I know there’s a lot of this already at this point, but I have realized another piece of evidence that Luz’s palisman will hatch into a snake:
Tumblr media
Owls will literally let snakes into their nest and live in mutual symbiosis to keep the nest free of vermin and parasites. In a sense, the snakes become a part of the family.
Tumblr media
Sound Familiar???

I wanted to post something today. It’s pretty late for that, so I’m just gonna share this drawing of the old concept I drew for Steven and Luz’s fusion.
It’s a rough sketch. I’m not really satisfied with it, just thought I might share something almost sentimental of mine. 🙂🙂🙂
I prefer the updated version, you know. 😏😏😏
So, here you go.
Tumblr media
I really wanted to copy the same air of quality as the referenced picture, but as you can see it’s somewhat scratchy.
The boxed in sketch is an old version of Steven and Luz I made many, many weeks ago.

Owl House hot take
Lunter is better and make more thematic sense than Huntlow
Not saying I would’ve wanted Lunter to be end game, I love the found family dynamic they have and I love Lumity, but in my opinion it works way better than Huntlow as a Caleb/Evelyn parallel and makes way more sense for the story. Even purely platonically it just makes so much more sense that Hunter and Willow being implied to get together in the second to last episode of the show

Hmm... it's interesting how they made Luz wear a witch's cloak in Hunting Palisman - the episode where she introduces Flapjack to Hunter. This is also the episode where Hunter defies Belos by choosing Luz over him. He goes back to his palace empty-handed and he doesn't hand over Flapjack to Belos. Unbeknownst to Hunter, he is following Caleb's footsteps.
But then, in Hollow Mind, they made the choice to have Luz not wear her witches cloak - instead they made Luz wear a jacket with a giant "E" on it. They could have given Luz a completely different outfit like they did in Hunting Palisman. But they don't... they make her wear this specific jacket...
...They also make Hunter wear Caleb's symbol in Hollow Mind... an episode where Luz and Hunter are trapped in Philip's mind... where we can see paintings of the two most important characters in Philip's life - his brother and a witch from another world.
But I'm sure this is all unintentional.
You know, like this is:
Tumblr media
oh, nbd, just a painting being paralleled with the scene happening right before our eyes
here's a more high def image of the painting
Tumblr media
Oh, hmm, okay, this is a painting of Caleb standing next to a witch with short dark brown hair and who just so happens to be a witch from another world. Both of them are startled by Philip...
Hunter, the Grimwalker who looks the most like Caleb, is standing next to someone who ALSO just so happens to be a witch from another world with short dark brown hair... both are startled by Philip's monster form...
Hmm, must be unintentional I guess.
there's also this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mhm, okay, I see... I see, very interesting. Here we have Caleb being lead away from Philip by a witch from another world after the brother's have a fall out. This fall out marks the point of no return for them, as Philip later kills Caleb out of anger.
Hunter and Philip's relationship completely deteriorates because of Luz, which leads to Philip's decision to kill Hunter. She shows Hunter Belos' true nature and she offers Hunter sanctuary at The Owl House right after he finds out Belos has been lying to him his whole life... Luz saves Hunter's life and changes it forever.
Hmmm... very interesting
But I'm sure this is unintentional [I'm being sarcastic]

Does this mean Hunter’s gonna become a wild witch or at the very least study wild magic
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like he doesn’t have to have a bike sack/magic to become a wild witch. Luz doesn’t have a bike sack and she is a concerned a wild witch

i'm back to thinking about the raeda role reversal re: luz in the princess luz AU. there's this post from a bit ago talking about raine being able to convince eda of luz's good intentions, but now i'm imagining the aftermath of that, where luz is like "but.... why DID she listen to what you have to say...??"
raine, evasively: we have.... a history
luz: a history??
raine:
luz: omg. wait. omg. is she your ex??
raine: look-
luz: OMG
raine: LISTEN-
luz: YOU'RE EXES WITH A WILD WITCH????
raine: IT WAS A LONG TIME AGO AND-
luz: THAT'S THE COOLEST SHIT I'VE EVER HEARD OMGGG TELL ME EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW IMMEDIATELY
raine, So Exasperated: okay. i will. but you have GOT to stop FLAPPING ABOUT IT IN PUBLIC,

You know what would be sad and incredibly tragic?
Belos dying in the finale and like. his body turns into dust and flies away to form in a ghostly image of a young Philip with Caleb, playing as they run off laughing and just fade into nothing.
Realistically that's not bound to happen, but it'd be a rlly depressing "circling back to the beginning" moment :(

If your ocs were in a TOH coven(s)/specialized magic track(s) which would they pick? I feel like as fucked as Anton’s methods are, he would be in Potions and Healing :3
-@vidawhump
alright i haven’t watched TOH since it ended and i’m gonna be honest i thought all the hexside stuff was boring and i didn’t pay much attention to the coven stuff. oops
BUT!!!! i think Anton would be like Eda and just say fuck it to all the specialized magic tracks and just use wild magic. he’d probably like making abominations and beastkeeping, cuz he’d like interacting with all the magic creatures and palismen and stuff. he’d also like potions and healing too :) and he’d be best friends with King because of course he would
Dew would like illusions maybe? or healing? tbh i’m not sure. maybe he’d like beastkeeping too (honestly everyone from tllr would like beastkeeping they all love animals). you know what? he’d be like Luz. the main character and undecided on what magic to use. maybe he’d be a human and use glyphs
Layla would like plant magic, Hayden would also like beastkeeping and maybe illusions, Sawyer would be into potions or healing. the three of them would be friends at hexside, Layla and Hayden would have a similar role as Willow and Gus, and Sawyer would be similar to Amity. Aspen would be a wild magic guy, he doesn’t follow the rules either. Silas wouldn’t even be a witch he’d just be an evil monster they’d have to kill
Pierce would straight up be Belos in this scenario. fuck that guy
and that’d make Anton hunter in That scenario and now i’m thinking of a whole au that i’ll most likely do nothing with
OHHHHHH MY GOD i know who the mystery character would be. but i shan’t say. take a wild guess :)

Raine’s “Eda- do you have kids?” Comment got me thinking, and I can TOTALLY see Luz as Raeda’s daughter.

I think Belos really suffers from the unfortunate constraints of 1) time, and 2) having to make a manipulative villain's lies obvious because he's in a children's cartoon. I just think Hollow Mind would be very fun if Belos, instead of instantly showing Luz and the audience memories that proved how evil he was, had tried to show himself as in the right. He chose the memories they viewed, after all.
#philip wittebane#emperor belos#I'll talk about this forever (because i want to know more of his backstory)#like! he goes to so much trouble to make himself seem good! but the moment he meets Luz and Hunter in his mind#he's okay with being evil in their eyes? boring! imo#like i guess he can easily write off Hunter. Hunter is very loyal to him at the moment‚ but the Grimwalkers always betray him#he's killed how many versions of his brother? he's resigned to it now‚ at the very least. no use getting attached!#but Luz is seemingly the only other human he's seen in centuries‚ and he likes her - he asks her to work with him multiple times#so. sure. he can give her his entire plan instantly‚ as though she'd ever agree to it. or... he could lie to her too#like he does any other time#if we had had more time‚ i think it would be fun if Belos tried to get Luz in his side by showing his perspective... a twisted view of it#she first met Philip being beaten up by demons! and she believed he was an innocent victim‚ and rushed to protect him#without the context behind that (that he had gotten their companion killed and eaten his palisman) he did seem innocent#i think he could have shown her more memories of that nature. mistreatment from wild witches#things that prove that magic needs to be controlled. that what he's doing is protecting people#but Luz knows wild witches. she knows Eda isn't evil‚ and that Belos's coven system is hurting people who can't be part of covens#or who simply don't want to be. people who aren't evil at all‚ but are forced away from society for not fitting in#and Luz knows all about not fitting in!

luz and amity parallel caleb and evelyn>>>hunter and willow parallel caleb and evelyn not only bc luz, despite looking kind of like phillip, is OVERFLOWING with caleb parallels, but also because the first time hunter met amity he tried to attack her and she ended up kicking his ass. two generations of clawthornes/future clawthorne in-laws beating the shit out of a whiny little meow meow who hates love.
#even though hunter parallels caleb on a surface level he really...doesnt#he looks like him and some of his actions can seem similar to stuff caleb did#but theres the underlying anxiety about how you and those you love would be better off without each other#that if you ignored your problems and responsibilities everything would work out#which really fits luz a lot more again she was the one who willingly got isekaied to another world#hunter is WAY too dedicated to everyone in his life to even THINK about abandoning his responsibilities#like phillip he dedicates his entire life to his loved ones#and when he finds out this wouldnt work out he BREAKS DOWN#hunter doesn't have enough self esteem to lash out at people like phillip did#but remember he went against everything he was taught to study wild magic to heal belos's curse even though belos told him not to#while phillip became one of the witches to kill them in order to get revenge for the witches 'corrupting' his brother#anyway willow is not evelyn amity is evelyn actually#evelyn is a mixture of eda and amity#eda bc she was the clawthorne that lured luz into the demon realm with her bird and showed her magic and whatnot#and amity was the one luz fell in love with#both showed luz the wonder of the boiling isles and represent a future for her in that world#convincing her to view it as home instead of just her wish fulfillment magic world#also amity beat up luz's brother i cant stress enough how much luz's brother was beat up by amity#shut up pandora#toh#the owl house#luz noceda#willow park#hunter toh#hunter noceda#amity blight#caleb wittebane#phillip wittebane#evelyn clawthorne#lumity

Magic in The Boiling Isles: Compelling vs. Internalized
I was making a different post and realized I’ve not really talked about how cool the magic in the Boiling Isles is and how it works outside of the coven system.
This might get a little long got very long, I apologize in advance.
Now, based on Elsewhere and Elsewhen, we can assume that the same types of magic already existed in the Boiling Isles before Philip instituted the Coven System, so I’m going to use the main nine covens as a starting point for this analysis.
To start, the nine main types of magic can mostly be sorted into two main classifications of magic, Compelling Magic and Internalized Magic. As the names suggest, Compelling Magic involves a witch exerting their will over something else, while Internalized Magic involves coaxing the magic out of themselves, often (but not always) using a focus of some sort to magnify their powers.
Compelling Magic includes Abomination, Beast Keeping, Construction, Plant, and Potions*, while Internalized Magic includes Bard, Healing, Illusion, Oracle, and Potions*.
*We’ll come back and talk about why Potions is both and why that’s important narratively in a minute.
Compelling Magic can be further broken down into Living and Non-Living branches. Living branches being Beast Keeping and Plant and Non-Living being Abomination, Construction, and Potions.
This is likely why Willow struggled with Abominations, her very strong natural tendencies lean towards Living Compelling Magic and commanding something with it’s own free will and desires is different than commanding something without either of those at all.
Now, of course, there are examples of people breaking this mold, the Turncloak Coven and Eda in particular break it spectacularly and that’s because of how powerful they are. Darius and Eberwolf have both Internalized their magic (Darius turning himself into an Abomination and Eberwolf uh... wolfing out) meanwhile both Raine and Eda are both able to externalize Bard magic without a focus (though in different ways since Eda was mixing magic and Raine can’t) in a way we haven’t seen any other Internalized Magic user do and while he needs a focus to do it on purpose, Gus’s mind rave is a great example of using Internalized Magic as though it’s Compelling Magic (in this case exerting his will over Philip’s mind). The kicker is that in order to do this, you have to be willing to think like a Wild Witch (aka: outside of the box)... which might have been our first clue Darius and Eberwolf were going to be on our side. And now that we’re talking about Wild Magic and reversing Compelling /Internalized Magic let’s go back and talk about Potions for a minute.
Because Potions is both. Yes, it has the Compelling element of “commanding” the ingredients together to make the potion and the effects tend to be more inline with Compelling magic. However, there’s also an element of Internalization, seeing as there’s a lot of memorization of facts involved, especially if you’re making your own homebrew potions instead of straight from a recipe.
This of course means that of all the different starting tracks/covens, Potions is likely the easiest to jump into Wild Magic from, since you’re going to be familiar with both the Compelling and Internalized elements when you start branching out. Which is probably why narratively so many future Wild Witches at Hexside started in the Potions track (Eda, Lilith, Luz, Hunter, maybe Barkus?)

I know I've talked abt this to death, but I still can't get over how Lumity and Huntlow shippers tried to claim Caleb and Evelyn as their own.
Even though Hunter is literally a clone of Caleb and he has the same exact character arc Caleb had. And Willow doesn't fill in the role of "a witch from another world who lured Philip's brother away from him" like Luz does.
I will never quite get over what Huntlows and Lumitys tried to do, because it is the most audacious example of biphobia I've ever seen in a fandom space.
People know on some level, Luz likes princes - it's something that is brought up twice. Luz goes on a quest with a prince and she writes a story where her self-insert kisses a prince. And they're also aware that Luz and Hunter fit the roles of Caleb and Evelyn to a tee. But something in them just can't handle it - the possibility of a bisexual woman writing a story where the bisexual girl has undeniable romantic subtext with a boy is disgusting to them.
Luz is bisexual, but she can't actually be bisexual because most people in LGBTQ+ spaces don't view bisexuality as a legitimate sexuality. People legit see Luz breaking up with her girlfriend to date a boy as an example of homophobia and the writers wanting "to turn her straight." Luz's bisexuality is only valid if she dates girls and is still dating a girl by the time the story ends. Basically bisexuality is only valid if the bisexual "chooses to be gay" because if they don't, then they were always ''straight'' and should be casted out from their own community. It doesn't matter that Hunter is bisexual and that m/f pairings between two bisexuals are non existent in media. Because Hunter and Luz would "look straight" if they started to date, it renders this important and vital bisexual representation as "straight representation." Because for some reason, people have it in their heads that straight people can relate to the bisexual experience and vice versa.
But yeah, the kneejerk fear and hatred that the Caleb/Evelyn = Lunter parallels invoke in people would be funny if it wasn't downright biphobic lol
