entire "May I have this dance with the lovely star of the evening" spiel again. It's the same routine really but it's different somehow. More intense. Because he says it with more sincerity than he did when they were around more people. And Eichi doesn't even have to reply before he finds himself whisked into this waltz yet again, somehow in the leading position. And then they dance and they dance and it's just the two of them, the stars as their only witnesses. And as the orchestra finishes their piece and the music fades out Eichi dips Wataru again and they kiss and it is so sappy and they are so so so so sappy.
They stay out on the balcony a little while longer but they retreat back inside rather timely seeing as it is still january and the night and as the following consequence of those two circumstances actually pretty cold and they'd both rather Eichi not get sick (he already got Watarus coat but then they'd also both like it very much if Wataru also didn't get sick either so they migrate back into the empty, dimly lit hallways of the mansion rather quickly)
(meanwhile at the actual ball people have noticed Eichi missing and started to ask questions, poor Yuzuru has to repeatedly tell people Eichi probably retreated into his quarters already, seeing as it is rather late and he was rather tired "Please excuse the young master for his failing in notifiying the other guests, he told me he didn't wish to interrupt the nice atmosphere and preferred to leave unnoticed".)
After the festivities died down Yuzuru and Tori go to check up on Eichis room because he's been gone without any notice and it would probably be useful to know if their kind-of-roommate just went away to fool around with that strange bard man they've been seeing sneaking around their mansion from time to time that Eichi seems to be oddly fond of or if the should actually be worried about his well-being. After they knock and get no reply Yuzuru just opens the door and he and Tori are both greeted with the view of Eichi asleep in his bed and next to him the also seemingly fast asleep figure of Wataru who's braid got considerably more lose during the course of the evening and who's also seemingly wearing some of Eichis sleepwear.
They both decide they have seen enough they do neither need nor wish to see more. Yuzuru, who has been in this situation before doesn't even have it in him anymore to react in a specific way. He just lets out this big sigh because he doesn't get paid enough for all of this as he directs Tori out of the room. Tori who has not been in this situation before has a Lot of questions now because he doesn't know this man but he's apparently closer to Eichi than most other people and he doesn't know how to feel about that but happy is probably not it.
(The following day Eichi has to listen to a (rightfully) disgruntled Yuzurus passive-agressive-yet-somehow-still-very-polite-sounding-Yuzuru-complaints about him just disappearing like that and leaving it to Yuzuru to take care of his mess (Eichi promises him to make up for it and that if Yuzuru has any favour to ask he's very welcome to come to Eichi about it). Tori really wants to ask about the strange man Eichi was so involved with but between not really getting a word in while Eichi and Yuzuru are talking and not really knowing how to take the exceedigly good mood Eichi is in (he's had "A very nice evening". With utmost certainty it was for reasons other than him actually enjoying the mingling witht the high society at social function he was obligated to host, Tori guesses), he kind of clinks out here and decides to simply take matters into his own hands when he gets the chance.)
#never let me write anything about them ever again#this got so long again I really just wrote my heart out huh#can you believe I actually researched flower language for this#in the middle I remembered that January is actually really cold at night so maybe I should switch up my approach a little#hm. did that work out? you got "i, carrion (icarian)" by hozier.
what i'm learning from this exercise is that i am not immune to a bridge bc that's the most powerful part of the song to me:
I do not have wings, love I never will Soaring over a world you are carrying If these heights should bring my fall Let me be your own Icarian carrion
i've said before that this is one my major tim drake songs and that remains true, though it's also just one of my favorite hozier songs too
#ask meme#no one ever tell hozier i take his deeply profound symbolic and referential songs and say “wow just like tim drake” i'd kms
