i just think wolf!toji will always have that reserved stance with humans, and it takes the confirmation that you actually do love him and won't hurt him for him to finally allow you that privilege.

also i think a big thing for him would be the implications behind allowing you access to a part of him that is so vulnerable?? the idea makes his head spin... i think a lot of his reluctance also comes from embarassment bc god knows he does not want to lose his shit around you....

i am MORE then happy to share more self indulgent head canons with lil to NO promptin!! AGH TY FOR THE ASK LOVE!!

1.) Almost the entire gang has had at least one piercin' at some point or another. Soda has his left lobe, Steve has his right cartilage, Two had his snake bite, Dallas had his eyebrow, 'n Johnny has his tongue. They TRIED to pierce Pony's nose but Darry came home halfway through to Pony with just a needle through his nose BAWLIN'. Two's got infected 'n Dallas got aggravated with his. Johnny 'n the gang forget about his all the time until Johnny sticks his tongue out 'n they're like AGH WHAT IS oh never mind that's right. For a while though that man was in the TRENCHES. had to relearn how to talk entirely.

2.) all the boys have what's called a 'special' that refers to a certain behavior. The Ponyboy Special is retellin' a story 'n leavin' out all the parts that make him look bad (specifically when he's in trouble) the Darry Special is pushin' too hard when he's already beat. They'll catch him tryin' to do laundry asleep on his feet 'n someone'll shout HEY THE DARRY SPECIAL IS ON 'n they'll all manhandle him down into the armchair (he claims he's fine 'n is asleep in 5 minutes). The Two-Bit Special is drinkin' before noon. 'N so on.

3.) Darry 'n Dallas are the only early risers. Dallas will fall asleep at three 'n wake up at five 'n somehow beat Darry into the kitchen in the mornin' meanwhile Darry is goin' to bed PROMPTLY at ten. Ten thirty on the weekends that man is an early bird 'n he is takin' his ass to BED. Dallas just runs on three hours of sleep 24/7. They're all waitin' for him to pass out in the middle of doin' somethin' one day.

4.) Dallas manages to be a pseudo brother to both Pony 'n Curly 'n is as much a freeloader at the Shepard's as he is the Curtis' but where Pony brings out a softer side in him Dallas has NO problem sendin' Curly through a wall. They scrap ALL the time. Dallas has scars from where Curly has bit him (the fucker) 'n Curly lost ('n swallowed) six baby teeth as a result of Dallas. Picture Steve 'n Pony but significantly more feral. They always go out for Dairy Queen after.

5.) If Soda had never torn his ACL he would have made it out of Tusla. He would have joined up with a rodeo 'n made it pretty damn far as a bronc rider. 'N he loves it. Really he does. But there's always a part of him that doesn't fit right. Soda is a stayer that went. Darry was supposed to be a goer that stayed. Even in another universe there is a tragedy there.

I’ll start with a blanket disclaimer that this is all my head cannon based loosely on real history and personal preference, and very very sparingly based on the actual Hetalia Cannon. Oh also TW for verbal/physical abuse.

The Nation personas, as I see them, are human-adjacent manifestations of a society under one sovereign nation. This is very open ended, I have no specifics on what quantifies when a persona is “born,” but nonetheless as far as humans are concerned: they know of these personas and have their own complicated relationships with them.

In blanket terms I think these personas were often deified by their cultures prior to the renaissance. Personas like Ancient Rome, or China, or even Japan were probably seen as immortal gods for long periods of their nations’ history. I’m no theologian so I can’t speak to how their existence would influence real life religions of the time, so for the most part I just say they go hand in hand. But nonetheless, to put it simply, the personas have always been seen as others. As I mentioned they are (practically) immortal, and age at an indiscriminate rate (more or less related to the existence of their nation), so pretty non-human in that regard.

I head cannon that Arthur was born in the Dark Ages, perhaps late-800CE. Because of Christian beliefs of the time he had multiple attempts on his life as a baby, as he grew slowly compared to other new-borns, and (evidently) couldn’t be killed. Eventually left in the woods to die, Arthur managed to survive, and grow, and spent decades away from people to avoid violence against him. However, come the establishment of a unified England under Athelstan (? Forgive my English history knowledge) and the establishment of other nations in Europe around the same time, with their own personas (HRE), the English began searching for their nation’s persona and Arthur revealed himself. He was around 200 years old at this point but physical appearance wise he was probably 12-14.

From there on out Arthur was an established figure of the monarchy and lead, (for the most part) a very luxurious life as the English established themselves as a hegemony in Europe. Ofc there’s things like the Hundred Years War, etc, but at this time I think Arthur was becoming very adjacent to his people; power hungry. He enjoyed the life of conquest and empire. Come the age of New World exploration and the knowledge of native tribes along side English and Spanish colonies in the Americas, Arthur most likely advised the English that another persona was likely born, and should be found as part of the race to claim North America.

I head cannon that Alfred was born in the Roanoke Colony (I found this fic shares the same interpretation and I love that!!! <3), and come whatever happened to the Roanoke settlers, Alfred was taken in by a local Native American tribe. I’ve done some research into local tribes during the time period but, in wanting to respect culture and get my facts right, I haven’t settled on a particular tribe or nation. Though I lean towards the Paspahegh. Alfred was of course a unique baby as well, taking years to grow into a toddler, however in alignment of Powhatan beliefs, I believe the Paspahegh would’ve seen Alfred as more akin to an offering: an example of healthy land, a healthy child. This to say, they had no interest in harming him and were not dissuaded by his slow aging.

Of course, as history would go: following the settlement of Jamestown and the Paspahegh Massacre, Alfred was given directly to Arthur (at his request) to raise and tend to. Alfred would be around 20 but physically he was 4, maybe 5. He doesn’t really remember the Massacre, and Arthur doesn’t talk about it.

Initially in the conquest for the New World I believe Arthur was very head strong and goal oriented, but actually meeting Alfred changed that for him. He had of course planned to raise this child for the sake of the English empire (a loyal colony), however he didn’t anticipate actually caring for him. Arthur falls for him hard and having Alfred actually causes him a great deal of anxiety. He fears Alfred will be attacked by people like he was, and he fears what the future holds for him. At this point in history Arthur had seen hundreds of battles, had fought in bloody, brutal wars, and worst of all had seen what people were capable of doing to things they feared. So, Arthur has a house built outside of Jamestown for him and Alfred, and he begins to raise him in solitude.

He’s strict, and of course very English. Alfred is raised in silks and taught piano with a private English education. He’s not allowed to leave the property and he certainly isn’t allowed to speak to anyone who isn’t Arthur, or the rotating house staff. However, Alfred is lively, and very American. He wants to play in the dirt, he wants to be anything but sheltered. From just the first few years together this sparked Arthur’s harsh parenting (to put it simply).

Think, aristocratic. Children should be seen, not heard. Slouching at the table got a slap on the wrist, dirtied clothes? A harsh lecture. “You should be grateful.” Alfred would misbehave, Arthur would yell.

Arthur was often called back to England, and thus spent months, if not years away from Alfred. During these trips Alfred learned to sneak out, and met Davie. I’ve mentioned this “rotating house staff,” who are obviously human, who serve for a time and then change their post (aka return to England). As my “cannon” goes Alfred grew from ages 4/5-16/17 from 1607 to 1770: meaning he grew about 11 years over the span of ~170 years. This to say Alfred was around different humans, though they were all trained royal staff, aka not personable. They guarded the land, fed Alfred, taught him his lessons, but never stayed longer than 3-4 years before being replaced; to a child living life-times longer than them, those few years might as well be a matter of minutes. So, growing bored and antsy whilst Arthur is away, Alfred escapes the confines of his home and meets colonists. The first human Alfred actually got to meet and speak to on his own, as far as I’m concerned, is Davie.

He visited Davie throughout his life, so presumably at least 50 years of watching what would one day be his nation, begin to flourish. Being "America" he probably not only felt a kinship with the colonists he met and observed, but also longed to be living with them and quickly grew tired of his English life-style, and the selfish rules Arthur imposed on him. I can't recall what the show states is cannon, but I don't think Alfred ever tells Arthur about Davie (at least, not while he's young). When Arthur returns from trips abroad Alfred acts as if he never left the house, and the staff don't snitch out of fear of capital punishment(lol). Instead Alfred spends years attempting to gain his own freedom from under Arthur's strict control of his life, attempting to persuade and getting in numerous arguments. He insists the world is not as horrid as Arthur states, and Arthur doesn't buy it for a second. Under duress of the Seven Years War their relationship fractures even more, and conveniently at the same time the American people are beginning to dread colonial rule.

In his own personal act of rebellion against Arthur, and as a final straw (running away from home) Alfred sought a seat at the First Continental Congress, solidifying himself in alignment with the American people, and revealing himself publicly as the nation’s persona. (Educated folk of the time most likely knew of Alfred’s existence but probably hadn’t considered him a contender this early in the revolution). From there of course, independence in declared, the nations go to war. As they say; the rest is history.

TLDR?;

Alfred was the first chance of a normal, human life Arthur had ever been given. He loved him, he loves him, more than anything but he didn't know how to care for him in a way that wouldn't smother him. Arthur had an ideal version of Alfred and Alfred's life in his mind and he would do anything to make that vision an reality, even if it meant ignoring Alfred's wants, even if it meant yelling at him, or hitting him. However, Alfred couldn't know this, he was a child, he loved Arthur, he loves him still, but he resented him for forcing him into a life he never asked for, and punishing him whenever he rebelled against it. The Revolution is the first of many small steps in mending their relationship, and it takes literal centuries of growth on both their parts until Arthur is willing to admit wrong doing and Alfred is willing to forgive.

Okay, i did finally watch the reunion and end of the ep and honestly: I fully agree with you, and I also love it. Its fucked up and kind of perfect bc of that. I had some time to process between finishing the ep and witnessing everything live, but like, that juxtaposition, the whiplash is so good.

Seeing Dorian make jokes and be casual, thinking about Cyrus's body split in half, Dariax turning around to find no one there. Thinking about the joyous reunion and Laudna piling gifts on Dorian and Morrighan sobbing, devastated, Opal and Fy'ra Rai in encroaching darkness, doomed. Dorian, walking, alone.

And Dorian recounts everything in plain little sentences, tone cavalier. He says "It's all right. We all deal with grief in different ways." with a little shrug.

It IS weird, you're so right! That's the point of it! Dorian says "its all right" and Laudna immediately goes "its NOT all right" and that feels like the crux of it, tbh.

But also, what is he supposed to do? What are they all supposd to do? Its messed up and its weird, and there shouldn't be jokes when all that shit just happened. But what else is he going to do? In what world would Dorian have walked away from that and seen them all and not immediately pasted on his best smile and opened with a joke?

I agree that they're definitely the type to get secretly eloped, but if one of them did propose, I honestly think it'd be Sage. I really don't think Viper would think much of it, mostly because by that point I'm sure she and Sage would be acting like a married couple anyway, and aside from the legal benefits she wouldn't see the point of getting married. That, and, well...assuming this is in the context of canon, she's spent years dedicating herself to revenge and practically destroying herself in the process. Personally, I can't imagine that she ever really planned to survive the war between Omega Earth and Alpha Earth, but even if she did, she was probably too preoccupied with working toward her revenge to actually plan for what her life would be like when all the fighting was over. All this is to say, even after the war is over I think she'd have a hard time shaking that sort of mindset and lack of concern for the future, so she would just forget that things like marriage are actually a possibility for her.

On a happier note, I also just think that of the two of them, Sage is more likely to make a bigger deal about getting married. She's not nearly as reserved as Viper is about affection, so regardless of if they actually have a big ceremony or not, I think she'd still jump at the chance to perform a grand gesture like planning the "perfect night" to propose to Viper. It would NOT be spontaneous—she'd put a lot of thought into the entire day, probably, and Viper would definitely catch on at some point, but she'd let Sage pamper her anyway because she thinks it's sweet and she also knows how important it is to Sage. Sage's proposal speech would be sappy as hell, too, and it makes both of them cry because I said so :D

I've sort of inserted her into the parkers in the noirverse because of the crumbs that imply that she worked at the welfare center before EWOAF. I like to think of her and Peter as childhood friends in this universe that grew a distant as they got older, but definitely get really close again after EWOAF.

in my mind I've based some of her backstory in the noirverse off of hers in 616, with the not too great homelife. I feel like if her and Pete were neighbors as kids she could be able to go over there to escape it and they could become friends :,]

Plus I think her being into performance and the arts is such a great narrative tool as a mode to insert some hope into this bleak ass world.

Honestly. I'm actually so surprised that the scene in Caliente, with Kerry being as mega ultra famous as he is, he was not recognized or rushed for pictures or autographs at all. Especially because during the US Cracks mess, he did pull up in inconspicuous clothing. And yeah, that could be for the fact he didn't want people seeing Kerry Eurodyne pulling up and whipping out a gun on people and the headlines that would make 💀 but also?? It's just kind of a common rule of thumb for celebs to follow? so?? Dunno. That or at least having witnessed one psychofan interaction with him like we did with Blue Moon. 

So in relation to that- I think Kerry really appreciates that when they are out, just trying to mind their business, despite Kerry's best efforts to be in his normie disguise, that V is very willing to deal with the paps or fans for him. That god forbid they try to enjoy a meal at some greasy fast food chain like a normal couple without someone practically smacking the burger out of Kerry's hand for a pic.

That he'll block their view of Kerry, obstruct cameras, that he is willing and totally down to punch one of them at a moment's notice or smash their camera to bits if need be (guard dog V my beloved<3) ((Kerry would do it himself, and sure, any publicity is the best publicity, but I think he's learned his lesson before with this and it's just not worth the media circus attached to his name))

That for V, if he comes back all banged up and bruised and scraped, Kerry's there to patch him up. I think Kerry's got a lot of practice in that department for A) bar brawls or situations you know him and Johnny were getting themselves into back in the day, even just fights with each other, but also B) in the later years, when Johnny turns to merc adjacent (?) gigs with Rogue (trying to prove he's the thing he preaches about), it kinda reminds him a lot of that.

V dragging himself to his stoop, cut up and bloody, looking for a certain comfort and care from Kerry there. And Kerry's willing to give it.

(first aid kit a mess on the counter just absolutely dug through, V sitting on the bathroom counter looking up at Kerry and smiling as he applies the final piece of medical tape, and Kerry giving him a little kiss on his forehead or a pat on his cheek like ‘there :) all patched up for the next time you wanna get your ass kicked <3’) 

Alternatively, if we're looking for more sappy things here. Kerry is definitely someone who loves to be dotted on too, can't convince me otherwise. I also think it's the little things V does for him. Brewing coffee for him in the mornings to nurse both their hangovers, sweet or crude or stupid little notes or drawings he leaves if he's gotta leave before Kerry's up, Kerry leaving his phone somewhere V knows his ass is later going to forget where he put it (adhd moment) and putting it out on the coffee table in plain view for him or just handing it to him like ‘here :) found this for you’ punctuated with a little kiss :) 

6. How did they become official? 

I don't think they make it official official until after the engram sitch. Like Ignoring the ‘spend a year with a rocker’ text, more as like cutesy flirting for the sake of narrative progression 💀 I think Kerry was a bit flighty in that regard (based off the FACT HE DITCHES V DURING THE NOMAD ENDING AND BREAKS UP WITH HIM BEFORE THEY CAN SPEND V’S FINAL MOMENTS ALIVE TOGETHER (WHICH I'M STILL NOT OVER) 😭😭). 

They're not really sure where this is heading, what's going to happen to V, if it's going to quite work out, but they're fine pretending at the moment. I don't think it's until post-game that they have a serious sit down talk about it. And even then, V probably reveals during that talk (that's in person btw, V is a gentleman, not gonna just drop a bomb like this through the mouth of his ai avatar on a holocall like some emotionless deepfake freak) that he's still dying from the long term damages of the relic. 

Kerry's go to method of dealing with grief is kinda this- passive anger? He's not sure how he feels at first. “What do you mean you're dying? Thought this whole fucking run around was meant to fix that’, and I think he takes some time to have to digest it. V can't really be mad, either, he still hasn't really processed it himself and he knows this is a lot to just throw on Kerry's lap. 

Eventually Kerry’ll come around, V waiting for him to be the one to reach out. Kerry's a little more resigned to the fact of V's condition when he realizes- this doesn't change how much V means to him. V was this anchor in a very rocky, transitional period of his life. Vital to it, even, the changes he went through. V’s actually really good for him, likes who he is and who he becomes when V's around, and he doesn't wanna give that up. 

So Kerry calls up V, and they meet and they talk and there might not be tears (maybe) but they're both putting on a brave face as they come together and agree they wanna see where this goes, that they'll be there for each other to the best of their abilities. Grief and all. That it's worth it to them. That they'll figure it out when and if that's a bridge for them to cross

10. What is an incredibly heartwarming moment between the two?

I'm cursed to always view things with a layer of melancholy painted over it. While sappy things can 100% be heartwarming, there's a special brand of warmth I especially love and I feel in things layered in a sadness that characters do their best to help the other (or each other) through. 

Like I personally find it heartwarming to think about how Kerry might care for V post game, primarily going off the sun ending. I know they didn't really showcase it in that final scene, the emotional/physical effects left over by Johnny/the relic like the devil ending had, but I do think it's something V would need to grieve thru a lot more than a quick conversation.

And I find it heartwarming to think Kerry sees this, recognizes this, and thinks this is one thing he can give back to V after V gave Kerry back his own drive for life. That Kerry's been through this rodeo before and he knows just how much support can be needed after such a loss, after the impact he personally knows Johnny can have on people's lives.

Everything about V to me, even in other relationships, will always be entrenched in silverv. Not for the romantic aspects either, but for this alterous love that is so deep and a connection so grand no other human can really understand it. And I want to believe Kerry recognizes that even if he's lost Johnny before, this time, for V, it's different.

V's dealing with a grief that's quite literally never existed like this before. That, yes, they both might have a Johnny shaped hole in their heart, where Kerry's had been torn out of him, a hole slowly healing and filled in by time and a full life, but V's is hollowed out of him, left bloodied, still so raw and new. 

Idk. Maybe this is me just not wanting to believe Kerry is like- not this mainly emotionally selfish person? That yeah, he might be, but I don't think it makes him incapable of thinking about others feelings. That V wasn't just emotional and creative booster for him, or at least he's not anymore. That for all his impulsivity, this is the one thing he's willing to be patient for for V. 

So days that V is a little more down and grey, whether it's because of Johnny or the grief of his health that hangs over his head or his health just acting up in general (I see V as chronically ill post game no matter if he's still dying or not), Kerry's there to meet him with understanding. Maybe play him music to comfort him or just hold him or help accommodate for his migraines or give him space that day if that's what he needs, while still letting V know he's never far if he needs him. 

There's also the obvious songs as gifts written for V which would definitely be heartwarming. About their love, about his strength, just about him. And Kerry actually being able to answer questions about the songs in interviews, like if he had a particular person in mind when he wrote them, where he can proudly say his output direct to the camera. (Compare this to his notes on his wiki for his song he's work shopping on his laptop called Vision of Your Memories (which is so about Johnny) and it might help show where I'm coming from) 

38. What is something they admire about the other?

Vs hunger for life. To WANT to live, to constantly be living. Just the fact that for a dying man, maybe it's the self preservation, maybe it's the survival instinct, but V just radiates life. He's driven and determined and motivated to do what he has to survive. His perseverance. Picking himself up when he's knocked down, always hitting the ground running. His strength, his endurance. His persistence.

V admires the emotional depth of Kerry. That he might have a penchant for melodramatics as seen in exhibit A for Arson, but also his lyrics. I think V admires Kerry's someone who can feel deeply, recognizes it even. That Kerry IS a romantic, whether that wants to be believed or not. That once you get past the several layers of that carefully crafted and curated wild card of a gun swinging, drug addled, chaos junkie rockstar image, Kerry's low-key a fucking millennial dork that's sends emoticons like  :* :D :P (I literally cannot imagine him sending those to Johnny 😭 or if he did pre ‘23 he's getting fucking flamed, so I like to think it's a side of him many don't get to see) 

That Kerry can be this ball of energy and life and passion. I also think his talent is something V would admire, especially since we know Kerry's writing at least one love rock ballad about V using emo ass metaphors like ghosts that were once shadows filling the space of a home that he found comfort and life in.

TYYY, doing these asks finally.

1. What was the original thought that led to the creation of this character?

It started mostly from me joking with my friend about different dark urge classes. Bard dark urge sounds so silly, but if you think about it, so much kind of falls out of the concept. Charisma based cult leadership, a reliance on performance. I had read a book about cults and multi level marketing and it was still in the back of my head while I played in the character creator.

5. How did you choose their name and why? Was it simply based on vibes or is there any specific meaning behind the name? Are the reasons behind their name different in- and out of universe?

Almost every time I make a character in a universe, I go to either behind the name or some other name website and just click around. I decided Maeve should be an elf while mucking around in the character creator: long lived, beautiful, seen as kind of above others, but common enough that they can move around society. So I went to some random website to find "elf-y" names, which really were Irish names. Maeve means queen or intoxicating and it was just perfect.

6. What was the thought process behind their appearance? Did you go mostly for the aesthetic or are there other reasons they look the way they do?

I knew that she needed to be beautiful in a very conventional sort of way. She is an ideal, an aspiration, something to be worshipped. I made her hair dark brown because it's a common color and I liked the idea that Bhaal would be trying for someone who could blend in. If you ignore the eyes, anyway, which are too light. I wanted her makeup to be simple because I thought a lack of adornment fit a cult lifestyle, but she had to have something because, again, she is an object to be looked at. The freckles I have no reason. I just thought they were pretty.
