I am in love with this recording he found of The Duke of York's March (Short Troop), by the Old Fort Niagara Fifes and Drums [Facebook link]. There is something deeply poignant and stirring in the sound of this minimalist arrangement.

okay we have a lot of people say some of the mercenaries act like parental figure to scout because he's pretty young, but what about some of them being a parental figure to sniper too? (note: this is for the people who sees sniper as 25-26 years old and don't ship them with the older mercs, not for the ones who think he's +35 grown man)

like, the guy calls his parents and sends them letters and is visibly affected that his father doesn't approves his job or how visibly hurt he looked after realizing his biological parents were both horrible people and abandoned him (and, maybe, he grew having little to no friends, and for what we've seen he loves his parents dearly, still relying on them).

what about engie helping him fix his van while sharing a beer, what about sniper and heavy going on hunting/fishings trips together because both miss their families, and since heavy has always been the older brother for his sisters maybe he tries to act like one for sniper just like he does for scout sometimes.

hell, even if in a moment were spy and him aren't trying to kill eachother they can have a moment of understanding while sharing a cigarette... okay maybe not as a father figue with spy, but you get the deal, just like when you're the new retail work and there's that older, experienced person who every once in a while they share their knowledge about life when you're a bit overwhelmed and lost?

please tell me I'm not the only one.

(note 2: not saying all that in a way to infantilize either scout or sniper, they're both adults who can handle themselves, specially sniper who already lives alone in a whole different continent, but man, I dunno, I'm on my 20s and I'm kinda lost... but there are some people who are a bit older than me, call it a teacher, a friend's parent or a family member that hearing them speak about life or spending time with them makes me feel more easy about everything... maybe they need that too from time to time – just projecting my experience a bit).

Carol and Jacob being able to play with Louis in contemporary clothes with color and different fits and everything is legit one of the things I'm most excited about

I'm genuinely SO curious as to what they do with his costuming going forwards, especially since Carol talked about a lot of his costuming in s1 - particularly in the sense of adopting Black entrepreneurship and Vaudeville's fashion-forwardness - as a type of armour.

I really do feel that 2.08 probably gives us the best indication of what he might wear stepping into this new chapter, and I've mentioned it before, but I love this thought of it really being a blend of these different chapters of his life? His NOLA Saints clothes on re-arrival is so sweet to me, but that bomber jacket he wears in the reunion really calls on that WWII era that he was navigating with Claudia across Europe, and the cardigan in the finale calls on the colours both of Claudia's dress and the coat he wore with his sister. The main uniting thing between the three outfits though is that they look comfortable, and I think that's what I want the most for him as a character? I just really love the idea that a part of stepping into this new chapter of self-acceptance is letting himself exist in clothes that serve only him, if that makes sense?

I do think we'll get some very stylish looks though too, haha, and selfishly, there are a few trends I'd love to see him adopt, haha.

I am just so in awe of this post and I haven't stopped thinking about it since I took this screenshot a couple days ago. Because I realize this is the unstated assumption behind a lot of us politics posting on the internet already (that us politics are more important/real than anything happening in the rest of the world), but I still can't imagine explicitly typing out that threatening to annex your neighbours or participating in a campaign of literal ethnic cleansing in Gaza are distractions from us federal employees being fired or whatever the fuck is going on with elon musk, and not starting to smell that your head is entirely up your own asshole.
