I've always wanted to ask how you can draw an oc that you know has a bad end/dies in their story. You are stronger than me and I'd love to know what motivates you
I know I'm in a minority on this and most OC creators don't think about their characters' deaths, but it's never bothered me much honestly. The way I see it, if I know how their life starts and how it ends, it's much easier to figure out what happens in the middle.

DC trying to sell Talia as a villain will never not be funny to me because her first appearance(s) were literally just her saving Bruce, usually while undermining her father.

Currently… oc ifying both General Huaiyan and Argens Regia (High Elder of the Xianzhou Zhuming) because I have a multi chap fic planned all about my personal headcanons (I have a lot) for Yingxing’s childhood which will later bleed into some other fics I have planned to write and ah it feels so
So nice
I have a bunch of stuff planned yet again, adding another fic to my list but I really do want to write all of what I have planned, I’m just putting the original planet with the transflormation(?) disease on the back burner while I focus on this
Many plans, it’s going to be fun, sorry that I’m so obsessed with Baby Yingxing and Huaiyan and the Zhuming, I just need to know more and I won’t be able to probably for multiple years from now ToT I need to scratch my itch and fill in the gaps
This will in fact also be where I fill in the gaps in my head for how I see Yingxing’s family having been because I can and I have opinions

Chiyori's experiences and opinions about the Jujutsu system (and by extent the defection of Suguru)
While attending Jujutsu High and working as a sorcerer, I think one of the more prominent observations that made a mark on Chiyori is how little support students and sorcerers received in dealing with struggles of psychological character. Because, well, they simply weren’t offered any, and as far as she’s noted, it's practically every man for themself.
Initially, Chiyori found it quite upsetting, if not surprising, how stark a contrast the lack of mental support was to the cozy, comfortable environment she originated from herself. An environment where her adoptive parents for the most part provided her the basic physical and psychological support she needed to thrive—
Because the first time Chiyori witnessed someone die before her, she was just fourteen and in her first year. No one was there to assist her through the trauma — no assistance was offered. There were several reasons for that, which Chiyori wholly ends up recognizing and acknowledging as she grows up. First being that her issues at that time were being overshadowed by the chaos that followed the defection of the special grade sorcerer Geto Suguru, her former senpai.
Second being that matters of such were heavily underprioritized, if not regarded as unimportant, and continues to be even through her adulthood. Third being that most members of the Jujutsu Community aren’t equipped to deal with these types of issues in the first place — they hardly know how to address their own emotional and mental struggles without encountering frustrations or resorting to direct violence. Because of all that, Chiyori had to deal with the trauma all by herself, which was admittedly tragic on her part, but instead of pointing fingers at others, she understood — as unfortunate as it was — the circumstances that lead to the treatment she (didn't) receive.
Chiyori got over it eventually. I’m not quite sure how. Maybe she never really did in fact, or it happened at later stages in her life, but at least her thoughts were elsewhere entirely during Suguru’s defection. Far away enough for her to not consider the ideals and principles that lead her senpai to renounce the rights of non-sorcerers. Even if she had, I doubt Chiyori would’ve agreed with him — even as a teen she would’ve found Suguru’s visions confusing, flawed and incredibly narrow-minded, if not immature, especially considering how head over heels she was for him much she admired him during her first year.
Most of all, she probably felt — and continues to feel — sad for him. Sad that his integrity shattered. Sad that his negative experiences with non-sorcerers ended up weighing heavier than the positive ones. Sad for anyone who let themselves get coloured — tainted — by the toxic grips of the Jujutsu system that continues to operate on twistingly outdated standards. Standards as well as ethics and morals that dictate how the Jujutsu system should operate internally as well as externally. (Though, if anyone were to ask sorcerer Chiyori, she’d probably say she doesn’t understand any of it. All of it too political for her, really).
It's the lack of compassion of those incumbent of the system that causes her to recoil. Their lack of empathy and by extent their lack of competency to properly reform the current laws to be on level with modern day thoughts on how things should be that cause sorcerer Chiyori — whether she’s entirely aware of it herself of not — to retract herself from the political sphere despite her rank.
To rephrase: I don’t necessarily think Chiyori regrets the whole Geto Suguru incident. Yes, she was upset, confused and disappointed, but she got over it eventually. And after her own personal experiences with the system, (she goes through her own set of trials and tribulations), she acknowledges that it was bound to happen eventually. If not for her senpai, then perhaps for someone else entirely, because after all, Chiyori is — or grows to become — smart enough to understand that emotions are the driving force behind every human action.

I have a question about something I’ve kinda noticed on tumblr. When you write fics about a character like Dabi and then give him multiple different story lines and personalities and stuff, why don’t you just make an original character? I’ve kinda noticed that a lot of writers on here will write about a character but then make them pretty different from what they’re really like in the show/book and change some stuff about them, and it just makes me think if it would be easier to make up a new character at that point so that the writer could make them exactly what they want 🤔 idk if that makes sense I have trouble explaining myself sometimes lol
well i can’t speak for other writers, but for me personally (and i’ve said this before) i enjoy taking a character, breaking them down analytically to their core personality traits, characteristics, values and beliefs, and then throwing them (the character) in a new situation and exploring how i personally believe they’d act/behave/respond to that situation IF they were hypothetically in it. so touya-nii, for example, is how i personally interpret todoroki touya the character would be if he were a big step-brother in our universe (aka not in the my hero universe with all the quirks etc) within the specific narrative i’ve created for him. he retains all of dabi’s core traits and characteristics, and they manifest within how he behaves and interacts with the narrative. bmb dabi, for example, is how i personally believe dabi would act if he fell into true love with someone, etc etc etc.
i really enjoy doing this, because i love analyzing and interpreting my favourite characters in such a way and getting to throw them into situation after situation and explore how i believe they’d react, so that’s why i write so many AUs! it’s a lot of fun and a great creative exercise, and i think a lot of us enjoy getting to examine our favourite characters in this way/context/entirely without constraints and expressing our own unique interpretations of them! i hope this helps anon c: AUs definitely aren’t everyone’s cup of tea and that’s totally okay, but all fan fiction written follows the idea of the author expressing themselves and their thoughts and interpretations surrounding a character and/or an event, whether that’s within canon or not! <3

Emma trying to figure out how to be an older brother when his only examples are
A: the guy four years older than him who was too busy learning everything he needs to be the next Count of the house to really interact with him and
B: the guy two years older than him that mother doesn't want around who father doesn't want to anger mother about any further and who he isn't supposed to play with but lets him anyway even though it's Him who gets in trouble for it and not Emma for asking, who moved out when Emma was 15
And now he's an adult with a 19 year old younger sister who does everything right but never for herself.
Well maybe she should do some things for herself. Maybe he can help with that. (He does. More than anyone can fathom)

After The Return - P2 [The Contract]
'I have been clean for months, you have no leverage Cyrian.' the voice on the other end of the call.
"Then it would be a shame if I had saved your medical records, Dave - oh wait, I did. So if you do not want your wife and the press to find out you snorted so much coke you could fuel a bakery for a year, you will get your act together and do as I say." The Jailer hissed right back, closing the call before he could get an answer. He almost slammed his phone in the kitchen table when he sat down.
It was so tiring.
That had been the seventh call this morning that ended up in the same way: with the politician getting angry and almost screaming at his former colleagues; having to remind them why he was the leader of their party in the first place.
It was so tiring.
They thought that now, he was an easy target without a proper team to do his dirty work. They even tried to use it against him - which only reminded him about the fact he'd have to track each of them down to keep tabs on them. His attention would be spread thinner and thinner.
It was so tiring.
When he heard the sound of the entrance door opening, the Jailer got the fake cast from the counter and placed his still regenerating arm while setting the cloth around his neck to come see who'd step in. By the time he was done with this, the kitchen door was opened by Onyx carrying two bags in each hand and one more under each of his arms.
"What is with all of this?" the politician questioned "I sent you to get yourself lunch, not bring the entire store back."
The Tiefling would put all the bags all of the bags on the counter before putting everything away in the fridge.
"Its' food for the week. You have noth'in here and you told me imma be here for mos' of the day. I ain't goin out each time to eat - specially on your money." He explained, closing the fridge with his hip and opening the freezer.
"Speaking of, I have not gotten you your contract." With that, papers unfolded out of nothing in front of Lazarus - papers that detailed the terms of work for ten years.
Lazarus took a few moments to glance between the words of the page and the Jailer. "..Haven' we made a pact 'lready? Whole "shake my hand and I'll give you powers" thing?"
"That was more of an..." the politician paused to find better words than a hundred and one curses "unofficial and quite frankly desperate act. This is also a legal contract."
"Wait so-" The Tiefling hastily placed all the frozen meats away and closed the door to the freezer so he could take the papers in hand and read through them. "-you're acktually employing me? You weren't just making a play on words with that? Imma get paid and all?"
"Yes I am. No I was not. Yes you will be."
"You got a pen?"

Chapters: 2/5 Fandom: Batman - All Media Types, DCU, DCU (Comics) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Tim Drake/Jason Todd Characters: Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Background & Cameo Characters Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Green Lantern Tim Drake, Blue Lantern Jason Todd, Protective Jason Todd, hand holding, IN SPACE!, Other Additional Tags to Be Added, Past Character Death Series: Part 2 of Light and Space Summary: It’s nearly time for the littlest Lantern to fly free. Jason is having a hard time letting go. This chapter is summarized as "Good Times on Earth" in my notes. That's fairly accurate.
Tim's parents are overjoyed to see him. They didn't know when to expect them, exactly—just a vague 'sometime in the near future.' Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner are the Green Lanterns currently stationed on Earth, and they've kept the Drakes apprised of Tim's situation, but only in a rough, nonspecific sort of way. Something about not wanting to draw too much attention to the matter. Jason isn't sure, but he suspects the Corps has been tiptoeing around the whole child soldier business and hoping no one calls them on it.
Plus, there was someone gunning for heroes' civilian families while they were gone, so that was apparently a concern as well.
"Poor Stephanie," Mrs. Drake says as she explains. "Her mother, you know. It… wasn't pretty. And her father's an absolute good-for-nothing, which made the whole thing even worse."
"Wait, Stephanie's mom is dead?" Tim looks positively gobsmacked at the news. "Did Bruce— I mean…"
"She stayed with us for a little while," Mr. Drake says, sounding gruff while his eyes shine slightly. "She was only a few months short of eighteen and we had the space. She kept looking for you even after other people gave up. We were more than happy to help."
Tim blinks, obviously surprised. "Did you, um. Did you make her stop—"
"If she's no longer Robin, that's not down to anything we said," Mrs. Drake says, some strange emotion Jason can't place flitting across her face.

not just ‘to’ the world in s3
ngl as much as i want to see the boys be bigshots in s3 (like fine tv version crowley was probably Someone Important, am willing to accept this and see where they go with it!! i unreservedly want fully self-actualized aziraphale using his position to gut heaven from the inside!! the shit they can do together at max levels of love wow ok let it rip!!!!)
but. i like that the first armageddon’t featured a group effort of mostly random humans. the theme of plucky kids taking down personifications of humanities’ major ills etc etc. ‘ordinary’ citizens coming together to save their big beautiful messed up world -- two of which happen to be crowley and aziraphale -- because this is their home, these are the people, that they love
and so i want humanity to truly contribute to s3, to be written well, to not just be cameos or foils for epic a/c romance, to not just exist unknowingly as doom approaches
the big one: all of us versus all of them, the book said -- tbh i can take or leave the versus part, but i do want to keep all of us, our myriad humanness, having a conscious hand to play in shaping the upcoming events instead of the boys handing earth salvation on a platter
i truly get that tv gomens is different and ngl even from the book a/c were by far the most compelling characters to me but the Celebration of Humanity of it all was just..... the intent was very lovely and very important and i really want to see it done WELL in this presumably the grand finale actually

Why have you stopped writing was born to lead?
I… didn’t want to answer this question. But it seems like you misunderstood me a little, because I’ve never said I’m stopping to write WBTL. It’s on hiatus now, it’s not abandoned.
Anyway, I admit I had a lot more dramatic~ answer to this question in my head when I first saw it, but after all I realized the main reason I’m stepping away from publishing the chapters is… life.
There are too many external factors that prevent me from being as productive as I’d like to be and given the fact I’m a lot more emotional than I think I am (damn it), I know I’ll be way too harsh on myself for not updating often (I update almost every month now, which, I think, is often enough, given how long my chapters are).
But I write this fic for joy only. And I want it to bring me joy only. The way to achieve it is to write it for myself. But I want to assure you that the fic is not abandoned. I just stop publishing the chapters until the entire story is finished.
I have no idea when I finish it. But for now, I just hope I’ll manage to do it.
I’m actually on hiatus now (and no, this is not some summer vacation hiatus, as I said I won’t publish the chapters until I finish the story, so it’s going to be quite a long lasting hiatus) and I won’t write anything for at least a month (unless I’ll get hit by some extremely cool idea that I’d want to write down right away), because I have some big plans in terms of outline and editing.
But that’s actually a good thing, because it means WBTL is not escaping from my head. If you want to send me my characters for the OCs ask games, or give me suggestions for the story, or simply talk about it with me, please do. I won’t mind. On the contrary, I’ll be extremely happy to know that any of you are still interested.
I hope it clears things up and you understand why I’ve made this decision.
#Ask me anything#Was Born To Lead#Alright I admit there are several reasons why I’m doing this but the one I elaborated in the answer is the main one#But you know if WBTL was a TV show those 21 chapters probably would be season 1 so it makes sense there’s a hiatus afterwards#(especially since it has quite a logical ending: the main characters’ (Gabe and Valerio) arcs are finished#yet there’s still something to look forward)#and the rest of the chapters make up season 2 because I *think* I’ve already reached the mid of the fic#Or not#Either way I know how to finish all the storylines I started so that’s already a good thing#Valerio cannot run from his past forever so he’ll have to face it and it leads to the new dynamic between him and Gabe#Ángel has a family drama and finds a new hobby that’s actually interesting to him unlike fencing#Frida keeps solving the hideout mystery and it gets to the point when she HAS to return to Avalor#Matías keeps facepalming after every stupid thing Valerio does and meets Gabe#Emilio works on his inner issues because he has way too many and sort of finds his peace#Roberto and Blanca have to meet their old friends and protect Gabe from the possible danger (and there also will be their backstory)#The man in the cloak a mysterious figure call them whatever you want keeps being the main source of intrigue in the fic#And finally Gabe#Oh my goodness I have so much prepared for him#which is obvious he’s the main character after all#The closer I am to the end of the fic the closer I am to expose my EoA related Gabe headcanons and I’m excited#For now everything I have for Gabe is made up exclusively for the fic because I need to write about something before I get to the main poin#I don’t know why I’m writing all of this but at least you can be sure lack of ideas for the fic isn’t the reason for my hiatus#All I need is a peaceful environment so I can bring all those ideas to life#Oh also now when I have free time I’m thinking of rewatching the entire show (EoA of course) to refresh my memory#specifically in terms of lore because as for Gabe I already know him like the back of my hand#It’s all for writing reasons yes
