I’ve accepted the show is most probably over for good. 

I’ve also accepted I get to headcanon anything passed the last episode.  So, that’s good.

But I just wonder.  We followed the hints and clues about Keeley being bi, and Trent and Colin being gay.  And we were right.

So how were we so wrong about Ted and Rebecca? 

I wasn’t conditioned to expect them to get together.  It’s my first het ship since before I knew what shipping was.  I’m talking Dempsey & Makepeace, here.  I’m old. (Fwiw, they’re still married irl.)  I’ve been shipping queer ships for decades before I even knew I was.  I picked up on the subtext for these ships, like everyone else. 

With these two, I didn’t ship them right away, at all.  It wasn’t until 13th September that I thought they might be meant to be endgame.  I started shipping them in the void between season 2 and 3, and picking up on things during my re-watches.  But even then, if they were just friends, so be it. 

So were we actually wrong? 

That kitchen scene, if taken at face value, is one hell of an ooc scene for the show, as it’s just so mean.  The Bantr fake-out, I knew it wasn’t Ted Rebecca was messaging.  The cut to Ted was so obvious, it was too obvious.  I didn’t know who, but I knew it wouldn’t be Ted.

It seems obvious, with the whole gas leak explanation, that it isn’t what first impressions suggested.  But maybe that is too obvious, too.  (I’ve said too, too many times.)

Rebecca with a messy updo and make-up from the day before, with a lot of leg on show, and not adjusting her robe until Beard appeared.  That, plus her coyness, biting her thumb nail, and the way Ted was looking at her.  It’s all there, but when Beard shows up, we’re meant to think we were wrong.

So was it a fake-out, that wasn’t? 

Beard apologies for the noise, but it’s not until Jane says they’re welcome for the noise, that they look at each other and smile.  Beard sure didn’t, but maybe Jane heard them making some noise, too.

TL;DR - They fucked.

To preface all of this I DID NOT MEAN TO TAKE THIS LONG AND THE LENGTH IS DEFINITELY NOT RELATED TO IT. I just completely got lazy and as such, forgot to answer it.

But okay tl;dr: They do but its dependent on the ship. NJ is a "lucky" one who, because she's still a ship that didn't sink, isn't really affected too much. At least what we've been told far (And honestly my HC too but I'll explain below)

SO YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND something about basically 99% of the characters in this game with a few outliers who bend the rules. For a game that tends to break the rules often about "historical accuracy" for the sake of making money (And selling incredibly overpriced L2D skins) the developer Manjuu once and awhile actually does a rather good job at giving characters who you would just think are like walking "waifus" an odd amount of characterization.

Practically every shipgirl in this game is (or at least in some capacity) is aware of what's going to happen to them in actual history. Whether they sunk during a war or something else entirely is dependent on who it is. Think of it almost like a premonition in a sense, although obviously some characters who's wreckage have never been found or other things entirely are other cases.

To put it in perspective a bit and an example the IJN Nagato says this...

Which is a reference to the fact that, by the end of WW2, the actual ship was used as a testing grounds for nuclear weapons. The character itself (Nagato not the ship) also keeps those same sentiments as well, not exactly enjoying fighting but knowing that it needs to happen in the case of the AL story because...well you know the bad guys are screwing everything.

Beyond their own lore reasons I do feel that every character in some capacity is definitely scared of sinking. Not that they are thinking about it 24/7 and for obvious reasons that I don't think I need to bring up but you get the idea. Sinking means your at the bottom of the ocean and being "dead". I could go on forever analyzing every character in this game especially my favorites and what they fear.

...I MEAN AS FINE AS SHE COULD BE BUT YEAH. There are other characters that I write that have certainly seen better days and definitely would apply to your question more with the fear scenario but beyond that NJ is much more saner and not gungho crazy like some of the others.

So, music has always been important to me. I used to save up to buy cassette tapes, then CDs when I got older. I have always loved and listened to a wide range of music. Looking back, (now knowing I'm autistic) I can now see that I've always used music/lyrics to try and understand the human condition. Music has always acted as a way for me to understand emotions/experiences.

My entire writing process goes about like this:

I hear a song and go 'Oh god that's [insert gay blorbos here]!'

I put that ONE song on repeat for hours, until I feel each note, each lyric, in my bones. I become one with the singer

The words flow from my fingertips as my interpretation of trying to capture the essence of a song within the context of my ships

That's why pretty much all of my fics have titles that are songs (and I have now linked each fic to that song for the people who want the Authentic Experience)

All of this is to say: I am SO curious what other authors (especially neurodivergent authors) listen to when they write!! I have three serrate playlists for my three main ships. I also have playlists that the 'characters' created, which sort of helps me get in their head (dunno if that makes sense to neurotypicals, but tbfh this post wasn't for you)

The Naruto 20th annivesary happened and it changed me.

Oh my God. I need to rant about this because I AM NOT CAPABLE OF BEING NORMAL ABOUT IT.

I know, I know. Everyone who has seen the 20 year anniversary special in SP’s youtube channel is overwhelmed with nostalgia right now and I can assure you I’m no different. But what makes me feel so over the fucking moon is that the reanimated moments are mostly between Naruto and Sasuke. 

Again, I know Kishimoto has already stated that Naruto is about Naruto (of course) and Sasuke, progressing as a “pair”. Now even though I love SasuNaru and believe that “pair” might have a certain innuendo to it, the beauty of their relationship is that you can interpret it in more ways than just a romantic one. Platonic, maybe? Sure go ahead, each one of us has a POV and that’s okay. However, this 10 minute video makes it perfeclty clear that they’re each other’s most treasured/beloved/important person. YOU CANNOT CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT THIS. 

Sasuke and Naruto might not have many moments sharing the same page or screen time during Shippuuden, and yet you can still feel how much they influence each other without even trying. When “Sign” by Flow began to play I swear to god I almost fucking lost it because I LOVE THIS ARC SO MUCH FOR SO MANY REASONS - Naruto finally being recognized by this village, his fucking epic entrance, Minato finally appearing are a few examples that come to mind. But the main reason is the fact that during this arc, Naruto finally begins to understand Sasuke’s motives and why he feels the way he does. Which leads us to the whole Romeo and Juliet speech about “shouldering the burden of your hatred and dying with you”.

I don’t care if you ship SNS, NH, SS (actually I do care if you ship those two but that’s a whole different issue) or whatever YOU CANNOT CONVINCE THAT THEY AREN’T EACH OTHER’S MOST IMPORTANT PERSON (or their “one and only” as Sasuke said lol). 

My only complaint is that I wish “Diver” was added. The whole opening sequence, lyrics and the way it fits into Sasuke and Naruto’s relationship is just so perfect  *chef’s kiss* but I guess since this masterpiece was wasted on a filler arc, maybe it wouldn’t make sense. 

I’m sorry this rant is a mess and might have butchered english language as I’m not a native speaker but as you can see I CAN’T BE NORMAL ABOUT THEM. My boys deserve so much better than that thing named Boruto.

I wanted to talk about this a bit ago but my brain broke until I was updating my pages again. On the matter of ship exclusivity while I do have that set 'three max' I also wanted to say I'm totally chill being exclusive so it's not something anyone has to be afraid of asking for so long as I don't already have that ship with another person. I love exploring the dynamics between different interpretations of characters but they do not have to be purely romantic and if somebody were to want to be the only version of that muse that I write that sort of stuff with that's fine.

Like- example, I have two ships with Aventurine, if another Aventurine wanted to ship with me but wanted to be exclusive, that wouldn't be possible because I already have two others. However if I were to ship with say a Gallagher and they wanted to be exclusives, I could do that because I don't have any others who I'm shipping with.

tl;dr I'm totally chill for single-ship so long as I don't already have multiples of said ship thanks for coming to my ted talk I've just been thinking about it for a minute

but my point is is that i do view pesterquest mostly as canon bcuz i rlly rlly like pesterquest and in pesterquest rose says this:

I hope you don’t mind me replying to the post you made about shipping just one final time. Now that I slept and my brain is no longer losing IQ points, I do want to apologize for the misunderstanding of your post; I see where the issue happened and it wasn’t my intent to hijack your post at all, many many begging your pardons if it seemed like that!

Your very first post where you were talking about shipping shyness and shame, I have to agree on that. Looking through a lot of rules through a lot of blogs, I’ve come across quite a few that has said “if you are pro-shipping do not even bother interacting with me” and it threw me for a loop. Like you, I love shipping in all its forms and there is such an amazing time to be had between muses and muns when interacting and fleshing out a dynamic and seeing where things end up, seeing this “don’t talk to me if you like to ship” thing was really startling.

Shyness I understand, but wow where did this shame come from? I understand shipping isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and I’m perfectly fine with that, but other people making you feel bad for WANTING to ship really just blows my mind? I’m not sure how new this issue is, as years and years ago when I was on here, this weird shame for wanting to ship didn’t exist in the rpc.

When I shared my story about a past experience, brain didn’t convey itself properly to you like I thought it did, in that I am very much a loving of shipping and if I was closed off and shy or ashamed of wanting to ship with that mun and muse, I wouldn’t have the great memories we made together nor this unique crossover pairing you’ll NEVER find anywhere. (Again, many apologies if it seemed like I was attempting to hijack your message, I thought I was actually adding support and encouragement and didn’t realize it wasn’t coming across this way.) I didn’t mean to insinuate unintended shipping as normal, just more as an exciting surprise!

Being open about wanting to ship is truly BETTER. Communication between muns is actually something I wish happened MORE because from experience, not talking to each other makes interactions more difficult in the long run and can make roleplaying with each other feel kind of awkward and stiff since you don’t know what to expect out of each other. And people who shame those who are open to having relationships with other muses need to stop; I don’t know why this became a thing at all.

As you said: “shipping is amazing no matter WHAT & so long as it's fun for everyone involved” and this is so hella true and I really just don’t know why brain traveled down the path it did and honestly made me sound like a real asshat; talk about embarrassing. My internet seriously needs to be taken away when I’m sleep deprived to avoid making a spectacle over myself on something I wholeheartedly agree with.

Also, I realized I didn’t read most of your tags and it reminds me tags are important to keep an eye on as whole explanations and conversations can occur there. I feel like I would’ve done this conversation better drunk somehow than just being tired. Again, canNOT apologize any more for opening my mouth and inserting foot.

I do hope people will take something from our exchange and get more bold and shake off the shame for wanting to ship. Shipping is just another fun aspect to be had from roleplaying and there is nothing wrong with wanting it.

And as their relationship unfolds, we get a closer look at who they truly are. They aren't just these one-dimensional stereotypes of some bamf chick and some nerdy soft guy, because throughout their journey we learn a few more things. Important things.

We learn that Annie can be scared.

We learn that she can be kind.

We learn that she can be lonely.

And the same goes with Armin. He's not just some useless, fragile boy that he had always thought himself to be.

He can be dangerous.

He can be cunning.

He can be brave.

And them being together???? It makes sense. It just makes sense.

Armin is the only person Annie lets herself be vulnerable with, and the first time we ever see it? It's with him. It's with Armin.

And similarly, when Armin is with her? That's when he steps it up.

Just. God, I love these two so much and they're so perfect for each other. They bring out the best in one another and complement the other perfectly.

And the way this very last panel is portrayed? It honestly makes me tear up because it shows us just how far along these two have come. Annie looking straight at him, allowing herself to just be. Armin lax and comfortable around her, but also confident—he knows what he wants now and he'll be damn sure he's going to get it.

We may not have gotten a kiss or even a had-holding scene, but their interactions in canon says more than enough. It's just there and it speaks for itself. We didn't even need the confirmation, EVERYBODY just KNEW. That's how powerful this dynamic was, up until the very end.

tl;dr I'm never gonna shut up about Aruani, The Only Straight Ship In AOT That Actually Matters, and y'all can fucking FITE ME

What’s the appeal of shipping fremione?

you know, i'm not really sure how to answer this question.

(actually, the tl;dr of this is just "because it's narratively interesting and also fun!")

do you like tall one/small one dynamics? fremione!

what about jock/nerd dynamics? fremione!

head versus heart? fremione!

what about enemies to lovers? hermione's canonical antagonism with the twins, at your service!

what about a messy "i fell in love with my boyfriend's brother" sibling love triangle? hilarious, and also could totally be fremione!

from a simple storytelling perspective, they're just interesting.

i have more ideas for fremione on a given day than i've ever had for almost any other ship, ever, because they're suited to stories of all sorts.

and, okay, admittedly part of the appeal comes from getting to save one of my favorite, most underrated characters in the series from an untimely death and giving him a long, ludicrously happy life while also shattering j.k.'s ridiculous pair the spares r*mione ending and coming up with something more interesting and unexpected.

because the reality is, we don't all fall in love with our childhood best friends or our mortal enemies who have undergone extensive redemption arcs (blows kiss to my first ship, dr*mione). things just aren't that neat and tidy, and that's okay!

fremione, for me, is fun because it is messy and slightly illogical. i mean, what do a business-minded, (allegedly) womanizing prankster and a bookworm war hero even have in common? what do they talk about? how do they get together? all of that is up to you!!

so, beyond the above—sorry for rambling on about the sheer fun of writing them—my friend said something to me about the twins once and it just stuck with me:

when we were kids, we were all about the main gang and a few other choice characters, and that was all fine and good. harry, draco, whoever. they took up all this energy and screentime, we couldn't be blamed! but as we got a little older, we realized... fuck that noise, that's so much drama!! what we actually want for our girl—for the character we've cared about for so long—is a nice, stable guy who will make her laugh, show her his wand (wink), and generally be cool to hang out with.

(but who could also theoretically take over the world with her in a second flat. because, oh my god, the twins are so weirdly powerful!! in the books, especially?? that shit is wild. voldemort is truly lucky they didn't put their minds to kicking his ass in, like, their third year. but i digress...)

idk, i don't have some concise, persuasive canon reason why i ship it. mostly, the idea got put into my head and i couldn't seem to remove it, because it was just so damn nice and soft and pleasant to think about! and now it's one of my all time favorite ships, because it adapts well to so many types of stories.

Dear creators of gifs/edits,

I have a lot of appreciation for you but please, please please please

Tag your work with proper tags that other ppl use. Tag the name of the movie/character/ship/show without adding anything to the tag, don't mix it with "edit" or "x:..." And other stuff like that. Bc people don't filter those.

This is beyond just getting spoilers, this is also about not getting triggered or just simply avoiding stuff i don't want to see on my dash.

I have seen so many posts of gif edits where the creator didn't try and tag the name of the movie at all. No indication. Same with any other edit with characters.

Now, i have my filters and yet still i can't safely enjoy my dash because people don't even try to tag. I can't filter those things if you don't use simple tags that everyone uses. I can't predict all of your editing special tags.

I really don't understand why (some of) y'all don't tag usual tags, even for yourselves! Bc it will help ppl find your edits!

So please, besides all your editing tags, also tag stuff simply. Talk like us commoners for a bit.

It's really not a lot to add a couple of tags.

TL;DR when you make an edit/gif post tag it with tags everyone uses so people's filters will fucking work.

Last Names Merlin Might Have in the Modern Day That Aren’t “Emrys”

Aldor—from Ealdor, derived from when he used to call himself ‘Merlin of/from Ealdor.’

Sarcer/Corser/Sawyer—Some butchering of ‘Sorcerer,’ derived from a time when magic was legal + accepted and Merlin was known as “Merlin the sorcerer.” Like how there were a lot of blacksmiths all called Smith.

Camlett/Kamlot/etc.—Same principle as Aldor/Ealdor: he ended up living so long in Camelot that he started introducing himself as ‘Merlin of/from Camelot’ or possibly he just became known by that name by other people.

Merlin—he takes a more common first name like Kevin and signed up for some official papers with Merlin as his last name. It was less weird as a last name than a first. Alternatively, someone in like, the Victorian era, asked what his name was and he said "Merlin," and they assumed that was his last name because everyone in the Victorian era addressed each other by their last names upon meeting.

Arthur keeps Merlin around from the start because hes like, wow this funky little dude has no manners whatsoever and woooooooo the Audacity of him. And hes amused because he's like, okay so my father might have assigned me the literal worst servant ever but also this is fucking hilarious like how many times is this literal servant going to call me a Prat? i dunno i wanna count. If it gets annoying i'll just fire him or something but like honest i'm very invested in How Far He Will go like literally this is so novel nothing has ever happened to me like this? And then later he's like, actually im Endeared by Merlin now so theres no way i can get rid of him. He's my idiot servant no you can't have him, hes one of a kind because he insults me and i think that's neat. And also there's like kind of this element i think there Arthur is like, I can Trust Merlin. Other servants are all formal and pleasant, and he's drawn to Merlin the same way he is to Gwen once Gwen like, goes off on him about being rude. I feel like Arthur has spent his whole life surrounded by people who won't tell him the truth because it's all Protocol and Manners For The Prince and to have someone who just insults him to his face like, yeah he's insulted, but he also feels like he's getting the Truth from Merlin and therefore can trust him more than like, any other servant who could be hiding contempt or evil behind their practiced pleasantries. He feels like he knows Merlin and therefore can trust him, because if Merlin is so stupid as to just insult him all the time and steal food, there's no way Merlin is hiding anything from him, right? And when he says "good servants are hard to come by," I think he mainly means servants he could trust with his life and shit. And Merlin fits that bill because Merlin is so candid. Which is partly why he's so betrayed ("youve been lying to me all this time") when he finds out about Merlin's magic. Thanks for coming to my TED talk

I ship Merlin and Lancelot so hard now??? They're so tender??? You cannot tell me Lancelot sacrificed himself for Arthur or Gwen ffs the man was standing shit-still as Arthur approached the veil. And I just have to say. What pisses me off as a bisexual woman is that TikTok.

This is the Woke version of ‘my wife is the ol’ ball and chain, doesn’t it suck to be married,’ jokes. It’s not funny. Your queerness is not negated or tarnished by opposite-gender attraction, dating men isn’t inherently worse than dating women.

Here's a quick little introduction for myself in the form of my Meet the Artist. If you have any questions for me, I'll be happy to answer that though this blog is more of a small alcove for me to just post shit in to be honest. My head is way too full of things I wanna say and I'm a bit tired of giving myself TED talks in my bathroom at 4 AM about how, really, Pokemon Best Wishes was a trainwreck and here's how I would rewrite the entirety of it. Posting it will make me feel less like a crazy person I guess.

RWBY Fandom Bullying & Harassment; Addressing the LC/FG controversy and Phoenix/Night bashing

Fandom culture on Twitter is incredibly flawed. The RWBY fandom in specific has displayed such inconsideration and blatant apathy to people’s emotions. Specific RWBY headcanons and ship preferences gain such a following and popularity that anything deviating from those is shamed and ridiculed. The online community on Twitter has created a culture that promotes and enforces bullying others for their sexuality, gender identity and (relation)ship preferences. By dismissing someone’s opinion, invalidating their headcanons and ship preferences, in favor of our own or more popular preferences, we continue to divide the RWBY fandom.

While I would not go so far as to call it heterophobia, as I feel the term directly undermines the severity, significance and prevalence of homophobia, I do agree that the culture the RWBY fandom promotes is counterproductive and harmful. The events that have occurred from the LC/FG controversy as well as the harassment CRWBY has received is inexcusable. The literal cyberbullying that has occurred to RWBYtubers such as Phoenix/NIght for simply showing they have a ship preference or even talking about a ship that deviates from the popular RWBY ships, regardless of supporting it, is appalling. 

The RWBY fandom on Twitter seems to have a clear disconnect between headcanon and truth. The narrative that is promoted by popular Twitter RWBY fans in favor of their own headcanons is a false one. RWBY fans who assumed Clover and Qrow would be a couple, that Clover is gay and would be gay representation confused headcanon for truth. People allowed their preference to cloud their judgment and their assumptions have directly harmed others. 

There very well may be queer romantic subtext between Clover and Qrow interactions. However, this was not intentional by CRWBY. 

CRWBY is not and should not be held responsible for how people interpret the show. 

Usually headcanons either deviate from canon or assumes something that hasn’t been explicitly stated in canon or by the team creating the media. Headcanons are merely preferences and beliefs/opinions we have about a character. However, headcanons are just that: opinions. 

Headcanons can have truth in that we relate to the headcanons (such as having a headcanon that a character is gay because you are gay and relate to them, of which I have many hcs like this). However, most RWBY fans seem to confuse themselves and believe their headcanons are the ultimate truth. 

For instance, many people headcanon Yang as a lesbian. This headcanon is widely held and popular in the RWBY fandom. People who deviate from this popular headcanon and hc her as bi or pan are then ridiculed for their opinion. (It is incredibly frustrating to see people call this hc lesbophobic, as it is NOT, they simply have a different headcanon from you). It is this disconnect between reality and personal narrative/opinion that we hurt and exclude RWBY fans. 

It is also this disconnect that is partially responsible for the misunderstanding of FC/LG. It is hardly a fault of CRWBY, in my opinion, that people misinterpreted and misunderstood CRWBY’s writing. Perhaps they should have clarified Clover was not gay early on once they saw how people people assumed he was. However, they couldn’t have predicted the backlash they would receive when LC/FG didn’t become canon, let alone at Clover’s death. 

Additionally, people believe their ship preferences to be the only valid opinion. The flack Phoenix/Night has received from stating he liked Robyn & Qrow and would like to see them become a couple was stupid. Someone liking a m/f ship does not make them “het” and someone’s m/f ship is just as valid as your m/m and f/f ship.

As previously stated, I am not calling this “heterophobia”, however, if the role’s were reversed, the behavior of fans who ridiculed his ship preference would not pass. I am a lesbian, I like many m/f, m/m, f/f ships, I also liked LC/FG. However, I know my ships are not the only valid ships. I headcanon Yang as a lesbian, however, I do not ridicule others who have different headcanons because I know my headcanon is not the only valid headcanon.

TL;DR: CRWBY is not responsible for the misinterpretation and misunderstanding of LC/FG. People shouldn’t be ridiculed for having a different ship preference or headcanon than the popular, widely held/accepted ones. RWBY fans need to remember headcanons are not truth and our personal headcanons are not the only valid headcanons. RWBY fans need to remember our personal ship preferences are not the only valid ship preferences.
