I wrote this after hearing about Val Kilmer’s death. We lost a massive talent, and our Madmartigan. RIP Val, you will be sorely missed.

As he leaves Tir Asleen to find the Kymerian Cuirass, Madmartigan leaves Sorsha a private letter. These are the contents of that letter.

My dearest Sorsha, 

My sun! My moon! My starlit sky!

I first said that to you under the influence of Dust of the Broken Heart. Never had I spoken such true words before that moment.

Listen for my voice, when the wind howls. I will shout your name into the night before I fall asleep and again every morning when the sun wakes me from my slumber. 

I ask only one thing, don’t forget me. I can endure rocky terrain, sleeping on the cold ground, and battle wounds, but to be forgotten by you or our children would be something I am unable to recover from. Hold me in your thoughts and tell elaborate stories about Madmartigan, the greatest swordsman to ever live. You may embellish to really sell the story!

My dear, please keep Kit and Airk close to your heart, as I will hold you all close to mine. They are good but fragile children. Not in the physical sense, they are our children after all. But fragile in their souls. 

A tenderness resides within them, one that needs to be protected. You are their shield as much as I am Elora Danan’s. 

If I do meet my end on this journey, I will not go gently into the night. I will fight until the bitter end, knowing what awaits at home is greater than any heavenly realm. 

And if death does come for me, I hope she has your eyes so I can see them one last time before I pass into the light.

I will dwell in darkness until I am able to return and feel the touch of your hand once again. And if I do not return, know that I loved you until the very end.

Kit had bonded with his father over baseball, and even though that was a sensitive memory to have to recount, Kit still loved baseball. Every season, his TV was tuned in every time the Dodgers played. If the TV wasn't on, it's because Kit was at the Dodgers game in person. But since the move to Briar Ridge, watching the games on TV was the only option.

He was more than excited to learn that he had passed his love for baseball down to his oldest son, Miles. When they were still in Los Angeles, the two of them often spent time playing catch in their backyard or going to baseball games. Miles, now 7, was finally at the age that Kit believed he could join a team. He was in the process of getting him signed up for Little League before the big move.

Now in Briar Ridge, he had to find a way to keep his son busy! He'd seen the rec center a few times on their drives home from school. So this particular Saturday morning, while enjoying some one-on-one Dad and Miles time, they visited the rec center to get more info on potentially joining a baseball team.

The two boys walked in, looking at all the little things they had on the walls, peeking their heads through the fitness room windows to see if they could find someone to help them. Alas, they'd found someone who Kit really hoped worked there, or else he'd be embarrassed (to say the least).

"Hey there! My name's Kit, and this is my son Miles, and we were wondering if there was any kind of Little League in town we could sign him up for?" Kit spoke with a soft, kind smile while Miles held his baseball glove tucked under his arm.

since i keep talking about portal lately i figured i'd post the (slapdash) designs i did for the portal AU of my ocs Kit and Reza, with Reza as GLaDOS and Kit as Wheatley :] it was a lot of fun to design them even if i'm not certain that i necessarily did anything super cool or unique with them lol.
