Any planet you discover on your journey is marked on your galactic map, along with its name, its atmosphere and what resources you found there. If you choose to, you can then share that information with every other player, uploading it so that it’s shared across everyone’s galactic map.

You’ll get credit for discovering it. You’ll also, if the materials there are valuable, attract players to come visit. No Man’s Sky isn’t a multiplayer game, in as much as you’ll never see another player. But the galaxy is the same between everyone and actions of *significance* will be shared. If you kill a single bird, that won’t be shared. If you make an entire species of bird extinct, then those creatures will blink out of existence for everyone.

First of all, this game sounds fucking awesome!

However, I usually don't complain about a lack of multiplayer but I honestly don't know how they could have decided not to include mutliplayer in this game. It feels like it's almost a necessity. I don't mean like an MMO, I mean either just co-op, or maybe people get thrown together randomly, say 50 players in the same solar system, so you might never see them, or you might get into a brawl or find a ally. Every player can have an impact on every other player but we cant actually play together at all... that's very disappointing, although I think what they've done is also cool at the same time.

Ok, I'm done complaining about it now. Just had to get it out of my system. I know that, if this game is going to be as amazing as it sounds, I wont be bothered by a lack of multiplayer once I've started playing it, I'm sure.I prefer single player experiences anyway.

X4: Foundations most sophisticated space simulation available on Windows, but coming to Linux. The recent release of the latest in the vaunted X Series of games has everyone hyped. Thanks to the efforts of developer Egosoft. The games available now on Steam, GOG and Humble Store>. This is a space simulation playable as an action game from the 1st person in a living breathing universe. So X4: Foundations delivers the franchise's most sophisticated universe simulation ever. While players manage an empire and exploreg space in first person. Since you can FLY EVERY SHIP, TRADE and FIGHT to BUILD their empire. Which also means modular station construction. So think carefully when embarking on an epic journey. X4: Foundations is a completely realistic simulation with an economy that can go through massive changes. So no two universes in different player save games will be anything alike - after just a few hours of playtime. While NPC factions are now able to freely decide what factories and ships to build. And it is all eventually consumed in the ultimate big economy drain: WAR. Yes this is a singleplayer game, so you are completely on your own.

Linux Support:

So if you want to check out the thread for yourself, by all means. There are people commenting on Proton use, trying to get the game to launch. Sadly there seems to be an issue. Even on Windows there is already an FAQ around Vulkan. Personally, I did launch the game via Proton using Steam Play. But everything seems to come to a grinding halt on the title window. Which ends up hanging as well. Also, Egosoft did reach out to re-affirm Linux support:

This really is a realistic space simulation at the core. Which makes all player experiences in that universe so much more authentic. Since every action has the potential to influence something else, something bigger.  Things do not just happen because of the player, but because a part of this real simulation. For instance, when a ship is destroyed, it won't deliver its goods to a factory, causing prices to increase.
