Given Stroud trashed the place in another series, I wonder what happened to the British Museum in L&Co. That place has got to be turbo haunted. Did people panic and burn it down? Did they go through the expense of encasing every artifact in silver glass and now they've got stolen artifacts and stolen spirits on display? Is the whole area cordoned off? (In which case Marissa definitely re-stole everything and tossed it into her hell portal for a double dose of imperialism.) If they returned everything, most of the haunting would probably stop, but would even a massive vengeful ghost infestation convince the British to return the shit they stole? Doubtful. They'd probably fall back on the old 'they don't have proper storage facilities' chestnut except for ghost control instead of artifact preservation.

Note: Lockwood and co was not what I expected, it was so much better. I am seriously in awe of everything in this series. Sure, It is not exactly like the books. Some parts were removed like the Ghost covered in rats ( that would have been really scary and awesome to see). But those changes didn't affect the plot.
I was initially disappointed when Lockwood did not get ghost-touched. But to make up for that, the showrunners added in a lot more whumpy scenes as evident in this list.
Go and watch this show. Please . It is an amazing, well-done and the showrunners obviously put in lots of research and effort. If there is a season 2, I'm very confident that will be just as amazing as the first season and also just as whumpy.

George: The Best of Us
Tumblr media
Can’t start this one off without acknowledging that George Cubbins and George Karim do have some differences, so I’ll be looking a bit at both of them. But I agree with Lucy’s characterization of George: he’s the best of them. Warning: mild book spoilers follow.
We don’t have a lot of background from George’s early life. We know he comes from a loving family and still visits them.  George Karim mentions having a granny in Sidcup and three older brothers who are all engineers. (This is a bit funny, because he talks about his family as “engineer, engineer, engineer, weirdo”, and if you’ve ever met an engineer, you realize that there really isn’t a difference among the 4 of them.) Anyway, we know from the books that George Cubbins has a mum who has given Lockwood at least one tea cozy (it’s used to cover Skull at one point) and by extension, likely other gifts as well. So, they’re obviously loving and supportive.
Tumblr media
We know that George once worked for Fittes.  Little is made of George’s Talent, other than Lockwood mentioning that George has the Touch, but obviously he had enough of it to get a job at the premier psychical investigation agency in the country.  In fact, he only left Fittes after being fired for being too curious; Ms. Fittes must have realized that if anyone were going to uncover the truth about the Problem, it would be George. The oversight of George’s Talent is likely because it is overshadowed by his intelligence and research skills, which are formidable.
George has the ability to do a deep dive into the history of nearly any topic or place. He has an indefatigable willingness to visit churches, libraries, and any place necessary to uncover the details of a location’s history, thus cluing his teammates into possible sources. They'd really be blundering around in the dark without his guidance. Doing research itself is a skill; knowing how to cross reference topics, knowing all the different words and phrases possible for the same topic throughout the ages, catching the minute details that link people, places, and objects together. And it’s a skill George does better than any other character that either readers or viewers meet in the Lockwood & Co universe. George can make the inferential leaps that others are blind to, and he does it intuitively and quickly, leaving others behind in the dust. Take the theft of the bone glass at Kensal Green. Lockwood and Lucy have a little role play, talking through how the thief may have made their way into the chapel - then- crime scene.  They are able to build off each other’s ideas to come up with a hypothesis, and go off to check it…only to find George already there, having already come to this conclusion on his own. In fact, George is used to working on his own, something that will set him up to be hurt later.
George and Lockwood obviously have an incredibly deep friendship, one based on mutual respect and understanding.  Lockwood appreciates George. He understands that George doesn’t think about things and people the way others do, and has no desire to change George. He values George’s differences. George respects Lockwood, too.  He recognizes Lockwood’s reckless nature, the darkness within him, but he doesn’t challenge Lockwood on it. At one point he criticizes Lucy for not stopping Lockwood from going to the Hope house without the research having been completed (“You’re meant to stop him, Lucy”), but he’s guilty of the same thing the night they go wraith hunting while Lucy is recovering from her initial interaction with Skull.  He accuses Lockwood of not giving him time to properly do the research, but obviously, he went along with Lockwood anyway. Also, his trust in Lockwood is absolute. When bad press starts coming after the Hope house fire, Lockwood says, "I'll handle it" and George just says, "Ok". He doesn't ask how; he accepts at face value that if Lockwood says he'll handle it, he will.
Tumblr media
Over time, George and Lucy grow close, as well. He truly appreciates their blossoming friendship ("She's really starting to get me"). His concern for her behavior in the bath is genuine. (side note: I have a hc that George's parents found him in the bath as a young child with his clothes on and told him, gently, that this was Not Normal, and that's why he says the same to Lucy, later.) Anyway, he sees the ache in her, the need for belonging that he also sees in his best friend. He recognizes that the two will complement each other, and becomes her unfailing advocate from that point forward.
George may not be touchy-feely, but he definitely believes in acts of service. He cooks, and maintains 35 Portland Row, he keeps the books and files because Lockwood doesn't have the patience to do so, and he manages much of the logistics of the Agency. Lockwood and Lucy rely on him to the point of advantage; they don't even comment on how much he does until they suddenly realize they haven't packed the chains, or re-ordered flares. He balances their impulsivity. He considers risk and consequences, protecting them from themselves.
Tumblr media
A lot is made of what appears to be some neurodivergence in George, wonderfully acted by Ali Hadji-Heshmati.  He’s awkward with eye contact, and speaks his mind a little too freely.  He has little affect; Lucy can tell more about his mood by how he cleans his spectacles than by tone of voice or facial expression. He obviously is touch-sensitive: he prefers not wearing trousers, and when he does, they’re loose and baggy. Even his kit belt is different to the others; Lockwood and Lucy wear stiff leather kit belts, but George’s is a kind of mesh. (Combine that with psychic ability linked to Touch, and realize what a tough go of it George must have had growing up.) I really like that all of these aspects of George’s character are just that; they’re not highlighted, he’s not made into some kind of token neurodivergent character.  He’s just…George. His strengths and differences are appreciated as much as any other character’s.
The combination of George's research skill and different manner of thinking combine to make him susceptible to obsessive behaviors. He is, of every other character in the series, the only one who is actively trying to SOLVE the Problem. Everyone else is caught up in reacting to it. George sees the big picture, that the agencies are losing, giving ground to the seemingly unstoppable onslaught of Visitors. He realizes that the only way to stop the Problem is to find its source, to prevent more Visitors from coming, rather than to just keep trying to eliminate the ones they find, one at a time. The obsession is a point of weakness capitalized upon by Joplin & the bone glass. George's tendency to do the work alone isolates him from his team and leaves him vulnerable. An important part of his character arc is to recognize how his skills dovetail with those of his teammates to create a unified front of strength and efficacy. Once he does so, he also uncovers the cause of the Problem, and thus, a way to potentially control it.
Tumblr media
What I find most admirable about George is his bravery.  In the books, George Cubbins is described quite unfavorably by Lucy as having a face that begged to be slapped and a backside in need of a well placed kick. George Cubbins is described as slovenly, appearing not to own a comb, with a completely disorderly room.  George Karim, on the other hand, stress cleans.  He may not be one to dress up, but he seems not to suffer from the hygiene issues of his literary counterpart.
However, none of this bothers George, because he doesn’t care much about how others look on the surface. He doesn’t worry about his own outward appearance because he hopes others will judge him in the way he judges them: by their actions, by who they are inside.  In fact, Skull (who mostly sees only a person’s inner self, what will eventually become their plasm if they become Visitors after death, and which I interpret to be a soul) notes that only himself and George are able to see past surface distractions to the truth of a person. It's part of why he's able to see past Flo's ghost trauma and recognize her intelligence, bravery, skill, and freedom.
George is unapologetically himself. In the final book, when Sir Rupert and his goons are targeting the smaller agencies and assaulting agents on the streets, George is the only one of Lockwood & Co to stand up to Sir Rupert’s bullying. He is unafraid to be out at any time of day or night, and has complete faith in his own ability to defend himself. He speaks his mind because he knows he has the ability to back it up, if necessary.  He is criminally overlooked by most people who meet him, but George is intelligent, brave, loyal, skilled, possesses a sharp and witty sense of humor, and is the glue that holds his agency together.  He really is, as Lucy says, the best of them.

London Boy
Part 2
I found myself under a pile of bills. Utility bills, water bills, rent, things that needed to be paid but I don't even have a single penny to feed myself .
This small precious dream of mine is costing my life but I can't back out right now.
Six months ago I ran away from my toxic family, to make a living in London, to own a jewelry company but it didn't go as planned.
I banged my head on the table in frustration. What am I gonna do?
After a moment of contemplating my life, I begin to clean up the mess. Slowly picking up scattered papers when my eyes fell on an advert.
Lockwood and Co
The prestigious psychical agency requires a junior field operative and an assistant researcher. Duties will include on-site analysis of reported hauntings and the containment of same. The successful applicant will be SENSITIVE to supernatural phenomena, well-dressed, preferably female and not above fifteen years in age.
Unsuccessful applicants will include time-wasters, fraudsters and persons with criminal records. Apply in writing, together with a photograph, to 35 Portland Row, London W1.
I carefully folded the paper and rushed to my room.
33..34..ah 35. This must be place.
I check the advert again just to make sure I'm at the right place.
I fix my hair and clear my throat one more time before ringing the bell.
"Um hi-"
"Are you Arif's new girl?"
"....who's Arif?"
"Runs the corner store, usually sends someone over with donuts as you don't have any, you must be here for the interview."
I nod awkwardly. Not the best start I see
"Name?"
"Y/n y/l/n. Are you Mr. Lockwood?"
"Me? No." It seem like he is offended. "The last girl just went down but from the look of her, she won't take long."
I step inside the wide hallway, filled with artefacts, books and a chipped plant pot around the corner. This is where they keep their rapiers I guess.
"You win George. That was the last one."
"Then who's this?" The boy named George pointed at me as if I'm some alien. (and I took offense to that)
A boy with very bright, dark eyes and nice lopsided grin said "Hello, I'm Anthony Lockwood." I shook his hand and introduced myself.
"What's your talent?" Lockwood asked.
I gave a small smile "I don't have one."
For a minute I thought the time stopped. I tried to read their faces. I'm sure they're gonna kick me out.
"Well that's fine, we're looking for a researcher anyway and it doesn't need much talent, does it George?" He looked at the boy, sitting at the corner sofa.
He wiped his glasses on his t-shirt "I don't mind."
"Do you have any past experience?"
"Not really." I blushed. "But I am a fast learner, I will work hard. I really need this job."
"George will train you so don't worry." He clasped.
"This means..I got the job?"
"Yes. Welcome to Lockwood and Co"
My eyes shined like a diamond. "I'm not going to disappoint you sir, I desperately needed this job. I'll do anything, thank you so so much." I thanked them like my life depended on it and it kinda did. Lockwood and George exchanged a look (they were talking in some code word I can feel it.) It doesn't matter. I won't be here for too long.
It's been a few weeks since I've been working as a assistant researcher. We also have a new member, her name is Lucy Carlyle. She's really cool, we get along well. Lucy stays with them, they offered me accommodation, too but I refused, I still have a dream to chase.
The work is actually interesting but George makes it a bit difficult for me, he's a perfectionist. I don't blame him. I just try my best to live up to the standards.
It's the beginning of November, the nights are chilly lately. I've just finished some papers regarding the latest case.
"We should head back it's getting late." George looks at his watch.
"Hmm?" People already left the library, it was just me and him now.
I quickly stood up but felt dizzy. I felt an arm around my waist, I felt a pair of warm brown eyes on me. His mole is cute..has he always been this cute?
"Y/n you alright?" George holds my arm.
I clear my throat "yes. perfectly fine." I quickly gathered my books and walk as fast as I could. The moment I step out of the building I was welcomed by the chilly wind hitting my face. I stood for a moment, my back against the wall.
I feel so weird.
"Y/n, It's best we see a doctor." He frowned.
"I'm fine."
"You wanna walk by yourself? Alright, Let's see that." George scoffed.
"Why are you so mean George Karim?" I winced.
"You're being crazy. You clearly need help."
"George, I can manage."
"At least let me walk you home." He insisted.
"Nope." With that I make my way home little did I know what was waiting for me.
Maybe I should've been more polite. All he wanted was to help me but I'm a big girl I can manage. It's just a little fever. I slowly made my way to the neighborhood when I felt something strange. I feel nauseas, like something rotten is near me. I felt a heaviness on my chest, something was pulling me away. Soon I felt the cold hard ground, I tried to call for help but nothing came out of my mouth that's when I heard a sound of metal drawn.
"Are you alright?" He keenly looked at me.
"What happened?" I panted.
"You were ghostlocked. Please just let me walk you home we can argue later." He pulled me with him.
I think my dream is gonna end before it even starts.
Hello my dear readers, first chapter is done and dusted. Excuse my crappy writing. Hope you like the chapter. Do let me know your thoughts in the comment section. I love you!!!

I have written something new.
I want to talk to you by NiahmDaFoe - Lockwood & Co. - Jonathan Stroud https://archiveofourown.org/works/51631282
You can also read it here:
Summary:
A fanfic in which Lockwood and Lucy call each other.
This is set during black winter. Between The Hollow Boy and The creeping Shadow.
This Fanfiction was inspired by Twitter and got me into a writing rage today thanks to Lavenderghostco posting a picture from the very talented Artist aenniyam from Instagram in which a rain drenched person dramatically leans over the telephone in a telephone booth.
--------------------------------------------
*bip* *bip* *bip* *bip*
Lockwood listens to the busy signal of the telephone-handle pressed to his ear, clasping it tightly, water droplets running down his hands, falling from his hair leaving streaks on his face. He is soaked from the heavy downpour, which paints the early dawn in light greys and dark blues. How did he even end up in this Telephone booth?
He had run from the argument he just had. George had had enough. His reckless behaviour put them all at risk. And Lockwood couldn't face that he was indeed, losing it.
He had lost everything. He had lost her. Lockwood was so angry, angry with himself and his emotions of weakness. He couldn't stand George telling him off. He knew full well that he felt incompetent and lost deep down and didnt need his best friend pull it out into the open.
Lockwood had been reckless, although he knew that George and Holly were his responsibility. He knew he had to be a better leader, to be more cautious for them, but at the same time he had lost all will to do that. What does it mean if he can't even get Lucy to stay. Or to come back. He'd shown her that the agency was strong enough, so why didn't she come back? She could at least call.
So, why did he run here? What was he about to do in this telephone booth? Whom was he going to call? Lucy? Ridiculous!
He hung up the receiver.
*clack*
Maybe he just unconciously went inside to find shelter from the rain? Lockwood dropped his arms, took a deep breath, and tried to listen to the sounds around him. Around this little cubicle of space.
Night caps and the first few cars of the day were passing by on wet asphalt.
*drip*
Rain pondered against the telephone booth, corners of the now colourless notes glued to the booth by old scotch tape were flapping in the wind.
*drip*
Slow drops fell from his shirt to the floor.
With a deep breath through his teeth, he decided: he would call her; he'd show them that he's okay.
Maybe he'd tell her that she was stupid for leaving. That he'd be ready for negotiations to take her back into the agency. Tell her, that most debts were paid by now and that he could employ another agent to have more time to train with her to control her talent.
He realized that even in his thoughts he was rambling. He hated this. He'd show her. He'd show himself that he was over this!
He gripped the receiver once again, rummaging in his pockets for a coin and called the directory enquires.
He didn't - couldn't wait for the operator to speak:
"Lucy Carlyle, psychic investigations, London please" he heard himself say.
"Certainly sir. Do you just want the number or shall I connect you?" The voice of the operator was nice, soothing even.
"Connect please." he cleared his throat
"I'll connect you now. Have a good day sir!" the operator chimed. He heard a clack in the line and then the dial tone rang heavy in his ear.
*beep*
He took a deep breath.
*beep*
He didn't dare breathe out.
*beep*
Was she out on a case? What took her so long to answer?
*beep*
After a surge of impatience he felt all hope deflate. Maybe she was on a case after all. It was stupid, really, to think that she would be home at this time of day.
*beep* *click*
"Lucy, Lucy Carlyle - psychic investigations. How may I help you?" her voice sounded hurried and tired at the same time.
"...ah..." There were no sounds he could make. All his elaborate anger and prepared words were gone. She was there. She was alive!
"Hello? Can you hear me?" Lucy asked.
"..." he held his free hand to his face to stifle the sob trying to escape his lips.
"Are you okay? Do you need help?" she inquired.
...
*drip*
...
He felt his face go hot with tears.
"Are you still there? Do you need assistance? Shall I send someone?" Her voice now laden with a hint of anxiousness.
..
Lockwood couldn't breathe.
"I'm sorry." it was barely a whisper that escaped him. He took the receiver from his ear and it felt like it got heavier with each moment he held it, while Lucy, Lucy was still there. She was there.
Just mere moments from hanging up he heard her :
"Lockwood?! Is that you?" She sounded concerned.
With a heavy “Thud”, he hung up.
*drip*
He curled himself over the telephone and allowed him a moment to gather himself.
*drip*
Tears mixed with rain as it fell in little droplets onto the telephone.
Why was it so hard to breathe? Why did this feel like his chest had been ripped open?
*drip*
Lockwood stood, wiped with his hands over his face and sighed.
He put on a smile like an armour and made his way back to 35 Portland Row.
********
As he got into the house at Portland Row, he was greeted by Holly.
"Lockwood, are you waiting for a call? We have had a caller all morning which only hangs up on me or George. So I figured it was .."
*riiiiing* *riiiiiiing"
George stomped out of the kitchen cursing "Oh for god’s sake, who is this?!"
"I'll get it." Lockwood said with a strange composure and he felt a small smile creep onto his face.
*riiiing*
"Lockwood and co, Psychic investigations. Anthony Lockwood speaking, how may I help you?" He tried to beam his Lucy Smile into his voice and hoped that it would come across.
"..."
Lockwood paused, contemplating what to say. George and Holly were still with him in the hall looking at him questioningly.
The other end stayed silent
"I'm here." he said. And with that the caller hung up.
Lockwood gathered himself, put down the telephone, put on a smile and turned to George and Holly. "Maybe wrong number?"
He shrugged overtly and began hopping up the stairs. "I'll be with you in a bit. Let's properly debrief then." He tried to sound as confident and careless as possible while stealing away to his room.
With the comforting sound of his heavy door closing behind him, he tried to sort his feelings. He knew the caller had been Lucy. She was concerned about him.
He felt a pleasant warmth rising in his chest while simultaneously feeling guilty to have made her worried about him.
They both knew that they were alive. That had to be enough - for now.

Hii.
What is this Lockwood co about?
Deciding if I should watch it or not?
Lockwood & Co. is based on a series of middle-grade novels by Jonathan Stroud, which were published in the mid-2010s. It has now been adapted into a show by Netflix! It's main premise that an alternate-Britain is having persistent hauntings and ghost visitations, which are (in a very appropriately British fashion) referred to as The Problem and visitors. In order to deal with these persistent and potentially deadly hauntings, there are agencies of young, psychically gifted children (since only children or teens can hear/see/sense ghosts), run by adult supervisors, who seek out the most difficult and dangerous of the hauntings, deal with the ghosts, and destroy them.
Our main characters are:
Lucy Carlyle, whose main Talent is Listening, hearing psychic echoes of ghosts and their hauntings (played by Ruby Stokes). I affectionately refer to Lucy as "Jyn Erso and Tiffany Aching" coded, since she is a mid-sized beacon of rage, compassion and utter determination as she leaves her small village in the Northern England after a tragic case gone wrong, to travel to London and join a ghost-hunting agency. she meets:
George Karim (Cubbins in the books, played by Ali Hadji-Heshmati), a brilliant, irascible ghost researcher, who is Not Getting Paid Enough™️ to deal with This Nonsense™️. my most beloved son, who is The Only Sane Person in the room at any given time (he 100% isn't.) he runs the agency along with:
Anthony Lockwood (played by Cameron Chapman), the founder and leader of Lockwood & Co, an independent agency (i.e., not run by adults), a dazzlingly charismatic young man, who is hiding lots of secrets behind his charming smiles. potentially a few death wishes?? He needs help, basically, someone help him
These three kids hunt and bust murderous ghosts, deal with long-suffering Agent Montagu Barnes, who just wants them to stop trying to die, looking at you Anthony Lockwood. and trying to figure out the Problem--who started it? what's causing it? why is it not getting better and only getting worse?
The overall aesthetic of the show is mid-80s-90s British alt-grunge/punk, and it's been near-universally acclaimed by viewers and critics, called the one of the best adaptions ever, which is a huge forking deal. I started watching it in mid-February on a whim, and the moment I saw our two main leads walking down an early evening street in modern clothes with swords on their hips, I thought, "oh yes...THAT'S the stuff."
the young actors are absolutely fantastic in their roles (the found family of it all!), the production design is wonderfully solid, and the world-building unique and original, while still pulling some absolutely solid chills and scares! I am a big horror wimp, so it's just about perfect for me. the slow burn/attraction between Lucy and Lockwood is fabulous; the moment he referred to her as "their biggest asset," my Kanej shipper self sat up straight on my bed and yelled "IS SHE AN INVESTMENT???" at the top of my lungs. same ship, different font is what I'm saying!!
all of this to say! if you haven't watched it, you absolutely should, as we impatiently wait for Netflix (scourge of our time) to announce if we're getting a season 2, and if we don't, then we HAUNT.

Psych AU
@christinefromsherwood This isn't quite what you had asked for, but I hope you enjoy nonetheless.
James Bond didn't have a usual childhood. Who could when your father was a world class spy? One of the best MI6 had to offer, he charmed his way into social functions and used his cunning to escape before they found the trouble he caused. Andrew Bond was known in the agency for efficient, no mess missions. Outside the agency, he was known as a slippery bastard.
This changed when he was the one falling prey to a lovely smile and a quick mind. Monique was happy to travel the world, with or without him. But when little Jaime came along, Andrew retired as an active agent. Taking more of a trainer role, he also ended up training his son.
He wasn't the best at raising a son. Especially after Monique died. James acted out. Andrew taught him how to be a spy. Or he tried to.
James Bond lacked the discipline to truly find success in rigid military structures, and while Andrew privately thought he would make a good 00, James would never get high enough in the ranks to be offered the position. So instead, Andrew pulled a few strings to have him in the ranks as a consultant in MI5.
No one expected his job title to suddenly change to psychic.
He wasn't. Obviously. But he was a damn good detective with a talent for reading people. And just enough parkour skills to break into places he wasn't meant to be and get out undetected. Suddenly he was the favourite person in the division and others were jealous. Someone suggested he was psychic as a joke. And, well, it was too much fun not to agree with. (Plus it meant he would have an excuse for why he knew that Clara Gemm kept her remote velcroed to the bottom of the middle sofa cushion. Saying he spent two hours last night looking around her house last night would land him in hot water.)
People didn't believe him. Why would they? But then he kept being right. And his odds only increased when he started receiving mysterious help from someone known only as Q. Helpful emails had started arriving after he was assigned to investigating someone with significantly more technological skill than he had. But on a Friday before a holiday weekend, someone pulled out the lie detector and the whiskey.
They expected it to reveal his ruse. It would still be in good fun, impressed as they were for how long he had played the game. No one expected the lie detector to show James was telling the truth. Perhaps if they had known Andrew better, they would've realised he taught James how to fool even the best models.
James never figured out who Q was. No matter what he did to track him down. After a year he stopped, figuring they were entitled to their secret. Certainly James had his fair share of them. Whoever they were, they always seemed to know just what James needed and was usually only a quick email away if James didn't understand something technological. Once, they even mailed James a fake ID card which would allow him to scan into more high tech buildings. It was the best gift James had ever gotten.
Well, he stopped actively trying to solve the mystery, but James did keep a purely pen and paper list of everything which could be a clue to Q's identity. Just in case.

Hello, how are you?✨
Today I am here to try to convince you to pick up (or at least consider) the Lockwood & Co. series by Jonathan Stroud. The series is also going to be adapted into a Netflix TV show coming out in January, so this is the perfect time to give the books a try.
The story is set in an alternative version of London in which "the Problem", as people call it, has spread: ghosts are coming back to the mortal world, putting everyone in danger 👻 Only children can see and hunt them in order to protect the rest of the population, and they do so through organizations called Agencies.
All agencies are controlled and monitored by adults, except one: Lockwood & Co. The owner is the young, confident and with a mysterious past Anthony Lockwood, who runs his agency from the walls of his dead parents' home, alongside his nerd best friend and associate, George Cubbins. The story starts when Lucy Carlyle, a girl with strong psychic talent from the countryside, starts working with them.
If you are looking for a funny and creepy story filled with sarcasm to read during fall, this is certainly for you! 😊
Filled with amazing character dynamics, this book will make you fangirl and laugh out loud, just to break your heart at the end 😭✨

Past-Present-Future Black Dahlia
Two major tragedies bring Lee Mirae closer to the edge as she goes through the stages of grief in a more violent manner that would affect not only her relationships with her boyfriend Jeong Yunho and her half-brother Choi San, but also has her becoming closer with the immortal mutant Kang Yeosang. Fueled by rage, grief, and pain, along with a very rude awakening that has Mirae spiraling out of control and questioning everything she holds dear.
Group: ATEEZ Member: Yunho Pairing: Jeong Yunho / OC Genre: Action, adventure, angst, fantasy
Watch Out! : Violence, blood, death, grief and loss, major character deaths, use of weapons, some jealousy (but no cheating ofc), implied smut (not sure if there is any but i’m putting it out there nonetheless), mental illness (probably?), gambling and alcohol
Anything else? : Mentions of other idols of course as well as other characters. SuperM, Dean, Chanyeol, Zelo, soloist Park Jihoon to name a few.
Author’s Note: So, a lot of stuff happened. The ideas of this chapter have been stewing in my head for the entire week so I’m glad to have written the chapter in one go. Also, lovers quarrel. I hope this chapter did good in terms of the emotional nuances?
Listen to: Tomorrow - Chanyeol, HWA - CL

Chapter 2
Yunho tried to pull Mirae up, as she broke into sobs. One hand was holding Hyuk’s, and her arm was around Chanyeol’s lifeless form. He didn’t need to read her mind to know how she felt and what she was feeling. The rest of them stood by, crestfallen expressions even with some scratches here and there. San put his hand on her shoulder while she rocked back and forth.
An inescapable pain came over Mirae as hot tears kept falling down her face as she held onto them. Their lifeless forms. Just when she thought losing her adoptive parents and losing Jihoon was painful, this was undoubtedly the most painful of all. It was more painful than any physical injury she had ever sustained. Her two best friends were gone, right in front of her, in her arms and she couldn’t save them.
“Mirae,” Yunho said quietly, breaking the silence that came over them. He bent down and placed his hand on her other shoulder. “Mirae.”
She didn’t look over at him. “Mirae,” San squeezed her shoulder.
“We’ll- Well, I-” Junhong managed to say, unsure of how to say what else he was thinking. “We should inform their loved ones, then.”
“Where’s Ino?” San asked.
“I don’t know, he just disappeared again for some reason,” Junhong shrugged, looking around what was left of their safehouse.
“Mirae,” Yunho said softly. Reading her mind, he realized she was replaying all of those losses in her head, even when she lost him. She was replaying the last moments they had, and he felt the pain she was feeling. “Mirae, come on. We need to clear out of this place, it’s getting dark. Let Seonghwa bring them to a safer place,” He said, glancing at the other telekinetic, whose eyes were also welling with tears at the sight of her.
Mirae knew she should move, but it was as if her body refused to go anywhere. To let go would be like losing them forever, and she already did. “Mirae, let Seonghwa bring them to the van,” San looked over, seeing Junhong approach the house beside the building and open up the front, revealing a garage that had the van. “Let Seonghwa bring them to the van, hmm? We need to go somewhere else for this.”
~
The following week was the funeral after several days of crying family members, friends, and even colleagues from the restaurant and from Hyuk’s entertainment agency, TRBL Music. The rest of them made sure to dress for the occasion. The idol group Silver was also present, all of them wearing black suits and ties. Midam’s eyes were puffy as he watched the proceedings with his head hung low.
Chanyeol’s parents and Hyuk’s best friend, Woo Jiho, had asked Mirae to be one of the pallbearers, assisting in bringing out the caskets to the hearses.
Mirae hadn’t slept, even whenever Yunho came over to sleep, leaving Seonghwa, who now became his roommate, to tend to their apartment. She couldn’t get through the day without crying every five minutes, she couldn’t look at the pictures on her walls as she felt looking at it would remind her of those last few moments again. She couldn’t even bring herself to say a eulogy, and was often staring into space whenever she was alone either in the backroom of the store or in the apartment.
Junhong took up another apartment in the same building as them, putting two other apartments for Hongjoong, Mingi, and Jongho to live in. They would stay there until they’d be able to set up somewhere else. The landlord seemed to welcome the fact that there were more tenants despite the somber mood that they were all in.
Even as the rites were all performed and the dirt poured over with everyone else leaving the area, Mirae stayed, looking at the epitaphs for the two of them.
Park Chanyeol Son. Brother. Friend With fire in his eyes and a big heart.
Kwon Hyuk Son. Brother. Friend. Producer.
Who moved the world with his mind and musical talent.
More tears fell down the sides of her face as she reread the inscriptions and she wiped it away with the sleeve of her coat. “Come, let’s go home,” Yunho said, wrapping an arm around her. “Or we can stop by the convenience store? Get ourselves something to eat? I forgot to buy groceries.”
“Really? At this time?” San gave him a look. “But we did run out of cereal.”
“I don’t feel like eating,” Mirae shook her head.
“You’ve barely eaten anything since that day, Mirae. You have to get something in you,” Yunho squeezed her side.
“Unless you can bring them back, then I’ll eat,” Mirae moved away and walked back to the car.
“You know, that’s what she looked like when she lost you, only she didn’t blow anyone up this time,” Seonghwa said as they caught up with her to the vehicle.
“I know,” Yunho replied, getting in the passenger’s seat.
The rest of them quietly assembled in Junhong’s place. Half the apartment was converted to a computer station, with Junhong taking apart the monitors and the system from the van and placed them inside the living space. “I guess, we’re on our own in practicing our powers, aren’t we?” Mingi glanced at Seonghwa, who nodded.
“What’s that look about?” Jongho noticed Wooyoung, who stood in the corner of the room. He was blinking several times. “What did you see?”
“I don’t know if it’s the right time and all,” Wooyoung looked hesitant, making careful glances at Mirae, who was still staring into space in her seat at the dining room. “But, in the Danger Room, while we watched? I sensed that someone was in the booths,” He revealed. “Someone other than us, other than Junhong, two people actually. I feel like they tampered with the system or something, whoever they were.”
“You mean to say someone infiltrated the safehouse? That’s impossible. I would’ve seen them,” Junhong shook his head.
“Then why would those two people be in there?” Wooyoung asked, making another careful glance at Mirae, who was now looking at him. “But I wasn’t sure if it had already happened before or it was about to happen so I didn’t say anything.”
“The only other way for other people to come in there is if any one of us invited them in, and we hardly had anyone new there. The Danger Room was under construction even,” Junhong argued.
“What about Ino? Did he invite anyone to go in there?” Mirae suddenly asked, the room falling silent at her words.
“Not that we know of. He disappears every now and then, though,” Hongjoong said. Junhong nodded in agreement as did Jongho and Mingi.
“I don’t know, but Ino hyung did look at me like he knew something,” Wooyoung said carefully. He could tell how she was feeling, and it made the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end.
“From what you’re saying, it sounds like…” Junhong trailed off. “It sounds like Ino knew the safehouse would explode and… that Chanyeol and Hyuk would die…”
Yunho immediately exchanged knowing looks with San, who sensed what she was going to say next. “Where is he, then?” She asked, her voice calm.
“I have no idea,” Junhong shrugged.
All of a sudden, Ino had materialized in front of all of them. He looked just as sullen, and he immediately saw Mirae staring at him. “This isn’t a bad place. Good on you, Junhong, to be able to find a place for us to stay in,” He said.
“You knew the Danger Room would overload and explode, didn’t you?” Mirae asked bluntly.
Ino stared at her. “Mirae, what are you talking about-”
“You knew someone tampered with the Danger Room, didn’t you? I’m not a psychic so it would help me a great deal if you told me the truth,” Mirae repeated, a sudden coldness in her voice that made the rest of them step back. “Chanyeol and Hyuk are now lying six feet under because someone tampered with the controls in the Danger Room. Tell me, Ino, did you know it would happen?”
“Mirae,” Ino looked at her incredulously. “Mirae, I-I had a feeling something was wrong, but I figured it would’ve been-”
Ino was pinned against the wall. Mirae was glaring at him. “You knew and you let this happen anyway?” She said, tightening her hold on his necktie. “Jang Ino, you knew what would happen to Chanyeol and Hyuk and you let them die?”
“Mirae, I didn’t expect them to die-”
“What did you expect then? That we wouldn’t get ambushed or something? That this was still part of a simulation? That their injuries aren’t real? That they wouldn’t actually die?” Mirae hissed. “You just disappeared when it happened. It’s what you do best, isn’t it? Disappear?”
Yunho and San gently patted her arms. “Mirae, this isn’t the answer, calm down, please,” Yunho urged her, making her let go of the elder.
Ino coughed as he straightened himself up. “Mirae, I didn’t expect them to die, I thought you three could handle it if anything happened.”
Mirae shook her head, pulling away from Yunho and San’s hold. The sadness in her slowly being replaced with rage. It was boiling and bubbling inside her. “That’s what you always do. When the going gets tough, where do you go? You run and hide like everyone else. You always get us to do the dirty work for you because you’re not willing to step out there. You tell people to use their powers and you can’t even use yours, not even for everyone else’s benefit. For an omega-level mutant, you couldn’t even bother to do something.”
“Mirae you know it’s not as simple as that-”
“Yes it is!” Mirae shouted, her whole body trembling with rage. “Yes it is and you know it! You’re a coward, Ino! You can’t even be bothered to save people out there! With everything you can do, doing nothing seems to be what you do best.”
Tears fell down her face. “Mirae, you know I still have trouble with my powers-”
“That’s bullshit! How did you think I was able to control mine?!” Mirae yelled, her eyes glowing red. “How did you think Chanyeol and Hyuk were able to control theirs? There wasn’t a manual when we got our powers,”  Her fingertips were glowing.
The decor on the walls shattered and burst around them. “Mirae! Please!” Yunho called out, seeing Ino try and keep everything else intact.
“If you wanted me to go back to the old ways, you probably should’ve just asked,” Mirae growled, the dining table exploding and making Junhong hide behind the kitchen counter.
“Mirae, please-” Ino coughed as Mirae had her hand on his throat.
“You couldn’t even stick up for us when we needed you, even when the goblins tried to take over the country from below, you were standing by the sidelines acting like you couldn’t do anything when you of all people could end any conflict with the blink of an eye,” Mirae tightened her grip on his throat, her eyes glowing brighter than ever.
“Mirae!” San called out.
She let go of him, her eyes still glowing. “I’m tired, Ino. I really am. Tired of listening to you, tired of going to you for answers. I’m tired,” and she kicked him, sending him flying to the other side of the apartment before leaving.
Hongjoong and Jongho helped Ino up from the shelf he crashed into. “Where is she going?” Seonghwa asked, trying to put the dismantled bits and pieces of the furniture to one side.
Yunho got up. “Back home,” He glanced at San, who also wondered. “She’s- I’ll go check on her,” He ran towards the dark hall leading to the door and vanished. He reappeared in the bedroom, seeing Mirae seated on the edge of the bed. He heard the sound of the front door opening, figuring it was San that came in. “Mirae,”
“Tired of saying my name already?” She looked up at him.
“No, but I know you’re not thinking straight right now,” He said.
“Really? Only now? The other times I probably wasn’t thinking clearly either,” Mirae replied.
Yunho bent down in front of her. “I know you’re mad at Ino, but you probably shouldn’t have used your powers on him, much less kicked him.”
“You would’ve done the same thing. You lashed out at them before, it’s not going to stop you.”
“Mirae, please, I know you’ve been hurt-”
“You know what hurts? Your two best friends getting killed and the one who knew what was going to happen didn’t even dare do anything,” Mirae stared at him. “What hurts is that more people I love have been taken away from me. What hurts!” Her voice raised, and she inhaled. “What hurts is that the people who have been with me through thick and thin, all this time, were taken away by someone, whoever they are, and Ino just let it happen.”
“I know-” He tried to hold her hands, only for Mirae to pull away.
“No you don’t. No matter how much you read my mind, you weren’t there, you didn’t go through what I’ve been through with Chanyeol and Hyuk the past several years, especially since the Seoul attack. Now they’re gone, so that leaves me left,” Mirae was still staring at him, getting up from the bed.
“That’s unfair of you to say-”
She scoffed. “Really? Dump me then, go to that girl who’s been making eyes at you at the store whenever you’re there. You think I didn’t notice?”
Yunho couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “Mirae, are you actually insinuating that I’d like her?! When you’re there?! Is that what you’re trying to say?!”
San was standing by the door, trying to wrap his head around what was happening, what he was hearing from the two of them. “You don’t think I noticed how she was flirting with you and you’re just there flirting back like some idol with a fan? I even noticed that she slipped her number in the bill she paid you-”
“I threw that number out?! How could you say I liked her?!” Yunho’s voice was also raised.
“Yunho would never do that to you, and you’d know if he did,” San couldn’t help but chime in.
“Stay out of this,” Mirae shot at him.
“Mirae, please, I never intended for it to be that way, she’s a customer, nothing more,” Yunho said.
“Really? Is she really?” Mirae gave him a look. “If they took away Chanyeol and Hyuk, they probably should’ve taken away literally everyone I’m around-”
“Don’t you dare say that, and tough luck for that to happen because I’m not going anywhere,” Yunho grabbed her hands. “I’m not. I love you, and you’re all I see.”
Mirae looked into his eyes. She knew it was true, just by reading his mind. Yet the anger she was feeling wasn’t going away. “If you’re not going anywhere,” She pulled away from him. “Then I am,” She took her jacket and staff, brushing past San, whom she pulled her hand away from when he tried to get her to stay.
Mirae ran through the streets, not caring if she was getting wet. She needed to run away, to get away from everyone she knew. The last thing she wanted was to stay with them. The anger in her remained as she passed by several shops, the sight of Viva Polo made her want to walk away further.
She kept replaying their last moments together, from their last meal together at the restaurant, the last car ride, and the incident in the Danger Room. Mirae couldn’t believe that Ino would allow it to happen. She felt betrayed by the very person she would turn to for advice and help.
Fuck them, fuck them all, she thought as she pressed on, pausing when she felt her stomach grumble. The hunger set in, and Mirae looked around. The convenience stores she passed by were all occupied by groups of people, until she saw a quiet, authentic sushi bar. From the outside, she noticed that there weren’t many people around and she went in, passing through some tables that were occupied by couples and sat at the bar area.
“Alcohol, if you have it, whatever’s available,” She said quietly, taking a few plates of the sushi servings from the conveyor belt at once. The clerk behind the conveyor belt nodded and took out a bottle of soju and a shot glass, placing it in front of her. Mirae devoured every serving, several plates piling on top of another, taking sips every now and then.
The food calmed down the rumbling in her stomach as well as the mood she was in. By now, Yunho would have known where she was. If not Yunho, she knew San would already be on the search.
“You eat so well.”
Mirae saw a middle-aged man in a suit occupying the seat next to hers at the bar. “Excuse me?” She asked.
“I said you eat so well, you’ve got some of that soju down the side of your mouth,” He pointed out.
She knew what he was trying to do. “Be direct with me, mister. Do you want to screw me?” She asked. The man only giggled. “It’s not funny. Do you?” She asked again.
“You’re a beautiful girl, you know. I bet so many guys have tried their luck on you.”
“You didn’t answer my question. Do you want to have sex with me? A one night stand?” Mirae raised a brow.
“Yes.”
Mirae nodded. She placed a few bills down on the table. “Here you go, thank you for the meal,” She said, and beckoned the man to follow her. “Come with me, why don’t we get it on in the restroom if you can’t wait.”
The man eagerly got down from his seat and followed her down the red-tinged hall and into the men’s restroom. “Come on, let me see you,” The man grinned.
Mirae smiled. “So eager, aren’t you?” Her eyes glowed red. “Well I’m not,” She kicked the man in the groin and kicked him into the empty cubicle, knocking him unconscious as his head was in the toilet. The glow in her eyes faded and she left the restroom and the restaurant.
She was out in the rain again, determined to stay away from home as much as possible. Mirae stopped in front of a billiard hall and went in, the smell of cigarette smoke was in the air. Groups of men and women, some evidently drunk, were haphazardly playing billiards on the tables around. She wasn’t much of a billiard player, remembering that Yunho and San played a game or two on a day when they closed the store early, but mostly went to an internet cafe to play their games.
“Your strongest alcohol, and a bowl of ramen please,” She told the employee.
“We only have soda.”
“Then soda it is,” Mirae said, seating herself down by an unoccupied billiard table. The doors opened and in came a man with a woman who was evidently his wife, along with a group of what looked like bodyguards. “Who are they?” She asked the employee who was preparing her order.
“Who? Oh them? They go to the tables. Between you and me,” The employee set down her meal on the table. “A round of poker and blackjack in that room. Gamble if you’ve got the money.”
“I’m not much of a gambler either, but I like card games,” Mirae felt the deck in her jacket as she thanked the employee. She put down the money and got up, casually following the group of people into the room that had several tables. Businessmen, some flamboyantly dressed, were playing rounds of poker and blackjack in the respective tables along with stacks of money and poker chips that amounted to the same value. She sat down at a blackjack table, the dealer immediately sliding two cards towards her and setting up two more in front of them.
The dealer opened the first card she had. “Eight” the dealer opened the second. “Nine.”
Mirae sensed that some of the people at the table were watching her. “I’ll stay.”
The dealer opened their own cards, revealing a three and a two. “Seventeen beats five. Congratulations,” the dealer slid a few chips in front of her.
Mirae left the billiard hall with pockets stuffed with wads of cash and the bottle of cola she ordered in her hand. She was about to go on her way, throwing the empty bottle in the recycling bin when she saw a figure emerge from the shadows of the alley next to the building. “What do you want?” She said.
“I want you to come home, you’ve been out long enough,” Yunho said. San stepped out from behind the taller male.
“Come home, Mirae, please,” San chimed in. “You’ve had a hell of a day, we’ve had a hell of a day, but it’s time to go home, to rest, you need it.”
“How do you know what I need right now?” Mirae asked.
“I don’t need to read your mind to know what you need. You’ve barely slept, you barely eat, that’s messing with your head right now,” San said. “If you don’t come home, we’ll bring you home.”
Mirae stared at them. “Is that a threat?”
“No,” San sighed. “But I know it’ll do you some good.”
“What will do me some good is being away from everyone. Let me on my way or else I won’t have to kick your asses,” Mirae said.
“Mirae, how could you say that? I know you’re probably still seething, and I know the shit you’ve put up with while you were out here, but just come back, come home, okay?” Yunho asked, taking a step forward, but she stepped back.
“I’ve thought about it, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t belong there anymore, the building wreaks of betrayal,” Mirae turned to walk, only for Yunho to grab her wrist. Her eyes glowed as she kicked him away, sending him further in the alley.
“Mirae, please-” San stepped forward, only for Mirae to push him back. San hit the side of the dumpster.
“No,” Mirae said, the glow in her eyes remaining.
“I hate to say this, but Chanyeol and Hyuk wouldn’t want you acting out like this,” San groaned as he got up.
“You’re right, Sannie. Chanyeol and Hyuk wouldn’t, but I would. Go home,” The glow in Mirae’s eyes faded and she ran away.

It’s time for a brand new talentswap for this Tuesday! She may not like her title, but here she is: this is Myth, the Former Ultimate Clairvoyant!
——————————————————-
BACKSTORY
Myth was, for some reason, born with future-predicting powers, with the first incident being when she was 5, and watching a sports team with her family. Her elder sisters jokingly asked her who would win, and Myth confidently spouted out her choice, which turned out later to be right, much to the shock of Myth’s family. Thinking it was just a fluke, Myth’s parents asked her for the lottery numbers, which turned out to also be correct. And with the eventual discovery of her psychic powers, came loads and loads of popularity at her school. Unfortunately, this popularity was shallow at best, with most people interacting with her purely to get a taste of her psychic powers. This led to Myth becoming an antisocial loner, who shows a great dislike of her powers and eventual Ultimate, wanting to be known for her artistic merits and become the Ultimate Watercolor Artist or Ultimate Novelist. The only reason she even became a chaperone for the Kibo-Con trip is her secret soft spot for children.
——————————————————-
RELATIONSHIPS
Wyre Anon, Former Ultimate Affluent Progeny
Despite being rough, tough and informal in a majority of situations, Wyre is infamous for their business acumen and being the prime candidate amongst their family to succeed their oil magnate parents, who are the head of the PALEO oil company. Myth and Wyre both met in school, trying to flee from their respective fanclubs and eventually bonded over their shared trust issues regarding friends due to their shared status of being different. Wyre regularly scares off people who wish to use Myth, and Myth is forever thankful for that. If only Wyre could stop teasing Myth about her secret soft spots, that Myth is still in denial having.
Outfit: A simple tan and white suit, neatly combed hair and unbroken glasses.
Anon Scar, Ultimate Swimmer
Known worldwide for her fast speeds in the water, Scar is also known for her odd behavior when in interviews, often referring to herself as “Charybdis Incarnate”, and claiming that one day, she will reclaim her undersea throne and rule the bottom of the ocean once again. When Myth first saw Scar spouting nonsense about how the two have similar magical auras, she wanted nothing to do with the chuuni-swimmer. But when Scar realized that Myth has a very negative opinion of her own magic powers, Scar tries to dial back the facade. From there, Myth learned that Scar is almost like a mom, when she drops the “Charybdis Incarnate” act.
Outfit: Hair in a ponytail, a long black-to-purple sundress, a blue shawl wrapped around her shoulders, tan sandals. Fusion Anon, Ultimate Martial Artist
As the eldest child of two martial arts masters, it would only make sense that Fusion would want to continue their legacy, for he won competition after competition with his disciplined attitude and physical strength. Despite his threatening height and talent, which unnerved the otherwise ice-cold Myth, Fusion is actually really friendly and cheerful, and happy to educate others on different modes of martial arts. Because of Fusion’s martial arts seminars, Myth now has a new way to vent her sorrows. Fusion doesn’t like Myth’s negative view of her talent, and threatens to physically fight her, if she keeps talking bad about herself.
Outfit: A red Nippon Ichi headband, an open blue hoodie with nothing underneath and the sleeves ripped off, showing off his muscular build, red fingerless gloves, black pants, white socks, and brown sandals.
Fusion Anon II, Ultimate Soldier
Having been born in a wartorn territory, Fusion II was basically groomed to be the perfect child soldier, and help secure wins for her country. A past like that would change anybody for the worse, and Fusion II attempts to combat her trauma with sarcasm and jokes. Myth and Fusion II quickly bonded over their similar personalities and hatred for their talents, and just love to snark at people in the background. But as they learn more and more about each other, they soon became each other’s shoulders to cry on, as they vent to each other about their less-than-stellar backgrounds, and secretly confide in each other’s secret soft spots.
Outfit: Black sunglasses that hide her eyes, a grey bullet-proof vest over a blue long-sleeved shirt, a long blue skirt that hides her weapons, dark grey combat boots.
Just Anon, Ultimate Fashionista
Having strict parents who groomed him to be a perfect little doll who would make their family look good, Janon wants nothing to do with the constant photo ops, constricting outfits, and people who want to date him purely for his looks, and adopted a cynical and foul-mouthed personality to drive others away. Just like with Fusion II, Myth bonded very easily with Janon, thanks to their similar temperaments and backstories leading to said temperaments. But they also know about each other’s secret soft spot for kids, and they’ve taken it upon themselves to adopt the Jr. Ultimates, and care for and protect them.
Outfit: Literally what he wears under his bunny hoodie.
Sparkle Anon, Former Ultimate Novelist
Famous for writing only the greatest bestsellers in the romantic drama genre, such as “Senryuu of the Stars” and “Spectacular Supernova”, Sparkle’s novels are loved by practically all demographics, but they are especially loved by a certain tsundere clairvoyant. Myth regularly tries to deny being a massive fan around her idol, but Sparkle saw right through her, and gave her a sparkly autograph, causing Myth’s happiness to skyrocket, not that she would ever show it, for she has a reputation to keep up. Myth certainly didn’t expect her hero in writing to be so dramatic and eccentric, but she isn’t complaining for once.
Outfit: Same outfit from the original but with her hairbun being held in place by a feather quill, and a sweater vest replacing her hoodie. Anon Egg, Former Ultimate Fanfiction Author, and Wet Sock Anon, Former Ultimate Moral Compass
Always the more diligent and obedient twin compared to Egg, who indulges themselves in anime, manga, and video games, Wet Sock joined the public morals commitee at their school and helped decrease the number of delinquents at their school into the single digits, thanks to their expertice in intimidation, thanks to being skilled at being cursed. Egg got their claim to fame by writing only the most cursed crack fics that they can, that no reader can deny are very well-written, despite being so cursed. Myth’s mind told her  to prepare herself for a stay with double the curses, and now, Myth knows exactly what her mind means.
Outfits: Matching black gakurans, with Egg’s being sloppier than Wet Sock’s.
Curious Anon, Jr. Ultimate Detective
Ever since Curious was little, they have always been asked by their classmates to solve mysteries all around their school, and by the time they reached their middle school years, they had a fully-fledged and self-run detective agency which boasts a 99% success rate. When Myth first met Curious, she was half fawning over Curious, and half expecting Curious to pull a Darla Dimple and exploit her clairvoyance. But luckily for Myth, Curious turned out to be one of the most obedient and polite children that she ever met, which only served to endear Myth even more. And that’s not even getting into the bonding over people taking advantage of them.
Outfit: Same outfit from the original, but with a Sherlock Holmes-esque hat and cape.
Anon Nerd, Former Ultimate Baseball Player
Commonly regarded as both the all star and the powerhouse of his team, Nerd is an expert at both throwing the ball and catching the ball. Nerd‘s natural strength, as well as his violent and fiery attitude makes him the perfect athlete. Too bad “teamwork” and “accidents happen” just aren’t words in his vocabulary, for he wishes to carry the team all by himself and burns up anybody who costs him a win. Both the clairvoyant and the baseball player have harrowingly massive crushes on each other, but they are both way too emotionally constipated and tsundere to admit their feelings, much to the dismay of everybody else.
Eldritch Anon, Ultimate Lucky Student
The lucky winner of Hope’s Peak lottery system, Eldritch is perhaps the most unlucky person in the world, despite what his talent would suggest. Disastrous and highly improbable events always happen to him, which gave him a paranoid and pessimistic view of the world. He fears approaching others, for the terrible luck he has might rub off on them. Myth feels a certain kinship with Eldritch, for they both have oddly supernatural talents that cause them pain and strife, despite Eldritch being too scared to interact with her. Myth kind of views Eldritch like the Jr. Ultimates, thanks to his childish build, and yearns to dots on him.
Outfit: A green hoodie patterned with clovers, black and white shorts, white socks, red and black sneakers, bandages and stitches all over his body.
Dream Anon, Ultimate Programmer
Despite what her hyperactive and childish nature would suggest, Dream is an expert at a more sedentary and intellectual pastime: computer programming. She is currently working to program technology that could help with development of prothetic limbs and artificial organs. One of the few times that Myth actually likes her future sight is when it warns her that Dream and Iris are off making their usual trouble, to which she hires the Brain Cells to save them. While Myth regularly gets irked at Dream’s energetic and childish nature, her soft spot for children just takes over, and she just can’t say mad at Dream forever.
Outfit: Pixellated pink hairpins, pink cat hoodie with grey stripes on the sleeves, grey shorts, tall white socks and pink slippers.
Iris Anon, Jr. Ultimate Biker Gang Leader
Dedicated to spreading happiness all over the world, The Smile Spreaders is a large benevolent biker gang, led by none other than the clumsy and cheery Iris Anon, and believe the members when they say that Iris is great at her job, for she knows just what to say to motivate her group, and she helps formulate all of the smile-spreading plans. Upon hearing about Myth’s talent, Myth was bombarded by praise from Iris, who finds her talent awesome, much to Myth’s confusion and irritation. Iris tried to indoctrinate Myth into her group, but Myth turns down every time. Myth uses her clairvoyance to prevent Iris and her cronies from hurting themselves though.
Outfit: Messier braids and black makeup, a black leather jacket with a smiley face on the back over a white turtleneck, spiked wristbands, a ripped-up black skirt, tall black boots with white and spiked soles.
Purple Anon, Ultimate Idol
As the lead vocalist of the gothic idol group, Ultraviolet, Purple is famed for her soft yet impactful voice. But it seems that Purple’s personality does a complete 180 when off of the stage, becoming very timid and skittish, hiding behind anything bigger than her (usually Fusion, her recently-employed bodyguard). Myth loves listening to Ultraviolet’s music, but was surprised to find out that this timid and skittish little girl is Ultraviolet’s vocalist. Probably not helping interactions between Myth and Purple, isthe fact that Purple’s vocabulary consists primarily of very old-fashioned and archaic terms, requiring Fusion to translate for her.
Outfit: A black bow in her hair, a black and purple dress, black gloves and stockings, light purple heels.  This series would center on a cynical and icy clairvoyant getting the true friends and actual love that she deserves.
——————————————————-
PERSONALITY
Clairvoyant!Myth is a perpentually grouchy and stone-cold girl. Clairvoyant!Myth has a very low opinion of her talent, viewing it as supernatural nonsense, and wants to be known for her other merits. Because people were constantly taking advantage of her clairvoyancy, Myth’s soft and friendly heart hardened and froze over, and now shuts herself out, in fear people would try to use her again. So she is basically an emo tsundere, with a secret soft spot for both children and people who see her as something apart from a psychic genius. Myth’s clairvoyance also makes her aware of her friends are in danger, giving her something of a mom sense.
——————————————————-
APPEARANCE
Clairvoyant!Myth has her hair dyed a variety of colors, and on her head, Clairvoyant!Myth wears a grey beanie, that conceals a long and squiggly ahoge. Clairvoyant!Myth also wears a green parka over a galaxy themed dress and grey boots on her feet.

Shawn James Goodwin — Four Valuable Lessons about Graphic Design
When it comes to graphic design, I(Shawn James Goodwin) am an idiot. I’m not embarrassed to admit it, although I probably should be since I manage the marketing for three exhibit companies. Yet, there’s rarely a day that I don’t make graphic design decisions about our websites, sales literature, email marketing broadcasts, and trade show displays. Does my lack of graphic design expertise show? I certainly hope not. Frankly, I think we do a pretty good job.
Tumblr media
Like most marketing managers, or any manager who understands his or her limitations, I rely on talented people, such as graphic designers. Not only do they understand the tools, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or Quark, but they spend their days immersed in graphic design issues. They understand the nuances and the trends. They remind me that this color text on that background is unreadable and that I’ve created visual clutter and confusion in my effort to say and show too much. If I ask them to add a “star burst” with a price, they guide me to a more contemporary solution that doesn’t reek of 1980’s clip art.
Fortunately, I’ve learn some valuable lessons over the years regarding graphic design, which I’ll share. These aren’t font, color, or layout tips. Remember, I’m an idiot. These are tips for anyone working with graphic designers, tips that hopefully will save you time, money, and slow the aging process.
Four Valuable Lessons about Graphic Design
It’s Your Project, Part 1: I’d hate to be a graphic designer and work with most clients. Their expectations are unrealistic, their directions are vague, and their budget is pitiful. Most clients don’t know what they want and expect the graphic designer to be psychic. Clients will use terms like “modern” and “visually striking” and “colorful” and expect those concepts to be transparent to anyone. They are not, any more than a “tree” looks the same to someone living in New England or the Pacific Northwest or Australia.
Take ownership of your project. The more information you convey to the graphic designer, the more effort you put into prepping the project, the more likely the final result will match your objectives. Take the time to collect examples of ads, websites, and sales flyers that you like. Graphic designers are visual. They’ll take those cues and use them to create your design. Too often I hear someone say, “I wanted something original and didn’t want to influence the creative process by being too specific or showing them examples.” Really? When did vagueness become a muse? Go ahead and be lazy. Just don’t pretend that your laziness is a brilliant creative design strategy.
It’s Your Project, Part 2. Let’s say you decide to ignore my advice in Part 1. I’m not offended, but I am snickering behind your back. Your graphic designer loves and hates you. You’ve made their job much harder, but you’ve made them a little richer. Most graphic designers work on an hourly rate with incremental time minimums. You are now paying for pondering and investigating and false starts. Each back and forth is getting you closer to your perfect design, but you’re paying for the privilege of having a graphic designer at your beck and call. If you work best following this process and have the budget, then hire a graphic designer full time or recognize that time is money, your money, and don’t complain when you get the final bill.
Mind Meld = Success and Increased Productivity. I’ve worked with the same graphic design firm for over four years. They are good, which is the most important criteria. Equally important is that we now have a history together. They understand what I want. I understand how best to communicate with them. They understand the exhibit industry and, in fact, have gone out of their way to learn about the trade show business — the graphic requirements, the shows, the publications, and much more. They have grown with us and have been instrumental in developing the graphics and branding for multiple product lines and marketing programs.
The lesson . . . once you’ve found a graphic designer (or design firm) that you respect and like, it pays to remain loyal. They’ll watch your back with ad agencies and suppliers. They’ll guard your branding, even when you want to trample all over it because of a wild idea at 2 am with a shelf life of 24 hours. You’ll develop a communication shorthand, which saves you money and them aggravation. Each project is still your project but getting from point A to Z, generally skips about half the alphabet.
Trust Your Instincts. It got you this far, and unless you have a history of flops, bad decisions, and marketing Hindenburgs, you’ve learned something valuable along the way. Be open to advice. But trust your instincts. If you are wrong, it was only a job in a down economy with little chance of future employment.
Finally, be amazed. There are lots and lots of people who call themselves graphic designers. Just as there are lots of people who call themselves investment advisors (GRRR!) or bankers (double GRRR!). When you find a talented graphic designer, one who syncs with your vision and your personality, hold on tight and be amazed.

What does fashion/style mean to Alastor? As someone who would also prefer to not have a flesh prison, and who doesn't like body-based compliments, I find fashion/style to be a form of self-expression, and, because it's something I have agency over, a way to reclaim the trauma of being forced into corporeal existence. I wonder if Alastor feels similarly or differently. If he's comfortable commenting of course. If not, completely understandable, have a nice day!
❌ Alastor's giving me this look that probably means something like "what the fuck did you tell the followers about me," sooo I think maybe he's catching on that I've been trying to psychoanalyze him on here. I had to give him the tl;dr version of last night's discussion.
🎶 "A little professional tip from someone who interviewed people for a living, my dear: if you ask someone a question in a one-on-one interview and immediately tell him he doesn't have to answer it, it just makes you look like an amateurish interviewer! It begs the question of why you asked in the first place, if you don't expect or particularly want an answer. Decide beforehand if your interviewee is going to be uncomfortable, then decide whether or not you care, then either ask your question or don't. To do otherwise looks wishy-washy.
❌ And if you had "Alastor gets offended that somebody showed consideration for his feelings" on your "The Radio Demon Is An Asshole" bingo cards, feel free to fill that one in now.
🎶 "I'm hardly traumatized by my own body! It's an inconvenience, but, as far as inconveniences go, not a horribly unpleasant one. It's like being given a pet without your consent, but a particularly cute and talented one—maybe you didn't want a pet, but if you'd had to choose one anyway, it would have been this one."
🎶 "There have been such philosophical debates over what decides the shape of one's soul in the afterlife. Is it a punishment, is it random, is it a reflection of repressed psychic urges... I come down on the side of those who believe that our new postmortem shapes show who we really are. I believe this because mine reflects who I am. My body is the garment that best expresses myself. My body, silly little automaton though it is, is absolutely perfect. I enjoy my body. I even love my body."
🎶 "And it is mine."
🎶 "It belongs to me. Not to any of you. You don't deserve it. If I could keep this wonderful little possession locked up somewhere safe so I could keep your eyes off of it while I go about my business, I would. You don't have permission to admire it, to ogle it, or to fawn over it. It's not your toy. It's my toy. And when your mothers taught you that good little children should be nice and share their toys, they should also have taught you that good little children don't beg to take toys from the hands of children who say they don't want to share."
🎶 "You particularly look like fools when you fling tawdry compliments at my body and act like you've paid a compliment to me. You haven't. You haven't said a word about me. I am not my body. I just ride around on it."
🎶 "The clothes I wear—to finally loop back to your original question, terribly sorry for the digression!—they serve two purposes. One, they consistently identify me, like a uniform. Two, they keep your damn eyes off everything but my smile."

Any longer fics to get us through the pandemic? Thanx! (No waycest please) :)
Hi Nonny!
We're living through difficult times right now and many of us could probably use a little comfort. I hope there are a few fics on this list that bring you some joy.And if you can, spread the love and leave comments and/or kudos on works you liked and brighten an author's day!
Be kind and stay safe
Longer Fics
L For Lucky (M for Mine) by orphan_account, Ray/Mikey, 42k, Explicit. “Yeah, look.” Mikey turns his head to peer at the crowd over his shoulder. “This is going to seem weird, but.” He stares behind him and seems, for a moment, at a loss for words. “Well, there’s no tasteful way to say it.” Mikey looks Ray in the eye and just shrugs. “This is a highly organized sexual gathering for very specifically kinky people.” Ray feels a bit of spittle lodge in his throat and tries his best not to sputter when he disagrees, “That’s actually a pretty tasteful description of an orgy.”
Paradox 'verse by stoplightglow, Frank/Gerard, 42k, Mature, Teen And Up Audiences. You know the saying. The best part about hitting rock bottom is that you get to meet a hot psychic.
Skin of the Canvas by sinsense, Frank/Gerard, 42k, Mature. The typical nude model is someone like Phil. Phil is forty-nine and paunchy. He's starting to go gray at his temples and in his pubic hair; he likes to pose on a stool, curving his back and curling his fingers together between his knees. Phil is secretly awesome -- he likes the Misfits and builds model trains -- but he's not what Gerard would call prime ogling material. Neither are any of the other models who have posed for the life modeling or anatomy classes Gerard has taken. This semester, Anna was kind of cute, but she whined about the conditions the entire time she was there. In his four years of art school, anyway, Gerard has never once dealt with being attracted to the model. But this guy is hot. --- Or: Gerard goes to art school. Frank is a nude model. Somehow their relationship gets off the ground, in spite of everything working against them.
Let The Darkness Lead You Home by rivers_bend, Frank/Gerard, 49k, Explicit. Vampires are in charge and most of the humans on earth are prey, so Frank Iero's parents have him train as a cyber tech to protect him. Leaving the family he's born into may have saved his life, but his parents never could have expected the lengths he'd go to in order to find a new family to call home.
Stunning Someone by morbid_beauty, Frank/Gerard, 82k, Explicit. Frankie, a tattoo artist living in Brooklyn, has basically everything ze wants...except, like, someone to cuddle with at night. As lame as that sounds. Gerard, an art student living in Manhattan, meets someone of questionable gender and starts a friendship with an unrequited crush. (Or: the one where Frankie is genderfluid, Gerard is kind of ignorant to much of the queer community, and sometimes you just fall for a stunning someone.)
Envision the Magic by innocent_wolves, Frank/Gerard, 69k, Teen And Up Audiences. Gerard is a talented magician, responsible for much of the success of the famous Envision Destiny cruise ship. He's also one of those people. You know, one of those people who just seem to take up all the space they come across with their arrogance and confidence. You wouldn't wanna touch their personality with a 10-foot pole, but still people admire them. That is beyond Frank. Working behind the cruise ship bars and seeing Gerard pretty much every day, he can't understand what's so great about him. Besides, everybody else doesn't have to deal with his snide remarks and rude comments. Because if there's one thing Gerard seems to love, it's the act of constantly pestering Frank.
Rentverse by gala_apples, Frank/Mikey, Ashlee/Patrick/Pete and more, 77k, Teen And Up Audiences, Explicit. It's Frank's senior year, and it seems like he's constantly having new experiences, at least half of which come as a complete surprise to him. He falls in love, comes out, and has sex, not necessarily in that order. /// It's Pete's senior year, and with every day comes a new mistake. But he can handle them, as long as his friends can.
(To Die Will Be) An Awfully Big Adventure by FayJay, Frank/Gerard, Lindsey/Gerard, 73k, Mature. Gerard has always vaguely liked the idea of being a vampire, in much the same way he's always vaguely liked the idea of time travel, or of being a pirate - but it's only when he wakes up dead that he realises that not all his fans (or friends) are actually human. This is rather a shock to the system, but Gerard does his best to deal with the fact that he's now an undead American, and he's lucky enough to get a little help from an unexpected corner. Just as he thinks he's starting to get the hang of being a vampire, however, everything suddenly goes to hell in a handbasket, and before he knows it there are angry vampires slayers chasing him around LA, and an urgent appointment with the Fairy Queen looming before him... A story about love, family, metamorphosis, art, trust and geekery.
Fit to be tied by maryangel, Frank/Gerard, 56k, Explicit. Frank is a bartender. Gerard is an alcoholic. They were clearly made for each other. Also, Frank is a werewolf.
Only Going One Way by ataratah, jjtaylor, Frank/Gerard, 73k, Mature. Crossover with due South. Constable Gerard Way of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Detective Frank Iero of the Chicago PD team up find Mikey Way in a city where bowling alley score cards hide secret codes, where the good guys are either lying or undercover (and sometimes lying about being undercover), and where criminal bakers make drug-laced frosting.
Time Travel 'verse by ladyfoxxx, Frank/Gerard, Ray/Mikey, 79k, Explicit, General Audiences. In which 2005!Frank and Fun Ghoul get it on. Then Frank accidentally winds up in 2019.
play and record, held down together by morphosyntactic, Mikey/Pete, 54k, Explicit. High school AU. Mikey Way likes keeping his head down and blending into the background at school. Then Frank signs the two of them up to do the school's weekly radio show, and keeping his head down gets more difficult, especially when he keeps running into senior soccer star Pete Wentz everywhere he goes.
Rock and Roll Never Looked so Beautiful by corruptedkid, Frank/Gerard, 58k, Explicit. Gerard Way is a rising solo artist, set to become the next big thing in the alternative scene. Frank Iero is a trashy punk with a reputation of his own as the frontman of Pencey Prep. When their paths cross, a love story is born, only to come crashing down when Gerard hits it big. As Gerard ascends to the A-list, Frank adjusts to life on his own. He almost manages it - until two years later, when fate puts him face to face with Gerard once more. Everything has changed, but the connection between them is still there. Their story has ended once before, but if they're lucky, they just might make a new one.
It's Hard to Say "I Do" When I Really, Really Do by wakingup, Mikey/Pete, 58k, Not Rated. Pete is trying to not fuck up this time. His friends don't have much faith in him, even though they love him. Mikeyway makes this easier and harder at the same time.
I never told you what I do for a living. by not0_fuckin_kay, Frank/Gerard, 60k+, PG-13 to NC-17. Frank Iero, male nurse at Pete Wentz's private hospital and possibly more to one new patient he can't keep his eyes off of. When a new pateint is brought in with amnesia, just days before Christmas, and with nothing but the clothes on his back and a strange drawing, it's left to Frank to find out who he is and what happened to him. When he does, it changes Frank's life forever, as he's thrust into love and health scares he never thought would complicate his life. This is the story of how he tries to make it through, juggling his job and his love-life and just trying to make things better. With Patrick the doctor, Bob the ward supervisor, Travis the unlikely therapist, and Mikey, the sometimes wannabe homicidal geek.
The Marching Band AU by frankiesin, Frank/Gerard, Mikey/Pete, Brendon/Dallon, 150k, all ratings. A bunch of gay teens are in a band and do dumb things while in high school. There will be a lot of pairings, each part can be read without reading the others, and the series is in chronological order.
Gerard Way's (Vampire) Detective Agency by jjtaylor, Pennyplainknits, Frank/Gerard, Mikey/Pete, Bob/Ray, Lindsey/Jamia, Spencer/Brendon, 164k, General Audiences to Mature. Pete, in Decaydance Mansion, with a yarrow stake. Frank and Gerard, in the greenhouse, with a plant of questionable origin. Bob, everywhere you look, with a gang of assassins for justice. Vampires, valets, pamphlets, haunted furniture, dub-thrall, disembodied voices, zombie couriers, and sinister rituals.
Nightswimming by waxjism, Mikey/Pete, Frank/Gerard, 163k, Not Rated. Summertime and the livin' is easy...
Unholyverse by Bexless, Frank/Gerard, Ray/Mikey, 187k, General Audiences, Mature, Explicit. Religion! Horror! Exorcisms! Piercings! And Gerard is a priest.
shut up and drive by Trojie, uglowian, Patrick/Mikey/Pete, 139k, Teen And Up Audiences. Pete Wentz is the grid girl, Andy Hurley loves him (not like that), and Jared Leto is the bad guy. A.K.A.: the bandom The Fast and the Furious AU that literally no one asked for.

Mini-Review: Ghost Hunt
High schooler Mai Taniyama accepts a job offer from the Shibuya Psychic Research Center as an assistant to its leader, enigmatic 17-year-old Kazuya “Naru” Shibuya. The firm investigates various strange phenomena at the behest of its clients, joined by a spirit medium, a shrine maiden, an exorcist, and a monk.
Look, this is my shit. A combination of mystery and the supernatural, creepy but rarely reaching horror levels, my biggest problem with this series is that it has 25 episodes and I WANT MORE.
Tumblr media
You’ve got your everygirl protagonist: Mai Taniyami. Roped into helping when the assistant to the guy called in to investigate a possible haunting at her school gets injured, she proves to have a talent for sussing things out, and accepts a job offer.
Mai? Is great. She can be impulsive and might yell at her boss for not doing the right thing (in a moral sense), but in a way that felt fairly realistic to me. Plunge into danger to save someone? Sure, I can believe that! Ask questions that people seem to be ignoring? Also reasonable! She is our proxy, hoping for the best and caring for people when the Experts (particularly her boss) seem to be callous.
Tumblr media
THIS ASSHOLE ON THE OTHER HAND
To be clear, Naru’s whole thing is that he’s stuck-up. He gets the nickname “Naru” because Mai thinks he’s narcissistic. He’s 17 and the head of a paranormal research agency, blunt and rude, and clearly hiding some secrets. He’s not so bad that you (probably) hate him, but he’s Mai’s opposite.
He ALSO has a communication problem, and we all know how much I want to reach into my screen and strangle people who don’t communicate. The problem is along the lines of “I let you think this thing we’d do would hurt people and so you got very upset and yelled at me in front of everyone, but it turns out we’re doing the thing in a way that WON’T hurt people!” but still, it’s an asshole move because I can’t think of a single instance where he couldn’t at least have said “I don’t have time to explain, but we’re being careful.”
Tumblr media
The side characters are what really make the show great. You’ve got your Catholic exorcist, a young priest with a disposition as sunny as his hair...
Tumblr media
...a teenage spirit medium who dresses in traditional kimono and has a crush on Naru, a shrine maiden unattached to a shrine (Ayako gets the short stick as far as character development and doesn’t get a chance to shine until the last case of the series, I am bitter), and a monk-on-hiatus who’s part of a rock band.
Monk is one of the best parts of the series: besides being just a fun (and competent!!!) character, he also takes the role of big brother/uncle to Mai, and they have a very sweet relationship.
youtube
Tumblr media
While the characters are the heart of the show, we do actually have stories: the things they’re called in to deal with. These range from “minor nuisance in the park” to “evil entity actively murdering people.”
The story spends time with them, too! I think there was only one case in the entire series that was wrapped up in one episode. Everything else ranges from 2-4 episodes, so it can really take its time focusing on their investigations and drama. Most stories are what you’d expect from ghost stories: spirits, dark and creepy atmosphere, etc, but one 4-episode arc near the end of the series did feature an old hospital and murders and shots of blood (though no shots of actively bleeding people or bodies).
(This happened to the be arc in which my roommate joined me, so I was like it usually isn’t like this I swear please don’t leave I don’t want to watch this bit alone)
Tumblr media
The manga it’s based on was never fully released in the USA (11/12 volumes came out before its publisher imploded, and it was never picked up again by anyone else) and is now out of print, so the anime is really your only chance to legally enjoy it in any form.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Verdict
English dub? Yes, and Mai’s English voice is one of my favorites--she actually sounds like a teenage girl! Tonally, in her indignation, everything! Everyone else is fine: Ayako the shrine maiden’s voice almost perfectly matches her Japanese one, and both capture that slightly-snobby-lady vibe. Catholic exorcist John’s given an Australian accent (I think in the original he speaks Japanese with a Kansai accent, so this is trying to convey the “different dialect” idea); older assistant Lin sounds exactly like a serious man in his twenties, and Monk sounds not just realistic, but perfectly captures his ability to switch from casual to serious, joking to caring.
Naru’s voice stands out the most as someone trying to match the Japanese voice, because his has elements of trying to lower the voice (not trying to make it deep, but...if you’ve watched a lot of anime dubs, you know what I mean--sometimes male characters in Japanese have a low-pitched, semi-softness quality that we really don’t hear in American English voices, so it’s always obvious to me when someone is trying to do that in a dub.)
Visuals: I mean, it’s from 2006 so it’s not going to blow you away, but it’s not ugly.
Worth watching? YES. PLEASE. I’ve watched the entire thing through twice now.
I mean, there are flaws. Often the female characters are relegated to watching and guarding while the males actively attack or defend. Naru should be nicer to the teenager he employs. The anime came out while the manga was still being produced, so we don’t get to delve into characters’ backstories, but the series does at least end happily.
Where to watch (USA, as of June 2020): Funimation (sub and dub)
