the borderline deification of the WoL is interesting from a certain standpoint but I think my favorite version of storied hero is the way Zelda handles it. no one knows of your deeds, not even you; you're the only one who bears witness and the only one who journeys and at the end of it no one will know of what you've done except you and this legend you've wrought by your own hands. WoL is more the legend that others made and uplifted if not practically forced upon the adventurer, which is the opposite; it matters little if the tales are true. you are the Warrior no matter if you closed your eyes to your role the entire time

1. Three ships: First is obviously the ship I write for on my main blog here: WoL/G'raha Tia from Final Fantasy XIV. My other two favorite ships are Midna/Link from the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Karlach/Tav from Baldur's Gate 3.

2. First ship: Midna/Link. I first played Twilight Princess when it came out in 2006 when I was 13 years old, and that ship has stayed with me all these years.

First fic I posted on AO3 was A True Place for a Just Man which is an Anders Origin Fic I wrote for my very first ever Big Bang back in the early days of DA2 fandom. Not my first ever fic as I was posting a lot on ff net back then and only migrated... er... some of my fics over.

Last fic is my current BG3 WIP The Illusion of Choice which is a gameplay fic from Astarion's POV because I have A Type Apparently.

Fandoms I've written for only once, oh I've got a lot of these, apparently. I've only written one fic for Zelda which is interesting to me: Shattered Breath Just a little one shot because I had feelings. Also only one for The Raven Cycle: Seconds After for similar reasons, but there are little one shots for a few ships and fandoms that I never went back to along with a couple of longfics that... haven't been finished so I won't link to them lol.

The fandom I have the most works in is Rusty Quill Gaming by FAAAAAAARRRR oh my god I really went through it for a couple of years huh. Zoscar was my pairing I love them so much still it hurts. I think my fave Zoscar fic that I wrote is Sex Death and Plants or: Four Seasons Total Landscaping which is technically a zop/oscar/zolf fic actually although it concentrates more on the Zoscar cos Zop doesn't have time for that shit. It was my magnum opus and took a year to complete and it was so fun.

The fic I wish more people read: Can I say all of them? But I think I'm super proud of my in-progress Dragon Age Inquisition fic All Out of Excuses which has Finn as Inquisitor and focuses on my Hawke, Saoirse. I know the fandom is slower these days and my updates are even slower than that on this fic, but I think it's a fun ride.

Fic I agonised over the most: I'll be honest, if I'm agonising over a fic I don't post it, fanfic writing is fun for me and if it's not fun I simply don't do it. BUT the one that's been the most difficult is deffo The Mbmbam Archives simply because it requires more in depth knowledge of the subject matter than every other fic I write.

The fic that sprang fully formed from my head is The Nature of Crystal - a Wol/G'raha fic that literally came to me in a dream and I wrote in a fever in an hour when I woke up.

And another work I'm proud of... mmmm. Look, gonna post another Zolf/Oscar/Grizzop one because I love it, and I love the friendships that came about because of it, and I love the art that the adorable @areyouokaypanda did for it: When Passions Collide - when I say I write fanfiction for fun, this is exactly what I mean. The whole experience was a lark from start to finish.

I'm back to Tumblr while Twitter decides to kill itself.

My current obsessions are Genshin Impact and Final Fantasy XIV. Right now I'm also playing Tears of the Kingdom and Final Fantasy XVI.

I love video games (especially Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda series), cute animals, strong female characters, anime/manga, and sometimes TV shows (TV shows tend to kill/write off my favorite female characters, so fuck them).

I write fanfics once in a while, and I collect doujinshi and merch for my favorite pairings. I used to do gifsets on Tumblr but I got lazy... Maybe I'll start up again with Genshin.

I love my cat, she's the cutest asshole in the world.

I'm about to start writing for ffxivwrite but since I am bad at posting about my OCs they might hit some people out of left field. The characters page on my blog has more in depth backstory details (even if it's a little outdated, Altais's pictures still have her old glam and hair and I'm sure there's new stuff I haven't added) but for a quick and easy reference I'm going to put a short bullet point style write up on my main three OCs here and link it before every fic I post this month. Under the cut so it stays nice and short looking lol.

An important distinction to be aware of right away is not all these characters exist in the same universe!!! Altais and Akku are written in Solarverse, a group WoL universe with my friends and so you'll see references to more than one WoL. Any character you don't recognize mentioned in their stories that isn't canon is more than likely another friend's WoL. A'kito is written in his own solo universe though, anything written about him has him as the only WoL. There are a couple side character OCs of mine I've introduced in his universe, so characters you don't recognize written in his stories are probably those. Ok now the basic really fast character bullet points:

Altais Narluu

GNB and MCH are canon classes with a little bit of SMN (researched and incorporated into her weapon designs)

Genius weapons engineer, current research focuses on combining magitek with magic in a way Garleans can't since she can use magic. Summoning magic is of particular interest.

Accidentally corrupted by a new primal thanks to said summoning research, it's a new incarnation of Bahamut but with her own Issues mixed into the summoning so he doesn't look quite the same as the original.

Grew up with terrible no good mother who left her to care for herself very young, not very trusting and quick to fight when threatened.

Essentially had a found family type arc with Solar and they're the people she really trusts now

Akku Ephos

Just a little guy really. Super friendly, quick to trust, and tries really hard to befriend everyone.

Started out as a NIN under Zelda's (the leader of Solar) training, but was never a very good fighter. Found his purpose as a healer WHM later on.

His echo also comes with the ability to see dynamis on people. So he can literally see emotions as an aura around everyone.

Tries to be Everyone's Therapist bc of this, while hiding his own feelings bc he doesn't want to upset them and see their sadness when he's struggling.

Grew up in Gridania with his brother, an incident when his brother was drunk ended up with him fleeing home and ending up in Limsa where the rogues took care of him until he met Solar

A'kito Noro

Grew up in Bozja, adopted by a Hrothgar father as a baby. Has an adoptive Viera brother named Kotah.

Goes by Kito usually even though A'kito is his full name since he never knew the tribe the prefix came from.

DRK was his class until the end of EW using a sword/soulstone inherited from his father. At the end of EW he hung up his father's sword and now uses a RPR/DRG combo essentially.

Accidentally bound his soul to Twintania freeing her from allagan control after the binding coils. Think Inheritance Cycle dragon rider type bond between them.

Loves botany. Studied it until the Bozja Incident sent him into a DRK depression spiral. Talk to him about plants pls he will love you.

His brother was evil for awhile but got better in ShB

Ok yeah this is longer than I intended but shouldn't be long if you're just referencing the character you're reading about. Feel free to ask me anything about any of them though! I haven't really done OC tags in the past, but I'll start tagging their names from now on so you can quickly find fics about each one as xivwrite goes on if you want to.

Maybe, I say as I look at everyone's ishgardian noble OC in longing. Really though I have not really been a royal or noble born character, but I think the concept is very interesting.

When I actually starting playing MSQ (which was a while after I started playing since I am a disaster) and Luka started to come together out this catwizard I started as I understood the WOL is hero of legend and all I could think of was of Link and I just add him to ended up with a cat axeperson

All y’all out there sayin’ spirits deconfirm characters? The thing is they don’t.

“But Piranha Plant doesn’t have a spirit and-”

YA SHUT FOR A MOMENT IMMA GET THERE.

Okay, so in Ultimate, there are special fighter spirits that can be won by beating classic mode. Each fighter has one spirit, with some having more for alts, like Cloud’s or Mario’s. However, a fighter can be a spirit if it’s a different form, such as different incarnations of Link and Zelda, or the most notable, Mario & Luigi from Tennis Aces. 

So you say Piranha Plant not having a spirit means spirits deconfirm, huh? Well, get this: Sakurai knew Piranha Plant would be in the game, but not Joker.

Remember, good ol’ PP was added in as a bonus for the early buyers. He’s a bonus, a joke character Sakurai himself chose. Knowing PP would be in the game before hand, he made it so there would be no PP spirit, cause PP would get a fighter spirit in his classic mode run. That’s why Nipper Plant turns into Petey Piranha; it was the best substitute for PP. 

But, if you all remember as well, Sakurai made a post, in English, mind you, that Nintendo chose the DLC Fighters. All Sakurai did was chose the five from the number Nintendo gave The a-Okay to.

That means Nintendo chose Joker. Surprising, uh?

So my guess is, characters like Geno and Bandana Dee, more specifically Geno for reasons obvious at this point, were most likely added as spirits as a contingency plan. My thought process is this: While getting Cloud’s rights back, Sakurai must’ve also worked out the rights to use Geno and Mallow’s names and art in Ultimate, which is actually a step up from the Mii Costume in Smash 4. He knew he couldn’t chose who was in DLC, so at the very least Geno could be in the game in spirit. 

Where Sakurai failed to get Geno in the base game, Nintendo could succeed with the more tantalizing offer of paid DLC.

Now, u may be thinking of the whole Porky deal. How the very important Mother character isn’t in, right? Well, his “absence” actually helps my theory! See Porky’s in the game, just not how we recognize him. Spoilers for Mother 3, but Porky sealed himself in the Absolutely Safe Capsule to avoid losing to Lucas.
