I Can’t Bare It

Greek god Au Shouji x GN!Mortal!Reader

Hello bees, I’m back. This was a request tho I kinda went wild and didn’t really follow the request. I’m sorry: I promise in the future I’ll make one that actually follows what you asked tho I hope this one suffices till then. I did this in one day, so yeah… I’m currently distracting myself- everything’s fine don’t worry.

Note: I bring up Shinso and his S/O I wrote about in previously. I’ve written other stuff following the Greek god Au, which is in my master list! And no, none of this is Greek Mythology accurate.

Warning: Mention of death, fluffy ending with a small bit of angst mixed in the middle.

You were a sun, a star that made his world all the easier to live in. How he ever lived so long without you hell never know. Or how he'll live without you, he can't imagine.

“Please, I can't bare to lose them.”

His voice was low. He was the god of mental strength. Warriors and mothers prayed to him in hours of need. To not become fearful or to remain strong through birth or challenging days with little ones. He enjoyed those prayers and wishes. Spying down as the young mothers, arms full of young ones, cried and clinging begging for more attention. There were myths of him coming down, helping a young mother left with 6 children, family gone. How he provided her strength by proving she was not alone, holding each child in his many arms and rocking them to sleep.

And then there was you. You prayed for the strength to continue your task, working in the small village as an unpaid “mother” of the many children with no family. There was nothing called an orphanage. Just the lonely person who took handouts and children lost from the many wars around the land. Never having the chance to marry and settle.

“Please, just more time. Please I don't wish to yell or scream, I want to give them the life they should have.” you prayed to Shinso and him, hoping for their wisdom and favor. Shinso, with his darling partner, watched you, both smiling sadly at your pleas.

“Shouji” the young woman addressed, “you should go.” it shocked him, to be told to descend to your world- to help. He wasn’t against it, yet the interference of gods where rare, incredibly rare. Yet one look at the god of the mind, and he left to your small home.

The other gods could see the signs of Shouji's smitten actions. How he'd come down daily, help you with the many children, guide you, and provide the mental strength to continue with their cries

“Shouji, you are the god of strength. Losing them and continuing will prove it.”

Word spread quickly, as one onlooker witnessed the multi-arm god descend. And soon, the village seemed to honor you as nearly a queen. Even the leader coming down from his life of luxury to give thanks for your sacrifice to watch the many lost children. Whether the sudden warmth was out of the goodness of their hearts or to get on the god's good side, Shouji found himself caring less. The children were eating well, and you seemed to be aging backward as the stress of providing for them all alone slowly melted away as you received help. And yet, you still prayed to Shouji and Shinso, thanking them and praising them. Burning food, your portion, and always providing worship.

“I don't wish that to be!”

“Shouji…”

You were older, your body becoming slow and brittle. No longer able to keep up with many movements of children, and so your home becomes silent as your role was passed on. Your shaking hands latched to him, your body resting on his side and his many arms blanketed you. “I'm scared to leave. I don't wish to.”

“Neither do I.”

Silent tears rolled down your lined cheeks, the many bright smiles leaving permanent marks in their happy wake. “Thank you, Shouji. For looking after me and the children, for giving me the strength.”

“You were always a worthy cause.” his arms tightened as he watched your soul slowly slip from you, pulling downwards to the area of judgment. He whimpered, watching it slowly be dragged away..

“D-don't cry love.” your shaking hand went to his cheek, brushing over the scars that stayed there. “You will always be with me, no matter my fate.”

Tears fell onto your cheeks, as Shouji grasped your hand watching your souls get pulled away, the bright glow seeping past the floor and far beneath any worldly place to where your life would be judged, your body going limp.

“Shouji! Stop listening to the storyteller!” you scolded, your youthful face angled down to a frown. “You always get sad and I hate seeing it!” he flushed, looking away from the storytellers he watched from above. Hearing their endings to the story as swiveled to face you.

“Yet they rose from their slumber in the land of happiness! Taking their place near their beloved!”

“I'm sorry, love,” he whispered, walking towards you to hold your smaller frame. You tsked at him, as a mother to a child, before smiling, your eyes so full of life he could drown.

“And that my children, is the protector of the lost youth came to be.”

The sage burned at your statue, your smiling face looking down as you held a beautifully carved child.

“This house has a bunch of blankets though, why would we need more?” Ahsoka asked, perplexed. She took out one, letting her fingers run through the velvet feeling of its soft fur.

“Well,” Riyo leaned her hip against the counter, waving the plate of bird meat at her. “For you, of course.”

Ahsoka stared at her. Riyo stared back.

When it seemed no one was going to talk first, Ahsoka let out a confused, “Why?”

Riyo gave her a long look, as if she thought Ahsoka would take a piss on her.

Realisation started to seep in its cracks the longer this silence stretched out, and Riyo blinked at her in surprise. “You forgot, didn’t you?”

Posted for the More To Love (Star Wars edition): a smutty multi-partner fic challenge!

One of the ways to produce some amount of success when it came to whatever life they live now was to always, unfortunately, never expect too much.

A situation that required your hundred percent was the goal here — at least, this was what life usually would demand of them, when they live in a world where working less for the sake of their sanity was wrong, apparently. And if that didn’t work, salvaging whatever chance that still existed to, say, not get indiscriminately killed was one of the top things Ahsoka would try to achieve in this karking batshit of a galaxy.

This insane galaxy. This I-would-very-much-like-to-live-longer-despite-that-threat-over-there galaxy.

Such was the series of living a life where death constantly unlatched its maw above your head.

Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Dragon Age, fairy tale retellings, and one fic each for Sherlock Holmes and Batman

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

so Fade to Black and Fade to Black and Back, my two multi-chapter smut series for Star Wars Rebels, are I guess going to be my enduring fandom legacy lol. 637 kudos for the first and 452 for the second.

After that it's...more smut, but Talk About It is Dragon Age smut, and I guess my most popular stand-alone story at 399 kudos.

Then it's back to Star Wars Rebels, but Wedding Dance (377 kudos) is a gen fic, so that's my most popular non-smut piece. Braided at 320 kudos is another explicit one.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I always mean to, but sometimes when a bunch come in at once I get overwhelmed. I try and go back and respond to unanswered comments every time I revisit an old fic. Just this week I answered a couple that were seven years old *wince*. It's never too late, right?

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

That's Scenes From Rivendell, no question. I can still make myself cry re-reading that fic. Poor Celebcarch.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of them have happy endings really, but I'll say the happiest is Marriage of Convenience, because it was written to provide a happy ending for Alistair and Anora--and that's a pairing that only arises out of some pretty grief-laden circumstances in Dragon Age: Origins. So that's the fic that takes something sad and makes it better.

8. Do you get hate on your fic?

A couple times people have tried to chide me for writing smut, which is like ??? Did you not see ALL the warnings? My sister what were you even doing at the devil's sacrament?

9. Do you write smut?

I doooooo. Yes I do. I don't feel even a little bit bad about it, either.

Sex is important! It's one of the most intense, emotion-rich experiences in life! Especially in a love story--there is nothing that will tell you more about the dynamic between two people than showing how they have sex. And the smut is the part that's usually left out in mainstream media, so it's the big "missing piece" that I am often drawn to want to fill in, creatively.

10. Do you write crossovers?

I haven't, but it would be a fun challenge.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes and it's the best feeling every time. Same for getting podfic made of my stories, or fanart. Just the best.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

No, but from rp experiences, I think collabs are absolutely the way to go if possible. It just gets lonely writing on your own, and having a partner keeps the energy up.

14. What‘s your all-time favorite ship?

Space pirate OCs. But excluding my own characters... man, I've had poor luck with my ships, honestly. Looking back through the characters I was really passionate about, canon screwed me one way or another on all of them. I loved Mulder/Scully, Xena/Gabrielle, and Kanan/Hera, and all of their shows went off the rails at the end, so I think about them all with a tinge of sadness now.

It's better to love your own characters, because then at least when you make awful things happen to them, it doesn't come as a surprise.

My only current WIP is a kid's book, and I hope I do finish it!

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialog, and also there's a sort of lyrical register that I can shift into pretty easily (it's a trick I often use for endings).

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Oh, self-indulgence. Things like writing about Kanan's seaglass eyes, or people "growling" their dialog. Cheese, basically. I don't rein myself in too much for fanfic, but in original writing I have to be strict with edits because if I don't force myself to stay spare and restrained, I'm probably getting cheesy with it.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Tricksy, very tricksy! It's certainly not something you can just hand off to Google Translate. I personally wouldn't do it unless I had some first hand experience with the language, or could consult with native speakers.

Funny story on that, for the space pirate novel, I had a bit where I needed an automated warning looping in various languages. The English was "Warning! Please evacuate the building!"

I asked my Russian friend to give me a translation, and he said I'd need to do some cultural translation first, because the Russian "would be a lot more direct. And they wouldn't say 'please.'" So he gave me Vnimaniye! Vyhodi zdaniye! which apparently translates more directly to "Attention! Exit building."

That's the kind of thing Google Translate can't do for you.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

X-Files. This was Usenet days. Alt.tv.x-files. Many many memories. At one point there was a spinoff group so we could roleplay, but not roleplay being in the show, exactly. Just like all living in a town. It was almost a proto-Tumblr.

I miss Usenet.

20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

It might be The Last of the Rebel Angels: that one's not the best, I don't think, but it's the weirdest and most ambitious. I had something to say, and even if I only managed to sketch it out or gesture at it, there's still a really tender place in my heart for that fic.

Star wars’ lore is MASSIVE... As a result, I try to learn more about it through bits and pieces, I choose what I feel like will work best for my interpretations then fill in the gaps however I feel like. Pokemon's lore is very chill, easy to digest and fun to play around with! Even if there isn't much for many characters, but I still try to stick with the timeline of events that most fans agrees with. Saint Seiya's lore is what I'm currently learning more about! So far, it's kinda of chill like Pokemon's but it is fun to think of, like it is with SW's.

One-liners are only for crack/dash shenanigans. Shorter responses work best for Discord RPs. But on tumblr, I have a huge preference for lengthier threads.

I used to love using icons, I had tons of fun with both iconing and making borders for them. BUT I've dropped them in favor of banners. ATP I got too many muses, and it'd drive me MAD to make them for each one of them. My banners are meant to fill in the void left by icons, and this way it challenges me to put more effort on my writing.

I have a huge preference for plotted stuff. Knowing the course of events and my partner’s muse makes things a lot easier for me, and overall it is a lot more enjoyable to me.

How quickly do you usually respond to threads? Very Slow (more than a month) / Slow (3-4 weeks) / Average (1-2 weeks) / Fast (less than one week) / Very Fast (less than three days)

It depends on the kind of thread & the size of it TBH. Usually speaking, I'm fast to get to RP responses, but I rely on my queue to deliver them. It helps me to space out RP responses, and manage the numbers of RP threads I have going. I can't stress enough how this method helps me SO MUCH, to prevent any form of burnouts. It may seem like I tend to respond faster to Discord rps, simply because the threads there tend to be shorter in size. But it is mainly due to the fact, there isn’t a queue system.

I have no triggers! But I would like that my mutuals tagged anything related to current world events/politics. I get how heated these subjects are to many people. However, I’m not an American, when I’m on my RP blogs I don’t want to see those things. Trust me, if I wanted to know more about it, I'd search for reputable sources of information. And not random blogs, that could be spreading misinformation or fear mongering, uninformed people. No one benefits from these types of situations. I've been in the RPC for many years, and this shit shouldn't be seen an acceptable way to behave online. Spoiler alert: You're not a grand savior, just bc you reblogged a post that had something to do, with whatever may be happening. Not everyone on Tumblr is from the US.

Bruh, anything can be considered problematic in this day & age, let's go grab some juice instead. I have ships where, a good chunk of their respective fandoms have labelled them as "problematic". But then when you look at my writing, I'm not writing the "problematic" things the fandom claims them to be as. In the end of the day, my followers and mutuals are highly encourged to curate their stay. This includes, blacklisting to their hearts' content. I feel like we as online fandoms have devolved so much, to a point you will likely find a mfer claiming how shipping in itself is problematic. As well as how you must be ashamed, to enjoy pairing fictional characters in general. Anyway hit me with whatever you want, and I’ll be the judge of what I want to write or not.

sharing a bit of my Obi-Wan Kenobi X Quinlan Vos X Siri Tachi fic (still needs a title) for the upcoming More to Love event in an attempt to harness some motivation and really get to work on it today. NSFW below the cut

“Don’t practice what you teach, hmm?” Quin mocked gently, licking tenderly against flexed upper thighs to lessen the bite of his words. “Patience is for others, not for you?” Siri growled lightly above him as he picked up the pace ever so slightly but kept his touch light. “What if I waited until you begged for what you wanted?” She wasn’t one to ask, she was one to take. “Whose will do you think would win out?”

A furrowed brow and a flicker of discontent was enough to tell him that that was the wrong track to take before she even spoke. Quin was willing to adjust accordingly, but as always Obi-Wan was there to strike the balance and keep the peace that existed between their three similar, stubborn, strong personalities.

“What if I asked the same of you, Quinlan?” Obi-Wan purred as he moved behind Quin, the pad of his thumb running between his toned ass and petting over his hole. “Would you be able to last, baby?” Quin didn’t need to look over his shoulder to see the flash of teeth to know what Obi-Wan sported an ear splitting grin. They all knew that Quin wouldn’t last, would fall apart and beg to be ruined by his partners if they tried to hold out on him. But he loved to try, and they loved to see how far they could get before his resolve cracked.

The Best Years of Our Lives (1946); AFI #37

The next film on the AFI list is the epic drama, directed by William Wyler, about the men coming home to their families after WW2, The Best Years of Our Lives (1946). The timing on the films\ was perfect to help families deal with the struggles of returning war veterans. It deals with unfaithful partners, loving partners who have to learn to except injuries of their loved ones, and families who have made a life out of being without a father in the household and nobody is quite sure how to proceed. The movie was nominated for 8 Oscars and took home 7 of them including Best Picture and Best Director. Harold Russel won Best Supporting Actor as well as a special award for encouraging fellow veterans. Mr. Russel was the only actor to ever win two acting awards for the same role in the same year. There is more to be said about the actors and the story, but it seems now is a good time to go over the plot of the film. This, of course, involves...

SPOILER ALERT!!! WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS FILM IS NO BIG SURPRISE, BUT I WOULD STILL RECOMMEND WATCHING IT FIRST AND THEN COMING BACK AFTER TO READ THE REVIEW!!!

The plot follows the lives of three veterans returning from service at the end of World War II to the fictional midwestern town of Boone City: USAAF bombardier Fred Derry (Dana Andrews), naval petty officer Homer Parrish (Harold Russel), and platoon sergeant Al Stephenson (Fredric March). Before their respective military service, Fred was a soda jerk who married Marie (Virginia Mayo) shortly before shipping out. Al was a banker living with his wife Millie (Myrna Loy), adult daughter Peggy (Teresa Wright) and teen-aged son Rob. Homer was a star high school athlete living with his parents and sister, next door to his girlfriend, Wilma (Cathy O'Donnell). Homer lost both hands during the war and returns with mechanical hook prostheses.

Each man faces challenges integrating back into post-war society. Homer deals with the adjustments he and his family and Wilma face in light of his disability. Al's penchant for alcohol and the adjustments of returning to the banking business cause tension with his family and business associates. Fred, who experiences flashbacks of his bombing raids, becomes frustrated with the wife he barely knows and an employer who fails to appreciate him, and who eventually fires him when Fred punches a man in defense of Homer. Fred and Peggy become attracted to each other which puts the married Fred and Al at odds. Fred eventually leaves his cheating wife, and with no seeming future in Boone City, he decides to catch the next plane out. At the airport, Fred visits an aircraft boneyard and has another flashback. He is roused by a work crew boss who agrees to hire Fred to help disassemble the war planes for prefabricated housing material. Now divorced, Fred serves as best man at the wedding of Homer and Wilma, where he sees Peggy and they reunite.

I have watched this film 4 times in the last 6 weeks because I kept meaning to do the review and then something happened. I had a move out of state, my dad was sick, I got a sudden group of students...it has been interesting. It has allowed my to really digest what this film is all about. A couple things that surprised me are how the women play all the tough characters, which was very abnormal for the time. Fred plays second fiddle to a cheating wife. Al tries to get his family to go out on the town. Homer doesn't want to talk about what is bothering him while Wilma shows undying love and loyalty. All of the men's roles basically described how Old Hollywood expected women to act at the time.

Let's go into depth with the characters a little more. Fred is having some kind of PTSD issue caused by seeing a man burned in a bomber. He apparently saved a bunch of men, but his memories still haunt him. He married a gold digger that loves a man in uniform before he left and she turns out to be a dud. He falls for Peggy Stevenson, daughter of one of the men he met on the plane home. He moves in too early and gets told off by her dad but his garbage wife divorces him and he goes back for Peggy. A lot of men got married right before leaving and returned to a wife they didn't really know. This was a real and present danger at the time this film came out and it was brave of them to address it so head on.

Al was the big man around the house and made all of the money for the family and his wife and children basically served him before the war. Al went off and became a sergeant so he became used to people doing what he said. He returned to a family that had learned to get by without him and had their own life so he is at a loss of what his place is in the family so he just gets drunk to cover up the awkwardness. His wife, Millie, and his daughter, Peggy, have angelic patience with the unsure man of the family and help him find his place again. This aspect of the movie was more about the strong women of the family although Fredric March was the one who received an Oscar for his performance.

Homer is the character I think most people remember about this movie because he was missing his hands. He was afraid to see his girlfriend and family because of the hooks that replaced his hands might be frightening. It did take some getting used to, but his girl seemed to love him just the same. Homer seemed to think that she would not like him anymore because he couldn't do all of things he could before. He had a little difficulty with tone because he would go from demanding independence one minute to wallowing in self pity the next. What is so good about the film and the character is that injured veterans tend to go through the stages of grief over the loss of a limb or motor function of a limb. It is likely that he would be all over the spectrum emotionally.

There were quite a few racial slurs about the Japanese people because there were very hard feelings for the bombing of Pearl Harbor, especially from the Navy and Air Force. It is a little hard to listen to today, but it does convey they American sentiment of the time. It also makes sense that you really have to hate somebody to want to fight and kill them, so I understand why all of the these characters would feel that way about people from that country.

Some of the scenes were a little uncomfortable to watch because awkward feelings about returning home and fitting back in with their families and society is not a comfortable subject. Al was especially hard for me to watch because he tried to hide his feelings with copious amounts of drinking. His first night back when he hit on his wife thinking she was somebody else and when he made a speech at his company's "welcome home" party both stand out as especially cringy.

So does this film belong on the AFI top 100? Of course it does. It is multi award winning and gives the viewer a feel for that moment in time right after WW2 when all the military people were coming home. Would I recommend it? Yes. It is one of the few movies of the time period that weren't touting America's superiority and instead focused on the toll that going to war took on the people who fought and those waiting back home. It is quite a long film with some cringy moments, but it is well worth it and very memorable.
