News - Animator Haruo Takashi, best known for working on classic anime like Himitsu no Akko-chan, Lupin the Third, and being a key animator on Sanrio's 1978 cult-classic The Ringing Bell has passed away. He was also an award winning manga artist for his 4-panel gag manga Iwayuru Hitotsu no Cho-san Shugi ("The So-Called Principal Cho-San"), which was serialized for 27 years. He was 76 years old. Rest in peace, Takashi-sensei.

There was a village beyond the mountain

Filled all to the brim with small little sheep,

who all praised a god,

A wolf with Woe, pain and grief.

A sacrifice was given

To sate this living demon

First a mother, then its child,

The wolf stole away the lamb

And ran into the cold winter wild.

His bell not stolen

But rather raised as a fiend

As if the demigod dreamed

To have something of his own.

The lamb’s horns were sharpened

It’s coat made matted

And now the size of a fatted ghoul.

The bell remained a useful tool.

But before the wolf made the sheep

Learn to kill with its newfound teeth.

In a sudden twist, in the cold snow,

The lamb killed his guardian with a bludgeoning blow.

Escaping the mountain,

Laughing as it came down

Only to be met with a hateful little town

A beast, they called him

Demon, they screamed.

So the lamb became what they saw,

And ate the little town with it’s bloody maw

In the dead winter cold,

The lamb’s bell is still heard ringing,

Looking for someone

To warm this poor fiend’s soul.

Danny’s on the Suicide Squad. He’s the defacto team moral compass and ray of sunshine. He plays the role of the camp counselor that keeps everyone in line. He’s not afraid of working with even the gnarliest of baddies.

Everybody on the team wonders how he ended up locked up with the villains- he never talks about what he did to end up behind bars no matter how much they pester him. Then one day they’re out on a mission and Harley or somebody is caught and tortured. Danny snaps. It’s the opposite of brutal- he takes down everyone in the room with clinical, dispassionate efficiency.

After it’s over and the team is safe he comes back to himself and is almost sheepish. He radios Belle Reve.

“Whoops. Add another couple notches on my power dampener collar, would you Waller?”

“Can’t, it’s already at max.”

“Ah. Well. I’ll have a look at strengthening it when we’re back then.”

The team just stared at him slack jawed. Good thing he’s on their side.
