Viking navigators relied on the North Star, also known as Polestar or Polaris, to chart the direction of their routes at night.
To locate the Polaris, find the Big Dipper. The two stars at the end of the Dipper's "cup" point the way to Polaris,
which is the tip of the Little Dipper's handle, or the little bear's tail in the constellation Ursa Minor.

SCBWI Artober 2024 Day 24 - Gothic
Once I stood in portrait A joke.
To all who saw my photo I was ugly, dated, A cruel rendition Evoked.
I tried to change, To rearrange, Try life In vogue.
I mocked my photo, Disowned it, Joked, O how it made Me choke.
But values changed Or life and time Rearranged, Rewrote.
Now to portrait I Invoke.

Peach Creek Middle School Paranormal Research and Investigation Club Roster
Character art for a middle grade horror comic set in 90s New England I’m writing! I’ve been thinking a lot about doing a horror story for kids so this is where I’m going.
It’s about the Peach Creek Middle School Paranormal Investigation Club and their quest to uncover the secrets lying beneath their sleepy New England town. Inspired by Goosebumps, Gravity Falls, Spiderwick Chronicles, X-Files, Lovecraft/Weird Fiction/Cosmic Horror, Stephen King, and all things creepy. I’m kind of using tumblr as an online writing journal so it’s a work-in-progress. Right now I’ve got Club President Lou, VP Jean, and Treasurer Alejandro.
More to come: 2 more members of the club, their negligent faculty supervisor, freaky folks around town, and some terrifying cryptids and creatures our characters will encounter
Pls let me know what you think!!

The writing retreat
At the beginning of May, I attended a writing retreat up in the mountains of Southern California. Tahquitz Pines in Idyllwild, once a youth camp, has been refashioned into a wedding/resort destination. Its cabins, bunkhouses, and lodges still whisper echoes of Christian songs and children’s laughter. The writing retreat is put on by the Southern California chapter of the Society of Children’s…

CTS A | Week 12 Compulsory Question 3
Before this class, we primarily discussed the work we did during our sessions. However, this was an opportunity to reflect on the past and consider various perspectives. I would like to mention aspects related to my future career aspirations.
Currently, I am interested in becoming a book designer. I have a passion for books; I enjoy reading and appreciate how stories are crafted with imagination. When selecting a book, I consider two main factors. First, it must be well-written and engaging enough to spark my imagination. For example, if I read a sentence like, “She found a new town with houses that had round roofs, nestled in the middle of the forest,” I automatically visualize that scene from the perspective of the main character describing it.

The second consideration is whether the illustrations complement the mood of the book. If a book tells a family story but features a bit of eerie illustrations, it disrupts the overall tone and style. At the moment, I am focused on book design. Before coming to Lasalle, I worked in Fine Arts, which naturally led me to think about collaborating with fine arts. I envision creating a book with hand-drawn illustrations, as I am fond of the rough style of hand drawings. Specifically, I want to design books for children. I’m inspired by organizations like SCBWI, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, which supports those involved in writing and illustrating children's literature. Collaborating with such communities could help in creating children's books.

To make a successful book, we need to master storytelling and drawing. This CTSA class was so helpful for me to organize my thoughts. For other classes, I am learning and improving the way of using Indesign, and illustration. I want to work on this skills, and I hope after it got confident, I want to use these skills with my my fine art skills.

SCBWI Artober 2024 Day 31 - Sunset
I’m at the lake. The sunset gleams its peace. I wish I felt the same. My River charts A path in rapids, churning slimy grease Polluting blood to brain from rotten heart.
I see the tree across the sea of blue, The Ash re-rooted, growing beautifully, The water nurturing, to nourish through Its cleansing spring of hope and glist’ning lea.
The water hates me. Waves recede from feet, The tide denies its healing powers so, The ripples shine a blinding light at me, My boat capsized denies my futile row.
Reflections show what’s vanished permanent, My specter’s foul replacement water flees. I look in fright at evil germinant, The Troll of Traverse Ridge looks back at me.
