It was a bit pitiful, but he was almost grateful when he got the text to resume his post as Hermione's guard in the early evening. He opened the door to his bedroom and walked down the hallway to the next door over, stopping to stand in front of her door. He'd barely been there for a minute when the door was opened and a tiny hand was darting out to grab his.

She pulled him inside, shutting the door behind him. Thorfinn's eyes made a sweep around the room before coming to settle on her. Hermione was already in her pajamas — satiny shorts and tank top in a blush pink color that clung to her curves so enticingly. He couldn't help but arch an eyebrow at her.

"I should be waiting outside your room," he said, his voice a rumble in his broad chest.

"Tom's out for the evening. He's too busy looking for a fight to take care of me," she answered, pink tongue darting out to wet her lower lip. "Not like you."

"That wasn't what I meant," he answered, though he felt himself stand a bit straighter. "You've already been in danger once today."

Hermione took a step toward him again, until her palms were pressed against his chest. "All the more reason for you to be in here with me," she purred. "I know that I'll be safe if you are around."

"Hermione —" he growled out her name, somewhere in between a warning and a desperate plea for her to stop whatever it was that she was doing, because he didn't think that he had the willpower to not indulge in her.

Been going back and forth with a Harry Potter fanfic. It’s a Thorfinn Rowle / Hermione Granger pairing.

Thorfinn’s heritage as a berserker was discovered during the war and used against him. Hermione argues for his release after the war and it’s granted under the conditions that Hermione is responsible for him. This brings her into his circle of friends with a number of other Slytherins including Thorfinn’s sister (an OC named Evie). As expected her friends are not too happy with her decision and turn their backs on her but the Slytherins are there to help her out.

I’m always a sucker for a bit of Weasley bashing and protective slytherins so this story would definitely have a healthy portion of that

He was staring at her again.

She didn’t even have to turn around to know that he was staring at her again, the way that he always did when she had to stand watch. But she wasn’t going to turn around to look at his smirking lips, his overly long legs spread out in front of him, unable to free himself from Muggle bonds.

If she turned, she would find herself meeting his baby blue eyes — eyes that were boyish and smiling, completely disguising the terrible person she knew that he was.

“Granger,” he called out.

Hermione ignored their prisoner and kept her nose stuck in her book.

“Granger,” he repeated.

She wondered when Harry and Ron were going to get back.

“Granger!” he called out once more.

“What?” Hermione finally demanded, turning in her chair to look at him — Thorfinn Rowle. Death Eater. Their prisoner.

“Just wanted to see if I could still get your attention,” he said with that smirking mouth of his. He was always smirking at her, too pleased with himself. “As much as I like the look of your backside, your front is much more appealing.”

Hermione could feel her nostrils flaring as she tried to keep her cool. She knew that he was just trying to get a rise out of her. But, for what was probably the tenth time that day, she wondered how she had let Ron talk her into thinking that taking a Death Eater for a prisoner was a good idea at all. Even worse was that they had to haul his giant ass from place to place whenever they were on the move. Hermione wanted to just leave him tied up out in the woods. She was consistently overruled.

“Very original Rowle,” she answered, rolling her eyes. “Not at all like the first twenty times you said it.”

“Well, my message must not be sinking in, because you keep turning your back on me whenever we are alone,” he teased.

How Hermione longed to wipe that smirk off of his face. “Maybe it’s because I’m tired of looking at you,” she sneered.

Only, that was a filthy lie if she’d ever told one. Despite being completely odious, there was absolutely no denying that Thorfinn Rowle was attractive. And not in an obvious way either. Tall and strong, Rowle had broad shoulders and big arms — arms that were tied behind his back. His face was rather masculine, with a strong jawline covered in scruff after days on the run. She was often reminded that Harry and Ron were still just boys — Rowle was all man. But the best part were his eyes. Those baby blue eyes.

“How long will your sidekicks be gone this time?” he wondered aloud. “Why don’t you come over here and sit on my lap? We could talk all about how much you hate looking at me.”

“Do you really think that’s going to work?” she demanded.

“It’s worth a try,” he said, attempting to shrug his massive shoulders. “I’ve got a not so little something that smart mouth could help me with.”

“I swear to Merlin, Rowle, if you weren’t so attractive, I’d have punched you in the face nine times by now,” Hermione said through gritted teeth, losing her patience with the prisoner once again.

Only, his smirking lips made her all too aware of her mistake. “Ah, so you do find me attractive, Granger,” he said, far too pleased with himself. “I’ll get you to come over her and kiss me eventually. If not from boredom or curiosity, then from your own desire.”

Her cheeks were hot as she turned back around to focus on her book again. “Unlikely,” she answered tersely.

She wished that she felt as confident as she sounded.
