Meet Calliope~!

"Come, we must make haste... for the hour of Lullabies are upon us...!" (Short story below the cut!)

The fragrance of magnolia and smoky amber waft through the air as a seraph glides past you along a wooded narrow pathway. Sunlight dapples the well-trodden dirt. You feel as though you've been here before. The damp cool air of spring surrounds you as the guide silently swims through the trees. The world is silent, save for the small running creeks and rustling of the leaves, burning with the light of the sun.

You don't notice the guide is suddenly staring at you, a faint smile on her face. In you absentminded wandering, you have fallen behind. She beckons you once more, waving her clawed hand and flittering away into a small clearing. Upon entering, you take a look around at the sight before you. You assume it is a garden, long forgotten by its keepers. The flowers that were planted here are long dead.

It seems as though this place was forgotten by the world itself.

"Let us rest here...come, sit beside me."

As the seraph gracefully lays down, the once dead flowers begin to open up around her, one by one unfurling their petals in a mesmerizing show. Sun rays shine through their petals, turning the milky white flowers a soft gold. You make you way to the tranquil Imperial, the smell of blooming gardenias and jasmines filling you nose and lungs.

The sun sleepily drags itself down to it's bed behind the trees of the forest, glimmering one last time. You both watch as the sun finally rests in the horizon.

The air has grown colder, and you wrap you arms around yourself in an effort to keep warm. The air pierces your skin, your already tender skin burning with each gust of wind.

A soft blanket is placed upon you-or so you thought. The sylph has started to radiate a gentle heat from her body, and she lays her head down on the cool earth next to your lap. You don't hear her breathe. You can't hear her breathe. Not even a sigh of comfort and relief. 'Curious...' you think. She begins to hum a familiar tune, the song you heard in a hazy dream you once had but is nothing more than a memory. It's soothing, and you close your eyes, resting your weary back on the guide.

Her lullaby continues throughout your rest, the smell of gardenias and jasmine wafting the air.

I haven't talked about anyone's animalisms much lately. Just to keep anyone interested in the loop, the animalisms are a bunch of traits I give the animatronics based on the animal they are. Like Roxy has Dogisms and Wolfisms, Chica has Chickenisms, etc etc.

This of course, only applies to animal animatronics so Sunny and Moon don't have these. DJ and the Minis maybe have some spider traits, but I don't know a lot about spider behaviour at the moment so they uhhh maybe don't have a big range of Spiderisms. Might ask the local experts about them I dunno

But yeah some examples of animalisms would be the whole thing where Roxy goes ham for squeaker toys, and things like Chica having an ingrained sense of a pecking order, Freddy being more protective of very small children than older kids, Bonnie stamping his foot on the floor a lot, Monty being territorial, etc etc. There's a good number of things for most of them, and some impact their lives more than others, with many if these animal traits being in direct conflict with the programmed character traits. Each of them settles into these traits differently and that's what gives every version of them their individuality.

There's also the part where given that they're not actually animals, the animal traits are displayed in different ways. Like, they're not all one to one things, so there's also the question of how those behaviours translate over to them, which can be an interesting thought exercise.

It's a fun way to look at everyone I think! Adds some interesting layers to them and means you get less of the 'all animals act like dogs or cats' kind of blanket traits that often don't really fit. Makes the differences between them much more pronounced, ya know? It's an interesting source of conflict too! Very fun I think!

I like talking about them and adding to them if someone tells me something about these animals that I don't already know so if anyone wants to talk about them with me, feel free to! Especially if you have any fun facts for them I might not know. I love those!

I made a fan kid!

So this is Takahiko, my Arukenimon/Mummymon fan kid at about 7 years old. He's pretty sulky and doesn't smile much with people he doesn't know. This boy is much happier reading in a quiet room than dealing with new people. He's not a bad kid though; if he cares about someone, like his parents, he gets pretty attached to the point that it can be considered by some to be clingy. If he befriends someone he will help them out any way he can. His emotional empathy is also surprisingly high, so if someone he cares about is sad he'll do his best to cheer them up in his own way. Plus he has an extremely warm smile that can be disarming to people that aren't familiar with him! (I purposely didn't draw it so his default personality with strangers comes through more. Maybe another time!)

Takahiko's a really musical boy. He plays the recorder really well and, if necessary, can use it to obtain some level of control over insect digimon like his mother. He also can make spirit needles, from the darker hair surprisingly, but since there aren't any more control spires he has no idea what they're for. He occasionally just makes them, looks at them a bit, then leaves them on the table and heads away. (Honestly though even if the control spires were still around; this kid would only use them to make a dog to play with.) He also has the entirely unique ability to communicate with the Oikawa butterflies to some extent, to the point that he's aware that they used to be a single man. He calls him the nice butterfly man. Other than music, he loves the stars since his dad loves horoscopes so much and spends time looking at constellations. He is absolutely terrified of bats though and vampires of any kind, even cartoon ones, leave him in floods of tears. This is probably a subconscious response to the trauma his parents experienced in a certain dream world that got imprinted on his dna somehow.

His darker patch of hair is where Mummymon's data is more prevalent. That area of his face, his right arm and left leg are a similar shade of grey. He also has only the one eye but, unlike Mummymon, the other eye is kinda there just permanently closed. This doesn't bother him though. He can see just fine and he thinks his grey patches and weird eye are really cool! Plus he's so well wrapped up clothing wise, that it isn't really apparent. He is ambidextrous and can summon a sickle, which is connected to his digimon form, but he usually isn't in a position to need one. Also he loves his purple scarf. Seriously, don't try and take it away from him.

Takahiko is unusual in that he picked out his own human name. He couldn't actually turn into a human until he was around 4. Until then his parents just called him by his digimon name(s)/pet names etc; but then one morning they get up and the kid is just standing there in human form asking Mummymon what's for breakfast. (Yes he was originally an egg, but it's more complicated than that and I won't get into it here.) Anyway, once he realises, he decides his human form needs a name too because all his evolutions have specific names. So he looks through his books and picks one he really likes, and is pretty determined to use it. Arukenimon takes a look and sees that it can be written with the kanji for 'resolute prince' and decides 'Yes, that's a suitable name for my son' so she agrees to it. Mummymon gets no say in the matter but is too proud to care.

I know there are other well established fan kids for the pair; but I'm so happy to finally have one of my own that I just had to talk about him at least once! Seriously, I have had no idea what their kid would look like for years, to the point that I was semi-convinced that a child was impossible for them and to have this cute little guy just come flying at me makes me so happy! I'll leave it at that because I could write a lot more about him. (This is a *severely* cut back version of the full bio I wrote for him.) I might put some more stuff in the tags though. If anyone is curious about him feel free to ask. I know a bizarre amount about this kid!

Have you got any controversial rarepairs? And even if some don’t make sense to you, do you like the idea?

Alright, lame answer maybe but…I don’t think I do?? That is to say – rarepairs are my delight and most of the ships I’m currently invested are indeed rarepairs, but I wouldn’t consider any of them particularly controversial. And some of them have so little content anyway that they’re not discussed like, at all, by the respective fandoms so they don’t really have a chance to become controversial in the first place.

As for rarepairs I don’t personally ship but I can understand the appeal of - controversial or not, it 100% depends on the type of dynamic and characters involved! I can’t think of any specific examples off the top of my head but yeah, it’s very much a case by case scenario.

hey since it's coming up again: no it's not a good thing that the government wants to ban tiktok. no you should not be glad that the government might ban tiktok. no you should not respond to this with "good riddance" or "hurry up I hate that app". I should not have to explain this to you but the government banning a social media app is still a bad thing even if you don't like the UI or booktok or having to say "unalive" or how you think it's killing the very notion of attention spans. It's still bad. It's bad.

I finally took the time to photograph my vintage dip pen nib collection, and I need to share with you all how wonderful and diverse their designs are.

These two are my favorite. Just look at them! One of them is named Gorille and the other Mephisto, but to me they're little pumpkins.

And of course you gotta love the Pinocchio nib. You get to write with the nose of a tiny guy! Just not something you get to do anymore.
