Brake with Confidence: The Advantages of Used ABS Modules.
ABS Modules: The Brains Behind Brake Safety: Modern cars are not complete without Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) modules, which prevent your car's wheels from locking up when applying severe braking. By keeping you in control of your car and preventing skidding, this system improves safety. Used ABS module is the most dependable and affordable option to consider when an ABS module breaks down.
Why Opt for Used ABS Modules?: It may come down to buying a new or used ABS module when your car needs one replaced. Used ABS modules are a sensible option for individuals trying to restore brake safety on a budget because they come with a number of benefits.
Affordability without Sacrificing Quality: The affordability of used ABS modules is the strongest argument in favor of their consideration. New ABS modules can be pricey, particularly when installation labor is factored in. Conversely, used modules offer a more affordable option without sacrificing quality or security.
Eco-Friendly Aspects of Using Used ABS Modules: Choosing a used ABS module can help reduce costs and promote an environmentally responsible method of vehicle maintenance. Selecting a pre-owned part eliminates the need for new manufacturing, which uses a lot of resources and has an impact on the environment. Accepting a recycled ABS module is a step in the direction of a more environmentally friendly and sustainable automotive future.
Conclusion: For individuals in need of an ABS module replacement, used ABS module for sale an affordable and environmentally responsible option. They lessen the environmental impact of new manufacturing while offering significant savings when compared to buying a new module. A used ABS module should only be used after careful planning, careful inspection, expert installation, and testing to guarantee a positive experience. Used ABS modules can help you brake with confidence without breaking the bank, whether you're a driver who is concerned about safety or just want to keep up with the maintenance of your car's braking system.

𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲:
𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧!𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞 𝐱 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭!𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫
Tumblr media
Dante agrees to help a friend study anatomy, nothing serious, just muscle names and touch. But with every brush of her fingers, keeping it together gets harder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Dante x Fem!Reader
Genre: Friends-to-lovers, slow burn, virgin!Dante, Oneshot
Rating: Mature, MDNI
Warnings: Flustered Dante, abs touching, sexual tension, virgin!Dante panic, reader accidentally seductive
Tumblr media
It started with a study session.
You had a practical coming up in your anatomy module, and none of your classmates were willing to sit still long enough to be used as a reference. At least not without trying to flirt, interrupt, or act like it was a date.
So, in a fit of frustration, you’d turned to Dante.
He owed you one anyway. After dragging you into some hell-infested warehouse last week and laughing when a demon nearly snapped your leg, he’d promised to “make it up to you however you want.”
Apparently, that meant letting you use him like a very warm, very sculpted anatomy model.
He hadn’t expected it to get this serious, though.
You arrived at his place with your textbooks, notes, a clipboard, and a quiet intensity that made it very clear: you weren’t here to mess around.
“No flirting,” you’d told him before even sitting down. “No smug comments. You’re basically a living skeleton today.”
He’d rolled his eyes, muttering something under his breath but he behaved. Sat down. Took his shirt off. Let you study him like he was just another diagram.
That was the idea, anyway.
Now, kneeling beside him, you were already diving into shoulder anatomy with practiced ease, naming structures, examining muscle groups, sketching notations in your book like he was just a chart.
And Dante?
Dante was trying not to combust.
He really should’ve said no.
Not because he didn’t want her touching him- hell no, he wanted that more than he wanted to admit but because he hadn’t realized how hard it was gonna be to pretend it didn’t matter.
But he obeyed.
It was slow. Careful. Methodical.
Torturous.
Her touch was light, careful, dragging over the shape of his shoulders and upper back, pressing into his deltoids, tracing the curve of his biceps. She’d even had the nerve to ask him to flex.
He’d flexed.
“Long head of the triceps brachii connects here,” she murmured, her fingertip brushing the inside of his arm. “Crosses the shoulder joint and anchors along the infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula.”
Her voice was calm, clinical. Completely professional.
Meanwhile, Dante was ready to dig his own grave.
He bit the inside of his cheek, trying to keep his breathing steady, staring at the floor like it owed him something.
She was close. Too close. Her breath brushed over his skin every time she leaned in. He could smell her shampoo. Could feel her knees brushing his thighs as she shifted.
And she didn’t have a damn clue what it was doing to him.
“Relax,” she said gently, noticing the tension in his shoulders.
Dante forced out a laugh. “Yeah. Easy for you to say, doc. You’re not sittin’ half-naked while someone pokes around like they’re lookin’ for buried treasure.”
She giggled, actually giggled, and pokes his arm lightly.
“I appreciate you letting me do this, you know.”
He swallowed hard. “Yeah. Anytime.”
He meant it. Even if he was dying inside.
She moved lower, fingers drifting across his sides. “Okay. Let’s take a look at the abdominal region.”
His breath hitched.
She didn’t notice.
Not when she shifted again, this time kneeling directly in front of him, her thighs brushing his legs, face level with his stomach. Not when she leaned forward and pushed his arm aside to get a better angle. Not when her fingers found his lower ribs and followed them down.
Dante froze.
Her hands were warm. Gentle. Focused.
They slid over the ridges of his abs, tracing the line of the rectus muscles, fingertips dragging with maddening slowness toward his navel.
He couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe.
He’s wrestled with demons all his life, but this time, the ones inside him were winning. His body betrayed him, hardening in his jeans so fast it hurt, blood rushing south like it had a death wish.
And she was right there.
So close her knuckles nearly brushed the top of his waistband. So close she could see everything he didn’t want her to see.
Well... no, that was a lie.
He did want her to see. Just… not like this.
She tilted her head, oblivious.
“The external obliques run from here...” she touched his side, just above his hipbone, “...up to the lower ribs. They assist in rotation and lateral flexion. Can you twist a little to your right?”
He did, barely, but the motion tightened every muscle in his stomach, and his erection twitched in his jeans, aching.
Dante cursed under his breath.
“Did that hurt?” she asked, immediately concerned.
“No,” he said too quickly. “No, I’m fine.”
But he wasn’t. Not even close.
His palms were sweating. His jaw was locked so tight it ached. And if she moved her hand even an inch lower...
“Hey, uh.” His voice cracked. He cleared his throat. “Maybe we… stop there?”
She blinked. “I haven’t gone over the lower attachments yet. I still need to trace the linea alba and-”
“Trust me,” he cut in, voice strained, “you don’t.”
There was a pause.
Then her eyes flicked down.
It only took a second, a second to realize what she was looking at.
Her gaze snapped back up to his face, wide-eyed, cheeks blooming scarlet.
Dante cursed softly and dropped his head into his hand. “Shit.”
“I-I didn’t mean-” she stammered, voice small. “I wasn’t trying to make you-”
“I know,” he said quickly. “I know you weren’t. It’s not your fault.”
She didn’t move. Neither did he.
The air between them felt thick. Quiet. Loaded.
“You’re…” She hesitated. “You’re really warm.”
He laughed, hoarse. “Yeah, well. That happens when you’re turned on.”
She inhaled sharply.
Dante groaned, pressing his palm over his face. “God. Sorry. I’m sorry.”
“Why are you apologizing?” she whispered.
He looked at her.
She wasn’t laughing. She wasn’t pulling away. She was just...staring. Flushed and breathless and maybe just as rattled as he was.
“Because,” he said, more quietly now. “Because I’m your friend. And I didn’t wanna make this weird.”
She didn’t say anything for a moment. Then:
“…Have you ever…?”
He blinked. “Ever what?”
“Done this,” she said softly. “Been with someone.”
Dante swallowed, throat dry. “No.”
Her eyes searched his.
He shrugged, suddenly very interested in the floor. “Didn’t wanna fuck it up, I guess.”
“You wouldn’t,” she said immediately. “You wouldn’t.”
Something in her voice made him glance back up.
She looked nervous. Hesitant. But not scared.
Not running.
“Dante,” she said, voice barely above a whisper, “can I…?”
He didn’t answer with words.
He just leaned in: slow, scared, shaking and let his forehead rest against hers.
The kiss didn’t come yet.
But it could.
It was there, waiting.
And maybe, if she leaned in a little more…

This is more just some more information of headcanons I have and how I like writing the bots. So I hope you enjoy it. This one's more on the differences and similarities between humans and Cybertronians.
Word count: 2.5k
Warning: mentions of reproduction, and exploration of body's. Valveplug.
__________
So this is just a continuation for Human effects. This one also delves into some more information on biological, cultural and different frames and how they interact with each other, humans and other organic Creatures.
Biological Humans and Cybertronians are vastly different even with quite a few similarities.
Sparklings and children
There is a very big difference in the body function of Humans and Cybertronians. Size for one but also Organic DNA and CNA. There are many things which can Line up with the other species but also function very differently
Such as.
structure and organ comparison
Plating - skin
Helm - head
Processor, brain module - brain
Faceplate- face
Audio Receptors, Audials, Receptor orifices - ears
Nasal ridge, enstril, olfactory sensors- nose
Optical ridge - eyebrows
Optics, visors  - eyes and glasses sometimes visors are used as optics
Intake- mouth, throat or a breath.
Denta, denta plating- teeth
Glossa- tongue
Mandibles (insecticons) - jaw
Vocalizer- voice box
Chin or chin plating are the same
Chestplate, chassis- chest and higher stomach (abs area)
Fuel tanks- stomach.
Backplate, back struts, binary system,  bipedalism - back and spine, spinal cord.
Servos and digits - Hands and fingers
Sounder plating - shoulder blades
Pede - feet
pump and Spark - heart and soul
Energon lines - arrays veins.
Vents - lungs, breath.
Pelvic plate - pelvis
Aft, tailpipe, skid plate- butt
Interface panel - covered reproduction organs
Spike - penis
Value - vagina
Carrier chamber, Gestation chamber - womb
Helm and head
With the fact one is filled with circuitry, coding and wires and the other is filled with flesh, fluid and other organic matter. Humans' heads are covered in hair most times. And even those who aren't their head Is still rather soft and smooth. And the bots love playing with human hair and facial hair when they are allowed too.
It also leads to humans giving the bots head scratches, and it's something so man you the bots had never thought of and they love it. They will lay their head in their human lap and just enjoy the gentle touches to their Finial, audials, and helm crest. It becomes. Causal thing of the humans using soft little microfiber cloths to clean out dust and dirt from the small crevices in the bots Plating. Head pats and scratches really becomes something that Cybertronians love alot and it makes a lot of humans consider the bots large cats.
Faceplate and Faces.
One of the things which is very different between humans and Cybertronians is how they show affection to each other. Cybertronians do a thing called a helm hold. Where they each hold their partner's helm in their servos while looking into each other's optics, it's how they show how much they care, because they are focusing only on that one person. And it means alot more after the war, to focus all your attention on just one bots servos shows a lot of trust, affection and love for someone.
While humans have Hugging, kissing. So the bots are rather confused the first time they are hugged, tensing up not wanting to hurt their human. And they nearly short circuit when the human kisses them it's more out of fear.
“Do you know how dangerous that is! What if I crushed you!” The bot hisses in panic while looking at their lover. “not to mention the fact that is my Energon Intake! Do you know what energon can do to Humans!” It nearly sends the bot into meltdowns as they hold their lover's face staring into their eyes trying to show them how much they love and care for them. It would break their spark if they accidentally hurt them.
“it's called a Kiss, I was kissing you” the human tries to explain, their hands cupping around their bots servos.
“a kiss?” the bot inquired. “Yea I'm sorry if you didn't want it, it's just I thought we were in that part of our relationship” the human begins rambling out of anxiety thinking they had messed up. In the end they both settle for a small gesture in-between. Pressing their head and helm, together as they cradle the other.
Eventually they will come around to accepting kisses but it is only for very special occasions. Because the bot will make sure that there isn't a trace of energon in their system for their partner's safety. Over time it becomes them pressing soft kisses to each other's noses.
Skin and Plating
These are all the parts which somewhat are similar to humans, but also work vastly different than the human body does. So with this listed here are many of the things that vary with the similarities.
Plating and skin are vastly different due to one being metal and the other being flesh, it's one of the things a lot of the Cybertronians love is how soft Human skin is. They really enjoy just fondling their human companions, pulling their checks, and enjoying how their skin moves. How pliable, warm and squishy they are. Cybertronians finding out about human breasts really takes them by storm.
“What are those?” the bot asks while pressing a finger to their breast feeling how soft and squishy they are.
“breast, boobs, tits they have a lot of names”
“What are they for?” The bot continues to just slowly play with them out of curiosity, not knowing what the human would need them for.
“they are used for feeding babies, they fill with milk, it's not a constant thing and not everyone's do but they are for feeding babies.” the human tries to explain and it just leaves the bot shocked.
“You're with Sparkling?” The bot asked as they began fussing over the human more, gently pressing their digits to the human's body more.
“no, no I'm not pregnant!” They laugh out loud while rather embarrassed. “‘but wouldn't they deflate?” The bot shoots back as their digits begin needing the flesh which makes the humans sigh and lean into the touch. “human babe, don't have the same functions as you.” They tease softly.
It ends up with one bot having their human lover back pressed to their Chassis. The bot's servos just cupped around their partners breast slowly massaging them as the human leans back just enjoying the feeling because it takes the weight off their back and the cool touch of the metal feels delightful against their skin.
Heart and spark
The difference between a human heart and spark aren't that different at all. They both pump blood/energon to where it's needed, it's the life provider of the body. Each has a beat or pulse. And the said beat and pulse sounds different. A human's heart beat feels like a thump but to Cybertronians it's an echo. Each beat they can feel and see like A beating light. And they love how it feels laying against them, their spark will actually fall in tune With their heart beat as a way to calm the human.  While for humans a Cybertronians spark pulse feels like electricity dancing across their skin it's like the build up of static but it doesn't zap. The vibration of a spark is like energy building and releasing, the buzzing sound that just resonates through their body as they lay against their bot.
olfactory sensors and nose
Unfortunately humans don't have the enhanced scent sensors that a lot of other species do, and Cybertronians have one for the most advanced ones, they don't just smell it but they can break down the chemical compound to its base and are able to tell humans emotions based on how they smell. It also leads to bots becoming rather touching with their lovers when they can smell their cycle. It also leads a lot of bots realising they have a breeding kink after being with a human, because the moment they can feel their partners change in hormones they are hovering. It becomes an even bigger thing when they smell the scent of a young spark, they feel the EM Field.
carriers and pregnancy
There is a major difference between human pregnancy and cybertronian pregnancy. Humans can only be born from reproduction.  a new spark can be formed in multiple ways.
-Forged.
-Cold construct.
-split spark
- Sparked
Forged new sparks are bots that are formed in hotspots across cybertron and on occasions sparklings can also be formed from these hot spots.
Cold constructs are bots that have been made by others for a purpose and were originally classed as 2nd class citizens, miners or lower than other bots,
Split Sparks made from splitting your spark into another form. It was very rare due to multiple laws being inplace against it.
Sparklings were formed through spark merging with another and creating enough energy to form new lifeforms. A carrier would then have to host said spark in their Gestation chamber until the spark could grow its own protoform. Then from there they are moved into the carrier chamber where they learn off their carrier's coding, and also receive food, coding and personal information from their Sire via Transfluid. As sparklings are still not able to consume normal energon and it has to be processed down enough for the sparkling. (Similar to how humans breastfeed) from there once they are ready the sparkling will be ‘birthed’ and from their they will need to be carried in a spark chamber until they have fully developed but gives them time to learn the world around them but still have the safety of a parent to protect them.
This leads the bots and humans to both be horrified at the differences of the others' reproduction. The bots are horrified over the fact a human's pelvis bone breaks just to birth a baby. But also the fact that humans can carry more than one child. They eventually watch a documentary over human birth; it makes a lot of bots short out and crash.
Humans on the other hand are shocked over the time it takes for a bot to have a sparkling. 100 years is longer than a lot of humans ever live but it's how long it takes for the full process of a sparkling to be formed and born. That's without all the issues with CNA, temperature, spark energy, energon. A Lot of Cybertronian pregnancies don't make it to term due to these factors.
So when by some chance a human gets pregnant by a Cybertronian it has the whole planet up in a tissy. Not just the fact of how genetically different they are but how it happened. The first human Cybertronian sparkling is a miracle watched by man and documented. And it turns out the human womb is actually the best possible hosting spot for the start of a sparkling, it's the perfect temperature, and it's not a temperature a lot of bots can keep their own frames. The human womb actually short cuts a lot of time over the birth Due to the sparkling Not needing to be shifted from one chamber to another. It comes down to being pregnant for 3 years. It's a long time for a human but it's decades Less than what it normally takes for a Cybertronian if they made it through the full progress.
And when the sparkling is born it's discovered that the sparkling doesn't have any human traits, defects or appearance. Due to the human body mainly working as a host, the CNA and DNA don't mix when it comes to creating a sparkling but they work perfectly in sync When it comes to helping the sparkling grow. And it also turns out humans are able to sustain more than One sparkling.
That also brings me to the function of spike and Valves. For Cybertronians spikes and Valves aren't how Sparklings are created, sparklings are created from two sparks merging together and creating enough energy for a sparkling but interface is needed to start the process of how they form. Sparkling needs Transfluid to begin and that is what Cybertronians use interfacing for outside of sharing memories, information and emotions. Most times Cybertronians interface for fun, feeling close, sharing information with a loved one, or to help feed a sparkling the necessary data, fluids and programming.
so When a Cybertronian and human interface it has a lovely mix of a 50/ 50 chance of getting pregnant due to how the human and cybertronian heart and spark link in a frequency that is almost essential Spark merging. And a human doesn't even need to interface with a Cybertronian to get pregnant.
Here is a list of ways humans have gotten pregnant/ a bot has gotten pregnant.
-interfacing
-spark bonding
-a human touching a bots spark.
-having enough hated for another you get them pregnant by sheer Anger
- spark And heart syncing
-A human being on their cycle will make a bot pregnant.
______________
Megatron entered the medbay of the Lost Light, feeling unusual warmth and pressure in his chest. "Ratchet," he said gruffly to get the medic's attention. "Something is...off. I feel as if I have consumed fool's energon again, but I know that is not the case."
He looked down at the medic, his optics betraying slight concern beneath his usual stern demeanour. "Examine me and determine what ails me. I need to be at full function." His pride did not allow him to admit weakness easily, but he trusted Ratchet's skills.
Ratchet nodded to First Aid and They as they stood ready to assist. He turned back to Megatron with a scrutinising gaze.
"When did you first notice the symptoms? Any other anomalies in your systems?" he asked gruffly, scanning the Decepticon warlord from head to foot with a diagnostic tool. The scans showed unusual activity in Megatron's Gestation chamber.
"Hmm...it appears your spark is pulsing more rapidly than normal. And the pressure you described suggests a buildup of energon flow." Ratchet paused, analysing the data. "This could indicate...no, it's not possible. Or is it...?" He leaned in closer, inspecting Megatron with keen optics.
"We'll need a more detailed scan. Over here, lay back - this won't hurt but may feel peculiar. First Aid, fire up the resonator. Ambulon you're in charge of monitoring vitals."
"What's wrong, ratchet he was fine this morning?" The human asked in concern.
Megatron lay back on the medical berth as directed, his massive frame dwarfing its size. his expression softened ever so slightly. As the detailed spark scan began, Ratchet's optics widened in surprise. "By the Allspark...it can't be..." He motioned First Aid "Look here. What do you see?"
First Aid peered at the monitor in amazement. "Two distinct spark pulses...but how is that possible?" Ratchet glanced over at Megatron, then back at the others. "It would seem Megatron himself is carrying sparkling. The increased energon flow and pressure were signs of protoform development beginning."
He chuckled wryly. "Well Megatron, it seems that fool's energon was not to blame after all. Congratulations...you're going to be a creator." Megatron's optics widened in disbelief at Ratchet's announcement. Carrying sparkling? It made no sense as far as he knew, spark merging could only occur between cybertronians and he had only been intimate with a human.
He sat up abruptly, almost knocking First Aid over, and glared down at Ratchet. "Explain yourself, medic! How is this possible? The human and I have been intimate but they clearly lack our means of conception." Ratchet held up a calming hand. "Peace, Megatron. I have a theory,"

Planes, trains, boats, automobiles and even feet. During the past decades and centuries, global travel and human migration have made all of us more worldly — from our broadening awareness of the world beyond our birthplaces, to our more sophisticated palates, to our immune systems that are increasingly challenged by unfamiliar bacteria and viruses. In the elderly, these newly imported pathogens can gain the upper hand frighteningly quickly. Unfortunately, however, vaccination in this age group isn’t as effective as it is in younger people. Now a study conducted in mice by Stanford Medicine and the National Institute of Health’s Rocky Mountain Laboratories provides tantalizing evidence that it may one day be possible to rev up an elderly immune system with a one-time treatment that modulates the composition of a type of immune cell. The treatment significantly improved the ability of geriatric animals’ immune systems to tackle a new virus head on, as well as to respond vigorously to vaccination — enabling them to fight off a new threat months later.

actually anzu should probably give the full long story on how the len mental illness really happened. its very long ! and a bit personal mayhaps but anzu doesnt really mind, its nothing too much. the general jist of it was already told thru how anzu discovered yomorins works and fell in love with him.. forever now probably. and hereby anzu is very grateful towards yomorin and len-high prison... but! theres more to how it got to that
in a distant land. also known as the year 2020. okay well actually before this, this may shock some people but anzu used to date people. this is absolutely crazy right.. well anzu doesnt do that anymore. unless len himself counts 💛 BUT ANYWAY ! 2020 was the last year anzu has ever dated someone and anzu wont get in the details here, but 2nd last person anzu has ever dated was someone that's cosplayed len. anzu [only] ever drew len before during this period so anzu doesnt really count it because it was either him or for him...! so really, anzu has never drawn len in anzu's entire life until 2024. until the big project diva art ! tiny ...
Tumblr media
well anzu just spoke ab this recently on twitter, len was sincerely the one anzu cared for least out of aaaaall the main ones. anzu has drawn every single other one before besides him... well! it happens.
anzu bought up the beginning after cut because its relevant somewhat...! that person that anzu's dated then was also a yume to certain modules or vocaloids from songs and anzu remembered that on a whim one day ... and was like wow... anzu can try that too....... upon looking at what vocaloids from where or what to yume. anzu got laughed at by friends that every single one anzu chose was a len. 😭 its ok anzu gets it it is joke worthy... 😔😔😔 well! the first one was giga's arrange cover 1 2 fanclub len on 4th november. anzu drew him then ! but then......... something monumental happened....... <- merry sexmas came up on the recommended section, as anzu had just talked ab that song a day prior w friends. anzu got to talk ab how anzu specifically remembered that besides not caring about len... anzu always loved the one drawn by yomorin since all the way back in.. like.. 2015!! and then. anzu wanted to save the art of that one in higher res.. and anzu had hence discovered yomorin the very next day and anzus life was sincerely changed forever. anzu did not know about len-high prison prior, or that merry sexmas was made under that group. or EVEN THAT GIGA MADE IT 😭 anzu has proof of having liked it since 2015 though........ but that art will be a surprise for now for a bit longer because anzu has a devious plan 💪
thats basically it........! as for anzus ex... well anzu doubts this will ever reach him but if it does, anzu really wants to thank him as well, because this also wouldnt have been possible without him, and this is the happiest anzus ever been...! ww. anzu also hopes hes fine and well :)

Dinkclump Linkdump
Tumblr media
I'm on tour with my new novel The Bezzle! Catch me TONIGHT in LA (Saturday night, with Adam Conover), Seattle (Monday, with Neal Stephenson), then Portland, Phoenix and more!
Tumblr media
Some Saturday mornings, I look at the week's blogging and realize I have a lot more links saved up than I managed to write about this week, and then I do a linkdump. There've been 14 of these, and this is number 15:
https://pluralistic.net/tag/linkdump/
Attentive readers will note that this isn't Saturday. You're right. But I'm on a book tour and every day is shatterday, because damn, it's grueling and I'm not the spry manchild who took Little Brother on the road in 2008 – I'm a 52 year old with two artificial hips. Hence: an out-of-cycle linkdump. Come see me on tour and marvel at my verticality!

Best thing I read this week, hands down, was Ryan Broderick's Garbage Day piece, "AI search is a doomsday cult":
https://www.garbageday.email/p/ai-search-doomsday-cult
Broderick makes so many excellent points in this piece. First among them: AI search sucks, but that's OK, because no one is asking for AI search. This only got more true later in the week when everyone's favorite spicy autocomplete accidentally loaded the James Joyce module:

(As Matt Webb noted, Chatbots have slid rapidly from Star Trek (computers give you useful information in a timely fashion) to Douglas Adams (computers spout hostile, impenetrable nonsense at you):

But beyond the unsuitability of AI for search results and beyond the public's yawning indifference to AI-infused search, Broderick makes a more important point: AI search is about summarizing web results so you don't have to click links and read the pages yourself.
If that's the future of the web, who the fuck is going to write those pages that the summarizer summarizes? What is the incentive, the business-model, the rational explanation for predicting a world in which millions of us go on writing web-pages, when the gatekeepers to the web have promised to rig the game so that no one will ever visit those pages, or read what we've written there, or even know it was us who wrote the underlying material the summarizer just summarized?
If we stop writing the web, AIs will have to summarize each other, forming an inhuman centipede of botshit-ingestion. This is bad news, because there's pretty solid mathematical evidence that training a bot on botshit makes it absolutely useless. Or, as the authors of the paper – including the eminent cryptographer Ross Anderson – put it, "using model-generated content in training causes irreversible defects":
https://arxiv.org/abs/2305.17493
This is the mathematical evidence for Jathan Sadowski's "Hapsburg AI," or, as the mathematicians call it, "The Curse of Recursion" (new band-name just dropped).
Tumblr media
But if you really have your heart set on living in a ruined dystopia dominated by hostile artificial life-forms, have no fear. As Hamilton Nolan writes in "Radical Capital," a rogues gallery of worker-maiming corporations have asked a court to rule that the NLRB can't punish them for violating labor law:
https://www.hamiltonnolan.com/p/radical-capital
Trader Joe’s, Amazon, Starbucks and SpaceX have all made this argument to various courts. If they prevail, then there will be no one in charge of enforcing federal labor law. Yes, this will let these companies go on ruining their workers' lives, but more importantly, it will give carte blanche to every other employer in the land. At one end of this process is a boss who doesn't want to recognize a union – and at the other end are farmers dying of heat-stroke.
The right wing coalition that has put this demand before the court has all sorts of demands, from forced birth to (I kid you not), the end of recreational sex:
https://www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2024/02/getting-rid-of-birth-control-is-a-key-gop-agenda-item-for-the-second-trump-term
That coalition is backed by ultra-rich monopolists who want wreck the nation that their rank-and-file useful idiots want to wreck your body. These are the monopoly cheerleaders who gave us the abomination that is the Pharmacy Benefit Manager – a useless intermediary that gets to screw patients and pharmacists – and then let PBMs consolidate and merge with pharmacy monopolists.
One such inbred colossus is Change Healthcare, a giant PBM that is, in turn, a mere tendril of United Healthcare, which merged the company with Optum. The resulting system – held together with spit and wishful thinking – has access to the health records of a third of Americans and processes 15 billion prescriptions per day.
Or rather, it did process that amount – until the all-your-eggs-in-one-badly-maintained basket strategy failed on Wednesday, and Change's systems went down due to an unspecified "cybersecurity incident." In the short term, this meant that tens of millions of Americans who tried to refill their prescriptions were told to either pay cash or come back later (if you don't die first). That was the first shoe dropping. The second shoe is the medical records of a third of the country.
Don't worry, I'm sure those records are fine. After all, nothing says security like "merging several disparate legacy IT systems together while simultaneously laying off half your IT staff as surplus to requirements and an impediment to extracting a special dividend for the private equity owners who are, of course, widely recognized as the world's greatest information security practitioners."
Look, not everything is terrible. Some computers are actually getting better. Framework's user-serviceable, super-rugged, easy-to-repair, powerful laptops are the most exciting computers I've ever owned – or broken:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/11/13/graceful-failure/#frame
Now you can get one for $500!
https://frame.work/blog/first-framework-laptop-16-shipments-and-a-499-framework
And the next generation is turning our surprisingly well, despite all our worst efforts. My kid – now 16! – and I just launched our latest joint project, "The Sushi Chronicles," a small website recording our idiosyncratic scores for nearly every sushi restaurant in Burbank, Glendale, Studio City and North Hollywood:
https://sushichronicles.org/
This is the record of two years' worth of Daughter-Daddy sushi nights that started as a way to get my picky eater to try new things and has turned into the highlight of my week. If you're in the area and looking for a nice piece of fish, give it a spin (also, we belatedly realized that we've never reviewed our favorite place, Kuru Kuru in the CVS Plaza on North Hollywood Way – we'll be rectifying that soon).
And yes, we have a lavishly corrupt Supreme Court, but at least now everyone knows it. Glenn Haumann's even set up a Gofundme to raise money to bribe Clarence Thomas (now deleted, alas):
https://www.gofundme.com/f/pzhj4q-the-clarence-thomas-signing-bonus-fund-give-now
The funds are intended as a "signing bonus" in the event that Thomas takes up John Oliver on his offer of a $2.4m luxury RV and $1m/year for life if he'll resign from the court:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE-VJrdHMug
This is truly one of Oliver's greatest bits, showcasing his mastery over the increasingly vital art of turning abstruse technical issues into entertainment that negates the performative complexity used by today's greatest villains to hide their misdeeds behind a Shield of Boringness (h/t Dana Clare).
The Bezzle is my contribution to turning abstruse scams into a high-impact technothriller that pierces that Shield of Boringness. The key to this is to master exposition, ignoring the (vastly overrated) rule that one must "show, not tell." Good exposition is hard to do, but when it works, it's amazing (as anyone who's read Neal Stephenson's 1,600-word explanation of how to eat Cap'n Crunch cereal in Cryptonomicon can attest). I wrote about this for Mary Robinette Kowal's "My Favorite Bit" this week:
https://maryrobinettekowal.com/journal/my-favorite-bit/my-favorite-bit-cory-doctorow-talks-about-the-bezzle/
Of course, an undisputed master of this form is Adam Conover, whose Adam Ruins Everything show helped invent it. Adam is joining me on stage in LA tomorrow night at Vroman's at 5:30PM, to host me in a book-tour event for my novel The Bezzle:

Music of TURN
Round 19
Hangin' in the Wind
3.10: Trial and Execution
Also from what I learned, is that Matt Berninger sang this. The same singer in the Hush theme.
The motif that we hear when Andre dies (and Abe nearly dying) is present through the entirety of the episode. The episode opens with this theme on solo violin as we watch Nathan Hale be executed. We've associated it with death/hanging, and it serves as anticipation to what we know will come as we watch the gallows in Setauket constructed, the trial, the journey to the site, and the final march where it's played on fife with a drum cadence.
What we heard be mostly solo instruments play this motif, it goes into a full string ensemble as Richard saves Abe.
Just for you, I spent time humming at the piano with a tuner and this recording trying to figure out what key this is. C# minor, which usually along with the sadness of a minor key, has a lot of introspection, grief, and self-punishment. (Think moonlight sonata for reference). And then it modulates (changing keys by using similar notes) into E major, which is the relative major to C# minor. This key usually evokes dissatisfaction, a ready-to-fight feeling, but also joy and delight.
If this is confusing... welcome to music theory. This is the least daunting stuff.

Yankee Doodle
4.09: Reckoning
I did not intend for this to line up on Yorktown day, but it makes it all the better.
I don't have much to say on thematics because the moment is based off true events. But I have a gripe that the fingers of the piccolo/fife plays don't even move the same time the note change. Or worse, hold the same note.
This song really does embody the spirit of America, especially in this context. Playing the song your defeated enemy once mocked you with. At a surrender so embarrassing and ruinous that your own general does not attend and you attempt to surrender to the French to make it hurt less. Any way, I love Yankee Doodle and it should be played more often. The spotify recording is of a piece I played in high school, the ending is the best part so give it a listen.

Two decades late, but inspired by the movie of all things. So here's a brief analysis of Wicked Act I and the importance of key signatures.
First an overview of post-Wagner key signature conventions.
Tumblr media
It is quite common post-Wagner to have the entirety of an act or even the whole opera to work towards the resolution of one chord. Composers sometimes are very careful to never play the final chord in order to trigger that feeling of catharsis and arrival. Wagner was known to underpin every song with the dominant, while also orchestrating it so it feels unstable, thus making the audience on edge. So once the final chord is played, there is a feel of "finally". He weaponised music theory to make the audience feel just as much longing as the character themselves. Schwartz is well-versed in music history, so I have no doubt the following key signature choices are intentional. This is especially true since many well-known composers also utilised this technique, such as Sondheim, Webber, and Zimmer. Schwartz also collaborated with Zimmer multiple times, and we can see their influence upon each other in later works.
Tumblr media
Now, let's break down the keys of the major musical numbers we'll be looking at.
1) The Wizard and I - Ab+
Tumblr media
2) What is this Feeling & Popular - C+
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3) Dancing through Life - F+
Tumblr media
4) I'm not that Girl - A+
Tumblr media
5) Defying Gravity - Db+
Tumblr media
It's clear based on orchestration and important moments that Schwartz had chosen to represent characters and their "true selves" using a key that represents them. Elphaba is Db+ because of its darkness and seriousness. Galinda's is C because of its purity and cleanness. Fiyero's is F for whatever the fuck. It's like the hardest key to sing in but go off.
Tumblr media
Now, the relationship between "The Wizard and I" and "Defying Gravity" is meant to demonstrate that the "I want" song is the dominant to the resolution of Elphaba's character arc in "Defying Gravity". This is why "The Wizard and I" cycles through a bunch of keys while never touching Db, each time climbing higher and higher, closer and closer to Db, but stopping short at C.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Galinda being in C+ demonstrates how close she is to Elphaba, but the two actually being very different. Db and C are not pleasant notes to hear next to each other. But, C is the leading tone to Db, so in a way, Galinda is a very necessary part of Elphaba. She is the stepping stone to Elphaba becoming who she really is.
Tumblr media
The most interesting part for me is the keys between "Dancing Through Life" and "I'm not that Girl".
Tumblr media
Fiyero's key is F+, this the audience and Elphaba knows because we heard his song before Elphaba's final transformation. Elphaba likes him but doesn't think she's the right match for him. This realisation is expressed through "I'm not that Girl", which is in A+. A+ is the mediant of F+, expressing a desire to harmonise with him and be a pair with him. It is one of the rare songs that doesn't skip through a million keys, demonstrating her very earnest desire to be that girl, but recognising she is not.
Tumblr media
However, with "Defying Gravity", it becomes clear that Elphaba's key is Db major, which means Fiyero is the mediant to her key. He is meant to harmonise with her. Elphaba is so desperate to spin around someone else's orbit, that she doesn't realise she's literally the sun and Fiyero spins around her.
Tumblr media
We see a glimmer of her realising this is true in "I'm not that Girl" as well. In "I'm not that Girl", Schwartz uses compound time to represent fantasy, and simple time represents reality. When she's talking about "what could have been" in her 6/8 fantasy land, the chords are in Db major. But only for two fucking bars. Schwartz goes Ab -> Db (cadences) but it's Db add9, meaning it doesn't quite sound right. However, it is an early hint that Elphaba recognises this as "a love she assumed she lost" when in reality, she knows that she is the tonic to her own song.
Tumblr media
Also, at the end of "Popular", Galinda modulates from C+ to F+, demonstrating that being popular ultimately is about being like Fiyero. It's also reflected in the lyrics of both "Dancing through Life" and "Popular", where the underlying ethos is "form over content". So at that moment, we truly feel like Galinda and Fiyero belong together due to their shared ethos and now shared key.
Tumblr media
But Elphaba changes everything... Because with the last song, we recognise that as the true cadence. The entirety of the first act is in Db major, making Ab the dominant (the earnest desire), F the mediant (a pretty harmony), and A an unfortunate passing tone. Elphaba was never meant to be someone's girl. Fiyero was meant to be her guy.

muah besitos x repsonder msi preguntas saluditos chayito tqm
Okay, long post!
Here's a few posts I've already made on the kids: - Arrival - Qualifications - Names - Abilities Other than that, they kinda just do... hero things. They do go to school at the FoH headquarters- basically homeschooling tbh. But they do patrols and they go out on fights and it's dangerous. They aren't usually all friends because it's a very competitive environment, so it's usually pretty lonely. Either your teammates hate you or they're dead.
Yeah lol, he's an alien prince and he will Not go back home now that he's got a family
Full disclosure, I've never even had a taco before so I didn't even know there are different types of taquerias, but the one Roier works at is lowkey his? Like his dads are rich af so they bought it for him as a birthday present when he turned 18, but he was like "Dads nooooo I wanna make my own way in the world!" so he works as a server and cook and lets other people take care of the business side of things. Is it practical? Considering he's also Spider-Man, it works for him! 4. So Charlie is kinda nothing, but he's been heading down a steady path towards villainy since his daughter, Flippa, was taken from him and put into the Junior Hero Program. He can't control when he Geggs out, though, so he kinda just sits in a sewer and mopes. Meanwhile Mariana was so bad at being a hero that the FoH literally kicked him out, and now he's also. In a sewer missing his daughter. But tbh the two of them will probably end up as partners in crime as soon as Charlie figures out how to purposefully Gegg all over the place 5. Etoiles joined the FoH entirely willingly because he fully and totally just legitimately wants to protect the city. But he lowkey hates everyone in the FoH and is like two seconds away from quitting and turning to vigilante-ing because he knows that the entire system is corrupt. But he wants to keep his daughter safe, too, so he's waiting to quit until she's just a bit older. Then they can be the father-daughter vigilante duo they've been planning to be since Pomme was, like, three 6. Wilbur is a rock star who can make flowers appear out of thin air, and his ability is so useless that the FoH can't even use him as a spokesman for the organization. All he does is make pretty flowers for his daughter and leave to go on tour, but that's fine, everyone loves him, anyway 7. So Quackity and his identical twin brother ElQuackity don't speak to each other. Quackity is an ordinary dude working at a coffee shop downtown with a shapeshifting ability that he uses exclusively for pranks and bullying. Meanwhile ElQ is a former villain who was "reformed" by the FoH. He works for them now, and he's the guy in charge of the Junior Hero Program: Dr. Duck, how scary 8. Yeah! Everybody's real in this au! I don't think any of them except Tubbo and Mouse and Bagi and maybe Willy and Rivers would ever appear in a proper big role because the story would focus on Cellbit and Roier and the people they know and work with yk? 9. Nope, nothing with the cat stuff this time. I'm focusing more on what the actual q!Cellbit is like in this au, what with the literal fear rooms and the spooky vampire castle and the fact that he's out here calling himself a vampire lol

productivity:
finished + sent biochem group asst (finally! i wish i never have to do another group project in school again but that is a wish made in vain 😅)
finished + sent biochem discussion replies (i wish they would give us feedback on the ones we've done so far... 😣😣😣)
set up bujo for next week
watched psyc and mol bio module reviews
finished mol bio notes for this week
i still have the last half of psyc notes to finish but i'll do that on monday bc it's finally reading week and i'm taking the weekend off! 😌😌😌 (i really really really really hope that the 2nd half of the semester won't be super draining 🙏🙏🙏)
self-care:
tried a lower abs workout (we might not be where we wanna be yet but we're getting stronger every day we try 💪😤)
🤔 an honest review of the week: there was a lot more i wanted to do (really just 2 things, but they're kind of big and would've been spread out over the week), so i feel kinda disappointed about that. yet i wonder, even if i had not gotten distracted, would i have gotten to them? this week's content was kind of tough and i would have liked to take more real/rejuvenating breaks and just kind of...chill more so i don't feel the stress sm 😅 my daily phone time has been the highest it's ever been during a school week (and the fact that i have now regressed to spending at least 30 mins on it each when i wake up and b4 i go to sleep... 🙈 that should absolutely stop) and i could instead use that time to more intentionally relax and do self-care things, things that are neither school nor self-study, things that feed my soul and not just my career like playing piano, catching up on @zzzzzestforlife's fiction recs, catching up on my watch later, journalling... that is what "best me" would do...

Ooo could you talk about music theory some? I used to have a friend who liked it a lot but we arent friends anymore </3
One of my favourite harmony things is called a chromatic mediant chord/modulation. This is when you use a chord whose root is the 6th or the 3rd in the key but is not in that specific key, or you alter the 6th or the 3rd and make a chord from that.
For example, in C major, the chromatic mediant chords would be A major, Ab major, Ab minor, E major, Eb major and Eb minor.
An example in a piece is in the 4th movement of Mahler's 9th symphony.
youtube
In the 3rd bar, we start on a Db major chord (the tonic) then move to Ab major (the dominant) then to A major (a chromatic mediant of Db). We see this is a mediant relation when we respell Db as C#.
The reason this sounds nice despite not being a diatonic chord is that we have smooth voice leading. That is, the different lines don't have to go very far to get to their next note
