Teens—Maïte (Bouchez) & François (Morel) are good friends living in a sleepy village in 1962, Southern France, just as the Algerian war is ending.

François becomes aware that he’s developed feelings for his gorgeous, schoolmate, Serge (Rideau) who is more interested in Maïte—who has no interest in Serge—preferring to lock political/intellectual horns with their other friend, Henri (Gorny).

Their friendship is soon frothed with tension of all sorts, especially for the smitten François.

François (Gaël Morel), a student at a boarding school in France in 1962, is beginning to come to terms with his sexuality. His only real confidante is Maïté Alvarez (Élodie Bouchez), whose mother is François's French teacher, but he's strongly attracted to Serge (Stéphane Rideau), an Italian immigrant whom François helps with his assignments. One night, Serge welcomes François to his bed and, out of curiosity, has sex with him, though he later tells François that he's really attracted to Maïté. Serge's bother, Pierre (Eric Kreikenmayer), is serving in the army in Algeria, where the war is coming to an end, but not the bloodiness, as the right-wing OAS, a group resisting Algerian independence, is still committing terrorist acts. The film opens with Pierre's wedding, at which he pleads with Mme. Alvarez (Eric Kreikenmayer), a member of the Communist Party and a strong supporter of independence, to help him desert from the army. She tells him she's unable to do anything to help him, and when he is killed in Algeria she suffers a mental breakdown. Meanwhile, a new student, Henri (Frédéric Gorny), from a family that supports the OAS, comes to the school, and although he's violently opposed to the political position that she shares with her mother, he, too, falls in love with Maïté. The volatility of this mix is obvious, as each of the four young people has to sort out his or her relationship -- political and/or sexual -- with the others. The film is at its best in portraying François's sexual confusion, particularly in a scene in which he approaches an older man he has been told is gay and asks for advice and help. The man is, understandably, confused and not very helpful.

It’s sad but the best version of Peter Parker to me (probably because it’s the most relatable one) is when he’s broke as hell, but at a certain point it doesn’t make sense for him to be such a genius without running a tech company, so here’s the bs reasons he’s still broke in the au’s I imagine:

He can’t partner up with anyone because everyone knows what happened with Dr. Connors, Dr. Octavius, and, depending on the au, Norman Osborn, which no one thinks Norman was working with Peter, but he is another person who knew Peter and became a supervillain

Essentially, everyone thinks he’s cursed™️

And he can’t sell any of his inventions on his own to start funding his own company because S.H.I.E.L.D. keeps getting involved and stopping it, both because whatever he creates works way too well and they don’t want it to fall into the wrong hands, and also because they’re all pretty sure that Peter’s gonna turn into a supervillain and they’re trying to stop him from gaining any power to do so

Also, because of all the above reasons, and because the best Peter Parker in my opinion is one that’s tired, snarky, and has a bit of an anger problem, that along with his genius, accidentally has everyone convinced he’s a supervillain in the making, the very specific dynamic that I picture Reed Richards having with him before he finds out he’s Spiderman is:



Peter Parker reminds him of Dr. Doom, he’s got the smarts, the anger, he’s a loner, and the way he commiserates on everything stopping him from achieving his goals (that famous way he blames his Parker luck on everything), just all reminds him of Victor, back when they attended college together

So he doesn’t get Peter to work with him, although he’d make such a promising mentee, cause he doesn’t need to accidentally get another supervillain to declare war on him, but also because he reminds him of Victor he can’t stay away, wanting some version of him to “see the light”

So occasionally he’ll begrudgingly team up with Peter Parker and the entire time he’ll awkwardly preach the merits of using science for Good™️ and how following villainy will only leave a person feeling empty inside, as his way of having a second chance at reaching Victor before he becomes Dr. Doom

Peter, meanwhile, has no idea this is how Reed sees their interactions, he’s just so happy whenever he gets a chance to work with one of his science heroes (then his identity eventually gets revealed and Reed has no idea how to view Peter)

Man, I've been talking about ships a lot so I'm gonna take a moment and appreciate the family because I love the family they mean everything to me and are the reason I stick around for canon even when I have a headache from it.

Eclipse and Lunar? Even if Eclipse doesn't want to be/isn't comfortable with being family anymore (and vice versa with Lunar), I hope that one day they fix their relationship enough to at least be friends. I know they've done a game play together with Earth recently (I watched it) and it was so nice to see them laughing together. Even if they can never really be brothers again, not in a way that would be healthy for either of them, I hope they can be friends.

Solar and Nexus? They were best friends your honor. He was Nexus's only real friend, and his emotional support person because Sun pushed him away to the point he wasn't comfortable turning to Sun. He was tired of being treated like Old Moon and Solar never knew old Moon, so he couldn't treat him like him. Solar knew him for him, and that's why Nexus wanted to be his brother so badly.

Sun and Nexus? Sun is trying, and he's been trying, but he's so tired and broken that it's hard to put in effort to develop new relationships and he's really just isolated himself from the entire family in his apathy. But Nexus loves him, and has kept trying to be his brother, the brother he thinks Sun wants without realizing that Sun doesn't want him to be like Old Moon. Sun didn't even want him at all, to start with, but Sun's trying because he wants to love his new baby brother and treat him the way he wished Moon treated him. And I hope they also fix their relationship, and Sun can explain these things to him, and Nexus can explain feeling pariahed by Sun and they can be happy (with Old Moon in the picture too).

Speaking of Old Moon I want them to have the happy ending they deserve. Sun and Moon and their little brother Nexus and Lunar and their sister Earth and maybe even their estranged cousin/brother Solar. It's not the ending they thought they would end up with but it's one that would literally fix me. They're together, and they're a family, and they're happy. And Eclipse is a family friend, and Ruin's paid his dues, and they don't have any massive threats anymore and they can just relax and learn what everyone is actually like, instead of what they assumed or wanted them to be like.
