One of my favorite bits in Wheel of Time which I'm sure plenty of people hated (a thing you could say about almost any aspect of the series) is how each of the main three Two Rivers guys have love lives that often fail to even walk the line between hilarious and horrifying, let alone be functional and healthy; but every time they're doing really poorly, each one thinks, independently, "Man, I bet [one of the other Two Rivers guys] would know exactly what to do. He's so good with women." And then you mentally smash cut to that other guy, who is having a somehow worse time, even though that should be impossible.

Rand al’Thor x Reader

The air in the White Tower always felt heavier when Alaena walked through its halls. It was as though the weight of destiny clung to her every step, a reminder of the prophecy that had shaped her life since she could remember. As the “Twin Dragon,” she had been raised to know that her destiny was tied to another—someone she had never met but whose existence had shaped her own. The thought of that other soul, the other part of the Dragon Reborn, lingered in her mind more often than not.

It was the day she turned sixteen when she first learned of her connection to the Dragon Reborn. Her bond with the One Power had always been intense, often overwhelming, but there had been no explanation for the rawness of it until Siuan Sanche, the Amyrlin Seat, had taken her aside. Siuan and Moiraine Sedai had been the ones to raise her, teaching her to harness her abilities and to understand her place in the world. Yet, despite their care, despite their affection, there was always something missing—a part of her that longed to be complete.

She’d been told of the prophecy, of the Dragon Reborn, of Rand al’Thor. They had never told her exactly who he was, but the connection between them was undeniable. The moment they spoke his name, her heart had stilled in a way she couldn’t explain.

It had been a year since she had heard the first whispers of Rand’s name in the Tower. News of the Dragon Reborn spread like wildfire across the land, and while the Aes Sedai remained focused on training Alaena, their eyes often shifted toward the world beyond the White Tower. Alaena had always been quiet about her feelings on the matter, never questioning the teachings of Siuan or Moiraine, but the longing within her had only grown.

“Are you certain?” Moiraine’s voice cut through her thoughts as she stood by the window, watching the bustling life of Tar Valon outside.

“I’ve always felt it,” Alaena replied softly, not looking away from the window. “That I’m meant to meet him. The Dragon. I’ve always known.”

Siuan Sanche, who had been seated at the table across the room, looked up at Alaena with concern. “You have trained for this day since you were a child, Alaena. Do not let the unknown cloud your judgment. The world will change when you meet him, yes, but you must be strong.”

Alaena nodded, though the truth of Siuan’s words had yet to settle in her heart. She could feel it, the pull toward him. Somewhere beyond the walls of the Tower, Rand al’Thor was living his life. And one day, their paths would cross. That thought kept her awake in the dead of night, heart pounding in anticipation.

Months passed before the fates finally brought them together. Alaena had been called upon by Moiraine to assist in a matter concerning the One Power, a situation that led her to a village far from Tar Valon. The moment she arrived, she felt the stirring of something deep within her, something that made her skin tingle with energy. She couldn’t explain it, but she knew.

He was here.

As she made her way through the village, the people gave her wary glances, and she soon understood why. In the distance, she could see him—Rand al’Thor. His fiery red hair caught in the sunlight, his eyes sharp and intent, yet there was something tortured about him. She could feel his internal battle, the weight of his destiny pressing down on him as much as it did her.

Their eyes locked across the crowded marketplace.

For a moment, time seemed to still. Alaena felt the One Power surge within her, and without thinking, she began to walk toward him. She couldn’t look away, couldn’t tear her eyes from his. As she drew closer, he seemed to recognize something in her too—his gaze softened, uncertainty crossing his features.

“You,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I knew you would come.”

Alaena stopped just in front of him, her breath coming in short, shallow bursts. “You… you’re the Dragon,” she said, her voice trembling slightly.

Rand’s eyes widened, and a mixture of confusion and understanding passed between them. “And you’re the one they’ve spoken of,” he said quietly, as though the words themselves were heavy. “The other. The Twin Dragon.”

Alaena nodded, swallowing the lump that had formed in her throat. “I am.”

The world around them seemed to fall away, the noise of the marketplace, the distant murmur of conversation—everything faded as they stood there, two halves of the same whole. The bond between them felt palpable, electric, and the yearning in her chest grew unbearable.

Rand took a step toward her, the tension between them thick in the air. His hand, warm and calloused, reached out tentatively, brushing against her cheek. “I didn’t think it would be like this,” he whispered. “I thought it would be a fight. But… this feels different. It feels right.”

Alaena’s breath hitched as she looked up at him. “I’ve felt it my whole life. The pull. The bond.”

Rand’s hand slid down her arm, sending sparks through her skin. “Then we’re not meant to fight, are we?”

“No,” she breathed. “We’re meant to stand together.”

For the first time, the weight of the world’s expectations, the looming future, didn’t feel so heavy. In Rand’s presence, there was a sense of belonging, a sense of unity she had never known before. He wasn’t just the Dragon Reborn—he was her other half, the missing piece of herself she had been longing for.

“Then let us stand,” Rand said softly, before pulling her into his arms.

The night that followed was one of quiet understanding. They spoke of the world, of the One Power, of the challenges they would face together. It was in this conversation, under the veil of the stars, that they shared their first kiss—not as strangers, not as forces of destiny, but as two souls bound together by a fate neither could avoid.

When their lips met, there was no fire, no burning need, only the quiet intensity of shared understanding, of a bond that had always existed beneath the surface. It was a promise that no matter what came, they would face it together.

For the first time in her life, Alaena felt whole.

2. Aram and Ila!! Their actors are both great and I think their emotional conflicts were handled really well

3. Maiden hand talk!! Also Bain and Chiad in general. Huge fan of those gals.

12. Perrin showing his heightened senses, like when he heard Faile sneaking up on him by the knives jn her sleeves and being able to smell Fain’s fear

14. While it’s a huge break away from the books, i do think that with the characters the show has created, Perrin being arrested by the whitecloaks in the end makes sense. The show built up to that well and I can tell they wrote the whole season with that in mind.

15. “Kill the ones I miss” FUCK YEEEEEEAAAAAH

I do think this is the weakest/my least favorite episode of the season so far. But have you considered Faile Pulling Perrin By The Beard ™?

Last week it was Hills of Tanchico, now it's Sing of Manetheren. That scene gave me chills and I can't get the song out of my head

really loving the symbolism with Egwene and her braid throughout s2,

like in the first season she got her braid and kept it throughout the whole season as a tie back to the Two Rivers,

but by the beginning of s2 after she has been at the tower for a while and starts to consider it her home, she wears her hair down like the other novices,

but then when she is captured by the seanchan, and especially in e7 when she regains her resolve and threatens to kill Renna, she is rebraiding her hair in the Two Rivers style !!

and im just so !! the symbolism !! the characterization !! the acting !! its so gorgeous ily rafe judkins

Jade Empire scenery - Two Rivers

Finally finished my Wheel of Time map for a friend for Christmas. This took me a couple of months which is not nearly as long as I thought it was going to take. It’s freshly ironed it still needs to be mounted and framed. The plan is to back it with something that pins can go into and he can track his favourite characters as he reads. 10x15 self drafted using a light box, a pen and dissolvable transfer paper.
