Matrix Reimagined: Crafting Digital Rain with Bash and ChatGPT
Just for fun, and I have no idea why I thought about it, I decided to work with ChatGPT (4) to build a simple bash-based version of the Matrix Digital Rain. I know there’s already better versions, like cmatrix, but we do not do things because they are easy. We do them because we are bored. I’ve asked ChatGPT to heavily comment the code for us so that we can see exactly what’s going…

absolutely sick and twisted to see a community get recommended to me for queer people to "express themselves" with ai. politicians all across the globe coordinate plots to eradicate our communities and yall want to outsource your own creative thinking to luxury software products? what the hell is wrong with you?

I should say it more often, but no joke, I think people who looking into doing narrative writing or narrative design and game design should become invested in one major sport, or at least loosely follow one, because the interaction of the game mechanics against how audiences and commentary interacts with them to find and create patterns and then stories out of numbers is fascinating. The endless way we reframe gameplay statistics to create what is literally called The Narrative of a team history or a player career or the gameplay season is good to be familiar with. I always recommend baseball in particular, not just because I love baseball but because baseball has really simple basic rules but the major leagues have some really interesting hijinks.

You can't tell me IT guys are just sorcerers.
A "programmer" is a warlock able to command artificial beasts using a language most common ears and eyes can't comprehend. Some of these warlocks can even collaborate to create an artificial creature that can simulate intelligence appearing to surpass their creators and the "intelligence" to process new information that wasn't given to it. Some of these even communicate to humans using many of their common tongues in a spell apparatus known as an LLM.
An "engineer" (within the context of the human job classification of "Information Technology", specifically within the context of "hardware") is a type of blacksmith who creates and designs these artificial creatures. Although they have no mind, the "engineer" builds a body for them—a vessel of sorts. Depending on their expertise (and collaboration with "programmer" warlocks), some of them enable specializations in certain tasks, such as opening portals to other worlds via "video games", simulating heavenly bodies, solving complex mathematical equations, predicting the weather with good precision, and other uses for the human race.
A "web developer" is a variant of the "developer" warlock, specializing in creating spaces in the "World Wide Web", a network of "websites" (the spaces these warlocks make) in the Interconnected Network, or "Internet"
Note that taking up any of these roles requires a good understanding of the "electricity" and "electromagnetism" magic systems, medium-to-advanced knowledge of one or more non-common-tongue languages, and/or the ability to cast spells using said non-common languages, depending on the job specifications.
And to my fellow writers—if you really think about it, this world is downright magical. It just lost its magic for us.
"There are cathedrals everywhere for those with the eyes to see."
P.S: I'm not too into IT, so apologies if anything is misinformed and wrong

The funny thing about Tech's "death" is that it's so flimsy you can actually bring him back in fic while staying completely canon compliant. We cut off directly after the Hemlock situation - you can bring him back in any way you want here.
What about the time skip? Well what the hell did it actually show us?
Omega didn't tell Hunter to keep an eye on Tech along with the other two. (She didn't mention Echo either.) You can excuse this a dozen ways. Tech keeps an eye on himself. He's with Phee much of the time and so not under Hunters Direct Responsibility. He didn't need to have an eye kept on him because he agreed with her decision to join the rebellion and the other two didn't. He's already actually WITH the rebellion.
You can come up with just as many reasons for her to still have his goggles - they're a good luck charm since it turned out he survived, they're a remembrance of how much was sacrificed because even without him being dead he was gone for a long while, they're just sentimental now because of the love they represent, Omega didn't feel right getting rid of them.
This isn't a "Oh canon is totally implying-" I know what canon is saying. But Star Wars itself has retconned much bigger things than this. You can absolutely consider your fic canon compliant and have a surviving Tech returning to his family. It at most contradicts authorial intent, not what's actually onscreen.
