#TOTALLY NOT referencing my immortal

One of the things I find curious about Fyodor is that in the latest bsd guidebook, he describes himself as the color white like his hometown's snow. Fyodor still remembers his hometown, after all he's gone through and after all this time. And he describes himself as the color white like its snow. That with his character's disconnect from people, makes me very excited for when Asagiri decides to reveal his character's backstory. Of course he probably means snow in a more way of "purity" than sentimentalism for his hometown itself but omg he mentions his hometown which is something enough. Not "like snow" which would convey purity enough but "like the snow from my hometown". Maybe it's because he found his faith there? Maybe he just wants to pay respect to where he was birthed? Idk but there's much to theorize. What are your thoughts?
-🎪 anon
I agree, 🎪-anon!♥️
I don’t know if it’s because he found his faith there, but I think that is very likely and seems reasonable.
However, I also believe he was born into a religious family to begin with. I’ve thought through other aspects as well. Let me break it down for you:
Tumblr media
Purity and Fyodor’s inner moral code:
Fyodor describing himself as the color white, especially like the snow from his hometown, speaks volumes. It hints at his complex inner moral code—he engages in dark actions under the belief that they serve a greater good.
This idea of “purity” contrasts sharply with his behavior. But does it?
In my humble opinion, he is well aware that what he does is evil, but his inner moral depiction is influenced by Machiavellian tendencies.
He does whatever he needs to do to cleanse humanity of their sins. Therefore, his actions reflect Machiavellian principles.
In short: the ends justify the means (The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli).
I’m imagining it like this: God has given him the enormous power of being immortal—never truly able to die.
God also gifted him with an intelligence that is above any other human being.
This means he must be someone important.
This means he is meant to be the rightful hand of God, tasked with creating a world that is worthy of God’s beauty.
Therefore, he wishes to help God’s creations, cleansing them and this sinful world of all their sins.
This is one reason why he says that he likes all humanity equally. Because he really does.
They are all the same to him—fools who could do better. Fools that could be worthy of God’s perfect world.
What fascinates me the most about him is that, even though he is doing all of this out of pure self-assurance and his own complex inner moral compass, he still claims that he is doing it for the whole world. And I believe he does.
I can totally see this being his ultimate end in the future.
His Hometown and it’s significance for him:
By referencing his hometown, he reveals a more humane side to himself.
If you haven't already, l'd recommend you read THIS and THIS posts of mine, where I explained very clearly how I perceive Fyodor's humane side.
It shows that he yearns for connection and perhaps misses the simplicity and innocence of his past.
This duality makes him such a fascinating character, caught between his dark pursuits and the remnants of his humanity.
Imagine feeling like, or even knowing that you're "the chosen one," only to end up isolated, dehumanized, and lonely, with nothing to hold onto but your belief in your God.
You can't die, because the only way for you to do so is by your own hands, which is considered the greatest sin.
You can't die. Not until you take your own life.
How deep must his religious beliefs run for him to be this dedicated to his goal, mentally able to endure and live for hundreds, maybe thousands of years?
This made me so emotional. I want to give him a hug. My precious love.♥️

I think it's insane that the two things we know about Vellioth are so contradictory and that contradiction makes him so compelling. Ok I can't explain this concisely.
...there we go.
[THAT INITIAL COMPELLING CONTRADICTION]
So Vellioth's epithet was "the Martinet" - meaning he was strict and enforced discipline, and yeah that makes sense. We learn of two punishments that Cazador suffered through, and "seeing your friend drained dry because you reached out to them" is pretty standard for what I expect a vampire to do, while the second, "getting impaled for 11 years for executing a failed plan, I don't even care that you were trying to rebel" is, I assume, the harshest punishment Vellioth meted out (Vellioth only lived 72 years! That was at least 1/7th of Cazador's spawnhood!).
On the other hand he was madly laughing when Cazador killed him, when he was melted to his bones and his soul was made into ink and trapped in the palace - how do you reconcile this behaviour with that of a 'strict disciplinarian'? Especially one who got everything to go the way he planned, which included his own very painful death? I can totally accept that his personality was not the stereotype I originally assumed (emotionless militaristic sergeant); that he was plenty expressive, that's awesome and I'm far more interested in his character now actually, but the other part?
If he is a meticulous and successful planner, why did he dedicate his life's work, as an immortal vampire, towards making a successor that carries his legacy but hates him?
Because I do believe Vellioth got everything he wanted, unlike Cazador. So that we're on the same page, here's an entire section to explain why.
[WHY I THINK VELLIOTH SUCCEEDED AT WHATEVER THE HELL HE WAS TRYING TO DO]
Mainly, my reasons are that Vellioth laughed and willingly gave his blood in the rite where he died, that Cazador follows Vellioth's lessons to the letter, and that Vellioth's presence leaves the palace when he feels like it.
For reference, here are Vellioth's lessons:
First lesson: "always to dominate. Allow none to be your equal." The example provided is of Vellioth draining a friend of Cazador dry, after Cazador reached out to them
Second lesson: "power comes from solitude. To share with others is to be weak, and to be weak is to fail... and die." And the juicy part, where Cazador was impaled for 11 years, not because he rebelled, but because he failed at the attempt
Third lesson: "to act not in haste. A near immortal has time to plan, time to act only when others will pay the price of action." Then, when Vellioth deemed Cazador learned his lessons, letting him become a true vampire in a rite where they both laughed
Notice that Cazador follows these better than Vellioth: he doesn't allow any of his spawn to be his equal - to become a true vampire, he's lonely, and he reigns for longer.
Also, in the game, once the player learns these lessons, "Vellioth is no more." After haunting the palace for two centuries. What.
Like in the same room there's a scroll that reads "For my sins, my soul was made ink and written onto this parchment, where its scrawl crawls sleeplessly for eternity - unless you free it." which implies Vellioth was trapped by Cazador, but I don't see why Cazador would make the freeing mechanism "tell some high-wisdom stranger about my past as a slave." That part felt like Vellioth giving one last middle finger to Caz, and choosing to ditch before he witnesses his spawn fail and die to the player. Which means Vellioth had chosen to stay "trapped" in the painful/humiliating display Cazador mounted entirely willingly.
Cazador objectively seems like the more successful vampire, reaching the Ascension that is every vampires' wet dream, but he ends up unhappy (I'm referencing that Detect Thoughts on Cazador in his coffin that reveals he thinks of himself as a monster that will not end, and eternal unlife as a curse). Vellioth, meanwhile; all signs point towards him executing his plans flawlessly, and without regrets. I can only conclude, for some reason, that this is the future he wanted.
[CONCLUSION]
What I'm saying is that Vellioth got what he wanted, but what he wanted doesn't makes any sense. His priorities are out of whack.
Why? Certainly the easy answer, in my opinion, is that he went mad, possibly through Cazador's machinations (how else do you get a vampire lord to willingly give you his blood?). I don't have a better answer - I don't really care about that question, actually. Rather, in conclusion, can I invite you to consider my attempt to compile canon-compliant Vellioth traits?
-> Vellioth doesn't fear death. He doesn't want to live forever. He never liked the benefits of vampirism (never thought of it as a gift), 70 years of unlife was long enough for him, or did Donnella ruin it for him?
-> Vellioth is selfless? Humble? Cautious? According to Astarion, vampires are power-hungry creatures who see all other vampires as competitors. Vellioth doesn't try to make himself known, doesn't try for world domination (as far as we know), and the legacy he leaves is purely in Cazador's name. He is, for some reason, not vain or power-hungry, at least not for himself. (I do doubt that a vampire can be selfless or humble though.)
-> Maybe he sees Cazador's accomplishments as an extension of his own? His lessons sure don't prime Cazador to perpetuate the cycle; he doesn't expect Cazador to have a successor. Maybe he thought Cazador was more likely to complete the Rite of Profane Ascension, and stuck around to see it happen?
okay thanks for reading please don't be too mean if I said something stupid. and a disclaimer: i do not care if your vellioth is not canon compliant. i love reading vellioths that do not at all follow what i have in mind. i analyze canon for fun, i am not trying to police anybody

Sometimes, it is kinda annoying how Roman versions of Athena HAVE to be the main version in stories ya know. I know you are doing something with Erichthonius, and it's just so wild how his conception, which isn't just post Rome, it is post-OVID, and even then, it was given as an ALTERNATIVE version of him being born from a daughter of Cerops (so a snake lady its a whole long ableist joke), gets referenced in shows like Percy Jackson and games like immortal fenyx rising stuff for a far younger audience, and trying to emulate greek myths specifically, who never say anything about an attempted assault, only at Hephaestus and Athena being close friends and comrades. i guess I'm asking is if you've ever felt the same? or I'm I going insane (this is possible too)
When it comes to me and Greek mythology, I'm learning that I really like the stories written by Hesiod. I seem to be H-biased, preferring Hesiod and Homer to stories from Ovid or the majority of others. So, I don't really notice too many of the Roman variations unless they get mixed into the Greek myth research (but that leads to a lot of sighing on my part when it happens).
I didn't hear about there being a version where a daughter of Cerops was his mom. The whole Erichthonius myth really is just so bizarre in every version I've seen, though. I almost feel like it just needs a revamp that people agree on because his backstory seems to change every time I look at it. So yeah, I have felt that way about myth variations, just not totally the Roman ones since I filter those out almost as soon as I realize that they're Roman. No offense to them. I just want my Greek mythology stories to be purely Greek. (And I also am still very bitter about the portrayal of Mars vs Ares...so that doesn't help)

Alright buckle up y’all, I’ve got a book series recommendation and propaganda under the cut for any fans of the Inheritance Cycle.
If you read our beloved farmboy-turned-dragon-rider books and had a particular fondness for: the idea of an order of individuals chosen to be both partner and rider to powerful and beautiful magical creatures; Snowfire; an immortal evil that resurfaces in disguised and unexpected forms (specifically referencing the Draumar cult which we now know had influence in Galbatorix’s rise to power); and/or the juicy juicy drama of complicated parent-child relationships, then oh boy do I have a recommendation for you.
Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar series, comprising of many, MANY individuals novels, trilogies, and short story anthologies. I don’t currently have a count for the exact total of published books, as I’ve been getting most of these from my local secondhand bookstore, but she’s been publishing these books since 1987 and is still writing them today in 2024.
Since this is such a huge collection, it can be hard to know where to start, so first of all I’d like to assure you that you can start pretty much anywhere, with any of the individual novels or series, so long as you make sure to find the first installment of that series. Personally I started with The Black Gryphon, which seems to be one of the chronologically earliest books; Arrows of the Queen of the Heralds of Valdemar trilogy would also be a good place to start, being the first published Valdemar book, though I haven’t actually read it yet—I only just got my copy today, actually!
At any rate, wherever you start, there’s a lot to look forward to. Lackey has a knack for writing characters with depth and complexity, giving them flaws that are so well balanced by endearments that even at their worst, you can still understand and empathize with them; she absolutely refuses to write idiot-plots, allowing her characters not only to remain consistent with their established characterizations, but also to communicate with each other and allow their relationships to evolve as the characters do. Characters are allowed to make mistakes, be vain and stubborn and prideful, get angry, get jealous, get scared, and yet afterward still be received with love and forgiveness when they apologize. The magic is beautifully described and, at least for me, easy to understand; the schemes are clever, diabolical, and exciting to watch unfold. There is true, pure evil in the villains, and satisfaction in their endings.
There’s also a decent amount of diversity, which may or may not be surprising, depending on what you’ve read of 80s/90s SFF. Of the handful of books I’ve read so far, here are my observations: Lackey writes fantastic and complex women full of depth, emotion, and ingenuity, each as different from each other as their backgrounds would demand. There are several canonically queer characters across the timeline, including a main protagonist. Lackey’s worldbuilding establishes several unique and disparate cultures, drawing clear influence from many non-European real life sources, with featured characters of those cultures given, in my opinion, respectful and appreciative spotlights. There are characters with disabilities, respected both by the narrative and the characters around them. There are also non-human cultures, characters, and protagonists!
As fantastic as I have been finding these books, it would be remiss of me not to add that these books will not be for everyone. They are firmly adult fantasy, and Lackey does not pull her punches when she wants her characters to suffer. There is torture, sexual assault, suicide. Not all of this is graphically described, but some certainly is; most of the graphic stuff I have so far read is of about the same intensity as the torture scenes of Inheritance, but some of the abstractions are much more intense, and I get the sense that some of what I haven’t yet read may be both graphic and visceral. That being said, if you could handle Game of Thrones’ graphic violence and assault but disliked the persistent pessimism of that series, this one might be right up your alley!
Anyway. That’s all from me for now. I’m off to go read about characters bonding with magical creatures somewhat beyond mortal ken and going on fantastic and harrowing magical adventures. :)

Funny enough I was coming up with a stoat character and reminded how they have different fur coats depending on the seasons and your Shadow slugcat spring/winter coats inspired me on what I imagined the stoat character would look like.
I'm glad my work inspires you! I was also referencing stoats for my shadow design since I really like the idea of winter coats changing colors, but also being interested in biology as a whole is what led me to making an alt version for Shadow's winter coat
So fun fact, Shadow is also immortal* in the AU so he would continue to live while everyone else passes on and is reincarnated into the cycle again until he is ascended by the sonic equivalent of Saint from rain world so I wanted to make that winter coat version that didn't totally take away from his main features of being black with red highlights, but there was some new elements that helped him adapt to the new snowy terrain that we would see later in the rain world timeline.
*for the sake of writing more efficiently, I've defined the Cycle in Rain World more clearly so that organic creatures do eventually die, but they are reincarnated as a different creature. What being immortal means is that the immortal creature continues to function past its species' expected life span, thus, never dying. The immortal creature can still be killed, yes, but the creature will continue to wake up shortly after dying, and so the cycle repeats. The only way for an immortal creature to truly die is to be ascended, which would make them more like iterators in the flesh of a wild, organic creature.
This interpretation of the cycle is very inspired by the culture and beliefs of Buddhism, which it is already very reminiscent of. I drew this inspiration initially from this Rain World PMV by a Chinese artist that was originally uploaded to Bilibili and reposted to YouTube, due to Youtube in China being restricted

it still annoys me that legacies pushed so hard for hope to have biological children. first of all, you’d think that they wouldn’t make getting pregnant and popping out babies the main thing for a 19 year old girl to look forward to in life. secondly, the found family trope is one of the few things that was consistent throughout the seasons and this could’ve been the perfect time to actually follow through on it beyond the “your friends can be your family” notion.
imagine how meaningful it would be for hope to adopt a child? she grew up in a household were family was everything, specifically blood family. said blood family members, no matter how you put it, essentially move on in their lives, leaving her in the dust. in s1 there’s a specific scene that could’ve been a seed planted for this.
https://youtu.be/uU5pYTgbqeQ?si=tO7UvEDppd6SJz6G
hope: a crew isn’t the same. family is always and forever.
rafael: landon isn’t my blood, but he is my brother. maybe you should try doubling down on friends to make up for the family you don’t have.
hope disregards rafael and landons relationship completely in favor of the the mere idea of landon reconnecting with his biological mother. despite the fact that rafael was shown to be completely devoted to landon’s happiness and over all well being, hope tells rafael that it essentially doesn’t matter because no matter the fact that seylah presumably abandoned landon, she’s blood so she’s automatically more important.
rafaels response was really something hope needed to hear. he clearly wasn’t ONLY talking about klaus and hayley when referencing hopes lack of a familial unit. hope was preaching about “always and forever” as if she’s ever truly benefited from it. she hadn’t spoken to the mikaelsons in years by time that scene had happened, yet she clings to the idea of her blood relatives while pushing away the friends that showed much more regard for her happiness than the mikaelsons ever did in legacies.
a few decades along the line i can totally see hope finding a child struggling with their power and taking them under her wing. whenever i think of hopes future in terms of family, i always imagine a yennefer/circi type situation. hope changing the world for the better with her magic like she’s always wanted and exploring her power to its fullest potential yet still feeling empty. being one of the most powerful people alive but being lonely at the top. eventually on her travels she finds a young girl abandoned by her coven and angry at the world and decides to take her in. she nurtures the child the same way she wishes she was. promises to not make the same mistakes her parents did, despite loving her obviously, and doesn’t. eventually it would lead to her adopting more children throughout her immortal life.
i have no qualms about hope seeking out motherhood because it does make sense for her seeing how family oriented she is. i do however have a problem with it being done it a way that is (in my opinion) slightly distasteful and stunts her growth.

my theory/interpretation of how player death functions in the qsmp is that respawn is possible as long as some part of the player remains. The ability to respawn is something that has been referenced/alluded to in lore previously, the federation even possibly researching/experimenting on felps in relation to player immortality during the period he was kidnapped, HOWEVER certain players have died and never respawned. So what's the in universe differing factor between a player character dying and respawning or permanently dying?
There have been what you could call "lore deaths" where a character will die in a dramatic high intensity situation that lead to no permanent death and if you consider that both Dan and Spreen died off screen a purely dramatic moments based death system wouldn't make sense if youre looking at things from a purely in universe perspective.
Looking at the confirmed canon deaths whilst we cannot know for sure what happened to Dan and Spreen we can theorise based upon Bad, Jaiden and Max which is where i pull my concept of total destruction from.
Jaiden and Max both died in Purgatory to the nuclear blast of Max's nuke, the entire island was destroyed, total obliteration of all life. With both their log out points being on the surface not far from the nuke itself its easy to assume their bodies could've been eviscerated in the blast, preventing respawn with nothing left to spark life from again whether that be their physical bodies or their consciousness stored in melting brains.
Applying this concept to bad is a little more complex because he does "fully die" but still comes back, so what's going on there? I propose that in the soul vulture infection his mortal body and brain were withered away to nothing, much like Jaiden and Max until there was truly nothing left. However Bad is a fallen angel, life and death function differently for him. To me he did permadie, and were he not a fallen angel he wouldn't have been able to return. His lingering divinity being able to bring him back when any average mortal would've died.
Alternatively it could be argued that instead of the more physical interpretation, respawning could have a greater connection to a player's soul and them having the will to respawn, bad, Max and jaiden all died at low emotional points.
The disturbing conclusion to this theory in that the only true escape from Isla quesadilla Is in total smithereens.

“Twilight Zone: The Movie” (1983)
-a startling good anthology, especially among sci fi (horror tends to dominate that area)
-the first segment, featuring two passengers in a car trying to figure out tv theme songs, has a very French new wave feel to it. Just a casual, shooting the shit type atmosphere, and all the more unsettling for it.
-Dan Aykroyd is totally is his element here, referencing pop culture from the past while being a total weirdo. Highly endearing.
-He and director John Landis had a hand in glove collaboration, proved by his greatest performance, Winthrope III in “Trading Places”
-Nice unsaid touch with referencing the uber famous segment with Burgess Meredith and his broken glasses and then having the man himself narrate the segments. Pop Godard 80s
-the second segment (also by Landis) has possibly an even more jolting charge since it was first made. With bigotry more unabashedly public in the succeeding decades, seeing an unrepentant racist go through some of the worst ethnic suffering of the 20th century is shocking and satisfying at the same time.
-from “they will not replace us” to “oh fuck! Is that what happened to them? This shit sucks!!”
-most importantly, it’s just damn well directed and acted
-I really like how it’s totally random when said bigot time travels. Sometimes through a door, sometimes when falling
-it very much has a energy that a longer film would be hard pressed to sustain
-“I don’t care what you think, as long as I don’t have to hear it!”
-there is a definite chill to the bone when the bigot gets put in a train car with yellow star’ed Jews, on his way to the concentration camp, and we see his point of view looking outside the car as he goes to die
-so unnerving it might even cause a pause of consciousness in anti-semites & other Jew haters (or as they are known in the 2020’s pc terms; Columbia chumps & the “pro” Palestine bunch)
-the third segment is a breezy little short, that benefits mightily from following such a harrowing and exhausting previous entry
-Spielberg directs with his usual utter mastery of mis en scene, its emotions simple but its power strong
-there is definitely a lost boys feeling here expanded upon with “Hook”; as it is the swashbuckler elder turned dashing juvenile often steal the show from the dapper Scatman Crothers
+I also suspect the seed for “Cocoon” was born here
-there is nothing new in the notion that we grow old when we stop playing, stop trying new things, and yet Spielberg (possibly at his most id) makes it magical in details such as camera placement and shot length
-again proving, storytelling is not what it is about, but how it is about it
-the fourth segment just took my breath away
-it is utterly surreal and madcap. There is a verve that reminds me of the immortal “House”/Hause” 1977 even though there is no way director Joe Dante saw it
-perhaps he just wanted to make his big moment count. He has never played with our incubation thoughts so well before or since
-a school teacher comes across a wayward boy who has the power of god
-there is something truly unnerving about the scene where the teacher walks through the house, unaware at first of the horror bubbling up
+punctuated by the shot of the (true) sister zoned out with no mouth in front of the tv
-I love the detail of the “uncle” and “parents” just being a random group of unmet strangers the god child kidnapped along the way. What a notion; that could power a whole film by itself
-continuing the playful French theme; the teacher’s name is that of the real person teacher who influenced “Twilight” creator Rod Serling. Sacrebleu!
-the scene where the child and teacher follow each other, he has teleported them to a nowhere dimension, and it is two shots overlapping over each other in dissolves…just magnificent
-I had no idea famous animator Sally Cruikshank did original animation for this segment [where the girl gets trapped in a cartoon]. Like her short “Quasi at the Quackadero” (1975) it is delightful in how odd it is.
+in general, there is an awesome collection of cartoons in this segment (no surprise) from “Bimbo’s Initiation” to “The Great Piggy Bank Robbery”
-but of course there is no greater high than the animatronics Rob Bottin makes to teleport 2d creatures into our dimension. Absolutely bonkers
-there is a argument that maybe Joe Dante should done his version of Roger rabbit after seeing this part, even though I love the hell out of that film
-the fifth segment is pretty good, but almost anything would be a let down after that last bit, and it is somewhat here
-the main dealbreaker for me in this segment (where a paranoid man wonders if he sees a gremlin on the plane wing) is that main actor John Lithgow inspires zero sympathy from me, nor do I enjoy his suffering. So it’s in the mild zone for me
-everyone around him is in good form though; Donna Dixon is wonderful as the younger stewardess and I’m thrilled to see Charles Knapp (the amusing mortician from “Chinatown”) get some sweaty claustrophobic screen time
-the camera placement by director George Milker is first rate
-a WC Fields ventriloquist doll, eh? Why not
-the part where the man is out the window, his face frozen, the creature running towards him, with odd timed lighting, is awesome
+and also strangely prescient of early 2000s type monster attacks
-what a delight, to see short films from directors I admire, each playing different music of moods from their usual features
-the helicopter crash behind the scenes almost overshadows all talk about this motion picture, but it’s honestly just a astonishing film of incredible highs that I heartily recommend to all. Total blast

Emily Dickinson and RWBY
Lately I cant stop noticing parallels between RWBY and Emily Dickinson and I'm sure they're coincidences, mostly because if they were purposefully referencing her the show would have been way louder about it I'm sure. But still, lots of coincidences and I can't find anyone else noticing this.
There are individual poems I want to go on more detailed analyses of which I'll do in separate posts, but also the major themes really get me. Something Dickinson is known for is writing about death, and I'd argue the cycle of life and death is the biggest theme in RWBY. The main conflict is caused by an immortal being who was cursed into it by the gods for not respecting the cycle of life and death, and I think Ruby's recent suicide attempt is going to link into that a lot. Another thing I could do a whole theory on.
This, and also seasons. RWBY has four arcs themed around the four kingdoms, four relics, four maidens, and therefore the four seasons. Dickinson has a LOT of poems that are either about the seasons, use them as symbolism, or mention them or the months of the year.
And as an extra little thing, the poems I've been able to link to RWBY in a weird amount of detail have several times mentioned bees. And I'm not saying Blake and Yang were done on purpose for this. But I am saying they were quickly established in the show to be referred to as bumblebee, and if my favourite queer poet mentioned bees a lot, I would totally make a bee themed queer couple. That and I want to do a whole thing on the song Nevermore.
PLEASE tell me somebody else thinks what I think

Wow, that seems incredibly cheaty. I want to applaud him for finding a solid practical application for wind manipulation but the application in question is piracy so I have mixed feelings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you're getting name-dropped for shrewdness next to a guy who blasts wind from his arsehole directly into the sails and people are crediting both of you in equal measure for the ship being fast, you must be doing something right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, I know what she's referencing but. What? What the fuck does that mean in this context, Teaks? He didn't want her to go play music somewhere because he... values friendship and experiences over material reward?
Are you sure you're reading that correctly? You didn't skip a line or something?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They became ghost pirates because the Captain threw a hissy fit and stopped magically summoning wind to propel their ship. All the shrewdness in the world can't make up for lack of propulsion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I guess the plan was to kill the guy who makes the wind, then figure out how to sail by naturally-occurring wind, something they've never had to do before. I guess... I mean, how hard could it be, right?
Wind Waker Link sends his sympathies.

Wait wait wait wait wait.
Hold up.
So. They threw the Captain overboard and he plunged into the murky abyss but also he's totally find down there and can use his powers to summon an eternal prison storm. There, within the prison storm, his men went gradually mad over hundreds of years. Lack of food, drinkable water, and constantly being hammered by deadly storms had no adverse effect on any of them.
So. To clarify. Everyone in this story was already immortal when it began. Was the Vespertine a ghost ship when we started, and this is just some shit that went down one day post-undeadifying? Hortense just sat up one day in the midst of bone rattling and saber shaking and went, "I feel like there's more to unlife than being a Disneyland attraction."

Stormcaller's a surprisingly considerate vengeful wraith. "YOU WILL NEVER ESCAPE MY UNYIELDING FURY oh but go ahead and take your fifteen minute break. My revenge can wait until you're back on the clock. I don't sail the Amazon."
This is interesting. I hope we get to see the Vespertine one of these days. So we can immediately side with Hortense because there is no contest in this conflict. She is objectively right and you gotta let her go, man.

I didn't want to ask something obvious for the ship ask, so this is kinda left field (i think jsjsj), but for the ship ask abronsius/krolock? I don't know if this is a thing I just really like old man/vampire ships (?)
Omgg this is canon though so happy to answer xDD /hj Ooh you have to tell me what other old man x vampire ships there are, I haven't heard of others before!!
What made you ship it?
Michael Kunze saying in a blickpunkt magazine interview that Krolock and Abronsius are "battling over Alfred's soul". Custody battle HAHSJFJF. Also some old tumblr posts I saw about it. I just think it makes sense... There isn't really a lot of stuff to indicate it in musical canon (some people say it's canon in the movie - but I don't really recommend the movie, it's not great ajdjfjgj) but that's what fanfiction is for,,, It's got everything, the tension, the drama, the high stakes (hehe stakes..... indeed...). Abronsius being wrapped up in his positivist morals and "logic" but feeling a strange pull to the object of his study and the promise of immortality...
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
It sounding like a crackship but making total sense. It coming between alfred x abronsius and thereby making it not possible (@wo-der-horizont-beginnt) (HAHJFJ joking,, this is a satirical comment referencing my theory that some people only ship/support alfred x h*rbert to get alfred out of the way of krolock and sarah...). It being nemo x aronnax but with old men xD
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
That I ship it...

What’s this? I wasn’t going to keep you waiting another year for an update. I think it’s quite fitting that one of the recentish pieces of content is Star Wars adjacent because it segues very well into retelling this story.
Part III: The Last Strawmen
We finally reached pre-modern Quinton and in order to understand how he ended up with no one on his corner by the end of the year we have to put the whole year of 2018 in context as it further serves to explain how his channel died for 2 years and eventually rose from the ashes of total irrelevance once he started to make multi-hour long videos.
Like all Internet slap fights the root is Star Wars. The Last Jedi is the movie of all time. My opinion, your opinion, any opinion here is irrelevant. What you need to remember is that it is a divisive movie, it made movie discourse online dreadful and how people used it for their own ends led to the current review ecosystem. Quinton loved TLJ and there are people in this story that didn’t, that’s all we need to proceed.
Q makes a positive review of it and people disagree in the comment section. Those people turned out to be Mauler and Rags, two thirds of what eventually became Every Frame a Pause, a podcast that can last almost an entire day. EFAP is yet another rabbit hole (sensing a pattern so far) that has become quite amusing over the years given Quinton now fills a very similar niche for a different demographic.
Is during this saga that Quinton would show one of his biggest character flaws and one that will remain with him throughout his career: his obsession with having the last word. EFAP would extend an invitation to have a debate over the merits of TLJ which Q declined (something he is fully within his right to do) but Q also insisted on generally being dismissive of them and taunting them. Q’s official statement as to why he refused to accept talking 1-on-1 was that he wouldn’t waste his time explaining that they didn’t understand what subjectivity is, in quite a dismissive way but he also went out of his way to lurk in a proto-EFAP stream to taunt Rags.
Things escalated in a geek cold war and we got A Critique of Citizen Kane.
youtube
Of this video only the 5 minute teaser survives and considering Quinton has only referenced this video once, on a now unlisted video we’ll touch in a bit, has allowed this video to exist in an almost mythical state including the immortalizing of one of Q’s lesser known great quotes: a review is a description of an experience.
The EFAP side narrative as to what happened has prevailed as to what this video was so take this a big cup of salt. A Critique was a video where Quinton mocked Mauler by replicating his reviewing style (long, verbose, going on tangents) to say that Citizen Kane was overrated. What Q was trying to achieve exactly has perplexed Quintstorians for years.
Tumblr media
One of the few screenshots from A Critique to survive and official explanation as to what it was supposed to be. According to the main narrative, half of the comment section thought Q was really saying Citizen Kane was overrated and agreed with him and the other half knew of the beef with EFAP and were getting sick of his antics.
In an already very neglected part of the lore, we get a little side story about Quinton’s first Discord fan server revolting against him. Quinton nukes his first fan server and makes a second one called Noah’s Arc, where he invites loyalists and according to the lore, had to almost dox themselves to enter. An anti-fan server is created and tries to recreate the old. Some genius gives Quinton the link and he keeps joining to dunk on his former fans.
With that we close by far the most anecdotical part of Quintstory and pretty much everything from this point onward has piles and piles of evidence.
Do you remember this all started because of TLJ? I Hate Everything (back when he made videos) released a piece that can be summed up as people should be free to like TLJ and was pretty inoffensive compared to the shite made back when. Rags then decides to make a video response (the I drew myself as a Chad and you as a soyjak kind that even breadtubers do) to that video. And then The Right Opinion decided he had to step up and defend IHE’s honor.
youtube
This is one of the videos of all time. The first of TRO’s current line-up of over edited video essays on Internet drama. You may not know it because it’s unlisted.
Why is it unlisted?
This video is a fucking pain to watch. If you don’t like TRO, you will hate this video. Is TRO, IHE, back to TRO, Rags, back to TRO for two hours of half-made statements about a fucking space movie. The kicker is that TRO by his own admission doesn’t know anything about Star Wars so he enlisted the help of a friend of his to cover for that.
Can you guess who?
36:41, in case the timestamp done shat the bed.
For a refresher. We’ve established so far that Quinton refused to debate EFAP (again, within his right) but he still enjoyed to mock them from the safety of his own community without giving them the right to talk back. So Quinton accepted to appear on a friend’s channel to talk about a subject involving EFAP and attempted to destroy them with facts and logic. Despite acting very pleased with himself like he just deconstructed their entire existences, Quinton will walk away from this with no major problems than a bruised ego and a tarnished reputation, handing EFAP one of the few Ws they ever got from anyone not named MovieBob.
Quinton dedicated his whole segment to talk about Mauler (and Rags, don’t forget this is a response to him) as two pretentious douchebags that held their opinions on media as fact and a holy crusade while sounding like a pretentious douchebag that held his own opinions as fact and a holy crusade. Basically the pot calling the kettle black and is funnier in hindsight because one of Quinton’s favorite arguments against Mauler was that he needed several hours of tangents to make a point. For extra basedness, Quinton had sent TRO a phony script of his segment so he wouldn’t stop him on using The Right Opinion channel as a battlefield for a disagreement he refused to address like an adult on his own channel.
Suffice to say, no one looked good during this and to boot IHE ended up having an amicable discussion with Mauler over liking TLJ, whereas TRO ended up appearing in EFAP to explain that he didn’t know what Quinton had done because at the time he didn’t check what his editors sent back.
Despite this, the friendship wouldn’t officially die until several months later in an even sadder note.

“Hey now,” he says, doing his best to shush you. He already knows he’s in for a reaming for outing himself to a human; the last thing he needs is to be caught by anyone else. “Anyone would be lucky to murder you. You’re totally good enough! Don’t say things like that about yourself.”
It takes a few seconds, but he seems to register his words at the same time you wail harder. “I didn’t—I didn’t mean it like that. Oh wow, I’m so bad at this. I just—I meant you’re… you know.
I officially have a new favorite Seokjin and it's this one right here! I'm so down bad for him as a beautiful bimbo vampire, you have no idea! Especially considering he doesn't age and he referenced Twilight in that one Run Episode. Like how do we know he isn't one?
Their first meeting had me hollering! Like it's so rare for me to laugh out loud reading fics, but I was genuinely cry laughing - especially when OC had her little breakdown about not being good enough to get bitten. I can't tell if I'd react the same or just run for my life, but I'm glad she struck up a conversation with him. And then Jin freakin out over the fact that she's twenty-seven (as an almost 27-year-old who feels old at times, this oddly comforted me).
And then for the story to unfold from there! Like Jin just going to her place when he gets exiled from his clan (poor bby) and just sort of barging his way into her life as his roommate? That's so Jin of him, I can't explain. I love the morbid sort of reality that Seokjin just received an exile and death sentence and he's just chilling on her couch watching Love Island, I can't explain how that made me smile.
The way they became friends was so sweet and wholesome but also full of the right amount of crack that Seokjin would bring to any relationship. Like him sending the flowers for V-day and OC giving him sheets, but then also her helping him after he got drunk from the blood bank. It's strange, but also tender, and it made my heart melt.
The vampire lore was too good here! I feel like it had the perfect amount of being believable but also ridiculous enough to fit with the vibe of the fic. Like Seokjin becoming a twitch streamer to afford blood, but then also the inevitable reality of aging and whatnot while he remained immortal. I kind of like that you kept it open ended about what they decided for the future and focused on them falling in love in the here and now.
All this is to say that the humour here was top-notch (which I've come to expect from reading your work)! The sex scene genuinely had me screaming so hard, but I also liked that they had a cute happy ending with them and their little found family :) Now I will actively be searching for a vampire Seokjin irl, ty!

I hate it, Satan plz
"Hey, Satan?"
"Hmm?"
The blond haired demon looked on at the other with a questionable gaze.
"Would you consider fanfiction to be literature?"
That was a very interesting question. He took a moment to think about his answer and when he felt he had the right words in order, he replied.
"In its broad definition, literature is just written work. Therefore, yes, I would consider fanfiction to be literature. But why do you ask?"
A small smile crept onto the other's lips as they approached him with their DDD in hand. Maybe there was something fun to do with him.
"There is a story back in the human realm that is infamous for being the worst fanfiction ever written. Of course, such titles can only be objective."
With one eyebrow raised, he beconed then closer to his chair and they happily abliged.
"Tell me a little more about this story."
Like a fish caught on a line, she had him hooked. She was sure to describe the piece of work with attractive words while being careful not to spoil it. What she wanted most from him was his reaction to the mess of this fanfiction. At last, he had submitted to his curiosity and requested that they send him the link to the work. Being as avid of a reader as he is, it would only take him a night to make it through the story.
The next morning he arrived later than usual to the table with dark circles under his eyes and a very sour look to his face. They snickered to themself before chirping cheerfully to him.
"Good morning, Satan! Did you enjoy the story?"
He scoffed, replying sarcastically to their cheerful nature.
"I hated it. Actually, to say it in the past tense would mean that I have forgotten about all the rage that piece of work bought to me. I still hate it."
They laughed, ignoring all of the strange looks from the other six brothers they were receiving. It was a very good joke that they played on him but this would be the first and the last time they would ever do this to him.
"Mc, I would appreciate it if you did not speak to me for about the next month. I will require some time to myself for the loss of sleep you've caused me."

Eden’s Notes: This is probably my favorite Soulmate fic i’ve ever read just based on the fact that the world it takes place in is very thought out and realistic for a soulmate au (it just makes sense the way things play out). The writing is quite beautiful and paints a good picture of the anxieties that the characters face when coming in contact with each other and their world in the AU. Highly recommend this fic!

Double Take by yoongiyoongi
Pairings: Jeon Jungkook x Kim Namjoon (side pairings: I feel like it would be a spoiler so i’ll just let you read and see)
Genre: Strangers to Lovers / Exes to Lovers / Fluff and Smut / Angst / First Time
Chapters: 6
Wordcount: 139,871
Summary: “I think saving your virginity for marriage is stupid,” Namjoon said, almost whining. Jungkook huffed. “Is this always on your mind?” “When I’m with you?” Namjoon asked, equally incredulous, “Yeah. It is. A lot.” “What’s your best-case scenario for this conversation, Namjoon?” Jungkook asked plainly. “Well,” Namjoon thought, “Best-case…you agree that being a virgin is stupid and then we do something about it.” “And if I don’t agree that being a virgin is stupid?” Jungkook inquired. “Then you keep being a stupid virgin,” Namjoon mumbled. “Good chat,” Jungkook told him.
/or/
In a cool, 90s vintage way, Jungkook always thought he’d save his virginity for the person he married. In a normal, 2021 way, Namjoon would rather he didn’t.
Tags: Virgin Jeon Jungkook, Himbo Kim Namjoon | RM, Loss of Virginity, rip massive spoiler, Strangers to Lovers, Fluff and Smut, Sharing a Bed, Blow Jobs, Riding, Rimming, i can’t remember everything they do this fic is so long, they are just incredibly domestic and dramatic, Angst, jungkook has an incompetency kink he just won’t admit it, namjoon has a mild degradation kink except he doesn’t know what that word means, (and jungkook doesn’t wanna tell him), Exes to Lovers, and they were ROOMMATES, Service Top Kim Namjoon | RM, reporting for duty, bratty bottom jeon jungkook (why isn’t this an established tag army yeorobun), Anal Sex, First Time, Roleplay, Infidelity Roleplay (just trust me), Light Bondage, bunny kink alkdjljkds, Found Family, Protective Bangtan Boys | BTS, Happy Ending
Eden’s Notes: A03 really has some of the best writing I have had the pleasure of seeing. This fic is like a whole book/movie series wrapped up into a little ~140k worded package. It was a rollercoaster of both positive warm, cozy, fluffy first love emotion and screaming at your phone because the characters are ambiguous negitive emotion. I almost don’t have the words to describe actually how good it is. You just really need to read it to experience it.
