Red Magic — Gift of Louisoix [1/4]

L'aiha's White aether is rebalanced by the spirit of Louisoix in the Aitiascope, using the broken staff head of Tupsimati as an anchor to keep the potent, rampant magic in check. The encounter provides L'aiha with a new technique of which to practice her Red magic: a style not unlike that of a White mage, but utilizing just enough Black aether to keep the balance Red magic depends upon, focused into a staff comprised entirely of the substance.

((in other words i wanna do gposes of all of l'aiha's "red magic styles" and blurbs about how she came to possess them :3c i just uhhhh have to level her other jobs enough to go to the dungeons i wanna use lmfao))

depending on how beastmaster is handled there is a strong case for it to part of eyrie’s lore, but also please get it far away from them

#fun lore time: cricket is eyrie’s familiar and was created out of a small portion of their soul #he is an arcane entity but different in how he doesn’t have the absence of a soul #but a soul didn’t arise within him. he is part of eyrie and they are part of him #it’s a talent that came about in eyrie’s family—undecided on mother or father’s side #but I’m leaning on father’s side of the family considering where his father is from #and there’s already a powerful tradition of white magic on their mother’s side #depending on how beast master goes….well eyrie could start making more familiare #*familairs #which like. giving parts of their soul off to arcane entities is. not advisable considering the already messy state of their soul #there’s already enough going on with the dynamis smacking the floating leftovers of Zenos’s soul to be the glue #that brings eyrie back to life #it’s not like sticking zenos in a rat and having a murderous creature about #but more their soul is in a fragile state and pushing that around isn’t a great idea #the threads that bind the aether of their body and soul are weird enough without sticking it in others #thankfully beastmaster probably isn’t going to be like that considering pagaga and Lyon but fun to think about #the thought of it being on eyrie’s father’s side of the family is considering their small connections to bozja and dalmasca #and the viera of that area meeting these people many generations ago #and the blending of beastmaster abilities into arcane traditions to create these familairs #is interesting to me

finished steadfast — as expected, the extremely compelling setup did not turn land on its feet as well as hoped, but I had fun anyways

#ramblings #the captain's library #the thing with elemental masters is that the good parts are really good and the not-so-good parts make me feel a bit ill #and it is compelling historical fiction! and the research is well done and the magic system makes good textures on the brain!#BUT oh god the gender of it all does wear on me a bit.#after three of these in a row I feel like I've been smacked between the eyes with the 'Have You Ever Considered Feminism' hammer #which! not a bad hammer but could be better blended into the sort of black-and-white morality of these things #anyway we are proceeding on to jolene despite our grievances because unfortunately I Do continue being delighted by these #(and very genuinely I want to know what she did to publish this without being lawsuited by dolly parton)#I have Two Big Asks for the rest of these and the first one is Please A Mention That Queer People Exist You Published This In 2020 #second one is Oh God The Transcribed Accents. which. this one is set in tennessee and I'm 10 pages in and will be turning into a soup.#anyway. further updates as events warrant.
