A Comprehensive Guide To Choosing The Right Rebate Processing Service
Tumblr media
Need a good customer return and better ROI on your growing business? Then you must put in the rebate strategy for your products and services. Rebate processing work helps you keep an eye on the expected rebates from your end, and manage the flow of work around them. Although it is an essential part of your everyday tasks, getting professional help for your rebate data entry work will prove to be more beneficial than you have thought. However, it takes a bit of understanding to choose the correct rebate processing outsourcing partner, and here is a simplified guide for you.
Read on to learn what makes a great companion for all your rebate processing services:
1. Know What You Want
Data Volume:Check your rebate data volumes and know how much you expect the package to work on. The daily inflow of rebate claims and regular completion of the same depends a lot on the proficiency of the task. It is better to check the quality and quantity of work beforehand to get your options.
Rebate Category: Clear understanding of the type of rebate you are planning to work with. It can be cash, product based, online, gift vouchers, or any limited time offers for your loyal customers. Make sure your outsourcing partner knows what they are supposed to deal with.
System Integration: Correlate the rebate processing with your current financing systems and let the data integration run smoothly for the sake of ease of access to your resources. Working with CRM, ERP, etc. makes it easier to develop quicker solutions.
2. Features To Look For
Automation Involved: The addition of automation and AI in the traditional setting of rebate processing gets the work done faster and in a better-streamlined manner with reduced errors.
Security And Confidentiality: Choose a partner whose priority is data security and confidence in the client's sensitive information that is shared for rebate processing operations only.
Regulatory Compliance: Adherence to regulatory rules and quality results is what you need to look for while choosing whom to work with for your rebates. Strictness in this is essential when it comes to financial tasks involved.
Tailored Solutions: Every business is built differently so you need to choose a custom package that answers all your issues while keeping the unnecessary tasks at bay.
Flexibility: The volume and type of rebate processing work changes with the ups and downs of the market. Your partner should be able to work with the scalability of the project and change the workforce assigned for this as per requirement.
3. Evaluate Your Options
Testimonials: Before choosing your partner, check the testimonials and case studies done on similar projects previously for different clients to know the workflow and problems faced by the outsourcing service provider. This will show you what aspects to take care of while having the rebate processing services.
Technological Advances: It is essential to keep up with the latest trends and innovations in the data processing world, to keep up with the paced outcomes of your rebate processing work. Dual monitors, secured firewalls, multichannel monitoring of data, and more such measures give you a competitive edge.
Customer Support: Constant support from the service provider and reliable answers to your queries are a must in your rebate processing outsourcing partner, for smooth pre and post-service help.
4. Costing Considerations
Pricing structures that have complete transparency and value for the money asked are signs of a high-class service provider. You should have a thorough checkup of the invoices for the project and knowledge of any hidden charges for the same. Scalable projects have different costings and you must choose the perfect plan that aligns with your needs and reduces your overall expenditure for the rebate processing work.
5. Demos And Trials
Before finalizing your decision, it is advisable to avail free demo of the work offered. You may ask for sample rebate data processing results or even try out the outsourcing services for a limited trial period before you assign your entire workload to that company. This will give you a glimpse of the workflow and whether you wish for any changes in the final product.
These discussions need to be completed early hand rather than worrying about it all later. Have distinct information on the interface used, software operated, and security offered by your potential outsourcing partner.
6. Ongoing Support
Even after you choose your best possible option for outsourcing rebate processing services, it is essential to keep an eye on post-implementation support. For your ongoing projects, you can ask for progress tracking and updates that require immediate attention. A multilinguistic approach and round-the-clock reach of customer support are the final criteria for you to choose your ultimate outsourcing partner.
Rebate processing services give you a cutting edge over your competitors to improve your ROI and customer contentment. It’s time for you to look into the matter of outsourcing your data and choose the best available option for the same. It is important to consider all the criteria involved in the decision and see if the package reduces the burden on your resources, time, and money. A complete value-added package is what you need for the best outcomes for your rebate processing services. Time for you to stand out in the cut-throat competition and prove to them you have what it takes to shine.

Rebate Processing Services: Enhancing Customer Engagement and Loyalty
In today’s competitive market, businesses are constantly looking for ways to attract customers and encourage repeat purchases. One popular strategy is offering rebates—partial refunds given after a purchase is completed. While rebates are an effective marketing tool, managing them can be complex and time-consuming. That’s where  Rebate processing services  come in, helping companies streamline the process, ensure accuracy, and improve the customer experience.
What are Rebate Processing Services?
Rebate processing services are third-party solutions or platforms that handle the entire rebate lifecycle on behalf of a business. This includes receiving rebate claims, verifying purchases, issuing payments, and managing customer communications. These services can be digital, manual, or a combination of both, depending on the company’s needs and the complexity of the rebate program.
How Rebate Processing Works
Customer Purchase: A customer buys a product or service that qualifies for a rebate offer.
Submission: The customer submits proof of purchase (e.g., receipt, UPC code) through mail, email, or an online portal.
Validation: The rebate processing provider reviews the submission to ensure it meets all criteria.
Payment: If approved, the customer receives the rebate in the form of a check, prepaid card, or electronic transfer.
Reporting and Analytics: Businesses receive reports on redemption rates, customer data, and campaign effectiveness.
Benefits of Using Rebate Processing Services
Efficiency and Accuracy Professional services use advanced systems to track and process claims quickly and accurately, reducing errors and delays.
Improved Customer Experience Fast, transparent rebate processing leads to higher customer satisfaction. Online portals and email updates keep customers informed every step of the way.
Fraud Prevention Rebate processors use verification tools to detect and prevent fraudulent claims, protecting the company’s revenue and reputation.
Cost Savings Outsourcing rebate processing reduces the need for in-house staff and infrastructure, saving time and resources.
Data Insights Businesses can gain valuable insights into customer behavior, campaign performance, and market trends through detailed analytics.
Types of Rebates Supported
Consumer Rebates: Offered to end customers to drive product sales and brand loyalty.
Trade Rebates: Targeted at distributors, retailers, or contractors to boost sales volume.
Volume-Based Rebates: Given based on the quantity purchased over a set period.
Instant Rebates: Applied at the point of sale, with no submission required.
Choosing the Right Rebate Processing Partner
When selecting a rebate processing provider, businesses should look for:
Experience and Reputation: Choose a partner with proven success in handling rebate programs.
Customizable Solutions: Flexible services that match the scale and complexity of your campaigns.
Customer Support: Responsive service to handle customer inquiries and concerns.
Technology Integration: Compatibility with your existing systems, including CRM and payment platforms.
Conclusion
Rebate processing services  are a valuable asset for companies that want to offer compelling promotions without the operational hassle. By handling the technical and administrative aspects of rebate programs, these services allow businesses to focus on strategy, customer engagement, and growth. With the right partner, rebate programs can become powerful tools for building loyalty, increasing sales, and gaining a competitive edge in the marketplace.

So Crawford won. Elon is, as far as I know, still being investigated for ~election crimes~ in Wisconsin. Canada is still investigating Tesla's alleged fraud with rebates. Illinois just elected a bunch of Democrats for local offices. Louisiana rejected a bunch of Republican proposed changes to their state constitution. Cory Booker held the floor of the Senate for 25 hours, breaking the record of racist shitheel Strom Thurmond and in the process, listing out the sins of the Trump administration in the Senate records and delaying their vote for some other Trump asshole. And Speaker of the House Mike Johnson got embarrassed by House Republicans joining Dems in opposing him and threw a baby hissy fit and shut down the House for a week.
We didn't get Florida. But look at all that up there.
Oh and tomorrow, Tesla has to share information about how many cars it actually delivered in the first three months of the year, which unless they fudge the books, is going to be a lower number than they would like, and might make their stock dip some more. Or just drop. Forbes has provided a little graph of their sales.
Edit: and oh shit! Mike Waltz fucked up again and got caught using fucking Gmail for work discussions. Gmail. Because Google never spied on anyone. (He has a government email address.)
Oh and in Hungary, the people have kept up their protests against Orban's move to ban Pride and, today at least, he basically fled the scene.

Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week #14
April 12-19 2024
The Department of Commerce announced a deal with Samsung to help bring advanced semiconductor manufacturing and research and development to Texas. The deal will bring 45 billion dollars of investment to Texas to help build a research center in Taylor Texas and expand Samsung's Austin, Texas, semiconductor facility. The Biden Administration estimates this will create 21,000 new jobs. Since 1990 America has fallen from making nearly 40% of the world's semiconductor to just over 10% in 2020.
The Department of Energy announced it granted New York State $158 million to help support people making their homes more energy efficient. This is the first payment out of a $8.8 billion dollar program with 11 other states having already applied. The program will rebate Americans for improvements on their homes to lower energy usage. Americans could get as much as $8,000 off for installing a heat pump, as well as for improvements in insulation, wiring, and electrical panel. The program is expected to help save Americans $1 billion in electoral costs, and help create 50,000 new jobs.
The Department of Education began the formal process to make President Biden's new Student Loan Debt relief plan a reality. The Department published the first set of draft rules for the program. The rules will face 30 days of public comment before a second draft can be released. The Administration hopes the process can be finished by the Fall to bring debt relief to 30 million Americans, and totally eliminate the debt of 4 million former students. The Administration has already wiped out the debt of 4.3 million borrowers so far.
The Department of Agriculture announced a $1 billion dollar collaboration with USAID to buy American grown foods combat global hunger. Most of the money will go to traditional shelf stable goods distributed by USAID, like wheat, rice, sorghum, lentils, chickpeas, dry peas, vegetable oil, cornmeal, navy beans, pinto beans and kidney beans, while $50 million will go to a pilot program to see if USAID can expand what it normally gives to new products. The food aid will help feed people in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Haiti, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Yemen.
The Department of the Interior announced it's expanding four national wildlife refuges to protect 1.13 million wildlife habitat. The refuges are in New Mexico, North Carolina, and two in Texas. The Department also signed an order protecting parts of the Placitas area. The land is considered sacred by the Pueblos peoples of the area who have long lobbied for his protection. Security Deb Haaland the first Native American to serve as Interior Secretary and a Pueblo herself signed the order in her native New Mexico.
The Department of Labor announced new work place safety regulations about the safe amount of silica dust mine workers can be exposed to. The dust is known to cause scaring in the lungs often called black lung. It's estimated that the new regulations will save over 1,000 lives a year. The United Mine Workers have long fought for these changes and applauded the Biden Administration's actions.
The Biden Administration announced its progress in closing the racial wealth gap in America. Under President Biden the level of Black Unemployment is the lowest its ever been since it started being tracked in the 1970s, and the gap between white and black unemployment is the smallest its ever been as well. Black wealth is up 60% over where it was in 2019. The share of black owned businesses doubled between 2019 and 2022. New black businesses are being created at the fastest rate in 30 years. The Administration in 2021 Interagency Task Force to combat unfair house appraisals. Black homeowners regularly have their homes undervalued compared to whites who own comparable property. Since the Taskforce started the likelihood of such a gap has dropped by 40% and even disappeared in some states. 2023 represented a record breaking $76.2 billion in federal contracts going to small business owned by members of minority communities. This was 12% of federal contracts and the President aims to make it 15% for 2025.
The EPA announced (just now as I write this) that it plans to add PFAS, known as forever chemicals, to the Superfund law. This would require manufacturers to pay to clean up two PFAS, perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid. This move to force manufacturers to cover the costs of PFAS clean up comes after last week's new rule on drinking water which will remove PFAS from the nation's drinking water.
Bonus:
President Biden met a Senior named Bob in Pennsylvania who is personally benefiting from The President's capping the price of insulin for Seniors at $35, and Biden let Bob know about a cap on prosecution drug payments for seniors that will cut Bob's drug bills by more than half.

The credit card fee victory is a defeat
Tumblr media
I'm on tour with my new, nationally bestselling novel The Bezzle! Catch me next weekend (Mar 30/31) in ANAHEIM at WONDERCON, then in Boston with Randall "XKCD" Munroe (Apr 11), then Providence (Apr 12), and beyond!
Tumblr media
The headline was pure David and Goliath: America's small businesses had finally triumphed in their 20-year litigation campaign against Visa and Mastercard over price-gouging on fees, and V/MC were going to cough up $30B as reparations:
https://edition.cnn.com/2024/03/26/economy/visa-mastercard-swipe-fee-settlement/index.html
But if you actually delve into that settlement, the victory gets very hollow indeed. Here's the figure that didn't make the headline: as a part of this settlement, the sky-high fees merchants pay to process your credit-card transaction are going up by 25%:
https://www.creditslips.org/creditslips/2024/03/the-proposed-credit-card-interchange-settlement.html
The payments system is a hellish complex, rotten cartel, dominated by a handful of firms who have raised their already-high fees by 40% since the start of covid:
https://prospect.org/power/2023-02-07-small-business-credit-card-fees/
These companies who take 2-5% out of virtually every dollar exchange in the American company are wildly profitable, but their aggregate profits are still much lower than the profits of all the merchants they prey upon. More: the combined market capitalization of every company that accepts credit-cards is orders of magnitude larger than the payment processing companies. If we're just talking about sheer economic muscle, the "Goliath" here is "all the companies" and the "David" is "the three companies that process payments for them."
So, how is it that these puny middlemen are able to run circles around this massive retail sector? To learn the answer, you need to consider the fine technical details of the lawsuit and the settlement. That's something few of us are capable of doing on our own, because – as is ever the case with finance – the whole system is wreathed in an enormous amount of performative complexity. It's what finance bros call "MEGO," for "My Eyes Glaze Over." Finance loves things that are made complicated so that they'll be hard to understand – because so many of us will assume that they are hard to understand because they are complicated and just "leave it to the experts."
Thankfully, not all of the experts are on the side of finance. When I want a cheat-sheet for the lies buried in Uber's balance sheet, I look to Hubert Horan:
https://horanaviation.com/publications-uber
And when I want to understand credit markets, I go to Adam Levitin and his co-authors at the indispensable Credit Slips blog – and the Credit Card Interchange Settlement is no exception:
https://www.creditslips.org/creditslips/2024/03/the-proposed-credit-card-interchange-settlement.html
Formally, the fight over credit-card fees is over "interchange fees" – the fees charged to a merchant's bank by Visa and Mastercard. But of course, these fees are passed on to the merchants. If you've ever shopped for a credit-card, you'll know that some cards offer massive rebates to consumers (especially wealthy consumers with great credit scores). These gifts don't come out of V/MC's bottom-line: every time you use one of those Platinum/Emerald/Unobtanium cards, V/MC levy an even higher interchange fee. So ultimately, when a wealthy customer with a "good" credit card shops at a merchant, the merchant ends up paying more to process their payment.
But merchants aren't allowed to charge that back to their customers – and that's the crux of the lawsuit. It's why American merchants pay the highest interchange fees in the developed world.
Enter the $30b settlement. Under its terms, average interchange fees will go down by 7 basis-points (0.07%) over the next five years, while all fees will go down by 0.04% over three years – a reduction of about $3b/year. Additionally: merchants will now be able to levy small, extremely limited surcharges based on either the type of card or the card brand (e.g., "We charge a fee for Visa" or "We charge a fee for gold cards"). If merchants are able to levy these fees and figure out how to max them out, they stand to make another 3b/year.
In other words, the $30b settlement comes from $15b in guaranteed savings and $15b in possible savings, for just five years – while V/MC will continue to charge more than $100b/year in interchange fees.
This litigation began in 2005, with merchants outraged over the sky-high average interchange fee of 1.75%. Today, after the settlement, those fees have climbed by 25%, to 2.19% – and they'll start climbing again after just five years. A 20-year fight over high fees resulted in a victory in which the fees are even higher.
How did this happen? Levitin gives us some tantalyzing hints. Over the two decades of litigation, the credit card cartel were able to peel off different groups of merchants and settle with them separately. Some of those settlements were vacated by courts, and other ones are still pending, but fundamentally, the merchants were not unified in the way the credit-card companies are.
This shouldn't surprise anyone. Hundreds of thousands – millions? – of merchants are unable to coordinate strategies in the way that just two credit-card companies can. Indeed, when you have hundreds of thousands of companies, that represents many, many different kinds of businesses, each of which has different kinds of customers and different labor, inventory, cash-flow and profitability specifics.
But as an industry grows more concentrated, all the firms within that industry converge on a single, homogeneous style of operations. Walmart operates very differently from the mom-and-pop shops it forced out with predatory pricing and sweetheart deals with wholesalers – but Costco, Walmart and Sam's Club are all remarkably similar to one another. As a shopper, that means that if have needs that aren't well-served by a big box store, you're out of luck – and it means that a credit-card settlement that works for Walmart will probably work equally well for Costco and Sam's Club.
Think of the mobile phone duopoly of Apple/Google. These two "competitors" have nearly identical ways of dealing with their suppliers – both charging 30% fees for processing payments (and yes, that's a racket that makes Visa/Mastercard look like pikers). These two "competitors" are also one another's most important business-partners: the single largest transaction either company makes every year is with the other – the $26B that Google pays Apple every year to be the Ios and Safari default search engine, through which Apple exposes every one of its customers to Google's incredibly invasive, continuous surveillance.
Speaking of surveillance: consider the surveillance advertising duopoly of Google/Facebook. Not only do these companies extract the nearly identical (sky-high) fees from advertisers and dribble out the nearly identical (miserly) payouts to publishers – they also illegally collude to rig the advertising market, dividing it between themselves:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedi_Blue
The economists' term for this is the "collective action problem." It's a problem we want corporations to have. The problem with monopolies and cartels isn't merely that they're "too big to fail" and "too big to jail" – it's that a handful of companies can form a cartel to capture their regulators:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/06/05/regulatory-capture/
The surveillance industry is unified; the surveilled are not. The rewards from surveillance are concentrated. The costs of surveillance are diffused. This is as good a working definition of corruption as you could ask for: conduct that produces concentrated gains and diffuse losses.
Our generations-long failure to enforce antitrust law created monopolies that rippled out through whole supply chains. As David Dayen described in his brilliant 2021 book Monopolized, it's the story of US health industry:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/01/29/fractal-bullshit/#dayenu
First, pharma companies merged to monopoly and started to gouge hospitals on drug prices. So hospitals formed regional monopolies that could resist these pricing demands – and then turned around and started gouging insurance companies. So insurance companies merged, too. Every corner of health-care is now a monopoly or a cartel – from pharmacy benefit managers to hospital beds:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/01/05/hillrom/#baxter-international
The only parts of the industry that aren't concentrated are the parts that can't concentrate: patients and health-care workers. The monopolized health care sector reaps the concentrated gains, and the patients and workers pay the diffused costs. Those costs are diffused, but they're still substantial – a literal matter of life or death:
https://kffhealthnews.org/news/article/investors-private-equity-nonprofit-nursing-homes-quality-of-care/
Monopolization lets businesses solve their collective action problem, so they can run circles around less concentrated, less organized sectors. But concentration also lets companies solve the collective action problem of lobbying governments and capturing their regulators. A concentrated industry can maintain message discipline in front of regulators and legislators. A diffuse sector will always have credible defectors who'll say, "No, we can absolutely function with tighter controls – my competition is bullshitting you and I have receipts to prove it."
The surveillance industry's massive concentration is why America can't seem to pass a federal consumer privacy law. The last consumer privacy law Congress passed was 1988's Video Privacy Protection Act, a law that bans video-store clerks from telling anyone which VHS cassettes you're renting. But federal law is effectively silent on every other kind of invasion – your ISP, your TV, your car, your phone, your medical implant, your dishwasher and your smart speaker can all harvest your data, charge you for the privilege and sell it to anyone, for any purpose.
That silence didn't come cheap: whenever Congress moots a privacy law, the concentrated surveillance industry is all on the same page for the ensuing lobbying blitz, which it can afford thanks to the massive profits that an industry reaps when it eliminates "wasteful competition."
This is a point that leftists sometimes miss about competition law. The point of competition isn't merely to discipline companies into finding more efficient ways to run their businesses so that their prices go down. Sure, that's sometimes a good thing for the public.
But there's plenty of commercial conduct that we don't want to improve – rather, we want to extinguish that conduct. We don't want more efficient commercial surveillance – we want no commercial surveillance.
Without competition, an industry can outmaneuver the government. Think of IBM: the DOJ sued IBM for antitrust violations from 1970 to 1982. For 12 consecutive years, IBM spent more on lawyers to fight the DOJ's Antitrust Division than the DOJ spent on all the lawyers it employed to fight every antitrust violation in the country. IBM literally outspent the US government, year after year, for 12 years! That let them delay the DOJ's breakup long enough for Ronald Reagan to be elected, and then Reagan dropped the suit.
This doesn't just effect customers for a monopoly's products – it also (and especially) effects the workers for that monopoly. When employers don't have to compete for labor, they can pay workers less and save money they might otherwise have to pay for benefits and workplace safety. Those additional profits can be plowed into lobbying against pro-union laws, and to pay the eye-watering sums charged by scumbag union-busting law firms.
Look at the companies who've gone to the Supreme Court to get the National Labor Review Board abolished: these are giant corporations from heavily concentrated sectors with little competition to erode their profits. And while Tesla, Trader Joe's and Amazon all have very different businesses, they're all similar enough that none of them sees an advantage to courting workers by offering a unionized shop:
https://newrepublic.com/article/179165/musk-supreme-court-nlrb-labor
It's not just leftists who fail to grasp the relationship between competition and the ability of regulators to do their job. Libertarians miss this, too. Even if you're a fully Fountainhead-poisoned freedom-to-contract hobgoblin, you still want a government that can enforce those contracts and defend the property rights they invoke. For a government to force a corporation to abide by its contractual obligations, that government has to be more powerful than the corporation it is charged with policing. Which means that however large you're willing to let a monopoly or cartel grow, you're going to have to tolerate a government that's even larger:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/02/05/small-government/
The "$30b win" for America's merchants is, in fact, a loss. 20 years of litigation over high fees, and the fees are now much higher. But that loss is surely unevenly distributed. Walmart and Amazon and other retail giants are going to be able to bargain for all kinds of off-the-books rebates, promotions, and other sweetheart deals, meaning that they'll have even more unfair advantages over smaller, more disorganized retailers. That means more of those mom-and-pops will vanish, leaving shoppers with less choice and higher prices – and workers with less choice and lower wages.
The lesson of 40 years of pro-monopoly policy couldn't be clearer: you can either have an economy that is regulated by lawmakers who are at least nominally transparent and democratically accountable, or you can have an economy regulated by totally unaccountable and opaque monopolists. Fail to do the former, and you will always end up with the latter.

Nishidake: Chapter 6, Part 2
Guess who's coming to dinner?
Tumblr media
The doorbell was Luna!
Charlie: Luna! Hey, what are you doing here?
Luna: We agreed that we would move flat fam catch ups to your Monday so your work shift  didn’t get in the way
Charlie: We did?
Luna: Sorry, I keep forgetting you’re not a phone person. Kaori responded that it was fine
Charlie: Well come in, I guess I better find something to cook
Luna: Where’s Kaori?
Charlie: Did she not put in the… what do you call it
Luna: Group chat
Charlie: Right, that, she’s at work. She’s an astronaut now
Tumblr media
Luna and Charlie head inside and Charlie shows Luna their new set up. Sensing it may be a while until food is ready Clover goes and has a nap on the dog bed. Rahul and Cassandra get here only slightly late. Lavina is still refusing to babysit Mercedes, Savannah and Viola at the same time since the three don’t get along so they had to drop Viola with Uncle Alexander. Devin of course was here fashionably early and is super happy about… something. I’m going to guess she’s super happy about her look because I still am.
Tumblr media
Charlie: But why get your nails painted if they’re just going to be skin colour?
Luna: It’s about the experience Charlie, some of us prefer pampering to peddling
Charlie: I actually can’t ride a bike
Devin: *sing song voice* I’m here! Please, please, hold your applause
Clover: *barks* Shinny
Devin: Thank you Clover, you’re too kind. Hey Char, love what the watcher has done with the place
Charlie: It was rebate day so I guess Kaori ordered some stuff
Luna: Don’t mind her, she’s on a “let’s all believe in the watcher” crusade
Devin: I just think it’ll be easier for the bambinos if we’re on the same page
Tumblr media
Charlie: Wait, did I add that spice already?
Devin: Please tell me this is going to be good, all they had on set today was chocolate cake so I starved
Luna: Schatz! Why didn’t you eat the cake
Devin: *sighs dramatically* If you eat the cake then you get frosting on your face and have to go back to make up and Rudolphus gets mad and gives you a lecture and then you have to recentre to get back into confident “I can totally kick bugs butt” mode. The whole thing is exhausting, far easier to get your sugar from leftover toddler dessert
Luna: I knew it wasn’t Joey who raided the cupboard
Devin: I was just trying some method acting for my pirate role in case this one gets good reviews. Clover gets it, sometime you just have to steal some good food right?
Clover: *barks* Right!
Tumblr media
Kaori: How is the pregnancy going
Cassandra: It’s going slowly. I am getting more nauseous than normal though
Kaori: Do you think that could mean a boy? Or maybe triplets?
Rahul: *sighs* Triplets would be great
Cassandra: And how would I feed three babies with two breasts
Rahul: You always get engorged easy, you’d have plenty of milk
Kaori: Engorgement sounds painful
Cassandra: It is for a bit but so long as I don’t stop pumping cold turkey I seem to survive the pain
Tumblr media
Devin: So this is… what
Luna: Tajine. Coming from North Africa the word itself comes from Arabic and further back Ancient Greece. Although some scholars believe the word itself is of Persian origin. It’s normally cooked in special pottery with a hat type piece that keeps the moisture in
Devin: *blinks* So this is… what? Cheat tajine?
Charlie: I resent that accusation
Devin: But Char you’ve got no hat piece
Charlie: Our matching hats are enough, trust the process. It’s a simple dish, I promise, it’ll be excellent. Totally befitting your hoity toity taste buds
Devin: *fake coughs* Refined *fake cough*
Tumblr media
Charlie: That was the worst acting I have ever seen
Devin: Grazie
Charlie: Done! Now out of my kitchen
Charlie shepherds Devin and Luna to the table where everyone grabs a plate of food and sits down to catch up. They all saw each other recently at the Villareals but there are some topics you can talk about with children around, and others that you can’t talk about.
Rahul: I mean we already have some name ideas from the last pregnancies but we’re waiting for the ultrasound to tell us how many to expect
Devin: Luna and I have news actually. We’re going to look into getting a science baby
Charlie: Yeah? I think my sister is thinking of that to, but she’s not sure how safe it is yet
Devin: Well we can’t exactly use a plain old surrogate, the papers would lampoon me. And news would be bound to get out about Luna’s postpartum being the reason she wasn’t carrying
Tumblr media
Cassandra: It wouldn’t get out from us
Devin: Emisia would probably leak it
Luna: You say that but you know if it got out she and Max would likely commit murder
Charlie: I forgot evil runs in both your families, you two are such a match. So Devin, how’d I do
Devin: With the cheat tajine?
Kaori: Cheat tajine?
Rahul: How do you cheat tajine?
Devin: You deny it its hat. But Char I will concede, this does taste excellent
When the meal is finished Kaori clears the plates.
Tumblr media
Cassandra: I hope you don’t mind that I didn’t finish
Charlie: Don’t worry about it, I made far too much
Kaori: You’re pregnant so you’re allowed to be weird about food
The group laughs and begins to get up and sort out heading to their own homes. Cassandra is a bit wobbly though so Rahul makes sure to check on her.
Rahul: Are you okay my darling?
Cassandra: I think it was a bit spicy for me at the moment
Rahul: If you want on the way back to Henford we could swing by the donut place with Viola
Cassandra: If we go without them the twins will sulk for days
Rahul: I’m willing to suffer their pouting to keep you well, remember, you’re meant to be eating for at least two
Tumblr media
Rahul goes to take another look at the indoor garden and Luna checks in with Cassandra.
Luna: Will you find out the sex of this one
Cassandra: We don’t usually, we like the surprise. Whoever is in here should find no pushback from Viola for sharing a room either
Luna: I mean… were your girls really that bothered by a third kid?
Cassandra: Yes. They hated the idea of her and disliked her when she arrived. Truth be told I'm still not sure if they like her. But that doesn’t mean your twins will be mad! Please don’t change your mind on my account, I couldn’t stand the scolding from Devin
Luna: *laughs* Don’t worry, I think Alfred and Rilian would like a baby sibling, they seem more independent than your girls were
Cassandra: I think I still have bruises on my leg from Mercedes holding on so tight
The women laugh and Charlie and Kaori see everyone out. All in all, a good catch up.

ok so i'm still having a groundhog day glitch in my game atm where it'll show i was in the process of working on this family
Tumblr media
but when the game loads they're not there and it takes me back to my last active household like nothing happened. on top of that, when i played yesterday i had my sims at the flea market, but now it takes me to a few hours after the romance festival ended. this was happening in my save when i had a day before harvest fest to complete, it kept telling me it was rebate day and it even saved the things i purchased, lots i placed down, just not the skills earned. then i rolled back to a previous save, it worked for three in-game days, and the issue arose again.
i'm unsure if anyone else is having this glitch because the last time this occurred was when high school years came out so everything i find is in connection to that. and it's just so strange i was able to save progression numerous times until a random point.
i can still remote some script mods, repair the game, clear the thumbanilcache and see if that works but for now i'm like 🤔

I logged into the ServiceOntario site, to check on the status of my $200 election bribe tax rebate from the Premier. (They're being mailed out as cheques, which is fucking stupid.) Anyway. It said that the request could not be processed and to call the rebate line. So I called and was on hold for 50 minutes (got to hear their jaunty Monsters Inc. clarinet hold tune 25x! Whose eye is twitching? It is mine or yours??), and then got a person. Laura was most helpful.
I was taken off the registry to receive the money. Not entirely sure why, and now there's an investigation. The only thing I can figure on that is that between me changing my address from doing taxes and moving here, I got X as a gender marker on my Ontario ID. Since I know our Premier is just as shitty and hateful to queer people as his hero to the south, it would not surprise me in the slightest to learn it was that X that caused them to remove me from being eligible to be bribed rewarded for living in Ontario.
Who knows?
I'll apparently be getting an email from them sometime soon to figure it out. Laura hung up on me mid-sentence too, so that was also shitty. (I was saying "Thank you for your help today." Apparently nobody has time for courtesy now. Or, with 15 million people receiving it, there's a lotta fuckery involved. She's probably real busy.)

Top Ways to Make Money in 2025 Make $500 or More This Week
Does the title look somewhat familiar? I’m sure you’ve come across ads or websites with this topic and it’s a LIE. Maybe you’ve noticed they haven’t actually utilized the suggestions they are promoting and earning $500 from their suggestions is often a lie. Once I see the bingo or casino style game apps it’s pretty clear. I read the reviews in the app store where there’s hidden costs or worse they are an outright scam! Avoiding scams, knowing if you have to shell out money, or when and how you can get the returns promised are crucial considerations. Which are important when struggling and in dire need, yet this is something that tends to be entirely overlooked by the typical “Need Money Fast?” style posts. Lets change that! Not only have I used and tested these apps, I will give you the details on what to expect and strategies to leverage multiple apps together to gain the best earnings!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Realistically you could to earn between $100 to $300 within your first week. The catch: you need to use the links I provide and get the bonuses! Yes they are affiliate links where we both benefit!
This article is in 5 parts:
Shopping Apps Make or get money back on your purchases! Survey Apps Earn money for your opinions, insights, and more. Investment Apps Earn while you learn about investing! Other Options Here’s some other ways to generate income. Strategies Some ways to get the best gains and earn more!
Shopping Apps
Social Nature
Social Nature lets you try natural, eco-friendly products for free in exchange for reviews. From organic snacks to eco-friendly cleaning supplies or makeup, you can explore healthier alternatives by signing up, receiving free or rebates products, and sharing your feedback.
How it works:
There isn't a smartphone app for this yet; you access the webpage through your browser and receive updates through text message and email. There are a few ways this works:
You receive a voucher coupon for the product.
You purchase the product and upload a receipt for a full or partial refund.
How does it payout?
If you are getting a voucher, it can take about a week or sometimes longer to receive it in the mail.
For the cash-back option, after uploading the receipt, you will usually receive an email from [email protected] within 72 hours. Follow the prompts for the payout.
Social Nature Common Complaints & Fixes
Long Wait for Approval
Fix: Complete your profile and apply for various products to increase your chances. Being consistent with reviews will improve product selection. Not Receiving Product or vouchers
Fix: Double-check your shipping info and contact support if needed.
Receipt Issues
Fix: If the WiFi or data connection is slow there will be errors or issues with uploading. Connect to a working WiFi or move to an area with better signal. Refresh the website and upload again.
Fix: If the receipt is not clear, get another one from the store. If the receipt is clear but not processing, reach out to support. Didn't receive the cash-back email from Tremendous? Go to My Products from the Menu, Click on the product and contact support.
No Products To Try
Fix: Sometimes there are not products available to try, come back in a week or two for updates.
Currently the affiliate link doesn’t provide a bonus at this time when you sign up and share you link you are entered into a raffle. Join Social Nature Here: https://www.socialnature.com/friend-referral/?referrer=friend-146442-74ea825c-link
Fetch Rewards
Fetch Rewards lets users earn points by scanning receipts from everyday purchases at grocery stores, restaurants, and more. You can redeem these points for things such as gift cards to popular retailers like Apple, Barnes & Noble, Lowes, Sephora, Ulta, The Vitamin Shop and many more!
How it works:
With Fetch, you can:
Photograph and upload physical receipts
Scan your email for applicable e-receipts from select retailers
Use the app to purchase from online retailers and earn points
Play games/try out other apps to earn points
Points can be redeemed as gift cards, join a raffles to win prizes, or donate to a cause of your choice within the Fetch app
How does it payout?
Starting around 100 points you can join the raffles.
With 3,000 points, you can donate.
At 5,000 points, you can redeem gift cards.
To redeem points click on your point balance in the upper right corner of the screen, then click on the amount of points you have or want to redeem, and follow the prompts.
Fetch Common Complaints & Fixes
Not Receiving The Right Amount of Points for Receipts *This can be prevented by taking multiple pics of your receipt before swiping up to submit it.
Fix: Check the details of the offer to see if the store you got the product from and/or the product qualifies. If it does, there are two ways to fix this Go to your profile, click on points activity, select the receipt, in the upper right corner there is the pencil edit icon, you can add the item manually.
Fix: Go to your profile, click on points activity, select the receipt, in the upper right corner there is the pencil edit icon, you can add an item if the initial scan didn't pick it up, or you can click on the mislabeled item and scan the barcode or select find product. Then submit it for review.
Fix: Go to the home page and look for the item offer. Select the item then scroll down to where it says "Missing points from this offer?" And click on "Correct receipt." Select the receipt with the item and click correct receipt or contact support. Then follow the prompts.
Play Points for playing games through Fetch are Missing or Incorrect
Fix: Refresh the app, contact support. The catch...you can be rewarded the missing points, but...read the email support message and note this is a problem and using the play aspect can be risky.
App Freezing or Crashing
Fix: Close and reopen the app, update it, or clear the cache. If needed, reinstall the app.
Slow Point Redemption
Fix: Ensure your email is verified and check your spam folder for gift cards.
It takes a long time (1 month+) to build up points to redeem a decent amount!
Fix: Keep up on the higher point incentives and featured incentives as they change frequently! Games will net you better points too but you do need to enable app tracking. Invite friends to the app especially when the bonus is high.
Despite some hiccups, Fetch offers an easy way to earn rewards from everyday purchases, and most issues can be quickly resolved.
Using this link https://referral.fetch.com/vvv3/referraltext?code=7P2KJN or Code: 7P2KJN to get started with 2000 points!

Make a purchase at a participating location.
Complete the offer in the app by selecting the card used or uploading a receipt
Earn cash back that is typically credited to your account within 10 days.
How does it payout?
Payouts have minimum requirements, I have only utilized the Paypal payout option, it can take up to 24 hours to receive the payout and you can add multiple Paypal Accounts to payout to!
Gift card withdrawals: $10 minimum
PayPal: $1.01 minimum but they take a percentage if you don’t have a withdraw amount of $15 or more
Upside Common Complaints & Fixes
Offers Not Always Available or Change Frequently
Fix: Check the app frequently for updated offers, especially during promotions.
Slow Cashback Processing
Fix: Ensure your payment card is linked correctly and that the purchase was processed successfully.
Fix: Wait 10 days as they confirm with the payment processor of the business that the transaction went through.
Didn’t get cash back
Fix: Read the fine print on the offer as some gas stations may have a limit to redemptions. Example one gas station in my area limited the offer to cash back on 50 gallons of gas.
Fix: Contact Support, click the 3 lines i the upper right corner you will see your profile, other options, and “help.” Click on help and then click in the upper right corner to use the chat and submit a request. Check your email for a response if no one is immediatly available.

SURVEY Apps
AttaPoll
AttaPoll is an easy-to-navigate app that pays users to complete short surveys. It’s simple straightforward and user-friendly.
How it works:
Take and complete surveys, or “AttaPoll Tasks” to earn a bit of cash. AttaPoll Tasks are typically downloading and trying out apps. Most are games, but sometimes to complete the task it requires a purchase.
How does it payout?
Once you earn $2.50, you can withdraw, with the exception of PayPal, you will need a balance of $3. I've only utilized PayPal to do withdraws with no issue. You can earn $5 within a few hours. Withdraws are limited to 1 every 24 hours.
AttaPoll Common Complaints & Fixes
Low Survey Availability
Fix: Complete your profile, enable notifications, and check the app at different times of the day.
Frequent Disqualifications
Fix: Answer screening questions honestly and ensure your profile is up to date. Pay attention to questions as they screen for bots, give thoughtful and detailed responses in text boxes. Regardless disqualifications do happen a lot, simply move on to the next survey.
Not Receiving A Payout Or Disqualified On Completing A Quiz
Fix: Contact Support by clicking on your profile select “Help” then select “Surveys” or “Other” and follow the prompts.
Payment Delays
Fix: Give it 30 minutes for the payout to complete. Make sure you have WiFi or a good data signal to complete your payout. Check that your account is linked correctly, and that it meets the payout threshold ($3 for PayPal). If all else fails, contact support.
AttaPoll can be a convenient way to earn a little extra, especially with the know how to navigate common issues. The advantage with AttaPoll is that surveys are plentiful.  Get a $0.50 boost to start https://attapoll.app/join/rqfvc or Use Code: rqfvc
Eureka
Eureka is one of the best survey apps! It has a great design, easy to navigate layout and most of all if you start a survey and get disqualified they still give you $.02 for your time.
How it works:
Eureka Survey offers users the chance to earn cash by completing surveys or by downloading and trying out apps. Sometimes to complete the app trial it requires a deposit or purchase. With a fun easy-to-use interface and frequent surveys, it's a popular app for making extra money. However, like any rewards app, there are common complaints. Here's a breakdown and how to fix them.
How does it payout?
Earn $5 to be eligible for the payout, and you are limited to one payout every 24 hours!
Once your payment is processed, take the feedback survey to immediately earn $1.25
Eureka Common Complaints & Fixes
Closed Surveys
Fix: This happens a bit and you dont get the $.02 reward! The way to navigate this is to do surveys Monday to Friday!
Survey Disqualifications
Fix: This happens quite a bit, lessen the chances of this happening when you fully complete your profile, answer screening questions honestly, and frequent the app to have more recent surveys show up.
Low Survey Availability
Fix: Ensure your profile is detailed, turn on notifications, and check the app at different times. Close or refresh the app frequently. Eureka will only show a limited amount of surveys as you complete surveys, more will appear. However, during the weekdays is the best time to have ample survey availability.
Payouts Problems
Fix: Ensure your app is up to date, check that PayPal is verified, make sure your internet connection is working well as low or no signal areas will cause problems. Contact support if delays persist longer than 30 minutes!
Survey Issues
Fix: Restart the app, check for updates, and clear the app's cache.
Eureka can be a simple and fun way to earn cash Use my code UPT7QB or the link below for Eureka Surveys and unlock an entry $1 survey just for signing up!  https://eurekasurveys.page.link/Z9g6ahbWsd2nXcn27
INVESTMENT APPS
Coinbase
Coinbase is a leading platform for buying, selling, investing and earning cryptocurrency.
How it works:
For this, you will be using Coinbase's learn-to-earn based Rewards program, where you can earn free crypto simply by completing educational quizzes or tasks. Cryptocurrency can be a profitable investment! By earning while you learn the basics, you can gain valuable insights into the realm of investments in digital finance. Coinbase has some international limitations see those here I'm going to be honest, Coinbase can be very complicated, especially if you are brand new to cryptocurrencies! Take your time and have patience as you go through some of the tasks! Also several of the tasks may require money to complete! Also do not withdraw the currency earned until all steps of the task are complete, as that may go towards completing the task! For example, with a task you may be rewarded learning about a cryptocurrency, then rewarded for downloading and installing a wallet connected to that currency. Another reward for transfering the currency earned to the wallet and then earning more with using some to do an activity through the wallet to then complete the task. Feel free to reach out via the comments below this post or to me directly for support.
How does it payout?
Coinbase often gives you the option to receive your sale proceeds as USD (deposited to your cash balance) or as USDC (a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar). Here's the clarified "Payouts" section:
Payouts (Getting Cash from Selling Crypto):
When you sell your cryptocurrency on Coinbase, you'll want to get that money into your bank account. Here's how it works:
Sell your crypto: You tell Coinbase you want to sell your Bitcoin, Ethereum, or other crypto.
Choose USD: Coinbase might give you a choice between USD (US dollars) and USDC (a digital dollar). To get real money in your bank, you MUST choose USD. This puts the money into your Coinbase USD balance.
Withdraw to your bank: Once the sale is complete and the USD is in your Coinbase USD balance, you then tell Coinbase to send that money to your linked bank account. This is called a "withdrawal."
Wait for the money: It usually takes 1-3 business days for the money to show up in your bank account.
Important Note about USDC: USDC is a type of cryptocurrency that's designed to be worth the same as a US dollar. It's useful for trading and other things within the crypto world, but if your goal is to get cash in your bank account, you need to choose USD when selling your crypto, and then withdraw the USD to your bank.
Common Complaints & Fixes
Rewards Not Showing After Quizzes or tasks
Fix: Ensure you completed the quiz, log out and back in, or contact support if the issue persists. I have experienced delays between 5 to 10 minutes on rewards.
Account Restrictions on Rewards
Fix: Verify your identity, ensure your country is eligible, and reach out to support for further help.
Fix: Coinbase has some international limitations see those here
Fix: Sometimes your ability to earn rewards just disappears or they change the menu configurations frequently. Take a break from the app and usually the issue will be resolved later.
Sign up for Coinbase and make a deposit in your account using my link and we can each get $20 in BTC. https://coinbase.com/join/RH5F3K3 Use Code: RH5F3K3 *If you have a hard time navigating tech, this may not be for you.

Standard Payout – Free, but funds may take 3-5 business days to be deposited into your bank account. For me the money that is attributed to the standard payout happens weekly with the money going out of Wag Earnings on Thursday.
Your Earnings will display what is available with the weekly payout and the instant payout. If you opt for the instant payout it will include the weekly payout and 0 out your earnings.
Common Complaints & How to Resolve Them:

Fix: Head to an area with higher demand to do on demand walks.
App Glitches & GPS Issues:
Fix: If the app isn’t tracking your walk properly, ensure your location settings are turned on and update the app regularly to avoid bugs.
Fix: Low signal areas may be challenging, get to spots with signal, use WIFI when available, contact support after the gig is complete.
Lots of fees

Fix: Avoid using the Instant Pay feature
Fix: Avoid paying for boosting your account but I could work starting out to get more work or higher paying walks.
It’s a learning curve and the upfront fee may be a barrier to begin. Yet once you get established and set-up recurring walks it can be a decent side gig. Want to try this out? Apply and earn a $25 bonus when accepted! (Terms apply.) https://wagwalking.com/dog-walker?code=BRETTNEY29322 Use code: BRETTNEY29322

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
August 14, 2024
Heather Cox Richardson
Aug 15, 2024
The July report for consumer prices from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which came out today, showed that prices rose less than 3% in the previous twelve months. Core inflation has fallen to its lowest rate since April 2021. For well over a year, wages have grown faster than inflation.
President Joe Biden cheered the news but added in a statement, “Prices are still too high. Large corporations are sitting on record profits and not doing enough to lower prices. That’s why we are taking on Big Pharma to lower prescription drug prices. We’re cutting red tape to build more homes while taking on corporate landlords that unfairly increase rent. And we’re taking on price gouging and junk fees to lower everyday costs from groceries to air travel.”
When a reporter asked Biden if the U.S. has beaten inflation, Biden answered: “Yes, Yes, Yes. I told you we were going to have a soft landing…. My policies are working. Start writing that way.”
Just yesterday, the administration announced $100 million worth of investments in new housing in the form of grants to state and local governments to spur the production of new housing. Kriston Capps of Bloomberg reports that “more housing units are under construction now than at any point in half a century—some 60,000 multifamily units were completed in June alone—and rents are stabilizing in some areas as a result.”
Single-family home construction is slower, and with Senate Republicans having blocked a $78 billion tax deal that would support housing tax credits that promote the construction of housing, the White House is finding other ways to spur housing construction.
On Monday the White House continued its attempt to protect the interests of consumers after years in which they lost ground. Continuing to combat junk fees, it proposed rules to fight back against “all the ways that corporations—through excessive paperwork, hold times, and general aggravation—add unnecessary headaches and hassles to people’s days and degrade their quality of life.”
Companies deliberately design processes to be burdensome in order to deter people from getting a refund or a rebate, or canceling a membership or a subscription. Those frustrations waste money and time, the administration said, and after listing some of its own proposals for making it easier to navigate ending subscriptions or activating insurance coverage, it invited Americans to submit their own on a public portal.
In a speech on Friday in North Carolina, Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to take on the issue of price gouging by large corporations. Researchers for U.K. think tanks Institute for Public Policy Research and Common Wealth found in late 2023 that profiteering, or “greedflation,” “significantly” boosted prices, leading to increases of 30% or more in corporate profits. “Excessive profits were even larger in the US, where many important sections of the economy are dominated by a few powerful companies,” wrote Phillip Inman of The Guardian.
Responding to today’s news that inflation is coming down, the stock market ticked up in expectation that the Fed will now be more likely to cut interest rates in September.
The White House took notice today of the fact that applications for small businesses continue to boom across the country, with 19 million new business applications since Vice President Harris and President Biden took office, an annual growth rate 90% higher than prepandemic averages. The White House also noted that congressional Republicans are trying to cut the Small Business Administration and to cut taxes for big corporations.
Politico greeted today’s economic news with a headline saying, “Inflation is easing. Now, Harris has an even bigger problem with the economy.” And the New York Times reported that in a speech in North Carolina, “Harris Is Set to Lay Out an Economic Message Light on Details,” adding that she is expected to tweak Biden administration themes “in a bid to turn the Democratic economic agenda into an asset.”
The United States economy under Biden and Harris has been the strongest in the world, and now that inflation seems to be under control as well, Harris needs to turn that record “into an asset”? Political journalist James Fallows wrote: “Now they are all just trolling us.”
The Biden-Harris administration has changed the orientation of the United States government from relying on markets to order society and protecting the interests of wealthy Americans in the expectation that they would invest in the economy more efficiently than they could if the government interfered by protecting workers and consumers. Biden and Harris, along with the cabinet officers and staff of the executive branch, revived an older ideology calling for the government to promote the interests of the American people as a whole. This means regulating business and providing government services and oversight to make sure no interest can run the table.
What the two different worldviews look like was on display earlier this month, when Republicans and a few Democrats in the Senate killed a bipartisan expansion of the child tax credit, a tax break for parents with dependent children. A hike in that credit during the pandemic cut child poverty dramatically, only for that rate to bounce back when the pandemic relief expired and dropped five million U.S. children back into poverty in 2022. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities noted that the change “underscores the fact that the number of children living in poverty is a policy choice.”
On January 31, 2024, the House passed an expansion of the child tax credit that was smaller than the one in place during the pandemic, and Republican vice presidential hopeful Ohio senator J.D. Vance, who has been criticized for comments about “childless cat ladies,” seemed to support the measure when he said, “If you’re raising children in this country, we should make it easier, not harder. And unfortunately it’s way too expensive and way too difficult.” He then falsely accused Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris of calling for ending the child tax credit (she has actually called for expanding it).
But Vance missed the vote, and before it, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) told colleagues that passing the bill would “give Harris a win before the election.” According to Chabeli Carranzana of The 19th, Tillis “printed out fake checks made out to ‘millions of American voters’ with the memo: ‘Don’t forget to vote for Kamala!’”
The two different worldviews were also on display Monday night when Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump complimented X owner Elon Musk for firing workers who threatened to strike. The right to strike is protected under federal labor law, and the Biden-Harris administration has stood firmly for workers’ rights.
On Tuesday the United Auto Workers union filed charges against Trump and Musk with the National Labor Relations Board for threatening and intimidating workers. “When we say Trump stands against everything our union stands for, this is what we mean,” said UAW president Shawn Fain.
Tonight, Trump gave a speech in Asheville, North Carolina, that was supposed to be about the economy. Before he could appear, Trump had to pay the city $82,247.60 in advance, with city officials apparently concerned about the candidate’s habit of skipping out on costs associated with his rallies. Once on stage, he tossed economic issues overboard and concentrated on personal attacks on Biden and Harris, along with stream-of-consciousness musings on tampons and socialism. Apparently speaking of his campaign aides, he said: They wanted to do a speech on the economy. They say it’s the most important subject. I’m not sure it is.”
The era of unfettered markets and the concentration of wealth may be coming to an end. In late July, the finance leaders of the Group of 20 (G20), a forum of the world’s major economies, agreed to cooperate on fair taxation of  "ultra-high-net-worth individuals,” although they did not agree as to whichinternational body should lead.
But yesterday, Joe Perticone of The Bulwark noted that MAGA Republicans appear to have figured out a way to use the struggle over the nation’s economic ideology to elect Trump.
The House recessed in late July having failed to pass a single one of the 12 appropriations bills the government needs to stay in operation because, although the appropriations bills are traditionally kept “clean” of anything extraneous, extremist members of the House Freedom Caucus insist on making extreme cuts and adding their culture war items to the bills. Congress doesn’t reconvene until early September, and the new fiscal year starts on October 1, leaving the House very little time to pass the necessary bills.
Yesterday, members of the House Freedom Caucus called for Republicans to return to Washington, D.C., to pass the bills “to cut spending and advance our policy priorities.” If they can’t pass the bills—and they failed all spring—the extremists want a short-term fix just into “President Trump’s second term.” But they also want the fix to include the SAVE Act, “as called for by President Trump—to prevent noncitizens from voting [and] to preserve free and fair elections in light of the millions of illegal aliens imported by the Biden-Harris administration over the last four years.”
It is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections. As Perticone notes, Trump’s own 2017 commission to find evidence that undocumented immigrants voted in 2016 disbanded without finding any, and another audit, led by Georgia Republicans before the 2022 midterms, found not a single successful attempt of noncitizens to vote in the previous five years.
Perticone reports that the measure is designed to suppress legitimate Democratic voting and, if Trump still loses, by claiming that Trump lost, again, because the election was stolen by illegal voters.
Trump continues to insist that Biden’s replacement at the top of the Democratic ticket was a “coup,” partly because he wants to face off against Biden, rather than Harris. But he also is priming his supporters to believe that those Americans who want the government to work for them rather than the very wealthy are illegitimate.

The Impact of Environmental Policies on Driver’s Licensing in Canada: What You Need to Know for 2025
Tumblr media
In recent years, Canada has seen a growing emphasis on sustainability and climate change mitigation, and this shift is making its way into the driver’s licensing process. By 2025, several provinces are adopting new policies aimed at promoting eco-friendly driving habits, electric vehicles (EVs), and green transportation technologies. If you're planning to get or renew your driver's license in Canada this year, it’s important to understand how these policies may affect you.
This blog explores how Canada’s environmental goals are influencing the driver’s license system, from new regulations for EV drivers to mandatory eco-driving courses and changes to driver education.
1. EV-Focused Licensing: Special Requirements for Electric Vehicle Drivers
One of the most significant changes is the rise of electric vehicles (EVs). With the Canadian government pledging to reduce carbon emissions, many provinces have introduced new licensing and training programs for those who drive EVs. In British Columbia and Ontario, for instance, drivers of electric commercial vehicles now have to meet specific certification requirements.
As of 2025, these drivers may be required to take specialized courses to understand the unique features of EVs, such as battery management, energy consumption, and charging stations. Some provinces are even offering discounted fees for EV owners to encourage the switch to electric vehicles, thus supporting Canada’s broader environmental goals.
The push for EV-friendly policies doesn’t stop with commercial drivers; private drivers may soon see incentives in the form of rebates or tax credits when upgrading to an electric car. As more Canadians make the transition to EVs, understanding the related licensing rules will become an important part of the driver’s licensing process.
2. Eco-Driving Courses as a Licensing Requirement
To further promote sustainable driving, provinces like Quebec and Nova Scotia have started offering eco-driving courses that focus on fuel-efficient driving techniques. These programs teach drivers how to minimize fuel consumption by optimizing their driving habits—such as maintaining a steady speed, reducing idling time, and using energy-efficient routes.
In the future, some provinces may even mandate eco-driving training for first-time drivers or those renewing their licenses. This would not only benefit the environment but also help drivers save money on fuel and maintenance. As climate-conscious policies become more ingrained in Canada’s transportation sector, drivers will need to adapt to new standards and regulations related to sustainable driving.
3. Changes to Driver Education in Response to Climate Change Policies
Canadian driving schools have begun updating their curriculum to reflect green driving principles. These updates focus on the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and encouraging responsible driving. In 2025, driver education programs now include modules on alternative fuel vehicles, the impact of air pollution, and the importance of reducing personal carbon footprints.
In addition to traditional driving skills, learners are now being taught how to operate hybrid vehicles and EVs and how these cars differ from gasoline-powered cars in terms of driving habits and maintenance needs. The inclusion of these topics in driver education ensures that new drivers are aware of their environmental responsibilities, preparing them to be more conscious of their impact on the planet.
4. Licensing Adjustments for Carpooling and Shared Mobility
As part of efforts to reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions, several provinces are now introducing shared mobility programs and policies that encourage carpooling and the use of ride-sharing services. In response, some regions are offering incentives to drivers who participate in carpooling and have earned a special driver certification that allows them to access high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes or qualify for discounts on tolls and parking.
To facilitate these initiatives, license renewals may involve a brief online course or check-in to confirm participation in shared mobility programs. This is part of a broader initiative to make cities more sustainable and improve the efficiency of urban transportation.
5. Digital Driver’s Licenses (eDL) and Sustainability
The move toward digital driver’s licenses (eDL) in Canada is not just about convenience—it’s also part of the effort to reduce the environmental footprint associated with traditional paper licenses. Provinces like Ontario and British Columbia are already offering residents the option to use mobile apps to access their driver’s license digitally, eliminating the need for a physical card.
By reducing the production and distribution of plastic cards, Canada is making strides toward a more sustainable system. eDLs also offer enhanced security, making it harder for drivers to lose their licenses or have them stolen. As digital technologies continue to evolve, more Canadians will likely embrace the convenience and environmental benefits of the eDL system.
6. The Future of Sustainable Transportation Policies in Canada
Looking toward the future, Canada’s sustainability goals will continue to shape its licensing and transportation policies. By 2030, Canada is aiming for net-zero carbon emissions, which will likely include stricter regulations on driving habits, vehicle emissions, and the adoption of electric vehicles.
As part of this initiative, Canada may roll out new policies related to automated driving systems, such as driverless cars, which have the potential to drastically reduce carbon emissions by optimizing driving patterns and vehicle efficiency. Canadians should expect continued changes in the licensing process as more technological innovations in transportation are integrated into everyday life.
Adapting to New Sustainability-Driven Licensing Rules:
Stay Informed: Keep up with the latest environmental policies in your province to ensure you are aware of new licensing requirements for EVs and eco-driving courses.
Consider EV Training: If you’re planning to switch to an electric vehicle, look into the certification programs and training offered to ensure a smooth transition.
Use Online Resources: Platforms like licenseprep.ca can help you stay up-to-date on the latest driving laws and prepare for any changes related to eco-friendly policies.
