big spoilers for new info as of tonight's episode but eye am soooooooo curious about the extent to which galicaea is still opposed to cassandra in some way. obviously in her high elven form she was trying to get kristen as a follower rather than have her continue to investigate the nightmare king and find cassandra, like she was NOT trying to put her thumb on the scale in that way. and from the sound of it she and sol basically respectively absorbed/dissolved the domains that once belonged to cassandra and ankarna through numerous calculated efforts of their clerics and evangelists, with sol and helio acquiring exclusive association with the sun and summer, and galicaea acquiring exclusive worship of the wood elves and becoming a goddess defined by certainty and eternity, driving away doubt. so is galicaea still playing the game even after being "restored" by wolfsong, trying to keep rage and doubt out of the world that is so well set up for her. was she ever really restored or was it doomed to be a cosmetic overhaul after the high elves got behind it again. like how christian fundamentalists dress like hipsters and open really trendy and successful coffee shops

Anywho! Soft OC Ask!

🌹 Where in the world does your OC feel most at home? Is there any reason why? If it’s not the place they were born, where were they born? Is there a certain somebody that makes them feel at home where ever they may be? What does home mean to them?

Killian is a particularly interesting case for this question because he was a stowaway, and is still currently figuring out where he even belongs in the world. (He thinks it's kicking the ass of his older brother and proving to his family he's worthy of upholding their high-skill mercenary tradition, but as his player I'll tell you that he's wrong lol)

Killian feels the most at home when working a forge, crafting weaponry, or tending to his own. It gives him quiet time to think and focus. And, while he would never say it, he enjoys being able to contribute to the well-being and safety of the crew, and being appreciated by the ship's engineer, which isn't exactly something he got at home.

Speaking of home, he was born in Ellara! Which in the campaign setting is a country of mostly adventurers, and serves as a demilitarized zone. I haven't actually picked a particular town, since he's my backup character in case I can't play Tiarnan.

Killian probably doesn't really know what home means to him in any substantial way, if you asked him he'd give you the dictionary definition, and if pushed for a more meaningful definition then he'd probably make an excuse and leave.

Thank you for the ask~! Killian's such an inexperienced adventurer, and also pretty immature emotionally (aka pettiest bitch in the universe) so trying to drill down into more serious stuff with him is fun.

spent hours in character creation making my WoL a brother, and now i want to rewrite her whole story from the beginning with her brother at her side bc my wife asked me "are they adventuring together?" and it was like well no but they fucking should be what the fuck

OOC: Given that Sylvan is half-Japanese, half-French, but grew up in France, he probably learned French as his mother tongue/birth language by default (especially since his Japanese birth father Yuiichi abandoned the family pretty early on for plot reasons in Yakitate!! Japan).

Given that Sylvan moved to Japan and worked enough to get the General Manager position in Pantasia, however, he absolutely must've passed Japan's mandatory language tests to get the position - probably both the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) and the Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT).

For those unaware, the JLPT's results are used to assess job seekers' credentials and evaluate employees for promotion and recognition. They're also split into several levels, from N5 (beginner) to N1 (the highest level to my best understanding). JLPT N1 or N2 certification can apparently help foreigners receive preferential immigration treatment in some circumstances, too.

Given that Sylvan was in a higher-ranked position such as General Manager at Pantasia by the current events of Yakitate!! Japan, he absolutely must've passed, at minimum, N2 certification for the JLPT. He might even have N1 certification for all we know (meaning that he's probably near-fluent in Japanese by the present events of the series).

Given that the General Manager position deals with a lot of business decision-making and related duties, Sylvan likely also took the BJT. Unlike the JLPT, the BJT focuses on measuring a person's practical communicative ability to utilize and respond to given information, ability to express thoughts and opinions, and promoting ideas or projects to people of different backgrounds and expertise. As far as I know it's not split into levels like the JLPT, but it's still pretty important to have.

As for how Sylvan kept up with his French post-moving to Japan and learning Japanese...my headcanon for that is that he keeps in touch with Sophie and practices his French written communication and speaking via phone calls and/or messages to her.

i get why normal dnd language mechanics aren’t used in bg3 but god i wish they were for kaya’s sake only bc she canonically knows 6 languages and half of them are so random… i want the party to be in an ancient tomb and everyone’s failing checks like “this is written in a language that hasn’t been used in thousands of years whoever would be able to understand it is long gone” and kaya reads it no problem

DM: It's pretty sparse in here, they tried to make it nice there's a nice runner down the aisle. There's fine platter ware on the altar that has, again, basic food offered. There probably would be something of the Veiled Serpent but I'm trying to decide what that would be... It's probably just the symbol is embossed on the podium where the two Yuan-Ti are currently talking and on the altar underneath the dragon. Nathaniel: Cool. I'm gonna have him do what I do whenever I'm in a church and he's gonna  look up at the ceiling. DM: Oh, alright. It is a wooden ceiling with rafters. It's pretty simple but it is bolted in a way where Vanessa and Lussier the priest are standing, their hissing does kind of echo. It's kind of eerie actually. Their voices carrying to the back of the chapel and... *to self* would there be a skylight? Probably not. No probably not. Yeah, it's a pretty simple church building. Nathaniel: That's fair. DM: But yeah, if you look around long enough you could find these serpentine design work in the filigree of some of the clockwork and in some of the etchings around the windows and things. Nathaniel: Neat. DM: Yeah. Eudora: Are there any materials like hymnals, that sort of thing lying around? Or tucked away in the backs of pews? DM: There probably are, yeah. Thought it's not a thick book of hymnals, but it is these well-loved pamphlets that you can kind of thumb through. One half has this parse to parse Draconic, you could figure out what the symbols probably should be and on the opposite page a Common translation. Eudora: Interesting. I'm gonna take the opportunity to practice my Draconic. Yeah. DM: Yeah. Eudora: To test myself like how much can I accurately translate or how close is my interpretation to the translation on the opposite page. DM: Yeah, you can easily sit there and entertain yourself with that. Hunt, anything? Hunt: Well she is inside the chapel and I guess she's just keeping an eye on Vanessa. DM: Okay. Moriarty (OOC): I have a question for Hunt. Hunt (OOC): Ye? Moriarty (OOC): Out of character, can you read their lips? Hunt (OOC): If they're speaking Yuan-Ti, no she cannot 'cause she can't understand the language. Moriarty (OOC): Gotcha. I forgot what languages you knew and didn't know. Hunt (OOC): Definitely not Yuan-Ti. DM: Unfortunately, yeah, unfortunately you'd have to cast Tongues if you want to understand. Hunt (OOC): Yeah, she can only speak Common, Infernal, and now Elvish. some more specific headcanons from my appalachian!sylvaire musings

sandra lynn is an amazing quilter from a technical standpoint, but she almost never finishes them so mordred has bunches of half- or mostly-finished quilts laying around, the only two she ever successfully finished were the quilt for baxter's stable and fig's crib

(adaine convinces sandra lynn to teach her how to quilt so she can finish them all, and adaine absolutely thrives off the meticulous nature of it)

ivy learns to hide her sylvan accent by binge watching hours of the real housewives of bastion city (she forces oisin to watch with her)

kristen learned to clog when she was little (because the deep south looooves clogging) and while she isn't very good at it because of her dex, it's actually one of the most organic ways she connects with rangers and druids working to restore the NMK forest while working on her church

music is one of the few things fig and sanda lynn don't clash over at all, and fig eventually drops a blue-grass inspired ep (sandra lynn cries the first time she hears it and every time fig plays any of it live)

ivy is the only one of the rat grinders who can tailor and sew clothes and any time they have her fix something for them, she gives it back with added traditional embroidery

sandra lynn has a reputation for being very superstitious among the other rangers (because so much of her family grew up on the edges of the NMK forest), but they trust her judgement more than anyone else out in the mountains and also know if something genuinely disturbs her while they're out patrolling, it's time to go

ivy goes back to sylvaire the summer after junior year and has to genuinely reconcile the fact that she tried to help try to kill the person who restored her people's goddess (also i think she retrains her fighter levels that summer, but i go back and forth between druid and paladin)

also i think sandra lynn and ivy are the only people in their immediate circle who can drive stick, which doesn't really have anything to do with appalachia but is just kinda a freebie for you all

After their adventures with the elves and sylvan, Jaskier and geralt travel until the early evening before setting up camp. (Well Geralt sets up camp while jaskier "helps" ). Geralt wolf's down his supper and then broods in front of the fire.

Jaskier finishes his meal at a more sedate pace and watches the witcher thoughtfully. Finally jaskier speaks, gently, but firmly enough that Geralt pays attention.

"I know those crossed arms are supposed to be a signal that you don't want company.

But unfortunately for you, I take it as a signal. Its of someone who needs support.

You might not think so right now, and believe that as a witcher you are meant for a life of lonelines, but at any point you could have had roach gallop away and left me behind. So i don't think you really want to get rid of me.

And it's fine. After seeing your life for an afternoon i can understand why you are so guarded. But we have time for you to learn to trust me, and understand that my offer for friendship is sincere. All I ask is you give me a chance, the same way you gave those elves a chance, for a better future

Some cozy warm clothes for dudes. Using the 3t2 Fair Folk Sylvan mesh that Yuxi converted. I really like trying to see what I can 'add' or change to meshes without actually editing the mesh. So this was a fun project, I think I learned some things from it (Especially that fur @_@)

The colors ended up a little dark. And I only recolored the jacket because otherwise It'd take me an eternity to decide on color combos.
