One of the things I loved about the easily disposable suitor Debling storyline was seeing how Pen couldn’t fight her instinct to seek out Colin. They are truly magnets and when Pen says they should keep their distance you can feel how unnatural it is for the both of them.

When Debling says that Pen has been searching all week, what do you think she was looking/hoping for? Did she want Colin to do something? Was she just contemplating what it meant to give him up? If she could give him up?

oh alfredo penguin. no one but a handful of people who really don't like colin or respect penelope's choices miss you. 🫶

i mean, she's looking for colin, right? always. i think she was coming to terms with the idea of giving him up, we know why he was watching and looking for her but i think pen was actually faced with letting go for real for the first time in 3x04. you can see it in the library scene (i can't believe colin watched her through a mirror what a freak i love him so much) where she and lord save a bird are talking and she looks over at colin and she's really realizing that accepting alfredo iceberg means letting that dream go.

we see it again in her hesitation when talking to her mom about accepting lord definitely died on his 3 year excursion's proposal when portia is like love? be fr fr rn, penelope.

and especially during the eros and psyche ballet. she's aware of what she's giving up but she seems to be very much in the mindset of colin is never going to feel the same so she needs to let it go. and i think it's definitely why she asks alfredo sauce (it's vegetarian, i checked so it's cool) if he could ever love her (he says no so why people want her with him i will never know) because i think she's in the mindset of well, colin doesn't love me and that's okay but i still want love in a marriage.

like she was never going to give him up if she had a shot, right? the only thing she ever questions when it comes to colin is his feelings, never her own.

(which, frankly, makes me want to start beef with the people hollering about colin saying something hurtful after penelope betrays his trust but they'll sing portia's praises after part 2 as if she's not the reason penelope felt ignored, neglected, and unwilling to believe someone when they say something kind to her, pffft)
