Retro_G is back with another art cover! This is a post linked to my playthro of "Doom" SnapMaps. The Lobby is dedicated to users creating their own maps and this one is pretty creative going by the name "ByManStudio". Unfortunately this user hasn't made a part 2. I think Doom 2016 should've had a horde mode and for a big reason: "preserving" most of the multiplayer assets.

The maps could've easily been used for a Horde Mode.

Weapon? Make them pick ups. Even if there's a number of weapon spawns per level, maybe add randomization or at least get considerate with the amount of weapons and maps, so none is left behind.

Should some weapons change? I know the Grenade Launcher had a smoke bomb that just messed with visibility for human players, so maybe turn that into a damaging gas bomb.

Inventory items? Maybe a bit of randomization too, but still with 3 slots and switching between them like in the SP.

I also recall SnapMap making it so you can drop a weapon in favor of a new one: Could that be carried over here?

Demons? Most would easily be the ones you fight in SP.

Not sure about the Prowler and Harvester: Maybe one can backport his moves from Eternal while the other could be "new".

I recall 2016 MP having bots in general, so maybe they worked with the Demonic Rune too: Maybe AI/enemy demons could borrow some moves they'd have as playable (An idea i once thought for BattleMode too like Pain Elementals using that shield etc).

Demonic Rune could also be cool as a power up used against AI/enemy demons.

Speaking of AI/bots based off players: That could be a way to "preserve" an idea of deathmatch, player skins and weapons while coexisting with enemies.

Like an occasional fake player showing up while you blast demons.

Not sure about SnapMap related things like props/decoration that it had, that might not be in SP or MP.

(or that one demon control grenade and some other items)

If 2016 had like a new playable expansion or suddenly more MP maps, some stuff from SnapMap could've been used there.

Actually, even VFR had some new areas in that game.

If you have Snapchat you can use the snap map to see what's going on in Gaza RIGHT NOW! Please be warned that a lot of it is in real time and is unfiltered. It allows you to watch snaps from weeks ago and you can replay it as much as you want.

I really miss playing DOOM 2016's multiplayer, but I can't afford PSPlus right now... but anyway, back when I used to play I noticed a loading screen that says the multiplayer is a simulation:

I thought this was really cool and from it I made lore and ocs ⁉️ and I'm gonna try rewriting some of what I originally wrote and thought of on May 4 of 2023.

Before I begin, I need to mention that this isn't meant to be taken super seriously, it's all just for fun and what ifs.

Right. So my first thought was taking this company mentioned in the storyboard for a cutscene of what was going to be DOOM 4. I did think of making a different logo too because this one is too similar to VEGA, but that never happend.

In this idea, this company is owned by the UAC. They work on the simulations. I used to say their main focus was project Multiplayer, very original lmao. On this project the only thing that comes from the real world are soilders, and everytime they make an update to the simulation they bring back some of them and bring in some new people to test it. They probably have these specific machines that connect to the brain to, i guess, transport them into the digital world.

As Hell breaks lose on Mars, a simulation is being played, and no one's alive on the other side to stop it. So it goes on for a long while, the machine is falling apart and the matches slowly begin to fail more and more. The soilder's brains start deteriorating too...

Heard that some console players had issues with entering SnapMap and a series like LittleBigPlanet had its servers shut down.

I hope id considers some sort of plan to keep SnapMap alive or at least someone else figures that out even if unoffiically.

Specially because of the stuff about Doom being eternal, its legacy, even the unique assets that SnapMap has etc.

So here's that "how Eternal is Doom" post i wrote once.
