Rangerlock Wyll Build

Theorycrafted how I'd make Ranger/Warlock Wyll in game. The idea is that once he knows he will be released from the pact at some point (at the end of act 2), which allows him to get acquainted with the ranger class while still using his warlock powers.
TL;DR: Fighter 2, Beast Master Ranger 5, Pact of the Blade Warlock 5. Hits nice and hard.
Light spoilers for the epilogue and my build under the cut.
We know from the epilogue from the Blade!Wyll ending that:
He became a ranger and has a wolf named Lily, which means he took the Beast Master subclass
He uses shortswords which means he is a Two Weapon Fighter
And he had to unlearn using his warlock powers, which means he kept using them till it was over.
With that in mind, the optimal build I think for Rangerlock Wyll is Beast Master Ranger 5, Fiend Pact of the Blade Warlock 5, Fighter 2. Here's how I would level him. (Note: Everything here is purely my opinion, you should definitely pick and rearrange whatever you like more.)
Level 1: Start with Fighter so you get access to heavy armor.
8 Str, 16 Dex, 14 Con, 8 Int, 10 Wis, 17 Cha.
Take Two Weapon Fighting Style (or Dueling or Great Weapon Fighting if you prefer that more. Dueling allows Wyll to hold a shield) and whatever skills you fancy.
Level 2: Continue with Warlock.
Patron: The Fiend.
Cantrips: Eldritch Blast + Friends if you're the party leader, or Mage Hand if no one else has it.
Spells: Hellish Rebuke and Hex. Use Hex: Strength at the beginning of every fight. Use Eldritch Blast when you can't reach the enemy.
Level 3: Warlock 2.
Eldritch Invocations: Agonising Blast and Beguiling Influence if you're the party leader, or Devil's Sight.
Spell: Armor of Agathys.
Level 4: Warlock 3. Pact Boon: Pact of the Blade. From now on, always bind your weapon after every Long Rest (important!).
Spell: Darkness. From now on, use Darkness at the beginning of a fight, try to only cover enemies. (Darkness is stupidly powerful against enemies, and having Devil's Sight means you don't get blinded. You are now a force to be reckoned with. Give your allies anti-blind items and they can join you.)
Level 5: Warlock 4.
Cantrip: Blade Ward.
Spell: Misty Step or Hold Person.
Feat: War Caster so enemies don't smack you out of dropping darkness.
Level 6: Warlock 5.
Eldritch Invocation: Beast Speech or Repelling Blast if you like to knock things off ledges.
Spell: Counterspell (so good).
You now have Deepened Pact, which gives you an extra attack. Unlike other extra attacks from other classes, this stacks! (except on Honour Mode)
Level 7: Finally on to Ranger. (You can also get Fighter 2 here if you want, it's up to you.)
Get any proficiency you like.
Favored Enemy: Bounty Hunter.
Natural Explorer: Wasteland Wanderer Fire (other options are fine too).
Level 8: Ranger 2.
Fighting Style: Defence.
Spells: Ensnaring Strike and Longstrider.
Level 9: Ranger 3.
Subclass: Beast Master (Lily, finally!)
Spell: Enhance Leap or Cure Wounds.
Level 10: Ranger 4.
Feat: Dual Wielder or Ability Improvement (+2 Cha)
Level 12: Finally, Fighter 2.
Level 11: Ranger 5. We get an extra attack (which stacks with Deepend Pact which is soooo sexy) and Lily gets stronger.
Spell: Lesser Restoration.
All together, you should be a melee monster. You can hit 3 times in 1 turn, Darkness and high AC from heavy armor and your bonuses means enemies can't hit you but you can hit them quite well. Even without Darkness, Wyll and Lily can make mincemeat of monsters.
Other multiclasses you can try for Wyll are Paladinlock or Bardlock because of their matching stats, or Beast Master Ranger 11 Fighter 1 for a very strong wolf.
#I hope this build is clear for everyone!#poke me if something doesn't make sense <3#wyll ravengard#bg3 wyll#baldur's gate 3#Wyll Epilogue#Ranger Warlock Build#Build Theorycrafting

The Fiendish Ranger - a Wyll Build
"Battle favours the fearless."
Wyll is a Fiend Warlock and Hunter Ranger, trusting his own prowess in battle alongside his patron's magic. This build leans into narrative continuity while still being fairly effective in combat.
[check out my other builds!]
Gameplay Notes
The goal here is to make Wyll a decent melee fighter, without dipping into the Fighter or Paladin classes [either of which would, to be clear, make this build so much stronger]. Ranger gives a lot of utility and there are several lore-friendly and strong items that work great with Wyll’s character, so the build is perfectly serviceable in lower difficulty levels.
Ranger and Warlock have very limited synergies, but it’s important to note that this build does not put anything extra into WIS. Instead, the build prioritizes DEX for melee attacks with a rapier and CHA for spellcasting and items boosts.
Stats and Leveling
Final build: Level 5 Fiend Warlock, Level 7 Hunter Ranger [PLEASE NOTE: when you reach Level 6 and are starting to add Ranger levels, RECLASS to start Ranger Level 1, that way your item spell-casting modifier will still be CHA, which is relatively essential for the build. I know I usually avoid doing this because I like keeping people as their starting class, but I think this is an exception because it’s just a quirk of how bg3 handles multiclassing. more info on the bg3 wiki]
Wyll’s (default) stats: STR 8 / DEX 13 / CON 14 / INT 13 / WIS 10 / CHA 17
Level 1 - Warlock (The Fiend) Level 1
Cantrips: Eldritch Blast, Bone Chill
1st Level Spells [Hex is essential, Hellish Rebuke and Burning Hands are thematic]
Level 2 - Warlock (The Fiend) Level 2
Eldritch Invocations: Agonising Blast and Devil’s Sight [I love picking Devil’s Sight on Wyll because of Mizora’s sending stone eye… something about it feels fitting]
Level 3 - Warlock (The Fiend) Level 3
Pact Boon: Pact of the Blade
2nd Level Spells [Cloud of Daggers is my favorite spell in the game]
Level 4 - Warlock (The Fiend) Level 4
Feat: ASI+ DEX>16
Cantrip: Friends [but pick whatever you like]
Level 5 - Warlock (The Fiend) Level 5
Deepened Pact/Extra Attack
3rd Level Spells [Hunger of Hadar and Counterspell are my recommendations]
Level 6 - Ranger Level 1 [PLEASE NOTE: when you reach Level 6 and are starting to add Ranger levels, RECLASS to start Ranger Level 1, that way your item spell-casting modifier will still be CHA, which is relatively essential for the build. I know I usually avoid doing this because I like keeping people as their starting class, but I think this is an exception because it’s just a quirk of how bg3 handles multiclassing. more info on the bg3 wiki]
Favored Enemy: Keeper of the Veil
Natural Explorer: Wasteland Wanderer: Fire
Level 7 - Ranger Level 2
Fighting Style: Duelling
1st Level Spells [WIS wont be high enough for anything incredibly relevant, so prioritize utility]
Level 8 - Ranger (Hunter) Level 3
Hunter’s Prey: Colossus Slayer
Level 9 - Ranger (Hunter) Level 4
Feat: ASI+ DEX>14, CHA>18
Level 10 - Ranger (Hunter) Level 5
Extra Attack [if you’re not in Honor Mode, this stacks with Pact of the Blade]
2nd Level Spells
Level 11 - Ranger (Hunter) Level 6
Favoured Enemy: Bounty Hunter [at this point in the story, he might have talked about wanting to track Mizora down]
Natural Explorer: Wasteland Wanderer: Poison [this is basically a random pick, choose whatever you want]
Level 12 - Ranger (Hunter) Level 7
Defensive Tactics: Multiattack Defense
Items
Armor - Helldusk Armour (3 House of Hope)
Melee Weapon - Infernal Rapier (2 Mindflayer Colony)
Ranged Weapon - Crossbow of Arcane Force (1 Creche)
Amulet - The Spectator Eyes (1 Underdark)
Helmet -
Diadem of Arcane Synergy (1 Creche)
Helldusk Helmet (3 House of Hope)
Ring 1 - Ring of Arcane Synergy (1 Creche)
Ring 2 - Burnished Ring (3 House of Hope)
Gloves - Helldusk Gloves (3 House of Hope)
Boots - Helldusk Boots (3 Wrym’s Rock)
Cloak - Cloak of Displacement (3 Danthelon's Dancing Axe)
Lore and Flavor
If Wyll manages to break his pact with Mizora, he settles into the life of a heroic ranger — faring just fine without his patron’s powers. In a lot of ways, the ranger class is a bit of a blank slate (if you ignore the stereotypical “Aragorn-esque” theming), and I think the writers of BG3 reference the class primarily to explain how Wyll, a relatively low strength character, could succeed in physical combat in the Hells. So this build leans into that!
I enjoy roleplaying this build as if Wyll becomes more and more hesitant to use his powers as the story progresses, especially in Act 3 where his personal narrative comes more into play. I also LOVE putting Wyll in the Helldusk armor set — partially because I think it looks awesome on his character, and partially because I feel that the hellfire synergy makes sense for his character. [is it entirely optimized to use the whole set on one character? probably not! but idc] Usually, by the time I actually manage to get out of the House of Hope alive, Wyll has already declared himself the Blade of Avernus, so I think it fits. Plus, I always try to put the Helldusk armor on a character that wouldn’t otherwise be able to wear heavy armor, so that’s an added bonus. The one downside is that I can’t quite believe Wyll would go to Avernus in the best armor in the whole game and then show up to the epilogue six months later in a feathery tank top. [jk he can do whatever he wants, maybe he got too hot or something lmao]
A note about the Infernal Rapier: While I’d also recommend Duellist’s Prerogative (3 Lora), I am so in love with the description of the Infernal Rapier that I can’t part with it: “this blade is Wyll's soul summarised in steel.” I think he would switch it out after losing his powers (and therefore not benefitting from the Melee Caster attribute), but that doesn’t happen until after the game is done, so I leave him with the Infernal Rapier from the moment I get it through the defeat of the Brain.
[check out my build disclaimer for info about how and why I don't min/max or completely optimize builds, prioritizing lore and vibe instead]

Question: would a TMA Slaughter coded avatar Tav be just a Warlock Bardbarian or technically would they also have some levels in Monk?
#bg3 posting#yes I'm trying to figure out character builds based on tma avatars shut up#vast is easy because it's warlock storm sorc and tempest cleric#warlock is essential to all character builds because technically of the you feed your patron it feeds you thing from TMA#but I'm trying to figure out Slaughter and just#honestly some builds are easier than others#like Hive? just go druid#Hunt is Ranger#Beholding is Wizard and maybe Lore Bard#Lonely is Draconic Sorc who uses fog cloud exclusively#desolation is just Karlach

now that there is a C4 confirmation I keep trying to write up my wish list but honestly until we know more about system/setting it's quite literally just this:
Travis Willingham Full Caster Prayer Circle
Melee tank for Marisha
If we are in Exandria and Travis isn't playing a cleric, Liam should play a cleric
Laura should play (if in D&D) a Warlock or Rogue and revisit the classes she passed over.
ironically despite being a Fan of Paladins everyone in the CR cast I really want to see play a paladin has already done so either literally through multiclassing or figuratively (Ashley as Yasha) so I'm way more interested in seeing a ranger (anyone not listed above/I'd be into a melee ranger build for Marisha)
Otherwise more info is needed

okay but Wyll is like. a prodigy, actually. and I want to talk about that more
like he is a folk hero for a reason. it's not just because he's so nice to people. he is also an incredible adventurer.
when you meet him in the Grove, he is on a level with you—but dialogue makes it clear that's because the tadpole fucked with his capabilities. if you have him around and hear his little interparty exchanges and reactive lines, he talks about things he's done as the Blade of Frontiers, and they include wrestling a giant one-on-one, and fighting a dragon. by himself.
he fought a dragon by himself!!
like (spoilers for end of game), even when you fight a dragon in the finale, you're not doing it ALONE. you have 3 other party members and as many allies as you care to summon. WYLL WAS ALONE IN THE WOODS WITH WHATEVER SUPPLIES HE COULD SCRAPE TOGETHER AS A SOLO ADVENTURER. AND HE FOUGHT A DRAGON.
by all accounts, I think it's reasonable to guess that before the tadpole, he was more powerful than the level 12 cap that's built into the game. and sure, he's a warlock drawing power from a bond, but most D&D lore I've encountered build in the idea that warlocks need a certain amount of skill and prowess to handle the power offered to them by their patron—there's a reason warlocks and clerics still level up, rather than just shooting to the top of the ladder. PLUS, he had to know how to use that power effectively.
and then!! (spoilers for epilogue) if he does the Avernus version of his ending, he's become a ranger within the 6 months since you've last seen him. and not like, he took a level or two in ranger and he's working his way up to it. he tells you about devils he's killed that are on par with the dangers y'all faced in your adventures—and he's doing this either with only Karlach for company, or possibly even by himself (??? I've only ever had him go with Karlach, I can't stand it). so. he is ALSO now one of the most powerful RANGERS in the realms. IN 6 MONTHS.
which makes sense! he wouldn't lose all his adventuring knowledge and skills just because the pact is ended! but to master an entirely new discipline, magic and all, in such a short time??
WYLL RAVENGARD HERO OF THE REALMS. WYLL RAVENGARD GENIUS OF ADVENTURE. WYLL RAVENGARD CAN DO ANYTHING HE SETS HIS MIND TO
#i also love to drive myself to distraction thinking about what it must feel like to lose so much power and be facing imminent doom and#immediately turn all of that to trying to rescue the people of the grove. what is with this guy#don't mind me i'm just in love with him#wyll ravengard#baldur's gate 3#nyssa says things#nyssa's gate video game tag

*deep breath*
Artificer, while having their cons, that might actually fit well with little Cruvo :), have a good amount of spells near them, also healing, so they are a great support for a party in the wild with Tyelko, having them in your party makes it easy to create magic items, not to mention that they can creator things you need. However they tend to be overwhelming to play as they have so many class features, so the player might forget some of them, also they are not... as durable... as other classes, and rely a lot on their creations. So while they are one of the best support classes they can also be... useless... depending on what kind of play you want. They would however be great in an explore campaign rather than a fight constantly campaign, as they tend to rely on magic to build.
They are no great damage dealers, not near a fighter, rouge, etc, which works well with Curufin. He has to fight his battles at a distance or with words.
Whoever they don´t have a lot of strength or charisma which I see Curufin as having, so I would choose the subclass Battle Smith for him. This will also give him some neat spells, but not so many so that he doesn´t feel material anymore, just enough to aid him in combat - and I actually feel like it fits him.
Battle Smiths are made for defending others, repairing, and even get a steel defender for themself as a companion! As you can change your stats to what you want, I would look if I could put more stats on charisma and then strength after level three, not for a better build, but to better fit him.
I would go with both Fëanor and Curufin are Artificer, but since Fëanor uses it in Valinor most it is never seen as a problem, until he goes right into a battle and dies, as Artificer are not made to be fighter, but instead a supporter. Likewise Curufin would be exposed to a lot of the cons from the class due to the war, and rely heavily on Celegorm in most things, but even though at some small times he is much needed.
I´m saying both Fëanor and Curufin die because their class and the way they use it sucks in a war/constant fight campaign, and I love that :)
I´m not really that much in on the Artificer as a class so I know there´s someone out there with a better understanding
A last note, Curufin as a Sorcerer, Aberrant Mind, with tweaked stats, to make him stronger, would also work I think, although I don´t like the whole telepathically and transforming your body would fit him. so maybe also a Warlock?? - but only if Artificer isn´t a choice.
(Please tag/comment/reblog Ranger if that's your answer - unfortunately I ran out of option slots in the poll and Artificer seemed more likely)
#now im going to bed :)#also mae paladin oath of vegence later oathbreaker for reasons#maglor bard who would have thought#celegorm multiclass fighter battle master and ranger beast master to get the animal companion and later speak with animals and archery#caranthir warlock would love him as hexblade as his charisma also can be used in weapon attacks and he can be charismatic with a temper#wait caranthir as a rouge or a multiclass warlock rouge would also be neat#amras as a rouge as either a scout or a mastermind fully based on him and amrod exploring first thing when they arrive#time to get shocked#amrod as a loremaster wizard although this is purly based on my own hc of being a lore master#a lot of dm dont want loremaster for good reasons might i say i can also see him as a multiclass rouge inquisitive wizard order of scribes#it woundlt be a strong build but it would be fun lorewise - for amrod#tolkien#silmarillion#curufin

Hi chat I'm going INSANE right now thinking about thunderbolts as dnd 5e classes and races I've been yapping about it with my sibling and I just need to shareee what I have so far oughhhhh this is so fun
Bob is a wild magic sorcerer and an aasamir. Possibly the fallen aasamir subrace because, yknow, void and all that. Void is also why I picked wild magic sorcerer tbh
Bucky has a lot going on mainly because my sibling is a giant bucky fan. He's a half elf (but didn't know this, cause he was like possibly abandoned at an orphanage or smth). Hydra in this dnd type universe would be an organisation of bloodhunters and a cult who serves literally like an eldritch hydra and works for it. So when Bucky ends up with them he becomes a bloodhunter and warlock multiclass (because he has a pact with the hydra) and after he escapes and what not he becomes a plain old bloodhunter cause he broke the pact. For subclass we were thinking order of the mutant bloodhunter it just makes sense I think.
I need to sit with Yelena a bit more really BUT a human rogue is what we're going for so far. Subclass ehhhhh assassin. Yeah. Yeah
Ava was HARD trying to figure out some way to get her like, teleport stuff factored in. We settled on fey wanderer ranger mainly because of the teleportation spells you get at 5th and 13th level (misty step and dimension door). Kind of unsure on race atp but probably like elf, half elf or human
Walker is. Okay. Walkers human first off he is human. Second, captain america gives BIG paladin vibes (oath of the crown, specifically) and this factors in to the reasoning of an oathbreaker paladin fighter multiclass with literally like one or two levels in oathbreaker before he decided this shit wasn't working out and he just invested in being a fighter. Is this like an optimised build or whatever? No probably not but this is vibes based and it fits The Vibes okay
Now, finally we have Alexei. A barbarian for SUREE and literally mostly because it amuses me he's a red dragonborn (because he's. Yknow. The Red Guardian.) Oh subclass RIGHT uhhhh thinking path of the giant or berserker really, not super sure yet
ANYWAY yeah thats all I have for now uh. There will probably be more thoughts at some point pleaseeee yap to me about this if you're interested I have brainworms
#thunderbolts#yelena belova#bucky barnes#john walker#bob reynolds#ava starr#alexei shostakov#v's thoughts

Your art style has such a mochi texture to it I love it so much
Do you have any OCs you can show and maybe info dump about?
hi hi aaaa thank you and yes i'd love to talk about some of my children even though i actually suck at backstories and sometimes don't bother with them at all so i hope that's ok gkfjdkgjfd
this is my baby rune they're lovely and round and they have many friends but their favourite friend is arden mmmmmmm rune is a little wizard who works hard but is a little bit dumb,,, they try to be very responsible but they're also naive and oblivious,,, which is why they have arden to help out because arden is the most protective and frankly untrusting person gkfdjkg like who hurt you. she's a cool ranger gal with a cool tattoo who lives in the woods and teaches rune about adventuring and fighting monsters and stuff. until she realizes that rune is not just a silly cutie but also really powerful and cool and she develops a big crush
and i'm sorry to bring up my dnd character once more BUT I LOVE HER SHE'S MY PRECIOUS DAUGHTER,,,,,, her name is roselle fayanna mistweaver and she's a proper little lady from a wealthy upper class family who was taught to be proper and good and skilled and quiet and happy all the time and- she's not that,,,,, her older sisters are good at everything and she's just... not. her parents weren't around much and she could feel their disappointment so much that she desperately looked for ways to prove herself,,,, and she found a dryad's magic and made a pact with her... elri gave her a way to make her drawings come to life with magic and roselle became a bard!!!!!! :D (not a warlock hehe. unless????) the magic is very weird and freaky though and sometimes weird shit happens. roselle ended up running away from home and she's now lost with an adventuring party in vampires and werewolves land. which SUCKS but!!!!! she can maybe find a way to be cool and useful for her new friends????? maybe????
and and and idk if this counts but my sona has lore??? sorta??????? i'm slowly building/revealing it on my mc server gkfjkg and i hope it's not lame but. i might show some of the stuff i put into the world here if anyone's interested? :O for now all you gotta know is that they're mostly moss. and they don't know many things. but they have a lot of robot friends... just not many... living ones... until the other ant cats arrived on the server!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i don't do a lot of oc stuff anymore but i'm very passionate about the children i do have!!!!!! i'm sorry the backstories are so next to nothing but i hope this was at least a little interesting!!!!!!! :D <3

astro placements as dungeons and dragons heroes and monsters
fun fact about me - i am a total nerd! when i was in middle school and introduced to having step-sisters, my father brought out old 2e dungeons and dragons manuals and adventures. i have been in love with the game ever since. BUT - a sadness - i don't really have a group or anything anymore so now it's just a fond memory. in honor of those memories is this post.
paid reading options: astrology menu & cartomancy menu

8h scorpio (8°, 20°) sun
rogue: always calculating the next move. people typically underestimate them but they are often masters of secrets, deception, and psychological warfare. their personal power comes from what others fear to confront.
vampire: powerful and strategic as hell - they don’t just fight, they control the battlefield. they lure people in, offering them what they desire most, only to twist it to their advantage (hi, count orlok). their presence shifts the energy in the room.

8h scorpio (8°, 20°) moon
warlock/witch: they are bound to something mysterious that most people can't comprehend. they are hyper-intuitive, they see what others don’t. their gut instincts rarely fail them.
mindflayer: they exist in depths that most people can’t even reach. they don’t communicate with words - they can project thoughts, emotions, and fears straight into people’s minds. they are incredibly intuitive, manipulative, and secretive (always several steps ahead). they don’t just want control - they want absolute understanding of all the people around them.

8h scorpio (8°, 20°) mercury
bard: their words have power, and they know exactly how to use them to manipulate, persuade, and/or cut someone down. they can read between the lines and say just the right thing to unnerve or inspire someone. their mind is a locked vault, but they are a master at unlocking others’ people thoughts.
banshee: it’s a creature of intense emotional power, one that often manipulates others with their haunting voice. they have the ability to speak in ways that are both entrancing and unnerving.

9h sagittarius (9°, 21°) venus
ranger: drawn to adventure. their love language? spontaneous trips and deep late-night conversations about the meaning of life lol.
sphinx: these creature are mystics, philosophers, and keeper of forbidden knowledges. they test people - mentally and spiritually. they jive only with those who can match their intellect and curiosity.

7h virgo (6°, 18°) mars
monk: precision is this person's weapon - they are methodical in action, always calculating their next move. they fight with discipline and efficiency; never wasting their energy. they strategize, plan, and strike when the moment is right.
anti-paladin: they are commander, and a tactician - they do not rush into combat but instead calculates every move carefully. always acting when the time is right, they maintain control with calculated restraint.

3h gemini (3°, 15°, 27°) jupiter
wizard: quick-witted, adaptable, and always full of ideas, they thrive in environments where they can share and absorb information. they love learning for the sake of learning, and theit wisdom comes from diverse experiences rather than just tradition.
doppelgänger: they are adaptability incarnate - constantly shifting, learning, and outmaneuvering their opponents. no one really knows who they are, because they shift personas as easily as changing clothes. they never fight directly if they don’t have to - they let people defeat themselves by getting in their head.

3h taurus (2°, 14°, 26°) saturn
fighter: they believe in earned success - no shortcuts, no easy way out. this is a reliable class, they build their skills and knowledge steadily over time.
iron golem: they are an unyielding force - the thing that doesn’t move, no matter what happens. they have a foundation of unshakable strength.

What D&D classes I think Arcane characters would be
Ignoring the obvious background implications of certain classes, this is mostly just observation and personality based.
Classes will be in bold, subclasses italicized.
Vi - Monk, Warrior of The Open Hand. I debated on whether or not I should make her a barbarian instead, but her power in combat lies in her boxing skills and not so much reliance on weapons.
Jinx - Artificer, Artillerist /Ranger, Gloom Stalker multiclass.
Ekko - Druid, Circle of the Land/Artificer, no subclass multiclass. Even if it takes building everything from the ground up to accomplish his dreams, he will fight for others to thrive; for fresh air, for a bit of green amongst the grey.
Caitlyn - Ranger, Hunter.
Jayce - Paladin, Oath of The Ancients/Wizard, School of Divination multiclass.
Viktor - Wizard, School of Transmutation/Warlock, Archfey Patron multiclass. The hexcore is his patron, just trust me bro.
Mel - Sorcerer, Divine Soul. Birthright magic with the protective abilities of a cleric.
Ambessa - Barbarian, Berserker/Fighter, Battle Master multiclass.
Silco - Rogue, Assassin.
Vander - Barbarian, Wild Heart. Lol.
Bonus:
Isha - Rogue, Thief.
Lemme know what you think and please be respectful!

alright time for my cloudward ho! class predictions (that are probably mostly wrong lmao)
Daisuke (Zac's character): Gunslinger fighter. I've never been more sure of anything in my life (please be right I don't want to look dumb-)
Marya (Emily's character): I'm thinking possibly warlock?? (probably with some other multiclass in there) She seemed to have something happen in the time between the family picture we get and the campaign. She's more gaunt and seems to have lost some naivety. So hyped for the dramatic backstory. If not-- maybe a wizard? (I just really want Emily to play a wizard lol) no matter what its gonna be an absolutely busted build
Montgomery (Lou's character): Some sort of nature based class like druid or ranger. Which may seem odd, but his character art included lots of vials and flowers, and he's wearing some sort of animal's tooth. If I had to pick one, ranger.
Maxwell (Murph's character). I have no damn clue. Probably martial class based on the "he looks like an athlete" description. Fighter or paladin if I had to guess.
Van (Siobhan's character): I'm guessing some sort of martial class? Barbarian maybe? (martial class Siobhan character save me 🙏)
Olethra (Ally's character): I'm thinking Armorer Artificer from the teaser - "my grandma gave me a massive mech suit". If not artificer, I'm lowkey getting crazy bard vibes from the character and the art.

D&D classes
The other day I was messing around with some spare minifig parts and thought it would be fun to make figs based on the 12 D&D classes. None of these characters have names, just races and classes. I did try to build them in a way that would show what each of their classes are.

Orc Fighter, Elf Rogue, Drow Wizard

Githyanki Cleric, Tiefling Barbarian, Human Ranger

Aarakocra Sorcerer, Half-Elf Paladin, Dragonborn Monk

Centaur Warlock, Halfling Bard, Dwarf Druid

And of course, what is a D&D party without an enemy, so I also made a Warforged BBEG

KN8 vs DnD
Since I had yesterday an eventful DnD session, so here is what I think the characters themselves think of the game. Not what I think they should be (that's in the bracket). I'm open to discussion.
Kafka in high school probably was in DnD club, didn't own many books himself but relied on collections in the club room. Pretty good with homebrewing, knows all the rules. Had to put a pause on gaming after starting working in Monster Sweeper, tried to get his coworkers into it but it didn't exactly catch on. Was overjoyed to find a small group at the Third. While he plays a variety of classes and races for the campaign he probably would pick a paladin or a cleric. our of combat has horrible dice luck lol. (he probably gets monk/barbarian or to spice it up Blood Hunter. for race changeling maybe? Or tiefling?)
Hoshina - DMs worst nightmare. Min-maxes everything about his characters. Owned every book. (Thankfully from DM perspective) Due to his position as Vice Captain doesn't have much time to play, so only joins for oneshots. Fighter and or rogue. (Rogue/bard, I'd agree to figher/rogue multiclass as well.)
Mina - doesn't necessarily get the game, she only took notice of it because of Hoshina and she wanted to be seen as more sociable. Soshiro helped her create her Coffeelock build but it is very hard for her to play. Keeps forgetting about things. She played in one game and then gave up. (Warlock. It's the Eldritch blasts and Baku as her summon)
Iharu - never heard of the game until Kafka, thought it was for nerds but joined in for one game when Reno did but he gets distracted easily unless it's combat time. Stays to annoy Kikoru. He picks Barbarian. (Iharu is so straightforward he absolutely is a barbarian)
Reno - politely declined, joined one game once just to see how it is but it didn't take. Picked probably a druid. (IDK lol maybe sorcerer, or warlock? Druid???)
Kikoru - made fun of them, picked a fight with Iharu, so out of sheer spite/competitiveness joined the game, learned all the rules before the session. Min Maxes as well but tries to make it all more in tune with the character backstory she created (there's a 10 page long pdf document). Probably picked a sorcerer or paladin? (She is 100% barbarian, might multiclass, noble background?)
Aoi - paints minis as his hobby, very meticulous player. I think it be funny if he picked a bard as a purely support class without the popular meme aspect. Just play it as you should with high charisma for negotiations and difusing situations or distracting enemies. Pulled Kafka's poor ass out of Situations so often (fighter, next!).
Haruichi - to play in the ongoing theme for him in the manga - ranger. Joined the game to try and be more 'visible' picked not the best class. (Artificer or Ranger as well, Gloomstalker or Hunter the new rules fixed up the class, and he got a pretty shiny bow in the manga so going for Archery angle).
Minase - sorcerer, joined with Kikoru, doesn't talk much but has fun, pretty reliable player. Maybe picked kenku.
Hakua - doesn't really play but joins in for company and often does extra voices for DM.
Okonogi - the poor Forever DM Hosina terrorizes lol. (wizard)

dnd 5e builds for base strive cast (+ goldlewis!)
Sol: either an Artificer (Battlesmith) w a Barbarian (Totem) dip where his Steel Defender is his bike and Elk/Bear rage is dragon install OR a Wizard (Bladesinger) with a belt (headband) of giant strength and Tasha's Otherworldy Guise as his DI
Ky: Hexbalde Warlock w a Battlemaster Fighter dip since he seems charismatic and his patron cld be the Thunderseal. His manouevres: Trip (Stun Dipper), Lunge (Foudre Arc), Riposte (Vapor Thrust). Meanwhile, Eldritch Blast = Stun Edge, Booming Blade = Dire Eclat, can blow his limited spell slots on Lightning Bolt (Sacred Edge) or Hasted Booming Blades + Relentless Hex or just Thunder Step (RTL). Possibly take a sorc (Storm) dip or the Metamagic Adept feat to transmute spell and change his damage types to lightning + gain flying speed.
May: Ranger (Beastmaster) for sea animal shenanigans. Possible dips into Paladin (Devotion, to the Jellyfish Pirates) or Fighter (Cavalier) for mounted combat features and bonuses (e.g. Find Greater Steed)
Axl: Ranger (Horizon Walker) + Monk (Kensei)/Fighter (Battlemaster). The boring and "correct" answer here is pure bladesinger wiz using a flavoured whip for the Time Stop spell, but the teleportation offered by Horizon Walker and the idea of slipping between planes of existence seems flavourful. Ranger features also have a bit more trap laying flavour. Monk bonuses for movement speed + unarmoured defense to remain slippery while dressing casual.
Chipp: Monk (Shadow) with the Fey Touched and Shadow Touched feats for access to Shadow Teleport + Misty Step + Shadow Blade and maybe a small spellcaster dip into Sorcerer (Shadow) if only to get Quickened Spell for ninja flavour + Mirror Image (multiple Chipps!)
Potemkin: although a pure Fighter (Champion) is tempting, the 4 attacks per turn feels at odds w the slower, lumbering idea of Potemkin. Instead I propose DM fiat to allow smiting while Unarmed, then build Potemkin as a Variant Human (base feat used to learn Unarmed Fighting style) with full Paladin (Glory or Redemption). His devotion and larger than life presence give him moral power behind his blows which are weighty (big ass smites) but infrequent (2 per turn). The other athleticism, tanky abilities come from his Paladin subclass features. Spells like Command and Compelled Duel reflect his intimidating presence and ability to control the field. Spells like Thunderous Smite and Destructive Wave reflect his sheer terrain-altering strength. Feats could include Grappler, Tavern Brawler, Tough.
Faust: Pure Wild Magic Sorcerer or an even split btwn Wild Magic Sorc and Life Cleric. Dimension Door/Misty Step for teleports. Items could represent by: Meteors (Minute Meteors), Bomb (Delayed Blast Fireball), 100T Weight (Earth Tremor/Earthquake), Donut/Banana (Healing Word/Cure Wounds), Afro (reflavoured Web since its also a control debuff that turns into damage after fire exposure), Minifaust (so many summon spells but I like the idea of Guardian of Faith from Cleric), Trumpet (Insect Plague), Hammer (Catapult). And then Haste can be used with Quickened Spell to simulate item throw super. Tack on a couple fighter levels perhaps to Action Surge and emulate the 100 tension version + give some oomph to the occasional scalpel normal.
Millia: not base dnd but i think she fits a Blood Hunter (Lycan) pretty well. The flavour of undergoing a dangerous and forbidden procedure for power, the hair transformations... probably uses Rite of the Oracle (psychic) and Blood Curse of Binding (tandem top) to hold enemies in place for devastating up close "mixups" while still remaining highly mobile.
Zato: Fighter (Echo Knight) w a Monk (Long Death) dip (or, potentially, Undead Warlock). Fragile but frequently summonable puppet fighter w a Monk dip for the "unarmoured melee fighter" vibe + undying flavour or Warlock dip for more spell slinging vibe+ access to flight spells.
Ramlethal: taking a bit more from her Xrd incarnation, a mixed Cleric (Twilight) for access to Spiritual Weapon for the "remote/hovering sword" + a hover/fly movement rather than regular walking and a Warlock (Hexblade) with the Eldritch Smite invocation to burn spell slots for chunky damage that knocks enemies flat on their asses (Mortobato).
Leo: Rogue (Swashbuckler ) + Barbarian (Totem). Probably a Tiger/Elk Barb for the movement speed and the animalistic vibe, while the Rogue levels and Swashbuckler features give the idea of a speedy duelist who occasionally snipes out big damage hits from "converting" movement speed based mixups. (also Swashbucklers benefit from Charisma, which leo definitely has since hes led so many soldiers to their deaths 🥰)
Nago: Fighter (Samurai). I think a majority of Nago's features and design are reflected in this subclass- the idea of a fighter who takes a slow and measured approach while occasionally bursting into a flurry of sudden violence. The high level Samurai feature of taking another turn upon getting dropped also kind of feels like Nago blood rage- a last second gambit at the verge of defeat type of deal.
Gio: Monk (Astral Self). Gio's features as an unarmed, unarmoured, mobile fighter w a not-quite animal spirit are perfectly encapsulated in this subclass, down to her appearance transformations at high tension
Anji: Bard (Swords) with Fighter (Battlemaster) dip and the Dual Wielder feat. Swords Bard explains his armoured twirl (Defensive Flourish) and other more magical effects like the butterfly, koi, and his cinematic super. Battlemaster Trip (rekka low), Push (corner carry off fuujin), Sweep (spinny spins), Parry/Riposte (dedicated counters).
I-No: Oddly enough i dont think she's a pure bard. If anything, I think her style seems more offense oriented than support, so she probably has way more Sorcerer (storm) levels for flying and her other magic shit. For her Bard dip, probably a Whispers bard to play into her role as a mysterious and menacing antagonist figure.
Goldlewis: Paladin (Watchers) with a Warlock (GoO) dip. Watchers paladins already deal w abberations and aliens, and his smites could be flavoured as his big behemoth typhoons/down with the system. Warlock spells and blast reflect the gadgets stored by his alien.
Wow! Points for being so thorough! This is cool
