Kesler and Juline where cannonly childhood lovers, I think Juline had a temper and a hard time controlling her ability, and that Kesler was her alchemy tutor and wears dorky glasses similar to Milo Thatch.
Do you have any Kesline headcannons thoughts anything at all
I’m working on a kesline teen fic and you have posted about them like three times in the last month which is more than most people do, yes there is a slight possibility of any of your head cannons ending up in the fic if they fit
Hi ya!
I have so so many headcanons
Elves show affection with loved ones (best friends, family, lovers, etc) by pressing foreheads together. The longer it lasts, the deeper the affections are.
Friends and family will do it for about the same duration as a normal hug
Lovers and friendships that are beyond love will obviously last longer.
Also I love childhood lover trope and that is canon now, Shannon is wrong. They were childhood lovers. Juline nearly failed her mid-term so badly due to her somewhat newly manifested Froster abilities being affected by her emotions making the beakers freeze over. It was a whole thing.
Kesler and Juline had known each other for years, like years!
Kesler fell first, Juline phased through the entire planet falling for him
Juline has had a fascination with human stuff for ages. Kesler just thinks it's funky but if Juline's blabbering about floppy disks he doesn't care what a 'computer' is, she's talking and he's listening.
Juline has constantly cold hands, Kesler holds them to keep her warm
Kesler likes baking, its like alchemy but you can add as many tart berries as you want, say less
Eda makes awesome pastries, Juline makes...interesting soups
will you survive? Will you need an elixir? Is it moving or is it just the smoke giving you hallucinations?
Jokes aside, Juline likes making soups that dont look appealing but taste amazing
its a prank and a good meal
They like to dance occasionally to some of their favorites (human music included) and will drag the kids into mini dance parties (this does mean Dex can dance, i eat canon for breakfast)
(once again ignoring canon) Kesler has slightly more rounded ears than most elves, Juline's are pretty pointed
they've cried over Gnomeo and Juliette (they're just like them fr)
Juline used to be shorter up until their third year of Foxfire, the girl shot up like a goblin i swear
Like how Dex shot up in Nightfal (i think) Juline was just tall
Random Juline and Kesler Firefox hc under cut, I was too proud of them to let them stay in the drafts shelf
Juline
peak annoying little sister
youngest of three
her and Eda are the only ones who kept in touch
their eldest sibling has always been distant so there was never really a connection between Juline and them
her and Eda shared a room up until their second level of Foxfire, they were just that attached to the hip
neither of her parents are Frosters, her mom is a Conjure like Eda but her dad is a Guster
Eda is older by just two years meaning she manifested first with Juline buzzing to manifest next, hoping to either be like Eda or a Guster, maybe even a Hydrokenic or maybe one of her great great grand somethings will do her a solid and-
she manifested as a Froster
she was not happy about it
kept freezing everything, left little frosty footprints everywhere, brought the room temperature down constantly no matter how wrapped up in cloaks and tunics she was
tying this into your headcanon of Kesler being her Alchemy tutor, Juline nearly flunked her alchemy midterm, scraping by the skin of her teeth
she had been docked major points for frosting some of her tools and even putting out the fire she needed multiple times due to nerves
Now onto Kesler
- as the youngest of his family, Kesler has at least three people telling him what to do at all times
- and none of them could agree
- he and his siblings were born more or less close in age (if you count close as 4-8 years)
- his youngest older sister was in Foxfire along with Kesler which means whenever Kesler had any trouble in class she was right there to both brag, and help (it was her job to be both unhelpful and very helpful, it's sibling law)
- Kesler got his love and knack for Alchemy from his grandfather who wasn't too shabby himself but Kesler was a natural
- he loves his siblings but hanging out with his grandfather doing random alchemy experiments was just their thing
- Kesler was terrible with Elementalism so much so his sister would occasionally take the long route to her classes to check on him in the Healing Room
- you could tell if Kesler Dizznee was within twenty feet of you if you could hear the tell tale sound of glass rattling in a bag
- he was in the same class year as Juline (I ignore canon) so when Juline Dizznee needed a tutor guess who was signed up as the sacrificial lamb

August 11th (13th) 2024 | Started reading The Lord of the Rings in English! I read it first in French something like... 15 years ago now ? 😅😂
Decided to keep track of some themes because putting tabs helps me stay focused on the reading somehow, let's see how my copy ends up looking!

sometimes i imagine young elrond (relatively young, you know for elves) grieving the loss of his brother, trying to respect his decision to die a mortal death, really respecting his decision, but still feeling sour about it from time to time when everything becomes too much, sorta thinking you left me alone, why did you leave me alone and celebrian, galadriel, everybody around him is saying something along the lines everything happens for a reason and sure, elros becoming the first great king of numenor should be enough reason and elrond understands that? but it still makes his heart ache, but he lives on, he keeps an eye on his brother's line, protects the middle earth where it counts, and that's how it goes for a couple hundred years
and then there comes a human woman with a little boy, and sure there were many before. he kept an eye on his brother's descendants before, but this one is so small and his little feet take him all around rivendell where he somehow always manages to find trouble, and his eyes are the shade achingly similar to his brothers, and sometimes he calls him ada because he learned it from his other kids
and one day he's reading little estel a story (maybe a legend of an old king who rose to greatness before he faded away) and he looks at the child snoring away on his chest, a child that wouldnt be here had elros made a different choice
and he thinks. oh. that was the reason.

SO Warner Bros just announced their new LotR movies, one of which is called The Hunt for Gollum.
There are two old, fairly well-known and high-quality Tolkien fan short films called The Hunt for Gollum and Born of Hope.
The Hunt for Gollum, which had accrued 13 million views on Youtube over its lifetime, released May 9 2009;
Born of Hope released shortly afterward on December 12 2009 and has accrued 50 million views on Youtube.
Tumblr media
WB just got it removed.
They fucking filed a copyright claim on the 15 year old fan film whose name and plot they reused for their own film. They did this within the past 24 hours, after some reporting pointed out the fan film and generated a bit more buzz for it.
Tumblr media
Born of Hope remains up, but given there is a second Warner Bros LotR movie with an unnanounced title, I'd bet money on it also being an Aragorn origin story and they'll strike Born of Hope next year.
Also, given the new WB film is apparently only now starting production and is supposed to release in 2026, it will have 1-1.5 years of production time, which is less production time than the 50 minute fan film.
The original LotR trilogy had nearly 3 years of production time, not including finishing the second two in the proceeding 3 years after filming them all together.

Annatar during chapter 39 of The Harrowing by Chthonion~
Tumblr media
And then doodles with some of my favourite bits from the afore mentioned chapter -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been meaning to do stuff from this chapter since it came out cause it is amazing- (in a 'wanting to suffocate Annatar with hugs and cups of tea, and the collateral sufferers too- like getting Maedhros back to Fingon for recuperation' kind of a way) - at revealing just how messed up Annatar's mindset is. I definitely recommend the Maedhros pov as well- the amount of '... I don't think I even want to unpack that statement' and 'seriously. We have gone over this. At least three times. In the last twenty minutes. Why do you not get it??' that goes through his head during that conversation is just- Amazin~
:D
This fic is really cool and I highly recommend it to anyone even vaguely into lotr or the Silmarillion.
:D

I really hope that the lotr fandom will soon move on from discussions about Rop's legitimacy as a Tolkien adaptation.
The current climate of people either fully dismissing the whole show or declaring it a full-on masterpiece needs to stop. I (for the most part) enjoy watching the show and therefore find myself more often than not on the side of the latter. But, I really wish we could have more productive discussions about the actual content of the show other than just how well it lines up with the lore, including calling out some major issues that I haven’t seen discussed at all.
In all the discussions about orc families, short vs. long-haired elves, ring mechanics, etc, It's definitely noticeable that nobody (neither fans nor antis) seem to have called out the super racist orientalist elements in the Rhun storyline.

the LOTR movies are just genuinely so fucking good. type of movie that we probably will never see get made again because sooooo much of it is just extremely detailed and intricate practical effects and real costuming like the armor!!! the sfx makeup!! the sheer number of people and horses!! and also it is focused on just doing a good job of adapting the source material rather than milking a franchise forever and ever which of it were made today would simply not be the case. movies of all time

did you ever notice how merry doesn't actually volunteer for the quest? pippin is the one who assumes he and merry will go, gandalf vouches for them both, but merry doesn't say a word for the entire encounter. it's a stark difference from his insistence on going with frodo in the conspiracy chapter, and i think it's because he's totally lost his confidence. in the beginning, he's very confident and fully believes he'll be able to lead the group through the old forest to bree with no trouble, and then they all almost die twice basically immediately. notice that when they get to bree, he refuses to go to the prancing pony with the others, deciding instead to stay in their room alone? and then of course he gets attacked by nazgul, which definitely doesn't help matters. i think by the time they get to Rivendell, he no longer believes himself capable of helping frodo. he'll do it, obviously, if frodo or gandalf or elrond or pippin ask him to, but i think he's at a point where he no longer believes he'll be any good.

people actually went on about how game of thrones made it socially acceptable to be a fantasy nerd, as though the lord of the rings movies hadn't been released less than a decade earlier and left far greater cultural ripples and i am just
got may have made the adults feel better about liking fantasy, but lotr got into the kids' heads when they (we) were just young and impressionable enough to be absolutely transported and emotionally rewritten by don't you leave him, samwise gamgee and my brother, my captain, my king and and rohan will answer
lotr was rewriting entire generations' brain chemistry long before asoiaf and so obviously it's not fair to compare any post-lotr fantasy novel to it, and each book series was trying to do different things within their own spheres and so that also is not a fair comparison, but in terms of the cultural impact of the adaptations that came out within a decade of each other, saying that it was game of thrones that made fantasy mainstream is baffling
game of thrones could only run because the lord of the rings movies laid the path, and i will die on this hill
#lotr#lord of the rings#lord of the rings movies#i started this post because ''may it be'' came up on my playlist but now i think i'm going to start my nth rewatch of the trilogy#there is a lot to discuss about it re: comparison to the books but it's like...#for all the changes they made - good and bad and neutral - everyone involved in making the films *loved* the source material#they all *wanted* to do justice to it and believed in it and it shows#i think of some posts i've seen about how frustrating this modern push towards tongue-in-cheek irony over sincerity#so afraid to be corny or cheesy that you have to tack a joke onto every real emotional moment#like no fuck that#give me sam hauling frodo onto his shoulders saying ''i can't carry it for you but i can carry you''#give me aragorn gently kissing boromir's forehead as he dies#give me merry and pippin throwing themselves at the uruk hai to distract them from frodo#give me theoden's grand speeches and gandalf's pained expression when frodo says he'll carry the ring#tbh i think that sincerity is a large part of *why* it has such staying power even now#because it is a story you are meant to get deeply emotionally invested in and not hold yourself a little ironically apart from#it isn't meant to sell merch it's meant to bring you to middle-earth and capture your heart and make you believe that the war can be won#with love and loyalty and hope and fellowship and fidelity and integrity and just... just refusing to give in to despair#it is earnest. it is unafraid to be melodramatic or corny because it believes in the story it's telling.#and so it imprinted onto a whole generation growing up right at the cusp of a barrage of apocalypses#anyway. i have Feelings about these movies and their impact and how that mirrors and enhances the books' own impact

“I have the lingering sense I’m doing something I oughtn’t be,” Thranduil said with some amusement when he managed to separate from Elrond to breathe again, which took several efforts at pulling out of Elrond’s chasing kisses. Elrond blinked stupidly at him, his mind admittedly not presently running on all four wheels.
“You think your council would disapprove?” he asked, beginning to gather an argument. Thranduil let out a brief, sudden burst of laughter and his lips twisted into a smile.
“I think Glorfindel would disapprove,” he said. “Surely there must be more pomp and ceremony involved before touching a son of Eärendil this way.” Understanding spread across Elrond’s face at the thrust of Thranduil’s jest—for he assumed it was, though perhaps not in whole—and his eyes narrowed fractionally.
“This son of Eärendil shall be most unhappy if you cease touching him for Glorfindel’s sake,” he replied at once, trying not to put real annoyance into his voice as he climbed pointedly onto Thranduil’s lap. “You may do whatever I say you may do,” he added more imperiously, cupping Thranduil’s face between his hands.
“Very well, my lord,” Thranduil demurred easily, that smile still tugging at his mouth. Elrond could not decide if he was pleased or not by that title, so he simply sealed his lips over Thranduil’s again, and moved the king’s hand where he wanted it best, and Thranduil generously obliged him.
