yes, the consequences of ai in academia can be devastating and we should be concerned about it. but you know what else we should be concerned about? the impact of the overt suspicion and paranoia against students just trying to get through their degrees to survive in this world
you think scrutinising students and trying to decipher who has and hasnât used ai will be done without bias or prejudice? you think international students wonât be flagged for using âtoo formal/staticâ language because thatâs how they learned english? you think poc, disabled or other minorities that are often belittled wonât be unjustly flagged for sounding âsmarter than they areâ? you think lower-class students will be unaffected by having to spend extra time and resources to show up at meetings to prove they havenât used ai?
itâs never going to be a fair and proportionate impact when we focus all our energy on âcatchingâ the bad ones
conversations around ai should always acknowledge and emphasise the safety of students and people, we cannot become hyper vigilant unpaid police who try to point out whoâs âfakeâ with no regard to how subconscious biases affect the direction of your finger
#carina rants#genuinely this is on my mind 24/7#can you tell my friends and i have been unjustly accused of ai#i got the accusation over mail on CHRISTMAS. DAY. and had to show up to a meeting with pages upon pages of evidence#i have never ever ever touched ai#and the people i do know use it somehow don't get flagged or accused#there was even a case at my uni of a biased professor only flagging students he didn't like personally#if we focus our time and resources on âfindingâ the ai users instead of adapting assessments or teaching style#it will only impact the vulnerable#i'm angry and tired#i'm sure a similar case could be made for artists but i am not the person to do that

another thing i forgot to elaborate on. sheriff's hat and his role.
prior to his death he was still "the sheriff". but the hat was poorly defined, a loose suggestion of a sheriff's hat. (this is taking the art style from the series of course - there's a flashback in MPN showing him wearing the normal hat but look at him. the hat on its own looks almost comical compared to how plain he seems otherwise.) trying to be something else, an identity that has been crafted, a role he has crawled into, a name he has given himself.
a leader, a peacekeeper, someone who makes decisions, who guides and takes responsibility. traits and characteristics that sheriff possesses none of, at least not prior to his death. but this is the kind of person that sheriff wants to be, I think. anyone else, anything different from the person he is. and it works, for a time, it helps him be approachable and liked among nexus citizens, and he garners trust and appreciation from many of them. something jeb was all to eager to make use of, and sheriff yielded to it.
when his face is later blown off by hank, he loses that hat. that identity is stripped from him, for while it is undeniably intertwined with who he is (a title, a name, a role), who is he now? alone, cast down like this? stripped of your title, subsumed in your failures, directionless and lost?
but when he pulls himself out of the other place through all the stuff I described here, atop his head he finds a new hat. it has a defined shape, clearer detail, pinned with a scratched brass star.
a new chance. a recognition of his resolve, an opportunity to slink back to the safe and familiar, and using that to carve a way forward.
you are different now, yet so very much the same.
#_text#self loathing so deep you would remake yourself into something you're not and yet its become part of you and you cannot be separated from#it. i don't think the sheriff is anyone else but the sheriff now. that is his choice. but it makes me think if he was someone different#like armour to wear over the body. to guard the vulnerable core. an adaptation to fit into this world and its harsh laws#and in a way now. he does embody that role as a sheriff.#sorry my sheriff posting. i've been thinking about him for a while

5 Reasons Why Schizoids May View Emotional Vulnerability as Weakness
Emotional vulnerability is often seen as a strength in many contexts, yet for individuals with schizoid traits, it can evoke a different response. Many schizoids may view displays of emotional vulnerability as weakness. This perspective is rooted in our internal dynamics, past experiences, and unique coping mechanisms. Here are five reasons why this perception might develop...
Emphasis on Emotional Independence:
Schizoids tend to prioritize emotional self-sufficiency. For many of us, emotional independence provides a sense of control and stability in an otherwise unpredictable world. Vulnerability, with its reliance on others for emotional support, might be perceived as a loss of this autonomy, leading to an internal judgment of it as a form of weakness.
2. Early Experiences of Emotional Invalidity:
Many schizoids have histories of emotional neglect or invalidation. Growing up in environments where emotions were dismissed, overwhelming, or weaponized can lead to a subconscious belief that vulnerability is dangerous or unwise. This internalized view may make emotional openness seem impractical or even harmful.
3. Preference for Rational Over Emotional Processing:
Schizoids often lean toward intellectual and logical modes of understanding the world. Emotional expressions, which can appear unpredictable or unstructured, may conflict with this preference. As a result, emotional vulnerability might be devalued or misunderstood, reinforcing the perception that it lacks utility or strength.
4. Fear of Emotional Overwhelm:
For some schizoids, the ability to remain detached is a protective mechanism against feelings of overwhelm or emotional pain. Witnessing others openly express vulnerability might trigger discomfort or even anxiety, as it confronts them with emotions theyâve worked hard to suppress. This fear can result in labeling vulnerability as weakness rather than facing its implications.
5. Misinterpretation of Strength in Vulnerability:
The schizoid need for emotional distance can create a limited perspective on what constitutes strength. Vulnerability, which requires courage and trust in others, may be misinterpreted as dependency or fragility. However, this view often overlooks the resilience required to be open and authentic in the face of uncertainty or potential rejection.
Reevaluating Perceptions of Vulnerability...
While itâs natural for us to perceive vulnerability through the lens of our own experiences, this perception is not necessarily fixed. By exploring the origins of our beliefs and recognizing the diverse ways strength manifests, we can cultivate a broader understanding of emotional dynamics. This doesnât mean abandoning our preference for detachment but rather giving consideration to a more nuanced perspective.

been hearing rumors that the "i'm always straight" lines may have been cut from the GN and IF that is true, I expect everyone will be super mad about that--and ngl i'd mourn the loss of it too because it has become iconic to me
But. i can't believe i'm playing devils advocate for this, BUT it is not entirely unreasonable for an adaptation of this work to decide it does not want to reference Ronan's sexuality yet......coming to terms with his sexuality is (one) part of his arc in the 2nd book. Adam Parrish being ~the 2nd secret he doesn't want to admit to himself~ , Ronan's catholic guilt homoerotic nightmares and the like, all characterize his sexuality as something he might vaguely be aware of but seriously struggles to openly admit. I don't think he even uses the word gay or any other word to describe himself in the whole series? (unless I'm forgetting something?)
So, idk, it's not unreasonable to want the (hypothetical) audience to also not be aware of it until Ronan is forced to directly grapple with his identity next book.
i think this is one of those things that has become very dear to the fandom over time, but if i look at it objectively without my feelings, i just.....i do understand why someone could conceivably decide that this off-handed bitchy "he's gay btw" joke is not of dire importance for the sanctity of the story đ in the 'pros don't outweigh the cons' sort of way....
#like..#in context of TRB it has some plausible deniability as just a teenage boy standard 'your gay' joke#but coming from adam#someone not characterized as immature in the typical way#it can read like a genuine observation (it did to ME when I read the book the first time and I didnt even know ahead of time which/if any-#were gay) its an observation that he IS being bitchy about rn but only bc ronan was just being bitchy to blue#and like. it comes off differently from adam because he is also not straight (but idk if ronan knows that so who knows how he took it)#wish we had his pov for that moment tbh#it is my personal head canon that Ronan lynch has never officially 'come out' to anyone#'coming out' has way too much of an emotionally vulnerable connotation to it. and i think all of these teen boys would rather die-#-than be even a little emotionally sincere on purpose. td3 said ronan thinks hes the only queer person at his school mind you#and with all the catholic guilt he has about it?? i dont think he is secure enough to openly talk about it#i always imagined Adam and /probably/ gansey have had to put two-and-two together over time on their own#any time the topic of girls or dating casually comes up i imagine ronan glaring into the distance / avoiding the question /changing subject#b/c he does not want to lie but he does not want to say anything else either so he says nothing#and his silence is so loud that his friends just. make some natural guesses#i think THAT would be his only plausible method of 'coming out'#ronan's sexuality is other peoples problem he is sure af not going to talk about it. that feels the most in character to me#(at least at this stage in his life-- while he's an insecure teenager)#yarrow reads trc 2.0#yarrow reads trc#the raven cycle#the raven cycle graphic novel#forgive me i am not like. invalidating whatever deeply personal relationship someone may have with 'thats the biggest lie you ever told'#its just my onion i swear its not some kind of 'gotcha'#i was really surprised by the extreme emotional attachment so many people apparently have with 'hey tiger'#a line i would've assumed was changed for no reason deeper than just 'sounding kind of awkward and unnatural'#but the dissertations ive read on it in the past couple days..apparently i underestimate the emotional toll of any given quote in this book#i dont envy anyone who tries to adapt it lmao

#star's shinies#khr#uni khr#yuni khr#personally I subscribe to the parthenogenesis theory of sky arcobaleno creation#it would explain their lack of partner (earthling genes should be diluted over generations if they were mating with humans#and there is no confirmed fathers)#the short and somewhat deranged (looking at you Luce) timeframes#their short lifespans could also be a byproduct of this! a common issue in genetically identical populations is that#a) offspring will always inherit any genetic disease or predispositions the parent had#and b) that unless there is a random mutation populations cannot adapt to changes- in this case it could be human diet#air quality#disease#pretty much anything considering how little we know about Earthlings#essentially whatever caused Sepira's death her descendants would also be very vulnerable to#this could also explain why the pacifier doesn't pass outside their family!#if they are all an unbroken line of clones it may all read them as the same owner#in a normal situation its not very likely for a stronger sky to never be born in the whole world#especially considering the arms races the Underworld is always in regarding stronger flames weapons and powers (estraneo)#all this to explain why I drew her belly button as the black lily symbol (I thought it was a cute idea) which you can barely see anyway lol

"Ganondorf is the avatar of power, he would never show any weakness, he is incapable of any sort of genuine kindness, he should be written as someone who is always in a position of dominion and invulnerability because someone like Ganondorf could never be any other way-" Honestly, skill issue.
#being vulnerable isn't just about being a crybaby that wears their heart on their sleeve#I would in fact argue that Ganondorf is very vulnerable#his emotions are erratic and change at the drop of a hat#you can easily rattle him if you know what sets him off#he has a plan and is confident in his plans#but the second one thing goes wrong he completely fucking loses it#compare that to Link who will be faced with the worst circumstances and adapt without breaking a sweat#ganonthots

By the kindness of Lord Godalming, I am empowered to read her letters and papers, for I am deeply concerned about certain matters vitally important. In them I find some letters from you, which show how great friends you were and how you love her. Oh, Madam Mina, by that love, I implore you, help me.
See, this gets lost in adaptations where Van Helsing is a genius expert who knows everything and is everyone's teacher.
He is a softie who sees live between two women and he ASKS FOR HELP from one.
I love this moment of vulnerability from him. It would have indeed been so easy to write him as the unshakeable pillar of the gang â but he is very much shaken, and that makes him all the more likeable!

(...) Silver had terrible hard work getting up the knoll. What with the steepness of the incline, the thick tree stumps, and the soft sand, he and his crutch were as helpless as a ship in stays. But he stuck to it like a man in silence, and at last arrived before the captain, whom he saluted in the handsomest style. He was tricked out in his best; an immense blue coat, thick with brass buttons, hung as low as to his knees, and a fine laced hat was set on the back of his head. âHere you are, my man,â said the captain, raising his head. âYou had better sit down.â âYou ainât a-going to let me inside, capân?â complained Long John. âItâs a main cold morning, to be sure, sir, to sit outside upon the sand.â âWhy, Silver,â said the captain, âif you had pleased to be an honest man, you might have been sitting in your galley. Itâs your own doing. Youâre either my shipâs cookâand then you were treated handsomeâor Capân Silver, a common mutineer and pirate, and then you can go hang!â âWell, well, capân,â returned the sea-cook, sitting down as he was bidden on the sand, âyouâll have to give me a hand up again, thatâs all.â (...) Silverâs face was a picture; his eyes started in his head with wrath. He shook the fire out of his pipe. âGive me a hand up!â he cried. âNot I,â returned the captain. âWhoâll give me a hand up?â he roared. Not a man among us moved. Growling the foulest imprecations, he crawled along the sand till he got hold of the porch and could hoist himself again upon his crutch. Then he spat into the spring. âThere!â he cried. âThatâs what I think of ye. Before an hourâs out, Iâll stove in your old block house like a rum puncheon. Laugh, by thunder, laugh! Before an hourâs out, yeâll laugh upon the other side. Them that dieâll be the lucky ones.â And with a dreadful oath he stumbled off, ploughed down the sand, was helped across the stockade, after four or five failures, by the man with the flag of truce, and disappeared in an instant afterwards among the trees.
#one of the most compelling aspects of black sails as an adaptation is that it absolutely plucks out these threads and weaves them#in an even clearer pattern#there is no merit in a civilisation that metes out humiliation to the ones it deems dishonourable and the connection between the two#and basic human kindness#same as i would argue there is no personal value to people that engage in the same type of behaviour on the interpersonal level#(as seen through dufresne)#disfigurement and disability as spectacle and spectacle as punishment and the system of values that upholds both#which leads to the weaponisation vulnerability in the face of brutality#(this among many other things extends to jack's character arc and his relationship with masculinity as represented by blackbeard)#but also in specific relation to disability#the imagery billy foists over silver's name without permission as part of his propaganda#has direct roots to the impact of the original material#to the one legged demon jim hawkins conjures up in his mind#and to the belief systems inherent to the success of chattel slavery#there is no ideological difference between a belief in racial purity and ableism#the two are always hand in hand#anyway look at the violence inherent in the system etc#black sails#treasure island

thinking about âbut there seem to be only two of themâ in detourâŠtwo creatures learning to adapt to a hostile environment, fighting to survive, fending off that which encroaches and invadesâŠstrange cryptids that baffle outside observers and defy understanding. alone with each other. inextricably linked.
#the whole ep is about adaptation for survival#mulder and scully have developed an unspoken communication that helps them immensely in their work#but leaves so much unsaid and unaddressed in their personal relationship#but thereâs a great deal of danger in saying it out loud; in making what they both know or at least suspect to be true tangible#to make it real makes it vulnerable to being lost#crossing that line could be to the detriment of their survival#OR SOMETHING idk#the x files

Next time we should just skip over ep 3 and do a chapters 84-87 reread
#Mmmmmmhhhh.#Well. If anything you can always tell when there's a ss/kk episode by the fact that it takes me two hours to watch it lol#What can I say. I'm a compulsive screencap taker#Mmmmmmhhh... I was right it wasn't as bad as I remembered it. Still moderately bad but not all bad.#It's just. I can feel the animators did their best.#I suppose it's just a difficult episode to animate within a short time frame since it's a specifically action packed one.#And the lack of time really shows. Like there *are* some detailed animated passages here and there. But then there's also these long static#shots that stretch on forever that are just... Idk. A little saddening to see I guess? Like the animators really ran out of time for them#There's also a big component of... I just can't vibe with the newfound artstyle. Like it looks soooo much worse than s1 in my opinion#Which you knowâ is only subjective! But eh... The distance between s2ep11 and this feels abyssal.#Everyone looks so ugly oftentimes. Like even in curated shotsâ they're just very rough and ungraceful.#Which like?? How could you look at Harukawa's art and come up with //that//??????? But it's whatever#And the pacing is so so off đđđ God please to death with 11 episodes long seasons give us filler episodes back. Please!!!!#The pacing is atrocious and it has not even to do with the animation. Even greatly animated episodes suffer from it.#Mmmmhh... I don't particularly like Fukuchi's vacting... He doesn't sound tired enough. Nor as pitiful as much as he should tbh#Among the three I feel like only Uemura really nails the job. I'm so sorry Onoken but I feel like even Akutagawa needs to sound vulnerableâ#once in a whileâ you know? Althoughâ if he's only going with how Bones depicts himâ then I get why he would act him out like that đđđ#There were so many reused shots too... The ones from the end of s2ep11... The s3ep12 kokko zessou one... Ss/kk running in the corridors...#Overall. Not as bad as I remembered it. But at the same time I get why I was so distraught because they really wasted the best fourâ#chapters of the manga just like that.#The âis his life that precious to youâ moment was terrible đđđ Head in hands fr#Oh well. I babble a lot but it was okay. Like at least it wasn't season 3 kind of bad. And definitely wasn't t/pn s2 kind of bad LOL#I just hope ss/kk will be made justice in the future (â„ïčâ„)#Especially since their new scenes (current manga events) are possibly going to be adapted in the first episodes of the new season.#If Bones pulls another s5ep3 on them you're going to see me on the news#Then again I have hope the arc finale will be adapted in a movie... Who knows...#Most of all I hope they change art style direction again D:#random rambles#Whaaaa it's so late already!!!#Edit: Oh also to not forget I've made like. One hundred posts. Maybe it's time to unfollow me now if you haven't already D:

Jessica, one day, calls Blonney as 'Blonney', rather than Jennifer.
Blonney then spends the next few hours wondering if something happened /lh
Imagine đ
Blonney has made everyone, before and after 1.2, to call her by the facade she goes by: Blonney. Not even Vertin calls her Jennifer and we know Vertin is the exception to many.
Jessica being the only one allowed to call Blonney by her name is more than just a name, it means that she's been there to see the true Jennifer grow and is the only exception to every rule Blonney set up for herself.
Imagine one day, her beloved girlfriend comes by and calls her "Blonney". It's some emotional damage actually.
The only one allowed to call her by her name, the only one who knows the true Jennifer under the facade of Blonney, started calling her by the facade.
It would take Blonney a second to recover, then ask Jessica to call her by her name. "Blonney" again.
And so she goes to Tooth Fairy with tears in her eyes and a low head (I think Blonney sees a supportive adult/parental figure in TF that she never got) asking Tooth Fairy why Jessica isn't calling her by her name.
I don't think she would ask Jessica directly because there's nothing unusual in Jessica to signal she's done something wrong, or at the very least, it's something Jessica isn't willing to share (there's nothing, actually)
Eventually they find out Jessica started calling Jennifer "Blonney" because she thought she was being rude by not using the name she's been telling everyone else to use.
#reverse 1999#defining sanity#In my eyes Blonney is this strong girl that with the right person she just becomes a vulnerable mass#she's kind of a sad little girl that had to grow up and adapt too quickly so she's only vulnerable with those she deems safe#And only trusts Jessica to go pass her tough facade that took years to perfect#I think this has angsty potential#everything has angsty potential to me#I'm so in love with them it should carey in any and every ask about thek how passionate I am

why can you use transference on necramechs... they predated warframes but they're not warframe replacements
waddahell
is it because they have "sentient pulse disablers" which probably are void related (since otherwise sentients would have easily adapted to something technological)
honestly if i start thinking about necramechs my brain is gonna break
#wf tag#warframe is a bit iffy on what counts advanced enough for sentients to adapt to lmfao#tenno are void powered biomechs which is why they are direct counters#grineer use archaic ballistic weapons so sentients cant adapt to that#corpus logically should be the most vulnerable#as were orokin#so im just scratching my head here#what is the cutoff for technical complexity that the sentients start adapting to#also why is it something technically complex specifically#why am i asking warframe lore questions#need to draw more old man yaoi and think less

See, Grover got to Percyâs side, made to help him down the stairs when Annabeth said one of them needed to stay behind to buy time.
And you know he immediately had a memory of Thalia, saying she needed to stay behind to protect them from the monsters, and he immediately felt that same guilt and fear and anxiety rush over him.
And he pushed back against her staying behind, because he wants everyone to make it through this, and he wants to be hopeful, but when Annabeth explains herself, he no longer verbalizes his objections. Because on some level, he knows that quests require sacrifices. Sometimes demigods die and they die young and it isnât fair, but it happens and you canât stop it.
Maybe a part of him recognized Annabeth was the best choice. Sheâs the best equipped because sheâs had the most combat experience, and Percyâs on deathâs door so he canât stay behind, and arguing would waste time, but whatever justifications Grover had in his head, you know he felt awful. He felt history repeating itself, of him turning his back on one demigod companion to ensure the safety of the most vulnerable of the party. Him forced into a position where he will always feel a coward.
And then Percy flips the script and starts to talk, and Grover canât even maintain hope that the combatant will make it out of there.

coming up with zombie apocalypse stories is always fun because you can just say whatever and people will just have to take your word for it
#personal#oh it doesn't make sense? zombie media rarely makes sense if you really think about it we're here to have fun be quiet#for this one specifically they've created some fertilizer with a newly discovered fungus as ingredient#because of its regenerative abilities it would be great for crops because they'll grow better and faster and whatever#but soon enough it turns out that the fungus can make you very very sick and well. that's how it all starts#original strain only turns a handful of its victims into zombies because it targets people with strong immune systems#the stronger your immune system the more likely your body ends up being to start taking on the functions of the fungus cells#which means it starts regenerating a bunch of dead cells and then you become a ghoul. oops!#but then you can also start changing other people into zombies which is how it ends up escalating because the original strain itself#wouldn't be strong enough to end the world but the fact you can turn others is what makes it spiral#especially big cities become vulnerable because the zombies are like. highly adaptable?? you get different types of zombies in different#environments so like city zombies are super fast but not too sturdy so they die quick but also change 1-3 other people before they go#and countryside zombies are a lot sturdier and tougher to kill but also are just much slower etc etc and so on#and because it's all in a fertilizer there's also zombie plants!! which is fun because they're an invasive species#so there's just zombie nature taking over regular nature and zombies can use these like#zombie forests to regenerate in and all that :] horrible times all around!
