ok about that last post I was not actually expecting y'all to hear me out but now that you have allow me to indulge by sharing the AU I've been brainrotting about for literal months feat. Ruth and Richie also I'm so normal abt this:

Pete, Ruth and Richie are borrowers living in Hatchetfield High. They've been living there from well before they were even highschool age and it's why they're so educated and smart especially by borrower standards. They also have the school computer room to access the internet which is how they know pop culture and stuff. Richie's borrower weapon of choice is an anime pin he stole borrowed from some kid's backpack, he can use it both as a shield and to stab things and when he's not using it he wears it on his back like a shell. Pete uses one of those Chupa Chups type lollipops since not only can he hit shit with it but he can also lick it if he has low blood sugar (don't worry he puts it back in the wrapper every time). Ruth dual wields thumbtacks like daggers since she is a menace to society ❤️. They have a dopeass borrower hideout with a buncha cool knick knacks they borrowed and Pokémon cards on the walls like posters courtesy of Richie. They mostly eat school cafeteria food so pray for them. Steph is the only human who knows about them, she finds Pete first and then later Ruth and Richie. Your honor she loves her weird little guys if anything happened to them she'd kill everyone in this room and then herself. Grace keeps getting this close to discovering them but they always manage to avoid her. There's human x borrower lautski obviously which I go feral about they are so so adorable togetherrr. Also not that relevant but this coexists with my borrowers Lex and Hannah AU which I'll probably share someday :))))

How old is the MC and the casts?

Right now I'm thinking 28 for MC.

As for the rest of the cast:

A is 32.

Gaelin is 30.

Morgan is 30.

Castor is 25.

Merfolk don't count the years but rather lunar cycles but that would be a lot lol physically they're 26.

I’m curious about something, how is Alice and Ruth relationship? Do they hate each other?? Of it’s just neutral?

It’s an interesting one for sure, Ruth is very protective of Ben and doesn’t think too highly of Alice, sometimes thinking she’s manipulating him in some way.

the more i think about it, the more convinced i am that something is happening with dorthy ruth. im not quite sure what it is yet. will she be a villain? will her fiance? is she gonna save the puppets from the wondrium arena? no clue. but she's up to something

Here is a draft crest for my Under the Oak Tree OC, Isolde Hallowcrest's house.

A little explanation:

Isolde and her house is decended from the great Numen race, which was a race of humanoids that hailed from another star. They brought seeds to great trees called Aurum (alongside other things) with them. They wished to live amongst mankind and learn for, of them as well as teach them their own ways.

Hallowvale Castle situated in the Northern region of Balto is built around one such Great Aurum tree. The trees are famed for their yellow leaves and are regarded as Watchers or Guardians by the now diluted Numen-human race. Aurum leaves only shed off the tree when they sense the coming of a new age which is seen as a joyus occasion hence the tree's shedding being depicted on the standard.

Numens fight with all kinds of weapons. They are more proficient with claymores, long daggers and longswords. The Hallowed Guardians swear to protect their land, and any person they may encounter. Using their weapons to protect and serve than to wage war for glory.

In recent history however, Marquess Ingram Hallowcrest does not abide by this principle.

So why exactly is Grandpa Sorenson the caretaker of Fablehaven rather than Grandma if the stewardship runs through the Burgess line? Did she not want the position or something? The obvious solution is of course that it’s some kind of patriarchy thing, but there’s also that line concerning Lost Mesa:

“Lost Mesa is different than some preserves in that it has always been managed by a female caretaker.” (Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague, Chapter 7: Lost Mesa)

Some not most, which suggests that female caretakers are just as common, or perhaps even more so, than male ones. So again, why Grandpa Sorenson? Is Fablehaven a preserve that only has male caretakers for some reason? If so, did Ruth just not have any male siblings that could take the role? Or is it some other reason (a.k.a Mull didn’t think about it)?
