Unpopular Opinion: Star Wars and Star Trek are Two Mutually Exclusive Lifestyle Choices
That's right. I said it.
It is theoretically improbable for someone to like both Star Wars and Star Trek. They are two completely, totally, utterly diametrically opposed franchises. It's even in the names.
But in the case that you might find yourself wanting to venture into the dark side (AKA Star Wars) - just remember that Star Wars and Star Trek are both fundamentally about human nature, and are both - at this point - not only franchises, not only lifestyle choices, nay, but they are entire philosophies of living.
If you're a hardcore fan of Trek, I know you. I see you. I recognize you.
We are kin.
But if you are a hardcore Star Wars fan, I might see you, and respect you and even love you but I don't think I'd be able to marry you or have pets with you or even a houseplant.
Just sayin'.

noel and ricky have star wars vs star trek fights
like noel dressed up as c3po, and even though that isn't exactly what he wanted to wear, i think he cared enough about it to be seen in it. (but yes he'd rather be lola lola, yes he'd rather be princess leia, but lola lola as c3po could be good enough). and ofc cat fucker ricky was a trekkie. no contest.
constance takes noel's side, penny takes ricky's, and ocean knows nothing at first so she acts as a moderator. then ofc she studies them so she can make an accurate judgement every time. mischa doesn't take a side bc that's his boyfriend!!! but it's not like ricky's wrOng, star trek is the better space thing (in his eyes) and he doesn't just want to just lie to ricky! that would be wack (wiggity wiggity wack)

Star Trek and Star Wars fandoms came to be seen as arch-rivals, but that's not how it started out. I was 15 when the first Star Wars came out and caused a sensation. I'd been a Star Trek fan for about 5 years (which doesn't seem like a lot now, but it was a third of my lifetime). Before Star Wars, "sci fi geek" was rarely spoken kindly or affectionately. The popularity of Star Wars changed that overnight, and my Trekkie friends and I welcomed the change. Yes, we thought Star Wars was more space adventure/fantasy and Star Trek was more sci fi, but we understood that people lumped the two not-yet franchises together, and that Star Wars' special-effects movie-theater cachet was making the whole genre, loosely defined, more accessible and appealing to the masses. You know what was no fun at all? People being rude and nasty about your fandom. You know what was nice? That becoming less of a thing. Not to mention the fact that most of us, with the exception of a few curmudgeons, loved Star Wars, for the obvious reason that it was good fun.

Star Trek is objectively better this.
Star Wars is objectively better that.
The real question isn't about themes or quality of storytelling or how you can judge those elements, if only because they're doing very different things with them. Star Trek's all about astronaut explorers on the frontier of human exploration. Star Wars is a mythic space opera with ancient recurring clashes between supernatural good and evil.
The real question is which side would win in a fight if a wormhole opened up and the Empire decided to declare war on the Federation.

Whenever I tell people I’m a trekkie, they always ask me if I hate Star Wars. WRONG!!!
Star Wars and Star Trek are like siblings! There’s no bitter rivalry between them, they’re just inherently different franchises in the same genre.
Star Trek is the older sibling who had a passion for social sciences and eventually went into STEM. Star Wars is the theater kid prodigy that does dramatic writing as a hobby. They’re not beefing with each other, they just have a typical opposite sibling dynamic!

I’m going to make one last plea! If you’re in ANY of these fandoms: The Owl House, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Dragon Prince, Star Wars, Star Wars Rebels, Ninjago, Transformers, Gravity Falls, or any other similar series, please give Star Trek Prodigy a watch! Seriously, just answer the following questions:
Do you like episodic content with an overarching story that builds and builds over time like Avatar?
Do you like the found family trope?
Do you like mysteries and science fiction?
Do you wanna try Star Trek but are daunted by it’s enormous history and legacy?
Do you like characters that grow and change between episodes and become better characters?
Do you like dark plot lines, trauma, and existential dread hidden in a kids show?
Are you feeling like there isn’t anything new to watch now that The Owl House is over?
If you said yes to ANY of these questions then Star Trek Prodigy is the show for you! It’s a CGI Nickelodeon show that gradually introduces you to the Star Trek universe in a gentle way through colorful characters and crazy sci-fi exploits! When a bunch of alien kids enslaved on a mining asteroid stumble upon a Federation Starship, they band together and use the ship to escape their captors. With the help of a holographic mentor, the crew of alien kids learn to work together and become a family. Along the way there’s time traveling shenanigans, deadly alien planets, devious aliens, and an underlying mystery about the ship and how it got stuck on in the mining asteroid to begin with!
Please please PLEASE take a look! It’s such s good show with great writing and easily fills the void we’re in for new animated shows! I promise you, it’s worth the time to check it out!

The latest (ep8 s2) episode of Strange New Worlds is the closest we have to a proper live action 40k show (currently), that being Trench Warfare In Space.
10/10 Foxholes, would shotgun crimes again.
