Blue Beetle's YA graphic novel debut, will tackle contemporary issues well-known to the Latino community. Immigration and perceptions of border life and issues will be addressed, framing current events in a DC context. Contrary to the recent film, which takes place in Palmera City, Jaime will be operating in his hometown of El Paso, Texas, in a retelling of his origin story.
OK, my Star Trek and Data fan peeps, I have a book you NEED to read: The Infinity Particle by Wendy Xu. It's a beautiful YA sci-fi graphic novel that just came out a couple months ago, and I am in love.
Set in a future colony on Mars, where advanced AI has become commonplace, it explores a lot of the same themes as "The Measure of a Man": what is humanity, at what point does a being become sentient, and what rights to autonomy and individuality do such beings have? Plus, it's got an adorable sweet romance between the human main character (who has an interesting twist of her own) and the (very cute) android who is struggling with his newfound feelings and sentience.
It's just...so gorgeous and so sweet and hitting me with all the cute android feels. I can't imagine anyone who's a Data fan in particular not loving this book, but I recommend it for any fans of sci fi and YA graphic novels
Y'all, I've been sitting on this for TEN MONTHS and now I finally get to talk about it!!!
I have a new QUEER YA HORROR graphic novel coming in 2026! Creepy ghosts, deep queer friendships, gender euphoria and trans self-realization... oh, and a haunted high school musical! It's exactly the type of horror story with heart that I always wanted to tell but didn't think I'd ever be "allowed" to..... and now I finally can!
(Different name 'cause it's YA, but yep, that's me!)
Pretty sure my agent and editor aren't on tumblr, but I still have to shout them out because they are AMAZING. Jen Azantian believed in this story from the start, and her feedback made me cry (in a good way). And Alex Aceves immediately understood the heart of the story, and her feedback has just been incredible. She knows exactly how to bring out the best in a story like this.
This is for the Queer Austen Truthers! I give you Jane Austen’s “Emma” but as a sapphic YA graphic novel!!
I made this for my queer 18th century British literature class (very liberal arts college of me, I know) and I felt the need to share it!
I took quotes directly from “Emma” that can be read from a queer perspective and I paired them with illustrations that show my personal interpretation of the text.
PSA: This is MY interpretation. I know Emma is “straight” canonically but let me have my fun. If you don’t like queer readings of novels, don’t read! This isn’t for you!
Heres some little previews of a new pitch I'm working on with my agent- I hope it gets picked up as I'm pleased with the plot we've developed! It's gonna be a little queer romance/drama set (vaguely, as my agent insists it will bring in more readers haha) against backdrop of C18th France, talking about pamphlet censorship that existed back then (obvs drawing somewhat from my own recent experiences with book censorship)
GUYS, the cover for Ready or Not was just revealed by SimonTeen! 🤗 I’ve been sitting on this for what feels like millennia, and I’m so excited to finally get to share it with you 💞 And I miiiight be biased, but this is my fave cover yet. It’s really really wild seeing my name up there. TY to Karyn Lee for the direction, my color balancing queen 👑
