Random fic idea hit me like a train.
Context I've had this idea about the redeemed lords au "gotta get back to school" has and also another fic they made where Tim became a prophet/favorite human and combined the two in my head.
The context is after an accident Tim severed something in his leg, or... Wiggly trying to do something "nice' after removing the pain from that leg accidentally left the leg dead. All the nerves are dead and Tim can't use his leg up to his thigh anymore. Wiggly realizes he's building a prophet instead of grabbing an adult like he always had, instead something similar to how Webby is with Hannah.
Also Grace has been scaring him from a really young age about God since she babysits him all the time. He's not scared of God. He's scared of her and her father getting him and his dad kicked out of their church. Wiggly of course thinks all of that is stupid and encourages him to do whatever he wants because it's more entertaining.
And this is the second time Tim got kidnapped, and this time people are trying to kill the LiB and anyone associated with them. Like Tim.
I need to write this fic out fully but for now enjoy this not great kinda repeaty notes app rambling.

Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990)
Tumblr media
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series continues to torpedo itself with this third instalment. While the first sequel wasn’t good, at least it was trying something different. Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III is little more than a generic slasher movie. Ironically, this makes it the mirror opposite of the original in many ways.
Michelle (Kate Hodge) and Ryan (William Butler) are travelling through Texas when they stop at the Last Chance Gas Station. There they meet its greasy owner, Alfredo (Tom Everett), and a hitchhiker named Tex (Viggo Mortensen ?!). Following one of Tex’s shortcuts, they meet a survivalist named Benny (Ken Foree) and the serial killer Leatherface (R. A. Mihailoff), along with his family of murderous cannibals.
Originally rated X for its gore and violence (in fact, this was the last film to receive an X rating before it's rebranding as NC-17), for years, Leatherface was only available in the truncated R version. Now, you get to see it all in the uncensored DVD release. If you’re a psychopath looking for masturbatory material, here you go. The objective doesn’t appear to be to scare, but to nauseate. The film has so many prolonged shots of flesh being carved and people being tortured. It’s a horror movie, I know. In interviews, director Jeff Burr has stated he knew he would be offending some viewers but did it anyway. I kind of respect this mentality. Those who try and make movies for everyone often end up making movies for no one. The problem isn't that this movie is sadistic… it's that it isn't sadistic AND good. You're never invested in the characters. They’re just meat for the grinder, props whose stupidity is amplified to ensure they'll wind up in specific scenarios which will get them killed or captured. I know the characters don’t know they’re in a horror movie, but come on, that excuse only goes so far.
While 1974's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre featured little gore, sudden terror and a suffocating atmosphere of dread, this is a cartoon. Leatherface has a new high-tech chainsaw, characters die from injuries they should easily survive and others survive blows that should obviously be fatal. The performances are poor. Victims’ shrieks of terror seem muted and the psychopaths are way over-the-top, particularly a little girl (Jennifer Banko), who must have been included solely for shock value. Even Leatherface is overdone with his mismatched grin - he tends to appear from off-screen whenever a scare is convenient. At least the titular killer brings us the film’s one good scene, a gag in which he is playing with a Speak-and-Spell.
While there is plenty of gore to appease those who care more about blood and guts than anything else, even they will likely recognize Leatherface as a pale retread. Though Ken Foree's Benny can be engaging as he actually does more than run around idiotically waiting to be butchered, he’s a side character, more of a plot point than a real human being. Worst of all, the film is hardly - if ever – genuinely frightening. Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III is just a cash-grab. (Unrated version on DVD, November 30, 2018)

Ultimately, the reason Cats (2019) didn’t work is that it never took itself seriously.
You may say “well, how could they possibly do that? The premise is ridiculous.”
Yes, the premise is ridiculous. But the show didn’t earn (at one point) the honor of “longest running show on Broadway” by simply being ridiculous.
Tumblr media
People singing and dancing, dressed as cats, only works by suspension of disbelief.
You can’t suspend disbelief if the narrative isn’t trying to take itself seriously.
Will everyone enjoy the show, even when done right? No. There is, thus far, nothing everyone enjoys. We’re all different that way.
But this
Tumblr media
Is not taking itself seriously.
They look more anatomically accurate and cost much more money to make, but that’s how they come across as less convincing.
Having the physical attributes. The exaggerated features to play off of is INVALUABLE to a Cats performer and their performance.
Cats (2019) doesn’t try too hard for feline mannerisms, but when they do, it doesn’t work. Why? Because there’s nothing actually there to play off of except imagination.
Imagination is a powerful thing, yes, but practical makeup, costumes, and effects are very useful. CGI is more beneficial when trying to create fully fictional or dangerous to film in landscapes. The ocean, an asteroid field, etc.
While humanoid cats aren’t a real thing, they have been created with practical means on stage for decades.

You can stack a cast until they reach the moon. You could have the absolutely most talented singers, dancers, and actors. It will all be meaningless if the overall production is not being taken seriously. Individual actors taking the project entirely seriously (Ian, Judi, etc.) will not make up for others (editing, effects, producers, etc.) not doing the same.
This absolutely goes for anything, with or without a ridiculous premise.

Song Review: Bob Dylan and the Band - “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues”(Live, Jan. 30, 1974)
When a backing band is literally the Band, the man in charge can pull off unexpectedly successful surprises.
So it happened that Bob Dylan in 1974, Jan. 30 at Madison Square Garden to be precise, erased his original arrangement of “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues” and, with help of the aforementioned combo, redrew it in a way that is somehow familiar while being little less than a complete rewrite.
The lyrics, of course, remain. And MSG fairly explodes when Dylan declares: I’m going back to New York City/I do believe I’ve had enough. But the Band stitch a sonic quilt both ragged and streamlined - dirty, yet clean enough to be a palate cleanser.
This huge “Tom Thumb’s” follows solo-acoustic “It’s All over Now, Baby Blue” (Feb. 14) and full-Band “Forever Young” (Feb. 9) performances and precedes the Sept. 20 arrival of the 1974 Live Recordings.
Grade card: Bob Dylan and the Band - “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues”(Live - 1/30/74) - A
