The importance of engaging content in Twitch streaming
Tumblr media
At the heart of Amouranth's success lies her ability to consistently produce engaging content that keeps viewers coming back for more. In a saturated streaming landscape, standing out requires more than just good gameplay skills. It demands a deep understanding of what resonates with viewers and a willingness to go the extra mile to deliver exceptional content.
One of the key aspects of engaging content is storytelling. Amouranth has mastered the art of weaving narratives into her streams, whether it's through her commentary during gameplay or through creative segments that add depth to her content. By giving viewers a reason to invest emotionally in her streams, she creates a sense of anticipation and excitement that keeps them coming back for more.
Additionally, variety is crucial in keeping viewers engaged. Amouranth understands the importance of mixing up her content to cater to different interests and preferences. She seamlessly transitions between different gaming genres, introduces new games, and incorporates interactive elements such as viewer challenges or collaborations with other streamers. This variety not only keeps her streams fresh and exciting but also allows her to attract a wider audience.
Interactivity is another key aspect of engaging content. Amouranth actively encourages viewer participation through chat interactions, polls, and giveaways. By fostering a sense of community and making viewers feel heard and valued, she creates an inclusive and interactive streaming experience that keeps her audience engaged and invested in her streams.
Leveraging audience interaction and engagement
Amouranth's ability to engage and interact with her audience has been instrumental in her success as a Twitch streamer. She understands that streaming is not a one-sided experience but rather a collaborative journey between the streamer and the viewers. By actively involving her audience in her streams, she creates a sense of belonging and fosters deeper connections with her viewers.
One of the ways Amouranth leverages audience interaction is through chat engagement. She actively reads and responds to viewer messages, creating a lively and dynamic chat experience. This not only allows her to build personal connections with her audience but also provides opportunities for viewer-driven content and discussions.
Amouranth also incorporates interactive elements into her streams to further engage her audience. Viewer challenges, polls, and giveaways are just a few examples of how she encourages active participation. These interactive elements not only make viewers feel like an integral part of the stream but also create a sense of excitement and anticipation, keeping them actively engaged throughout the broadcast.
Furthermore, Amouranth understands the importance of community building. She goes beyond the stream to connect with her audience through social media platforms, Discord servers, and even in-person meetups. By creating spaces where her viewers can interact with each other and with her, she fosters a sense of belonging and creates a dedicated and supportive community.
Monetization strategies for Twitch streamers
Monetization is a crucial aspect of any streaming career, and Amouranth has successfully implemented strategies to generate revenue from her Twitch streams. While she has faced some controversy regarding her monetization methods, there are valuable lessons to be learned from her approach.
One of the primary ways Amouranth monetizes her streams is through subscriptions. By offering different subscription tiers that come with exclusive benefits such as emotes, badges, and ad-free viewing, she provides additional value to her viewers and incentivizes them to support her financially. Subscriptions not only generate a steady stream of income but also create a sense of exclusivity and belonging among subscribers.
Amouranth also leverages sponsorships and brand partnerships as a source of income. By collaborating with brands that align with her content and values, she not only generates revenue but also provides her viewers with opportunities to engage with products or services that may be of interest to them. However, it is essential to strike a balance between sponsored content and maintaining authenticity to avoid alienating the audience.
Additionally, Amouranth diversifies her revenue streams by leveraging platforms other than Twitch. She has a strong presence on social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube, where she can monetize through brand collaborations, sponsored content, and ad revenue. By expanding her reach beyond Twitch, Amouranth maximizes her earning potential and reduces reliance on a single platform.
The controversy surrounding Amouranth's streams
Amouranth's success has not come without its fair share of controversy. She has faced criticism and scrutiny for her content, particularly regarding her use of provocative attire and the perceived exploitation of her appearance to gain viewership. While opinions on this matter vary, it is crucial to consider the complexities and nuances of the streaming landscape.
It is essential to recognize that Amouranth's content choices should be viewed through the lens of personal agency and autonomy. As a streamer, she has the right to express herself and curate content that aligns with her brand. However, it is equally important to maintain a balance between personal expression and responsible content creation to ensure the well-being and comfort of both the streamer and the audience.
It is also worth noting that the controversy surrounding Amouranth's streams highlights the ongoing dialogue about gender representation and objectification in the gaming and streaming communities. These conversations are important for promoting inclusivity, respect, and fair treatment of all individuals involved in the industry.

TADC Actor AU
An AU where the characters are actors, Roger Rabbit style. We had fun in the Bunny Doll Burrow.
Characters list
Pomni 📖
A quiet girl who writes books in her free time. She started her career on TV in Japan, where she was born. She was under contract to do commercials and modeling until she moved to the USA to study accounting. She meets Caine when he opens an account with her. Thanks to him, she gets into show business again in a much healthier manner. Helping in commercials again and smaller roles in films. After she and Caine get married, he helps her get her first major role as the Jester in The Amazing Digital Circus series.
Caine ⭐️
Was born into show business. Literally, his mom went into labor in the middle of a circus act, and she had to birth him inside the pool behind the circus tent. His family owns a circus in Vegas and is known as the most glamorous family in Nevada. Because of this, he started as a child star and learned how to maintain a healthy work environment for performers thanks to his family. His family hired Bubble to be his agent when Caine turned 18. Because of his impressive record in show business, bright and happy personality, he is a well-known A tier actor. He agreed to play the ringmaster in TADC as long as his wife, Pomni, can have a role.
Ragatha 🎀
Super kind and sweet. Started show business in college with her best friend Kaufmo. The two were close and did auditions together. She is mostly known for smaller films that are very artsy. Those 3 hour long films that have a hidden meaning? Yeah, she likes doing those kinds of films. Art runs in her vains, and she doesn't care much about how much money she gains. As long as she has enough to get by in life and does what she enjoys, she is happy. She does modeling thanks to Kaufmo, acting like a part-time agent for her. One day, Kaufmo calls her up about a role he's auditioning for in TADC and convinces her to audition. At the auditions, she meets a bunny who is also auditioning for the role Kaufmo is auditioning for. She gets the role, and so does Kaufmo. Until one rainy day, they get into a car crash, causing Kaufmos death.
Jax 🐰
A ball of fluff with an ego. He is well loved by many actors and others in the show business. He helps out mostly backstage as an understudy on Broadway, stunt double, and a vocal and actor coach. He helped and taught famous actors like Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel, Rocky from Lackadaisy, and N from Murder Drones. His students describe him as a fun, whacky, and kind guy. He does impressions, too. He substituted for Angel Dust's voice in the song Addiction when he was sick. And he substituted other lines for other stars when they couldn't. Like when Rocky was recovering from vocal surgery, Jax took over and did the monologue Rocky does while he throws dynamite. Jax auditioned to be the bully in TADC and met a kind doll. But he didn't get the part that day. Until a month later, he gets a call that they are recasting, and he got the part. Tadc will be his first major role in his career, and he's beyond excited to be a part of it.
Gangel 🎭
A steamer and a theater kid since middle school. She streams video games, reactions, and acting/singing tips. Her goal is to get to 1 million followers on her platforms and have fun. She was bullied as a kid and just wants to make others happy. She gets help from her fiancé Zooble in her streams. She loves posting everything she does and gets over excited by everything. Her favorite things to react to are anime shows, and she loves video games. One day, she hears about the auditions for TADC and rushes Zooble to audition with her. Zoobel refuses to audition and just takes Gangel. Gangel gets a part, and she streams it right away. She has trouble keeping secrets, by the way. She'll most likely post about anything by accident.
Zooble 🔺️
Tattoo artist and owns her own shop. She was never interested in acting or singing. They were always bullied for looking different than most toons. Very quiet, camera shy, and keeps to themselves. Until someone makes fun of Gangel. They are super supportive of their fiancé and help Gangel whenever they can. They aren't afraid to go internet warrior mode if they see someone picking on Gangel. One day, Gangel begs them to take her to the auditions for TADC. At the studio, the ones in charge automatically take a liking to Zoobles unique look. Mentioning how it matches the circus theme. They wanted to create a role just for them, but Zooble tried to reject the offer. Until Gangel convinces them.
Kinger ♟️
Both a director and actor with his wife Queenie. He is a family man and makes some of the best movies. He loves musicals and helps with soundtracks. He started doing show business in his mid twenties when he found a talent in storytelling and started making scripts. Step by step, he became a director and actor. He didn't really audition for TADC. They called him up if he could help write the show, and he just somehow ended up in the show when they couldn't find a good fit for the role of Loony Man.
Bubbel 🫧
Part time agent, part time fashion designer and full time drag queen. Enough said.

part 3
feat. kenma, tsukishima, iwaizumi
Tumblr media
steamer!KENMA
kenma loves his job. as a professional streamer he’s his own boss, he doesn’t have to be around people too often and he’s become really fond of his little online community (not that he’d admit that out loud).
it’s been a week since your unplanned debut on his channel. you didn’t realize he was recording when you came to drop of his snacks, doing your daily check in. ever since, all the tags with his stream name were aggressively loving, basically demanding him to bring back their ‘mother’ to the screen.
you drop in every now and then to remind his viewers to look after themselves, jokingly scolding them for not looking after your man aswell but it’s all fun and games on both ends.
whilst watching his stream in the room next door, you can help but notice a user in particular.
@/kodzubae: LMAOOO i thought he would be dating someone much prettier😭 didn’t know kodzu did charity cases.
even though the chat was moving before you could read all the comments, your eyes always managed to find whatever the user said about you, and none of it was nice. you didn’t have to be told not to read the comments— it’s an unspoken fact but your eyes and brain always seem to betray you, feeding into your minor insecurities.
you haven’t even realized you were staring at a blank screen. kenmas’ stream had ended whilst you were too lost in your thoughts.
“…you alright?” he asked hesitantly.
though your eyes lit up and your lips quirked at the sight of your boyfriend, he knew something was up— call it a sixth sense of his.
you wordlessly tried to convince him that you were okay, talking and joking the rest of the night until you fell asleep in his embrace but none of it felt genuine. he didn’t want to pry, but it physically hurt him to see you hiding things from him.
totally disregarding the first rules of boyfriend 101: “don’t go through your partners phone!”, kenma unlocked your phone, instantly frowning at the screen before him.
it was her twitter page. kenma knew his lifelong fans, and the handle on your screen now was one of them, except it was full of fan behavior for him and blatant hatred for you.
he felt bad.
it wasn’t exactly his fault, but he still felt responsible for the digs at you that were happening on his live.
the next day, you had woken up hours after kenma. you tend to do that when you sleep with a heavy heart.
in the distance, you could hear him talking, probably streaming. so you opened his stream on your phone and tuned in right on time.
“hey guys,” he greeted. “before we start i want to say something…i’ve become aware that ever since ‘mother’,” he emphasized on the quote marks. “made her first appearance, some of you have not been the nicest to her online and i just want to say that that’s a boundary that absolutely cannot be crossed.”
@/user1: WHAT? WHO HURT MOTHER
@/user2: i hope she’s okay :( luv u mom
@/user3: we’re just going to skip over the fact that he acknowledges them as our parents? okay…
@/user4: cross ken >:( cross ken >:(
“so from here on out, any hate towards her will be an instant block. i’ve told my mods too so behave…” he firmly, yet gently scolded.
“now that’s out of the way, today we’ll be…”
you watched the rest of the stream with a smile on your face. though you were working on voicing your concerns and discomfort, it was nice to know that kenma is willing to work for you whilst he waited.
TSUKISHIMA (tall!reader)
“you look so much taller when you’re not welded into tsukkis’ side, ya know?”
startled, you angled your neck down to see one of your classmates.
you had been avoiding her, and she, you. but it seems she’s finally willing to break this ongoing silent tension fest between you two.
“what do you want.” you deadpanned.
she gasped. “you’re too mean! tsukishima doesn’t deserve to be with someone like you, he deserves someone who is more down to earth, you get me?”
she eyed you up and down to emphasize her point.
taking your silence as willingness to listen, she continued. “i mean your too tall! granted he is too but opposites attract, he needs someone who will look good with him, like me.”
you folded your lips inward to contain your laughter. you and basically everyone knew about this girls love for your boyfriend, but you never pegged her as the type to come at you like this.
“you can have him if you want,” you waved. “kei looooves short girls.”
her eyes lit up in victory, obviously not sensing your sarcasm. “cool, just make sure you break up with him today because-“
“nobody is breaking up with anyone.” a voice shot.
low and behold, your six foot something boyfriend shutting down any advances you were planning to set him up with. though he joined the conversation, he only appeared to be addressing you.
“kei! i-“
“tsukishima.”
“tsukki! i-”
“no.”
he made eye contact with your smirking face over the girls head. “you were just gonna throw me to the wolves like that?” he asked offended.
you chucked. “there’s no wolves kei, look at her” you pinched the cheek of the stunned girl stood in between you two. “she’s harmless, like a poodle.”
she stood, mouth open seemingly in shock.
looking back at him, his face did not let up. you sighed.
“i’m sorry kei,” you breathed through your nose. “i will never subject you to such a horrible, earth shattering, torturous-“
“that’s enough, my god” he groaned. grabbing your wrist, he dragged you by the wrist, only slowing down when you rounded the corner, out of the girls view.
“you know i was joking, right.” you poked his cheek, to which he swatted your hand away.
“i know you’re joking,” his signature smirk appeared. “after all you wouldn’t throw away the opportunity to date the guy you’ve been crushing on for as long as you’ve been here. if i recall, your confession went along the lines of ‘i-“
you slapped your hand over his mouth in embarrassment. leave it to the guy to turn your confession into a weapon against you.
you playfully bickered down the rest of the hall, forgetting all about the girl who had tried to take your place earlier.
IWAIZUMI
“are you sure you’re not only using him to like, get to oikawa or something?”
the first words this girl had spoken to you. you don’t know who she is, or where she came from but she has some nerve coming with such a ridiculous question considering you haven’t formally met before.
“excuse me?”
“you heard me,” her tone was now accusatory. “i’ve seen many girls do iwa dirty because they want oikawa so if that’s the case save yourself an ass beating and leave him alone!”
you don’t know if you have bad memory or what because you don’t know who this girl is and as far as your concerned, neither does your boyfriend.
“i’m sorry, are you a friend of his?” you were more confused than anything.
“i am his and he is mine.”
woah.
you didn’t want to accuse her, but every sign she was showing pointed to a major case of FDS (fan delusion syndrome), a case of the crazies found in fans of the oikawa toru founded by you, maki and mattsun, but you were unaware that this case was also present in your boyfriends own… supporters.
you don’t blame them though because your man is a total hunkkkk. anyways.
right on queue, the door slid open and both of your heads turned to meet hajime’s, and of course he has to show up with a sweaty face, shirt practically clinging to his defined body.
“hajime!” the girl called, running and stopping infront of him. “she’s using you do get to oikawa, break up with her!”
he followed the finger that was pointed to you— confused and lost in the middle of the gym.
“that’s my girlfriend, she doesn’t like him like that.”
the sound of a shattered heart pierced the sudden silence. “w-w-what do you mean girlfriend, she’s after toru i’m sure of it!”
a humorless chuckle sounded from his throat. “trust me, she doesn’t ”
being cautious not to set the girl off, he traversed around her, and straight to you who watched the whole interaction both concerned and amused.
“wowww,” you breathed. “i didn’t know you were also a cause for FDS.”
“what?”
“nothing,” you straightened. “i don’t blame her though. i would go crazy if you walked around looking like that too.”
his face flushed and he turned away. “stop saying things like that…”
you smiled, poking his cheek. “what, i can’t appreciate my boyfriend who’s built like he was carved from the greek gods himself?”
he walked away after pushing your face with his hand, drowning your chuckle.
“c’mon haji, don’t be like that,” you chased after him. “you have to be feeling yourself a little after seeing the affect you have of the seijoh population!”
the girl watched as you made her ‘man’ flush, comment after comment, feeling numb as she watched him get more and more out of his reach.

On The Same Page pt 6(Simon 'Ghost' Riley x Reader Bookshop! AU)
Stuck in by the rain, you, Simon, and Sam receive important news over dinner...
Part 5, Part 7, Masterlist
Image from GIF by tana-the-dreamchaser
Tumblr media
Simon followed you up the stairs like a shadow, his steps even but quiet. If not for his hand seeking yours you would have thought him a ghost. He seems to seek you like a moth to starlight and you find yourself relaxing with his close presence. You reach the door at the top of the stairs and push it open to be met with the smell of a simmering spice. You perk up instantly and call out for Sam. His curls pop out of the kitchen and seeing your entwined hands he smiles.
“Are you making what I think you are making?” You ask hopefully, eyes softened towards your friend. You step into the living area and release your hand from Simon’s. He abides by it but lingers close to you, choosing to take in his surroundings.
The vibes of the apartment are, well, eclectic. Amongst the thriving house plants, SImon can see little bits of you and Sam. The worn love seat a dappled plum color, a plush leather couch, and, he looks at the floor and chuckles, a fox in a sweater welcome mat. You move to the kitchen after asking Simon to make himself comfortable. He nods and moves to the loveseat, taking your backpack off and setting it to the side before taking a seat. He observes further as you step into the kitchen to talk to Sam.
On the coffee table, there is a vase of sunflowers, the TV stand is an old steamer trunk, and lining the far walls across from the door are books. Upon four shelves is a library’s worth of books and Simon stands and approaches them. Upon further expectation he cracks a smile, the inner panel of the bookshelves are painted the same as the ceiling of the bookstore. A rough hand comes up and he traces the spines of some of the leather-bound books. There are books of all kinds roughly categorized by genre. Littered amongst the shelves are other things, among them, Simon finds things like a cow teapot, a Union Jack mug holding pens, leather-bound notebooks, a dragon beanie baby, and something else that pauses his searching.
On a desk in the middle of the two sets of shelves is a collection of mechanical parts. The smell of gun oil and steel pulls memories from service and he leans down, turning on the desk lamp to examine it closer. In the middle of the desk is a typewriter. The carriage is set aside from the body of the typewriter and the smell of oil gets stronger. He looks around the table and finds a myriad of cases, some big and others small, mostly belonging to what he assumes to be typewriters.
You pop your head out of the kitchen to call for SImon but you find him engrossed in his examination. You smile, unsurprised at his curiosity, most visitors are drawn in by the book before stumbling upon your workstation. You step out of the kitchen and call to him. He looks up and turns to you in question.
“Dinner is ready.”
You say it with a growing grin as Sam had made enchiladas in a Tex-Mex style you missed. Simon looks back to the disassembled typewriter once more before he approaches you and follows you into the kitchen. If the living area was eclectic the kitchen was more so. Along the walls of the modest space hung pictures of every kind. Along the side wall, under a window was an old dresser or antique buffet that held a beaten-up record player. Along the wall were art prints, old diagrams, and book posters. On the buffet, next to the kitchen table was a collection of tabletop books, big glossy things meant as eye candy. He huffs a laugh at the selection: fox photo collections, Jules Verne releases, and typewriters.
He turns his attention to Sam who is already sitting at the table, three places set for you guys to eat. Even the cutlery and plates are a mix of wild colors and subtle finery. You move to the stove where a baking dish holds something excellent smelling. Grabbing some oven mitts (fox chefs of course) you take the dish and set it on some ceramic pot holders on the table.
“I hope you like enchiladas.” You say it with a pleased expression before shooting Sam a nostalgic smile. You motion for Simon to sit and he does before you take the seat next to him.
You all begin to eat without much fuss, conversation passing in softer words between you and Sam while Simon chimes in every once in a while. However, after about 15 minutes in, Sam pauses as if remembering something.
You see a look pass over his face before he reaches behind him and picks up a letter off of the counter behind him. He offers it to you and you recognize the handwriting.
“Sofia was here earlier, she looked urgent and dropped this off mentioning for you to read it. Something about a collaboration of some kind for a release over here. She wouldn’t give me more details than that before she was rushing off to her next appointment.”
“Huh,” You work on prying the envelope open gently, “she would normally call.”
Sam shrugs but watches with curiosity as you pull out a typed document. The paper at first touch is heavy, almost a thin cardstock, and the smell of ink and paper is crisp. There is even a wax seal holding the paper close and you want to roll your eyes. The sneaking familiarity seeps into your bones as you swipe a finger under the seal breaking it and unfolding the paper. When you read the heading your stomach clenches. It was from your old company. Something in your demeanor must have changed as you lean back in your chair feeling suddenly winded. Sharp eyes turn to you and Simon and Sam both stop eating.
“What is it? Sam asks with concern, leaning forward in his chair. Simon next to you frowns as your eyes skim the letter, your shoulders getting tenser and tenser. At the end of the letter, you bite your lip before slowly closing the letter and handing it across the table to Sam without a word. He about tears it open and reads it himself.
“This is bullshit.” These are the first words out of his mouth and he tosses the letter onto the table. You don't reply, instead pushing your almost empty plate aside and putting your head in your hands with a sigh. Simon’s hand finds your knee under the table instantly and you eye him through your hands. There is exhaustion in your eyes, one that is familiar to him. You move to lay your head down with a sigh, leaning towards Simon naturally for comfort.
“What is it, Dove?” He asks, voice low.
“Read for yourself.” Is all you offer and he does so, reaching a long arm for the letter before reading.
The letter begins with a ‘greetings’ in a faceless text. Following are niceties and a “wish you are well’. One that you wanted to scoff at, given your last encounter with your previous publisher. He continues over the unnecessary and gets to the meat of the letter.
… due to the raving success of your last book under our services, we have decided to do a release tour and event of James’s new book under your direction. We have already reached out to Sofia for contact with you.  Given both books' American popularity, we expect such a collaboration to benefit not only you but also White Owl Publishing. We expect James’s arrival in London this Sunday. If you have any questions please reach us at…
Simon frowns and looks at you.
“When the hell did James start writing?” Sam asks you but you just groan and pull yourself up, a hand reaching under the table to squeeze Simon’s in silent thanks. Something serious settles over you,
“I don’t know. Maybe when he started sleeping with the CEO’s daughter.”
You bite it, voice sharp as a knife. The woman was an accomplished author under her fathers' direction and specialized in YA and new adult romance novels. You used to hold a lot of respect for her when you first joined the company but she soon, after learning of your specialization in children's literature, became downright dismissive. That dismission partnered with a giggly fascination with James, turned you away from her and towards the more quiet of the other authors and editors. However, given her status as the CEO's daughter, there was no escaping her influence, thankfully Sofia was always with you, and due to your focus on children, you didn't have to interact with her much. Other than events like the Publisher’s Gala, and well you know how the last one turned out.
After the gala, you had learned from one loyal person, a fellow children's author named Sarah that the affair had been going strong for months. She hadn’t known until a drunk Sabrina had bragged on his arm at an after-party that faithful night. She called the moment she discovered your plans to leave and wanted you to know.
Back in the moment, you debate your options. Given the publication’s no doubt about you after the Gala, you couldn’t risk saying no to this. Why they wanted to associate with a ‘failure and second rate nobody’ you didn't know. You look to Sam, his family's business was now connected with one of the largest publishers in America, and you weren't going to risk their skins because of disgust and fear. A silent resolution lit up your face, Sam, seeing this, grins.
“You're going to go with this.” It's not a question out of his mouth. A shaky smile hits your face at that. Simon just looks to you, something about your determination makes him want to smile. His hand turns to entangle with yours under the table and you look at him, taking this as his support.
“Johnny will want to knock some heads” His voice surprises you and laughter bubbles out of your chest. It quiets down to giggles a moment later and you pull your plate back to you. He wasn't wrong. A few tea times after meeting the man you had told the Scot the story of why you ended up in London. His brows furrowed and looking at you he cursed.
“Cheat? On a prize like you lass? Need me to do him in?”
You mention this to Simon in a giggle. He smiles.
“Good man, Johnny is.”
He runs his thumb over your knuckles and you breathe out as your heart skips a beat, tension draining from your form as you take another bite before nodding in agreement. Simon gives you a small smile before he turns back to his food with a hum, but his hand remains in yours through the rest of dinner.
---
After dinner, you stand up to collect the dishes. Sam gives you a look before shooting up to race you to the sink. You beat him by a foot before splashing him with cool water. He chuckles at you, eyes brightening at your mirthful expression. You hear the sound of a chair and Simon stands. Sam looks at you with a grin and a raised brow before he pulls himself into a stretch.
He looks at Simon and then back to himself.
“I may have a shirt and some sweats if you’d like to change Simon.”
The taller man moves around the table and pauses, looks down at his jeans, and gives a nod. With the confirmation, Sam winks at you and leaves the kitchen for his room. You shake your head fondly before going to wash the dishes, but a hand stops you. Simon is next to you then, the proximity quickening your heart once again.
“I’ll do ‘em,”
is a statement and he nudges you aside gently with his large frame. You realize then just how big he is. While you were by no means tiny, Simon was tall. Sam was easily 6’ but you had to tilt your head to look up at Simon. He started dutifully washing plates without any more comments so you studied the side profile of his face. With a strong jawline cut with a few scars, your eyes focus on his eyes, focused and quiet as he works. The action, so domestic, calms something in you. While you loved being with Sam, you missed being with a partner sometimes, the attraction and the comfort. You loved Sam like a brother and that came with the typical roommate squabbles sometimes, you laugh mentally. You missed James some though despite everything. Having another person to hold was a human element absent in your life.
But, your heart murmured, there is Simon.
You sigh inwardly, your heart skipping a beat as you envision his smiles. They lit up his face in a way that took the weight of his service, the exhaustion, off his shoulders for even a brief moment. He had seemingly been open, but respectful about some sort of feelings towards you, and you cherished his careful support.
Your hand on his arm pauses Simon, and his eyes flicker down to yours in question. Without much thought your hand traces what is exposed of his forearm, fingers swirling around the inked skin, you linger a moment. Then, with a steady exhalation from Simon, your hands follow up his arm and over the sleeve, feeling the strength of his bicep Simon stills. His other hand reaches for the hand towel and setting the plate down he pulls back from the sink and turns his attention fully to you.
You look engrossed in your study of him, like a jeweler over a diamond or precious stone. You lift for a moment seeing the towel and step back, allowing the man to dry his hands before he takes the next step to follow you. Your eyes widen in realization when your back hits the side counter and Simon steps comfortably, naturally even, into your space.
Your breath catches in your throat when he raises a hand to your face, it ghosts over your cheek before, heart pounding, you lean into his palm. It is rough, worn from years of work, but it's warm, and something deep in you preens at the touch. Honey eyes find yours, widening a moment as you lean in, before lowering in reverence. Here you were, he thought,
“Sweet thing.”
It comes out in a whisper and your heart clenches. You close your eyes, raising a hand against his, cherishing the feel of the touch. His heart stutters then when you reopen your eyes and give him a sweet smile. Your hand runs down his arm and the other wraps around his abdomen and you close the space between the both of you with an embrace. His arms drop in surprise, but as your head comes to rest against his chest, they soon engulf you in the scent of leather and smoke.
With your ear against his sturdy chest, you can hear his heart pick up, you smile to yourself then, happy the effect is mutual. Simon inhales the scent of old books and baked goods and hums, the sound reverberating through you. He chuckles before setting his head on yours just enjoying the feeling of you in his arms. You mutter something and he questions you with another hum. You repeat it a bit louder.
“Want dessert?” The question incites a chuckle from him and his arms loose to look down at you. Something swirls in his eyes, warm like syrup, and his lips quirked up in a smile.
“Sure, Honey.” The two syllables of endearment are languid and you bask in them like a noon sun. His eyes flicker down to your lips a moment and your breath catches, but the sound of footsteps alerts you to Sam. You know him well enough, he doesn't want to interrupt so you smile at Simon and run your hands up his arms before stepping out of his grasp. Sam enters a second later with a bundle of clothes. His eyes are lit up and after glancing at you he grins at Simon.
“Here you are, Mate.” He gives a mock British accent and hands the bundle to Simon. You then pat the taller man's arm.
“Guest room is down the hall, Sam will show you. There's a bathroom too. I hope you eat cheesecake?”
You ask him and he just nods before Sam motions to him to follow. Simon gives you one last glance then heads after Sam. Once both men are out of the kitchen you grasp at your pounding heart as your stomach flutters. You felt giddy, a childish wonder in your heart at the affection. Simon was so warm and you felt safe in his arms. You hum to yourself as you pass to the fridge, opening it and examining the inside.
Beside produce and leftovers sat your quarry, made a day or so ago. There sat a glorious strawberry shortcake cheesecake, made by you. Albeit there was a slice missing courtesy of Sam but the cake was an absolute unit. You pull the covered dish out carefully as Sam pads into the kitchen alone. He leans against the counter as you work and regards you.
You hum more as you work, relaxing further in his presence, reaching to grab three plates. You then cut modest slices for each of you before sticking the rest of the cake back in the fridge.
“You’re thinking too loud Sammy.”
You then turn to him, a knowing look on your face. What surprises you is the serious look on his, Sam’s arms are crossed as he leans. You set the plates on the table before approaching your friend.
“What’s wrong?”
Green eyes turn to you, dark as English ivy, and they flicker down to you.
“I think James means trouble.”
It is all he offers. You sigh, taking a seat at the table. You think a moment. You wondered why your manager, Sofia wouldn't have called you, but this seemed like such a sudden onset by your old publisher. Given her sudden rush to leave you wondered where this put Sam’s family. Hearing your story the small publisher was happy to take both you and Sofia under their wing. White Owl Publishing was small, but they had cherished new classics under them. Your eyes flick up to meet Sam’s.
“We can’t risk your family’s reputation. Not after everything they've done for me and Sofia.”
Sam’s jaw clenches and you are taken aback a moment when his muscles tense. Sam had always been the most level-headed person you know.
“I don’t give a shit after what he’s done to you.” It is firm, Sam stands taller at the statement. You think back to the firm grip on your neck. Showing up at Sam’s door with tears streaming down your face, the choked sobs. It was the first but not the last time the man had laid hands on you. Weeks before the gala was marked with a possession like no other by James. In hindsight making up for his affair but you didn’t and still don’t understand why Sam triggered it.
“I should have knocked his teeth in the first time he touched you.”
Sam’s voice is even but you can sense the rage simmering. You get up and go to him seeking to comfort him but you jump when you see the form of Simon at the entrance of the kitchen. Your surprise has Sam turning as well, the simmer broken.
“He grabbed you, Dove?”  Simon’s voice is ice. If you thought Sam was simmering rage, Simon has the look of a soldier. His eyes are dark and his lips are up in a snarl, but he is collected, with a refined rage, trained to kill. You gulp. You nod slowly.
“In the past month or so before the gala, when I found out he was cheating. James got possessive.” You say it calmly but there is a bubble of anxiety, black and vile, in your stomach. You try to shake it off, but the shadow of the experience hangs over you. Simon, fresh from the shower steps into the kitchen, hands open in an offering. Sam watches as you glance at Simon before stepping into the man’s embrace, something in his chest settling with firm contentment.
Simon on the other hand wraps you in one arm and uses his hand to smooth down your hair. He rocks you slowly and you melt in his arms. You calm in his arms, staying a quiet moment before running a hand over his shoulder and reluctantly pulling back. You look up to Simon with a shy smile,
“The cake will get warm.”
He lets you go slowly and follows you and Sam to the table. He takes the same seat and is met with a heavenly smell. The smell of vanilla and strawberry draws his eyes to the masterpiece in front of him. Sam offers him a smile before taking a large bite out of the cake that makes you giggle. You look at Simon before taking your own, albeit more modest bite. Simon follows and is met with heaven. Strawberry bursts on his tongue as the combination of heavy cheesecake and fluffy shortcake mix into a powerful combination.
“Fucking hell Love.” Is all he offers and you laugh, not expecting such a reaction from the stoic man. Your laughter is music to his ears,
“Glad you like it, Simon.”
He could get used to the sound of his name rolling off your tongue.

A Gold Watch That Survived the Titanic Sells for $1.5 Million
The gold watch worn by the Titanic’s richest passenger, John Jacob Astor, has set an auction record as the most expensive item of Titanic memorabilia.
A private collector in the U.S. paid $1.5 million for the 14-carat gold Waltham pocket watch engraved with the initials J.J.A. The item was part of the “Titanic, White Star and Transport Memorabilia” sale held by British auction house Aldridge & Son on April 27. The watch was one of around 250 items and easily surpassed its high estimate of $150,000.
Astor, a real estate developer and member of the New York dynastic family made rich by fur trading in the 18th and 19th centuries, died at the age of 47 when the ship sank in 1912. Astor had sparked scandal by marrying a woman nearly 30 years his junior and was returning to New York following a protracted honeymoon to Europe and Egypt designed to quell the gossip.
Tumblr media
He was last seen smoking a cigarette with the author Jacques Futrelle after escorting his wife, Madeleine Talmadge Force, and friend Margaret Brown safely into lifeboat four. Both women survived.
Astor’s body was found on April 22 by CS MacKay-Bennett, a cable laying steamer that was repurposed as a recovery ship by the White Star Line, the Titanic’s operator. In addition to the pocket watch, his cuff links, diamond ring, golden pencil, and pocketbook, along with money in various currencies, were recovered.
The possessions were returned to Astor’s son, Vincent, who restored the pocket watch before gifting it to his father’s long-serving secretary William Dobbyn in 1935. The Dobbyn family kept the item until sending it to auction in the late 1990s.

creepy/messed-up history facts
the man in the booth across from lincoln was named major henry rathbone, and after booth fired the shot, rathbone tried to tackle him to the ground, but booth sliced rathbone in the arm with a dagger. after that night, rathbone was never free of guilt. he suffered from stomach ailments to heart palpitations, and on december 23rd 1883, he attacked and killed his wife clara, and attempted to kill himself. he spent the rest of his life in a mental institution.
in 1494, sailors returning from the new world brought with them massive outbreak of syphilis, which spread through an entire french army, and with no antibiotics to counteract it, the disease spread unchecked. the skin on victims' faces would essentially rot away from the grisly ulcers. in some cases, the noses, lips and other body parts of the affected people were essentially gone.
in 1890, thomas edison, using wax cylinder, produced a line of baby dolls. they had wooden bodies, procelain heads, and miniature phonographs in their chests. the phonographs would play back recordings of young women reciting nursery rhymes like "hictory dickory dock," and "now i lay me down to sleep." (here's the audio of them x)
dentures used to be made from the teeth of dead soldiers. they were ivory base plates with real human teeth attached, a lot of these were sold to dentists by scavengers looting corpses from the battle of waterloo. the dentists would boil the them down, cut off the roots, attach them to ivory plates, and sell them.
in 1929, a pair of scientists at princeton university wanted to test and understand how the auditory nerve percieves sound, and their test subject was an alive cat. they cut out part of its brain and attached one end of a telephone wire to its auditory nerve and the other end to a reciever. weirdly enough, many researchers think this helped lead to the development of cochlear implants. but the cat was killed after the scientists wanted to see if it worked on a dead cat.
in 1726, mary toft told doctors that she gave birth to rabbits, and doctors were fully convinced until they found pieces of corn inside the stomach of one of the rabbits, proving that it hadn't developed inside her womb. she instead was manually inserting the rabbits to make the delivery look as realistic as possible.
it was believed that babies under the age of 15 months couldn't feel pain, so doctors would instead use muscle relaxers that had a paralytic effect to stop the baby from moving. this essentially meant they couldn't move or cry but they could still hear, see, and feel everything that was done to them. this was accepted up until 1980s
there was a tiger in india named man-eater of champawat who became dependent on human flesh, which at the turn of the 20th century inflicted a seven-year reign, killing 436 men, women, and children. she was eventually killed in 1907.
there was a book called "how the mail steamer went down in mid atlantic, by a survivor," which tells the story of an unnamed ocean liner that sinks in the atlantic. the protagonist is a sailor named thompson, who grows concerned over the lifeboat shortage, and sure enough the liners collides with a small sailing ship in a fog. as the ship sinks, only 200 of the 700 people on board survive. the second novella "the wreck of the titan: or, futility" by morgan robertson, follows the fictional ocean liner titan, which hits an iceberg in the north atlantic and sinks. like the titanic, the titan was described as the largest ship afloat at the time, both ships had a shortage of lifeboats, and the titan was dubbed "unsinkable." when the accident occurred, roberston simply said he was knowledgabe about maritime operations, saying "i know what i'm writing about, that's all."
some books created in the 18th and 19th century were bound in real human skin which was called anthropodermic bibliopegy. most of these books that were bound with human skin instead of animal skin were mostly based on anatomy or erotica.
during the battle of ramree island, which was fought between january and february 1945, japanese soldiers were cornered by english troops seeking to conquer burmese island of ramree, forcing japanese troops to cross 10 miles of swamp. the japanese soon began to suffer the effects of tropical diseases, but the presence of large numbers of scorpions, tropical mosquitoes and thousands of saltwater crocodiles, the world's largest reptiles, was even worse. In its genre. very aggressive beasts that can reach 8 meters in length and weigh more than a ton. according to some survivors, during the night, they were hunted one by one, in which the crocodiles would ambush them from underneath. and the survivors said the worst part was hearing the screams and the breaking of bones in the dark.
there is a cocodile named gustave (or was if you believe he's dead), a large nile crocodile in burundi who has been rumored to have killed 200-300 people. he's never been captured, but it has been stated that he could be "easily more than 20 feet, and weigh more than 2,000 pounds." he was/is estimated to be over 100 years old, and was/is described as having bullet wounds over his body, and his right shoulder blade was found to be deeply wounded, but they don't know what could have caused it. it's been rumored that he would leave the corpses he killed behind. in 2019, an article revealed he was killed, but there's no photographic evidence which leaves people doubting it's true.

Day 5: formal wear character: Jake 'Hangman' Seresin warnings: smut, allusions of sex, dirty talk, public sex
If there was one thing Jake loved to do, it would have to be dressing up. He loved putting on a suit and tie, making sure his hair was perfect, shining his shoes, the whole nine yards. He also loved when his wife dressed up too. He loved going with her to pick out formal dresses to wear to Naval balls. It was like having his own private fashion show which usually ended with a quickie in the changing room.
Tonight was one of those nights. The annual TOPGUN naval ball, and Jake had spent all afternoon steaming his wife’s gown for her. He had his dress whites dry cleaned last week and made sure his medals and ribbons were exactly to standard. He also got a haircut this morning and shaved. Jake peaked into the bathroom, getting the perfect view of her ass as she bent over the counter to apply her lipstick. He groaned at the sight of the black lace underwear and bra she was wearing. He put the steamer back on the handle and walked into the bathroom. Y/N squeaked as she felt his hands grope her ass.
“I love your ass in heels,” He said, and bit her ear lobe. Y/N giggled and turned around in his arms, “We can skip it, ya know. Stay home and. . .”
“Oh no,” Y/N said, pushing out of his grip, “You spent four hours yesterday pinning your ribbons on, we are going to this ball.”
“Leaving at half time,” He said, pointing at her and then walking back into the bedroom to get dressed. Y/N rolled her eyes and walked into the bedroom to also get dressed. The black dress she chose was strapless with a corset back. Jake helped her tie the back of her dress and couldn’t help but place soft kisses against her skin.
Tumblr media
They had managed to keep their hands to themselves for a while, which was probably a new record for them. After the initial speech by Admiral Simpson and then some awards and dinner, it was actually Y/N who was whisking her husband off to the closest bathroom. Rooster gave the two of them a smirk as they rushed off.
The kiss was hot as Jake’s hands roamed her body. He placed her on the counter of the small bathroom, running his hands up her thigh. Her hands pulled at his blonde locks as his mouth went down to her neck. As much as it turned Jake on to see her all dressed up, it turned her on to see Jake in his uniform. Even the sight of him in his flight suit had her wanting to get on her knees.
“God you’re so sexy,” Jake said, his hand running over the black lace thong she had on. He cupped her soaking cunt and a moan fell from her lips, “Shh, not too loud, baby.” He ran a finger over her wet panties and smirked, “What got you this wet? Hm?” He tapped at her clothed clit, her eyes rolling back in her head. Her hips bucked and she whined begging for more of his touch.
“You and this damn uniform,” Y/N groaned, and ran her hands over the lapels of his jacket, “I love a man in uniform.”
Jake smirked and winked at her, “I bet you do.”
“Mhm, and,” She pushed him back far enough for him to get down from the counter. Jake sucked in a breath as she ran her hands down his body, “Let me thank you for your service, lieutenant commander Seresin.”
“God damn that says so hot coming out of your mouth,” Jake moaned. Y/N kissed his lips passionately, before moving down to her knees. She kept eye contact with him the whole time and Jake swore he could bust right then and there, “If this is how you react when I wear my dress uniform, I’m gonna find more excuses to wear them.”

Navigation Lights
It is chastening to think about how many ships were lost at sea prior to the first attempt to force captains to show lights at night. In 1836, a British Commission made recommendations that every steamer should carry lanterns visible in all directions between sunset and sunrise, but it was another two decades before anyone took the issue seriously.
Tumblr media
Various navigation lights, 19th century (x)
By then 3064 collisions involving just British ships were recorded in one year, resulting in the loss of nine steamer and 270 sailing vessels. It was a man named Captain Evans who finally solved the problem in 1849, by devising a forward facing white masthead light for steamer within an arc two points abaft the beam on either side, along with the red and green sidelights on port and starboard sides, showing from right ahead to two points abaft the beam. Sailing vessels, however, would need only to carry a single white light until 1858, when both red and green sidelights were finally made mandatory for these vessels, too.

Two clippers - Nocturne, by Montague Dawson ca. 1940s -1960 (x)
Maritime Conference in 1889 finally saw the USA and other nations fully recognise the importance of navigational lights on ships to prevent collisions. Today, the international Maritime Organization determines the navigational lights to be carried aboard ships, and it has set detailed criteria based on the size and type of vessel. The purpose of the lights is to allow other vessels to determine both the length an the heading of travel of the ship, so that in darkness they can avoid the vessel in its entirety, and take evasive action should the lights indicate.

The standard system is red lights on the left (port side), green on the right (starboard) and white at the back (aft or stern) and front (fore/ bow).

"Meghan and Harry’s $100 Million Netflix Deal Is a Hollywood Miss | Emily Smith Feb 28, 2024
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lucrative Spotify deal fell apart in 2023, Bill Simmons, The Ringer’s founder and managing director, was incensed.
“I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation,” Simmons, the head of podcast innovation and monetization at Spotify, which owns The Ringer, said on his self-titled show. “‘The F–king Grifters.’ That’s the podcast we should have launched with them.”
Simmons’ astonishing comments followed the collapse of the Montecito, California-based Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s $20 million deal with Spotify, signed in December of 2020. They delivered just 12 episodes of Markle’s “Archetypes” podcast.
But the Spotify contract paled in comparison to the estimated $100 million Netflix agreed in September 2020 to pay them, a deal which produced a documentary series “Harry & Meghan” two years later — and little else since then.
Aside from the docuseries, the exclusive Netflix deal produced the “Heart of Invictus” in August 2023, which covered Prince Harry’s games for wounded warriors, and “Live to Lead,” about inspiring world leaders and featured interviews with Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Gloria Steinem. That series premiered on Dec. 31, 2022.
Unproduced is an animated series created by Markle titled “Pearl,” which Netflix axed in May 2022 as part of a series of cutbacks. There is little else close to production.
What’s gone wrong? TheWrap spoke to multiple insiders who say the Sussexes have worn out their welcome in Hollywood with an iron-fisted desire for control, combined with a lack of experience. A revolving door of executives have departed the couple’s production company, Archewell, in the past two years while a long list of exhausted agents, producers and other industry veterans have stamped it with a “life’s too short” reputation.
The Sussexes founded Archewell Productions in the name of their four-year-old son, Archie. It includes their nonprofit charitable foundation, plus a for-profit arm focused on media projects.
“Everything with them was fraught and complicated because they wanted complete control,” one Hollywood creative who has worked with them, who declined to be identified, told TheWrap.
Another insider with knowledge of the management of Archewell agreed, saying the couple have proven to be stubborn to the point of alienating others.
“It appears that they just want what they want and won’t take advice,” the insider said.
“Taking on Harry and Meghan was a great coup for Netflix,” public relations and image guru Mark Borkowski told TheWrap. “It probably got a lot of eyeballs and subscriptions, but they [Harry and Markle] never delivered.”
Borkowski added that the clients he works with are closely watching their budgets and costs, but, given the former royals’ lifestyle, “The amount of income this pair has to raise is enormous.”
An insider with knowledge of the Netflix deal with Archewell said it is an “overhead agreement,” meaning not all the money would go to the Sussexes, but it also helps fund their staff, office and development fees.
Archewell and the Sussexes declined to comment for this story.
The former royal couple were initially a hot property. Before signing with Netflix, they also had discussions with Apple, Disney and NBCUniversal, The New York Times first reported. Meghan previously narrated a documentary about elephants for Disney+, and Harry collaborated with Oprah Winfrey on a docuseries about mental health for Apple TV+.
The “Harry & Meghan” docuseries, directed by Liz Garbus, was a legitimate hit, setting a record for the biggest debut for a Netflix documentary with a total 81.6 million hours watched on its first four days of availability, amounting to more than 28 million households watching.
The series was an intimate glimpse inside the Sussexes’ marriage and made headlines for their criticism of the British royal family for failing to support them, including allegations of racism and a narrative that the couple was essentially forced to leave England for the U.S.
But production was apparently difficult. One individual with knowledge of the series said dealing with the former royal couple was a “nightmare” as they were fiercely protective of their story.
“Harry and Meghan made the collaborative process very hard, to the point that there was no collaboration at all,” the insider said.
Other projects have not gotten off the ground.
Netflix and Markle announced “Pearl” with much fanfare in 2021. The animated series — co-executive produced by Markle and David Furnish — was to center on the adventures of a 12-year-old girl who finds inspiration in a variety of influential women throughout history. Netflix canceled it the following year while it was still in the development stage.
There have been reports Netflix bought the romantic Carley Fortune book “Meet Me at the Lake” for $1 million for the pair to produce into a movie. Other plans included a TV drama feminist retelling of Miss Havisham from Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations” and a documentary about Prince Harry traveling solo in Africa. But these all seem far from getting off the ground.
Another Archewell insider told TheWrap that “Meet Me at the Lake” was “in active development,” but has not yet been cast. And Harry’s trip to Africa has not been scheduled. Some projects will be announced in the next few months, the insider added.
“They have a couple of unscripted things they’re working on,” Netflix’s chief content officer Bela Bajaria said at the “Next on Netflix” event on Feb. 1 of Markle and Harry, including “a movie in development” and “a [scripted] series.”
Bajaria emphasized that these projects were still in “early development,” which raises the question what exactly has been going on between Archewell and Netflix? COVID struck at the start of their deal, Markle went on maternity leave and then the writers’ and actors’ strikes halted production for much of last year. But with all that, it is it is remarkable how little the couple have actually made work for the streamer.
Reps for Netflix, which has also pulled back on its TV and film expenditure during the work stoppages, declined to comment. Harry and Markle do not have guild relationships so any non-U.S. productions would not have been affected.
Markle recently announced she’s joining forces with Lemonada Media — whose tag line is “Making Life Suck 🍋 Less” — for a new podcast, and it will also rerun her “Archetypes” podcast. The company, founded in 2019 by Jessica Cordova Kramer and Stephanie Wittels Wachs, is small and is not expected to be a big pay day for Markle.
The actress is still earning residuals from “Suits,” which recently found an entirely new audience on Netflix.
Archewell turnover: Meanwhile, there has been a dramatic executive turnover at Archewell — particularly those negotiating TV, film and media deals. Mandana Dayani, a human rights activist and business executive, was the president of Archewell from May 2021 to December 2022 and stepped down just days before Harry and Markle’s docuseries aired, with no reason offered.
The company also lost its BAFTA-winning head of content Ben Browning in January 2023 after his contract expired. Browning, who worked on “Harry & Meghan” and the “Archetypes” podcast, returned to his former employer, FilmNation Entertainment as president of production.
Bennett Levine, their production manager, also left in January, as did Rebecca Sananes, Markle and Harry’s head of audio who left to work as a freelance writer and podcast producer after the “Archetypes” podcasts were concluded.
The company has also parted ways with their SVP of scripted television, “Fargo” producer Nishika Kumble, who lasted less than two years in the role.
“Meghan and Harry don’t have a quality team around them,” Borkowski said. “They drive this ship, they are in the wheelhouse. Whether you are the Obamas or Meghan and Harry, you have to defer to people who can really get the job done.
“They just need to sort out a proper production company, they need significant hires,” he added. “People who can actually develop scripts, wrangle talent.”
The Archewell insider insisted the couple has hired talented new executives. Tracy Ryerson was brought in as the new head of scripted content. She formerly worked at the production company behind “Peaky Blinders,” Caryn Mandabach Productions, and starred in a reality show titled “The Real L Word.” Former Disney+ executive Chanel Pysnik joined in 2021 as head of unscripted.
The Sussexes made a surprise appearance at the Jamaica premiere of the Bob Marley biopic “One Love” in late January, sparking speculation about a possible deal with the film’s distributor Paramount Pictures, especially given that they reportedly travelled with the company’s boss Brian Robbins — who is a neighbor in Montecito — via a Paramount private jet.
Yet parent company Paramount Global is strongly rumored to be up for sale, so it is unlikely to be a safe landing pad for the couple.
Last August it was announced that WME signed Markle to be repped by Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, Brad Slater and Jill Smoller. Archewell is also being repped by the agency, which didn’t comment to TheWrap.
“She is extremely ambitious and knows what she wants,” an industry insider told TheWrap of Markle’s discussions with the talent agency. “But there have been issues with executive turnover inside Archewell.”
In the meantime, The Sussexes need to make money to keep up their California lifestyle and their $14.65 million mansion. The U.K.’s Daily Mail reported that they made around $20 million from their tell-all documentary, while Harry made an estimated $15 million from his memoir “Spare.”
“I think possibly Netflix has dodged a bullet,” Borkowski said. “They know their content, they are data wonks, they know where the interest is. So they’ve got a very good idea or not whether there is a huge amount of excitement around Meghan and Harry.”
The viewing public may not be interested in a romantic movie from the Sussexes, he said. “They create a lot of column inches, but do people want content from them unless it is revealing something extraordinary [about themselves or the British royals]?” he said. “I don’t know how much more they can reveal.”

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pulled the plug on their $20 million podcast deal with Spotify this week, Bill Simmons, the streamer’s head of podcast innovation and monetization and CEO of The Ringer, called them “f—ing grifters” on the latest episode of his podcast.
The deal, which was struck in 2020, resulted in only one show, the one-season, Markle-hosted “Archetypes.”
“I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry’ leave Spotify negotiation, the f–ing grifters,” he told guest Joe House on Friday’s episode of “The Bill Simmons Podcast.” “I gotta get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories. F— the grifters.”
The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that Harry and Meghan would not receive the full $20 million from their payout. The two signed a deal with Netflix in 2020 to produce documentaries and series, and released their first show — a docuseries called “Harry & Meghan” — earlier this year.
Simmons, who founded sports and pop culture website The Ringer, sold it to Spotify in 2020 for $250 million. He’s in charge of several Ringer-branded podcasts at the podcast giant.

Trimax vol1: when our 'Hero Returns' and it's all fun n games til shit gets real meeting a very messy meaty moral dilemma, just what is Vash to do?!
Context: when Vash busts in guns blazing to stop a steamer siege + hostage situation between two warring factions of a city from escalating into a bloodbath. His purpose: to save lives and prevent any more deaths, fueled by his ongoing belief and sworn promise in Rem's memory to protect all those she sacrificed her life to save. Where it's smooth sailing til Vash encounters his most difficult roadblock: a grieving father who's dead-set on killing his daughter's murderer (ch6: 'Sin') A very painful but brilliant test challenging the extent of Vash's beliefs and how far he'll go to 'save.'
Tumblr media
And why does this dilemma hurt so good? Because at that moment, with a flash of recognition stopping Vash dead in his tracks, he realizes all their pain and anger, driven into the need to enact justice for the death of a family member, is exactly the same. *record scratch* Oh shit...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"This bastard killed my daughter!" vs "That monster killed Rem!" The father taking matters into his own hands, wanting to personally punish [the sinner] to avenge his daughter, parallels Vash's thoughts (Trigun vol2) towards Knives for [the sins] of killing their mother Rem! :O
Where their shared pain, urgency, and justifications to send (him) to hell--down to even the very language used (that 'animal'/'monster') are no different. Even Vash's own words 'you stubborn old fool! Just who gave you the right to decide?' (who lives or dies) ironically come back to bite him hard. That Vash instantly realizes he has no 'higher moral' grounds to speak here... There's nothing he can say or judge the man for being driven by the same feelings to pick up a gun that've kept him alive for so long! So what can he do? How can Vash possibly interfere? Cause even Wolfwood knows how often those who'd never fight will take up arms for the sake of lost loved ones. So being confronted with this situation almost mirroring his own with Knives, does it make Vash reconsider his whole life's motivations thus far? Now that he sees just what it's like from the perspective of an outsider?? Ohhh what a mess!!
The sequence of him remembering back to Rem & Knives, weighing everything that's at stake full of inner conflict and hesitation, is brilliant as he slowly lowers his gun...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cause if the weight of the killer's crimes bears any resemblance to Knives, then Vash concedes, almost dropping his head in regret and shame--cause he understands the father's difficult situation quite well! Having pointed his own gun towards Knives with the same intent before... Would stopping this man from enacting his revenge right now, invalidate all of Vash's feelings on his quest to punish Knives too?! hrgghhh....he can't do it. Even if allowing this 'exception'--this 'justified' death to happen before his eyes, clashes with his promise to Rem??
God, the sequence of Vash's expression internally warring with himself over what he should do...as the killer pathetically wails and pleads for his own life in increasing desperation, begging right in Vash's face for someone to come save him....urrrghh the pressure is SO hard, so difficult!!! ;o; Cause there's no easy 'right' answer here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What makes this dilemma hurt even more, is how Wolfwood even warned him about tough situations like this beforehand. About the necessity of making quick, cruel, pragmatic choices in timely matters of life & death. Where if someone's bound to die in the equation, and if Vash keeps on inserting himself into it without choosing to save himself, then he must be prepared to take the hard route (the darker role) of killing someone else in exchange, if anyone is to be saved or make it out of this alive at all. As to him, it's humanly impossible to save everyone, so a tough decision must be made, or wallowing in indecision helps no one.
Tumblr media
But the thing is...Vash isn't so naive or clueless (as Wolfwood thinks he is) that he needs to be lectured about matters of life & death. He knows; he's always been serious about that, saving people in his own way for longer than Wolfwood's been alive! And it's not just him recklessly jumping into the fray, fueled by only his promise to Rem without considering the repercussions of what he's doing; his resolve goes deeper than that. He personally understands the gravity of loss, so he's not about to coldly treat other people's lives so lightly like throwaway tools or equations to write off either--he's not about to let them die, so long as he can help it. But whether or not you consider this selfish of him to decide other people's right to live (with second chances) is another matter. He repeatedly chooses to get himself so involved because he knows if he stands by and does nothing at all to help then no one gets saved! He doesn't need Wolfwood to tell him that...
[So really, the crux of his moral dilemma doesn't really hinge on matters like 'killing is bad/wrong!' (as it seemed the 98 anime tried to portray here) or even on the grayer subjectivity whether the killer even deserves to live for his crimes - cause if Vash didn't agree or empathize with the father's pain (understanding his side, his choice), he'd have already shot him by now (in the shoulder or leg somewhere) to 'save' the killer, just as he warned beforehand: 'don't give me a reason to shoot you.' But since Vash realizes it's not his place to make that kind of judgement call, especially when it's too difficult to remain objective with clear 'absolutes' in cases like this when things turn complicated, he can't simply shoot anyone here either.]
So what else can he do? If he still wants to do things ~His Way~? In the end, what drives Vash to make a decision still comes down to that choice of inaction vs action (where walking away--as even Wolfwood insisted they do to save themselves from getting dragged in, is also an option), cause Vash knows that if he simply idles or gives up now without doing something in time, then no one gets saved--and THAT would betray himself the most.
Tumblr media
And so...(he can't not do Something!)
Tumblr media
(The way he already has tears in his eyes feeling ripped apart over this...)
Tumblr media
"Don't you dare judge me by your high and mighty standards! What do you know about my pain?!" .......Oh what cruel irony, because that's the other thing--Vash does know. How much it hurts. :') He may not have lost a daughter but he does understand the pain of losing a mother to the point of aiming a gun enraged at the perpetrator all the same...he's not 'judging' the father for any of that either...
So all Vash can really do here....is hold the man's gun (in silent sympathy and understanding--he's not even forcing it away! just...holding it) as he bears the brunt of the father's venting anger and punishments upon himself. Taking a violent beating in place of the killer's [sins] *gasp* how very Christ-like...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the end, the father is allowed to grieve and vent all his pain and frustrations without killing anyone--he is saved from becoming a cold-blooded killer. And Vash is saved from having to betray himself with the weight of a preventable death literally on his hands. A merciful but messy result still so full of pain unhealed on all sides, but no one died--everyone can walk away (in custody) to live another day, humbled and perhaps changed by the experience... (But who can say for sure? That's probably beyond anyone's power to know.) If anything, whatever 'faith' resonated between their shared pain, in a connection (or moment of regret? weakness? especially once the killer started begging for his own father to save him, ouch) that ultimately stayed the father's hand from pulling the trigger, Vash acknowledges it saved them both...
Tumblr media
With this result, I feel the whole thing illustrates Nightow's message from his Comickers Art Style interview:
When life and death come into the picture, the story inevitably becomes heavy. …There is a conclusion I’ve come to while constantly confronting the story. In the end, I think people hurt and take lives because they don’t know enough about each other. If they knew each other well, the weight would be significantly different. …Vash ended up being portrayed as an existence that perceives [that] from the perspective of a crawling existence. (One who lives long, directly interacting among people and feeling the existence of the other party with his skin as he continues to wander.) …In the end, I think that knowing, conveying, and connecting with each other for everyone is a power that restrains various forms of violence. The word ‘family’ in Trigun contains that meaning. And in the end, the thing that pierces the heart the most when you understand others, is pain, isn’t it?
Where that's basically what happened: Vash choosing to intervene and connect (in understanding) through that human level of pain...ultimately restrained the killing blow. :') Even the Doc's relevant comment this chapter about how far Vash is willing to go, and get himself hurt, for the sake of saving those he considers 'family' (beyond blood)...I feel that means, if Vash could closely relate and see the father as fellow 'kin' through their shared pain...he went that far intent to save the father (rather than the life of the killer) from committing another terrible sin they'd both regret...it all feels connected to what Nightow wanted to convey...
I also wonder how much of this experience, connecting and empathizing with the father's situation here, affected Vash's future encounters with Knives, on whether he restrains the killing blow towards him the next time they meet as well.
And while I think Vash choosing the martyr approach to literally bear all the pain (and sins of humanity) directly on his skin wouldn't be sustainable if he were a regular human who'd probably be long dead by now--so the fact that he's not, makes a huge difference towards how long he can effectively keep this up. As his way becomes exceedingly difficult to sustain in the long run (so there's truth in Wolfwood's perspective as a human, knowing Vash's way to save can't always hope to work out--eventually somebody will have to die.)
But in the end, Wolfwood (who still thinks Vash naively looks at the world thru rose-colored glasses) cautioning him about needing to commit towards that hard choice (about killing somebody) one day, rings with the most foreboding feeling ever...(with as much 'subtle' foreshadowing as the panel of Wolfwood standing across from an open coffin this volume...Nightow please...)

How David Bowie traveled the entire USSR in a compartment of an ordinary train.
Tumblr media
During his more than half a century-long career, British rock musician David Bowie toured almost the whole world, and almost everywhere he was greeted by crowds of fans mad with delight, and concerts were held only at the best urban venues.
One of such inhospitable countries for foreign artists was the Soviet Union, where Bowie's songs were simply banned. Therefore, when rumors appeared in the press that David Bowie had secretly visited the Soviet Union in the early 70s, all public attention turned to this extremely curious story.
Tumblr media
It later became known that the trip was not such a secret, because along with Bowie, the USSR was also crossed by journalist Robert Musel, who later wrote an article about the musician's journey, friend and colleague of the singer Jeff McCormack, who published an entire book about the artist, and photographer Lee Childers, who recorded all the details of the trip.
Tumblr media
David Bowie and Jeff McCormack in the dining car
In April 1973, when David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust Tour, dedicated to the promotion of two albums by the artist ("The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" and "Aladdin Sane"), was already coming to its logical conclusion, the entire David Bowie team was counting on a short vacation, because The next concert in London was scheduled for mid-May only. In general, it is an ideal situation to stay at home and relax for a while. However, Bowie had completely different plans in this regard...
Tumblr media
David Bowie during the "Ziggy Stardust Tour"
. . . And all because in the distant 70s, David Bowie suffered from terrible aerophobia, the cause of which was a very nervous flight from Cyprus during a storm for the performer. Looking ahead, I note that over time Bowie still managed to overcome his fear of flying, but until then he tried to move between concert venues using land or water transport. And this, as you know, required much more time than flying by plane.
In general, David Bowie planned to spend all his free time on the road before the concert in London. At first, the artist and his team had to travel for two days on the ship Felix Dzerzhinsky, en route from Yokohama to Nakhodka. Most of the passengers on board were ordinary tourists, but this did not bother the rock musicians in any way: they drank and had fun all the way, and Bowie even played an unplanned acoustic set, performing his main hits.
Tumblr media
The audience of this spontaneous concert liked the version of the song "Amsterdam" the most Jacques Brel, which was performed by the artist. On the stage after the concert, Bowie talked with the Russian sailors for several more hours, telling them about Western culture.
When the steamer finally arrived at the port of Nakhodka, all passengers, including musicians, were escorted to the train, which Bowie liked very much - a big and, unfortunately, forced fan of railway travel
Tumblr media
At the same time, all foreign tourists were given a book "On Scientific Communism" by Marx, Engels and Lenin, as well as memos explaining what can and cannot be photographed in the USSR. However, the funniest "gift", according to the musicians, was a brochure in which the authors stated their point of view that the animated series "Tom and Jerry" contributes to the mental degradation of children.
Tumblr media
The train that the musicians boarded took them only to Khabarovsk in three days, where foreign guests had to switch to a much more modest Trans-Siberian Express - the most ordinary train, similar to thousands of other trains that still run between Russian regions.
Tumblr media
In addition, the "ordinariness" of this train was also in the contingent traveling in it, consisting of ordinary Soviet citizens, for whom David Bowie seemed like some kind of alien. It is understandable: the actor had red hair, he was dressed in bright outerwear - shiny T-shirts, wide trousers, caps and platform shoes, and on the train he even wore a kimono.
The journey from Khabarovsk to Moscow lasted six days, during which David Bowie and his team not only listened to the unflattering statements of the Soviet middle class, but also did more pleasant things - they communicated with the guides and even sang their songs to them, for which, in addition to ovations, they received additional portions of tea and products that the guides They bought it during stops.
The musicians looked out the window for a long time and thought a lot. Bowie, for example, was very struck by the poverty of the Soviet people, and he could not understand how they survived the harsh Siberian winters in wooden houses. He was also surprised by Soviet women who, regardless of age, performed hard physical work. And, of course, the musician admired nature, because in addition to picturesque landscapes, he often saw wild animals from the train window.
Tumblr media
The Trans-Siberian Express arrived in Moscow on April 30, and Bowie and his team spent three days in the capital. Of course, they went to Red Square and looked into GUM, but Bowie didn't like it there. He noted that they did not even manage to have a delicious lunch in GUM. Well, on May 1, the musicians witnessed a large-scale festive parade, which they watched from the windows of the Intourist hotel on Tverskaya Street (now The Ritz-Carlton is located there).
Bowie was frankly amazed not only by the size of the crowd, but also by the fact that each participant in the parade was holding a red flag and singing patriotic songs. This sight remained in the musician's memory for a long time and became his last great impression from a long journey through the Soviet Union. The next day, the musicians boarded a train and, passing Warsaw, Berlin and Paris, headed for London.
After this trip, David Bowie came to the USSR (Russia) twice more. In 1976, together with Iggy Pop, on the birthday of the latter, they decided to fly from Zurich to Moscow in between shows, and celebrate the holiday there.
But, this is the next story.... to be continued...
