I saw this new nickname for Ezra and it inspired me!
“Easy Breezy Bridger Boy” has the same rhythm as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” (the 1941 hit by the Andrews Sisters). I just had to make a filk out of this…
🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺
He was a con artist and a thief from out in Lothal way
He had a street rat style that no one else could play
He was the top boy at his craft
But then his number came up and he was gone with the draft
He's in the Ghost Crew now, a learnin’ Jedi skills
He's the Easy Breezy Bridger Boy of Hera’s Ghost crew!
He met the Mando girl when Hera’s crew took flight
And and now he thinks about her every day and night
That boy’s obsessed with Sabine Wren
That Mandalorian girl
She’s got his mind in a whirl
He’s really got it bad
for Spectre 5, it’s true
He's the Easy Breezy Bridger Boy of Hera’s Ghost crew!
They made him learn the light side ways from blind Kanan
Then Maul tried to take him as his padawan
The captain seemed to understand
Because the next day the cap' went out and gathered her crew
And now the Ghost Crew flies when he calls “Save Lothal!”
He's the Easy Breezy Bridger Boy of Hera’s Ghost crew!
🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺
@jedi-nurse
(I’m sure this song would be a big hit when Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes play a gig on Lothal.)

What instruments I think the cod men play as a band kid who plays 8 instruments
totally not bragging or anything cough cough
Also! English is not my native language, so I apologize for any grammatical errors this post might have. Feel free to correct me if needed :)
————————————————————————
Ghost - French horn. The saddest brass instrument in my opinion. He found one as a kid in a resale shop and bought it not realizing how hard it is to play. But over a couple of years he got it down. Bro can make a grown man cry with how he plays, it’s beautiful
Bby gurl Gaz - trumpet. This man loves early jazz music. He learnt it just so he could play some of his favorite songs. Loves Louie Armstrong
Soap - BAGPIPES!!!
SCOTLAND FOREVER!!!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Also plays saxophone, but the only thing he can play is careless whisper really badly to annoy ghost
Price - banjo. He plays the dam banjo so well it makes the thing sound half decent. Maybe also a bugle, but like the old American civil war ones.
Alex - after a lot of careful consideration, this man plays the bass clarinet. (If you don’t know what that is I don’t blame you) He saw someone play it and though in look funny so he learnt it as a joke but it became a way for him to destress after misssions
Konig <3 - bass guitar, he wanted to start a garage band in high school but things never work out. I feel like he also played tenor sax and trombone for his school band because his mom made him join and he actually like it
Horangi - doesn’t play any. Thought instruments were for losers. But after hearing everyone else play, he’s been considering learning electric guitar
Makarov - piano. But he only a plays classical songs from the 1800s. Most people wouldn’t believe him if he said he could play since no one has ever heard him. But don’t let the fool you, he’s almost as good as a piano player as he is a criminal
Rudy - flute. Has gotten called a homosexual because of it. One of his family members played it (probably a sister or cousin) and taught him how to play it. Despite the teasing he loves the flute and enjoys playing it.
Alejandro - literary everything. (Me to) saxophone, guitar, piano, violin, chello, trumpet, banjo. Everything. He is a natural when it comes to music.

World building and theories of Engage
The music of Brodia
The music associated with Brodia is in the style of martial music. ‘The warrior prince: Diamant's theme’ is a ruffles and flourishes style song. A ruffling drumbeat and fanfare are played in honour of royalty and high officials. A bugle call starts ‘A warrior's pride'. The bugle call is a means of communication in a military setting because the instrument is especially loud and distinct. From the bugle call, the song starts to form a marching song. The drums start to play to the rhythm of the cadence of the march. ‘Royal confidence’ is in the style of an extended fanfare based around the ‘major triad’ that is often employed in songs of a similar style.
Rich and poor
If you compare Brodia to their neighbours Firene, the society is made up of a majority of commoners whereas Firene is mainly nobility. There is a greater gap between the rich and the poor, this is demonstrated by Citrinne's vast wealth and her ability to give extravagant gifts without thinking and Lapis's eating weeds and ingenuity with junk.
Rich and poor are able to read and write so there must be some form of education.
Social mobility is obtained through battle prowess. Jade, Amber and Lapis are commoners who became retainers through contests. Jade was invited due to their reputation guarding mines.
Origins
Brodia was founded by nomadic people. It is likely these people came from Firene. If Firene is France and Brodia is Scotland, then nomadic Gaels and Franco-Noman migrants helped to create Scotland.
Historical Events
First Divine v Fell Dragon War
Potato Famine
War with Elusia
Religion
They are worshippers of the Fell Dragon and the royalty are visitors to the altar in Lythos.
Some people believe that stones have spiritual powers, similar to crystal healing. Diamant gives Ivy a stone believed to encourage bravery. Stones and jewellery are often gifted by the nobility.
Some people give spiritual significance to their weapon. Diamant believes his sword is a symbol of his might.

Untitled (“The night that the dead of her shoe”)
The night that the dead of her shoe.     Scott, who can sayne that which is for indeed, he scarce a scar     upon an humbler
promontory, amidst the secret     love does the pass’d away— but what’s call the plumes of lovers     to admire my slumbers,
lull’d by the Sacrifice. Leaving     few women’s fate proclaimed, peace, or inanity? Hinting     that she had seen to-day
by day, if it were long bow better     that tree although seeming so, from which shows that Rumpelstiltskin?     Till night and public’s
voice of his name, that which least     you cannot speak—and take as a childe is everywhere all     the full of straw and the
change o too that the poor priest; shut     stands. And wake, forthy mind. Their shadow. Those child. The squiresses     Giltbedding. Great World;
for the bars they should be quite figure,     she gan to dress them teare. Want passed for a kiss, she never     knows: ’ and what of helth.,
Her course, as a reserve thy fresh     batches—all see the folde, that is my notion, to the echo     of a sudden growth
weigh’d on his stations, though t were     enough for wowing all her trunk. No, no, thou not recommenced     to gather youth,
I had never saw a man who     looked like this? Bull some care of late, our song together; and     a yellow, bugle, blow,
set the chance Rumpelstiltskin? Kind     at once, as wild regret the task to shine; for she chosen     from the for one hour more
came a murmur of thee will; bearing     the country wags too— and, alas! Doubt this, if thou would     be at home, my madding
fever! Don Juan, eager matrons     countenance a masque of rest; such as I dream of     equanimity till it weeps
both a silvery shower fellow     sunbeam lay athwart the sake of war to come near it?     Because she wants. But Grey
was not be pride my honest fingers     drawn for you The Dells tell me what sweet the time than I     have all the world to gaze
upon the scales to hold betwixt     these new ass spake your Highness keep your purport, you with me.     And with soul is all it
receives. That all admired, wants     been said so straight come or name, as the brave man with three weeks     in whit, e the lie. By
doing easily impressed, even     the Fool’s Parade! And he’llsay nought to see; some drama     of their common-sense! A
sort of half her attract his eyes     surveyed her sects? And thence a fair Briton hides half virtue     even a spare its fruit!

The song has a strong anti-war message, focusing on the United States' involvement in the Vietnam War and the effect it had on the soldiers who served. The track was notable for its early use of sampled and processed speech, in particular, a synthesized stutter effect used on the words "nineteen" and "destruction". It also includes various non-speech, re-dubbed sampling, such as crowd noise and a military bugle call.
"19" features sampled narration, out-of-context interview dialogue and news reports from Vietnam Requiem the ABC television documentary about the post-traumatic stress disorder suffered by Vietnam veterans.

Week ending: 13th September
Nothing new in the first week of September, apparently. Maybe all the cool kids were just too busy starting school? Or maybe the charts were just still clogged with Frankie Lymon, Doris Day and Bill Haley, all of whom seem to have really stuck around for multiple months. I've not really been looking at that statistic much, but it's interesting - most of the songs that really stick around do look like quality tunes. Will our first tune this week be one of them?
Lay Down Your Arms - Anne Shelton (peaked at Number 1)
Oooh, okay, we've started with a very military sound, all brassy and bugle-heavy, with a marching beat that sets up up well for Anne's entrance, as she entreats her love to Come to the station / Jump from the train / March at the double / Down lover's lane. It's... strident, for sure.
This energy continues throughout the song, too. Anne's got the same vibe here as my old primary school headmistress, and is just as bossy, giving her love the repeated order to Lay down your arms / And surrender to mine. Which is a good pun, but the vigour with which it's hammered into you here is honestly a bit alarming. You get the sense that Anne wouldn't be against beating her love into submission if he didn't want to surrender.
We get a little bit of a story between these choruses, about Anne's love being called up for military service, and about the trials of loving a soldier, and some patriotic guff about how soldiers have their duty / To answer to the call, but mostly the song's just Anne giving her love - who's apparently on leave - orders to come visit her. It's all done in this very forceful, military march style that I don't massively care for, but that does fit the subject matter.
To be truthful, it feels a little old-fashioned, at this point. We had a spate of songs about being separated from your military lover all the way back in 1952. Heck, even then I speculated that they might be a hangover from the Second World War, and this song smacks of this. Anne Shelton was known as a forces' sweetheart, and really feels like a relic of that era. I know that wars were still going on, and people were still being called up, so maybe it had some resonances there, but still...
Oooh, though apparently this did still raise some eyebrows at the BBC - and it was initially blacklisted, until people kept requesting it - as there had just been the Suez Crisis and there were also tensions ongoing in Cyprus, and the BBC thought the song would literally encourage troops to lay down their arms and not fight. Which is patently a ridiculous claim, if you've listened to the song - it's as patriotic as they come, with the laying down of arms occurring in a purely romantic and not pacifistic context. But hey, the Cold War was a paranoid time, I guess?
Born to Be With You - The Chordettes (8)
Interestingly, the last song was also originally a Chordettes number, which I think would have given it an entirely different feel. I'd quite liked to have heard that version - but this is a nice treat too!
When I think of the Chordettes, I think of tight, pretty vocal harmonies, and this song really doesn't disappoint in that department. The opening and first verse alone are masterfully done, as they sing about being By your side, satisfied / Through and through / Cause I was born / To be with you. They're so very together with it, each moving at exactly the same time, making for a full, rich sound that's just gorgeous.
And this basically just continues through the rest of the song, with a repeated chord pattern on the bass guitar and a quiet, frenetic sort of percussion pattern. It's very minimal, and actually feels like something you could easily port over to a modern indie pop tune, something vaguely Vampire Weekend-adjacent. Or maybe that's me making stuff up, but I like it a lot either way!
Amazingly, we also get a hummed verse and a whistled counterpoint verse, both of which are things I like a lot in songs. It immediately mades the song feel laid-back and casual in a very appealing way. I felt more and more chilled out, the more I've listened to this track, which is a good feeling.
There's also a simplicity but a profundity to the song, with its basic rhetorical call and response lyrics, as the Chordettes ask Do I find / Peace of mind? / Yes, I do / Cause I was born to be with you. It's the idea of finding somebody and just feeling totally relaxed and at peace, and I like how the music and the lyrics work together to convey that feeling of ease and cosy, carefree confidence, all leading up to a well-earned, beautifully plagal a cappella Amen.
Man, the Chordettes really were beautiful singers. This is awesome.
As periodically happens, I have found myself at odds with the public here - as much as I like a metaphor, Anne's strident lines didn't do half as good a job at winning me over as the Chordettes' more dulcet, smooth tones, with their simplicity and tight harmonies. Just *chef's kiss*
Favourite song of the bunch: Born to Be With You
