Hey y'all! Pie is delayed for both "bad physical spoons day" and "my dad and I did not coordinate oven usage time well" reasons, and I can't work any more on the quilt today (I got three out of seven stars quilted but then I had to sit on the floor for a while), so instead I am going to trace out pattern pieces onto sheets of paper for future scanning and sharing purposes! Let me know if there are any specific patterns of mine you'd like me to share, and can someone please remind me about the possibility of grasshopper plushies in a few days? Edit: I reblogged the post with the baby grasshoppers I want to make into plushies (I know there's a different word for baby grasshoppers that isn't babies but they sure look like baby grasshoppers)

Maya Zapata is Tenoch's best friend. They have been friends for over 12+ years. The fact that people try and bully Maya is totally wrong. All of Tenoch's friends have kept quiet about this whole drama, and that is not a coincidence. Tenoch can fight his own battle. Seeing the comments on that Maya post was very disheartening. People demand Maya speak, but so many of the fans here have never written one post to support Tenoch. They only post gifs and never retweet the evidence. The hypocrisy is very loud

How am I expected to react when Maya bullied Luz Valdez online (on Twitter), let the whole rebozo fiasco blow up, say nothing to support Tenoch, instead make faces and show arrogance and mock him without saying his name in the video below?

She didn't say anything then, she didn't say anything when these allegations came out. She is speaking now, when there's no evidence, when MER is too deep in her own shit, when Tenoch probably has something coming up in his own career and is doing fine. Coincidence? I think not.

I hate being ND. I hate that I'm always coming off wrong and no matter how many times i get in trouble, I never freaking learn shut my mouth. I hate that I always have to be vigilant about how I'm coming across esp in online spaces, that I always have to soften my words, that half my messages need to come with a disclaimer. I hate it. I always feel like it's so much more natural for others to be funny and charming and never for me.

please consider how you engage with aaron bushnell's death. you may react to it as you will, but it's crucial to remember that his death was specifically a call to action. it was not meant solely to shock but to draw attention to a vast moral hypocrisy: that to many, a soldier dying in a campaign backed by the U.S. government is noble, even if the soldier kills innocents to do so, even if the cause is morally bankrupt--but this? this is insanity. a man taking his own life, on his own terms, in an attempt to help others while hurting nobody else, is somehow less rational and more horrifying than the mass killing of civilians.

of course aaron's death was horrific. but as he said beforehand, it is realistically no more horrific than what's happening in gaza. if we can't stomach this, then why can we stomach children being bombed? thousands being starved? for all that self immolation is, it brings death in a matter of minutes. it is a fraction of the amount of pain, fear, and grief that people in gaza are experiencing. it's just that we are able to quantify it. and this tiny, quantifiable sliver of horror is still so unbelievably awful. how can anyone bear to think about anything else when this horror is happening a millionfold in palestine? this is the question aaron bushnell was asking. and he wanted you to face it, head-on, watching him burn to death.

I've been seeing people make fanart. minimalist graphics to sell on t-shirts. to commodify his death, to mythologize it not a day afterwards, is not only in poor taste but a hindrance to his message. the answer is not commodification, nor is it defeatism, nor is it rejoicing in his death. if you want to honor aaron's legacy, take action. channel your horror and your outrage into making a material change. this wasn't about him. this was about palestine. remember that it was always about palestine.
