If I’m wrong, I’ll eat my words (and off anon lol), but I’d bet money that critics skewer Tom in this play. And we can’t say it’s the writing, but I’m sure we’ll see the usual “he picks horrible projects” thrown in there.

Okay. By the way, critics usually praise his performances even as they skewer the projects. I’ll reblog this when we get the reviews.

Four sticks of Yakitori or grilled chicken on skewers to go around. Tender morsels of boneless chicken meat grilled to perfection and dipped in a special sauce consisting of mirin, sake, soy sauce, and sugar with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Ordered three each of the Beef and Pork Roll with Golden Mushroom (Bifu/Buta Enoki Maki) as one of my colleague declined it for fear of having the mushroom stuck between her teeth. Too bad the restaurant does not have meat & asparagus roll else it would be great.

For the last dish, my colleague had the Cod Roe Spaghetti (Mentaiko Spaghetti) after we promised to help her finish it. While the seasoned roe adds umami profile to the pasta, we were almost at our limit to consume more food so each of us took a few strands to aid her. :D

Chess Blog Day #26 - Skewers

A skewer occurs when a piece is attacked and another, less valuable, piece is behind it.

It's sort of the opposite of a pin.

Since a pin is usually when the less valuable piece is the first in line and a skewer is usually when the more valuable piece is first in line, there's a bit of debate as to what to call it when two equally valuable pieces are attacked in a line.

Personally I think that a "pin" implies that a piece is pinned down and doesn't want to move, and so everything else should be called a skewer. What do you think?

Only bishops, rooks and queens can do a skewer since they're the only pieces that can capture in a "line". The same applies to pins.
