Speaker Mike Johnson raises white flag of surrender over House
February 12, 2025
Robert B. Hubbell
It was a mixed day in the effort to defend the rule of law against the unfolding coup. It was also a bizarre day. Elon Musk stood next to the Resolute Desk and answered questions from journalists while Trump played second fiddle, seated and (mostly) mute. Dark memories of Rasputin hung over the tableau like a sinister presence. Musputin?
Here is the top line: The courts continue to hold the line, and Trump says he will obey court orders even though the evidence suggests otherwise. See The Hill, Trump says he'll abide by court orders that block parts of his agenda. (“The answer is I always abide by the courts, always abide by them. And we’ll appeal. But appeals take a long time.”)
As noted by Marc Elias of Democracy Docket in this excellent explainer video, federal judges seem to be collectively angry at Trump and Musk for playing “hide the ball,” “twenty questions,” and “the dog ate my homework” when faced with clear and direct orders. Elias’s explanation is helpful, reassuring, and provides insight into why Trump (and the DOJ) may realize that they must obey court orders. See Democracy Docket, Judge Says Trump Admin Violated Court Order, Threatens Contempt.
Despite Trump's answer that he will obey court orders, Musk continues to “cut” funds that have been appropriated by Congress under Article I. To say that Trump is abiding by court orders (and the Constitution) contains the significant implied qualifier, “But only to the extent that I get caught.” Cold comfort, indeed. Sadly, as discussed below, we cannot trust the assurances given in court by the DOJ. Caution and skepticism are warranted.
The most significant political development was in the House, where Speaker Mike Johnson said that Trump was welcome to trammel the constitutional authority of Congress. See HuffPo, Mike Johnson Says 'The Courts Should Take A Step Back'. (“The courts should take a step back and allow these processes to play out. What we’re doing is good and right for the American people. Judges aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power.”)
Mike Johnson knows full well that impounding funds appropriated by Congress violates Article I of the Constitution and the Impoundment Control Act of 1974. The court orders are narrowly tailored to restrain the illegitimate exercise of power by Trump. But Johnson’s comment was meant to signal that House Republicans would not object to their neutering by Trump. Indeed, the fact that Johnson used “we” (“What we’re doing”) shows that House Republicans are co-conspirators in the coup.
Which leaves us where we were yesterday: The courts are the first line of defense and American citizens are the second line of defense. Several readers expressed puzzlement about my call for us to serve as the “backstop” for the courts, saying they did not understand what actions I was encouraging.
So, to remove any ambiguity, let's try again: Trump's willingness to abide by court rulings will be informed by the degree to which his lawlessness provokes mass demonstrations, work stoppages, boycotts, tax strikes, and civil disobedience.
If Trump believes he can ignore court orders without provoking those reactions by the people, he is more likely to ignore the authority of the courts.
But if he believes that ignoring the courts will lead to mass demonstrations, work stoppages, boycotts, tax strikes, and civil disobedience, he will be incentivized to comply with court orders.
In other words, we are the backstop for the courts (a baseball reference), and also the reinforcements, the calvary, and the source of the “consent of the governed.” If we threaten to withdraw that consent, the courts have greater leverage over Trump, and he is more likely to abide by their rulings.
It is therefore vitally important that we belong to and participate in grassroots resistance organizations. Grassroots groups are stepping up to organize mass resistance. Join them. Support them. Show up. Encourage your friends to join. That is how we will backstop the courts.
Let’s look at some of the most important developments.
Trump's aluminum tariffs.
In the avalanche of news over the last few days, I failed to mention that Trump announced a 25% tariff on aluminum imports. Auto manufacturers and other businesses have said the tariff will lead to “chaos” in the supply chain. See Quartz News, Ford CEO says Trump tariffs are causing 'chaos' for automakers.
On the legal front
In a significant development, a judge on the First Circuit Court of Appeals refused to issue an emergency stay of a lower court ruling compelling Trump to “unfreeze” all federal loans and grants. See HuffPo, Appeals Court Won't Halt Judge’s Order Requiring Trump Administration To Unfreeze All Federal Cash.
In a second matter, the Department of Justice admitted that its prior representation that DOGE employees had only “read only” access to private data was false. See Politico, Treasury officials: Musk ally ‘mistakenly’ had power to alter payments system.
But some federal employees are disregarding the court order to “unfreeze” grants and loans. Some federal employees continued (as of late Monday evening) to refuse to comply with Judge McConnell’s order “unfreezing” federal grants and loans. See The New Republic, FEMA Tries to Appease Trump by Ignoring Court Order on Funding Freeze.
Per The New Republic,
In an email sent Monday, Stacey Street, FEMA’s director of the Office of Grant Administration, ordered her subordinates to “put financial holds on all of your awards—all open awards, all years (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024).” Earlier Monday, U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell had said that the Trump administration had continued to block federal grants, ignoring the judge’s previous directive restraining the disastrous executive order that would have stripped funding from an array of essential government services.
So, while Trump says that he is obeying court orders, people in his administration are not.
And Trump continues to authorize Musk to engage in actions that are likely violations of Article I. Just before the bizarre press conference, Trump authorized Musk to implement a massive layoff of federal employees—likely a violation of federal civil service protection, union contracts, and (depending on how the layoffs are implemented), a violation of the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 and Article I of the Constitution. See Scripps News, Trump signs executive order to reduce the overall size of government.
But in a potentially hopeful sign, the Office of Personnel Management has apparently withdrawn an order to terminate any employee within their “probationary employment” tenure. Instead, terminations will focus on “low performers” within that group. See The Hill, OPM directs federal agencies to address low performers. (“The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is instructing agencies that they do not have to fire all federal employees still on probation but is encouraging them to remove any low performers.”)
A final note regarding another judicial victory, a judge has ordered the administration to restore website data for health agencies, including information regarding tracking and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. See The Hill, Judge tells health agencies to restore website data. (The removal “violated a provision requiring federal agencies to provide “adequate notice or reasoned explanation.”)
Democratic Senators challenge Trump and Musk
Senator Dick Durbin demanded the GOP slow the confirmation process on Kash Patel because of allegations that he perjured himself in prior testimony before the Senate. See Talking Points Memo, Durbin Implores Senate GOP To ‘Pause’ On Patel Amid Claims He Covertly Managed FBI Purge. Durbin sent a letter detailing allegations from a whistleblower, who alleged that “Patel personally orchestrated a “purge” of senior law enforcement officials within the bureau.” Patel testified that he had no knowledge of the terminations.
And Senator Adam Schiff demanded that the White House investigate Musk’s conflicts of interests in his role on the DOGE committee. See The Hill, Schiff presses White House on Musk conflicts of interest, ethics. Schiff wrote to Susie Wiles, White House Chief of Staff,
[A]s a “special government employee,” Musk is subject to a federal criminal conflict of interest statute that bars government employees from participating in matters in which they have a financial interest.
Trump thereafter fired the chief ethics watchdog for the White House, who promptly obtained a court order suspending his termination. See Politico, Judge to Trump-terminated ethics watchdog: You’re un-fired.
The actions by Durbin and Schiff may not ultimately be successful, but they are the type of actions that all Democrats rightly expect from their congressional representatives.
Attacks on the press
The White House barred the Associated Press from an event in the Oval Office because the AP has made an editorial decision to continue to refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of Mexico, rather than the “Gulf of America,” as Trump mandated in an executive order. The White House sent a memo to the AP saying that the AP would be barred from a White House event because the AP was failing to “align itself with Trump's executive order.” See The Bulwark (video), This is some dark sh*t.
Memo to the press: Trump is selectively picking you off, one at a time. The obvious solution is to stick together. If the White House bars the AP from press events, then the entire White House press corps should refuse to attend the event. If you don’t stick together, you will fall (and fail) alone. See, e.g., NYTimes, Trump and Musk Attack Journalists by Name in Social Media Posts.
Opportunities for Reader Engagement
Yesterday, I discussed the statement by the American Bar Association calling on lawyers to defend the rule of law. That statement is a very positive development. Today, the organization Lawyers Defending American Democracy (LDAD), published a document entitled, LDAD announcement re Foreign Corrupt Practice Act and Call to Action by the Bar and Law Schools.
After discussing the decision by the DOJ to not enforce the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, LDAD writes,
We call on bar associations across the country, law school deans, law firms, and other legal organizations to recognize the urgency of this moment. These are the guardrails of democracy and the rule of law. Cautionary quiet only compounds the danger. Tomorrow will be more urgent, not less so.
LDAD is a great organization for attorneys looking for a place to make a difference. You can see LDAD in action when its co-founder and chair Scott Harshbarger, the former two-term Attorney General of Massachusetts, speaks at a program entitled: State of our Democracy and the Rule of Law - Sleepwalking into Autocracy. (Click on link for details of the program.)
Registration is free and open to the public. The program will take place on February 18, 2025 at 7:00 pm Eastern. Register here: Meeting Registration.
Concluding Thoughts
This is a rough time for everyone who values the rule of law. Almost everyone who fits that description wants to do the right thing, but it is difficult to know precisely what the most effective strategies are. And, most importantly, Democrats need to stick together. We are not the problem. Trump is the problem.
But the leaders of the Democratic Party—present and past—have failed to grasp the gravity of the moment. Rank-and-file Democrats and other concerned citizens are figuratively shaking their leaders by the shoulders and shouting, “Wake up! Don’t you get it?”
Although some leaders have made slow progress, others are still missing the moment. Incredibly, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer sent a “Dear Colleagues” letter saying that Democrats are willing to work toward a “bipartisan funding bill.” What is he thinking?
Schumer needs to look beyond the Senate to the decimation occurring in the executive branch in violation of Article I of the Constitution. Better yet, Democrats need to replace Schumer with someone willing to fight and someone who doesn’t hurt the Democratic brand every time he steps up to the microphone. Giving away bargaining positions in advance is a weak move during a time that demands strength.
While it is true that Democrats are in the minority in Congress, the next Democrat who invokes that excuse should resign now. We know it is tough. That’s why we elected you. We don’t need to be reminded that it is tough. Take all the time you are devoting to self-pity and rationalizations and spend it on a local radio show or in a town hall or in front of cable news cameras. Stop with the excuses. Fight. Lead. Act like you understand we are in an emergency.
In a truly disturbing report that may not tell the whole story, Axios is reporting that members of the House Democratic caucus whined to Minority Leader Jeffries that grassroots organizations like Indivisible and MoveOn are encouraging their followers to flood phone lines of Democratic lawmakers with calls. See Axios, Democrats "pissed" at MoveOn, Indivisible over Trump approach.
Per the Axios article,
"People are pissed," a senior House Democrat who was at the meeting said of lawmakers' reaction to the calls. The Democrat said Jeffries himself is "very frustrated" at the groups, who are trying to stir up a more confrontational opposition to Trump. A Jeffries spokesperson disputed that characterization and noted to Axios that their office regularly engages with dozens of stakeholder groups, including MoveOn and Indivisible, including as recently as Monday.
I don’t know where the truth lies in the above story, but (frankly), it feels like the Axios reporting is true. The reluctance of Democrats in the House to be more aggressive and outspoken suggests that they want to “go along to get along” and wake up when the coup is over.
Bless Indivisible, MoveOn, SwingLeft, and other grassroots organizations for trying to rouse Democratic members of Congress during a crisis.
So, let’s be plain about what we need from congressional Democrats:
Leadership.
Not “leadership on a committee,” or “leadership in the caucus,” or “leadership on the House floor,” but leadership outside of the Capitol—where the coup is unfolding. The people who elected you are bewildered by the yawning silence coming from 95% of the Democrats in Congress. If you are not up to the task, let us know. We can fix that.
In the meantime, do not continue to disappoint us or resent our demands that you step outside your comfort zone. We are in a crisis. We are all being called to step outside our comfort zones. Your phone lines would not be melting if you were in front of the cameras, in town hall meetings, on social media, and in the street with your constituents. We are calling because we want you to lead us, not because we think you are the problem.
But the problem extends beyond Democrats in Congress. Leigh McGowan, a.k.a. Politics Girl, has posted a video that demands to know “Where Are Our Leaders”—referring to former Democratic and Republican leaders like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Kamala Harris, George Bush, General Milley, General Austin, Leon Panetta . . . . and more. See Politics Girl, Where Are Our Leaders? (Warning: Leigh drops the “F” bomb early and often.)
To the extent that anyone suggests that the “coup” is over because Trump claimed he would abide by court rulings on Tuesday, you are sorely mistaken. Despite dozens of losses in court, Musk and Trump announced $600 million in cuts to the Department of Education—a grotesque violation of Article I and the Impoundment Control Act. And let’s not forget that Musk is infecting our government’s computer system with spyware, backdoors, unauthorized servers, and code changes—all to assume control of the central nervous systems of the government. You are deeply mistaken if you think that is not a coup because it doesn’t involve tanks rolling down Pennsylvania Avenue.
So, elected Democrats—current and former—step up! Your country needs you. We need you. We want you to lead us. Are we mad at you? Yep! But we will get over it as soon as you show that you are willing to stand by our side in the fight to save democracy.
Or you could bitch about us in closed-door meetings and then leak your complaints to the press. Your choice.

⏳ Word Count: 3k
🔗 Read it on Wattpad: in English, and in French
The sweet heat of the sun caressed the pale skin of the young girl, coaxing her out of her sleep like a lover. It warmed her, chasing away the icy echoes of the night — those hollow hours of discomfort she had experienced among all those guests, all those strangers.
Camilla winced. She hated mornings like this, waking up after another of her father’s social parties. They were nothing more than glittering facades to stockpile allies, probe enemies, and keep Hugo Laurent one step ahead in his power and mind games. They drained her, these nights, filled with shallow conversations and hollow gestures.
She despised the way her father used people like chess pieces, each event meticulously calculated to expand his influence.
She could predict the routine of these gatherings with nauseating precision.
First, the whisper of an “exclusive” party would spread, though in truth, there was nothing intimate about it. Her father, as a lawyer, had mastered at playing on the vanity of the upper class. He knew well that exclusivity was the golden bait.
Andrew would then be tasked with assembling everything — lavish decorations, staff bustling about like invisible hands, each detail designed to outdo the last soirée. And at last, her family would make their grand entrance: the perfect tableau of unity, all smiles and grace for an audience who had no idea of the fractures beneath the surface.
“Camilla?” Andrew’s voice, gentle yet firm, broke through the silence. She groaned, pulling the covers tighter.
“Yes?” She mumbled, praying he would leave her be, though deep down, she knew better. He never left without her. Not until she was presentable and ready to join her father at the breakfast table, another part of the routine.
“Your dad is waiting for you downstairs.”
Of course, he was. Her father expected nothing less than perfection.
“Tell him I’ll be down in a second!” She tried, the sweetness in her voice thin as ice, hoping to buy herself a few more minutes of peace.
“Camilla…” Andrew said softly. “He wants you to join him now.” A sigh of defeat escaped her lips.
“Fine, fine! Give me two seconds to put something decent on.” She heard Andrew’s faint chuckle through the door.
“Sure.”
The sunlight, still harsh and bright, spilled into the room as she yanked the curtains open, flooding the space with a blinding warmth. It was too much, too fast — like everything in her life these days.
She dragged herself towards the wardrobe, choosing a light-green floral dress that clung to her chest but flared out at the waist, soft and free. It was a small rebellion, something light and airy in a world that felt suffocating.
She slipped on her white tennis shoes and tied her hair into a high ponytail, the strands of her ginger locks defying the neatness of her effort. Andrew was waiting by the door when she opened it, his face calm, patient.
“You didn’t have to wait.” She teased half-heartedly; her voice touched with affection. “You know how much he hates it when I’m late.”
“The rules are the rules, Mademoiselle.” Andrew quipped, a twinkle in his eye.
His voice was joking, but Camilla knew there was always an edge of truth to the formalities the old man adhered to. She smiled, faint but genuine.
Andrew had always been more than a servant to her. He had been there when her father was not — helping her with homework, playing with her in the quiet corners of the house when the world forgot she existed. In his eyes, he could still see the little girl she once was. He had been her anchor in a home that no longer felt like hers.
When she walked into the dining room, her father barely glanced up from his newspaper.
“Ma fille, you look beautiful.” He commented offhandedly, his eyes still scanning the headlines.
Camilla nodded, not bothering to respond. Her father’s praise felt hollow, a scripted line from a play they both knew too well; and she did not care to act her part this morning.
“Father, I was wondering… Now that school’s over and you don’t seem to need me today, would you mind if I went out with T’?” Her voice was syrupy sweet, a practiced tone she used when she needed something from him.
Hugo looked up, a flicker of something — hurt, maybe — crossing his face before it was swallowed by indifference.
“Do as you wish.” He said briskly, standing up and leaving for his office, his sancturay.
The exchange was cold, polite, like strangers passing on the street.
The man she once called ‘Papa’ had disappeared two years ago, swallowed by grief and denial. He had buried their shared pain with their loss, refused to acknowledge it, refused to acknowledge her.
The silence between them was suffocating. She did not blame him — at least, she told herself that she did not. But it hurt. More than she ever allowed herself to admit. Her throat tightened with the weight of unshed tears, memories clawing at her chest, but she swallowed them down.
Not today. She had gotten good at locking those feelings away. She downed her orange juice and fled the dining room, out the door, where Topper’s familiar voice greeted her.
“Hey, I thought you’d never show.” He grinned.
“Still a morning person, I see?” Kelce teased, his voice dripping with sarcasm, but his smile was playful.
“Haha, hilarious, Kelce.” She retorted, rolling her eyes but feeling the warmth of their easy banter soothe the ache in her chest.
“You know what Topper, I’m pretty sure we should not take her with us… This girl is too condescending… Plus I kinda hate her…”
“Oh, shut up, we all know you love me!”
These boys, her friends — they were her escape. A distraction from the emptiness of home.
She opened the backseat door, revealing Rafe and Sarah. She got in, and Topper took off to the golf court.
“So, T’, you hate me that much?” Camilla asked her cousin while placing her head in between the two front seats, patting the boys shoulder. “I mean putting me in the no-man’s land… Huh?”
“Oh, come on they didn’t even argue yet…” Kelce said, pushing her back in her sit while she stuck her tongue out at him.
The banter between them filled the remaining car ride to the golf course, the tension of the morning lifting as they all settled into the familiar rhythm of laughter and teasing. Even Rafe, with his brooding energy, managed to coax a smile from her as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, planting a kiss on her cheek. It was fleeting, a rare softness from him that made her heart flutter, but she quickly brushed it off.
When they arrived at the golf course, the boys were already eager to get into their game, while she and Sarah lagged behind, chatting idly about nothing and everything. The subject of Rafe inevitably came up, and Camilla found herself smiling despite herself.
“So, my brother huh? You like him? I mean you certainly do since you two are pretty close…” Sarah asked curiously.
“I mean he is cute and quite nice with me…” The blond girl started to laugh when Camilla added, “In a Rafe way… I mean I’ve never seen him smile or be nice… He is always so tensed.”
“Tell me about it… I live with the boy. 24/7. I swear that’s the worst torment God could have afflicted me!”
“Okay… Look. I know he is a dick, most of the time. I mean I had my fair share of it… But I don’t know, when he is with me, he’s different. Softer. Like he leaves all the anger behind.” Sarah raised an eyebrow, her laughter a soft burst.
“Soften? My brother? Are we talking about the same Rafe?” Camilla’s smile faltered, just for a moment.
Maybe she was imagining it to make it all softer on her. Maybe the version of Rafe she saw — the one who let his guard down, who smiled, who was not so damn hard all the time — was not real. But then again, was not that her entire life? The illusion of something that used to be, something that never really was?
The day passed in laughter and fleeting moments of joy.
Soon, lunch time came, and the little group walked towards the country club’s restaurant in order to eat. They laughed; making memories at times they were happy in order to remember them when they were really down. They then took Topper’s new boat out and went on a little cruise on the marsh.
The boat ride, the wind, the water — it all felt like a glimpse of freedom. For a little while, the weight of her world lifted, and she was just Camilla again, not Hugo Laurent’s daughter, not the broken girl everyone thought they knew.
“Okay, okay! Boys! Listen up!” Camilla said over the group of boys who were loudly singing, alcohol running in their veins. “What do you think about, we get to my house, take my brother’s boards and go surf a little bit? I haven’t been in such a long time!” She asked with a big smile when she got the attention of the group.
“I would be down but at this time those Pogues are gonna be there.” Kelce said with a disgusted smile.
“So? Are you really gonna deprive yourself from a very good time with your friends just because some other people on the beach? Come on Kelce… You are a strong Kook as you always say!” Camilla tried to reason the boys, hating the words that were coming out of her mouth.
“Yeah, she is right boys.” Rafe agreed.
“That would be cool, but I can’t tonight…” Sarah said. “Scarlett invited me to come over to her house…”
“Sarah, babe, come with us…” Topper pleaded.
“Hey T’ stop being a simp! I think you will survive without her…” Camilla gently mocked him. “We’ll drop you off on the way there!” She then said turning to the blond girl.
They did as they said, and in a blink of an eye, they were at the beach, taking their clothes off, just to leave them in their swimsuit, getting ready to hit the waves.
As they neared the water, the familiar sight of the Pogues made her stomach churn. She knew what was coming. The boys would pick a fight, the tension would spike, and she would be caught in the middle, like always.
But she wanted to come here, she had not surfed in a very so long, she was not going to let them distract her and ruin her happiness. She deserved it. After all the bad times she had spent the past two years, dealing with the emptiness her broken family had left, she deserved to spend some good moments, to make some new happy memories, just like she did in the afternoon.
When JJ cracked a joke at her expense, she barely flinched. But something in the way he smiled, that cocky grin of his — there was something beneath it. Something familiar. She hated how she noticed it. How even when he mocked her, his words still left a twinge in her chest, a strange mix of hurt and something else — something that made her breath catch for just a moment.
“Gotta admit, Laurent, you look a little lost here. Still tagging along with your trust-fund boys?” JJ’s voice was playful, as he shouted from his board, but there was a spark in his eyes, a challenge.
Camilla shot back a biting reply, her tone sharp as ever, but her voice wavered slightly, as she walked into the ocean, to meet with her friends who were already floating in the waves.
Their gazes locked for just a second too long. There was heat in that look, something unresolved, and though she quickly buried it, her heart stuttered in response. She pushed the feeling aside. It was ridiculous. JJ Maybank was nothing but trouble. Rafe’s arm snaked around her shoulder, pulling her back to the present.
“You’re not worth it.” He sneered at JJ, his anger palpable as he squared up to the blond Pogue, the tension thickening between them.
But instead of retaliating, JJ simply smirked.
His blue eyes lingered on Camilla, just for a moment — a moment that felt like a spark in a room full of gasoline. She caught it, that subtle shift in his gaze, and for the briefest second, something flickered between them. She did not know what it was — did not want to know. It made her stomach twist in a way that confused her.
She looked away quickly, not willing to confront whatever that feeling was.
And as the tension between Rafe and JJ was about to escalate further, Kiara’s voice cut through the moment, sharp as a blade.
“Are you kidding me? What happened to the girl who always avoided fights?” Camilla met Kiara’s gaze, feeling a pang of the old Camilla stirring beneath the surface — the version of herself who used to avoid conflict, who stayed in the shadows of the chaos around her.
But that girl was fading fast, leaving behind someone who no longer cared to play the peacekeeper. The part of her that still longed for an escape, for something more, struggled against the new reality she’d resigned herself to. She didn’t answer Kiara.
Instead, she turned away, biting back the words gnawing at her insides. She hated the constant tug-of-war within her — the Camilla who wanted to run and the Camilla who had chosen to stay.
“I didn’t even know she was back…” Kiara said, her face betraying confusion, as she walked the group of Kook laughing in the distance.
“Yeah… She arrived yesterday.” JJ replied nonchalantly, his focus shifting toward the wave building in the distance.
“How come he knows that?” Kiara pressed, raising an eyebrow at the surprising piece of information.
“His dad hired him to work for them.” Pope explained, watching JJ ride the next wave with ease. “Said he didn’t care who he worked for as long as the money was good.”
“Of course, he doesn’t care.” John B chimed in, rolling his eyes as he recalled the conversation they had earlier.
“Wow, that asshole almost hit me on a wave!” JJ complained, paddling back toward them.
“Probably wanted to make some space for his girlfriend.” Pope teased, nodding toward Camilla as she caught a wave of her own, her body gracefully balancing on the board.
Camilla took the wave with practiced ease, her body moving like she was born to surf. But just as she neared the shore, her foot slipped. She tumbled into the water with a splash.
A second later, she emerged, laughter bursting from her in a way that felt contagious, her face glowing with a huge, carefree smile. The wind tousled her hair as she wiped the water from her face. She missed this — the feeling of the sea against her skin, the rush of the waves beneath her board. There was nothing like it.
For a brief moment, she was free, unburdened by everything else weighing her down.
“I don’t like her, but I gotta admit, she’s really good at surfing.” Kiara conceded, crossing her arms as she watched Camilla from the shore.
“Not only at surfing…” JJ quipped with a mischievous grin, the words rolling off his tongue before he could stop himself.
“Oh my god, JJ,” Kiara groaned, smacking his arm. “I could’ve gone my whole life without hearing that.”
As she turned away, her friends chuckled, but JJ’s eyes lingered on Camilla for just a moment longer.
There was something different about seeing her like this, out of the gilded cage of the Kook world, laughing without a care in the world. He did not know what it was, but something about her today gnawed at the edges of his thoughts.
The Kooks started heading back to the beach, their laughter trailing in the wind, but even as the distance grew, Camilla felt JJ’s gaze, like a shadow she could not shake.
She told herself it did not matter — that she did not care. But the lie tasted bitter on her tongue. As she climbed back into the car with Rafe and the others, she could not shake the feeling that something had shifted. Something subtle, but real.
JJ’s voice lingered in her mind, his teasing words intertwining with that look he’d given her—a look she wasn’t ready to think about just yet.
The car ride was quiet, Camilla lost in thought. She dropped her friends off one by one before heading home, the energy of the day still buzzing around her, but fading with each mile.
As she unlocked her front door, her father gave her a confused look.
“Everything okay?”
“Yeah, just tired.” She muttered, walking straight to the kitchen to grab a water bottle.
The house felt too still, a sharp contrast to the excitement and tension of earlier. She slipped upstairs and closed the door behind her. Sinking onto the edge of her bed, she buried her face in her hands.
Today had been amazing — she had laughed, surfed, and felt truly alive. But then there was him — JJ. His teasing, his lingering gaze, the way he seemed to read her without speaking — it was too much. She did not understand why it drained her so completely, why he left her feeling raw, exposed.
Maybe it was how he effortlessly crossed that line between playful and something deeper, something she was not ready to face, something she would never be allowed to face.
She threw herself back onto the mattress, staring at the ceiling. Her mind replayed fragments of the afternoon at the beach — the jokes, the fleeting touches of an eye. She did not know how to feel about it anymore.
All she knew was that something about JJ had sucked the joy out of her night, leaving her feeling unsteady, unsure. With a deep sigh, she closed her eyes, trying to think of a way to shake it off, but her exhaustion won. She drifted off, the weight of the day pressing down on her.

Get Reliable Statistics Assignment Help for Big Data Projects
Big data projects are the most exciting yet challenging tasks in statistics. Most of the assignments contain a huge amount of data, and students cannot handle such a volume and complexity of data. From predictive analytics to data visualization, statistics assignment help may become a game changer when it comes to simplifying complex tasks.
Common Big Data Projects in Statistics
The applications of big data projects in statistics vary across a wide spectrum, some of which are as follows:
Predictive Analytics: Involves applying time series foretelling by using historical trend data in stocks or sales via regression analysis to make statements on future ones.
Data Mining and Pattern Recognition: Extracting hidden patterns, for example, about product associations or user behaviors using techniques such as cluster analysis or association rule mining.
Machine Learning Models: Creating the designs for regression and classification models on tasks related to spam detection or sales prediction using Python, R, or TensorFlow.
Sentiment Analysis: It includes text mining and natural language processing for the processing of unstructured data like customer reviews or feedback in social media.
Data Visualization: This includes providing insights as graphical representations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Matplotlib.
Issues Faced by Students in Big Data Statistics Projects
While big data projects are rewarding, they have their challenges that sometimes may overwhelm students. Some of the common challenges include:
Data Volume and Complexity: There is a lot of data in large, complex datasets, whether structured or unstructured, to be cleaned, preprocessed, and organized efficiently.
Advanced Statistical Techniques: Multivariate regression, PCA, Bayesian inference, or techniques of this nature presuppose a certain depth of knowledge and practice.
Practical Competency of Tools: Hadoop, Spark, or SQL are some of the tools to handle big data. The dearth of practical experience makes these tools intimidating to students.
Time Constraints: The shortage of time for handling, processing, analyzing, and interpreting is bound to add tension to such data, especially for individuals who often need to fulfil so many academic commitments all at the same time.
Insight Extraction: The mere analysis of data is not sufficient; insights can only be extracted through critical thinking and the inculcation of statistical knowledge into practice.

Oh….
Your locker looked slightly different today.
It was festooned with ribbons, little pictures of cats and, inexplicably, squirrels, star and heart stickers, and glitter. There was even a card dangling from the knob. You stood stock still in front of it, trying to process the tableau? creation? mess in front of you. There was only one person in the entire school you knew would try something like this. And, here he came down the hall, a wide grin on his face.
“Han Jisung, did you do this?” you demanded as he approached. Shouldn’t a senior have more dignity than this?
“Do you like it?” Jisung replied, leaning against the lockers beside yours.
“I’m not sure what I think, but I know that it’s now practically impossible for me to get to my locker.” You tried to push some of the decorations out of the way. “Why did you have to do this?”
“Did you at least read the card?” Jisung asked hopefully, pouting a little.
You cursed him for looking so cute when he pouted, then mentally shook yourself. “No, I didn’t. And it’s almost first bell, so if you could move? Please?”
Jisung’s face fell, but he moved away slightly. “Aw, come on, princess! Can’t you read the card while I’m still here?”
“Jisung, please leave me alone, will you? It’ll be hard enough getting through all this stuff as it is.”
Jisung laughed lightly, giving you a fond smile that was completely lost on you as you struggled with his decorations, then strolled away into the crowd of onlookers who, by now, were used to his outrageous displays of affection for you. “Remember to read the card, Y/N!” he called over his shoulder.
You let your head fall against your locker and got a face full of glitter for your trouble. Damn it, Jisung, you thought as you hurriedly tried to wipe the glitter from your forehead. Then, after a two minutes of wrestling with the Jisung’s additions to your locker door, you managed to retrieve the books you’d need for the day.
In your first class, a couple people gave you strange looks because of the remnants of glitter on you, but no one said anything about the locker decorations. It would only be a matter of time, though, you knew. At lunch when your best friends found you, they gently teased you about “lover boy.”
“How many times has he done something like that this year, Y/N?” Irene asked, smirking at you.
“This is the fourth,” you muttered, looking down at your food. “Two other letters, too.” You could feel heat rising to your cheeks.
“He really is insistent, isn’t he,” Mei commented, shaking her head. “Aren’t you at least annoyed?”
You were silent for a moment as you chewed. “No, amazingly not annoyed. I guess I’m just indifferent?” you lied. In reality, you kind of liked how much Jisung tried to get your attention, but you were going to make him work for your affection. But not too much because that would be mean.
“Like hell you are,” Irene laughed, nudging you with her elbow. “You’re into him, aren’t you.”
“I’m not!” you insisted. “Really!”
Irene and Mei just gave you disbelieving looks, but continued eating their lunch all the same.
When you went back to your locker that afternoon, Irene and Mei in tow, the ribbons and such were gone, but the card… The card was slipped through the crack between the frame and door of the locker, and fell to the floor when you opened it. Receiving cards from Jisung was nothing new, and you didn’t mind much because he was never creepy about it. Sighing, you retrieved the card and opened it.
“What the hell?” Mei coughed, the scent you knew Jisung wore wafting up from the card-stock on which he’d penned his letter. “Did he really have to do that?”
You just shrugged and leaned against your open locker to read.
Y/N, oh beautiful Y/N!
How could I ever write anything as beautiful as you are?
Your eyes sparkle like the glint of sunlight off a puddle that has just a bit of oil in it—you know, so it’s like a rainbow? Your voice is as melodious as the song birds that wake me up in the morning. And your words… They’re like acupuncture needles: relieving of stress and pain but capable of just the same.
I wish to present my heart to you, to simply give it to you like a flower. But alas, I cannot as that would be messy. I would give you my service were I a knight and you a lady, or put myself in your power like a human subjugate to a vampire. Because, all that I do is to win your heart, your wondrous, wondrous heart!
Dearest Y/N, I’m like a volcano of love for you—erupting with love and affection all over the place. I hope my words don’t leave a bad taste in your mouth, since I wouldn’t want your words to become anything short of honey.
Forever yours,
Han Jisung
You stood there for a moment, trying to keep a straight face as your friends burst out laughing and exclaimed at how cheesy Jisung was. They weren’t wrong. But— Jisung had really written all that to you, and beneath the slightly strained metaphors and verbosity, you could tell that his feelings were true. You playfully shoved Irene, who was now trying to wrest the card from your hands.
However overblown Jisung sounded or dramatic his displays were, you knew he was a good person. You couldn’t be mad at him, especially when he was just so damn cute. Quickly stuffing the letter into your backpack, you slung it over your shoulder and said goodbye to your friends. They called after you that they’d also erupt all over the place with love for you. You just rolled your eyes.
As you scuffed your boots through the small piles of snow that had drifted into the walkway and buried your face in your scarf, you could still faintly smell the perfume Jisung had added to the letter. It wasn’t that bad, after all, and the spiciness of it reminded you of the feeling when you’ve settled down with a good book under a thick blanket. You could definitely get used to it.
↠↞
Ah, February. As soon as the first day of the month arrived, you were wary of what Jisung might decide to do on any of the days surrounding Valentine’s Day. But, you barely saw Jisung. That in and of itself was odd, since you had two classes with him that semester, including Western Literature from 1750 to 1920; but it was odder still because he usually made a point of talking to you once every day, if not more. You’d never admit it to anyone besides your raccoon plushie, but you found yourself disappointed every time he didn’t talk to you or wave or flash one of his ridiculous smiles your way in the halls.
At the end of the first week, you received another letter, also slipped into your locker. This time, you waited until you got home to read it. The letter was far more staid, with none of the extravagance or hyperbole of the other one; no whiff of perfume graced the card-stock, either. Jisung was straightforward, expressing that he found you attractive and even apologizing for being so outrageous in his attempts to woo you. You read the last lines as you curled up in bed.
I hope the depth and sincerity of my feelings are plain to you and that you can at least accept them, if not return them. I would be blissfully happy if you did return my feelings, but I hold no expectations for you. Please know that I admire and adore you, Y/N, light of my heart.
Forever yours,
Han Jisung
As you read his words over and over and over again, unable to tear your eyes nor thoughts away, you realized that, yes, you did return his feelings. You hadn’t quite internalized that, but reading his sentiments had certainly put things in perspective for you. If you didn’t give him some indications of your mutual feelings soon, you could quite possibly lose Jisung altogether.
I admire and adore you…..
On February 13th, you decided to treat yourself to a nice tea and a snack at a local coffeeshop. You knew it would be fairly busy, but didn’t mind; sometimes, the bustle of people was a welcome change from your usual, studious existence.
The smell of baked goods, coffee, and cardboard met your nose as you opened the door, letting a blast of warm air out onto the street. Carefully, you made your way into the line that snaked through the small shop, and tried not to eavesdrop on the conversations around you. That plan, however, did not work well. You enjoyed taking in all the sounds around you far too much to ignore something as integral as conversations. Person by person, the line moved forward until you were one away from the counter.
And, of course, your phone buzzed just at that moment with a text from Mei. You quickly responded, but didn’t notice that the person ahead of you had been helped.
“Y/N?”
Your head shot up to see none other than Han Jisung standing behind the counter, looking just as shocked as you felt.
“Oh! H-hi, Jisung,” you stammered and shoved your phone back into your pocket, embarrassed.
“What would you like today?” Jisung asked politely. You could tell he was trying to remain on his best behavior, as he was at work.
“Could I have a scone and an Earl Grey tea, please? With just a little cream. Thank you!” you chirped, glad that your nervousness over ordering food hadn’t taken hold of you today.
“Sure, thing,” Jisung smiled. “Just pay and one of us will come find you with your order.” Then, because he clearly couldn’t help himself, he winked at you.
You shook your head, your mouth quirking up at the corner a little, and moved over to pay for your food. Since the cafe was more than a little crowded, you chose one of the few seats open by the window. There, at least, you could look out onto the snow-dusted shops and people watch if, and when, you became bored with your homework.
Shortly thereafter, you felt a presence next to you and found Jisung poised to place a steaming mug of tea and your scone on the high table in front of you.
“Here you are,” Jisung said, voice warm and kind as he set the food in front of you. “It’s nice to see you, Y/N. Enjoy!”
Before you could say anything else, Jisung had turned and slipped away through the maze of occupied tables and chairs. Thoughtfully, you took a minute sip of your tea and sighed. It was delicious as always, and the scone was just as good, too.
An hour later, the cafe had nearly emptied but you were still there, nursing your tea. Perched at the table in the window, you could simply soak up the last of the afternoon sun as you worked on drafting an essay for your Literature class. It was the perfect arrangement—the cafe owner didn’t mind if you stayed there for a long time, and you had a place in which you could peacefully work while remaining energized.
Beside you sat the plate with your half-eaten scone on it, and the mug of tea. Absentmindedly, you reached for the mug and brought it to your lips to take a sip. You frowned when no tea met your lips. Before you could so much as move, Jisung was beside you.
“Hey, I noticed you were close to finishing your tea, so I made you another,” he said as he exchanged one mug for another. “It’s on me.” You stared at him, and he shifted self-consciously. “And, um, make sure to check under the mug, okay?”
“I— Thanks, Jisung,” you said, surprised at how gentle your own voice was. “I will.”
Jisung smiled at you before returning to the counter where a new customer had just arrived. You looked after him, amazed that he’d noticed you were coming down to the dregs of your tea. Lifting up the mug, you saw a small, folded piece of paper stuck to its bottom—it looked like receipt paper. Knowing what you’d find when you unfolded it, you carefully detached the paper—the letter—from the mug and read:
Dear Y/N,
I don’t want to keep acting like a gaudy peacock around you. I’m sorry. I know it must make me seem a bit…insensitive or outrageous or something like that. Someone I don’t want you to think I am, I guess.
You are incredible, intelligent, beautiful, kind, and caring. In short, the loveliest person I’ve ever had the honor to meet or know.
I hope… Well, you know. You must know.
All that is to say: I love you.
- Jisung
You reread the letter once more, feeling tears prick the back of your eyes as what felt like all the tenderness in the world welled inside you. Turning round in your chair, you looked to the counter where you saw Jisung nervously looking at you. The vulnerability in his eyes, the hope, the worry, the passion, everything made your breath catch. In something like a trance, you slid from your chair, still clutching the note, and made your way to the end of the counter where Jisung stood.
Taking a deep breath, you said to the shift manager—if their badge was anything to go by—“Could I speak with Jisung outside for a moment? It’s a matter of the heart. I hope you understand,” then grabbed Jisung’s hand as the shift manager nodded. Jisung did not protest as you pulled him outside with you, the cold air hitting you both like a hammer.
You didn’t let go of Jisung’s hand as you turned to face him, looking up into his deep brown eyes that were so dark that they seemed to lead to another world. You knew now that you’d gladly travel to that other world. Jisung’s lips parted slightly as he prepared to speak.
“Jisung,” you breathed before he could begin, “your letter… All of your letters, really… They’re everything to me. This one,” you held up the small piece of paper in your hand, “in particular, is perfect. And, I do know.”
Jisung didn’t wait for you to say anything else. He drew you toward him, one hand coming up to gently brush over your cheek as the other held your waist. Then slowly, so slowly, leaned down to brush his lips against yours. He was hesitant, as if he expected you to turn and run, but when you didn’t let him pull away as you locked your lips with his, Jisung knew that all his fears were unfounded. You wrapped your arms around his neck as Jisung cupped your face, kissing him back like you wanted to memorize the feel and taste of him. Again, you were overwhelmed by the feelings you felt and clutched Jisung tighter, making him smile against you lips.
“Thank you, Y/N,” he whispered in your ear as he hugged you to his chest. “You really are the light of my life.”

Listen To Your Auntie Alice
Part 1 Part 2
Alice sits Bella on a log with a thermos of mint tea. They watch fat clouds pass over the moon. They are far enough away, had passed over streams and over treetops, they’d vampire-skitched on the tops of passing big rigs. Bella had cackled like a wild thing, death as impossible and far off for a teenager as it was for an immortal.
Bella sips the tea and Alice says “Close your eyes. Imagine for a moment, just a moment, that you dump my stupid brother. I’m not joking. Just try it. Good.” Alice says. “My brother’s gift is mind reading. Mine is clairvoyance. Do you want to know what your future will look like without him?”
“You don’t want me to date him,” Bella says.
“It’s not a threat. In this instance, Bella, you are not the one anyone has designs on threatening. Come on, you’ll love it, it’s pretty good.”
Bella shrugs, and says “Sure.” As unsure as she is.
Alice leans back and smiles as she sees it.
Growing old, smile lines, and a long tumble of un-dyed, thick, grey-streaked hair. A house by the beach that looked exactly the way she wanted it. Friends, closer than family laughing over rosé and cards. Rolling her eyes at old familiar jokes, memories of road trips, and magic. A world opened once when she was young and never closed again. Werewolves, though Alice couldn’t recommend them, grilling up far too many burgers at a late hour and putting them all away. A witch’s familiar sits on a wolf’s shoulder. The witch in question puts a sprig of red blooming rosemary in Bella’s hair. A Greenman is drunk and laughing. He lays back on a dining table and draws new leaves out from old wooden furniture. Bella sits in the center, a pillow pressed to her chest, warm and glad. A life lived beautifully, richly.
“It’s only a possibility of course, but damn,” Alice says.
“There’s more than just vampires?” Bella’s eyes are wide with a child’s wonder. She clasps the cup of tea to her chest.
“Bella, the world is ginormous. There’s more than exists in that little tableau of your possible future.”
“I think I’m falling in love with him.” She says like a confession.
“Yeah, makes sense. He looks like that. He acts as though he’s tortured somehow when he just doesn’t have any hobbies. Immortality is wasted on some people.” She grins. “Anyway, like I said, if you keep your eyes open the world won’t stop being weird and interesting. A quartz old man who looks like a haunted doll isn’t the most exciting thing that’ll ever happen to you. That’s not a prediction. That’s lived experience. Here’s the most important bit, Bella, the first time you fall in love won't be the last. (Not a prediction.)”
“Does he do this a lot? Make girls feel like this?” She drowns whatever she’s feeling in tea.
“Honestly, no. We genuinely don’t know what’s gotten into him. He’s going through something and he’s dragging you into it.”
“Maybe I could help,” Bella says, young, and open-hearted, and brave.
“That is not your job.”
“But, he’s my friend. I should try to help him.”
Alice thinks about her response very carefully. “He’ll be fine. He has an eternity to figure himself out. You have, I don’t know upwards of 80 years (not a prediction). Spending your life trying to fix his when he’s been at it longer than you’ve been alive isn’t going to do you any favors. Oh shit.”
“What?” Bella said suddenly, sitting bolt upright at the tone in Alice’s voice.
“Did you do the history essay on the economic impact of the war in Vietnam?”
“Alice, you lived through the 70s.”
“On a remote farm training sheepdogs, Bella. It’s a grey area.”
Bella laughed. “Do you want to cheat off my work? Didn’t someone say you’d graduated High School a bunch of times?”
“Life is long, homework is so little of it.”
“I don’t know, you’ve been going to high school longer than I’ve been alive,” Bells says. “I hear I shouldn’t spend my life trying to fix your problems.”
“You’re a little twerp,” Alice says.
“My vampire boyfriend’s vampire sister takes me out in the woods and gives me my own shovel talk, then asks me for my history notes,” Bella says.
“See? Lots of fun stuff happens without Edward around to cry all over it.”
“Tell me about the dogs.”
“Oh Bella, let me tell you about the dogs.”

On Friday afternoon Marinette was inside the kitchen helping her father with the pastries for their bakery.
“Don’t forget, the vanilla creme is in the fridge. You don’t need to fill it” Mr. Dupain informed his daughter, which filled on a tableau with open Éclairs a cream made of hazelnut.
“Okay dad” Marinette responded filling the last empty crust then she rolled the top of the bag, then took a clamp to tighten it, then before she stored it into the fridge, next to it she ripped out of a plastic dispenser a foil out and covered the opening with it, then she put it back in the fridge, then took another green-colored piping bag, then checked on the etiquette on the side the name of it and she closed the door of the fridge, afterward she walked back to her place, so she could continue the next tableau.
The door between the bakery and the kitchen was opened by the mother of Marinette, who looked into the bakery, while behind her stood the older brother of Juleka looking into the kitchen, where the Dupain-Chengs were working.
“We got a visit” Sabine mentioned and Tom looked at his wife along with Marinette to see Luka Couffaine standing there.
“If that’s not my favorite guy,” Tom said watching Luka smile courteous at the man. “Welcome back”
“You really got a lot of work to do today, Mr. Dupain” Luka said walking across the kitchen stopping in front of the man, which was modeling a few dough buns to be baked.
“There was a big order today by the TV1 studio, which has to be ready at 6.30 am.” Explained the father of Marinette. “Marinette came here to help me, while my wife is out there attending some costumers.”
“I was supposed to visit Marinette, but since she’s here I could help somewhere, if necessary”
“A pair of hands more would be not bad, right Marinette?” Asked Tom looking at her daughter finishing a dozen of Éclairs, then she placed her pastry bag next to the tableaus and walked beside the two quickly.
“I’m going to get him an apron” Marinette offered passing by Luka, which followed her.
“I can get them, you don’t need to stop during the filling,” Luka said watching Marinette take an apron from the closet on the other side near the bags of flour. Marinette turned around walking back at Luka slipping on the scattered flour on the ground, shrieking Luka who quickly reacted and caught Marinette before she fell down on the ground.
“You’re lucky I got you,” Luka said making Marinette grin bashful at her mishap, afterward he helped her get back on her feet and she gave him the apron for him to put it on, afterward he followed her to the tableaus on the counter of the kitchen.
“You can fill the rest of the Éclair’s with the hazelnut creme,” Marinette told her boyfriend instructing him, how to use the pastry bag. “Here I gotta prepare Strawberry-creme for the last tableau.”
“Okay and what about the heads?” Questioned Luka glancing back at the blue-haired girl.
“They’ll be chocolate” Responded Marinette. “It’s right there on the stove on the pan with the bowl melting.”
“Alright,” Luka said starting to fill the crusts with the hazelnut cream.
“Have you found somewhere a place, where you could start a job formation?” Questioned Mr. Dupain observing Luka gently doing the job, Marinette had given him.
“I had to leave the last workplace because it wasn’t appropriate for apprentices” Responded Luka. “The previous apprentices complained, that they always had to do the dirty jobs and rarely were taught anything about it”
“What did you actually start before?” Questioned the father of the girlfriend. “Was it also as a carpenter?”
“No this time it was as a tinsmith at a service station” Responded the raven-haired boy. “Except the previous place got closed because they went bankrupt and that happened after I got my contract signed with them and only been there for three months”
“And what dirty jobs did they give you to do at the last place you were?”
“Wash cars, the tires, vacuum the interior of them. Jobs no one else there would do” Luka replied. “The other apprentices told me, they did the same and I got to talk with the chef and he fired me, cause I was the only one to have the guts to tell him, that he was only using us as cheap workers and didn’t really care if we could get a good formation or not.”
“Some people are abusive nowadays when it’s about the money-making”
“You’re totally right, Mr. Dupain” Luka agreed finishing the tableau, Marinette had started before and placed the piping bag on the side and looked around for a clamp, then looked at the drawers of the counter if he could find any.
Tom Dupain watched Luka storing the piping away correctly, then he walked up at Marinette to see her taking the chocolate off the stove and Marinette took another pastry bag, that she had prepared a while ago and held it next to the bowl, which Luka took and let the melted chocolate drop down into the bag. “Luka, can I talk to you for a moment?” Mr. Dupain asked earning a nod from the young boy. “Marinette is after the end of her school year going to start here at our bakery a course as a confectioner and you already helped us out sometimes and know our house very well. If you’re interested, we could use a second help here?“ Suggested the brown-haired man. „As a baker or...?“ „Yes....of course first I need to see, if it would be possible to arrange a second apprentice or you would have the need to wait until Marinette would have finished her course or maybe you would start the next semester and needed to catch up the stuff you missed at the school”
“I….I don’t know what to say. I wasn’t expecting this offer at all”
“You can choose if you want it or no” Replied Tom. “But I still need to warn you, that it might also not work out and we really have to wait for Marinette to finish the course first”
“I really would love to accept your invitation, if possible. If in the case I really need to wait for Marinette to finish her course I still want to look as now for any other places to see if I can find another job. My mom said what mattered the most was getting the diploma after the end of the course”
“Sure and she’s right about it”
“It would be amazing if Luka would stay here with us and do along with me the course,” Marinette said wrapping the end of the piping bag and hold her palm down at the opening, so the chocolate wouldn’t run out. “We could help each other out with the homework. Study together, help each other out at something we’re not good enough, help you and Maman out whenever necessary.”
“I see if I’ve got time tomorrow to get myself informed about it and I tell you, what we talked about. Is that good for you?” Tom Dupain asked earning a nod from the brother of Juleka.
“This is very kind of you Mr. Dupain. How can I thank you?” Luka questioned grabbing the man on the arm, followed by Marinette giggle at his father’s surprise at the boy.
“Maybe pay us all a round of beer?” Suggested Mr. Dupain jokingly making the two youngsters laugh.
“Well I’m really not into alcoholic drinks, Mr. Dupain” Luka confessed a little embarrassed.
“So am I, boy” Admitted Marinette’s father. “A nice fresh glass of lemonade or orange juice is fine too”
“And healthier” Added Marinette smiling at the two males earning a nod from them. “I’ll get them later and before I go I’ll show Luka how to finish the Éclairs,” Marinette said walking along with Luka to the tableaus again, then she used the pastry bag to pipe on the head of the Éclairs, while Luka paid attention to how he had to do it.
At the Agreste’s mansion, Emilie Agreste sat in the living room on a pink carpet together with her now 5-month-old daughter in front of a xylophone together. Hope Agreste was now a little bigger now and wore a salmon pink body and her hair had grown a little more, nearly unnotable due to the light blonde color of her hair making it seem hard to recognize the amount of hair. Hope held on each hand a wooden stick, which she used as mallets to beat on the xylophone to make a sound.
“All the little ducklings swam on the river. Side by side, side by side, they swam alike behind the mama.” Mrs. Agreste sang at the girl, which tapped randomly on the xylophone with her mallets making music to the song the mother sang for her.
Emilie giggled at how adorable she found her daughter playing on the instrument her own melody, then heard the echo of her husband’s voice greeting someone at the hall where the entrance was, then footsteps on the marble floor coming closer to the living room and by the door appeared her son Adrien Agreste along with company.
“Hi mom” Greeted Adrien. “Kagami came to visit us again,” Adrien told followed by the girl stepping beside him to look into the living room and smile as she saw Adrien’s sister playing on the xylophone.
“Aww, she’s a really talented musician too” The Japanese complimented stunned at the little girl playing the instrument. Emilie chuckled, then placed her hand on her baby’s back, making her stop and look up with her blue-bell eyes.
“Look who has arrived?” Asked Mrs. Agreste looking together with the girl at Adrien and Kagami, causing the baby to laugh happily at seeing the two. “Are you going to tell them hello?” Emilie asked helping the girl a little in going down on the four, so she could crawl towards the two teens, who went down on their knees watching the girl heading up to the two.
“Hey little sis” Adrien greeted watching the girl approach him, then he picked her up, sitting down on the floor to hug her. “Have you missed your big bro?” Adrien asked leaning his forehead on the child. “Cause I have missed you. Yes, your big brother missed Hope a lot” Adrien said with a playfully voice at the girl, making her laugh. “And do you know, who she is?” Asked Adrien holding his sister in his arms to introduce her to his girlfriend, which smiled enamored at the toddler, which grinned excitedly at seeing the girl. “Kagami is also here with me and we are all gonna have lots of fun, aren’t we?” Adrien asked making Hope clap with her hands. Adrien snickers about his little sister, then watched Kagami cover her face with the hands, making Adrien wide his eyes noting, what Kagami was about to do. “Oh no Hope, where did Kagami go?” Adrien asked pretending to be shocked, believing she was gone and Hope looked around confused not understanding, what exactly was going on.
“Peek-a-boo!” Kagami peeped uncovering her eyes surprising the baby as she found out Kagami was there.
“Oh she’s back, how did she do that?” Asked Adrien pretending to be astonished by it, then watched Kagami covering her face again disappearing in the eyes of the baby, but still sitting there with her face covered waiting for the girl to get confused again.
“Ami?” Hope murmured looking bewildered again about Kagami’s disappearance and shrieked as Kagami uncovered her face again to surprise her.
“Peek-a-boo!” Kagami peeped again making Hope laugh at the girl, then Kagami grabbed the baby girl to hug her and tickle her under the arms, making her laugh.
Tikki and Plagg appeared over their holders watching the teens play with the young girl, making Tikki feel enchanted at the sight of it, while Plagg just rolled his eyes.
“Plagg, don’t be a sourpuss. She’s so adorable”
“Well I’ve gotta admit, she’s not bad to look at. She’s….nice” Responded Plagg glancing down at Adrien, which looked up at the kwami with a smirk.
“Yesterday you just said, she was the most precious thing in the entire world” Adrien mentioned making Plagg wide his eyes in shock and cover Adrien’s mouth.
“You’re have mistaken something” Plagg said holding his paws in front of the cat miraculous holder his mouth. “You said that after you have put her to bed”
“Plagg you don’t need to feel embarrassed about it” Adrien mumbled at his kwami. “That is a good thing”
“No, it’s not. It ruins my reputation”
“You don’t have a reputation”
“And you don’t have any proofs, that I said Hope is the most precious thing in the world.” Plagg threw at his owner.
“Except now,” Adrien said making Plagg open his mouth as he had admitted it halfway.
“I hate you,” Plagg said frowning his face, then Adrien grabbed the kwami with his hand and showed him to Hope and Kagami.
“Come on Plagg, what you did yesterday was cute” Adrien pleaded making Plagg roll his eyes and fly at Hope’s landing with his belly on the shoulder, leaning his head on her neck caressing her like a real kitten purring softly.
“Aww that’s really sweet” Kagami admitted watching Plagg caressing the girl, then Tikki landed on Kagami’s shoulder.
“You don’t see Plagg often like that” The red kwami said earning a nod from her owner. Plagg got down of the girl levitating in front of his own owner.
“For this, you owe me a whole wheel of Camembert” Plagg ordered glaring at his owner, which nodded at the cat kwami.
“Go up into my room. There’s enough Camembert for you for the rest of the month” Adrien told the kwami, which flew away leaving the others back. “He will get over it, as always,” The blonde said to the girlfriend, then watched Adrien take Hope in his arms laying her down on them.
“What shall the three of us play?” Questioned Adrien tickling the baby on her baby causing her to giggle. “Any idea?”
“Building anything with blocks? Hide and seek?” The Japanese girl suggested the boyfriend.
“Hide and seek would be good. We’re three, that will be lots of fun. Mostly for Hope”
“Great and shall we keep hiding only in the living room and the hall?” Suggested Kagami. “I don’t think she’s ready to look up for us upstairs”
“Good idea” Adrien agreed. “I count,” Adrien told placing Hope on the floor, afterward he closed his eyes starting to count.
“Come, Hope, le’ts hide from Adrien” Kagami spoke to the baby girl, making her smile and Kagami took her in the arms, then walked quickly with the girl in her arms out of the living room leaving Adrien back.
Meanwhile, in the art classroom at the Françoise Dupont high school, a few students were working on their projects, including Nathaniel who was coloring a self-drawn image of Cat Noir fighting with Oni-chan.
“It’s been a while since you two worked on something here Rose and Nathaniel,” The art teacher said watching Nathaniel color Cat Noir’s staff.
“I have been very, very busy lately” Nathaniel responded although the correct reason were the times he had to fight an akuma or move out to help someone in danger.
“The last year of school is really busy boy, but it passes fast very quickly”
“Yeah” Agreed Rose. “Now we’re in November, this means next month is Christmas!” Rose announced excitedly. “And I gotta get Juleka a gift….and Lila….Kagami, Luka, everyone!” Rose squealed dropping her notepad on the head of her girlfriend, which then rolled her eyes up at an apologetic Rose.
“And I need to start soon to look for a Christmas present for Lila” “I didn’t know you celebrated Christmas Nathaniel”
“And I don’t” Responded Nathaniel. “Lila does,” Nathaniel said putting his pencil aside.”I want to give her something special, something cool. But I don’t know what”
“Do a comic story for her” Rose suggested her friend.
“I already did that for her birthday this year, I need to do something else”
“What about a portray of her?” Suggested the teacher.
“Nah I would have to ask her to pose for me and then she would know it why” Nathaniel responded, then took the black color pencil again to continue to paint Cat Noir’s body. “I still have time to think of it”
“You will find something, don’t worry Nath,” Rose said, then she looked at the entrance of the room a boy with a red hoodie hiding behind the arc of the door, then he shrieked as he was caught and disappeared behind. “There you are, Marc!” Shouted Rose. “Come in!”
“Uh no I’m fine out here” Marc responded, then Alix Kubdel, who was sitting in the room coloring a stool with graffiti saw the boy out there standing, then she got up and made her way to the guy and pulled him on his arm, dragging him all the way into the classroom. “No Alix, don’t push me here!” Demanded Marc anxiously, earning strange looks from Nathaniel and the others.
“There you go,” Alix said sitting back on her spot to continue her job.
“We haven’t seen each other since the prom night” Nathaniel mentioned as he saw his old friend.
“We….uh….we already saw us before….just a few days…..Cat Noir had saved you, remember?”
“Yes I do remember, but the other times I mean,” Nathaniel explained the boy. “I haven’t seen you often here. Also, I wasn’t often here, cause I was busy and all”
“I didn’t feel like coming, just that” Marc replied quickly making Nathaniel raise his eyebrow up.
“Is it because of what happened last time at the prom with you and Kim?” The redhead questioned making Marc shake his head.
“No, he apologized me” Responded Marc. “He felt bad about how he had reacted and thought I would think I was like a bad kisser or something and just wanted me to know…..I shouldn’t think that just see it as an accident”
“Most of all in my class are nice. He just had reacted that way, because it happened outta nowhere and...he thought it was Chloé”
“And because I decided to let my friend Matt follow him with the kiss cam drone and….Chloé just didn’t want to get kissed by him and pushed the first person in her way…..which ended up being you in this case”
“Yes weird, wasn’t it?” Marc asked earning a nod from Nathaniel, which kept coloring his Cat Noir. “Wow is that your new comic?” Questioned Marc looking astonished at the picture.
“One of the pages” Nathaniel responded.
“Cool” Marc added watching Nathaniel continuing his job, then Marc kept thinking on how to continue the conversation with the boy. “Hey Nathaniel, how have the last months been for you?” Questioned the raven-haired boy. “I’ve been sometimes here and you weren’t present only a few times and you always left earlier”
“I’ve been a little too busy” Responded Nathaniel. “I had important stuff to do”
“Like what kind of stuff?” Questioned Marc making Nathaniel gulp at his survey.
“Surprise parties!” Responded Nathaniel. “Surprise parties for….Luka’s birthday, Juleka’s birthday….uhm...” Nathaniel said looking back at the girlfriends, which looked at each other confused, then Rose got it and helped Nathaniel out.
“We wanted the two to have the best parties of their lives and we called everyone’s help from our class to make it possible, remember Juleka?”
“Uh no” Responded Juleka not understanding exactly, what was going on.
“She doesn’t cause we were doing this party for her” Nathaniel added. “That’s why she or Luka don’t know it”
“Did you have so much time for planning?” Questioned Marc curious.
“There were times I spent time with Luka or sometimes Ivan” Explained Nathaniel. “Sometimes I went to the cinema out with Adrien. Otherwise, I was out with Lila” Nathaniel explained the red-dressed boy.
“Lila who?” Asked Marc raising his left eyebrow at the name. “Who is Lila?”
“Lila Rossi” Responded Nathaniel. “She’s…..”
“The girl who sat beside you during classes?”
“Yeah exactly” Responded Nathaniel with a smile.
“But why are you hanging out with her?” Questioned Marc. “Wasn’t she lying to everyone in the first place as she got here?”
“She just wanted to make some friends by doing the wrong thing. She didn’t mean to hurt anyone”
"But she didn't need to do that" Marc pointed out at the redhead.
"I was, but you wouldn't understand her position. She was in a new school in another country,..it's...."
"But that was mean of her”
“Stop that Marc. You don’t know her the way I do, if you did you would understand it”
“Who else would start to lie in the first place as soon as she arrived here?”
“Marc could you please stop antagonizing my girlfriend in someway. She’s not, who you think you are and if you don’t believe it, I can introduce you to her and you can ask her all that, so she can confirm it”
“I don’t need….girlfriend?” Asked Marc surprised. “I didn’t know you had a girlfriend?”
“We’ve been together for uhm….nearly a year I think” Responded Nathaniel. “I don’t remember the date, besides it was in the evening at the funfair at the champs de mars”
“Why didn’t you tell me before you had a …...girlfriend?”
“I thought you knew it like everyone else. Also, why does it matter?” Nathaniel asked the boy looking bewildered at him.
The other students looked at the scene between Nathaniel and Marc, then realized, what was going on with Marc.
“Are you jealous of Lila?” Questioned the Jewish boy glancing confused at the friend.
“No, I’m not!” Marc hissed annoyed. “Why should I be? Just because she’s your girlfriend? That’s ridiculous” Marc stammered a little, making it obvious to the others, that Marc has a soft spot for the redhead.
“Hey Marc, look I know you worried about her, but trust me. I’m one of Nathaniel’s closest friend’s and I assure you, she’s not who you think she is. If you don’t believe me ask Juleka’s brother Luka or Kagami Tsurugi”
“I don’t know any of the two” Marc responded a little sassy.
“Would you rather ask this Lila personally?” Questioned the pink-haired girl. “You don’t need to worry about Nathaniel, he’s fine”
“We can ask Kagami right now, hasn’t she got fencing?” Questioned the blonde-haired girl.
“No, I think not” Responded Juleka. “They only have on Tuesday and Thursday I think”
“Oh” Rose replied neutrally, as she was wrong.
“Marc look, I’ve got Lila’s phone number. If you want I can call her and we confirm all this?” Alix suggested.
“No we don’t need to do this, it’s his problem if he doesn’t believe me” Nathaniel said crossing his arms while the raven-haired copied him.
At the entrance appeared the Italian student Lila Rossi looking at around for someone, then she saw Nathaniel and Marc angry at each other.
“Uh did I miss something?” Asked Lila entering the classroom looking at the two boys.
“Long story” Responded Juleka low, then Marc glared at Lila, which lifted her eyebrow up in confusion.
“So you’re Lila?” Asked Marc serious.
“Yeah” Responded the brunette. “Why?”
“He’s jealous of you because…..I don’t even know why” Nathaniel explained.
“I’m not jealous. I can’t stand people, that could hurt you”
“But she never hurt me, Marc” Nathaniel told the boy. “You’re mixing her up with Chloé. She’s the one, who always hurt my feelings in the past about the drawings and all that”
“And didn’t she hurt you?” Questioned the raven-haired boy. “Or didn’t she lie to you at the begin?”
“If she did I don’t know, but she did never hurt me. The fact she did otherwise. She defended me from Chloé’s attitude back on her first school day, I wasn’t fully 100% able to help her out, when Chloé called her out for her lying, but she wouldn’t now do that, what she did in the past, when she knows she has people like me, Rose or Kagami” Nathaniel yelled at the boy, then Lila interrupted the two pushing them slowly away from each other.
“Hey boys, please stop it” Lila ordered and looked at her boyfriend.
“Why were you talking about me?” Asked Lila making Nathaniel look down at the floor sad.
“I’m sorry, I just wanted him to understand you’re cool,” Nathaniel said making the girl smile a little.
“You don’t need to do that”
“Did you see, what she’s doing?” Asked Marc. “She’s making you think, this is all your fault!” Marc shouted at the redhead, shrieking him along with Lila.
“No, she’s not” Nathaniel replied. “No, I’m not” Lila responded at the same time as Nathaniel had answered.
“Marc, why don’t you tell Nathaniel for once. There’s no need to make a big drama out of it” Alix said.
“What do you want me to tell him….there’s a lot”
“We all know, you have feelings for him, why don’t you just say it?” Questioned Alix. “It’s much better, than causing all this nonsense”
“You have a crush on me?” Asked Nathaniel feeling a little odd. “I always thought you were still a social awkward like I used to be”
“I’ve been in love with you ever since the first day I saw you at the school. I’ve been way longer here and then this…...giraffe legs had to show up and steal you away from me” Marc hissed mad at the redhead.
“It’s not my fault. I didn’t know you liked me that much.” Nathaniel said appalled at the situation. “I….I don’t know”
“Nathy, calm down” Lila pleaded her boyfriend to stop, then looked at the annoyed raven-haired boy. “Marc, listen I’m so sorry about it. But you can trust me, I’m not using Nathaniel, I really love him with all my heart” Lila told the green-eyed boy, which covered his eyes.
“Shut up, shut up, shut up!” Shouted Marc covering his own ears running out of the classroom, making Lila facepalm.
“Fuck I didn’t mean to make him run out like that” Lila said looking back at Nathaniel, which looked at her surprised at the boy leaving the classroom. “I’ll be back, I’ll need to speak to him,” Lila said leaving the classroom with the others back.
“Lila wait!” Nathaniel cried watching his girlfriend ran out of the classroom.
“I think I’m going to accompany Lila,” Rose said running out of the classroom following the Italian girl. “Lila wait!” Rose called running behind her friend, who looked back at the blonde.
“Quick Rose, we have to find Marc. He will get for sure get akumatized, because of me” Lila warned Rose running the stairs down, then they passed beside the stairs and Lila stopped nothing someone under the stairs looking against the wall.
“Marc, please can I talk with you?” Lila asked watching the boy hold a hand paper towel to sneeze his nose. “Marc I didn’t mean to hurt you, before, I just…..”
“It would be an honor, Monarch,” Marc said making Lila back of as she heard that and observed Marc get akumatized and turn into a red and blue-colored supervillain.
“Oh my god, Marc turned into Reverser again!” Rose shouted coming back from the other side of the court as she saw Lila had found Marc.
“I’m not Reverser nor Marc. I’m Naughty Boy!” Shouted the different colored version of Reverser. “And you’re all going to pay!”
“Marc, Let me explain to you. I didn’t mean to steal Nathaniel away from you. I didn’t even know you had a thing for him”
“Stop lying!” Ordered Naughty Boy. “You’re going to pay for that,” The akuma said snipping with his fingers, making an orange paper plane appear between his index and thumb, then he threw it against Lila before it hits her, Rose pushed Lila away at the ground causing Lila to hit her head on the stairs.
“Ouch” Lila exclaimed holding her hand over the part she had hit on the stairs, then looked back at Rose, which had sacrificed herself for the friend. “Rose are you alright?”
“I hate you all. I hate you, Lila. I hate Nathaniel! I hate everyone!” Rose shouted, then Lila rolled her eyes at Naughty Boy, which smirked evilly at the girl and Lila ran away towards the restrooms, while being pursued by the villain.
“Help!” Shouted Lila approaching the restrooms, while Naughty Boy approached her, making her swallow hard from his speed, but then mysteriously from above appeared basketballs falling on top of Naughty Boy’s head, making him fall down off his paper plane-vehicle.
Lila looked in relief as she saw the supervillain on the ground, then looked up at the second floor to see Super Nathan standing on the railing with his tablet. Lila smiled and blew an air kiss at the superhero and entered into the restrooms, while Super Nathan jumped down a the court, running towards the villain.
“Hey Reverser, forget the girl” Ordered Super Nathan. “You and the others need to talk about it, in peace and with no accusations” Super Nathan explained the villain, which got up from the floor.
“The name’s Naughty Boy” Corrected the akuma jumping at his vehicle again. “And she’s going to pay for her having stolen Nathaniel away from me”
“Shit he really was in love with me” Super Nathan thought, then shook his head to focus on the missions. “Hey you can’t do anything about them now. They’re together now and you have to accept that. Trust me, it hurts less, than when you keep fighting for it, when it’s impossible to win”
“Don’t worry, when I revert the two, that will be possible” Naughty Boy said snipping with his fingers to get another paper plane back aiming Super Nathan with it. “First I’ll start with you and your foxy girlfriend”
“Hey, hey, hey you know you’re talking about my girlfriend, boy” Super Nathan warned the villain, making him roll his eyes and threw the paper plane towards him, then Super Nathan jumped up in the air to dodge it and was caught in mid-air by Miss Vixen, which dropped him up at the second floor.
“I’m here,” Miss Vixen said landing beside the boyfriend. “Sorry I couldn’t make it, he had just gotten akumatized as I and Rose found him”
“It’s okay, we will bring him back,” Super Nathan said, then look bewildered as Naughty Boy left the school building instead of going to look for him.
“Where is he going?” Asked Super Nathan looking at the vixen-themed heroine, which shrugged her shoulders.
“I might have an idea” Miss Vixen said running the second floor back to the art classroom and as she got there she saw Naughty Boy disappear leaving the teacher to destroy along with Alix and Juleka the artworks placed inside the room.
“Okay, now he’s going out in Paris do the same shit he did to our friends” Super Nathan said face palming. “Why am I such an idiot. If I had just ignored Marc’s question or stopped to protect you, this all wouldn’t have happened” Super Nathan said leaning his back on the wall.
“It’s not your fault Nathy. You just wanted him to understand the way you see me. Right?” Questioned the heroine earning a nod from the purple-skinned boy. “Don’t worry, we will get him and we explain it to him, cautiously”
“Sure, deal” Super Nathan said nudging his nose on hers, afterward she gave him a kiss on his lips. Super Nathan placed his arms behind hers to deepen their kiss even more, then Miss Vixen pushed him away slowly, making him look surprised at her rejection.
“Hey we have to catch him” Miss Vixen said adjusting her hair back. “After this, we can continue, hein?” Miss Vixen suggested with a wink.
“That’s right” Super Nathan agreed a little bashful at the situation, then he restored from his tablet his jet pack and took off in the air, followed by Miss Vixen.

Professional Statistics Assignment Help for Big Data Projects

CHAFFIN LUHANA ANTI-DISTRACTED DRIVING SCHOLARSHIP
In my economics class, Ms. Claassen was teaching us about incentives and how the incentives drive people to function in the free market society. To teach us more about this topic, she gave us an assignment of finding solutions to a problem by looking at the context of the situation and the incentives of the people by integrating multiple data on Tableau. As my teacher assigned us the homework, my friend Liana came into the class late, horrified as if she almost died. That was exactly what happened; she had a terrifying experience when a fellow student almost hit her with a car as she was crossing the road. The driver of the car had been texting, nearly causing a fatal injury for both of them.
Hearing my friend’s story, I wanted to make sure the rest of my loved ones are safe, so I dedicated my assignment on car accidents. I initially intended to research around the Arlington area, but an insufficient amount of data around this area led me to research the second most traveled place for my family: the American University. My mother goes to American University for her MBA and with the high traffic around the D.C. area, I came to focus on car accidents that injured pedestrians at different severity levels. The good news was that the area around the American University campus was relatively safe compared to the larger metropolitan area, especially around the mid-city, according to Open Data DC (“Crashes in DC”). The bad news was that the numbers were expected to become worse from there (“Crashes in DC”). Through growing traffics, more roads, and increased distracted driving such as texting and other multitasking actions, which are the leading cause for the death of adolescents in the US, the number has been steadily rising all over Washington D.C. When I looked for solutions, the previous ones including signs that say “Don’t Text and Drive” and other warnings around their surroundings, according to Time magazine, have not been effective because people did not fully grasp how dangerous it can be (Casner, 2017). People also ignore to turn on the “Driver mode” on their phone that would tune out notifications because these were only optional features. I concluded that people were not incentivized enough to put down their phones.
What could we do to solve this issue that causes 1.6 million car accidents in the US, then (“Don't Text & Drive”)? I talked with Liana and consulted my teacher. With more research, it turns out that simple financial incentivization could help solve this issue.
Auto-insurance companies could develop phone applications that track the user’s phone usage while driving. Then, by either having “Drive mode” on or by ignoring notifications on the phone, the driver can earn discounts from their auto insurance companies. This would be a win-win situation for the drivers and the insurance company since the driver would be safe and the insurance company would not have to spend money on accidents that could be prevented. Additionally, the data collected from the driver’s phone could be utilized with permission for research and development purposes that can improve the performance of the car and drivers later.
By targeting people’s incentives that could benefit all parties, we could make a safer future where distracted driving would become the issue of the past. I am very much grateful that my friends and family are safe and I believe we can make it a reality for every single 1.6 million people out there.
