I remember YEARS ago I read this post from someone who was upset at the end of the 90s Sailor Moon anime because Usagi forgives/heals Galaxia, and in their words "teaching people to forgive their enemies is dangerous, especially now that Trump has been elected."

Bonus Talk: Storycrafting for Noir and Apologies

So, I keep thinking how funny it is how this whole thing started. I had a chain of ideas at dinner one night: "What if the Master Crown really WAS trying to transform Magolor into Dark Matter? Would he be 'Dark Matter Wizard?' But then, what was Swordsman before he was Swordsman? Hmm. There is that one piece of human concept art he has... and you know...maybe it's the retro anime look or the fact that this series doesn't have hardly any humans in it but he looks just enough like Adeleine that one could think they're related-..."

Back then, "Noir" didn't really exist. I just drew up a quick sketch in Adeleine's notebook that I hope looked recognizably like the human DM concept art. He wasn't in color but given Dark Matter's palette, he probably would have had dark hair, and poring through the wiki - I found at least one Dark Matter incarnation with a purple eye. I also had Ado drop a line that her brother was "bad at making friends" because of that one JP guide and that was IT.

But then... I thought it was sad to draw this poor guy only to kill him off in the backstory without even fleshing out what he looked like (and I was afraid Adeleine's pencil sketch made him look blond XD) so I drew up a quick color pic of him, rendering Swordsman's gear as a normal scarf and coat. Before thecrashman said anything, I hadn't even considered the two of them as living on Shiver Star!

As soon as he said that though, everything started to come together...Now DMS was an overprotective brother taking care of his little sister in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Of course he was. No wonder he couldn't bond with anyone. He was straining under the weight of his responsibilities. He's older. He's supposed to be the protector, so he could never bring himself to tell his kid sister about the things he was going through. He focused on her joy to his own exclusion. A destructive pattern. A fatal flaw for this tragedy.

Twitter readers asked after the first comic how Adeleine's brother even became Dark Matter Swordsman, some suggesting perhaps it was because he died in battle against Zero? I thought a big human-led global effort against Zero and Dark Matter seemed too complicated in scope, so my solution was to go back to where this idea started: he would be the same as Magolor - looped in by a bad ancient artifact that parasitized him before he knew what was happening. Only he doesn't have a Kirby to save him...

At this point, I had to give him a name. I wanted something French-sounding, so he sounded good alongside Adeleine, and remembering the origin of Adeleine's name, I thought to choose something in FL-ese. I combed the lyrics of "Welcome to the New World" back and forth in both English and Japanese. (I was lucky as the song is sung as a one-to-one Japanese audio cypher and I speak Japanese.)

It wasn't easy though. I wanted a "strong" word but almost everything in there was about food or naps. XD I finally found a phrase in the Japanese lyrics, "邪魔できない"/"unable to be interrupted"/"unstoppable" and matched it to FL-ese.

Noruruwa. Sounds kinda like "Noir." And with Dark Matter being "Matiere Noire" in French, well, it seemed all too perfect...!

The rest all flowed pretty naturally from there. If our setting is Shiver Star and Shiver Star exists at the same time as the New World, and it resembles our Earth's globe while the New World doesn't, perhaps Shiver is an "abandoned earth"? One with an angry, betrayed populace and two kids doomed by birth to die a cold, miserable death in a place utterly neglected by the rest of humanity.

Now "Noir" had a good reason to seek out the power that would be his undoing. While I'm at it, why not tell the story of how Adeleine gets her brush? That's magical(?) too. It's no Drawcia's Paintbrush, but neither is Dark Matter Blade equal to Galaxia. So now, we've got the idea for "off-brand artifacts" - found in an abandoned exhibit, perhaps? Maybe Noir wants to get Adeleine a present? He grabs the sword on the way out without even thinking because...it's a dangerous world out and he's got a young sibling to look after.

(Although, similar to the Master Crown, it's hard to say whether it was originally entirely his choice to pick it up...or the sword's.)

But wait, why do the artifacts do the bad things they do? Now that I'd introduced the New World into this story, I had Fecto Elfilis/ID-F86 on the table. The concept that the Shiver Starians were sooo angry at the New Worlders when for all we knew, the New Worlders weren't even ALIVE anymore made me think, "Do we really expect powerful, angry psychic Elfilis was passive that entire time? While they were being tortured? What if...they sabotaged everything?"

I'd already speculated that Elfilis and Void are two of a pair, and you can trace their offshots throughout the entirety of Kirby lore. (If you buy into my Galactic Nova is based on Fecto Elfilis theory.) And seriously, at least half those artifacts have led to serious tragedy. Now, we had a reason for Noir to be doomed by the narrative.

I do HC that everyone who has ever had their soul consumed by an Ancient Artifact had some red in their ledger - and so, I conceived of some for Noir. I didn't and don't ever want to write/draw a "humans are a disease" story, which is why 99~100% of anything "bad" implied to be going on in their lives on Shiver Star is entirely background. That was purposeful for several reasons. One was simply to demonstrate the degrees to which Noir was protecting Adeleine. He would build up more stress and more pain and more trauma while she remains the same throughout. Two is I just didn't want to go into detail about what wretched scenario would force Noir to take another person's life, but it is still a part of his character history.

(I write Kirby fan comics after all! I try to stay within the bounds of what I consider acceptable content to show. Best I can ^^; )

Noir was also just pushed to the brink, despairing in his life and the world around him. He wanted more than anything to escape this life. Of course, Artifacts have this funny way of twisting your wishes in the WORST way. (Screams of joy > screams of pain.) So Noir's artifact transforms itself into a collar he can't remove, with an unspoken time limit to do anything his newfound power could do for him - at the end of which, his body and soul become forfeit to the darkness. Now he has lost all escape routes. Even death only delivers him to a fate of serving Zero, robbed of independent thought and choice and memories of the one bright thing in his life.

Adeleine...

Adeleine still needed to escape though. She has to get to Popstar. This was the most complicated part for me to logic out. In the end, I went with the simplest, quickest, and most brutal method of getting that done. Quietly imply that Noir, resigned to his fate, killed as many people as it took to secure Adeleine safe passage off the planet and then lied to her about everything with a gentle smile.

Perhaps it's because the Dark Matter Blade has affected his mind and dulled any emotional responses the normally gentle (if sharp-tongued) Noir would have to harming people (as again, artifacts tend to twist people in the worst possible ways; Noir is verbally abrasive but his nature is defensive. Now he has only violence to rely on to get his wish) but I also think the look of calmness on his face throughout "Brightest Star", in spite of the blood on his hands, is because he's just honestly happy - relieved, for once in his life - to have at least saved Adeleine. He was already consigned to hell, doomed from a simple mistake born from the desire to do good; to protect. (*) But Adeleine doesn't have to carry either his mistakes or his sins.

His was a character who took everyone onto himself. And he succeeded at that. His and Adeleine's past and their traumas will be buried underneath the unending snowfall of Shiver Star...

...Adeleine departs and Noir dies, his human body dissolved into Dark Matter, rising up into the aether right as the first flakes of snow began their long task of erasing all that has happened...

(*) I consider Dark Matter Swordsman be in a very small group with Joronia and Max Haltmann as the only sympathetic characters to be permanently dead In Kirby canon. Which is another reason why I crafted Noir's story explicitly to resemble theirs. We had a pair of (potential) lovers whose story ends in tragedy and a father and daughter tragedy but no siblings whose story has ended tragically. By fanon, that's arguably Swordsman and Gooey, but that just made him more fit to be this story's tragic brother figure...

In which case, Noir basically HAD to be someone who had a simple wish (to keep his only family safe) ran afoul of an ancient artifact almost by accident in the midst of trying to do good and suffers an inevitable, horrifying physical and mental transformation that would end with his only option for salvation to be put out of his misery...

Chiro would feel very connected to Meta Knight and Dark Meta Knight for that matter since they are siblings in a way and he wields the Galaxia, however Meta Knight would feel very much uncomfortable around them and they would sense that, ultimately avoiding him. Gooey on the other hand... oh, they would adore Gooey! Best friends forever on sight! No questions asked. I can also see them get along with Adeleine, Ribbon and the animal friends! They'd want to befriend Magolor since he is the same species as Melem, but be too afraid of his companion Marx to approach.

Chiro would remember Marx from the ancient days and avoid him like the plague. There is no trusting the jester and even a little bat shaped dark matter baby knows that.

Remember that post of Kirby game meets anime ideas? Well here comes the sequel!!! Ideas for Anime x Game Kirby crossovers 2!

1-the history is how grand doomer goes to the anime dimension after he’s defeat on Magolor’s hands in “Magolor’s epilogue”, and ends up trying to chase down Magolor when he jumps into the portal to the clash universe but since he’s too weak he falls unconscious mid travel and ends up in the anime dimension, he finds how this universe despise lacking strong sources of energy they still have artifacts strong Enough to give him power, specially from nightmare enterprises leftovers which he uses to power hes doomer army, he quickly goes to dreamland to get revenge on Kirby now that he has he’s power and army once again he goes on a full on attack on pop star. He absorbs Galaxia meanwhile the Doomers shatter the warp star to absorb its power, kirby tries to stop Grand doomer but the villain sends the puffball,tiff,tuff,meta knight,king dedede and escargoon into “another dimension” in which they are aided by not only the elemental bosses (Electriky Dooter, Fiery puffer and Hydriat) which now don’t work for grand doomer since he has lost the power of the master crown, but they also meet the parallels (Susie,meta knight,dedede,kracko,Landia and wispy) and now the heroes (and anime!dedede) aided by the three elemental monster have to collect the fragments of the apple which are being held hostage by the parallels (which are on a war for “another dimension” since the doomers left to conquer the anime dimension) and unlock their own elemental powers (tiff & tuff:fire/rock, meta knight:Ice/water and Dedede & Escargoon:thunder/air meanwhile Kirby learns to handle the super ability’s) after they get the apples they go back to dreamland and see how grand doomer has basically destroyed the entire place and turned dedede’s castle into he’s floating nest meanwhile the GSA has basically been running from the beings beyond their retconing, however now our heroes defeat all the Doomers and fix the Warp Star so they can get into dededes castle and Kirby can defeat Grand doomer once again. Now Kirby has learned to fight for himself, meta knight learns there’s much to learn from the universe, tiff and tuff now have magic and so does dedede and Escargoon which will try harder than ever to be a annoyance to Kirby even without nightmare

2-starts with galacta knight which was defeated by yet another Kirby and another meta knight of the multiverse, so he’s banished to yet another universe but this time he finds himself on the middle of a battle field with no pink puffball or blue knight anywhere. He sees knuckle joe being attacked by a bunch of monsters (including masher 2) and he easily kills the demon beasts with a single attack, he prepares to fight knuckle joe but the kid instead thanks him calls him star warrior, galacta knight is confused by this and sees how other knights appear, he prepares to fight but they call him “partner” which confuses him even more, galacta hasn’t been treated has a ally since he and he’s partners sealed void termina, he decides to tag along and sees he’s in a war once again and to the same guy he killed a week ago (a week for him since time stopped existing for him since dimensional travel also involves some time travel), the leaders of the GSA (whoever you use, Arthur or anyone else) then discover galacta isn’t a registered member and interrogate him, galacta think they are going to attack him so he prepares to kill then all but they instead offer him to join for he’s massive power, he accepts. Galacta quickly becomes a very beloved and well known warrior, he’s usually followed by knuckle joe which speaks to him while galacta constant duels with other Star warriors, everything is normal till joe mentions Kirby and meta knight, galacta quickly asks where is pop star and then he goes to beat the ever living Stars of the two. Meta knight is confused by who is this and why he’s attacking them but realizes this Kirby and meta knight are weak and can’t even face a 1% of he’s power like the other meta knights and Kirby’s, he decides to train Kirby to unlock the power he remembers, galacta quickly shows he’s not good at talking, or teaching or interacting which makes him have a bad relationship with everyone but Kirby which treats him like any Kirby would (with hugs and friendship) and knuckle joe (who constantly visits him) has time goes Galacta starts liking more this life still thinking he can get he’s old life style before he was betrayed, but this dream suddenly crashes when the GSA members are ordered to arrest him, he goes on a rampage thinking he was betrayed once again but kirby and knuckle joe get hurt making galacta even more furious and miserable, he flies to the edge of the galaxy and has nightmare enterprises attacks dreamland like in “fright to the finish” knuckle joe and Kirby decide to go for Galacta knight meanwhile Meta and the rest try to attack nightmare with the rest of the GSA but they are bombarded by A FAKE galacta knight which framed the real knight. Kirby and knuckle joe get to galacta which try’s to push them away using a small fraction of he’s power but the kids tell him despite everything they think he’s innocent and beg for he’s help, galacta decides to help and the three go to save the gang. Galacta sees he’s copy and has a small fight since he really wanted one but stops playing once he sees the kids are getting near nightmare, Galacta turns into Aeon hero Light and one shots he’s doppelgänger and goes to save the kids, tiff tells galacta he can’t kill eNeMe since he’s connected to Kirby’s dreams and they don’t know what will happen if nightmare dies while connected to kirby, so galacta rages because of this which causes a hole in the fabric of reality, kirby quickly defeats eNeMe on he’s dreams and wakes up which allowed Galacta to destroy nightmare with all of he’s power which let yet another hole in the fabric of reality, all of them escape while Galacta now with he’s name cleaned is treated has a hero once again, the story ends with him sleeping on a hill on dreamland with Kirby while several butterfly rest on them as well

3-Kirby is fighting a monster able to create portals which makes Kirby gets the Spark ability, the two fight but Kirby accidentally makes the monsters powers go south turning one of the portals into a kind of vacuum which absorbs tiff and tuff. The two end up in Halcandra, Tiff and tuff walk around trying to find anyone who could help them but tuff accidentally gets trapped into the main factory, Tiff goes to save him has the robots and various other hazards try to kill them, they survive and run into a elevator which brings them to the boss of the place “metal general” which isn’t holding he’s punches with this two and before the kids are killed by the robot, landia appears and calms the general telling them they are kids, the robot after noticing this goes back to sleep, tuff is amazed by the cool dragon while tuff is scared of the giant dragon, however landia is very kind has they separate in four and two of them invite tiff and tuff to ride them, the kids get on the dragons and fly to the top of Dangerous Dinner. Tuff talks about how cool this all is meanwhile Tiff is scared about this place, soon they arrive to landias lair, Tiff and Tuff rest for a bit while tiff try’s to talk with the dragon which seems to ignore her, the next morning they are guided to a star shaped portal which goes to popstar (results landia was hearing but just wanted to have some company that night), the kids and the dragon jump into the portal, the kids are now amazed by this fantastic place which seems so familiar yet so different, like a dream! They arrive to magolorland and are weird out by the several demon beasts acting like normal people, a younger looking wispy, a genie, a monkey, a puffer fish and a giant ship all around the park while thousands of waddle dees and other habitants of dreamland the kids have never seen wear masks of many strangers and some familiar faces, landia asks Magolor to call Kirby meanwhile the kids play the games with the other habitants of dreamland. When Kirby and the rest arrive there’s a small shock by the Friendly dedede,the waddle dee with a bandana on escargoon a place, meta knight wings and Kirby not knowing them (or actually everyone) Magolor and meta knight quickly figure out what’s happening and help the kids go back to their dimension, but not before one last game through all of Magolor land, Has they return to their dreamland they are welcomed by a kirby and parents that are almost in tears, a dedede with a black eye (Kirby’s doing) and a very surprised meta knight (not because they lived but for the giant flying ship and the dragon) after a small presentation of their alternates the heroes of dreamland, the dimensional magician and the ex-guardian of the master crown retire back to their world meanwhile the kids tell their parents about their adventure (note landia doesn’t talk but Magolor and Metal general can just speak dragon-ish)

ACTUALLY I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THIS IS GOING!!

I've seen glimpses of the final arcs conclusion. And from that IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE WHAT HAPPENS IN THE MANGA. I mean since when has this anime ever gone the same way as the source material? But like- they've spent so much time "developing" the senshi and Starlight relationships that they haven't been leading anywhere near a conclusion. I actually doubt the galaxy couldron exists. I don't even think Chibiusa will return-

THEY SCREWED OVER MY FAVORITE ARC SO MUCH BY LEAVING LITERALLY EVERY KEY PLOT POINT OUT THAT THEY EVEN MORE THOUROUGHLY SCREWED OVER THE FINALE ARC.

Oh my God. Guys Naoko Takeuchi set up EVERYTHING for Stars in Dream!!! They PERFECTLY lead into each other!!!

Dream: The introduction of the Golden Crystal as MAMORU'S CRYSTAL and the intro of Sailor Crystals -> Stars: Galaxia witnesses the power that the Silver and Golden crystals have. She goes after Sailor Crystals and uses them to lure Sailor Moon and destroy Chaos.

Dream: Phobos and Deimos have human forms and serve princess Mars. Luna and Artemis are from planet Mau and gain human forms -> Stars: Lead Crow and Nyan(whatever) who are from the same planets are given Sailor Senshi powers

Dream: The amazoness quartet are revealed to be Sailor Chibi Moon's future gaurdian deities -> Stars: they assist Usagi and Chibiusa in the fight against Galaxia

Dream: The final scene depicts Usagi telling Mamoru that everyone has a star in their heart and the last page she asks for the star in her heart to keep shining brightly and lend her strength. -> Stars: The arc is literally called Stars and the Sailor Gaurdians are revealed to be born as Stars from the Galaxy couldron.

verses.

golden dreams. golden kingdom. set in the golden kingdom. a high-fantasy drama where i run wild with my headcanons. zoisite is madly in love with kunzite but is repressing it.

in the dark of the night. dark kingdom. 90s anime timeline.

the moonlight carries the mesasge of love. revival. after galaxia has been dealt with and metallia has been quelled, the reborn shitennou finally awake to their true power - their curses finally broken. marion, the reborn zoisite, makes his way from russia to japan and there - has to figure out how to make amends to the price he twice betrayed, and the guardians he tried to kill.

fragmentary abyss. honkai. one of diamond's four 'assistants', known for both his beauty and exceptional ruthlessness. zoisite has only ever known life in the ipc, and while he bears a stone name (and stone fragments) he is not considered to be a stoneheart.

all four of diamond's assistants are vidyadhara... though were may be the better tense. while all four were once high elders this is a title they can no longer hold. and the vidyadhara do not claim them as kin.

you see, these four were thought lost after the vidyadhara had to flee their homeland. their pearls were shattered, though it is difficult to know if this shattering occurred upon their deaths or if they were stolen and shattered in the attempt. there is no one left alive who can tell the true tale, and the men themselves hold but vague concepts of who and what they once were.

in time these fragments appeared on the black market, before finally falling into the hands of the IPC. they were pieced back together using fragments of cornerstones. they are not recognized by the vidyadhara as the same beings they once were and are viewed as abominations - the breathing equivalent of zombies. though they have access to many of the abilities now lost (shapeshifting, full dragon transformation, mastery of elements) they are unable to use cloud hymn magic and it is unknown if their mangled pearls will allow them to revive should they die again.

the sun goes out. genshin. in a past life, "zoisite" was the szhneznaya god dazhbog, who was said to rule over fire and the sun. dazhbog took many forms - a black tortise, a fire-breathing horse, a beautiful man and an equally beautiful woman. all imagery associated with this god has been lost to time, save for the descendants of his most devoted and the entities long-lived enough to remember his quick wit and sharp smile.

during the archon war, dazhbog aided the cryo archon and gained a new dominion - war. the god was known as a fierce combatant, unrelenting and unwilling to call defeat. he achieved victory at any cost - and, as he would go on to tell others, that cost was very nearly his soul itself. when the dust settled his kingdom was decimated, and he had lost the will to rule as a god after witnessing the cruelty that his kind inflicted upon their own. dazhbog left this homeland and ventured to khanri'ah with his three closest friends, believing that the time of gods was done and it was time to entrust the future of the world to mankind. the four of them took human form and worked as guardians to the royal family. they served as loyal guardians to the kingdom.

which... ultimately proved to be their downfall.

dazhbog became infected with forbidden knowledge. there was still enough of him to save, though what survived was but a fragment. dazhbog and his fellow gods faded from existence, 'reborn' centuries later as ostensibly human children. he was found abandoned at the foot of a the rubble of a long forgotten god, and was raised by handlers to be an assassin.

each reincarnated guardian bears the scars of what they had witnessed that day - for dazhbog, renamed zoisite, this manifested in his left eye. no longer did it bare the star-shaped pupils of his chosen human guise, it now looked like a nova. multiple pupils all within one gaze, the mark of one who had glimpsed truth not meant to be known.

zoisite was raised within the fatui, and due to his great talent and thirst for knwoledge, was sent on a mission as a spy (how active he is depends largely on who he's threading with) to sumeru where has been living since he was about thirteen. he's a scholar in spantamad as is well on his way to becoming sage.

he has a unique talent for magic, allowing him to use all elements offensively. it's rumored that his distorted eye (which he claims to be blind in, opting to cover it with his hair) grants him sight beyond sight. in truth, his abilities allow him to tug at the fabric of the reality.

a question of duty .final fantasy vii. a member of the turks, "zoisite" joined shinra with the intentions of becoming a SOLDIER as all young boys do. when this fell through, the young man was instead recruited by the turks.

hailing from cosmo canyon, zoisite has a surprising connection to the earth - if you trace his lineage back far enough, you'll find cetra. but not nearly enough to hear the planet's call. even if he could, the young man's thirst for power dwarfs his sense of duty to it.

These two are a little harder to instill HC's on because there's generally more information on them, but I have a little bit!

Sword and Blade had been friends for as long as either can remember, and although they aren't actually related, they see each other as close brothers. Both of them would die to defend the other.

When they met Meta Knight, they weren't really aware of the intergalactic war, just that their home had been destroyed. They learned after that Meta Knight was a Star Warrior. They felt the need to repay him for saving their lives, even when he initially refused. After leaning about the war, they had no issue with fighting against the one who had destroyed their home to begin with, alongside the one who had just saved them from one of that guy's monsters.

They were a bit off put by Meta Knight at first, and even after they had known him for years, they didn't know much about him personally. They became close friends, and he finally let them in on some things, such as friends he lost in the war, but would leave out details. They became very quickly aware from there that this was an incredibly personal fight for him.

After arriving on Dreamland, they had already known most of the basics surrounding his history in the army, granted, he hasn't told them where he grew up or how he ended up involved. They didn't question it, since they were both aware it was a sensitive topic. They helped with the Halberd and keeping it a secret, sometimes staying up a few nights at a time.

They worry about Meta Knight's health, and will occasionally bother him to get rest when he's hurt, but they won't do much. They care, but they have a high amount of respect for him. Although if it's bad enough, they won't hesitate at all to force him to rest. They know he's blind but not that he ever even had wings, but they know about Galaxia and don't know what to think. On one hand, she's a talking sword, on the other, Meta Knight had told them that contacting her would result in then being electrocuted. That was the first thing he told them about her. Lovely introduction.

They appreciate Tiff and Tiff's concern for Meta Knight, but are off put but Tiff's questioning habit. She doesn't like not knowing things and they're painfully aware of that, so they try to keep Meta Knight's bad habits and injuries a secret, from her especially. They've saved Meta Knight from an interrogation or two. They both find Kirby and the Waddle Dees enjoyable to be around, and enjoy socializing in cappy town when they get the chance.

They also know by now that Meta's an awkward burrito man, although they'd never dare say it to him.

@its-decido asked so I shall deliver. Here are all of my gender and sexuality headcannons for Sailor Moon.

For reference I ship Michiru x Haruka, Rei x Minako, Inners poly pile, Ami x Makoto, Mamoru x Usagi x Seiya, Kunzite x Jadeite, Chibiusa x Hotaru, and Princess Kakyuu x Reformed Galaxia. The only ships I have strong feelings against is anything that breaks up harumichi and anything involving Prince Demande bcuz he sucks ass and doesn’t deserve love.

Usagi is bi with a preference for her precious Mamo-chan. She/her, potentially some cutesy neo-pronouns.

As the goddess of love it only makes sense for Minako to be pansexual. She/her.

I think Ami would be demiromantic and demisexual. Not really sure of she’d like multiple genders or just girls. She/her, but might try out she/they at some point.

Makoto is bi. She crushes on everything that breathes within a ten mile radius of her. Preference for guys and more masculine girls. She/her, I think trans girl Mako headcannons are super cute.

Rei is the man hating lesbian straight men fear. In the manga, she makes it clear that she hardly tolerates the existence of men, so I doubt she would date one. The 90s anime always felt really weird, so I’m calling it internalized homophobia (she went to Catholic school after all). She/her or maybe she/they, purely out of spite for this world.

Chibiusa, much like her mother, is bi and in love with everyone. Even horse boy gets a kiss. She and Hotaru are canonically the same age when she is reborn. It’s not problematic, you just don’t like it. Which is fine, but chill out a little. She/bunself, it’s the 30th century, her using neo pronouns is entirely realistic.

Michiru is literally the biggest lesbian to ever lesbian. I get vibes like she has mommy AND daddy issues. There’s no such thing as a mentally well artist after all. She/her.

I can see Haruka as being non-binary or a cis woman. Lesbian, potentially bisexual (NOT biromantic), with a heavy preference for ladies. Anime Haruka absolutely has some kind of religious trauma. All she talks about is going to hell for her sins. She/they (maybe ze/zir).

I stand by Setsuna being aroace. The Endymion thing felt like filler, and all she ever talked about was his lavender jacket. Next season, her only outfit is a lavender jacket (I distinctly remember her wearing a lavender tee shirt in Crystal as well). She’s even stated to be an aspiring fashion designer. Clearly she was just jealous of his suit. She/they/it, because as an eternal being this gender shit is probably pretty pointless to her.

Hotaru is some form of gay. Lesbian, bi, pan, no idea. All I know is she has a massive crush on Chibiusa. She/it, she probably has some crazy depersonalization going on with Mistress 9 and the cyborg stuff.

Seiya, Seiya, Seiya. I get heavy trans masc vibes from them, but Naoko did say all sailor senshi were women, so I’m going with the in-between of non-binary and/or genderfluid. As for sexuality, I’m just going to leave it as sapphic. She/he/they/ze. Do they even have gender/pronouns on Kinmoku?

I refuse to see Yaten as anything other than a aroace girly girl. Yaten forever chooses sleep over sex . She/her.

Taiki confuses and upsets me to no end. The hair makes it so unbelievably painful to think about them that I leave my thoughts at pansexual they/them.

Kakyuu is bi, and all loving like Usagi, our other princess. She/her.

Manga Mamoru is the token straight friend. Anime Mamoru is bi purely because of the Fiore arc. He/him.

aughghuhg sorry i've disappeared again i don't have art to make up for it so have some headcanons (mostly worldbuilding/mechanics-based as opposed to character- or relationships-based, with some exceptions)

• Dark Mind is actually both of the mirror versions of characters people often theorize them to be - mirror-Zero and mirror-Nightmare. This is because mirror-Nightmare got a lil too cocky and tried to drive a hard bargain to the mirror dimension's resident Dark Matter(s) and ended up getting himself possessed.

• Speaking of mirror-world Dark Matter; the distinction between the "Shadow-" and "Dark-" epithets for the various mirrorworld characters comes from whether or not any given character sided with the mirror dimension's Dark Matter invaders. The invasion only happened after mirror-Nightmare caught the Dark Matters' attention by trying to deal with them. So, Shadow Kirby & Shadow Dedede actively opposed the encroachment of Dark Matter or didn't otherwise get involved, but DMK & Dark Taranza both sided with the invaders in exchange for not being forcibly possessed or assimilated.

• Galaxia is sentient and can speak to its wielder (+ others within a certain radius) via telepathy. She can also do that sacred lightning/fiery thing it did in the anime that one time if she disapproves of whoever's trying to wield her. It's excruciatingly painful, and a major reason as to why successful wielders only come about every couple of centuries, if that.

• Galaxia used to be a person, existing prior to the rise of Halcandra. The method by which her consciousness was forged into the sword upon her death has been lost to the eons, similar to how people irl forgot how to make Damascus steel.

• Halcandrans (Magolor's species) and other native creatures of Another Dimension (namely the Doomers) subsist primarily off of pure magical energy. Gem Apples, whose crystalline structure is great at storing magical energy for long periods of time, were a staple crop during the Halcandran civilization's long reign. Pretty much every other form of life is unable to eat those things, except for Kirby. he's really good at eating things he shouldn't.

• Dark Matter and Heart Matter are diametrically opposed, as they possess negative and positive charges, respectively. This means that creatures of Heart Matter (puffballs) are actually immune to Dark Matter possession! instead, they'd probably just die, if the Dark Matter's influence is enough to cancel their positive energy out. which is. probably worse actually

• i think Galaxia's mirror equivalent (aka DMK's sword) should be called Andromeda, since it's got the same number of syllables and it rhymes and it's also the next-closest galaxy to our own,,, it's not sentient like Galaxia is, but it does have some dimension-y duplicatory powers that she doesn't, so it sorta evens out

• Morpho Knight is not the same species as the rest of the knights. even referring to it as belonging to a species at all is a bit of a stretch, really.

• Galactic Nova has a soul, to a degree. Star Dream/the Mother Computer did not. The Soul-OS fought in robobot is only possible due to its prior assimilation of Haltmann's soul. not that that fight is canon or anything, but still.

• i don't CARE what the encyclopedia says Ado and Adeleine are the SAME PERSON and i WILL die on this hill

• Dedede actually named Kirby, albeit unintentionally! sometime around the original Kirby's Dreamland game, he wanted to put a name to the pesky little thing so he could more easily hate on it. Asking its name only yielded him some toddler-gibberish, since Kirby was still extremely young at the time. Dedede latched onto whatever little bit of that gibberish sounded most like an actual name and ended up with "Kirby", so that's what he called them, and it stuck! Neither of them really remember this little name-origin fun fact in the modern day, though, but at least they're on friendly terms now!

• The civilization referred to by the modern cast as "The Ancients" was indeed made up primarily of Halcandrans, and built societally off of their pre-existing cultural framework. However, Ancient-membership was far from exclusive to the species! Tons of other sapient life forms were in the mix, too; among them being puffballs, waddle dees (Halcandran form seen in rtdl), and even humans!

• Circling back to mirror things, Shadow Dedede is straight-up dededead. Since he wouldn't willingly go along with mirrorworld Dark Matter's plans, he was possessed and made into a puppet of their every whim. He's been possessed continuously since that point, and is essentially a husk of a person by the time he's (non-canonically) seen in triple deluxe. Even if Dark Matter were to be magically purged from him, he'd be dead on the spot; he's been dead for a long time, in that sense. Other characters I've decided are permadead based on literally nothing include Sailor Dee and Dark Matter Swordsman. also Drawcia but im pretty sure that's canon, so.

• MK first obtained Galaxia by stealing it. DMK recieved Andromeda as a "gift" from Dark Mind following his pledge of fealty and absolute obedience.

• Magolor has a Doomer mouth. like one a them cartoon dinosaurs with the sharp n pointy chompers

• Landia as we know them only came about as four individual dragons who merged as one in order to brace themselves against the manipulation of the Master Crown, not the other way around.

• None of the Soul boss fights are canon, with the possible singular exception of Marx Soul (although this hc is subject to change)

• Meta Knight has some of his (widely theorized, basically fanon) backstory from the anime sprinkled in here and there. the most major inclusion is definitely Nightmare's influence.

• There was never a "princess" Sectonia. Upon being corrupted by the mirror (and probably Dark Taranza, more specifically), she violently conquered the Floralian isles and wrenched control away from the native People of the Sky, aka the flower fairies. She declared herself to be Queen throughout her conquest, but was finally able to truly embody that title once the natives had been wholly and tyrannically subjugated. Taranza was complicit throughout these events, even though he really didn't want to be. Whatever made Sectonia happy made him happy, after all.

• Relatedly, Sectonia & Taranza aren't an indigenous species in Floralia. They both arrived there after having been essentially kicked out of their previous respective homes and were only allowed to stay because of the flower fairies' somewhat trepid tolerance of them. The dual kickings-out of both Taranza & Sectonia from opposite directions in space are just because space spider parenting pretty much just consists of "alright you're born now get out."

• After arriving on the winds to Popstar, Kirby's first interactions with the planet's other denizens was with the Animal Friends. They took him in and cared for him before and after the events of Kirby's Dreamland, for a time. Following the return of Dreamland's food to its residents in said game's events, a few grateful waddle dees took it upon themselves to build Kirby's iconic dome-shaped house, at which point Kirby stopped living full-time with the Animal Friends.

Second character profile for my Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! series 'Hunted Butterfly'.

This is Chrome, he is one of the monkeys created after the Hyperforce team as a form of counter team against them for the Dark Ones however the Alchemist sent him with his other creator Professor Dominic to protect him from that fate. He is fully aware of his origins due to Professor Dominic telling him and the small memories he remembers but he does not know everything. Unlike most of the monkeys, he is fully robotic. This is due to a similar case to that of Antauri with the difference is that he caught a mysterious illness that had no cure and was slowly killing him so his soul was transferred into the experimental 'Metal Monkey'. His life as a normal monkey is very much forgotton as this happened very early on in his life.

He's had a rough life; losing the people he was closest to, taking on a heavy burden of protecting his home and cruel mercenary work based on revenge. You can tell by looking at his scars and usual expressions. Despite this, he's managed to make the most of it. After all, he's got friends and uses his skills for good instead of evil. He is also a godfather and he loves his goddaughter like she was his own, albeit he's not that open about it. At least to others. Lately he's been opening up a bit to the Hyperforce, although reluctantly, and he seems to be more interested in Otto than he anticipated.

About the 'Silver Effect', he got that by accident when he discovered an ability within his robotic body that presumably didn't work. At the beginning, he hated it because he got mistaken for Antauri but he eventually found it useful as the coating repelled a lot of energy based attacks. The 'Dark Reaper' is a blade that was created an incredibly long time ago; A lot of information has been lost to time but many believe it was created by a Veron Mystic while others believe it was created by an outside source. Regardless, its purpose is to permanently kill Dark Ones and acts as a form of symbol to show who is the main protector of his home planet due to it being there since its creation. The Veron Mystics felt very threatened by it but they never mentioned it to their students. It was inspired by the sword 'Galaxia' from the Kirby series although more of the Anime version since it is sentient in its own way and can activate it's true form on its own if it senses hostiles that the wielder is not aware of.

Designing him and his weapons was interesting as I wanted a unique set of weapons instead of the usual robotic arms turn into the weapons while the design I wanted to focus on the seriousness of his life while hinting at some form of softness.

In the series, there will be flashbacks to better explain his story and the events of the story that will shape his character.

I will reveal more about him at a later date.

I don't know, like he is a war criminal whose pastime is yarn bombing and has a deep seated hatred for scuba divers that is canonically referenced in periphery but never questioned with a heart of slightly tarnished gold. I suppose he still could be.

There is still something to Meta Knight!!! He's one of my favorites for a reason, after all. We aren't really sure where he got his sword, Galaxia, but we do know it's very powerful. He's got a will strong enough to shake off mind control, and while he pretends to be a stoic loner he always tries to save Dreamland and protect its residents. In the light novels, he also has a few added traits, such as always being ready to fight and a love for history!

trashing manga haruka for kissing usagi while ignoring, half of the plot, and the before and after reactions to it. is not a fair criticism especial when in the same breath praising the 90s haruka for flirting with everything that walked in front of michiru, because we got michiru to react to the flirting.

I have said this before in my meta (probably not here) the manga doesn't spoon feed you everything. It is a VERY short story. we do get however small pieces to connect ourselves.

first piece to the puzzle, and a very big one is naoko using kissing as intimidation tactic, the victim of most of the kissing up to "the kiss™" and after it is mamoru (beryl kissed him, black lady kissed him, nehelenia kissed him[for sure in the anime not sure if she did in the manga I dont remember] galaxia kissed him then kicked him in the face. you get the drift. Usagi also falls victim to not only kissing but sexual assault by prince demando

but does haruka belong to that bunch? you will ask, and the simple answer is Yes, she does. At that point of the story, harumichi have revealed themselves as the enemy, haruka literally tells usagi that "playing fighting games is dangerous" before the inners tell her to fuck off. both harumichi have openly threatened the inners and usagi that if they interfere with their plans they will attack them. therefore haruka is seen as the enemy.

with that out of the way let's see what's in the minds of harumichi before the kiss

haruka: what we're trying to do may be a waste of time

haruka: no matter what we do, it may be too late

michiru: we started this knowing that, haruka. the wheels of fate have turned. A new awakening will soon come.

michiru: all we have to do is bring the three talismans together

by the way that last panel is the outcome of a harumichi kiss, the only harumichi kiss that exists (along with the one from seramyu curtain call) it might be off screen and we only see the moment after it, but every detail on this panel is manga way to show that these characters have kissed.

their mouths partly erased, and there is a thin line connecting them, that is the saliva after a kiss. anyone who has read any romance manga in their lives have seen this before..

now back to the dialogue they have.

Haruka has second thoughts of their plan. that is very clear, but michiru is adamant that this is the only way. what way you ask? well that's the whole ass plot of this arc isn't it, michiru simply talking to mamoru is enough to make usagi jelly, but to make mamoru jelly is not that easy. so haruka has to play the big game, and MICHIRU IS AWARE!!! they need to go to extreme. and we know michiru knows because of a later scene that everyone fucking ignores. (again this story doesnt spoon feed you the answers you have to use your brain)

what's the point of their game? to distract usagi and mamoru enough so them do not interfere with the harumichi plans

and here comes "the kiss™"

haruka: don't get in our way (odangochan) . Playing fighting games is dangerous.

she says the exact same thing she told her as haruka couple of paged before.

the plan worked, usagi can not stop thinking and DREAMING of haruka, her bi ass is in trouble.

later on

haruka outright praises michiru in every way possible with an adoring expression on her face, while giving usagi tickets for her concert

haruka: once you hear Michiru's violin, you'll be hooked. she's a wizard that turns instruments and tunes into living beings. if you are interested, will you come and listen?

and then at the concert uranepu attack them telling them "we are not going to fight alongside you" etc

after some time and with usagi sleeping at mamoru's like she always does.

haruka pops up and puts her hands on usagi's face to close her eyes

then proceeds to say the following to usagi

haruka: don't hang around on my way home again. I'll grab you and eat you! (threatening but also half serious)

then she turns and is about to walk away when usagi stops her

usagi: wait wait! you are uranus right? I can tell because you two have the same scent of the wind. we are friends right? we are the same sailor guardians right? why won't you tell me anything?

haruka: I wish we could have met like this without knowing anything, you and I.

then usagi asks her if shes a man or a woman

and of course we get the infamous "man or woman, is that so important?"

what's important in this panel is the little word that I have put in a green circle. that's the sound of haruka touching foreheads with usagi, she doesn't try to kiss her. of course that exact moment mamoru shows up, and gets jelly. so again goal accomplished. but what usagi says to mamoru is very VERY important

mamoru of course being protective, asks usagi what this person did to upset her and usagi while crying says "this is not it, this is not it. I'm in tears because it is so painful"

usagi is worried she had upset mamochan, by seeing her with haruka like that, and she apologizes, but mamoru instantly tells her that he believes in usagi. usagi then admits to have been jelly when she saw him with michiru.

then mamo admits that he's also jealous of that person, too. but there much be a reason why that person always has that look on their face as if they trying to tell you something. there must be a reason these two are so bitter.

usagi: right? right mamochan! I could feel haruka's pain and sadness. I couldn't stop the tears.

then shit happens, their cover is blown, time goes by until usagi sees them again and harumichi just run away avoiding her.

then setsuna shows up and the last important part of this comes to play.

the three of them introduce themselves to princess serenity

setsuna begins with: we are ready to make amends for our rudeness. but for the sake of protecting you and this planet, please forgive us. we, too, have been warriors since time immemorial against invaders from the distant cosmos.

then they talk why they cant fight together, and once the outers give their reasons

haruka is distressed

haruka: please don't make this face princess, we never meant to confuse you.

then michiru explains that Uranus is a warrior with the strengths of both genders (which is massively mistranslated in all versions including smc3, and ignores the cultural aspect haruka is based on)

but that is besides the point, the actual point is that the outers apologized, and explained themselves about their doings (which is safe to assume includes the kiss) which also is safe to assume again that michiru is aware, they had the talk at the beginning after all that implied they will use any means necessary

michiru even says at the end of the entire convo, that they can resent them for what they are going to do, but they cant let the world end. so michiru knows

also another thing about michiru is that she speaks for herself, she speaks for the outers, she has her own mind, she is not a prop to haruka, contrary to popular belief.

just because the mange has limited time with them, since the focus of the third arc is hotaru, doesn;t make their time any less important.

now it has to be said, for obvious reasons

I do NOT think the kiss is appropriate, nor that it is necessary, it is there though for a reason, haruka tries really hard to convince usagi that she's bad news and that she should stay away from her (a.k.a not interfere with their plans) their whole existence is about the cause justifying the means.

I still think that Haruka could have done a million different things than kiss usagi. but at the end of the day it's a think naoko has used before and used again many time.

it's bad, but it is what it is.

the difference now with the 90s is that haruka is a FRIEND who flirts non stop and even scares the shit out of usagi when she tells her (in front of michiru) that she has a chance with her now that she broke up with mamo.

also michiru being annoyed with haruka somehow is seen as great and cute and haha they are so an old couple. what's up with that?

last but not least, the biggest 90s crime is that the producers told the VAs of harumichi that they should play them as a married couple, when megumi ogata questioned that "haruka crossdresses and all but is still a girl, right, so they are a GAY couple, RIGHT?" the answer they got was "THEY ARE NOT A GAY COUPLE"

there is a video proof, of megumi saying that in an interview in 2017.

I have my thoughts about it, but you can think for yourselves what that means overall about 90s haruka and harumichi in general

I will just point out that 90s haruka was constantly jealous of MEN, when michiru is a lesbian. 🤷‍♂️

I'm not gonna post any images from it but I just watched the first half of Sailor Moon Cosmos! Here are some thoughts. Also spoiler warning!!

The animation was amazing and the music stellar! I was very hyped going in. I can't say a lot of the story since it was not subbed as of me watching. It very much followed the plot of Sailor Stars but it added additional scenes such as Marmo being killed by Galaxia, some Chibiusa moments, what the outer Senshi were up to, etc.

I didn't understand what was happening with the cards Usagi kept getting in the mail. Like what was their purpose? I'll have to rewatch it once the subs are out.

MASSIVE SPOILER IG

Everyone dies (Sorta) instead of them all being defeated at once like in the original anime's finale they do it in groups. First Marmo is killed, then Makoto and Ami are killed, then Minako and Rei and finally the outer Senshi. I know they get brought back, if I'm remembering the original well enough. It's kind of more torturous this way for Usagi, she has to watch as all her friends slowly die with all she is left with being the Sailor Starlights and Chibichibi.

What are my opinions so far? It's good, I liked a lot of aspects of the film. However I feel like it is definitely inferior to the og anime. I understand thy had less time to tell the story and some things had to be changed for time and to fit everyone in. But still, if I want to experience this specific arc again I would just rewatch the old show which is also more accessible being free on Pluto TV and YouTube rn.

One final thing before I go, if you are wondering how I got my hands on it despite not being officially released outside of JP yet then... It is available online via 🏴‍☠️... If it gets released internationally I will gladly watch it again and support the official release but for now when it's so uncertain well yeah... Anyways bye!

Submerged Neptunes

Growing up my favorite Sailor Moon character was Sailor Neptune (now I can’t make my mind up between her, Sailor Chibi Moon/Black Lady and Sailor Venus and that’s only my favorite protagonist... Esmeraude had the coolest hair color in the entire anime and Mistress Nine looked hella cool aside from the fact that she wanted to destroy the entire universe but HEY I totally get the appeal of eternal silence. Don’t get me started on Sailor Galaxia’s costume! EPIC! Bitch was wearing a full gold armor). Anyways... Sailor Neptune was the one with shoulder-length, wavy, teal-blue hair and the power of the ocean (her first senshi attack is called Deep Submerge. She grows a giant orb of salt water and energy which projects towards her target to destroy or incapacitate them). Her planet sign is a trident and her astrological sign is the pisces represented by two crescents joined by a curved line at their midpoint. I remember amongst other things that I wanted to be when I got older was to be Sailor Neptune (mostly just to have the blue hair, which I did get at some point AND I ROCKED IT... still can’t create magical tsunamis though). So one day when I was finally running through what I could get as a first tattoo I decided to go with two oranda goldfishes (yes they’re fresh water fishes, I know ;b) crowned with symbols of my favorite childhood senshi. And here we have the Submerged Neptunes.  

Quand j’étais tout petit mon personnage préféré dans Sailor Moon était Sailor Neptune (aujourd’hui j’arrive pas a me décider entre elle, Sailor Chibi Moon/Black Lady et Sailor Vénus et ca c’est juste dans le groupe des gentils... Esmeraude a toujours eu la couleur de cheveux la plus cool de tout le dessin animé et Mistress 9 était juste d’enfer... genre littéralement la meuf voulait détruire tout l’univers MAIS je comprends... Parfois le silence c’est une bonne chose. OH et Sailor Galaxia laisse tomber, la meuf se trimballe dans une robe-armure entièrement faite d’or! LA CLASSE!). Bon retour a Sailor Neptune lol, c’était celle avec les cheveux mi-long, blue canard et le pouvoir de l’océan (son attaque porte le nom Deep Submerge pseduo-traduction = Submerge Profonde. Elle fait apparaître une sphere d’eau de mer et d’énergie qu’elle jette sur sa cible pour la détruire ou l’assommer). Son signe planétaire (obviously) est un trident et son signe astrologique, le poisson prend la forme de deux croissants joints par une courbe qui traverse leur centre. Je me souviens me dire assez souvent “Quand je serais grand je serais Sailor Neptune!” histoire d’avoir des cheveux bleus (techniquement j’ai été Sailor Neptune pendant un petit moment lol les cheveux bleus m’allaient super bien... j’ai toujours pas le pouvoir de créer des tsunamis magiques). Alors le jour où j’ai dû  choisir qu’elle serait mon premier tatouage, je me suis arrêté sur une illu de deux poissons rouges de la variété oranda (oui c’est des poissons d’eau douces je sais ;b) portant les insignes de ma sailor-héroïne préférée. Et voila le résultat les Neptunes Submergés.
