another thing i want the kids following me to know is: you guys have spent most of, if not Literally All Of, your adolescence in a COVID world. This Is Not Normal.

like fuck me. all the articles about it are thinkpieces about how hard it is to be a teacher right now because kids are SO all-over-the-place developmentally.... which i'm sure is true!

but most of what i've heard from other adults ABOUT you guys is just an annoyed, "these kids don't know how to behave these days, their parents just left them on the computer and never parented them, they don't know how to talk to people, so annoying"

which is like. come on, stacy. a little compassion?? can we Please get one fucking iota of compassion?? on this bitch of an earth??

you guys are dealing with all the typical traumas of adolescence (lack of autonomy, being legally property) after having dealt with ANOTHER Fucking Enormous Trauma during your developmental years (isolation), while trapped in classrooms with a million other kids all going through the same thing, and all of you are coping and adapting to this differently, AND a lot of you are ALSO dealing with the grief of having lost family/friends to sickness.

that is a fucking WILD cocktail of circumstances in which you're trying to learn & fill out college applications. and i'm assuming most school districts do NOT have enough decent guidance counselors to handle it. even putting aside potential trauma stemming from mandated reporting stuff.

the Vast Majority of the adults you interact with were NOT in school during COVID. we have no fucking clue what it's been like for you all. the solutions that worked for us in high school simply won't always be applicable anymore.

it's a bad time to be a high school student. if everything feels wrong to you right now, it's because This Is Not Normal.

I have been following you for a while and every time you post something I have to clear like a solid 20mins out of my day just to look at how gorgeous your art work is. I bought and read 'MtMtM' and it was honestly the most incredible thing I've read recently. You are personally such an inspiration to me both in art and writing. ❤️‍🔥🫡

thank youuuu. i may be stepping back from art for a while, though. i hate to admit it but this flagging nonsense has taken the wind out of my sails. i'll bounce back, i'll get smarter and more innovative and even sexier with my art. i think i just need some time. and i was already planning to switch my focus back to writing soon so it's not too big of a deal. i just hate that it's happening because of this situation. but thank you everyone who has been so supportive, the feedback on MtMtM has been especially heartwarming. and i hope to come back stronger. like a cockroach <3 a cock roach, even.

So as gauche as it's gonna be, I'm gonna be back to posting & boosting preorders despite everything :[ Like especially because I have all these amazing guest artists who put their hard work into designing for this set & have entrusted me with their artwork.. I don't want to let them down by having the collection fall flat. I wish I'd chosen different timing for these preorders but unfortunately there wasn't realistically any other time that would work since we'll be moving early next year. What's up folks? This is Ari. I just felt like sharing something that may be interesting. In regards to the V for Victory trope used in Spy vs. Spy, it started to get progressively used more often starting around the late 70s. In fact, it has been used in at least 90% of Kuper's strips once he took over as the illustrator and writer for the comics 28 years ago. Other than that, I had discovered that the very first time (or more accurately the first two) that trope was used was in two (I think) of the strips from The All New Secret Files of Spy vs. Spy (I could be wrong though), which was released back in 1965. It was later reprinted and rereleased as Danger! Intrigue! Stupidity! in 2009, in case some of you guys may not notice.

This was when Black Spy thought he defeated White Spy, (spoiler in progress) only for White to emerge from the missile (or bomb) and literally kick Black into the water.

Now this one here was where the V for Victory usage was legit for the first time in the franchise's run.

This was a fun fact (I guess) I wanted to share with y'all today. Peace.

Advice from your local aro-spec for when your friends that you love very dearly (but platonically and/or familially) start dating each other:

1. As with all things, communication is key. Let your friends know what is and isn't ok, and ask them the same of you. Then honor it.

2. Just because they're dating doesn't mean you're less important to them. Sometimes they'll have to prioritize each other over you, but by the same token, sometimes they'll have to prioritize you over their partner. Just like any other relationship. Your needs matter too, and they know that.

3. YOUR FRIENDS LOVE YOU BACK. Maybe not in the same way or conceptualization (especially if they're alloro), but they DO love you. They want you in their lives, they want you happy and healthy and safe.

4. In this house, aspec or allo, we practice the rejection of relationship hierarchy. This includes your own self concept and your own relationships. Thus I reiterate:

YOU MATTER. YOUR OPINIONS MATTER. YOUR LOVE MATTERS. YOUR NEEDS MATTER.

If they are worthy of the love you bear (and I'm sure they are,) your friends will not abandon you just because they're dating. It can certainly feel like it, and changing dynamics are always hard for anyone.

But it matters. You matter. Your relationships with each of those friends matter. And as long as you talk about it. Let them know what you're feeling and listen to each other... You'll be fine. Because you love each other. And that's what love is, no matter the flavor.

Hey folks. You’ve probably noticed I’ve been a little quiet here. Nothing huge, just having a lot of trouble creatively. The past couple weeks have been tricky, sort of unable to truly rest myself because I’ve had this on the mind.

Cross-posting a little life update post from my twitter so feel free to skip over but,

Full honesty - things have been more than I've been able to manage properly atm and I've been super low energy doing most things. The TL;DR of it all is that I'd learnt a month ago my dad has cancer and he will be going in for surgery tomorrow so it's been really stressful for my family. The lead up to learning about the news and the surgery have likely also been exacerbating my existing health problems (which I haven't really found a fix for yet despite seeing the doctor for scans and bloodwork etc.) among other things happening.

All that is to say thank you sincerely to anyone waiting on any art or responses I owe for being so patient and sorry if I've been off or slow with replies and such. I know no one here really follows me for my personal art or anything so nothing's expected of me, but sorry anyway for the lack of art in general.

I can give everyone a real update today because tracking FINALLY has a delivery date for the bulk of the May Preorder order:

And so with that, here's the preorder tracker update in the shop:

We've already shipped out orders that only contained petticoat preorders, and we'll be shipping another set of about 25 preorders on Friday for items that arrived a little earlier than the big main set that's on the way. All remaining preorders will ship once we get the big batch processed! We've gotten pretty effecient about the whole process so we should be able to get through it fairly quickly, but at the same time there's been SO MUCH going on behind the scenes & in our not-work life lately that I don't want to make a promise of being able to get everything out by the end of the month as originally estimated/planned. There is a good chance that fulfillment will need to extend into the first week of August. What I can promise tho, is that we will get all May Preorders shipped out before our break ends and we reopen the shop (on 8/8). Thanks so much for your patience and understanding!!
